Vlad leaned over the table in Narris’ cabin’s living room. He had been in the paradise for about a month now, and while he still wasn’t quite convinced about this place, much less the people in it, they presented him an opportunity he simply couldn’t afford to pass up. He glanced around at the other occupants; Narris was there, obviously, and he already knew that even in her heavily pregnant state she wasn’t going to accept staying behind. Only a couple of others had shown up here, but Vlad figured that made sense, since almost no one knew or trusted him yet, and the woman he now knew as Glacia seemed far too trusting for her own good. He wasn’t entirely sure how she’d convinced the man beside her, whose name he was pretty sure was Alvis, or maybe Alvin, to come along, but right now he’d take anything he could get.

“So, as you no doubt all are aware, during the… tussle… on Mount Aegir, a certain blade was stolen from me. One that’s just absolutely super fucking cursed,” he informed the other three. “And also, one that is my rightful trophy. I hardly think I need to tell you I intend to get it back, but I’ve learned that force is almost definitely out of the question on this one. So I intend to steal it.”

Glacia for her part seems mostly happy that Vlad seemed to finally be willing to talk to them more, but she also understood better than most what a cursed blade was like, even if the one she carried was no longer like that. “Oooh, I was wondering when we would get around to this! Ivrea’s really done it this time!” She giggled.

“Not only that,” Alvis had insisted on coming along for this one, “You just don’t steal a valuable treasure from a dragon and just think they’ll forget about it. Especially not one as dangerous as that.”

“Huh. Not bad, kid,” Vlad nodded. “I won’t pretend pride isn’t part of it. But it’s not all of it. When I say the thing is super fucking cursed, I mean it. That sword is made out of the tooth of a dragon that almost consumed an entire world, and then was experimented on by a man I can best describe as a bastard. Yes, even compared to my recent actions,” he grimaced at this but continued. “This guy was worse. I don’t know what the fox intends to do with it, but if she’s not careful, and we can all agree she isn’t, right?... Anyways, if she’s not careful, it will pollute her mind.”

“Wow, Alv, I didn’t know you knew so much about that sorta thing,” Glacia giggled again, “I guess that’s the dragon within talking! But yes, I’m all aware about how swords like that can be; had to deal with one myself, and I was lucky the force wasn’t malevolent. And Ivrea… she is possibly the most careless person I know.”

“... why are you surprised at me knowing that?” Alvis asked, “There are days I spend more in the dragon form than this. And besides, Vlad here clearly knows how to handle it better than that fox does, and I’d rather not have such a dangerous item in the hands of someone like her.”

"Aye. I would rather not leave something like that sword in her possession…. especially not given her track record." Narris said, shaking her head.

“Right, good, we’re on the same page,” Vlad nodded. “I’ve heard that this Indra is known to host absolutely ridiculous parties on occasion. I’m not really a super well versed expert on this stuff, so Narris, would you mind telling our… companions about the upcoming event?”

"That….be an understatement, Vlad. Some of her parties are notorious for how absurd they can be." Narris said, giving a heavy sigh," That said, this particular event be of high import as it be a gathering of her top followers and some of the Silverdalean Pantheon. Essentially, it be a mix of gods, thieves, the very rich, and several members of her kitsune following will be there. All there to observe the find treasures she collected, mingle, and rumor has it compete in a game for a token of her favor. All told, plenty of opportunity for us to sneak in. Also word of warning…Ivrea likely won't be herself for the event. Likely that she be using another of her aspects for it .."

“Oh!” Glacia said. “Actually, I got an invitation to this one… not that surprising, really, I’m part of the same pantheon, after all. And for what she is, she might be Zhulong, that’s her fused aspect with one of her top followers. Basically a master of magic alongside her other skills.”

“In other words, just even more trouble than she already is,” Alvis sighed.

"That pretty much be the gist of it…Not to mention she be a lot more ruthless like that." Narris said, sighing, "Still if one of us can keep her distracted, we should have less of a problem "

“Right, that’s the ticket in. Needless to say, I won’t be invited,” Vlad pointed out. “Which means it will likely be Glacia and you, Narris, who need to run interference, and if possible, figure out how we can get into her vault. I’m assuming she won’t be bringing the sword out to show… but then again, maybe she will. If that’s the case, I’ll trip every alarm in the vault on purpose, and then you will have to grab the sword and get out yourselves.”

