The Thermodolian Government condemns the needlessly aggressive actions of Salvaroja, trade must be allowed to flow unhindered. This aggressive action is what we warned against doing as it will only inflame matters as things have shown.

We implore the government of Salvaroja to back down from its current course as it is a course that will lead to war and is in violation of international law. Thermodolia, like Nifon, is born out of the sea and relies on the sea for trade. Trade and the free passage thereof is paramount to the Thermodolian state, to that end Thermodolia dutifully follows the relevant international law regarding this matter known as the law of the sea. This law states that civilian flagged vessels shall be allowed safe passage through territorial waters unless there exists a state of war between the two nations.

Salvaroja stopping all ships that are flagged by, crewed by, or registered in nations they do not like is in violation of the law of the sea and puts them in direct conflict with international law. Therefore in order to remain compliant with international law and allow trade to flow we ask Salvaroja to stand down and let peace prevail.

By digging in you will not make life better for those people you supposedly care about but will in fact make lives worse. Only through free trade and the building of wealth can we change minds not acts of aggression or violence. Furthermore attacking innocent ships will be seen as a blockade as therefore an act of war which will needlessly escalate this formally simple statement of a person stating who they are.

This was not needed to spiral out of control, it’s unfortunate that it has. However Thermodolia does state that even though many of us do not agree with the President of Nacrad and their decision we must at the very least tolerate it as Nacrad is not Thermodolia and we Thermodolians have no business enforcing our will, culture, and beliefs against them just as they should not do the same against us.

However as words in international affairs are useless without force I will now state that any Thermodolian flagged, registered, or crewed vessel that is seized by Salvaroja will be seen as an act of war against Thermodolia and Thermodolia will not back down from a fight it intendeds to win. Small nations like Salvaroja must understand that if they can not afford to back up their demands they should not make them, especially in the presence of superpowers. A nation of 15 million is no match for the might of Thermodolia (who’s own population is in the billions) and her allies. To that end the Thermodolian government will be dispatching a carrier group to Salvaroja to make sure that they do not violate international law.

Again we Thermodolians believe this can be resolved peacefully, we thank the Empire of Greater Nifon for their support of our request to hold mediation. If mediation is to be agreed than Thermodolia will host the meeting of representatives of the governments involved and act as a peaceful and neutral referee as we only want trade to flow freely as it benefits all.

Again this statement should not be an escalation but a simple statement, one that only effects the nation of Nacrad, their president, and the nations that care about the president dearly. We consider the North German Confederacy to be a reckless and rogue state based on the disproportionate response given by the North German government. As such, "Kaiser" Fredrich Wilheim V von Hohenzollern shall only be recognised with his title in quotes, and we formally recognise lands controlled and/or claimed by the North German Confederacy to be under the control by Denmark, West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany) and East Germany (German Democratic Republic) as-is in our world. The Government of the North German Confederacy will be placed in the List of Extremist and Terrorist Organisations.

As an extremist and terrorist organisations, the North German Confederacy will be subject to Annex IV limitations as outlined by the Strategic Technology Act on items as listed below:

• Automobiles

• Non-perishable foodstuffs

Care to explain? How is it that me, being the happy trans woman I am, "foreign propaganda"? How am I in any way but genetically and genitally distinct from a woman? I would like to begin by saying that this has quickly become an untenable state of affairs, mostly because of the bigotry on display by much larger nations.

While Salvaroja may, indeed, be overreaching by threatening forfeiture, I would like to address how far more powerful nations have decided to react. In response to this tiny nation practically sanctioning themselves, they have decided to openly threaten sweeping invasions in which their territory is confiscated.

Need I remind Nifon, an economic powerhouse, and Thermodolia, a nation of billions of people, how much war costs in human life? How much injustice and horror comes as an inevitable result of it? Salvaroja is a very small nation indeed, with international waters that should be very easy to clear as they stretch out only 10 nautical miles. The fact that both of these nations have threatened war gives me little hope that they understand what it means.

While I would caution Salvaroja against potentially seizing the assets of much larger powers, I am far more horrified by the hawkish responses of those greater powers.

As Enlil Re’Um, a close ally of mine once said, war is a racket. And you are all paying into it.

Now it terms of Thermodolian laws and culture being trans is not seen as good in any way. The vast majority of our people (78% last poll) are against trans people and by extension trans rights. In Thermodolia it is against the law to promote trans rights and therefore allowing you into our nation would be seen as an acknowledgment of trans rights which would lead to my own impeachment and your arrest.

That is why I can not allow you into our nation as it would be seen as my government acknowledging trans rights, something I can not do. I am unfortunately sorry at these circumstances but it’s a culture I just can not change.

The act which currently bans you was enacted to protect Thermodolians from any propaganda we thought might harm our nation, this doesn’t just include trans rights but also things such as religious extremism, street preaching (something I might add we’ve had trouble with in the past), foreign agents spread anti Thermodolian thought, communism, and other such things.

