Formal Request To Join UE Passes in Szenat; Debated in Lordow

Image
Although passing by a large majority, debates within the Szenat continued long into the night, only concluding at around 11 PM local time.

Bill S.B. 1047, more commonly known as the UE Integration Bill, has passed 86-59 within the Szenat, along with two abstinences. The bill, which would put into motion a formal request by the government of Meris to join the Union of Euralia, has been hotly debated in both houses of Parliament, and is likely to face a far more difficult path to approval my the more conservative Izna xea Lordow, or House of Lords.

Proponents of joining the UE within the Szenat highlighted the variety of potential economic advantages, increased trade opportunities with neighbours such as Syrasia, and strengthened diplomatic ties that could arise from such an alliance. They argued that Meris would gain access to a wider Euralian market, bolstering economic growth, attracting foreign investment, and creating new job opportunities for its citizens. Furthermore, they emphasized the significance of collaboration on common challenges, such as climate change, regional security, and cross-border crime. Opponents of the bill, however, expressed concerns over potential loss of sovereignty and the impact on Meris' cultural identity, particularly in regards to being so close to Syrasia. They argued that joining the UE could erode the nation's unique decision-making autonomy, leaving the aristocracy subject to external democratic regulations and policies. Detractors also raised apprehensions about the financial implications, citing the potential cost of UE membership and the need for significant domestic reforms to meet UE standards, particularly in regards to the nation's competitively low GDPPP when compared to member nations within the Union. All of these issues are very likely to be brought up when the Bill is debated in the House of Lords this coming week.

Arcis Dike System to be Expanded after Spring Floods

In response to the devastating spring floods that swept through many parts of the eastern Great Lakes region in March and April, officials in the Department of Infrastructure have announced plans to modernize and expand dike systems in vulnerable areas. The move comes as communities continue to recover from the damage caused by the floodwaters, which left many homes and businesses submerged after many of the over three-decade dikes around the city of Arcis failed. The expansion and modernization of dike systems is seen as a crucial step in preventing future flooding and protecting the safety of residents living in and around the Great Lakes. Newer dikes constructed in Tyrene, which are designed to redirect water away from populated areas while also generating hydroelectric power have already proved to be effective in mitigating the impact of floodwaters.

The move has been welcomed by residents and community leaders around Arcis, many of whom have been calling for greater investment in flood protection measures. "We're thrilled to see that the national government is taking action to protect our community from future floods," said Kamil Cilos, mayor of Mísmora, a town on the outskirts of Arcis. "It's been a very tough few months, but we feel much more secure knowing that these measures are being put in place."

The announcement of the dike system expansion comes as part of a broader, 450 million Cyra package of measures aimed at improving flood resilience across the country. Other measures include increased investment in flood warning systems and the development of emergency response plans in case of future flooding. The government states that it's committed to working closely with communities to ensure that the measures are implemented effectively and that residents are kept informed of progress. "We know that flooding can have a devastating impact on people's lives, and we're determined to do everything we can to prevent it from happening again," said Faris Viktória, a spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure.

Stedvir Urges Intervention in Königstahl

Alin Stedvir, Lord of Borealas in northwestern Meris, has raised eyebrows in the press today by directly calling on the League of Nations to take action within the current civil conflict in Königstahl. These statements come in light of the fact that although the Merisian embassy within the Königstahler capital of Stattenburg had been partially evacuated, 12 members of the Merisian diplomatic corps are missing and presumed killed after rebel forces bombarded the embassy district with cluster munitions. “What happened in Stattenburg is not only a war crime and an atrocious act of inhumanity, but an utter disgrace on the nation of Königstahl.” Stevir spoke at a press conference last evening. Not only referring to the rebel forces, Stedvir referred to the Königstahler military and government forces “cowardly” for abandoning the city and its civilian populace.

Later on in the press conference, Stedvir stated his intent to introduce a bill to mandate a government condemnation and potential military action against Königstahl with the support of both the Merprizy party to which he belongs, and the wider government as a whole. He has also stated his intent to request an official economic and military intervention by the League of Nations in order to have a more organized international diplomatic response towards the civil war. In addition to the deaths of the 12 embassy staff members, an unknown number of Merisian civilians are likely still trapped within the city.

WAR CONTINUES: TANNISCH ADVANCES IN NEUSTADT
Tannisch forces begin the battle for Neustadt, resistance in cities continues.

Major Advances

In the past 12 days, Tannisch forces, using their momentum from the beginning of the war, began to make major advances. In the East, near Neustadt, the first and third infantry divisions, the 1st armored division, and 2ndmechanized division under the leadership of General Tobias Schreiber, begin to assault. The 2nd mechanized division and 3rd infantry division move South capturing the Eastern suburbs of the city. Meanwhile the 1st infantry and 1st armored attack Westward beginning the assault on the city's core. On the 8th Tannisch forces began engaging the Königstahler military however they got repelled into the more urban areas of the city.

In the West, the 2nd infantry division and 1st mechanized division begins a push towards the lightly defended city of Wurzelheim. The advance begun on the 10th and has seen relatively few casualties as they advance Southward. Königstahl are diverting forces garrisoning Eichendorf to ensure that the city stays in Königstahler hands due to the large port in the city.

Urban Warfare

Guerilla warfare in the cities of Voltenheim and Stattenburg have significantly increased. Tannisch militias in the cities have taken several blocks from the government forces. railroads and highways into the city have been destroyed by Tannisch saboteurs 7 days ago. In the brutal fighting taking place several thousands have died, militiamen and non-combatants alike. Indiscriminate fire by the Königstahler military have caused 17,000 casualties among the civilian populace since the beginning of the crisis when the last data regarding casualties was released. The brutal street to street warfare caused several thousand casualties on both sides of the military combat. Partisan resistance began to spring up in several other Königstahler cities such as Neustadt, Neuschloss, and Glückstadt.

The Queen's Decree

On the morning of the 11th, after the offensives were long underway. The Queen gives a speech to the international community
Gott Erhalte Tannenreich!"

