Serendipity (TWI ONLY - SEMI-OPEN - IC)

Postby Laeden » Mon Sep 05, 2022 3:02 am

Quick OOC Summary

This is supposed to be a quick RP held in Cartaganca, the capital of Rodaves, where a group of diplomatic staff members meet, by chance, in a seaside walk. This is initially a single event, although the RP can be further expanded if it proves successful. Rodaves and Solaryia will be the primary participants, along me, but others might join after approval, so if you feel like participating, please, send a TG to me first. Unlike other regional RPs, this isn't supposed to be a masterpiece of modern literature with novel-long posts. It's a simple RP meant to reflect on current day events and to analyze the modern TWI world by the lenses of ordinary people. Be creative and hop in.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Alice has always preferred warm, sunny days, despite being born and raised in the Adreau Mountains, one of the coldest regions of Laeden. Taking advantage of one of the rare moments off from her demanding job as secretary to a Laedenian diplomatic representative at MSDL, the young woman decided to take her dogs, Thor and Zeus, for a pleasant walk in her favorite part of town: the seaside park in Camarasa. . For a girl raised in the mountains, the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea air were something new and one she couldn't get used to, despite having lived in the capital of Rodaves for almost nine months. With her dogs on a leash and with headphones stuck in her ears, Alice began her walk, alternating between Pop songs and Rodavese video lessons, as the young woman needed to improve her pronunciation and reduce the atrocious accent that denounced her as Laedeniana. Alice was wise to choose to take her tour in the late afternoon. The sun was already starting to set, and the heat wasn't uncomfortable enough to make her sweat profusely, as it did when she was forced to walk her dogs during midday. More importantly, the mild temperature has allowed her to buy an ice cream cone, which she can nonchalantly consume without having to rush in fear of it melting in her hands.

With the ice cream in hand and with her dogs distracted playing with each other, Alice decided to take a break from her walk, sitting on a stone bench near a tree that offered her shade, and started to admire the sea, distracting up with the beauty and getting lost in her thoughts. Because she was daydreaming, and with the loud music playing, Alice took a while to realize that someone had approached her and was talking to her. The young woman quickly removed her headphones and turned to greet the stranger.

“Oh, hi,” she said, with a smile. “I hadn't seen you. I'm sorry,” she added, with a half-shy smile.

WIth the MSDL calling a special session following the Jerigan nuclear disaster, Max wasn't immediately keen on returning to work earlier than expected. While the session was not far away from commencing, she wanted to take advantage of the time she had. Living in the apartments of Barri Antic district, Max would often walk south from her middling apartment complex across the busy Ruta Costanera highway to the Camarasa Maritime Walk. A street overlooking the wide Camarasa beach, slowly disintegrating into the Gulf of Navence. It was refreshing to look at, from the crowded roads and cramped buildings of the inner district, Camarasa beach remained empty of all except the Rodavese people.

After crossing the walkway bridge across the Ruta Costanera, Max could look to her left and right to see sparse restaurants, tall trees, and sculptures interrupting the wide concrete path. While the scenery stuns tourists, all too often to see in Cartaganca, Max had seen the views and beauty since infancy. For Max, strolling the paths of Camarasa was nothing special, often nothing more than background scenery for her own world when she jogged and listened to music, or walked a mile focused on acquiring an alipènd coffee at La Botiga Cafe.

Max normally felt awkward walking Cartaganca without a purpose, but that's just what she unknowingly accomplished for nearly a mile. The sun was already beginning to set on the day and the people attending Camarasa beach slowly fizzled out. Instead of continuing to the next walkway bridge, Max opted to make a 360 and trot home. As Max put her hands in her pockets, admiring the lush summer trees as she walked, she noticed a familiar face she could've sworn she'd seen at the MSDL headquarters in the Riba d'Useu district during the last session. The woman sat peacefully with a set of headphones and a pair of dogs.

Max decided to stop for a second and approach the young woman.

"Hey, I think I recognize you. Do you by chance work in the MSDL HQ?" Max said with an awkward smile.

Name: Sylva Jandura
Age: 26
Occupation: Secretary to the Solaryi Representative in the MSDL.
Education: Graduated from Nyí Visegrad University with a bachelors degree in Political Science, International Politics
Favorite ice cream flavour:[/b] Strawberry

“Urghhhhhh, this was a mistake.” Sylva muttered to himself, rubbing his eyes before pushing his long, very matted ash blonde hair out of his face. The representative had finally concluded that he hated the Rodaves with a burning passion. Or more specifically, he hated the sun that shown down on them, which was far too strong for what he was used to back north. He’d thought that after being down here for a month, his skin would get at least somewhat used to the constant sun (despite the fact that most of that time spent was inside the MSDL headquarters helping his boss). However even after using what seemed like half a tube of sunblock, after only one day trying to surf at the beach, his pale skin decided to roleplay the colour of a tomato and get horribly sunburnt. At least he didn’t have work tomorrow, so he could just lay inside all day in a tub of aloe vera gel or something.

