Marriage of the Emir of Wadiya [IC/OPEN]

Postby United Wadiyan Emirates » Tue May 10, 2022 10:14 am

Emir Khaled Al-Sharawyi, the current Emir and Caliph of the United Wadiyan Emirates, is marrying Princess Hagar, the adopted daughter of the Sultan of Sale-Rabat and also a member of the Royal Family of Sale-Rabat. Princess Hagar is a 18 year old Israeli woman who was adopted by the Sultan of Sale-Rabat after her parents were killed by gangsters. She is a fair-skinned woman who has long brown hair and a beautiful built and is also a celebrated beauty in her country. The marriage is a very important one as it unites the ruling families of two of the strongest Islamic countries in the world. Sale-Rabat and Wadiya also share similar views on things such as slavery and thus this marriage is expected to formalise the extremelly friendly relationships between the two countries.

The marriage is taking place at the Grand Kurshad Mosque, located in the heart of the capital city of Kurshad in Wadiya. It is the largest mosque in the country and is also one of the oldest, built during the 17th century. This is the Emir's second marriage, after his previous marriage to Princess Ameerah three years ago. Princess Ameerah is currently pregnant with the Emir's second child and thus wont be able to attend the marriage. Almost all the members of the Wadiyan royal family are present, with the men dressed in either their military attires or traditional dresses while all the women members are covered in burqa.

Finally Emir Khaled arrives, wearing a fashionable mixture of the traditional dress and his military uniform of a Field Marshal. He patiently waits for the Sultan of Sale-Rabat to arrive with his daughter so that they can be married.

While this thread is open for anyone who wishes to participate, there is but one rule that I feel needs to be enforced to prevent de-railing the RP. No hostilities or acts of violence are allowed. I mean, come on dude, this is a marriage ceremony not a battleground to test your nukes. This is supposed to be a non-violent roleplay and should remain as such, please. Any post violating this rule shall be asked to be removed by a mod.

The Sultan of Salé-Rabat arrives outside of the church carried in his royal palanquin, and as he descends a carriage arrives with her adopted daughter. Altough she is Jewish by birth, when being adopted by the Sultan Caliph she was converted to islam and has been raised in a strictly religious environement. She is covered in a red burqah, chosen by his father the Sultan Caliph, as red means love, and takes the hand of his adopter daughter. Therefore, they head into the Grand Kurshad Mosque, with the Sultan Caliph wearing his military gear of Supreme Commander of his armed and a gold, big ring in each hand. Servants and slaves kowtow to him, and he arrives with Hagar to the place where her groom is waiting for her.

-KNEEL! tells the Sultan Caliph to Hagar, and she does so obediently.

He then sits in the first row.

Daniel Jessup, a journalist from the National Gazette, arrives at the wedding wearing a nice suit and his press credentials. Jessup is one of the Gazette's foremost foreign correspondents. He has been sent to cover this wedding because there is increased public interest in the Islamic world, especially countries like Wadiya and Sale-Rabat. He knows his readers are expecting a story full of exotic details about faraway lands.

Daniel makes note of the clothing that the other guests are wearing, especially the burqas worn by the women. He writes in his notebook: The people of Wadiya and Sale-Rabat force women to wear strange garments that cover them completely. He also notes the way that the Sultan Caliph speaks to his daughter: The bride, a Jewess converted to the Mohammedan religion, is treated more like slave than a daughter by her "adoptive father."

"What? Sorry, I don't speak that language." Daniel Jessup said, in a tone of voice that showed he was not particularly embarrassed or concerned about his ignorance. "Daniel Jessup, I represent the National Gazette in Mareyland. Are you related to the bride or groom?"

Instead of kissing the Wali's hand, Daniel simply took it and gave a firm, businesslike handshake.

"Follow me." he orders her as he begins walking towards the center of the Mosque. Hagar follows him. They kneel before the Grand Mufti and the marriage ceremony begins. The ceremony is an elaborate one and there are a large number of cameras and press people who are covering the marriage live. The ceremony goes on for a long time. Finally the Mufti ask them to take the holy vow and swear by the Quran which they both do. The Mufti then proclaims them husband and wife. A huge cheer erupts and the Emir and his new wife walks towards the cameras to take pictures.

Then the Emir walks towards the Sultan of Sale Rabat to take his blessing. He smiles and asks him: "I hope the journey was a pleasant one?"

After congratulating his adoptive daughter and his new husband and telling the correspondent of Mareyland to center himself on his work, which is to cover the wedding, and not to have an opinion about our culture and morals, and even less about our religion, he turns to the Emir of Wadiyah and says.

-Indeed, and now the day itself seems more pleasant as we have united our families forever. I hope your new wife pleases you, and if she doesn't, you know what to do.Notice me of any complain you may have about her. Now, I hope you have a pleasant wedding night, and he winks to the Emir.

After that, he climps up to his royal palanquin and orders the slaves to start carrying him to the hotel.

Daniel Jessup brushed off the rude words from the Sultan of Sale-Rabat. In fact, he welcomed them. The wedding ceremony had been long and boring, and not worth writing much about. But this bit of personal drama could get some attention.

