"Sorry, I can't, In this 'verse, I am A Gangster" Sir Nigel said "Why do you think I bothered with this ridiculous getup, anyway, Most Government officials are under Mob Pay anyway"

"So am I, Nigel," McKabelle said, "Now, these mobsters...they have power, right? And they all fighting...how's the crime rate? death rate?"

"Yes and No, Some have bought out the state governors and Town Mayors and some haven't, The President and the majority are uncorrupted, thus Prohibition remains, again both depends, in some places they are Both as High As the Empire state, and in others they're not"
They had slowly Progressed into more built up areas, early morning workers drifted about the streets

"Then there's got to be order, can't have police going around with conflicting responsibilites to the mob and the government. I say if they're not my boys I don't care if they die."

"Assuming I could not pay them to stop and hunt criminals, I would gladly slaughter every last one of them....accidentally, of course."

"Must admit, he's got a point. When gangs rule the street, the people suffer. I grew up in a neighborhood where that was commonplace. It was only until after I straightened them out the neighborhood improved. Mind you, Nigel, we still like you and will protect you. But don't be surprised if there's a few more dead mobsters in a battle than there would be otherwise. They need to learn, whether by coercion or by cold, hard, lead....or plasma."

We shoot people and we kill them for money and anger, not those guys who kill because they enjoy it."

McKabelle spat over the side.

"You know we're still here? Because we had enough sense to cut a deal and live hunting dregs. Given power, Vasquail knows most of my men would run the country into the ground. Most are scum, but they're lawful scum, and they keep their heads down, collect a paycheck, go home to their families, and eat takeout or leftovers from yesterdays apartment potluck."

OOC: though not entirely true in New Amerik,McKabelle is supposed to reminiscent of the more gritty, noir gangsters, hence the pessimism and dark tone.

They Reached a Pair Of wooden Gates, on which "Foreman Scrap Metals" Was written, Sir Nigel Pulled up by the sidewalk, And Got out, He stood by a Peeling wanted poster with a Younger version of his face on it before Opening the gates, and waved Ace and Kayo into the yard, He then climbed back into the car and drove into the Yard, Kayo, Who had got out, Closed the gates "If you would Like to Alight, I'll show you our base of operations"

They stepped out, McKabelle pulling out his 5-barrel pillbox pistol while Tabitha brought out some old Coltm1911 A-1 revolvers. Vasquail defied historical accuracy, pulling his saber and EPEP pistol. They awaited instructions.

Sir Nigel Unlocked a Door and Climbed the stairs behind it They lead up to a Dusty room, which seemed to be a sitting room, several Other doors Backed onto it, sir Nigel Turned on the Wireless, Which started to Play "Baby Face", He quickly turned off the Radio "I hate that song, Any questions?"

vasquail started to grin. It had been a while, but even with William gone, it was good to get back in the old business...he motioned to Tabitha, and she nimbly leapt over to the table, where she picked the radio up and gently tossed it into the path of the doorway to the bedroom. don, meanwhile, crouched to one side, lining up his vector of firing with Vasquails.

Sir Nigel Flung the door Open to find No One was there, He ran up to the window,
"Quick Come Look There they are" He Exclaimed

Tabitha sprinted as fast as she could past the corner and down to the open window. without stopping, she asked, "How far down?" Vasquail merely pumped a solitary fist as he raced next to her, and Don shook his, head, and headed out the way they had came in.

The Fleeing figure looked Back, Tabitha would recognise Her, It was The D-Sapiens from The Redfern, Still in the same, Now torn dress, The Woman Fled Around the corner, The same Noise from the Redfern Filled the air, along with the same Wind

Tabitha jumped, and two seconds later Vasquail did as well. The entrnance door closed as Don stepped out. As the first two jumped, two single words floated past Nigel's ears.

"Close enough."

Sir Nigel Sighed and Leapt through the window

Tabitha landed in the scrap-heap on her feet, landing on the disused hood of a car. Vasquail bet his knees and crashed onto a mattress, the springs lifting him out onto the ground as he dove around the corner. Tabitha followed him soon after, after boosting the car hood up to where she was pretty sure Nigel would land.

Sir Nigel Bounced off the Hood of the car and Ran after them, When they reached the Corner, The woman was nowhere to be seen, There was Just a few workers and a streetcar

Classified business, if the people we're working for don't get her they'll be very displeased, and because I know you were here when she turned I will be displeased, and when I am displeased people will realize why they should not have made me displeased. So: where did she go?"

Vasquail nodded. "Here," he said, shoving six dollars worth of change from the 1920's into his hand. "if they look funny, just check the actual content, it's legitimate small change. Thanks for helping America, patriot. When we take back the streets, you will have a far better government job than this," then ducked back behind the corner to meet Tabtitha. He explained what the man had told him to Tabtiha, who explained it as well as the desription of the woman to Nigel. she ended with ,"Sound familiar?"