"This is a war we can and must win. The speed of the war however is not up to us. We will inevitably win this war, the government does not have enough bullets to kill everyone. However, we need aid coming from other nations to be able to repel the oppressors from our country once and for all. This war will be brutal, many of us will lose loved ones in the ensuing struggle. However with determination we will be able to live in a free and democratic society. Once we win this war, we will immediatly begin work to ensure that our country becomes a bastion of democracy and liberty. Today we defend liberty, if we falter, if we slow down, if we stop, if we cower to the enemy, liberty will go extinct with the last resistance to their rule. However if we stand and fight back today, we will be able to ensure that our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so on, can look to the past and see the struggle that their ancestors fought and died for. If we succeed, every single warrior on the battlefield whether in the military or in the cities, will be immortal. Even though your name might not be known, your deed has been and will always be imortal. Gott Erhalte Tannenreich! "

With this the Queen sends an open letter to the heads of state of every nation considering aiding Tannenreich asking for any military aid they can provide to ensure they are not steamrolled by the Königstahler military once they regroup.

EMBASSY SIEGE
The Diplomatic District of Stattenheim in military occupation, Military begins siege of embassies

Early Friday morning, several units of the Königstahler 1st infantry division and 2nd armored division began to coalesce outside of the embassies in the diplomatic district. The military walks in and reoccupies all the embassies that were vacated in the previous weeks, however those who remain occupied by their home nations find themselves with the exits blockaded. None with as many military assets surrounding it as the embassy of Norudo. Five T-62 tanks stand outside the building along with 150 soldiers. Another 240 soldiers are stationed away from the building to prevent Tannisch militia's from attempting to break the blockade. The commander of the forces demand the total surrender of all the staff within the embassy.

While the siege began, Queen Elisabeth von Tanix calls Momoko II, the head of state of Norudo, asking them if they could provide assistance to those in the embassy by providing air support, transportation, and special forces to help evacuate the building. Before the call was made the entire Tannisch air force as well as a strike group consisting of three transport helicopters and one attack helicopter are readied in the airbase outside of Rosenheim ready for deployment to the embassy.

'New chapters' as Meris candidacy accepted for the Union of Euralia
Negotiations on terms of entry expected to be 'constructive and positive'

19th FEB. 2024
ONLINE VIEWING

Smiling faces left the Euralian Council meeting yesterday after a unanimous vote by all leaders of Euralian Union countries confirmed that the candidacy for Syrasia's northern neighbour, Meris, has been accepted, and negotiations between the Union and Meris can begin as soon as possible.

When asked about the developments in First Secretary's Questions, Archie Wilson used this as a front to attack the Eurasceptics in both the Opposition parties and his own backbenchers, citing the "increasing need for Syrasia to play a role in leading Euralian consensus and progress". When challenged by the Union Party leader Neil Foot on attempting to reach out to the wider Albasphere of nations and former colonies, Wilson quickly batted away such a desire, decisively stating that "Syrasia is not an empire anymore. We cannot remain stuck in a past which no longer exists. Our former dominions have shown time and time again complete disregard for their former ancestral roots, so let us make sure we do what we can to maintain Syrasia's destiny in Euralia. I am sure the Right Honourable Gentleman will come back next week with that ludicrous claim."

It is expected for negotations between Meris and the Union to go smoothly, with high hopes of the potential newest member of the UoE to accept the new Euralian Livre. It is also expected that once these ascension negotiations are completed, the Union of Euralia will then turn its attention to completing a much rumoured trade agreement with Matomania.

Syrasia to Request for Military Intervention in the current Konigstahler Civil Conflict
Imperial Government already pushing for the barring of Konigstahl in international sporting events

It is expected in the coming weeks that the Syrasian Union will push for a formal resolution in the League of Nations Security Council regarding the current situation in Konigstahl.

The Imperial Government since 2003 rejected the legitimacy of the regime which usurped the Tannenreich monarchy back in 2003, and the most recent developments regarding the civil conflict has left many believing more should be done to prevent further chaos in the region. Already, the Syrasian Imperial Government has issued this statement in regards to the intensification of the civil war:
"The Syrasian Union has never recognised the government of the State of Konigstahl as the legitimate government of Tannenreich, nor does Syrasia trust the new monarchy in bringing about the long term peace in the region which is desired globally. As a result, the Syrasian Union will be issuing a resolution with the League of Nations Security Council to authorise the creation and use of a military coalition to bring about a new, stable system of government in Tannenreich. This would be in accordance with international law and the League's Right to Protect Principle. We believe neither side of the conflict have the interest of citizens in mind, and believe it is the League's mandate to reform the country to a stable state."

BLANCOR TODAY: NEW PARTY, ELECTORAL CHANGES AND A NEW FLAG

Postby Blancor » Fri May 19, 2023 1:29 pm

NEW PARTY FORMED: THE EQUALITY PARTY

Blancor's political landscape has seen the emergence of a new left-wing party that is making waves with its bold vision for the future. The recently founded Equality Party aims to tackle inequality and promote social justice by advocating for the nationalization of major industries, including schools. With the next parliamentary elections being planned for 2026, many are eagerly watching to see if this progressive party can gain a foothold in the government and bring substantial changes.
At the core of the Equality Party's platform is the belief that major industries should be owned and operated by the public, rather than by private entities. One sector that has received particular attention is education. The party proposes the nationalization of schools, aiming to create an even playing field and eliminate the need for private institutions. By bringing education under public ownership, the Equality Party believes that it can increase the overall education level and provide equal opportunities for all Blancorian students.
Proponents of public ownership in education highlight several key advantages. They argue that it will ensure equal access to quality education for all, irrespective of socioeconomic background. By eliminating private schools, the party aims to bridge the educational gap and reduce disparities in learning outcomes. Supporters also emphasize that public ownership will prioritize the well-being of students and teachers over profit motives, leading to improved educational standards and a more supportive learning environment.

DEBATE OPENED TO CHANGE THE BLANCORIAN ELECTORAL SYSTEM

Beyond the debate surrounding the Equality Party's policies on education, their emergence has sparked a broader discussion about the need for electoral reform in Blancor. Many voices within the parliament argue that the current voting system does not adequately represent the diverse views and preferences of the Blancorian population. They propose increasing the number of seats in the parliament to ensure a more proportional representation, allowing for a broader range of voices and perspectives to be heard. The parliament is currently made up 27 seats with many claming that 27 is not a optimal number to represent the needs and desires of a steadly growing population.
Opponents of changing the voting system argue that increasing the number of seats may lead to political fragmentation, making it more challenging to form stable and effective governments. They caution against diluting the decision-making process and emphasize the importance of maintaining clear mandates from the electorate. They also raise logistical concerns about the costs and logistical challenges associated with expanding the parliament.