“Right!” Glacia said with a smile, “I’ve got a lot of connections with the people there, so Ivrea can’t really complain if I go checking things around; she’ll get the ire of a lot of people if she was hostile to me.”

"I doubt she will complain if Glacia brings me along either, given I be one of her new followers..not to mention Ivrea and I are on decent enough terms." Narris suggested.

“In that case,” Alvis asked. “What about me? It’s not like I have much experience in galas or heists…”

“I see two good options,” Vlad replied. “I’ve been here for a month, and I spent fourteen days of that asleep, and yet in the remaining fourteen days I’ve seen at least eight different women pull you aside. I highly doubt Indra is immune to these… charms of yours,” he rolled his eyes. “The other option is that you learn how to travel the Void before the day of the heist. Narris told me you got the ‘gift’ too?”

“Alvis does have a way with the ladies,” Glacia laughed at this fully, not merely her usual giggle. “I think a good chunk of the guests would be hoping to spend some time with you!”

Alvis just sighed at this, “Well… yes, I did get that ‘gift’. I’ve been… kind of concerned about it, really. I don’t really get how it works yet, or how to use it properly.”

“I can teach you,” Vlad said. “I will warn you, though, that it does come with risks. The thing will become harder and harder to separate from you the more you use it. I doubt a single heist will induce that much change, but it is a very tempting power, and not just the traveling. The actual, physical power… Well. I’ve heard it took me over completely at Mt. Aegir. I don’t actually remember it, so I’d like to know what it was like on the other side, to be honest.”

“It was… not a pretty sight, to say the least,” Alvis replied. “I would prefer never to get to that point myself if I can help it, but I was just hopelessly outmatched then. At least Glacia and the others could do something about it… but I don’t think doing it with this power is the right way.”

Glacia patted him on the back, “Don’t worry about it, Alv; I don’t think Vlad would be willing to let you risk it here if it was too much. Plus he might appreciate the extra strength regardless!”

“It’s not my soul, body, and mind at risk,” Vlad shrugged. “Or, I should say, mine are long since too tangled up. What you do with yours is up to you. I have no intention of letting the Void have you, but let’s be clear; it’s because I’ve spent a very long time suppressing it as much as I can.”

"Do not worry, Alvis. Neither Vlad or I are going to let ye end up falling into the same ensnarement he did. That said, it still be best if ye try to be careful in yer use of it. Especially considering ye still be relatively new to it." Narris said, nodding at Vlad's remarks.

“R-right…” Alvis still seemed nervous. “I suppose if you think I can handle this part, then I want to help out. Ivrea was really out of line stealing that sword, and she needs to learn that these things have consequences. And… I am admittedly kinda curious on what other treasures she has there.”

“Huh. You already jumped ahead, but yes, that’s where pride comes into it. She stole my sword. I’m going to lift every single thing I can that’s not bolted down. If you have a problem with larceny, now would be a good time to back out,” Vlad said, looking mostly at Glacia.

"Heh! Surely you jest Vlad? You know damn well that I've stolen plenty over my seven hundred years, be it as a pirate or otherwise. That said, I do be curious about what we will find in there. Who knows, might be some truly grand treasures given her proclivities…" Narris remarked

“Oh, well…” Glacia’s eyes flickered a bit as she seemed to have some conflict within her for about a minute, before they turned grey. “If Ivrea was truly innocent and got all this stuff honestly, maybe I would have an issue with it, but we all know how she really got all this treasure. It isn’t hers to begin with, so she really has no right to complain if we happen to liberate it from her clutches, right?”

"I suppose not….given that most of what she have in there be ill gotten. Besides, she could use a little lesson that teaches her a bit of humility." Narris chuckled, looking back towards Vlad, "That being said, we might be wanting to see about getting someone with knowledge of Cohlane and it's defenses. Otherwise we'd be going in blind. Given her aptitude for magic, I'd rather not be risking it."

"I was getting to that, yes," Vlad sighed. "Frankly, we don't have the right people. Two, or even all three, of you might end up in the role of running the crowd, leaving only me for the actual heisting, which is fine, except that none of us know anything about the defenses, and our methods of communication will be lackluster. We need at least two or three more members; someone on the inside who will sell us info, a central control to coordinate us, and one more person for either or both crowd control and heisting."

“If we need an extra person to help with the crowd control portion, I have a follower who is really good at that,” Glacia giggled. “For communication, it depends on what we’re looking for; when I was part of the First Order of Mythic Guardians, my squad had a psychic for making a battlemind link between all of us, but I’d be worried about Ivrea knowing about this, or being able to sense such trickery at play. But that’s a risk no matter what type of communication we go for.”

