whatever you say Vlad

Fact: Scientists in Wanjestay have been able to reverse engineer a dna re-sequencer recovered from the wreckage of an ancient Vainian ship found in the deserts south Crellos Colony. As a consequence of this, the dodo and wholly mammoth have both been successfully recreated.

Plans are in motion to reintroduce a host of extinct species, including white and black rhinos, Crellan Leopards and Kainan Pandas (differing from a normal panda due to its size, 3 times as large as a normal panda and its ability to chow down on almost anything).

sorry wrong thread.

President Yevgeni Larzov resigns!

Postby Federated Russias » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:06 pm

The Russian President has been appointed to the Foreign Service instead by his successor, and will be assigned a diplomatic posting soon.

The new head of state is President Ilya D. Stepanov. Deputy Premier Grigori I. Samsonov has become Premier. Foreign Minister Pavel I. Borodin is now Deputy Premier as well as keeping his present post.

In other news, the Constituent Assembly has voted to declare Russian Orthodox Christianity "the majority faith", but not the official state religion.

Elderly man assaulted in Sejar

Postby Kugelklitz » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:09 pm

Elderly man assaulted in city center

An elderly man was assaulted last night as he walked home from a bar in the city center of Sejar, in the east of the country. CCTV cameras recently installed by the government for the safety of its citizens were able to capture the sickening attack by a group of youths, who fled when other civilians approached them. According to the CCTV footage, all of the youths responsible for the vile act were wearing hooded tops, meaning identifying them is going to be extremely difficult. When they are identified they will likely be subjected to suitable punishments, as one of the main reasons that Kugelklitz chose to implement compulsory military training was to reduce the amount of youth crime in the region. According to analysts, the implementation of this system has dropped the amount of youth-perpetrated crimes by as much as 70% in just four years.

The fleeing youths were seen running towards the city center, and witnesses or friends of these attackers are encouraged to come forward with evidence to the police. They will be allowed to remain confidential in this matter. The victim, Samuel Allen, received multiple blows to the chest, and shockingly, one of the youths can be seen kicking him in the head. He remains in a stable condition in the Sejan Hospital. The motivation for this attack is yet to be discovered, though all news relating to this brutal attack will be given as soon as the attackers are brought to justice.

Do the police investigating require a clairvoyant from Wanjestay to locate the gang? By holding the clothes of the victim, clairvoyants working for Wanjestayan police have been able to locate the attackers several times. Clairvoyant police officers have a remarkable success rate (96% average, as opposed to 87% nation wide).

Would you be willing to send a clairvoyant from Wanjestay? If so, we would like to test this method. It would be interesting to see, and perhaps if it is successful, we could employ one of your clairvoyants here in Kugelklitz, to train our own clairvoyants. Before going to the expense of bringing a clairvoyant through however, it is important to check that their skills will not be impacted by wearing latex gloves, to ensure that we do not damage potential evidence that could be beneficial to have. If this is acceptable, we would be more than willing to have a clairvoyant travel here. Of course, we will ensure that he is able to travel here freely, in second class seating aboard a Kugelflug passenger aircraft. Accommodation could also be arranged, in a high quality hotel in the Sejar area, where the attack took place. Should it be needed, a rental car could be procured to aid the clairvoyant in traveling around the city. We would be more than willing to test a Wanjestay clairvoyant.

Thank you, friends in Wanjestay for your aid. Is the clairvoyant willing to take the offer of the free travel and other extras, such as the rental car? We can provide all of this, assuming that the perpetrators are found, so that we may make an example of them. Should the clairvoyant be willing to accept the rental car, it will be parked outside the airport in Lirath, a mere 45 minute drive away from the city of Sejar. This drive will also allow your clairvoyant to enjoy the lush countryside and forests of Kugelklitz, before getting down to work on what is undoubtedly a brutal case. Currently we have been able to request that a 2007 Audi A4 is held over for your clairvoyant, though should they decline this offer, the car will be returned to its standard state as a 'high-range sedan' with our rental agencies. I believe we also missed another important question: what is this clairvoyant's name? It could be helpful in the future should we be able to praise him in a later news article, following a successful capture of those responsible.