However that being said I might be able to modify the ban to official functions only. Meaning that you would be allowed to enter Thermodolia but only for official functions such as meetings with the president and the like. But outside of that you would still be barred from entering Thermodolia proper.

Or we could just meet in neutral territory, or if you agree to not talk about trans rights or trans people while in Thermodolia I can lift the ban entirely on that promise. However the minute you break this agreement is the minute you will not be allowed in our nation.

But in Cantonese, they wagered that nobody would know, not until the President actually went to the podium, who, meanwhile, is perfecting the makeup to be worn on stage.

Finally, a few minutes later, the President opens the doors and walked in. But then the crowd erupted into chaos, since what they saw was not the 38-year-old "Mr. President" that they wanted to see, but rather a younger-seeming lady. However, on her chest bore the same set of medals as the president the expected - a Medal of Bravery (Bronze), and a Silver Bauhinia Star. With the crowd of reporters exploding into chatter as that's not the same person as they expected. Sure, the height and physique looked roughly the same, and so are her badges - but they were expecting a man, not a woman. She was clad in an elegant black dress, and a nice white blazer - not the kind of clothes a man would wear, at any rate to an official venue like so.

Ignoring the chattering, she walked up to the lectern, and retrieved a heavy wooden paperweight. However, that once again surprised the journalists, and no doubt people watching on the internet.

The paperweight faced the reporters, but the name engraved read something unexpected. It read

I offer my most sincere apologies if I caused too much confusion. The reason I invited you here is to inform you of my identity. In other words, I am holding this press conference to come out. To come out, I believe, for someone vested as much power as I am, is not just a personal affair - to come out is to empower those who are like me, who are transgender, who are queer, who have questioned their identity. Today, by coming out, I believe that I can empower them - let them know that their struggles are real, let them know that their ability is not any bit diminished, let them know... they're not "abnormal" or "ill" or anything people tell them.

I would like to come out today as a transgender woman. As a transgender woman, then, I would prefer to be named "Hannah", and referred to as "Madam President". Of course, if you're used to avoiding gendered words when talking about me - go ahead. But please, this is my request, please respect my identity. Some of the journalist friends in this venue here are not exactly friendly to my identity - whom I sympathise and hope to educate - but regardless of your views, identities are not to be politicised. That one is not born a woman, but becomes a woman - and the same for men, or non-binary people, or any identities for that matter.

I remember vividly, that I have struggled with my identity since a young age. I remember wanting to wear dresses, wanting to grow my hair out, wanting to become a girl. It was not an easy way to be on - not when you were bullied, called slurs, and even excluded from entire friend groups - far from it. When some conservatives talk about identity politics nowadays, they talk about how 'being transgender is a choice', or 'being gay is a choice' - you get the point. But for me, who actually experienced life as a transgender person, I would definitely not have chosen being who I am if I were ever given the choice. Your identity, and your attraction, are every bit as innate as your sex - but every bit separate from each other.

But for as long as I remember, I have repressed my gender identity. I remember the last time I wore anything remotely feminine to school - it was in grade 1. I remember being bullied again. This time, it was not just mean words and pranks, those I were desensitised. This time, it was physical. I remember being beaten, then sent to the first aid station, only for the nurse to tell me to stop. Being just a naive 6-year-old, I obliged, picking out only the most masculine of clothes and banishing my true self to god-knows-where. My parents, too, did not support me - they called me a pervert, a deviant, a gender-bender, that I didn't even manage to discover my gender until I went to university.

In university, thankfully, I found a group of friends, friends who were queer, and friends who were allies. We started the QSA, the first of its kind in Nacrad. It was, in many ways, a passion project of us - to find a safe place amongst ourselves, and to offer one to our fellow classmates. This belief holds true today, 20 years later - This time, the safe space is not only a small room in the edge of the Student Union building. This time, the safe space is the entire nation. This time, the safe space is our homes, our campuses, our workplaces.

It was only 5 years ago that I finally stopped repressing myself - that I accepted myself first. But I was too scared to come out then - I had just been elected, and I didn't know what was the best political decision, or if my cabinet would even accept me. But regardless, I went to seek help and received it, a priviliege that not all of us have. But what I'm trying to say, here, is that there is no 'too late' to accept yourself. The only thing that matters is that you're willing to accept yourself first. And only then can you seek help.

And for everywhere to be a safe space so that everyone who needs it can seek help, I wager that its founder must also feel safe. And thanks to all of you who agree with me and agree, frankly, to etiquette, for making this wish come true.

But at the end of the day, Nacrad would never be the perfect safe space - I never claimed it to be one. The best we can do, is to make it a little better. And that, starts with respecting people's identities. Thank you so much for coming, and sorry for keeping you waiting.