"We could go electronic, as well. No matter what, the command tower can't be on premises, it's too risky," Vlad opined. "If you have a good candidate for the crowd, I'll work with Alvis here on his voidstep."

"I will see what I can do about finding us some Intel on the vaults or her estate. Failing that, I do know a few folks there that might be willing to help us break in." Narris suggested

"Good. If we can get an expert in the various types of lockpicking for the heist team, we should have everyone we need," Vlad nodded. "Remember, not a word of this to anyone we don't intend to recruit, and even then only if you completely trust them."

"I think I have someone in mind for that as well. Might be a bit pricey, but I think we can manage." Narris said, nodding

“We’ll make the fox pay for it,” Vlad snorted.

“So stupid question, but have you thought about what you are going to do if she catches you?” Narris said, an eyebrow raised.

“If I say ‘kill her’, I assume I’m going to get told off,” Vlad snarked.

“Preferably not, but she’ll probably just get revived either way,” Glacia giggled. “But I would prefer her only be mad for stealing from her and not killing her.”

“I dunno, I think she might be more upset from stealing from her,” Alvis added.

“Oh I guarantee ye that ye’d end up killing a clone or vessel of hers, rather than the real Ivi. Damn trick she picked up from that fox. Regardless, I agree in that she’d be more mad over ye stealing from her than anything.”

“Right, well, preferably it doesn’t come to that,” Vlad rolled his eyes. “We’re here to steal, not start a war. If possible, evasion will be our go to route, and then escape. Violence only if absolutely needed.”

“Yes, I would prefer that too,” Glacia’s eyes turned gold briefly before fading again. “Too risky to have it come to blows with her.”

“Agreed, better to avoid violence if we can. That being said, do expect her to throw some curveballs yer way Vlad. Glaci knows that she loves to play with her foe’s heads in more ways then one.’ Narris muttered

Vlad raised an eyebrow. “Surely even she’s smart enough to know that’s a losing game for everyone, right? She was at the mountain too, after all…”

“Dunno for sure on that one, Vlad. We will just be having to see…’’ Narris remarked, shrugging.

“Ivrea’s… not exactly the most humble person around,” Alvis sighed. “She might think she can handle more than she actually can.”

“Aye, the wee lass does have a tendency to overestimate her abilities becoming a goddess hasn’t helped that.” Narris sighed, “Maybe this will finally teach her she ain’t the hot shit she thinks she be.”

“... do you guys want me to beat her up? It really kinda sounds like everyone in the room thinks she needs it,” Vlad asked, his eyebrow trying to launch to space.

“Sweetie, I don’t necessarily think we would object to it if ye were forced to. Hell, it might actually do er some good….” Narris joked, giving Vlad a shove

“... but honestly if we can avoid it we should,” Glacia said. “Would just make escaping with the treasure harder. I just wouldn’t feel too bad for her if we end up having to do it.”

“I think I’m starting to understand why you people chased me across literally different worlds,” Vlad sighed. “Great. That’s all I have unless we can get some better insider information. Anyone else?”
“I would beg to disagree, but that be neither here or there. At any rate, I do know of a certain magus that might be willing to help us, for the right price.” Narris remarked, “She should be familiar enough with the place given she helped build the vaults.”

“Good,” Vlad nodded. “Get in contact with her, please? You and I can meet with her if she says yes.”

“Sure….she might even be willing to do this to teach her a lesson. That said….” Narris looked toward Glacia, “Do ye still have a way to get in contact with Catherine, Glaci?”

“Considering she’s my aunt, of course I do,” Glacia giggled. “I can send her a message to get her onboard, she loves helping out her favourite niece!”

“Might not hurt to get Yuki on this too. Might give her a chance to knock ivi down a peg.” Narris giggled

“I suppose I could ask,” Alvis shrugged. “She’s always had a bit of a disdain for Ivrea’s pilfering ways, though I don’t know how much she would approve of stealing ourselves…”

“Oh, don’t worry, I think she’ll be on board,” Glacia winked. “I heard that Ivrea snatched something of hers recently too.”

“If you find out what I’ll see if I can nab it back. Should cover the fee,” Vlad said. “We’ll have to grab enough to cover everyone’s fee, I don’t intend to have to pay to reclaim my stolen property.”