Julianus Nimay is his name. He comes from a long line of powerful clairvoyants (and as such his family has a history of madness but he's too young to be mad yet) and accepts your generous offer.

- LE BREHOUEQIEN -

ROCQ-CHAUX – The ministry of Tourism of Brehoueq just announced that new resorts will be build in the quartiers Pont d’Île, Petite Floride and Côte-Chaux. Brehoueq’s economy is built on Tourism, and that is why the ministery of Tourism has decided to invest in this branch

“I am glad to hear this”; says Emille du Château owner of La perle de la Grande Baie Resort in La Colline. “When it is summer many European, American and Japanese people visit Brehoueq to get tanned on the beaches and swim in the lagunes. Because Brehoueq is a popular destination for summerholidays many resorts are full, so they need to refuse some tourists. That is a shame, because more tourists means more money”.
The minister of Tourism, Vivienne de Lacroix said: “Brehoueq is a paradise for people who love the sun, beaches and lagunes. People love to stay in hotels near the beaches, but resorts with bungalows on water are getting more popular. Just look at our neighbour French-Polynesia, they have built many resorts and many tourists visites them. Brehoueq needs to be a holiday spot where people can spend their holidays in a beautiful hotel, but also a beautiful resort built near the lagunes”.
Our Prince Dennis Floréan of Brehoueq decided to invited some collegues from other states to show them the progress of the Brehoueqian Economy and her role as one of the most famous holiday-spots.
To be continued..

ROCQ-CHAUX – The presentation of the new Embassy program planned for this month is delayed to next month.

According to Étienne du Vieuxlacq, minister of foreign affairs, the list of places where Embassies can be built isn’t complete. Also the designing of new license plates is a cause of the delay, because the ministry of Traffic wasn’t sure about a special license plate for embassies until yesterday. The ministry has come to an agree and now ‘La loi de la plaque d'immatriculation’ is being used. (Read more about this on page 2).

The new embassy program will allow more nations to build more embassies in Brehoueq. In the past nations could only build embassies in Rocq-Chaux, because that was the touristic part of the island. But today every quartier of Brehoueq has their own touristic spots so embassies can be built in every quartier.

NEW OFFICES BUILT FOR IMMOBILIER DE L’ÉTAT BREHOUEQIEN (IEB)
IEB, the Brehoueqian Real Estate has finished building 3 new offices in Brehoueq. Last year IEB decided to build new offices so people can visit an IEB-office in their own quartier. The new offices are built in: La Coeur (Rue de la Épiphanie), La Colline (Avenue Tortueuse) and Petite Floride (Boulevard de St. Augustin).

Prince Sergan is formally elected Co-Regent!

Postby Vystercia-Nasucrea » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:55 pm

The Grand Diet took about 2 minutes to convene and formally elect Prince Sergan of Nasucrea the new Co-Regent of Vystercia-Nasucrea, to rule as King in tandem with King Ar-Yos I. He will now be known as His Royal Highness, Sergan I, King of Vystercia-Nasucrea, and thus be equal with his royal father-in-law, King Ar-Yos I. Princess Veronica, as agreed, will be Her Royal Highness, Veronica, Queen Consort of Vystercia-Nasucrea. His other wife, Dr. Alessandra Peroni, has opted to remain a morganatic wife, as being Queen Consort would require her to resign as Minister of Health. Queen Veronica's wife, Tralla Calvari, has also declined a regal title.

Regent Andra Delivers First Post-War Civil Address
Republic Press

ARYLYX CITY - Regent-elect Andra Lee, 22, delivered a civil address today in Victory Center, her first since the ceasefire agreement ten days ago. Hundreds gathered to observe the speech, which coincided with her opening ceremony of the public square.

