Through-Hiking the Wild Summits Trail (Open, in a way)

Postby Bluth Corporation » Sun Jul 12, 2009 9:24 pm

BACKGROUND AND INFO: The Wild Summits Trail runs approximately 3,500 miles in a generally north-south direction through the Central Backbone mountain range in Bluth Corporation. I will be posting a RP of someone's attempt to through-hike this trail. Anyone else is welcome to RP someone on the trail as well; all I ask is that you not RP a trip down a part of the trail I haven't mapped out yet. I will be updating this post to show what portions of the trail I've created a description for.

Let's see if we can't get some of our characters to meet each other on the trail and interact.

I'll be posting the first RP sometime in the next few days, as soon as I finish designing the first segment of the trail.

The succession of practice hikes was long, culminating in three straight days of fifteen miles out and fifteen back, living out of his pack and pitching his tent in his backyard. For most people it might seem like a waste of a perfectly good three-day weekend, but for Joe Hill it was the culmination of a lifelong dream of his: to through-hike Bluth Corporation's famous Wild Summits Trail.

He wouldn't be doing it alone, either. His old friend Dicky Farina would be alongside him every step of the way. Schedules kept them from doing any practice hikes together, but they had been backpacking together before and they knew how to work with each other. None of their previous trips had approached this odyssey in scope, though, and Farina was wondering how their relationship would hold up. It might make it unbreakable, but then again being stuck with each other for seven months might just totally destroy it.

(OOC: yeah, it's been months)

The phone rang in Dicky Farina's bedroom. As soon as he picked it up, before he could even get in a "Hello?" he was greeted by the friendly voice of Joe Hill. "Yo, Farina," Joe began, "am I going to be carrying the tent or are you?"

"Well, which one are we using? I thought we were going to go with individual bivy sacks...it'd be lighter." a confused Farina replied.

"Yeah, but remember, we had decided it was worth the weight to have each other's company. And if we get tired of each other, we can just wait for a nice night and sleep out under the stars, or whatever."

"True, true, ok...hmm...which one are we using?"

"I was thinking your brown one would be best--it's lighter than my blue dome, and I've always had troubles keeping the seams watertight on it."

"Don't you have that one you bought a few months ago?"

"Yeah, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet, and I don't want to be stuck with it in BFE if it turns out to be a lemon. I'd rather break it in on a shorter trip."

"OK, ok, my brown one, then. I really don't care, I guess...how about you take it and I'll take the fuel?"

"Sounds good, then. Later."

"See ya, man."