“I could always start a hoard myself with the spoils I get,” Alvis thought aloud. “... what, I’ve been settled in here enough that I’ve had thoughts about it.”

“Would make for a good start to our new hoard, wouldn’t ye say Vlad. Or at the very least pay for a nice get away fer us.” Narris joked, with a slight laugh, “That said, I think we should end up with enough to satisfy ye all to at least some degree.”

"Your hoard, sure," Vlad said. "Mine is well established, I just need to bring it over."

“Don’t think ye won’t be sharin that hoard, Vlad. Especially given ye still owe me for this….plus havin to hunt ye across the void.” Narris joked, gesturing to her stomach

His eyes narrowed. "Over my dead… anyways," he interrupted himself with a deep breath. "Luckily this is a fox and not a dragon, or else she would chase us to the end of time for even threatening to take a single coin."

"Or say, taking a valuable sword of theirs,” Glacia giggled. “She’ll whine and pout over it no doubt, but I don’t think she would really want to mess with us in this domain; if she tries she might up with a lil’surprise!”

“I think you might be enjoying that a little much, cuddlebug,” Alvis chuckled, “But yes, this place is home to some strong warriors that won’t exactly appreciate an intruder coming in to snatch stuff.”

“Oh she will definitely make a fuss about it, but I think at the end of the day she will not be dense enough to push her luck here. Even she not be thick enough to try to test us here.” Narris laughed, as she took hold of Vlad’s arm, “Well, if that be all….Then it might best for us to go about gettin ready.”

"Sure," Vlad yawned, leaning against Narris. "You all get your people… I'll go back to bed for a bit, I think…"

Narris chuckled as she began to walk Vlad back towards their cabin, before looking back towards Glacia, “See if you can get a hold of Catherine and anybody else you think might help us, Glaci. After I take care of Vlad here, I will do what I can to recruit a few friends of mine.”

“Okiedokies!” Glacia took Alvis’s arm, “Let’s go Alv, we got some recruiting to do for the heist!”

“Okay, I get why I want to do this, I get the dragon mentality,” Alvis said as Glacia was leading him away, “But I just don’t get why you want to do it so much…”

After their initial meeting, it was time to start recruiting the team. Glacia for her own part wanted to focus on the two people she would have the easiest time obtaining. Returning to her manor in the Divine Spring, she found her twin elven maids Flocon and Neige, “Welcome home, master!” Flocon said, the bubblegum pink-haired one said. “Did your meeting with the big dragon guy go well?”

“His name’s Vladimir, sister,” Neige sighed, the dark blue-haired maid shook her head. “I suppose you are trying to understand him better, master?”

“It’s coming along at least,” Glacia smiled, giving the pair a hug, “Now, is Lyclyn here? I wanted to talk to her?”

“Oh, of course, right this way!” Flocon led her into the living room.

Lyclyn sat on one of the comfortable sofas as she carefully typed down entire paragraphs of what appeared to be a story in a tabloid. The arctic elf seemed to be in a trance as her ears failed to hear the approach of her goddess. “And so…. No no, it sounds too confusing for a non-celestial audience.” She then grinned as she then figured out an idea.

Glacia flew over to her paladin and gave her a huggle! “Hiya! Whatcha writing about?”

Lyclyn purred as she returned the hug. “Oh a little short story on my recent adventure! Fictionalized of course. “

“Oh really?” Glacia looked over, “I suppose it’s a little much for them to understand the full details. But speaking of that… how would you like to have a little fun adventure with me and some friends, my dear?”

“A fun adventure?” Lyclyn mused as she showed a bit of her story about her time in the underworld. “I’d love to! I suppose there is something unique about this one, yes?”

“Oh, well,” Glacia walked over to sit down with Lyclyn, “It has to do with Ivrea. She’s been too much of a troublemaker, and she’s been stealing things from all over, including stuff from here. Well, we’ve decided enough is enough, and we’re gonna give her a taste of her own medicine.”

“Oh dear oh dear… That racoon never learns.” Lyclyn tsk. “As of late: I lost one of my valuable swords to that elf. I guess a little punishment of our own thief, alongside a few charms, shall do.”

“Oh really?” Glacia giggled, “Well, we’ll have to add that to the list of things to get back from her. I think you’ll enjoy your part; she’ll be having a gala with other deities and their followers, and you’ll get to accompany me as one of my escorts. You can wear whatever you please, so long as the attention remains on us for it.”

