Withdrawing from Leningrad!

Sonnestadt-

In a surprise move after the recent intervention into the war-torn land of Leningrad lawmakers today approved a bill to pull out from the conflict; citing escalating tensions after rogue foreign elements unleashed a nuclear attack on the city of Jestertown. Imperial forces have began an immediate withdrawal from their positions near the city of Frazwicz. Conservative MPs have declared their opposition to the move and plan to filibuster any future Populist legislature.

After the new elections, the Pacifist party holds 48/128 of the parliament. The Communists hold 12/128. The Conservatives hold 8/128. The Talossan Nationalists hold 30/128. The Socialists hold 30/128. Before this election it was 64 Socialists, 14 Communists and 50 Jewish Nationalists. It has been the biggest shift in our political history.

Kaitjan State Radio Broadcast

Good morning, citizens of our glorious People's Republic! May the day bring progress and prosperity to our great nation. It is 10.20 national time, and its time for the latest news.

The great OCPK Party has revealed their new five year plan, the Steel Industry Plan No 21.5.

The plan is to increase the productivity of our nations metallurgical industry with 10% as one of many steps to stop our import of foreign steel. If the plan is a success, we will be producing over 70% of our demand for steel, thereby reducing the need to deal with foreign powers.
Nikor Grenovy, the spokesman of the national steel-industry welcomes this plan.

"I think that the OCPK has made the right choice in continuing with plans concerning the steelproducing industry. It is one of our most important branches of the industry, supplying Kaitjan with steel to our railroads, our construction sites, and of course - the military. By increasing our production we will become able to cease trade with the capitalist nations currently selling us inferior steel."

It remains to be see the outcome, but as usual, the plan will probably a wide success. This is all for the 10.20 news broadcast. We will see you in half an hour with more news concerning our great nation and our dealings with the world. In the meanwhile Foma Ferenich - the director of the Ovrech-Myr city orchestra, will give you the "Rise of the Worker". Enjoy!

Glory to Kaitjan!
The People's Republic of Kaitjan is a nation most glorious: a totalitarian communist dictatorship set against a backdrop of vast jungles, great rivers and a horribly tropical climate. Kaitjan is renowned for its all-encompassing militarism, rampant xenophobia, isolationist tendencies and a great love for tigers and tiger motifs.

Excerpt from the special report Lost Women of Skeckoa aired on BSOT9, a UC9 based International News Channel based in Skeckoa City, Skeckoa:

Martha Delano is on board a ship heading north from her natal country of Skeckoa towards the Northern Islands that comprise the country of Againstia. The ship will endure many perils in its trip, going through the difficult-to-navigate waters that separate the two island nations. Yet, she is the luckier of the bunch. She is going in hopes of taking advantage of the subsidized healthcare in Againstia for an abortion. She is nearly three months, and not her parents, her family, or even the father know.

"I really just wouldn't be able to handle the baby. Life is difficult and the lusting of life wears off in a few years, I could not put anyone through such an abuse" says Delano.

Despite the horrid conditions of the ship, she considers herself lucky enough to make the expensive trip to Againstia by boat at an estimated 4,500 Eúatmas after the costs of the medical procedure are included. For the most part, the main point of leave for Eskeckii women seeking an abortion is through the city of Puerto Ramón. Puerto Ramón is an exclave of Skeckoa surrounded on three sides by border checkpoints and a 35 mile border with The Rogue Nation of Strange Charm, a country where such a procedure is easily available at any hospital— with a cost.

Generally, in Skeckoa, there is a fear of the Charmarin healthcare providers usually spread by rumors, many of which originating from Skeckoa's own healthcare providers who enjoy a similar subsidization by the Eskeckii government, almost nothing. But unlike Strange Charm and Againstia, in Skeckoa, abortions are not only illegal, but punished and treated as 1st degree murder, and given the high sentiments of the mainly Catholic populous, is punished even more severely than a number of murders.

"Just the idea of not having the respect to see someone to their face and failing to acknowledge the evils of your doings, it is disgusting" said Rosa Wilkerson, a senator currently running for a position in government under the banner of the Liberal Christian Party.

That mindset has always been present in Skeckoa. Almost as if left over from the times of chivalry. One does not strike another in the back, and if you are to commit an evil, it is your duty and obligation show some ounce of recognition of your actions. This thought is what spared the children in the Eskeckii genocide (which still amounts to Skeckoa having the highest percentage of orphaned children in the UC9), it is this mindset that makes abortions unthinkable, and the people who do the practice, morally corrupt and unfit to be Eskeckiis.