Regent Andra (who has insisted the press not refer to her as "Princess") spoke mainly of the current issues facing the public, most notably the economy, which saw a downturn in recent days from its already precarious state.

"The rebuilding of Arylyx is not going to be easy," said the Regent. "We all know this. And we have been through worse--far worse. As before, as ever, we must stand together as a people and help each other through the trials ahead."

The Regent also spoke of the newly established government. "We have not governed ourselves for a long time," she stated. "The wrongs of the past are always a driving force in the process of building the republic, and there are new mistakes which we must learn from as well."

In closing, Andra gave cause to reflect on the future of Arylyx. "Our freedom was not given; we fought for it, died for it, and won it. We can still lose our freedom; not just to the outer forces of tyranny, but to the inner forces of corruption. Vigilance is our best defense, silence our worst enemy."

The address was followed by an all-day celebration to inaugurate Victory Center. Lazurite Castle on the western corner stands incomplete, its construction postponed to focus on building local enterprise and businesses; the Regent resides for now in the dormitory apartments of Capital University, where she continues her tertiary education.

Peace declared with Zonolian rebels
Peace was declared today, between the government backed Zonolian government, and the Socio-Capitalist rebels.
The civil war, led to 22 million men being mobilised in The Matthew Islands, with almost 8 million, being sent to the islands to fight and the almost complete destruction of several Zonolian cities after intense fighting to liberate them.
Speaking outside the Fort Zono field HQ, itself the site of one of the biggest battles of the war, Field Marshall Gort had this to say,
"I can confirm, that approximately 2 hours ago, at 12:05 I gave the order for all units in Zonolia, to stand down, and begin accepting rebel prisoners. Some fighting is still ongoing, due to communication problems, however, the war at large, is over."
Stay with us as we get more information.

Man romantically unites with a street lamp; humor ensues
SETO, ARAO COMMUNE- The 46-year-old Arao Council representative for this small township of merely 268 people was obviously never able to find love in his life. No matter what, date after date either died or rejected him over a 26-year period of attempting to get romantic success. While it's not exactly orthodox, however, he has finally found it.

Masaoka Kinfuyu, in an open press conference Tuesday, declared that he would be romantically uniting with a street lamp he found in his village, right next to the local Sen-shijō convenience store. He said he began having feelings for the lamp around last year's Yuki Sai festival in the Seto Township, not too far from the modestly populated city of Taketa in Arao Commune. Around the Atarashii Hi* event, he reportedly began jacking off in his car right next to it.

Now, he says, the thing he has been waiting on for two-and-a-half decades is right in that pole.

"She's what I always wanted," he says. "I know I sound really weird, but I am in love with this pole. And let me tell you something- it's not as weird as that guy that tried kissing a llama and got his head torn off."

The Seto Township Chamber is currently voting on whether or not to allow Masaoka to take the pole home with him. So far, the resolution seems to be passing, as it won't require too many pondos to remove the pole from the ground and replace it with another one.

(OOC: * Atarashii Hi is a festival in Nichibotsu Gishiki, as is Yuki Sai. The former is held around the beginning of April (depending upon the area, though usually on April 2nd), and the latter is held from the 23rd to 26th of December.)
All info posted before October 31, 2010 is probably incorrect, so don't even try referencing it. I'm revamping this nation. Thank you.

Corporal Punishment Called into Question

Image

Most school kids in Eeri will tell you if anything will come from acting up in class it will mean a good whooping by the teacher's paddling stick. But how long can this tradition continue? Senator Andrew Keeling (L-Thompson County) is preparing to introduce new legislation on Wednesday's session of Congress about the overall outlawing of corporal punishment in schools.

