The Captain went back inside and went to his desk and wrote a letter home and then organised a briefing for the paratroopers in regards to tonight's weapons search.

The men kept on running until they arrived at the first buildings where they covered their eyes and put some hats on, they then used the alleys to move about quickly.

'Suddenly from the alleyway next to them there were a couple of shots being fired. Only a couple of seconds later it was being returned. The shots that were being returned clearly came from FN FAL's.

The men ducked, immidiatly, Mike cupped his hands and shouted.

"Oi.. those bastards got here quicker then we thought." It were other para's "That's the Airborne for you. You ask and they serve within a split second. Be careful there.. there is something up in that building that fired on the patrol. Missed us by an inch."

The paratroopers took cover behind a wall "John.. you're got with weapons. What does it sound like ?"
"A Sten !" was the brief answer "Those things are hell on any distance that is beyond a couple of metres and the way he is firing is not making it any easier for him."
"Why that ?"
"He is firing automatically.. the weapon keeps on going all over the place that way. He couldn't hit a barn door."

Mike looked about for an equal sized building. Finding it, he walked to the door and called the soldiers over.

" If you can get to the roof, you can cover nearly 3 walls and their roof up here. " he said.

"We can try those bins there to get on the wall around the garden and then climb on the roof" one of the para's noted. "You cover me." he said to his mates.

Mike and his men started to get some pistols out, wanting to conserve ammonution.
Two of them set out scouting quickly every walls to see anyone visible in the windows.

One of the para's used the drainpipe to climb onto the roof. But he barely made it up as a bullet just whizzed past him. "Fuck... glad he is such a lousy gunman !" he swore. "Now where the bloody hell are you ?" He looked for the gunman as the others climbed on the roof.

The patrol Mike sent out came back.

" We heard the shot, they're on the roof. " they said.

One of the para's fired a shot. "Got the bastard ! John.. give me that bloody notebook. I can another mark."
"Four so far.. not a bad score" John grinned.

Mike ducked as a bullet whizzed past him.

" Either you missed or it is a group up there. " he shouted.

"Blast !" John shouted. "There is a number five up there." The other para's had seen him "Ducking behind a chimney, mate. A little bit of a coward are we ? Fetch !" He pulled the trigger. "Mark it for me, will you ?"

"We have to do something not to go crazy here." John said. "On yesterday's raid we noticed in a house that they count us and how many they plan on taking down so we accepted is as a little game they play. We just show that we are better player then they are."

"I bet they will count you too." John remarked from the rooftop. Suddenly another couple of bullets went whizzing by. They came from another roof.

One of Mike's men saw a man on the roof and fired two shots, the man fell from the roof as he was hit.

" One for me then. " he laughed.

"Good shot !" One of the para's said. "Right.. let's get into this house. They could have come up the way we did but I find it so weird that it remains so quiet here. Not even a light went on."

"Could well be. Let's get into the house I say." John remarked. Two paratroopers came down the roof and took up position on both sides of the back door. "Who is feeling heroic and is after the front door ?"