And on that border checkpoint in San Ramón, it is not the Charmarin guards that the women fear, but the Eskeckii ones who have caught on to the practice and know carry pregnancy tests with them to examine the women before they leave, a legal loophole granted to the guards under the clause in Skeckoa law that states that a citizen has the immediate right to life. This has been interpreted as an opportunity to live, and abortion being a clear breaching of that right. So at the border, the guards that defend the unborn compatriots have been reputed as easy to bribe thugs, many times demanding sex out of the women who fail to cross unnoticed.

It has flown under the attention of the Legislative and Executive branches of the Eskeckii government, has been sheltered from the world, and has been cried as the latest shame that that government allows to take place.

Estimates agree that some 24% of Southern Charmarin abortions (the region directly across the Skeckoa - Strange Charm border) are perfromed on Eskeckii women, who then flee back to their home country as legal felons. However, due to weak domestic policing, they are essentially home free, as long as not reported by any family member or friend, as these reports are given priority in what is the police of Skeckoa.

In San Ramón, the hostels are aplenty and prostitutes line the streets, and one can only begin to think of the possibility that these women may have had been women fleeing to SC, but ended up here, San Ramón, or as the Sketch Creoles call it, "Fintxosón Delái", "end of women's dream."For know, the in most part secular Catholic population refuses to back down this position, and no elected official dare dreams about risking their career in supporting the death of the unborn.

CELSAN TRECENTO 1.6 SLX
Price: £12,550

Celsan's rival for the VLT L3, Ford Focus and Toyota Corolla gets an update with a new 1.6-litre/115bhp 4-cylinder engine joining the line-up. Replacing the previous-generation, there is no change in power (it remains at 114bhp) but is tuned for economy and offering a smoother ride.

This engine is available now in the facelifted Trecento range, and will be replacing the older 1.6, which continues in the new Trecento Classic (which is the current car on sale now, confusingly enough).

Trim levels available are LS, GLS, SE, SLX, SVE, and we're testing the model expected to be the biggest-seller; the uplevel 1.6 SLX.

Inside, it's luxuriously appointed; equipment includes height adjustable driver's seat, radio/cassette, rear headrests, centre rear headrest, active front headrest, traffic information system, satnav (for an extra £500 over RRP), and:
    Electronic stability programme (ESP)
    Driver’s and front passenger’s airbags
    Front seat side-impact airbags
    Full-size curtain airbags
    Air conditioning (£400 option)
    Sunroof
CD player with MP3 format/stereo radio
    Auxiliary-in socket
    Driver’s seat height adjuster
    60/40 split-folding rear seat back
    Electrically operated front windows
Electrically adjustable / heated door mirrors
    Remote-controlled central deadlocking
    Adjustable steering column.
    Cruise control (£500)
    Steering wheel mounted audio controls
    Chrome-bezelled steering wheel
    Front seat back storage pockets.
    Three-spoke leather-covered sports steering wheel
    Rain-sensitive windscreen wipers
    Automatic lighting control
    Electro-chromatic anti-dazzle rear-view mirror
    Front fog lights
    Multi-function trip computer
    Remote-control alarm system
    Chrome-effect side window surround
    Electrically operated rear windows
    Ambient lighting in front doors
    Chrome-effect front door sill covers
    Illuminated vanity mirrors
    Ribbon Morrocana trim.
    Sat-nav (£750)
...and more, so it's decently equipped, but a lot of extras jack up the price.

Inside, it's well-constructed, but more a case of form over fashion; does the job but not that attractive.

To drive, it's improved, with a smoother ride and less body roll. Not a driver's car, but a competent motorway machine. Good for long drives but poor for short journeys.
Economy is OK, with 44.9mpg the average figure you can get; not as good as a VLT TCi, but good enough for this class of car, if you like Eurasian autos.

Boot space is pretty good, with a total of 490/1482 (min ltrs/max ltrs) putting it on a par with the Ford Focus estate, and making it close to the Vauxhall Astra's 500/1550. Odd for a saloon, but good for an estate.

In short, it's a perfectly competent car that does things well, but excels in no particular area.