A NEW FLAG FOR BLANCOR?

Aside from the electoal change, another idea was brought up in todays parliaments hearing. The nation's current flag, which holds historical significance, has come under scrutiny for its association with the millitary dictatorship, that ruled the country with an iron frist from 1972 to 2020, and values that no longer resonate with many Blancorians. As a result, there is a growing sentiment that it is time for a change.
The existing national flag, which posts a blue eagle on a white, blue and orange cross, deespite being a symbol of heritage, fails to capture the diverse and inclusive spirit of modern Blancor. Many people no longer identify themselves with the flag and believe that it no longer reflects the progressive values of the nation. In response to this sentiment, a referendum has been announced for the 1st of March, where Blancorians will have the opportunity to decide the fate of their national flag.
The decision to seek public input through a referendum highlights the commitment of Blancor's government to inclusivity and democratic decision-making. By involving the citizens in the flag redesign process, the government aims to ensure that the new flag truly reflects the values, aspirations, and collective identity of the Blancorian people.
The debate surrounding the national flag redesign has sparked enthusiasm and anticipation among the populace, with many people wanting the national animal, the peaceful living capybara, to be represented on the flag and it being the first thing people think of when thinking and talking about Blancor.

ÀIRD NA COILLE ARMORY SIEGED - OCCUPIED

TERRORIST ATTACKS IN EAST T.N.G CONTINUE AS COLOM PADRAIG EXERCISES EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY

In a shocking turn of events this morning, the notorious Anti-Syrasian terrorist group, now operating under the name "Comann Sàbhailteachd na Gàidhlig" (Gaelic Preservation Alliance), successfully seized control of the Àird na Coille armory. Despite efforts by Clan Police, the operation resulted in numerous casualties, injuries, and prisoners. As investigations into the incident unfold, speculation regarding the group's weapons supply and the identities of their high-ranking members has intensified.

Reports indicate that the Àird na Coille armory, a crucial security facility in the region, fell into the hands of the Gaelic Preservation Alliance. The well-coordinated operation caught Clan Police off guard, leading to limited resistance and significant losses on the government's side. The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, but early accounts indicate a high toll on law enforcement officers.

The origins of the weapons used by the Gaelic Preservation Alliance remain a mystery. While no specific individuals or groups have been identified as the direct suppliers, various theories have emerged within the public sphere. The lack of concrete evidence regarding the source of their arsenal has fueled speculations ranging from internal corruption to international arms trafficking networks.

In response to the crisis, the Gaelic Assembly unanimously voted in favor of the Prime Executor Action, enabling a comprehensive investigation into the Anti-Syrasian group and their affiliates. As part of these efforts, a classified document has been created, outlining key suspects believed to be influential members of the Gaelic Preservation Alliance. Although the exact contents of the document remain undisclosed to the public, Assembly members have assured the press that the investigation is rigorous and thorough.

As the situation continues to evolve, authorities are actively working to regain control of the Àird na Coille armory and secure the release of any remaining hostages. Clan Police, supported by specialized units and intelligence agencies, are coordinating efforts to neutralize the Gaelic Preservation Alliance and dismantle their network. The government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that may aid in apprehending the terrorists.

The seizure of the Àird na Coille armory by the Gaelic Preservation Alliance marks a significant escalation in their campaign against Syrasian influence. The audacious attack has exposed weaknesses in security protocols and raises questions about potential internal support for the terrorist organization. With investigations underway and the Prime Executor Action in effect, authorities remain committed to restoring order and ensuring the safety of the populace. The public eagerly awaits further updates on the ongoing situation, hoping for a swift resolution to this perilous threat.

More updates as they come.

A QUEEN'S PEACE
Queen of Tannenreich announces 6 point plan for a post war Tannenreich

Early Monday morning, a document written by the Queen and signed by Tannenreich's three highest generals, as well as the mayors and leaders of local administrations of all of Tannenreich's cities under their control. The document signed details the Queen's six step plan for after the civil war to transition Tannenreich away from the dictatorship that has ruled the country for so long.

1. The Constitution
After the war, leaders of cities, towns, interests groups, minorities, religious leaders, labor leaders, and other influential members of Tannisch society, will be called to a 1,000 member congress. This congress will create, debate, and vote on every aspect of the constitution from the nature of Tannisch democracy to the role of the monarch in government or the lack there of. The constitution will make care to ensure that the rights of the citizen, to speech, to strike, to protest, to assembly, to life, and to liberty, are enshrined in a document immune from governments whom wish to do harm on the people.

2. Democracy
Following the constitutional convention, elections will need to happen very soon after to ensure that the government can quickly rebuild from the war. The new Tannisch government will ensure that the election is free and fair, every vote will be counted with the utmost transparency and diligence. Failure to uphold the principles of democracy and liberty enshrined in a victory against the Königstahler regime shows that the government is no better than the very thing so many have fought against. Even when the battle against the regime is won, the war will continue to rage on to preserve liberty and freedom in all of Tannenreich.

3. Justice
Tristan Döhl and his cronies must be tried for their crimes, the murder, fraud, embezzlement, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. While they must face trial for their crimes their trial must be free and fair. A kangaroo court will only hinder justice. They must be tried in a public court, with jurors of their peers, they must be given a defense and an impartial judge. We will make sure that all these are met for their trial.

4. Reconciliation
Königstahler soldiers are our fellow countrymen, lead astray. For those who did not participate in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or other high crimes, they must be pardoned for their tacit support for the regime. Imprisoning thousands of our brothers and sisters who were simply following orders trying to put food on the table for their families were not the ones who orchestrated the violence, nor were they the ones to perpetrate it, the everyday soldier of the regime were the first victims of the violence of the regime.

5. Restoration
International relations and support are necessary for the rebuilding of Tannenreich. We must rebuild the bridges burnt by the regime and strive towards a Tannenreich well integrated in the global order. Our nation for most of its history has been a nation built on trade, we should strive to return to that. We must begin official diplomatic missions to other countries as soon as possible once we win.

