They wouldn't be able to tell him anything about the specific crime (they're in jail in another country, so they wouldn't know), but can sort of give him nudges in the right direction. I understand that this could be a little tricky for a) you to work in to the plot as you've already thought most of it out and b) me to divide up ideas between my character and them. It might be easier for you to RP the Autesian serial killers, if there is space for them as a "clue dispensation" method. If this isn't possible for whatever reason then no problem
Kleindyr wrote:Okay, I've given it some thought, so here's my character sheet.
Name: Karel Kloss
Age: Thirty years old
Occupation: Profiler and police officer working for the KND (Kleindyran National Defence, the equivalent of a police force)
Brief Bio and Description: Born and raised in Kleindyr, Karel has led a perfectly normal life. After his military service, he studied psychology at the university with a minor in criminology, and later joined the KND where he began working as a profiler. He chose to work for the KND because criminality rates are extremely high in Kleindyr and he wanted to contribute to making it a safer place to live. It's not really a vocation, more of a "I don't have anything better in mind, so I might as well do something useful" line of thought. His curiousity is his main drive ; he just has to get answers, no matter what. He doesn't have much of a personal life, his favoured companion being a tortoiseshell, mean-looking cat that tends to bite and claw any human being getting too close, including Karel himself. He lives alone, most of his (not so numerous) attempts at living together with someone else having met a dire end, either because of the aforementioned cat, or because of intrusive in-laws. Usually soft-spoken, he doesn't like to shout (or anyone who does) and dislikes loud noises in general.
He read about the Underground Killings case in the newspapers, but had no interest in them until recently. Unfortunately, it so happened that one of the victims was the daughter of a Kleindyran high official. Needless to say, the high official in question kicked up a big fuss. The Kleindyran authorities requested they be permitted to send one of their own officers to assist with the investigation. They also reserved the right to request the extradition of the killer once he was caught. Karel was sent because, having Nord-Brutlandese relatives, he speaks the language and knows the country.
Karel is about 1m73 (that would amount to 5'7 I think), stocky, with black hair, light brown eyes, and a vandyck. Since he left the army he's been too lazy to keep himself in a good physical condition, so without being completely out of shape he isn't in top condition either. He doesn't like weapons, considering them inconvenient and useless more often than not, and tries to avoid carrying one whenever he can.

Like what I said to Weltmachtistan, the victims (and their identities) are under my control, so I will have to work the high officials daughter into the plot. Thing is, I have no space yet for a woman in the victim list, and she'd most likely come later (seventh, eighth on the list?). In addition, the idea of "serial killer" won't come out in the newspapers until four, five killings later, so if that would be the raison d'être as to why he'd be sent to the country in the first place, he'd have to come really, really late. So, you'd have to get a reason to enter the country early... like an "exchange cop program".
Nevertheless, I found your application very good. Just a little tweaking, and you're good to go!
Also, to everyone: IC post ill be up within an hour... barring distractions.

Maybe the prosecuter can be at the crime scene looking for some evidence or something and gets caught up in the madmans plans...

Oh, goodie, the more the merrier !
So Park is his first name ?
If his parents remain unknown, how do they know they were from a middle-class family ?
If he brought five thousand criminals to justice un seven years, that makes it approximatively two criminals a day, assuming he works on week-ends and never takes a holiday, and without counting the trials of people who end up cleared of charges and cannot therefore be counted as "criminals". Bit of a workaholic, or what ?

The whole post about Brutland and Norden was very interesting to read. The layout of the underground reminds me a little of the Manhattan metro, is that on purpose ?
I suppose Nord-Brutlandese is like Italian ? (of course, you had to pick a language I don't speak )

Hum, 3000 criminals in seven years, let's see...
Seven years equal to 2555 days. That makes it 1,17 criminals a day, without taking holidays or week-ends, and still not counting people who end up cleared of charges. Talk about expeditive justice
Sorry, I just like nitpicking. But seriously, a trial usually takes more than one day (well, depends in which country, but you see what I mean). Park can be a genius all he wants, but that won't make the trials go any faster (yes, the evil of bureaucracy, procedures, red tape and paperwork). Assuming that Park doesn't take much holiday, he'd be working, say, around 250 days a year at most (since we're not counting the week-ends, and those amount to 104 days a year, give or take). That makes it 1500 days in seven years, so a reasonable number of criminals brought to justice would be closer to five, six hundred. That's still a lot, mind you.

Nah, it's not a curseword, nothing really bad. But according to my dictionary it can be translated as "gross, crude". Also it sounds the same as the word for "bully, ruffian" (same pronounciation, different orthograph). But I think I can manage not to snicker every time I use it. (Besides, it's not like I'm in a position to say anything, considering that "Klein" means "small" in German...)
I do have a few years of RPing under my belt, but I'm used to playing with always the same rules and the same group of people, so this is going to be a change. And it's my first RP in English too. Just to say I'm likely to make mistakes, but we all strive to improve !
Yeah, it shows that you've been thinking about this for a while. It all feels very real, just like a real city. The description kind of looked like the wikipedia page for a real city Good thing all this material can finally be put to good use !
EDIT : Have just been to see that page about Nord-Brutlandese. Goodness, you've really thought this out, haven't you ? It's very impressive. Do you speak Italian ?

Brief Bio and Description: Emmanuel Wilkes grew up in a wealthy family that lived just outside New Berlin. When he was a teen, he loved to solve mysteries and shoot guns on his father's massive property, becoming the town's marksmanship champion with his FN-FGR rifle. When he was conscripted into the Army, like every Cazatanian of eighteen years, he excelled at solving problems incredibly quickly and was of course natural with a firearm. He was offered an officers commission, but he declined in favor of working as a Military Detective. He solved at least a dozen crimes during his first year in service, and was awarded the Distinguished Service medal for gallantry. When British Londinium invaded Cazatania in 2007, 'Manny' was transferred to a front-line infantry unit, where he fought in Mortun before retreating back to New Berlin. When the Cazatanian government surrendered, he fled to Greal and worked for a private firm, solving several murder cases during the two years away from his homeland. When the occupation ended, he returned to Cazatania and worked as an independent detective up until 2015, when he joined Investigative Services Incorporated, a private criminal investigation company that mostly worked for the Cazatanian government. Manny learned of the 'Underground killings' when it was brought up by a fellow Private Investigator during a coffee break. He took interest in the seemingly strange murders, and decided to investigate, even if he wasn't going to get payed to do so.
