World, stop voting now!

Semi Finals 1 & 2 for the Landa vy Polkopiya have both concluded, meaning that it's time to reveal who will be qualifying to the Grand Final for a chance to win Polkopia's largest annual music award show. The winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya will have the opportunity to represent Polkopia at the Worldvision Song Contest - the largest music competition in the multiverse! This edition, the Landa vy Polkopiya drew interest from ten different nations, with each of them sending a team of music experts to vote on who was to qualify for the Grand Final. The two qualifying acts from each semi-final are decided in this matter, whereas the Wildcard spot is awarded to a non-qualifying entry that the Polkopian jury feels as if though it deserves a place in the Grand Final. With the four qualifiers and one Wildcard spot, there are to be five acts competing in the Grand Final, each of them vying for the top spot in the competition.

Semi Final 1 Votes:

The following scoreboard shows the results for Semi Final 1. Juries from Besen, Elejamie, Kalosia, and Scotatrova have all voted in this semi-final.

Semi Final 2 Votes:

The following scoreboard shows the results for Semi Final 2. Juries from the Ertzei Kishim, Llalta, and Strayaroos have all voted in this semi-final.

Out of those who did not qualify for the Grand Final after the international jury votes, the Polkopian jury has decided to award Stas Lisa the Wildcard slot. He will join the other four contestants in the Grand Final.

Congratulations to all 5 of the qualifiers for this edition's Grand Final, set to be held 24 hours from now. Once the Grand Final has concluded, we will have a clear and distinct winner as to who will be representing Polkopia at the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. As always, the PNB thanks the participating nations' broadcasters for expressing interest in the Polkopian music scene, and your contribution is well-regarded. The lineup for the Grand Final has been revealed and you can listen to all of the qualifiers' songs below:

The recent edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya saw five acts competing in the Grand Final of Polkopia's most popular domestic musical competition. This Grand Final saw the likes of Worldvision veterans Anton Virnov, Martin Tyvin, and Dina Dovna compete against Stas Lisa and Viktoriya Akšan, regular participants at the Landa Vy Polkopiya. It was a contest many in Polkopia looked forward to watching and it seemed as if though everyone had an equal shot at winning. In the end, it was Viktoriya Akšan who would claim victory after winning both the international jury vote and the domestic televote, and her song, What You Want would be Polkopia's official entry to the 100th edition of the Worldvison Song Contest.

You can find more details about Polkopia's entry to the 100th Worldvision Song Contest below:

The only debuting nation on this odds update is Hlhata States. Other than that, there are a few notable shifts as the bookmakers change their minds and start to rethink the winning odds of some. Izmedu and Todlichebujoku fall quite a bit, out of the top ten, and this has caused a domino effect with many of the nations that were originally under them moving up a place. Polkopia falls one place, and Malta Comino Gozo therefore takes the second position in the odds. Titaniumland is the only nation to have their odds shortened and also move up in the rank into 19th.

This is urgent and time sensitive. I am writing this here because not all WV100 participants are active in the IBA Discord server but I still think you have a right to know.

In the past 12 or so hours, a discussion emerged in the IBA server on whether semifinals should be instated for the current edition of WV. Of course, this took place well after host voting was underway, and with less than 24 hours to go until the results are announced and the IC thread is expected to be posted.

The general consensus, of the group of people participating in the discussion, supported the instatement of semifinals for WV100, citing the higher-than-usual amount of signups potentially leading to a record high amount of entries, and a grand final of over 60 entries (the current record is slightly under 50). Although the details are yet to be ironed out, the direction of the conversation pointed towards a format in which the traditional IC thread will be turned into a semifinals megathread, with semifinal halves being allocated after the closure of entry posting, and the host copying and pasting qualifying entries onto a separate grand final IC thread.

I think it is important to note that this is not necessarily a spur-of-the-moment suggestion but rather a concept that has been proposed several times in the past to address a persistently looming scenario. With the Eurovision Song Contest—which WorldVision is based on—having semifinals, the idea of replicating it at WV is not a necessarily difficult to envision.

That being said, this is a quite significant change to the format of the upcoming contest and, considering the timing of this proposal, may require participants to reevaluate their planned aproach to the contest on short notice. It may also come as a shock to participants who are not active on the Discord server, who may feel as though the decision was made without their consultation. Furthermore, host bidders may have different plans on how they wish (or not wish) to implement semifinals, which may affect the preferred choices of host voters. That is why I am writing this here.