6. Rebuilding
Rebuilding will be a monumental task. Many people have already lost their lives in the war. Livelihoods have been destroyed. We must work with the utmost haste to rebuild Tannenreich to its former glory. We must ensure that in our economic struggles, that as much of our economy and our people are salvaged to ensure the prosperity of the Tannisch people.

After the paper is spread across the internet, she writes letters to all world leaders containing the memorandum in hopes of building foreign support behind Tannenreich's liberation.

BIRTH OF THE MERIDIS COALITION

What it is, and what it means

February 24, 2024

ALERALSK, TVEMBOV (TBC) - Massive news have been revealed this morning, as President Lev Voronin has just announced that Tvembov is now a member of a military alliance. The Republic is one of the four founding members of the Meridis Coalition, the others being Prena, the Northeastern Commonwealth, and Matomania. Prior to the alliance, the same nations, except the NEC, had sent diplomats to talks in Prena during New Year's Eve, which had explored the possibilities of intergovernmental cooperation, among other subjects.

The aims of the Meridis Coalition are to preserve peace, world rights, order, and justice in the Meridian region and possibly beyond. "What recent times have shown us is that Tvembov, or any of the other nations involved in the MC, can not stand alone." Voronin was quoted saying. "For the sake of order and freedom, the nations of the Meridis need to stick together, or face the consequences."

The move has been lauded in Tvembov, with a poll by the University of Western Tvembov Polling Institute (UWTPI) saying that a majority of citizens approved of the decision. However, it has yet to be determined whether the MC will have any functions beyond the military.

In light of the events in several different parts of Violetia, the Meridis Coalition stands as a new variable to take note of. Tvembov's role in it will be clear soon enough, but regardless, the announcement could potentially change the world order.

RUMORED ALLIANCE OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED
Today, President Thomas announced the membership of a rumored alliance, the Meridis Coalition

In a shocking turn of events, world leaders convened today to announce the formation of an unprecedented regional alliance that promises to reshape global politics as we know it. The new alliance, named the "Meridis Coalition" (MC), brings together countries from diverse regions, transcending traditional geopolitical boundaries and forging a path toward greater collaboration and prosperity. Previously, on New Year's Eve, Delegates from member nations visited Avalon. Presumably to talk about the coalition and types of cooperation.

The MC aims to foster peace, stability, and economic development through enhanced cooperation and shared resources, comprising 4 countries spanning across the Meridis region(Prena, Tvembov, Matamonia, and the NEC). By pooling their strengths, the member nations are poised to address pressing global challenges, including climate change, security issues, and regional security. To quote the charter "The Meridis Coalition is founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty, world rights, and the rule of law. We are committed to promoting these principles both within our own nations and in our international relations." (Charter of the MC)

While the formation of the Meridis Coalition undoubtedly marks a new chapter in global affairs, only time will reveal its true impact. Anticipation runs high regarding the transformative potential of this historic alliance and the profound changes it may bring to the geopolitical landscape.

In other news, NAAA will launch its first planned rocket soon. With "development running along better than expected' Says Joseph Marlock.

Matomania Makes Waves in Recent Foreign Events
Nation of Firnea Establishes Fruitful Partnership and Claims of Rebel Support Emerge

In a series of recent foreign events, the nation of Matomania has been at the forefront of attention due to its growing involvement on the international stage. The nation's diplomatic relations with Firnea have taken center stage, as well as allegations of clandestine support for the rebel group "Tannenreich."

In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties, the nation of Firnea recently engaged in a fruitful meeting with Matomania. The discussions primarily focused on fostering economic cooperation and exploring new avenues for trade. One prominent outcome of these talks is Firnea's decision to import a diverse range of tropical fruits from Matomania, a move that is expected to benefit both nations' economies.

With Matomania being renowned for its fertile lands and abundant agricultural resources, the decision to import tropical fruits from the nation is seen as a strategic choice by Firnea. By diversifying their imports, Firnea aims to cater to the increasing demands of its population while simultaneously supporting Matomania's agricultural sector. The partnership holds the promise of creating a mutually beneficial relationship, propelling economic growth for both countries.
However, amidst the buzz surrounding Matomania's burgeoning foreign relations, claims of the nation providing support to the rebel group known as "Tannenreich" have recently surfaced.

While concrete evidence is yet to emerge, reports suggest that Matomania has been implicated in supplying resources and aid to Tannenreich. Officials from Matomania have confirmed these claims, saying that the urge to help fight the chaos has become stronger. Although now with the international awareness of the region’s problems this action does not seem out of the ordinary.

Matomania has been active in foreign affairs recently, and only time will tell how much will be done.

It is general election day for the Crimson Senate, and your political guide is right here

TITANIA - The polling stations all over Lunapoli have closed, with the final votes being made around 10 PM (22:00) local time. With about 22 percent of all voters, more people than ever before have made use of postal voting, and with the faunus apartheid finally removed from Lunapolitan politics, voter turnout has been estimated to be at an all-time high, as over 90 percent of all eligible voters are expected to have checked the box of their choosing.

Despite the ongoing political unrest, nine parties have managed to qualify for the Crimson Senate election, with established parties running once more, and a selection of entirely new parties having made the race. However, who are they? It is about time to provide an overview - from left-wing to right-wing.