As the Sultan left the wedding, Daniel wrote down more in his notebook:

The Sultan of Sale-Rabat is obviously a man used to being obeyed, and seemed offended that someone might not worship the ground he walks on. He makes crude insinuations to the groom, and speaks of his adopted daughter like an animal sold at market. Perhaps this is what passes for fatherly love in his country. Then he leaves on a pallet carried by slaves, like an Oriental rajah of old.

"Is it true that Miss Hagar is your second wife?" He asked the Emir. "How many wives are you allowed?"

The Sultan tells him that if he keeps behaving like that, he might get expelled of the country by the Emir of Wadiyah, and that he would gladly help him to.

-Listen, I know in your country people have no respect to your rulers, because instead of being elected by ALLAH, they are elected by the people. I am not going to change that, but in my country and in Wadiyah, leaders, be it sultans or emirs are respected and feared, because fearing them is fearing Allah.

The Reverend Mother Popillius Cleopatra Aisha, a native herself to the region who'd fled to Krete many years ago during a time of crisis, arrived at the mosque in a large litter. It was borne by six men of Krete, as she herself was riding with several acolytes of The Society of The Great Mother. They were both her attendants and her students, as Aisha was a proctor for the Petsofas Mountain Training School. She'd been dispatched to a place as backwater as Wadiya by the Mother Superior herself. While they knew the Rhean Motherhood would gain no traction in a place as woefully patriarchal as a Muslim state, the Motherhood still took a deep interest in the crossbreeding of these royal families. The genetic potential could never be ignored.

The litter lurched as one of the bearers tripped in a pot hole.

When the litter came to a stop, the mothers opened the curtains and exited to take stock of the mosque and the attendants of the wedding. The acolytes giggled as the onlookers gasped upon seeing the mothers, but Aisha silenced them with a look, and they fell into repose. Being Mothers of the Society of Rhea, all members wore the garb of the women of bronze age Minoan Krete, as did their servants the male garb. Taking this moment of shock and horror, Aisha finished taking stock of the guests and their body language. She turned to the male servants behind her. Their incompetence in not seeing a pot hole on midday had to be chastised. She uttered a word in the Tone. It reverberated through the male's body, and he began to beat himself severely. The others threw him into the litter and carried him away.

Reverend Mother and Acolytes moved into the crowd and began to mingle with the women there.

Then he leaves on a pallet carried by slaves, like an Oriental rajah of old.

"Is it true that Miss Hagar is your second wife?" He asked the Emir. "How many wives are you allowed?"

The Emir was meeting all the guests, shaking their hands and talking to them when suddenly he heard someone asking him something. He turned around to see a man, who appeared to be a news reporter of some sort. He also happened to come from a foreign country, notably a Western country. Emir isn't really fond of Westerners, he considers them infidels, and he certainly isn't fond of news reporters either. In an absolute state like Wadiya, no foreign press is allowed. There is just a single domestic press which is under the direct control of the Royal family. He stopped smiling and became dead serious, and replied: "It is indeed true that Princess Hagar is my second wife. My first wife Princess Ameerah is pregnant with my child. And, according to Islam I am legally allowed to have four wives simultaneously."

He was about to say more, when the Sultan of Sale-Rabat intercepted and began showing the Western reporter his place, and so the Emir stopped short and swiftly moved away from the scene.

Reorganized Portugal wrote:Crown Prince Afonso and his wife Maria arrive. Afonso is wearing a plain black suit and tie, with a Portuguese flag pin, and Maria is wearing a red dress with a hat with the Portuguese coat of arms embroidered onto it.

The Emir of Wadiya smiled and greeted the Crown Prince of Portugal. He walked up to them and extended his hand, while saying at the same time: "It's such a pleasure to have both of you here. I hope the journey was without any incident?"

The dress of the women and the men shook all those who attended to the core. Especially the dress of the women. A lot of people gasped on seeing the obscenly dressed people, most men dragged away their burkha-clad wives and children away from them, while those who stayed behind tried their best to ignore them.

General Sheikh Mohammed Al-Sharawyi, the younger brother of the Emir and one of his most trusted confidants, was casually strolling the place with his 2 wives. Suddenly his eyes fell on the people of the Society of Rhea, especially the Mother, and he gasped. He ordered his servants to immediately remove his wives and three children from the site. After they had done so, he gathered up enough courage to walk up to the Mother, while trying his level best to not stare at her revealed breasts. "Who the hell are you and what are you people doing here? Your dress has crossed all levels of obscenity." he shouted at her.

The Neo-Minoan League wrote:The Reverend Mother Popillius Cleopatra Aisha, a native herself to the region who'd fled to Krete many years ago during a time of crisis, arrived at the mosque in a large litter.

The Wali of Swat asks the police to escort them out, whilst his wife looks away.

It seemed very odd that Karl had decided to arrive, as he took a seat in the back. He took out a cigarette and began to smoke it, although this may be frowned upon in Wadiya.