The bill which would take affect next year if passed would prohibit any teacher from taking any form of physical discipline to a student for any reason this includes slapping the wrist, paddling the rear, slapping or whipping. "It is not the school's job to institute such forms of punishment. The schools must be places of learning not chambers of horrors." Keeling's bill is endorsed by The Child Pediatrics and Psychiatrists Association (CPPA) and the minority Teachers Union. "Studies have shown children physically attacked in such manners are more likely to become violent themselves." Dr. Marie Ramsasy said. "The continued act of this will surely lead Eeri's children down a dangerous path." Members of the 300 membered Teachers Union also agree. "We cannot be the judge, jury and executioners of discipline. It is not of our democratic system." Said Sadie-Lee Andrews head of the union. "We expect the parents to take proper action."

Besides the possible psychological implications supporters of the bill also cite the unknown factors of the current system. "Under our current system," Keeling continued "A teacher can hold a student for an indefinite period of time and institute any manner of punishment regardless of the seriousness of the offense. A teacher who doesn't like a child can sadistically give a whacking for something as trivial as leaving a gum wad on the desk." In the past others have tried to implicate various kinds of safe guards. In 1997 Senator Caorlanne Thompson (C, Georgia County) proposed varying speeds for a paddler for different offenses. While mostly laughed at some schools did try to apply it. In 2000 Jack Torrence (I, Iron County) proposed the "different caliber amendments" where the punishment would match the crime. For example a minor offense such as tardiness, speaking out of turn, cursing would get a slap on the wrist by a ruler, a heavier offense such as truancy, minor substance possession (alcohol or tobacco), fighting would warrant a heavy paddling (maybe two). Much of the schools around Eeri took on the caliber amendments with the exception of Georgia Country Agriculture School which maintained its own standards. (A paddle to the hide for any rule breaking).

Still it is the intention of Keeling to ban the practice from all schools nationwide. But many do not want this. Much of the Conservative Party opposes the bill as well as a majority of nations teachers and parents. "Students need to be taught proper discipline." says Kenner-Yuki Johansen Principle of G.C. Agriculture Community High. "To suddenly change the way we discipline is just pathetic."

Conservative Talk Radio Host Alex Roberts had this to say:

"Have you heard this nonsense? Liberal Andrew Keeling is asking to ban punishment in schools. Soon we'll be like those silly liberal nations like Fatta-what-ever with wide eyed simpletons wandering around with out a goal."

The bill will be debated on, President Daichi has no immediate comment.

His Most Serene Majesty the King, acting on the advice of his First Chancellor, the Lord Dargis, has enacted via the sign-manual major changes to the Astralsiderian Constitution. The currently tricameral - Commons, Senate, Lords - system is to be abolished. It will be replaced by a bicameral system, the lower house to be known as the House of Representatives, the upper to be known as the Legislative Council. This necessitates a change of government, which will happen forthwith.

"Welcome to the One O'Clock News, from MRTV. Phing Phong's largest ever oil rig began production today at 9:56 this morning, marking a new era in self-sufficiency for our nation. The rig, run by the state oil company National Oil, is situated 67 miles off the coast of Phing Phong, and will bring thousands of new jobs to citizens, both on the rig itself and in the petrochemical industry. As a result of the increased domestic oil being produced, petrol prices are expected to decrease from 69.4/litre to around 65/litre. The government is planning on raising fuel tax for domestic and commercial vehicles to increase revenue, though most citizens will not notice the rise due to the petrol price drop.

In other news, the 800,000 refugees from the Fascist Empire are beginning to arrive in Phing Phong. The refugees, most of whom have roots in Phing Phong and the surrounding area, were transferred as part of a relief operation by the RCPCO, and have caused a small boom in the printing industry due to increased demand for copies of the Constitution and Pledges of Allegiance.

Next on MRTV-1 is the Politics Daily show, featuring Phraya G. Rattanakosin, the Minister of Finance, on why she feels economic reform and privatisation is necessary for continued growth. We wish you a happy day, and tune in again at Seven O'Clock for the next news update. Goodbye."

Hurricane Belmont kills 1,234,812 as of statistics now, 760,040 reported missing. Hundreds of millions, possibly billions, damage done. Luckily, we are receiving aid from not only ourselves, but our northern neighbours, Minlanda, and a large nation not too for away, Kanderstacke.