The Workers' Front (Fronte dei Lavoratori - FdL): A left-wing party focused on workers' rights, social justice, and income equality. They advocate for higher minimum wages, improved labor conditions, and social welfare programs. They aim to reduce income disparities and promote fair distribution of wealth.
Leader: Adriano Bianchi (51)

The Progressive Alliance (Alleanza Progressista - AP): A coalition of left-wing parties aiming to promote progressive policies, social welfare, and inclusive governance. They focus on issues such as gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and social integration. They support policies that promote diversity and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Leader: Vittoria Caruso (36)

The Justice Coalition (Coalizione Giustizia - CG): A party committed to social justice, human rights, and equality. They advocate for inclusive policies, fight against discrimination, and promote access to education and healthcare for all citizens, especially for the faunus population. They strive for a fair and just society.
Leader: Ettore Fiorelli (42)

The Green Movement (Movimento Verde - MV): An environmentalist party dedicated to the protection of nature and sustainable development. They prioritize renewable energy, conservation efforts, and environmental education. They support policies that combat climate change, promote eco-tourism, and preserve natural resources.
Leader: Rosalba Ferri (29)

The Liberty Party (Partito della Libertà - PdL): A libertarian party advocating for individual freedoms, limited government intervention, and free-market principles. They support lower taxes, deregulation, and personal autonomy. They prioritize individual liberty and believe in minimizing the role of the state.
Leader: Leopoldo Marino (54)

The Unity Party (Partito dell'Unità - PdU): A centrist party focused on promoting national unity and consensus. They prioritize economic stability, social cohesion, and moderate political reforms. They aim to bring together diverse factions within society and find common ground, especially between the faunus and the human population.
Leader: Chiara Marchetti aka Empress Chiara II (24)

The Farmers' Union (Unione dei Contadini - UdC): A party representing agricultural interests and rural communities. They advocate for sustainable farming practices, rural development, and agricultural subsidies. They prioritize the needs of farmers, protect local food production, and support rural infrastructure projects.
Leader: Amadeo Barbieri (59)

The Guardians of Tradition (Guardiani della Tradizione - GdT): A conservative party that values tradition, family, and cultural heritage. They emphasize the importance of preserving traditional Lunapolitan values and customs, and are considered unfriendly towards faunus. They advocate for strong national identity, strict immigration policies, and the protection of historical sites.
Leader: Camilla Moretti (55)

The Nationalist Alliance (Alleanza Nazionalista - AN): A right-wing nationalist party that prioritizes national sovereignty, cultural preservation, and border security. They advocate for a strong military, strict immigration policies, and economic protectionism. They emphasize the importance of preserving Lunapolitan traditions and values, and are considered a driving force behind the apartheid.
Leader: Selene Rinaldi (41)

First projections of the general election

With over 95 percent of all votes counted, it is expected that the Empress' very own party, the Partito dell'Unità, will be the most successful party of the general election, currently standing at 28.2% of all votes collected. Obviously, this is nowhere near an absolute makority; given the circumstances, however, it is more than most spectators had expected, and Empress Chiara II herself had stated to be "absolutely delighted" of the sight of having become the number one party.

Second on the ranking will be the Coalizione Giustizia, having gathered roughly 16.8% of all votes. Their success shows the large interest in social justice and equality displayed by many Lunapolitans, and they are considered the most likely coalition partner for the PdU at this moment.

Somewhat surprisingly, number three currently is the right-wing Alleanza Nazionalista, fueled by human hardliners seeking to preserve the status quo in Lunapoli. With 13.5% of all votes gathered, however, it is unlikely they will be part of the governing coalition, seeing as how both the PdU and the CG, as well as three other parties have already announced they will not form a coalition with the national populist party under any circumstances.

Another right party follows in fourth place, the conservative Guardiani della Tradizione, the most likely partner of the AN in case of a possible coalition, which, however, seems to be out of the window. With the faunus population finally having been made eligible to vote, their popularity has shrunk from far over 30% to barely more than a third of their former cut, now standing at 11.0%.

Following close behind in fifth position, we have the green party, otherwise known as Movimento Verde, having gathered 10.5% of all votes. While they had their hopes up for more, they have gone from being almost entirely irrelevant to the political landscape to having scored 32 seats in the Crimson Senate, which can be considered a great success either way.

The furthest left party of the spectrum, Fronte dei Lavoratori, also managed to increase their voter base, even though less so, with 7.7% of all votes having been given to them. While their goals are somewhat congruent with the PdU, they are currently considered a rather unlikely coalition partner as other parties may be fitting better.

Closing in to the bottom three, next on the list is the Alleanza Progressista with 5.2% of all checked ballot boxes counted for them. Their agenda is very specific and niche, which may have cost them a larger spectrum of voters; however, they are considered a possible kingmaker, as they might make up the remaining percentage points to form a coalition with an absolute majority.

Two more parties have barely crossed the 3% hurdle, one of them being the Unione dei Contadini. While also being very specific about their gender, they had amassed about 3.7% of all votes. They are not expected to play a relevant role in coalition building, however, not only due to their mediocre result, but also because of their rather conservative line of politics.

Finally, with a total of 3.4% of all votes, we have the Partito della Libertà in 9th place. It is hard to estimate as to why their agenda has not appealed to more voters; however, polls suggest that, to most Lunapolitans, this is a time of "establishing a new community" rather than prioritizing the individual, which is what the PdL is all about.

This is the model of the Red Senate, should the votes turn out as expected:

Image

Fronte dei Lavoratori (FdL): 23 seats
Alleanza Progressista (AP): 16 seats
Coalizione Giustizia (CG): 50 seats
Movimento Verde (MV): 32 seats
Partito della Libertà (PdL): 10 seats
Partito dell'Unità (PdU): 85 seats
Unione dei Contadini (UdC): 11 seats
Guardiani della Tradizione (GdT): 33 seats
Alleanza Nazionalista (AN): 40 seats

Who will be part of the coalition?

As there are 300 seats on the Crimson Senate, in order to score an absolute majority, it is necessary to hold at least 151 seats.

The Empress' party, Partito dell'Unità, and the Coalizione Giustizia are expected to enter exploratory negotiations before anyone else. Together, they make up 45 percent of all votes, which equals 135 seats in the Crimson Senate. As a result, a third possible coalition partner could be the Alleanza Progressista (16 seats -> 151 seats in total) or the green party, Movimento Verde (32 seats -> 167 seats in total).

However, with the right-wing parties coming relatively short, it is also rumored there might be a minority government coming into place. Considering the apartheid backstory that both right-wing parties (combined: 73 seats) have fueled for decades, the only parties having shown to be willing to work with them are the Unione dei Contadini, as well as the Partito della Libertà, summing up to a total of 95 seats for a possible right-wing coalition - not anywhere near enough to beat the PdL and CG centrist-left coalition.

We will keep you updated on all topics surrounding the "first true general election of Lunapoli", as Empress Chiara had labelled it in a press conference today.