After a few minutes of sitting in his beach chair and simply enduring the suffering he’d brought upon himself, Sylva decided to get up and see if he could find anywhere to get a drink. Although it was a litter far from him, there were a few shops further down the beach nearer to the center of town, and there was sure to be an ice cream shop where he could get a milkshake or something. Given that the sun was setting, he decided to take the walk and make his way over, putting on a loose, sand covered t-shirt in order to cover the worst of his sunburns. Perhaps he’d even get dinner as well if there was any place that caught his eye.

As Sylva strolled along the tree lined paths of the Casamara Walk he looked over all the shops, gradually starting to notice the increasing number of people as well. Hopefully it didn’t get too busy, he didn’t want to have to navigate a crowd just to get some ice cream.

Name: Sergio Hernandez
Age: 24
Occupation: Secretary to the Lankan Representative in the MSDL.
Education: High-College Level

Sergio had Enjoyed his day, well…actually no, he didn’t, his wife had insisted that instead of actually enjoying the First Day of their new life in Rodaves, they should go to every single store in the city, Sergio knew they had went to atleast 10 different stores in the past 12 hours, and he was beat, while his wife had brought all the grocery’s home to unpack, he had decided to take a nice walk on the Sea Board.

“Hmm, now this is what I came for.” he thought to himself, breathing in the Fresh Seaside air, even though he lived entirely next to the coast back home, he never got to enjoy it, as it was always covered head to toe in uncountable amounts of Tourists.

As he walked he felt his stomach starting to growl. “Maybe I should get something to eat” he thought, after all he had been so busy shopping that he didn’t get a break to eat some lunch, and his breakfast had been rather small for his standards.

He decided to find a Ice Cream place to eat, as he felt himself start to sweat, he new his wife had bought a pizza when she returned home, so he decided just a Snack would do him Good, he then set off to find a place to find some good Ice Cream.

On his way there, he thought about life back home, he was very much happy for his Twin Brother, also named Sergio, who was recently elected The Chief of Foreign Relations for East Lankia, His brother had been so busy lately, and he hadn’t talked to him in the 2 weeks since he was elected, as he blanked out in his mind, he suddenly realized he had found a Ice Cream place next to him.

He ordered Double Chocolate with chocolate syrup and chocolate chips on top (I should’ve mentioned, Sergio Really likes Chocolate), he stepped away from the place and ate his Ice Cream, he didn’t need to be home for another 3 hours, what would he do till then he thought to himself, he was thinking of going to swim by the beach, but his swimsuit was back at his Apartment, he decided to continue walking along the Beachside for now till he saw something that caught his eye.

Like any good hillbilly in Laeden, Alice was brought up in a large house, with many brothers, cousins, uncles, and distant relatives visiting constantly. Since childhood, the young woman needed to develop a good visual memory, and in adulthood, this skill acquired after years of living with her large family made her able to recognize a face quite easily.

"Yea! You also work at MSDL, don't you?” she asked Max, with a big smile. "We already talked once in the canteen of the building, in line for lunch," Alice added, feeling a little proud of herself and her memory. "How is it going? Sit down! Let's talk,” she said politely, offering her coworker some space.

Alice turned off her music, pocketing her cell phone and looking closely at Maxima. “The situation in Jeriga continues to get worse, eh?” she said, while enjoying her ice cream. The last time the two met and talked, the main topic was the nuclear accident at Alcilla. And it couldn't be otherwise, as catastrophe was the most talked about topic in the entire MSDL building. “A colleague of mine who lives in Laeden said that fishermen are finding hundreds of dead fish close to shore. It's very sad,” she said, visibly hurt by the situation. As she opened her mouth to make another comment, however, she noticed another familiar face. A man, who did not seem to be able to stand the heat of Cartaganca, was walking around with an ice cream in his hand and wearing an excessively baggy shirt, which gave him a somewhat comical appearance. “That boy also works there at MSDL, right?” Alice asked Max, moments before Sylva looked at the two. The young Laedenian smiled, waving, and watched as the boy approached.

Max was impressed by Alice's memory. Max could recognize a face but past that she couldn't remember a word of the last meeting, let alone a cafeteria small talk with a coworker. However Max's main thoughts were focused on the outstanding coincidence of the two meeting outside the MSDL, let alone in the district where the headquarters are located.

As Alice turned to her personal connection to the devastation in Jeriga and Laeden, Max could only shake her head at the disappointment she felt. The results of the disaster have been unheard of in the 21st century.

"It's insane how much negligence happens in the modern day when we know so much about what can happen," Max said.

Max slumped down at the side on the tree and crossed her legs in preparation to hear more from her before Alice pointed out a pale man sweating in the Cartaganca sun. "Well he's definitely a Raelosi by the looks of it. But it's not uncommon to see that here on Camarasa", Max said.
