Annual Royal Festival opens with ceremony headed by His Majesty

Kovro I Aħdar arrived in the Archdogate of Fortuna earlier this morning to open the annual Royal Festival of Frezko, a week-long celebration that brings together the traditions, music, food and crafts of each of the realm's constituent kingdoms. This event marks the first of such festivals in the Willow Isles, and the first major crowded event since the street celebrations that followed the Free Wnescian victory in continental Valtameri, and the celebrations following the signing of the 2024 Treaty of Shuraya that ceded the then-sparsely populated Oceani Special Municipality of Haja-Mishu and the Amical Protectorate of the Beniri Islands to the House of Calandria.

Delegations from each major Frizch nationality decorated large stalls which showcase local customs and regional specialties. From Prajulian history to Saultecois cuisine, from Atrahassian customs to Vermandoisien bottled water, the festival receives millions of participants each year and is rumored - though not confirmed - to close out with an appearance by renowned Acadian singer Claude Guerin-des-Ours next weekend. The festival's most attended edition took place in Avatar's Hill, Viceroyalty of Prajul three years ago, though it was very closely followed up by the next two editions in St. Johannes, Island of Stratis, and Comino, Province of Santa Ynez.

In a brief address that took place at the recently reopened Hanging Gardens of Shuraya, located in the heart of the city's port area, the King praised the diversity of each of the nation's realms and called the festival an opportunity to celebrate and share the vast heritage of each culture. Other special guests included Rizardo Sette, acclamated Frizch football star and IFA world champion, and local Supreme Councillor Išḫara Mayar di Iodus, with more national and international figures set to arrive during the week.

Government officials seem hopeful to follow up on the official state visit from the President of the Foundhome Republic in 2021 with further state visits and treaty signings in the near future. An international festival where nations from around the world would introduce themselves in the global stage, to be hosted in the city of Gaude, has been proposed by both Chiara Ramírez - one of two Ministers of State, and Carmela Ruotta - Supreme Councillor of Metropolitan Frezko and former Secretary of State for the Reconstruction and Development of Epilo.