Doyenne Donatella Vicari congratulates Lunapoli on "successful election"

Donatella Vicari, elected monarch of Amethynia, has congratulated Empress Chiara II and the Empire of Lunapoli on their first "true" general election.

"This ally of ours, the country of Lunapoli, is divided in beliefs and values. However, there is more to gain from honest difference than from shammed unity", the Doyenne stated in a press conference. "When looking at which parties were voted for the most, it is not difficult to see that most people in Lunapoli wish for social progress, equality, an Empire worth living in for everyone, not just humans. The diehard apartheid supporters are still there, but they are a dying breed, a generation subject to extinction, and in the coming years, Lunapoli will grow more stable and unified, thanks to the efforts of the Empress, a true woman of the people."

Great Nerus Pact increases security; military base to be erected near Siracusa

To further increase military security in the Great Nerus Ocean, Doyenne Donatella Vicari has agreed for a large-scale military base to be set up in a village named Salome, located the capital city of Amethynia, Siracusa. It will serve both the Amethynian national defense forces, as well as the joint operational military forces of the Great Nerus Pact. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2025; details regarding budget have not been released to the public. However, 20,000 soldiers are expected to stationed in Salome, which has mostly been received with acclaim by the population.

AUTHORITIES NEUTRALIZE TERRORISTS, BUT UNCERTAINTY LOOMS: FALLOUT FROM GAELIC PRESERVATION ALLIANCE'S ARMORY SEIZURE

A Tenuous Victory: Uncertainty Shadows the Defeat of the Gaelic Preservation Alliance

Following the brazen seizure of the Àird na Coille armory by the Gaelic Preservation Alliance, authorities have launched an extensive operation to neutralize the terrorists and restore order. While recent developments suggest progress in dealing with the crisis, an air of uncertainty looms over what the aftermath may bring. As the government continues its efforts to dissuade the Gaelic Preservation Alliance, questions about their broader objectives and potential future actions persist.

In an impressive display of coordination and resolve, security forces, bolstered by intelligence agencies and specialized units, executed a series of well-planned operations to neutralize the Gaelic Preservation Alliance. Multiple raids were conducted in various locations linked to the terrorist group, resulting in the apprehension of several high-ranking members in the area. The successful counter-terrorism operation dealt a significant blow to the organization and disrupted their activities. However, Chief of Clann Police Dòmhnall MhicThòmais says that "[...] We likely haven't seen everything from them. A group this [coordinated] doesn't just disappear like that. There is almost certainly more behind the curtain."

While the successful counter-terrorism operations have brought a sense of relief to the public, uncertainty prevails regarding the future actions of the Gaelic Preservation Alliance and the potential emergence of new extremist groups. Concerns linger about the underlying ideologies driving such movements and the effectiveness of counter-radicalization measures. The government faces the critical task of addressing these concerns while reinforcing societal resilience against extremist ideologies.

In light of the recent events, regional and international partners have expressed solidarity and offered support to the affected government. Intelligence sharing, capacity building, and joint operations have been initiated to combat transnational extremist networks and address the broader challenges posed by ideological extremism. Collaboration among nations will be essential in curbing the spread of extremist ideologies and ensuring long-term stability.

The successful neutralization of the Gaelic Preservation Alliance and the recovery of the Àird na Coille armory represent significant achievements for authorities in their fight against terrorism. However, the uncertainty surrounding the future landscape of extremism and potential reprisal actions weighs heavily on the collective consciousness. The government must maintain its vigilance, redouble efforts in intelligence gathering, and strengthen societal resilience to prevent the resurgence of similar threats. The nation stands united against extremism, determined to safeguard its people and uphold the values of peace and security.

BLANCOR TODAY: NEW FLAG ANNOUNDED

Postby Blancor » Sat May 27, 2023 4:21 am

NEW FLAG ANNOUNDED FOR BLANCOR:

In a historic moment for Blancor, our nation has overwhelmingly voted in favor of changing out national flag through a successful referendum. The results are in, and an astounding 87% of the voters have shown their support for the change, marking a remarkable expression of the people's will. The voter turnout was exceptionally high, with a record-breaking 92% of eligible citizens casting their vote.

The newly adopted flag of Blancor is a true reflection of the nation's values and aspirations. Designed by an anonymous artist, this flag was uploaded to an online forum and impressed the decision makers so much, that they almost instantly adopted it. The flag features the iconic outline of two capybaras representing unity, harmony, and the nation's unique character. The design is refreshingly modern and distinctive, capturing the spirit of a progressive and forward-thinking Blancor.
The decision to incorporate capybaras, Blancor's beloved national animal, into the flag has ignited a wave of joy and excitement among the population. Citizens across the nation have expressed their happiness and pride in this new symbol that embodies the spirit of their country. As the new national flag is raised across the country, Blancor embraces a renewed sense of unity and identity. The capybara-adorned flag will be proudly displayed in government buildings, schools, and public spaces, serving as a unifying symbol for all Blancorians.
The current flag looks like this:

ELECTORAL CHANGE FOR 2026:

After last weeks open debate about a needed change regarding the electoral system, Miklós Szabó announced today, that the system will undergo a change for the 2026 general elections. The decision came after widespread public and political questioning of the existing 27-seat parliament, which many believed did not adequately reflect the diversity of opinions and emerging parties within the nation.
Previously, each district had three candidates vying for a single seat, resulting in limited representation and a lack of diverse voices in the parliament. However, in a bid to address these concerns, the government has introduced a bold reform.
Previously, each district had three candidates who would represent them in the parliament, resulting in limited representation and a lack of diverse voices in the parliament. However, in a bid to address these concerns, the government has introduced a bold reform.
Under the new system, each district will now have nine candidates they can elect, making it a toal of 81 seats in the parliament. This increase in the number of candidates and seats aims to provide a more proportional representation of the people's voices, fostering a greater range of opinions and ideologies within the legislative body.
With the inclusion of more candidates, Blancor anticipates a higher degree of representation and a more diverse array of opinions in the parliament. This change aims to foster a richer political landscape, where various perspectives can be considered, ensuring a more robust and inclusive decision-making process.