Intervention Forces Recalled From Lavonian Coast
Image
A Korongolese Amphibious Assault Ship Sailing Home From Lavonia.
Yesterday both Provisional Naval Flotilla 2 and Provisional Naval Flotilla 31 stationed in international waters off the coast of Lavonia were officially disbanded yesterday and their component units have recalled back to New Korongo. These two naval forces were originally deployed to the area at the beginning of the month after the armed forces of Valyrium launched an invasion of Lavonia. According to military officials, both naval forces were to form the spearhead of a Korongolese intervention force in the event that diplomatic efforts to force a Valaerian withdrawal failed. The Minister of Defence, James Strickland, explained in a press conference today that the decision to withdraw Korongolese forces from the area was the result of an “in-theatre cessation of hostilities which removed the need for Korongolese military intervention and opened up the possibility of a diplomatic solution to the conflict”. Our military analysts were unsurprised by this decision. According to government officials who wish to remain unnamed, the main objective of any Korongolese intervention in Lavonia would be to force the Valaerian government into a ceasefire. Since the force arrived off the coast of Lavonia, not a single shot has been fired, greatly reducing the need for intervention. Strickland did, however, promise to reform an intervention force if hostilities broke out between Valyrium and Lavonia again. International commentators have praised this promise, claiming that it reflects the Korongolese government’s determination to see the peace process in the Valyrium-Lavonian Conflict through to the end.

On the political front many commentators are concerned that the decision to recall Korongolese forces and the promise to redeploy them in future is not a reflection of determination, but the beginning of a political crisis within the Korongolese parliament. The coalition between the New Future Party and the National Freedom Party, which put President Jonathan Shipman in power, if beginning to show signs of weakening. Alexander Richardson, the leader of the National Freedom Party, has publically expressed his displeasure with President Shipman’s failure to pursue non-military intervention policies promised by both parties of the coalition prior to the elections. With this in mind, many people believe that the coalition could collapse if the intervention forces were redeployed. If the coalition did collapse, President Shipman’s supporters would be on equal footing with the Royalist Party in parliament. To make matters worse, there are rumours that the Royalist Party and the National Unity Party are going to form their own coalition. If this did occur in the aftermath of a coalition break up, the entire Korongolese political arena would change significantly.

New Future Party - National Freedom Party Coalition Broken
The coalition between the New Future Party and the National Freedom Party was officially dissolved this morning by the leader of National Freedom, Alexander Richardson, after a long period of frustration among members of both parties. While this has not come as a great surprise to political commentators, many had presumed that the stability of the coalition had been under threat due to President Shipman’s inability to keep New Korongo out of foreign conflicts, it does throw the Korongolese parliament into a period of crisis. The coalition was originally formed during the last election when the Royalist Party and the New Future Party were tied for votes to ensure that a representative could become President. Now that it has been dissolved, President Shipman no longer represents the majority and his position as President is under threat. The government has been strangely quiet on the matter, with the exception of stating that an emergency session of parliament will be held tomorrow to decide what happens next. This has led many members of the public to speculate on the future of the Korongolese government. Our political analyst believes that the Royalist Party and the National Unity Party may form their own coalition and attempt to replace Shipman with their own representative. Others claim that the parliament may do nothing and wait until the next election comes.

LIGHTING UP A NEW ERA: CITY COUNCIL INVESTS IN PFI

Southfield MBC has recently announced the launch of a new PFI (Private Finance Initiative) to replace old streetlighting in the Gleshill, Murrayford and Tunstall areas of the borough.
The streetlighting, which dates back to the 1970s and 80s, is falling apart, and it has been decided to invest in new ones.

Local supplier CroXroads has been awarded the contract.

These are the following streetlights which will be used:

Korongolese Political Crisis Solved In Record Time
Image
In a press conference held at noon President Jonathan Shipman announced that the Parliament of the United Provinces had solved the recent political crisis formed by the collapse of the New Future Party – National Freedom Party coalition in an emergency session this morning. Apparently the Parliament has agreed for President Shipman to remain as head of state while a new coalition between the National Unity Party and the Royalist Party is formed to take over from the majority position which was previously held by the New Future – National Freedom coalition.

Many political commentators and local governments throughout the nation have praised the Parliament for finding a solution to the problem in record time, avoiding an extended political crisis that could lead to another civil war. Some political activists are concerned, however, that the rapid switch around in government power could lead to some unwanted policies. The leader of the Committee of Freedom, Jackie Howell, said on her internet blog that “the change in power between an elected majority and a temporary unelected majority should be watched closely by the people of New Korongo”. Claiming that “it could lead New Korongo down a slippery slope towards a totalitarian government”. It seems that only time will tell what impact this has on the nation.