Now, don't get me wrong. Since I am contending a bid and may potentially have to make the decision on whether to have semifinals, I can confidently confirm that the team behind the Monterra bid, both ICly and OOCly, is capable of hosting WorldVision with a semifinal format, on such short notice. However, we will only do so with the approval of the WorldVision Committee and widespread support from the WorldVision community. We are more than willing to have a dialogue with the WVC and discuss with all of you regarding the exact desired format of WV100, should we gain hosting rights (including potentially following the format that has been proposed in the server). The last thing we want is to commemorate such a special milestone in a way that dissatisfies all of you.

With the host voting closing in a little over 6 hours as of this post, I look forward to see the discussion that continues to unfold, especially considering what has already been said on the server.

While I feel as though this announcement would've been better made by a third party who isn't involved in the bidding process, I do echo the sentiments expressed by Kalosia regarding a change of format. As someone who has had experience hosting Semi-Finals with a short amount of notice, I am ready to do whatever is best to celebrate the centenary edition of the contest.

In the meantime before the results of the host bid are announced and soon after, I encourage everyone to express their opinions about a one-off Semi-Final round for WV100 on either the OOC thread below or the Discord server. There are many different ways that the contest could go ahead, with my personal opinions being expressed in Discord. I've been a long time supporter of adding semis to the contest to reflect Eurovision, but I am also completely fine with the contest going as normal. I think a major draw for semis, though, is making the workload on the host a bit easier by extending the contest slightly and having a smaller grand final but that choice isn't mine, nor any of the bidders alone - it's down to the committee and the community as a whole.

Don't forget to vote if you haven't already! #doportedas100 :)

Yeah I would be completely fine if the contest ended up having the usual format too.

Something that went over my head at the time I wrote my last message: there is a threshold of number of entries that has to be crossed in order to activate semifinals, so if we get a typical or smaller amount of entries then there will be no change. The threshold number is also being discussed. That being said, the possibility of a record high number of participants feels very real this edition...

It seems that, therefore, this is a discussion that can be ongoing while the initial/usual IC thread is set up, in my understanding.

Almatsi Mustonen Goes To WorldVision!
Aila Kišimoto, Kaltekasai Daily

One of the nation's latest top pop starlets is making her debut on the WorldVision stage in time for the 100th anniversary of the contest. After making a strong showing at the Pulsar heat of the Starfall 2 national final some time ago with her song "ANYTHING", she became a regular on the top charts despite not qualifying to the final. Her debut album "Kaunis Mürkkü" debuted at number 2 to critical acclaim, with many said critics noting their surprise at how much the fully fleshed-out thematic and musical content contrasted with her initial airheaded impression that many had taken to be her personality when first viewing her on the screen. Continuing to defy expectations, her continuing success has led her to a rendezvous back with TÖBUK, and the opportunity to finally strut her stuff on the international stage.

With her arrival in WorldVision, her star may only rise higher. Her song, "Quarter To Two", inspired by the horrific crisis not long ago, and its aftershocks to the current day, has just been released after her performance at the Junterapten Pre-Party in Britonisea. As semi-finals are becoming seriously likely for the first time in the history of WorldVision, the competition will be extremely tough, and we wish the best of luck to Almatsi and her team!

UPDATE: There is a claim surfacing around the matrix and among the WV fan and betting community that Bugge Birg and Takako Raudive will be representing the nation with the song "Big Dick, Hot Lips" to celebrate hetero pride. This is confirmed to be fully untrue, and is a hoax perpetrated by the rogue broadcaster Viisi Vanhaa Maitomiestá xD. Please pay close attention to the sources of such "news" before you take it as truth and share it!

Host Results!

Thank you to the 21 people who voted! Now it is time to reveal the results:

Citysburgh, Placely Placington - 145 points

Schuftsburg, Caryton - 166 points

Doportedas - Britonisea, 222 points

Which means:

Monterra, Kalosia - 230 points!!!

As Britonisea has stated no intention to host the special event, that means Schuftsburg, Caryton will host the Second Chance special edition!

What a plot twist, and congratulations! Best of luck to the WV100 host, especially with the possibility of semi-finals looming large!

And of course we are looking forward to Second Chance, which will play out after this 100th WorldVision.

With that, good luck all and let's get started!

Omg it's us! Woo!!!

For now the IC thread will run as usual, however once we get a large amount of entries then we will trigger the discussion regarding semifinals. We're also in talks with the WVC to see if signups can be extended by a week (at no extra cost to the existing schedule), since this was the original suggestion in the server that led to the semifinal proposal in the first place.

A special, heartfelt thanks on behalf of Scotatrova and I to everyone who had faith in our bid  and now,

Also, we opt for a soft deadline for the entry posting.