Royal Court of Lunapoli announces "Titania Trials"

TITANIA - As her final act as sole executive force of the Empire, Empress Chiara II has prepared the Royal Court to hold the "Titania Trials", which are going to put hundreds of former senators on trial. Hundreds of right-wing aligned senators will have to answer for voting on laws that have been written to oppress, discriminate, and, in a lot of cases, outright enslave, or even eradicate the faunus population of Lunapoli.

It has been announced that senators found guilty of enacting laws that led to the unjustified death of Lunapolitan people during the apartheid might very well be sentenced to capital punishment for high treason towards the Lunapolitan people. Ironically, the former regime's efforts to establish a constitution securing the rights of all Lunapolitans - including faunus - even though merely in pretence, may end up bringing demise to the senators as they themselves had declared faunus to be people.

As it currently stands, 922 former senators will be brought into court to determine their responsibility in the following charges:

    - High treason towards the populace of Lunapoli, by way of
      - Racial and biological discrimination
      - Degrading state propaganda
      - Acts towards the constitution of Lunapoli
      - Slavery
      - Unlawful deportation
      - Mass extermination
    - Corruption
    - Bribery

The Titania Trials will be held starting March 31, 2024. Until that day, all suspects are held in custody, and monitored around the clock.

The Crimson Senate has got a new government

It is official: the Empire of Lunapoli has finally got their new government. The ruling coalition is made from the Partito dell'Unità ("Unity Party"), the Coalizione Giustizia ("Justice Coalition") and the Alleanza Progressista ("Progressive Alliance"). The votes they have received grant them a total of 151 seats - barely enough to gain the majority, but, as experts had predicted, the most likely alliance to happen, seeing as how they have the largest similiarities among each other.

"Finally, we are free to look forward and make this country what it always meant to be: a nation of freedom, progress, and unity", said Ettore Fiorelli, party leader of the Coalizione Giustizia. "In merely two years, the Empress has made incredible progress, and we are honored to join the coalition that her party will be leading, and leading Lunapoli into a new, better future."

Several right-wing politicians, such as Alleanza Nationalisa ("Nationalist Alliance" leader Selene Rinaldi, have called for a re-election, claiming that manipulation had occured in several cases, however, without being able to back up her claims. Empress Chiara had already announced there will be no re-elections until February of 2028, when the cycle is due next.

PEMBINAN DIGNITARIES MEET WEST CARNOLIAN COUNTERPARTS FOR TALKS

Talks considered "positive and constructive" in furthering co-operation

Pembinan foreign diplomats have met in Poel with the West Carnolian government in order to bring greater co-operation between the Carnolian government and Neptune City . Alexander Benn, whilst not attending the meeting , said this after a brief conference from the Blue Palace:

Alexander Benn
"I believe that amazing progress has been made here, truly amazing. The West Carnolians are a people who know no bounds when it comes to hospitality and friendship. For them to have worked and co-operated with Violetia's flagship socialist state for many years is truly a blessing for the Federation and I hope that West Carnolia continues to prosper. However , we must also recognise that the time for reconciliation is also here for the East and the West, and to recognise that a settlement should be reached to form a united Carnolian republic , that can truly flourish in the modern era ."

The talks themselves covered a vast arrary of topics, including Pembinan exporting military weaponry to the government of Poel, universtiy exchange deals and other diplomatic arrangements. West Carnolia, however, remains too stubborn to further nationalise and socialise portions of her economy, which can only expect to drive a wedge in further discussions . It is expected that Omucon will continue to work closely together during the coming months, especially given the recent events in South Randalore.

BREAKING: Queen Saga and Princess Skadi reported missing from Emerald Palace

"Royals gone without a trace", speaker says

by: Ragnhild Jørgensen

Unrest has spread in Eldur, as the official government speaker of the capital city's Emerald Palace has confirmed that both Queen Saga I, as well as her yonger sister, Princess Skadi II, have gone missing, and have disappeared without a trace.

"Both the Queen, and the Princess were last seen on Friday", speaker Birger Skoglund said, referring to March 29, 2024 (yesterday). "A covert ops has been dispatched to find the royal family, however, to no avail. At first, it had been decided to not make this public immediately, as it had been expected they would be found shortly. This, unfortunately, is not the case 24 hours later; therefore, it was decided the case be publicized in order to have the good people of Firnea help us find them."

"Queen Saga and Princess Skadi were last seen in the courtyard garden, yesterday morning. Ever since, they seem to have disappeared without a trace. No bags are missing from the inventory, all the cars are parked in the garage. The courtyard cameras have not recorded either of the two leaving the palace grounds."

While Queen Saga and Princess Skadi of the near-ancient Beauregard clan do not hold executive powers, they are held dearly by the Firnean population, and enjoy immense popularity. Tens of thousands of citizens have already taken to the streets in order to find the Queen and her younger sister.

If you have seen a trace of the royal family, please call the Firnean police: +42 (0) 90 90.

Parliament passes elections bill, adding two new constituencies
08/04/2024

By Sumire Uchida • @SumireUchidaCBS

CHUKYO — Parliament has passed a bill that would add an additional two constituencies for the upcoming 2024 General Election, raising the number of seats in Parliament from 485 to 487. In addition, the bill approves many of the other changes recommended by the 2024 Electoral Boundaries Commission, including the adjustment of several constituency boundaries to meet their mandated population quota of approximately 125,000 persons per constituency with a margin of plus or minus five percent. Boundaries were drawn according to the results of the 2020 Census.

The two new constituencies will be located in Niihama and Mizuho, two of the fastest growing provinces in the nation. Each province will receive an additional constituency, bringing Niihama's total to 129 seats, and Mizuho's total to 51 seats. The new constituencies, known as Niihama-16th and Mizuho-11th after sequential renumbering, are located in Shirakawa City and the Mizuho Metropolitan Area respectively.

Niihama-16th
• eastern portions of Shirakawa City, Kuzumaki village, and northern portions of Nambu town.

Mizuho-11th
• Mizuho Metropolitan Area, north of Hirakawa creek, centred on Hirakawa Town, and south of the N-31 expressway.

Opinion Polls

According to the latest opinion polls published by CBS and MBS, the Democratic Alliance and its member parties are up nearly 15 points on average. Within the political bloc, the Social Democratic Party has seen the largest gains with nearly 4 points on average above its senior coalition partner, the Civic Democratic Party. The third party in the bloc, the Progressive Party has seen no change in their polling numbers.