“Then the answer is clear to us.” Lyclyn sprouted both pearl angelic wings and bat-line pairs. “Alongside my attire or lack thereof, my abilities did develop where I am something far more worldly.”

“Oooh, that’s sure to grab their attention,” Glacia admired her head paladin’s powers, “I think it’ll be great! Now, I’ll be back once I recruit the others, so you may finish your story… and then I’ll give you a new one to write about!” She giggled.

“Why of course. Do keep an eye for something eye popping. Yet not too dangerous like a literal demon lord!” Lyclyn winked.

“Of course sweetie!” Glacia waved as she left, wondering how Narris was doing on her end…

—-

In the days after the meeting, Narris had devised a list of who might be most useful for the team. She already had two candidates in mind for the mission, one of whom would be far easier to obtain the services of than the other. It was that thought that had led Narris to the gates of the Dystan Royal navy base in Calberona. As she stood at its threshold, she could see the masts of several warships peeking up beyond the walls of the base as water draconid and sarkesh sailors milled about. “Hopefully he not be gettin the wrong idea….” Narris muttered as she was at last let through, with her making a beeline towards what she thought was the administrative building of the base. After a few minutes of walking, she found herself sitting outside of Nialis’s office, trading small talk with his secretary as she awaited his arrival….

Nialis had been sitting in his office, having not returned to active duty since the Winter War ended; when Narris had been let in, the blue-scaled Draconid looked up with a slight smile, but his eyes looked sunken, “Oh… Narris. It has been a while since we last met, has it not?”

Narris gave a slight smile as she sat down, all the while her eyes lingered on the weathered gaze of the draconid. The last time she had seen him, he had been full of vigor and quite lively. Yet, it seemed as if whatever he had been through in the winter war had drained him of that, something which concerned her greatly, “It be good to see ye, Nialis. Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve been able to see ye, but…recent events have kept me rather busy. I trust ye have been holding together?”

“I…” Nialis sighed, “I wish I could say that, but… no, Narris, I have not been holding it together. Even for a psychic of my caliber, I have my limits on how much I am capable of, and during the war, I… overextended myself, to say the least. Between managing matters between several nation’s navies and being personally attacked by monsters over the course of the war… I am not certain if I will ever be able to return on a ship’s deck ever again where I belong.”

“I….can see it on ye….No offense, but ye look like ye have had the spark ye had when we last be together drained from ye. Between what ye be telling me and the stories i heard about ye from Silverdale, I can see it all too well why ye be in the shape ye are in. Perhaps ye be right, but hopefully with time….ye will be able to return to the command deck where ye belong.” Narris said, giving Nialias a sympathetic look as she sat down beside him, resting a hand on his shoulder.

Nialis looked up at Narris, a few tears in his eyes, “... I hope so, Nari. I really do…” he then had a better look at the dragoness, realizing something, “Um… Narris. What exactly has happened? You are…”

“It be….kind of a long story, Nia….” Narris said, leaning back as she watched the draconid look over her, “Well, if ye must know….I more or less ended up falling for a great wyrm who knocked me up. Followed after him on a months long journey across the worlds to bring his sorry hide back to mystria with some help.”

“... what?” Nialis seemed to be looking for something, “Where is my medication, I think perhaps I am hearing things…”

“No…you heard correct, Nia.” Narris said, giving the draconid a sincere look, “Essentially, what happened was that this great wyrm saved me from being devoured by a wyvern back in me home plane. Ended up getting pulled into Asyn’s realm with him and we spent a few months adventuring together. We….well spent a night together and well….ye can see what happened from that.”

“Great… just great…” Nialis sighed. He was feeling even worse now, he actually thought perhaps someone like her would’ve really stayed with him… “... okay, so I suppose then I have to ask, why are you here? If it was to simply tell me this, thank you for being honest at least.”

“Nia, what be wrong? Ye be acting like i gutted and left ye on the deck to bleed out.” Narris said, raising an eyebrow at his words. She had admittedly been wondering about how the draconid had viewed her, especially given how he had been acting before she had left for Anfang. Yet she tried not to dwell on it as she spoke, “Well….I was actually here to see if ye would be up for helping me and a few associates with a mission of ours. It be a bit unorthodox, but if we be successful ye might earn yer yearly salary in a long night. That plus there be a chance ye could find something to ease yer pain.”

“Oh, really?” Nialis rubbed his head, “Well, I think it would be certainly better than wallowing here in self-pity, at the very least; Cap’n Tobias would never let me live that down. But what sort of role do you have in mind for me?”

