Users are called ‘Ververs’, a post/tweet is called a ‘Verfje’ though this is often anglicised to ‘Verves’. Ververs can share posts (↷), like them (❤) or pay to algorithmically lift them up (∂). That last feature is called 'RAISE UP THIS VOICE' in English, and users can see the identities they've lifted up, and show off their progressive kudos for uplifting minority perspectives.
This thread is not intended to collect all Verve posts, as happens in some regional social media site threads, but rather as 1) a reference for how to make them 2) a place where Verfjes can be cross-posted for reference. Verfjes should first go in whichever thread they're 'about' and can then be cross-posted here if so desired. Only Verve users (mainly in the Western Atlantic region) will probably use Verve but it can be open to others. TG Knootoss if you're unsure.
A few notes on how to make a good Verfje, using the code example below:
Pronouns
(Xx / Xxx) can be anything custom, but joke pronouns about racing cars would result in a ban until they are changed.
Profile Picture
There is a default profile picture if your account wouldn't have one. Otherwise your profile picture should be 100 x 100 px.
Likes
These are suggestions (not hard rules) about how many likes a Verfje should get. If it isn't going absolutely viral (and there should be a reason for it going viral) it might get:
- 0-20 ❤ for private citizens;
- 50-300 ❤ for minor professionals (local journalist, activist, small video blogger, academic with a niche following);
- 300–2.000 ❤ for public figures (backbench MP, national newspaper columnist, second-tier broadcaster, mid-tier celebrity, government press office);
- 1.000–10.000 ❤ for national figures (cabinet minister, party leader, major editor, A-list national celebrity);
- 10.000–40.000 ❤ for global-tier accounts (head of government of a major nation, figures with cross-border recognition)
If your character is from a nation with very few Verve users, they probably max out at least one tier lower than their real-world stature unless the post is of interest to the wider Verve user base. The posts' language gets autotranslated by Verve AI so it's not about language and more "would anyone outside that nation care".
Shares and Boosts
- Shares (↷) should be 1/3rd the number of likes (❤). Higher for news, memes and outrage; lower for personal posts. Posts that get a lot of negative attention might actually get fewer likes than shares. If a post is getting ratio'd, switch around the number of likes and shares a normal post from that character would get.
- Paid boosts using 'lift up this voice' (∂) should typically be 0,1%-5% of likes. Anything higher is going to be astroturfy.
Raise Up This Voice Categories
This section requires some editing. Though if you post again with the same character, you can just reuse that!
- Pick the relevant combination of symbol and text from each category (gender, orientation, relationship, religion) and add others as you please. Race or nationality, disability status, or membership of minority groups is often added, but those do not have custom symbols.
- Delete all the categories that do not apply to your character. (i.e. if your character is heterosexual, delete the line about being lesbian).
- Delete all the text that doesn't apply to your character (i.e. with Bisexual / Pansexual, just pick one and delete the other. Custom wording is fine. Verve has more options for these things than I'm providing here.)
- Remove the returns between categories. Those are there to help you pick more easily. They categories should be separated only by the built-in tabs.
