An Open Letter from The Pope

To The Nations of The World,

We are in agreement that the intermingling and shifting of global alliances are not only futile in the rapid shifting politics of modern world affairs, but also deadly for civilization as a whole. Warfare between allied nations has and will continue to conflagrate the world into global conflicts that could devastate the planet and potentially even wipe out life as we know it. It is the great sin, pride, that drives this. Only God should have the right to blow the horns that signal apocalypse. Men unleashing it defies the will of the Lord.

While we shall not speak on this matter ex cathedra, and shall leave it to Catholic nations to forge their own foriegn policies, we will use our position as pontiff of the Holy Mother Church to encourage Christian nations to avoid large entangling alliances. Singular alliances with a partner nation are acceptable, but things like ententes of many great empires are not acceptable. The Papal Empire, of which contains Italy, Spain, the Benelux countries, the Caribbean, and Equatorial Guinea shall NOT involve itself in such alliances during our reign. We can and will stand alone to defend ourselves and advance our interests abroad.

That being said, we will defend those Catholic states threatened from invasion or internal dissidence from heretical sects and heathens. As per the bull "UNAM SANCTUM", "that spiritual power surpasses in dignity and in nobility any temporal power whatever, as spiritual things surpass the temporal.", it is our right and duty to intervene in any Christian nation for their defense should the need arise. This is not an alliance so much as a sphere of influence. The Inquisition shall have the right to head these interventions wherever required.
