it is VERY good we have just eiko and kasem and not kasem and his buddies otherwise that sometimes would be voided herein by their misadventures

One could make it longer, yes, but for an intro, I've seen (and done ; )) worse.

Is there a path to The Sacred Grove of Rhiannon, and is it possible to... not take that path for some reason? Kasem is about to pull a navigation 100 and try to flex his scouting abilities to impress Eiko (he is not impressed because that's not what he cares about in Kasem).

There is a path and missing it is possible, though finding it again is easy. Though I guess, that is not Kasem's aim... ; )