SDMD Announces Plans To Purchase New Carriers
Image
The Seteione De Militar Detwarneng (Department of Military Development) has announced plans to replace the wide variety of aircraft carriers currently in service with the Unreo Provincir Marida (United Provinces Navy) over the next decade with a single new class under a naval development programme called Project Vangaurd in order to reduce maintenance and training costs. According to Lieutenant General Edward Tahnre, the current head of the SDMD, the Project Vanguard will seek an off-the-shelf CATOBAR super carrier from the international market. He has stated that the decision to seek aircraft carriers abroad was made to alleviate strain on the Korongolese shipbuilding industry already strained with the new Vengeance and Rupert Briars class warships. Rumours have already surfaced which suggest that the SDMD may already have plans to make a purchase from British Imperial Defence Industries, a company from the New United British Empire. Tahnre has also stated that any class purchased under Project Vanguard will enter service in 2015 at the latest, and remain in service until at least 2050.

The decision to purchase new aircraft carriers has been praised by defence analysts who have, in the past, claimed that the Korongolese carrier fleet is nothing more than a disorganized mess.

Anarchists Increase Activity On Border
Image
Anarchist paramilitary organisations operating from within the Former Delasantan States have once again renewed operations against Korongolese forces assigned to border guard duties. Last night an estimate two thousand mortar, howitzers, and recoilless-rifle rounds were fired across the border at military installations and small border towns. So far twelve people have been confirmed dead, three of them civilians, and another forty three people have been confirmed wounded. In response to these attacks, Provincial Guard units stationed along the border initiated a series of cross-border strikes against known anarchist positions with their own artillery and light attack aircraft.

It appears that the Korongolese public is divided over how the government and military should continue to respond to these attacks. On one hand, there is now an increased level of support for a full scale military invasion of the Former Delasantan States to remove the threat once and for all. On the other hand, some people believe that the government should attempt to negotiate peacefully with the anarchists instead of simply following their attacks up with retaliatory strikes.

Prime Minister Danvel Isaacson stated Durvya will affirm its commitment to the international Charter for the Rights of the Child, signed on by Durvya during the Dawson Burke government in 1993. Until now there has not been a national office in Durvya solely dedicated to child and youth matters. Conservatives Sweep CoE Elections
Liberal - Social Democratic/Green Alliance Hangs onto Plurality by One Vote

FORESTIA, FR - Both gleeful and disappointed crowds filled the streets of North-Central Forestia as the results of the 2013 Council of Esquarium Elections were announced live on the massive telescreen located on the front side of the Broadcasting Centre, the headquarters of the Aininian Broadcasting Corporation, an event watched by tens of thousands of anxious supporters, staffers and candidates, sitting and standing on Forestia's iconic Roy Thomas Boulevard.

In a massive shock that caught the polling agencies off guard, the Conservatives swept the polls, with 39 CoE constituencies, taking the eternal LSD strongholds of Hartly-Centre, Jasper Hill/The Works, Northwest Forestia and Mount Jasper National Park, in a phenomena nicknamed on social networks as the Tory Invasion. Meanwhile, the Liberal - Social Democrats were reduced to merely 37% of the vote, capturing 31 ridings, while its junior coalition partner made small gains, obtaining 12 seats in the Esquarian Parliament, out of a total of 12.

Even more unexpected than the blue wave that swept the liberal western provinces, the Esquasceptic New Alliance managed to take over the ultraconservative constituency of Clockworks, and the anarcho-capitalist Libertarian Party, a minor party that struggled to even qualify its candidates with the Commissioner of Elections in a vast majority of the constituencies, managed to win 3 seats, which led to a massive storm on microblogging sites, accusing the party of being "the puppet of Thuman" and "a bunch of hipster corporatists", amongst other obscenities, some of which were put under investigation by police for potentially violating cyberbullying legislation.