On average, the opposition Conservative Group political bloc has seen a drop in their polling numbers. The senior party within the bloc, the Nationalist Party has seen a drop of 2 points on average, while the Justice Party and the Commonwealth Party has seen gains of 1 to 2 points on average.

Among the non-aligned parties, Peace and Prosperity has seen the largest gains of nearly 4 points on average. While the Green Party, and the Localist League has seen drops of 1 point on average. Polling numbers for the Citizens Alliance has seen no significant change.

CBS parliamentary reporter and political analyst Takeo Iwami has attributed the positive polling numbers for the Democratic Alliance bloc, especially the Social Democratic Party, to their widely popular policies during their tenure in Parliament. In contrast, Iwami contributes the overall dropping numbers of the Conservative Group bloc to their incoherent and lacklustre policy proposals during the previous four years. However, he cautions that it may be too early to judge the fortunes of the bloc, as "the new Nationalist Party leader Hiroshi Fujisaki brings a wealth of experience from his successful tenure in the Myodo provincial assembly, where he remains very popular to this day. If he is able to truly unite his party and political bloc behind him, the CDP and their allies will have a true challenge in the general elections". In regards to the rising polling numbers of Peace and Prosperity, Iwami has stated that this may be due to the two major political blocs making moves to attach Chiho to one of the international military alliances. He cautions that the two political blocs should tread carefully on this issue, as "a significant portion of the Chihoese public opposes such moves, and believe that there are little to no benefits for the nation".

The General Election is scheduled for 7 October 2024.

BREAKING: Chancellor Havard Gyldenløve found dead, presumably assassinated

Are there any links to the disappearance of Queen Saga?

by: Ragnhild Jørgensen

These are dark times for the Emerald Kingdom. Following the disappearance of Queen Saga and her younger sister, Princess Skadi, who have not been seen in Kealani for weeks, Firnea is struck with the loss of another political figurehead, as the nation's chancellor, Havard Gyldenløve, has been found dead in front of his private residence in Eldur.

The national police has not allowed for any details on Gyldenløve's death to be released. However, local residents have stated that the chancellor's body was found with a single stab wound. Over years, the chancellor had refused to hire state-funded security for his private residence, as he was entitled to.

"Investigations have launched already", a government speaker stated. "For the time being, the country will be run by our vice chancellor, Makani Faraya." This statement has been confirmed to be standard procedure according the constitution. However, there must be a new general election within the next twelve months, following the chancellor's burial.

Experts have discussed the chance of a link existing between the chancellor's assassination, and the disappearance of the royal family. "It is extremely unlikely that a nation as safe in Firnea will face two situations of such magnitude with only a mere few weeks apart", says Dr. Kristof Nordland, professor for political sciences at Eldur University. "I, as well as many of my peers, believe we are dealing with an act of terror, whether it be conducted by an organization in-country or outside of it."

The latest updates on the royal family are built around a pedestrian-made phone video taken in the streets of Uhana, the capital city of Kealani. Two younger women with long white hair can indeed be spotted in the middle of a crowd around the marketplace. Their faces are not shown, though, and it is unclear if these women are indeed Queen Saga and Princess Skadi. The Firnean police has already confirmed there will be investigations in the matter.

Armed Knightmare Corp Units in Ile-de-Cambre
Security Concerns Over Imperial Royal Family after Firnean Disappearances

ONLINE VIEWING

Over the course of the afternoon, Syrasian Knightmare Corps units have been spotted moving through the streets of Ile-de-Ambre towards the Ambre Imperial Palace, following the disturbing news of the death of the Firnean Chancellor and the disappearance of Her Majesty Queen Saga and Her Highness Skadi from Emerald Palace.

The rapid and surprise failure of Firnean law enforcement officials to protect their Royal Family has brought into question whether the Ile-de-Ambre Imperial Constabulary is capable of properly protecting the Syrasian Imperial Family, perhaps the most renowned Royal Family across Violetia, and as a result, Minister for Defence Edward Moss has organised the movement of the Syrasian Knightmare Corps troops, including several armoured vehicles. There has also been a ban on foreign tourists from visiting the local ward in which the Imperial Palace of Ambre is situated.

It has not been confirmed for how long Knightmare troops will be stationed in Ile-de-Ambre, however it has been noted that it is expected to be a temporary arrangement. Tourists and citizens are advised to remain calm and to not be discomforted by the presence of the Syrasian military in the capital.

ALL HAIL THE EMPEROR
HIS MAJESTY’S VIST TO THE NORTH

Written by Rt Hon Arthur Naseby, Royal Correspondent

It has been a week now since the week long state visit by His Royal Highness, Emperor Maximilian IX d’Syrasia after the suprising arrival of his Majesty in the first state visit by the Syrasian crown in over a decade, seemingly indicating his Majesty seeks to ensure the North sticks by it's long held loyalty in a new age of confusion and republicanism, and if the vast crowds that swarmed the Caerli Imperial Airport are anything to go by, the Syrasian crown still holds the popularity and splendor in the North has it has for the last century of loyalty, with many crowd members bearing various placards of support for his Majesty and other such declarations, with only a small crowd from the anti-dominionist group, New Patriot, being held away by police.

His Majesty was then escorted by members of the Imperial Prydan Mounted Police and various detachments of soldiers from the airport to the official residence of the 1st Secretary of State; Sir Rhys ap Thomas at Number 9, Halford Street. He stayed there for sometime and was reported to have had 'a most pleasant conversation' with Sir Rhys before once again being escorted by the IPMP to his official residence in Timberfax Palace. The Governor-General was apparently meant to recive his Majesty at the Palace but was taken in and in hospital for the week, he is currently recovering and in 'good health' according to his family.

His Majesty spent the next couple of days visiting various landmarks across the country, and opened a statue ahead of next week’s Imperial Remembrance Day, a day that celebrates the men and women of the Syrasian Empire who died in both founding and defence of New Prydai. The statue, by artist Reme d’Leorne, depicts two soldiers dressed in Prydan and Syrasian uniforms respectively, planting a flag onto a rocky surface.

His Majesty flew home the following day.