“If ye be up for it, i was hoping ye might willing to act as our team’s communication expert. It might be a bit of a pain for ye, but we do be needin yer powers to help us….particularly given we be infiltrating a goddess’s vaults. Given the charms and wards in place, yer abilities would be quite useful” Narris said, giving the water draconid a warm smile as she attempted to reassure him, “i…I know this not be easy for ye, but perhaps helping with this little heist might take yer mind off things. Who knows, maybe we might even find something that be making it worth yer while.”

“... do you really think I would be capable of doing that like this?” Nialis said. “I can barely concentrate on anything anymore, people are worried my powers are potentially permanently damaged… just roughly how many people are involved in this, anyways?”

“Nia, you know damn well I believe ye be capable of doing anything ye set yer mind to….regardless of what be ailin ye. It may be a challenge, yes….but I believe ye can do it. That bein said, if need be we can speak with Yuki about giving ye a means to offset the damage” Narris remarked, a smile on her face, “About seven to eleven people will be involved, us included. So it shouldn’t be too much of a drain on ye.”

“... seven to eleven? Too much of a drain…” Nialis looked up, before bursting into laughter, “That is all? Oh, I thought perhaps you were asking me for like a hundred minds linked! That is nothing to me! Even in this state that is incredibly simple for me to handle! … whew, and you had me worried for a moment, Narris. That said… I would indeed appreciate it if this ‘Yuki’ can help me. I would eventually like to return to something remotely challenging.” he snickered, “Seven to eleven, really…”

“Nah, I knew ye were still recoverin so I wanted to start ye off with something simple, my little cabin boy. After all, it wouldn’t do if I asked ye to perform a hard task like that so soon.” Narris joked, giving Nialis a playful nudge, “But aye, if anybody can fix ye up for the mission it be Yuki.”

“Right…” Nialis sighed, “Well, I shall go see her, then, and see if I can be in good enough a condition for this. … thank you, Narris. I know we were never… serious or anything, but I suppose I must have meant something if you came to me for this.”

“Nia….Had it not been for this or that bullshit with Brasa i was going through, i likely would have considered pursuin ye more seriously. I…just at that time wasn’t in a place where i was ready for it. That said, I did treasure every hour we spent together….” Narris said, patting Nialis’s thigh as she rose from her seat, “I’ll be seeing ye soon.”

—----

Glacia’s next visit was to the icy manor of her best friend. Some people found this place a bit foreboding, but Glacia knew that within was a warmth many miss out on; a fitting analogy of the fox goddess herself. Going inside, she looked around for her…

Yuki was in the midst of training with her cuddly fox Vanna in an open wide room of the manor. As a whole open track field, too many targets of great ice golems were used to both test their speed and endurance… Alongside fighting a few dummies! When the elf entered, Yuki halted her incredible speedy run and looked at the elf. “What a surprise. I thought you didn’t want to train at this hour.”

“Oh, hiya cuddlefox,” Glacia giggled, before summoning her sword and teleporting to strike several of the dummies in a matter of seconds, before warping back. “How are you holding up? Not too many problems, I hope?”

“Outside of requiring tougher dummies, nothing much. Vanna is able to use her forms to wreak havoc once needed.” Yuki commented. “Any trouble you’re facing as of late?”

“Oh, well,” Glacia considered how to ask this of her. “So, um, you know Ivrea, right? How she’s been stealing a lot of important things that belong to others?”

“The elf right? She worked alongside us in previous missions if I recall. Besides I haven’t forgotten about Ivrea.” Yuki then crossed her arms. “Now what did the little dragoness do this time?”

“Well, remember that fight on Mt. Aegir with Vlad? Turns out that sword she stole is quite dangerous if not properly handled. We’re planning on getting it back, along with other things she’s stolen from us over the past while.” Glacia said. “Like one of those heist movies Alvis likes so much.”

“The sword? A heist?” Yuki raised an eyebrow. As if to ponder for a moment, and then grinned as she rubbed her chin. “Oh yes… This would be a good way to teach Ivrea a lesson. She already ignored my demands for a few scrolls to return, and was a pest. Is there anything you need from me, Glacia?”

“Well, I think you could help work as one of the brains of the operation,” Glacia said, “I’ll be on the floor of the gala happening, so you might need to help with Alv’s part of it and help them out. If you have any magic to aid them they’ll be quite handy. Plus, well, you’re probably the fastest runner we have, so if they need some agility I’m sure they’ll appreciate it!”