CoE Coalition - Social Democrats:
Liberal-Social Democratic - 31
Green - 12

CoE Coalition - Esquarian Democratic Union
Conservative - 39

CoE Coalition - Freedom and Sovereignity Union
New Alliance - 1

None
Libertarian - 3

The Nahua Independent Journal

Overhaul of Aztec constitution approved
Supporters hail streamlining and clarification of government processes, but critics fear centralization, enshrining of socialist doctrine.
September 28, 2013

TENOCHITILÁN - AZTEC NATIONAL LEAGUE - After a resounding electoral victory last week, Huey Tlatoani Quetzalcoatl Nochtli and his Socialist Labor Party have successfully passed a significant overhaul of the Aztec National League constitution. The Ad Hoc Committee on Constitutional Revision and Amendments, which was formed two years ago, was directed by Nochtli and the Socialist Leaders of the national legislature - the Tlatocayotl Tetzalan, to streamline the governance process and better define the interaction between local, state and national governments. Nochtli was satisfied with the outcome of the revision process, stating, "This ensures that the Nahua people will have a government that is less bureaucratic and better able to meet the rapidly changing demands of our times. I am truly pleased with the work of the leaders of the Tlatocayotl Tetzalan." Similarly, Speaker Xiuhcoatl Tlaloc stated, "It has been a long road and one that was not always easy. However, I feel that the Socialist leadership has been able to deliver on a key promise of this past election cycle."

However, the newly revised constitution also has its share of detractors. Coyotl Tlacelel, the Tlatocayotli leader of the conservative National Action Front, was greatly displeased with the final outcome. "What we have here is a governing document that is ideological in both rhetoric and governance. Instead of using their majority to better the Aztec National League, the Socialists have used this as an opportunity to solidify their grip over the nation."

In addition to enshrining into the constitution the causes of "brotherhood, solidarity, and justice" - a line directly lifted from the Socialist Labor Party's manifesto, the most controversial revisions revolved around the repeal of several provisions which required major decisions to be approved in national referendums. Popular referendums for amendments to the constitution, have been removed, as has the ability to recall officials. Additionally, the constitution now explicitly states that local and state governments are subservient to the national government, though this has long been the practice. Lastly, all provisions requiring two-thirds votes have also been reduced to simple majorities.

Likewise, members of the Green Party in the Tlatocayotl Tetzalan objected to what they decried as the "militarization" of the constitution. Sergio Leon, the leader of the Greens in the legislature, said, "Again, Nochtli has placed the military as the preeminent entity in the constitution. Without exception, the military is referred to before the people it serves."

Speaker Tlaloc sharply dismissed these concerns, saying "We used an open and transparent process that was well-thought out and took two years to complete. The National Action Front has been well-aware of the process and have been afforded an opportunity to be constructive. Instead, they chose to be on the losing, and I would argue wrong, side of history."

In response to the Green criticisms, Nochtli stated, "As someone who is still a commissioned Jaguar Warrior officer, I know exactly who comes first - the Nahua people."

ABS CBN Asigna Philippine state media.

Meanwhile in Southeastern Asia

Broadcast from the punong (leader) of Asigna Philippines regarding the Zhouran- Philippine crisis

"Today there are regrets to be expressed, be me, who has so for these folks who won't get enough of a standoff. They cannot squelch their thirst for blood... if they do not actually declare their war." *Cheers of approval from soldiers.*

"In the past too, they utilized certain alibis in order to fullfill their need to battle, fine then... if war is something they want, We shall give this fools a war they can never forget!!" *Cheers and applause of approval*

"They can have their war... an irrational at it's best. They have no basis to do so other than to satisfy their need to pound their anger on someone. They do this wars because they have no power to diplomatically support their territorial and hegemonical claims.

They claim the Benham rise and certain other territories along with their Chinese counterpart. Why should there be war when we can just talk this out, over and over again we tried to make diplomatic terms with them but all they give us is lead....

Why do they want war?

To get the Benham?

My comrades.... They claim land with sword....so as long as they can't fight us face to face...the Benham will never be theirs."

*Crowd shouts "Mabuhay!" *

"They have settled to come for this...always by force of arms in order to get what they want....

Why can't they just peacefully settle this matter in tables...people ask...

My answer.... Chinese might be the only language they seem to understand."

*Laughs from the crowd evolves into an applause*

"Our claims on the Benham and the Spratlys are settled and supported by international laws, the diktats of the United nations that we follow well, with outmost integrity, in order to at all.. define our borders. It was since last time that the UN had already supported our claim of then
Benham...therefore, it is ours. Yet these people who watch us from a distance wants to age a conflict in our culturally rich nation, I wish not to engage my people into an irrational war that will meaninglessly make them suffer, for it will ultimately lead us to nothing, Yet should Guo's entourage of war prevail, this declaration for peace will be the last one.

