Sur Irlandian Presidential Election (IC)

Postby Sur Irlandia » Tue Jul 05, 2022 10:31 am

The Republic of Sur Irlandia is holding it's Sixth Presidential Election since it's hard-fought independence. With two new parties pushing forward their candidates, the possibilities are becoming endless. From the Irlandian Libertarian Party to The Irlandian Worker's Party, we can expect more representation in Oireachtas and Comhairle na gCeann when those elections take place later in the year. Without further ado, we present the Presidential Candiates

Cormac Farnen

Cormac is a Member of the IRP, the Irlandian Republican Party. The incumbent President, he still enjoys good polls at 56%. He was an apprentice of the former president Quin Hanafin. He, along with most of the party, are for a unified Irlandia. He's a devout Catholic and follows most of their teachings into politics. He's pro-life (Having supported a 8 week ban and pushing for even stricter restrictions), he wants to regulate big corporations from holding too much power in the new republic, and supports a no tax on religous insitutions. He's lenient on LGBTQ issues, though it's unlikely he would expand to same sex marriage. He is a big supporter of oil and coal, allowing multiple leases for oil, natural gas and coal companies on lands. He does support a small welfare system, primarily to help teenage mothers and other pregnant women from the more poorer side.

Neil Kirvan

Neil Kirvan is the leader of the Opposition, the Progressive Irlandian Committee. He mainly get support from the Province of Avonversia. He used to be a viral critic of Sexland when they occupied Irlandia. He was part of the negotiation phase in 2011 that helped free Irlandia. He support a more lenient abortion stance at 12 weeks. He is a big corporate regulator and also supports the no tax on religious institutions. He is a vocal opponent to the fossil fuel expansion and supports using wind turbines and biofuels. He is also a supporter of a large welfare network. He does support Same sex Marraige for the government. He is also a supporter of a possible reunification of IRlandia but believes that it will be almost impossible and thus puts it on the bottom of his wishes

Osred Connolly
Image

Osred is the leader of Saor Ier, or Free Irlandia Movement which seeks to unite all Irlandia, using all methods. The party has been accused by Nor Irlandia of connections to terrorism, but there is no real concrete evidence and it's possible that it's trying to use that method to smear the party. OR not. Who knows? After all he was part of the military of the Irlandian Republican Army before independence. Osred is a pro-lifer who supports a total ban on abortion. He is a strong regulator of corporations considering them too much of a national security risk to gain too much power. He supports an increase in the military and supports the idea of forming an anti-imperial alliance someday. He supports a no tax on religious institutions. He is a strong opponent to LGBTQ marriage and integration into the mainstream. He is a significant supporter of fossil fuels to help keep low energy prices and he supports deregulating some property restrictions to help get cheaper housing.

Madigan MacBride
Image

Madigan is the leader of the Irlandian Workers Party, a movement that calls itself socialist. Madigan was outwardly against Sexland although there have been accusations that he actually supported the occupation of Irlandia. She is one of the few Englicans in Sur Irlandia. She supports having two separate Irlandias as called their cultural difference "too big a gap to be breached." He supports abortions up to 16 weeks. He supports heavy regulations of corporations, taxing them more and sponsoring unions. She supports defunding much of the military, calling it a drain. She supports ditching fossil fuels for green energy. She supports light tax on religious institution and for a large welfare network. She is a strong ally to LGBTQ and supports same sex marriage.

Garon Dunn
Image

Garon is the leader of Irlandian Libertarian Party. He was never much a political figure until Irlandia mostly because he felt his business was safe in Sexland hand. However with all the other parties supporting heavy regulation, he stepped up to fight back. He is known to be more of a globalist. He support abortion unregulated. He supports little regulation and lowering taxes on corporations and sizing down the military. He is a flimsy of the energy issue, claiming to support green energy, but many doubting so. He support no tax on religious insitutions and for a miniscule welfare department. He also supports Same Sex Marriage

Finally, the day of debate has arrived with all five candidates ready to answer the questions of not only the citizens of Nor Irlandia, but also of foreigners who might have an interest in Nor Irlandia
