The Selkie wrote:Good afternoon,
with the gracious permission of the OP, I'd like to ask a few question, if no one minds:
Modern people, most likely going to be military, if I know my NS well enough, travel to the past and alter (?) history.
Problem one, it is a bit unclear:The Great state of Joseon wrote:[...] In 1941, a world that was going through World War II was connected to NS Nations in 2024 (or another year) through a portal. So, portal opens somewhere some time between 1941 and...? What's the limit? A.k.a. can we move in with Cold War Tanks only a bit beyond the local timeframe, or can we go in with jets of the modern day or even go with PMT Railgun Tanks or FT SciFi stuff?
Problem 2, does the portal stay open? So, whatever we send in, will it be cut off from 'our' world or will there be a constant connection a la GATE: Thus the JSDF fought there?
Problem 3: My nation is not found on the usual world map. And it didn't participate in WW2. So... am I still eligible?
Similarly, there are dozens of RL-inspired nations, where WW2 took a different turn or didn't happen at all. Are they eligible as well?
Problem 4: More fantastical elements. I am thinking shipgirls a la Azur Lane or Witches a la Strike Witches - would they be permitted? The Great state of Joseon wrote:[...]

Problem 5: "I spawnz 57473823 modern tanks next to Berlin, Rush B, war's over, we can all go home!"
If I were you, I'd get a little bit more control over who spawns what where... otherwise, some of us are just going to go and make the WW2-World our personal bitches and then fight over who gets what in a weird shinzo-tech scenario of Irish with ICBMs nuking a Japan, that is more anime then it needs to be... ; )The Great state of Joseon wrote:[...]

Problem 6: Cue two dozen people yelling "I wanna play Hitler!" ; )
No, fun aside, let's say, that I will RP a small force of the SDF crashing in Ireland during WW2.
1, are we limited to Axis and Allies or can we also go neutral?
2, who will play the counterpart, in this example the Irish? No offense to you, Joseon, but depending on how large this will be and how dedicated people are going to turn out, this might be a bit too much for you to chew on.
Thank you for any replies and I hope, that I didn't turn you off of your own idea... it is an interesting premise and I'd love to participate, but I'd love to know, how bonkers I can get before I actually do. ; )
P.S.: The premise reminded me more of The Final Countdown, including the splashing of some Zeroes. ; )

I wrote OOC on the premise that the participants will have reasonable levels of troops involved, but I think I need to set the correct guidelines. Some provisions will be added to OOC soon.
2. The portals remain open. They will not be disconnected.
3. It doesn't matter, but I recommend participating as only one country.
4. They shouldn't use magic, but it is okay if they don't use magic and they keep MT.
5, 6. Yes. You have a point. I was somewhat rash. I will add some rule provisions.

I see, I see... so I can go a bit whacky, but not too whacky, I see... did you know, that the Second Tiberium War, as depicted in C&C: Tiberian Sun, was in 2030? So a lot of technologies depicted there could be available already... bears thinking about... ; )
No, that was a joke. Unless of course you want me to whip up a GDI-Division/Sub-Faction for this RP. We'd just need some Allies, some Soviets and some Japanese to make this... very whacky actually. Forget I said anything.
Unless... ; )
No, I'm finished with joking.
I hope.
Unless you have any different plans, I'd like to start this out slowly: A singular Aiteal-class Oceanographic Research Vessel going through the portal, investigating and researching (this is not the first time the Free Lands encountered a portal and they'd like to have an idea about what they are getting into) and ending up somewhere in the North Atlantic between Iceland and Ireland. Of course, the Emerald Isle will be the first port of call after being challenged by a British warship. What do you think?

No problem. If I'm right, I think you want a non-military RP because Research Vessel doesn't have armaments. Absolutely fine. I'll make an IC thread after enough participants join or after some time.

I would not mind, the more the merrier! : D
As for who to bring... hm... either your own research vessel or a small patrol ship to start out. The carrier battlegroups can come in later.

Like Arafuras, Resolutes are modular- dependent on what works best I could take either one of those two or something like a kit for surveillance.

I see.
What do we keep in reserve for when things go southwards inevitably?
Btw, I call dibs on sinking at least one German battlewagon. Depending on when we set off, it might be too late for the Bismarck, but Tirpitz or one of the Scharnhorst-class should be in for me. ; )

Dibs are fine by me. I can keep a Carrier Task Group or a small surface formation nearby, as it suits.

Depending on what Joseon says, I was thinking of one of my Drone Carriers, actually. The real 21st century tech makes WW2-BBs go boom-boom. ; )
Btw, Joseon, would you mind, if I invited a few friends?