“Right.” Yuki then thought for a second. “Now cuddlebug, you mention this Gala right? Can you explain this whole event we’re entering?”

“Oooh, right!” Glacia recalled what she knew, “Well, Ivrea’s holding a gala and inviting various deities, alongside their envoys and followers, and some other rich people. I’m gonna be leading the distraction team taking care of things in the gala proper, while Alvis and Vlad are gonna be working on retrieving our stuff.”

“Various deities? Then naturally one of these deities might be the court of Brasa. Which would include herself, Mishera, and other aligned people. Are you sure about sending Alvis and Vlad to acquire our items?” Yuki asked.

“Well, actually… I have an idea there,” Glacia smiled. “See, I have someone in mind to help us get the inside details of the realm. After all… she doesn’t want to disappoint her favourite niece,” she winked.

“Oh! Her!” Yuki then tsk for a second. “Catherine would be a useful ally. Perhaps providing a whole map of the place itself. Just don’t get distracted alright?”

“Of course, and if all else fails, we can always get her to turn Ivi into a toad again,” Glacia giggled. “So whaddya say, cuddlefox, ready to take that lil’ thief down a peg or five?”

“Sure. As long as it isn't ten, which Brasa would come after us.” Yuki winked.

“Lemme deal with her if it comes to that!” Glacia laughed. Of course, speaking of that, she needed to go see her aunt…

Narris for her par had sought out a far more difficult, but potentially valuable recruit in the realm of Dal Riata. As she stepped through the portal into the realm, a small smirk spread across her face as the thought of Ivrea’s reaction would be once she realized who underminder her security. The dragoness cast alter self, transforming into a blue skinned sylph clad in a green top and jeans so to avoid drawing attention to herself. She strode through the streets of Cohlane, intermingling with the crowds of mages, rogues, and petitioners who called the city home. For what seemed like hours, Narris traversed the winding corridors and alleys of the city until she at last arrived at the monolithic platinum gates to the Auroran Palace.

As she approached the gates, she was halted by a pair of Ghaele guards clad in silver armor polished to a mirror like finish. The two regarded Narris coldly with their, hands resting on their short swords as one of them spoke, “Halt there, mortal. The grounds of the palace are off limits to petitioners at this time as her majesty, Lady Kyara is holding a meeting with the rest of the pantheon. State your business here.” Narris smirked as she reached into her coating, producing a small booklet bound in blue leather that bore a silver etching of a crossed rapier, shield, and scythe. The silver insignia shimmered as the guard’s eyes went wide, all the while a small smile spread across their face to which Narris spoke, “I am an emissary of the Warrior Trinity, here to meet with a member of her majesty’s staff. Forgive my impudence, but I am rather late as it is. I trust you do not mind if we hurry this up.” Narris responded, to which the guard gave a slight nod. He gestured for his companion to open the gate before waving Narris through, “Go on through, your grace. Just be mindful not to disturb the meeting.”

The dragoness gave him a smile and a wave, all the while she hustled through the immaculately maintained gardens. She passed all manner of well maintained hedges interspersed with blooming blossoms in all manner of hues, ranging from whites to blues to even a few gold and icy flowers. She couldn’t help but crack a smirk as she saw the twin silver statues of a tanager and a nine tailed kitsune, their forms shining brightly as the light of the realm’s twin suns hit them. Behind them, Narris could see the Auoran Palace of the Aeon Duo, with the building very much living up to its name as the auroras danced between its titanic silver spires. As she climbed the one hundred marble steps of the staircase, the building’s massive pearl doors opened to reveal an opal skinned deva with pale white eyes. Her silvery wings were folded by her, rustling slightly as she beckoned Narris forward, “Ah, Lady Narrislyn….I was wondering when you were going to arrive. Come, follow me if you will.”

The deva led Narris to a conservatory adjoined to the palace, where a small table filled with pastries and tea awaited them. The two took their seats, the deva continuing to look at Narris with intrigued eyes as she spoke, “So what brings you to the Aurora Palace Narris? Surely based on your message, this is more than just a social call….”

