It is stated that a number of students have poked the eyes of their fellow students blinding them, two are in custody but are widely supported in the press and on social media, for some reason.

In addition, the Commissioner of Police has supported the concept of “an eye for an eye” in relation to the incidents causing widespread protests.

“It was just a random craze. It’s not very common. A recent consultation has advocated toughening sentences for men and boys who harm women and girls so we are introducing longer prison or approved school (‘juvie’) terms for grievous bodily harm and a range of other crimes. “