Neither however, even at force of arms, will make the failure of our unity as one peoples.....

The hopes for divisions among us are childish...for we are always united under Asigna.

While Guo believes in the end, Zhouran and his Chinese allies might prevail, i on the other hand believe that Asigna Philippines will win."

*Wild Applause*

"The divine providence, god alone, will determine who's right, Oen thing is for sure, there had never been two victors, while far too often, there had been only many losers, to me however, this war is the last case of that. May those people rise up against this violent conviction before it gains it's power over the rationality that once exists among us in the rich portion of East Asia, and most importantly, may the Philippines triumph, as it is our destiny to be triumphant. I implore to our lord that he will bless this continent and drive it away from the tensions, and i implore the lord to guide us through our struggle, that only peace and unity may be the coat of our time."

*Applause and cheering* *shouts of "Mabuhay! Mabuhay! Mabuhay!* from the crowd.

These are the old streetlights, which date back some 30-40 years:

These are the following streetlights which will be used:

This will be Kelsovia's first locally-assembled Nissan Sunny, ending years of imported versions from Astholm.

Medabalami Automotive GmBH are an British-Indian-Astholmian firm, which have been established since the immigration of Indians into Astholm in the 1940s and 50s.

"If you've got the Measles, I feel bad for you son, 'cause I chose ninety nine needles, but I'm catchin' none."

Warring Health Organizations Reach Compromise, Bringing Peace to Rising Use of Vaccinations in TurtleShroom

JONESBORO – The miniscule, but vocal, anti-vaccine minority in TurtleShroom has made peace with the Church and the country by brokering a deal to end protests and obfuscation of innoculation. Anti-vaccination movements rose from fear of the low-tech, forty year old recipes for immunization and the fears that it could fail to stop the disease.

In exchange for permitting vaccination to remain an option, anti-vaccine organizations have agreed to cease all radio, newspaper, and televised opposition to innoculation, while retaining the right to spread pamphlets and communicate by traditional means of communication.

The Southern Baptist Convention issued condemnations and explusion from membership against any of its member churches that take an anti-vaccine stance. Citing that the government and medical system (not to mention the dozens of parochially run hospital charities) have enough on their plate with the annual bubonic plague burdens and chicken pox outbreaks. In turn, the Catholic Church began Defrocking priests that continued to preach an anti-vaccine stance while acting as earthy shepherds, speaking from the pulpit. Seven bishops and two priests lost their ordinations.

TurtleShroom possesses vaccines for diptheria, tetanus, smallpox, polio, NS/C-Voidaids, hepatitis, measles, and several others, but distinguishly lacks treatments for whooping cough, chickenpox, bubonic plague, any fungal-borne disease, and influenza.
Experimental or annual-injection shots exist for scurvy (deployment concentrated Vitamin C), for some forms of bubonic plague, but these are not yet easy enough to produce for mass consumption. As such, scurvy and bubonic plague remain a curse on the general health of the population.

While treatments do not yet exist for many iconic diseases that have yet to leave the country, TurtleShroom has not experienced a death from the whooping cough in twenty years, and the bubonic plague's mortality rate is falling below five percent for cases that are spotted and sent to the hospital. Even scurvy rates have fallen, thanks to the increasingly cheap manufacturing ofconcentrated Vitamin C extracts.

Experimental addition of Vitamin C into drinking water supplies has been attempted by water companies, but because over eighty percent of the country uses privately pumped, wellwater (both running and traditional) or shares water that is piped into a neighborhood's homes by community wells, this will most liklely benefit few outside the rich cities dwellers and large offices.

Automobile Manufacturers Receive Government Boost
Image
After almost two years of poor local sales compared to foreign automobile manufacturers, several of New Korongo’s largest automobile manufacturers have received additional funding from the government in a corporate aid package worth almost five hundred billions dollars. According to the Minister of Economics & Finance, this aid package is intended to provide New Korongo’s automobile manufacturers with enough money to give them an advantage over foreign brands in the domestic market. The largest amount given to a single company was $120 billion which was transferred to the accounts of Fairmount Springs Automotive, a previously strong manufacturer that has never been able to recover from the civil war, this morning. Another $90 billion was transferred to Three Frontiers, an automobile manufacturer established three years ago to make use of abandoned automobile factories in the three provinces that were formerly part of Anthony Delasanta. Surprisingly the corporate giant Duncoor & Wolfhaven will receive no funds, as the government has deemed their recent defence contracts to be sufficient.

