"You know, in our own history, we united the planet through a global war which wiped out a huge portion of the population. The death rate for both sides was just under 100%."

[Kreanoltha]

"So how did the victors address the problem of inbreeding. If both sides were decimated then the survivors would have been in danger of weakening the species."

[New Garzah]

"Well, not everyone died. Mostly just the warriors who went to battle. Most of the people who stayed home lived. However, if I recall correctly, there were about 120 veterans, out of many millions."

[Kreanoltha]

"Ah, those death rates applied only to soldiers. Did one side subjugate the other?"

[New Garzah]

"Not really. The North just occupied the South for a few centuries until people began to finally make nice. There was no slavery, no real oppression to speak of, or anything else. The war was started over jealousy, and so it was decided to try to get it to end without it."

[Kreanoltha]

"That is quite a nice ending. None of our wars have ever ended quite so nicely. We can conquer the planet or system and incorporate most of the natives, but there is always a remnant that will not go down quite so nicely." Even during a discussion of war like this Colonel Vatuynos just stood there quietly. Ambassador Kinalvyus was puzzled by this. He had been rather talkative earlier.

"Well I suppose what they say about us being smarter than most species is true. By the way, what's wrong with your friend? He looks like a display model at an armor store or something."

[Jordtopia]

Carol giggled at the Emperor's comment.

[New Garzah]

The Emperor was a little confused as to why Carol had laughed. He really wasn't trying to be funny. Perhaps she was one of those who thought that corny jokes were funny. Still, at least she had a sense of humor. "I mean, really. That's just creepy. What is wrong with him?"

"I dunno!" Carol shrugged

Kinalvyus decided against commenting on that last comment that he suspected was a back-hand smack at the intelligence of his species. "I've never had a compliment of them before, but that is actually how they usually are at the embassy. I think unless the conversation is engaging to them they just stand at attention. I wouldn't try anything though. I've seen them strike from a position like that faster than you can see. Being out with one of them is like going out with a nuclear grenade on a tremor trigger. It doesn't take much to get them off." He was looking at the wounds on the Emperor's body as he said the last part. "Thank you sir." said a voice. It was Colonel Vatuynos, but he was still outwardly motionless as the helmet blocked any view of his face.

"Hmm?" Carol asked looking at the Emperor

"Hmm?" Carol asked looking at the Emperor

"Oh, nothing. Just messing with you."

[Jordtopia]

"D'oh!" the Lizard replied in frustration

Colonel Vatuynos was just monitoring his suit's sensors. There was something weird going on with the Emperor. It was some sort of emission. He turned his head a bit and locked his eyes on the squid. Damn it! he thought. He had turned whatever it was off. He was so hopping that he would do something stupid.

[New Garzah]

The Emperor decided that being entirely motionless was just an alien thing, so he decided to ignore... how did he do that? No, forget it. He then thought about... man, that guy was weird! He tried no to look over at him, but was obviously distracted.

"Are you alright Emperor?" Ambassador Kinalvyus asked the Emperor. He didn't know much about the man's species, but he knew that something was unnerving him. Maybe it's the Colonel. Sometimes the Honor Guards unnerved him even. They were imposing, but then they were supposed to be.

[New Garzah]

"Well... I'm trying not to be rude, but that's just weird. Don't humans randomly get itchy? And bored? How can he just stand there?"

"Come to think of it, that Colonel guy IS kinda creepin' me out!"

[Kreanoltha]

"Provecti* only get itchy if something gets on our skin, and as he is sealed in his air-tight armor he doesn't get itchy. Also, the Honor Guard train to the point that they don't get board." said Ambassador Kinalvyus. The bronze statue of a man moved. "I'll start talking again if something interests me. I'm just board with talking right now." He took up his post again and stood at attention.

The Emperor made a 0_0 face, and said, "...Right..."

"Huh." said Ambassador Kinalvyus. He didn't let it show, he had long ago mastered himself, but we was beginning to think that the Garzahians were just odd all around.