The decision to create the corporate aid package has been heavily criticised by some members of the Korongolese public, especially smaller businesses which continue to suffer without receiving government funding. Adam Wilson, the head of the Small Business Association of New Korongo, said in a television appearance this morning that the package undermines the ability of small business to compete with larger giants and encourages corporate monopolies that will only damage the Korongolese economy .

First Windflow Project Turbine Installed
Image
Despite fears that funding for the ambitious Windflow Project would be cut by the new government coalition in an attempt to increase the defence budget, the first turbine of the project was completed on the farmland of John Pickman in the province of Fairmount Springs yesterday afternoon. The wind turbine stands some eighty metres high and is capable of producing an estimated 500 kilowatts of power per year. This landmark achievement in the Windflow Project has been praised by environmentalists and infrastructure analysts. Heather McDonald, the leader of the Dragonvale Society of Environmentalism, said on her blog this morning that “the completion of this wind turbine is a monumental example of the Korongolese will to ensure that Earth remains a habitable garden for millions of years to come”. She also warned that it would be “incredibly stupid” for the government to cancel the Windflow Project now. James Marden, CEO of the infrastructure think-tank National Discovery, claimed during a television appearance yesterday evening that the Windflow Project is a one-of-a-kind example of the Korongolese government working directly with the people of the nation to develop infrastructure that should be watched and followed closely by the governments of other nations. The government has remained quiet on the Windflow Project so far, perhaps in preparation to make a final decision on the future of the Windflow Project.

For those that do not know, the Windflow Project is a large scale infrastructure development project intended to build three thousand wind turbines across the nation by the year 2018. Each turbine is to be constructed on private farmland in New Korongo’s mountain areas to harness the winds that are funneled naturally through the valleys. In exchange for allowing the construction of each turbine, the owner of the farmland each turbine is built on will receive an increased water allowance and greater government assistance during periods of drought or extreme cold.

Government Orders UPCU To Initiate Large Scale Strikes
Image
After the recent anarchist attacks on the Korongolese border, the new coalition that now leads the Korongolese government has ordered the Unreo Provincir Cimmo Untead (United Provinces Air Force) to initiates a series of large scale aerial strikes against targets across the western half of the Former Delasantan States. Some two hundred combat aircraft, including A-10C Thunderbolt II ground attack aircraft and B-1B Lancer strategic bombers, could be seen crossing the border this morning headed for targets. Many Korongolese citizens have cheered the heavy handed approach to retaliation taken by the new coalition government. Others, including several prominent human rights organisations, have condemned the Korongolese government for their decision. They claim that that the escalation from small scale cross-border strikes to large scale military operations will only endanger the lives of civilians and prevent the recovery of the Former Delasantan States.

In a press conference at noon today a representative of the CPCU, Vice Vice-Marshal Thomas Varce, outlined the retaliatory strikes which have been codenamed Operation Eagle Talon. “The primary mission objective of Eagle Talon is to reduce the combat effectiveness of the militant anarchist forces that threaten our border towns with terrorist attacks to zero. Over the next two weeks, one hundred sorties involving two thousand aircraft will attack anarchist targets which have been located through the use of satellite surveillance and aerial reconnaissance.” He said. In an attempt to alleviate the fears of human rights organisations, he also stated that “the avoidance of civilian casualties is paramount to the justification of our retaliation”. As few journalists that have ventured into the Former Delasantan States have ever returned, it will be difficult to assess whether or not Operation Eagle Talon does inflict casualties among the civilian populations.

Terten returns from his short trip in Kuala lumpur, after a short meeting with the leader of the nation of national socialist Philippines, an alternate universe version of Asigna Philippines. Talks are implied to have been all about Asigna Philippines' existing tensions with the nation of the republic of Zhouran. The city of Kuala Lumpur recently has been occupied by Asigna Philippine forces after the passage of Ordinance Palaris, an ordinance dedicated in restoring order as a result of terror attacks against the SEATO offices of the respective nations. The ordinance has been criticized by the opposition as imperialistic in a way that "political freedoms and the unilateral sovereignty of the affected nations by instituting political control by dissolving the governments of the occupied regions". The opposition is known to be members of the liberal party and is making different stances against the actions being done by the Asigna government regarding the crisis between Asigna Philippines and the alliance of the BRS, known to be the largest alliance in the world.