“It be good to see ye too, Felice.” Narris said, chuckling as she shifted back into her elven form. She knew from previous experience that the deva had little patience for small talk, as between her duties as Kyara’s herald and angel of death she had little free time. It was a pity, Narris mused, particularly given that she knew the deva was quite the conversationalist from what she’d seen. Shrugging, Narris spoke, “Well, yes….if ye must know I be here to see if ye’d be willing to help me and a few friends of mine with a special mission….One that be requiring yer knowledge of the inner workins of Dal Riata. Ye see, my associates and I be tryin to recover an artifact that a certain goddess of mischief took without askin. One that be very dangerous and whose owner very much be wantin it back.”

Felice shook her head, letting out a heavy sign as her violet lips formed into a scowl. The deva admittedly was unsurprised that Ivrea had at last bitten off more than she could chew, particularly given how often she indulged her love for stealing. She had figured it was only a matter of time until someone attempted to return the favor, but had figured it would at least be a bit longer until it occurred. Normally she would have rejected the request outright and told Narris to leave, but after Ivrea’s recent string of thefts she was willing to indulge it. “Why I am not surprised…..Honestly, between her recklessness and penchant for theft, it’s no small wonder that something like this has not occurred before now. That being said, I suppose I could be amenable to your request….provided you give me a few more details. That and answer a request…”

“Fair enough…..Well, the plan be that me, Glacia, and a few others will be attending the Auroran Gala in a few weeks to be keeping Ivrea busy. While we be doin that, a few friends of ours will be infiltratin those vaults of Ivi’s to recover the sword she stole. That be where ye come in. Yer knowledge of the vaults and realm’s defenses will be key in ensurin that they can make it through, as well as recover a few treasures beyond just the sword.” Narris joked, giving Felice a smirk as her ears perked up at the mention of the request. She was admittedly kind of curious as to what the Deva would want, but remained silent as she nodded. Felice nodded, all the while cracking a rare smile, “Sounds like it will be fun, as well as provide me with a perfect opportunity to teach that little raccoon a valuable lesson. Her majesty knows I have been longing for a chance to knock her down a peg. That said, I am willing to assist….provided you don’t mind me asking to learn a few techniques from Lady Shieldmaiden and Iceheart in exchange.”

Narris chuckled, knowing full well that the deva had become a rather devoted fan of the goddess of affection. She gave Felice a sly smile as she nodded, “Those be soundin like reasonable terms to me, Felice. It be good to be havin yer help here…..With you and the rest of the crew, we should be havin no trouble at all.”

------------

Glacia arrived in the Dragon Paradise, the realm of Brasa the Dragon Queen, as Narris was heading to Del Riata. Getting an ally from this world would be an incredible boon, as Brasa was Ivrea’s mother, and the trickster was still heavily tied to this realm. However, she had dismissed Brasa herself as an option; she was too caring for her family to be able to do what was needed to teach her a lesson. However, the elven goddess herself had family too here, one that had a unique advantage over any other potential recruit: she helped design Cohlane itself. Making her way around the busy streets of the land of dragons, she arrived at the laboratory of her aunt.

Upon the first step of Glacia, or well hover, across the doorway, Catherine halted her latest creation of a few magical capes to turn around in surprise. She snapped her finger for her fey dragon familiar to continue its work as she offered a hug for Glacia. “Oh splendid goddess of affection, and one who embraces the true way for freedom and exhibitionation! I welcome you.” She then leaned forward!

Glacia happily gave her aunt a hug, “Hiya, Catherine! I hope I’m not interrupting anything important, am I?”

“Nah! You’re far more important here!” Catherine patted Glacia. “Besides, it’s a simple cape I am working on. Too easy to make.”

Glacia giggled, “It’s totally your style, Auntie! So everything’s going well I hope? Brasa hasn’t been making you too busy, has she? I know she’s the type to try and get you and the others to try and do her work for her…”

“Nah! Aoife’s side of Brasa allowed me to loosen up for personal projects. That said, she, Blanca, and I did some new modification between the portal network for an icy demiplane for a new form called Weiss. So I'll have some free time after that!” Catherine chuckled.

“Oh really now?” Glacia had to consider how to bring this up. “What about Ivrea? Has she caused any problems recently?”

“Ivrea? Beyond her usual prying on my whole security system with the fox…” Catherine then paused as she began to think. “Oh! That’s right… Right.” She scoffed. “She took one of my Bracers of Armor and forgot to return it! She likes to ‘borrow’ it for a whole mission in the beyond but never return it.”

“Yeah, sounds like her alright,” Glacia sighed. “Recently she stole a special sword from a friend of mine, too… and we’ve all decided we’ve had enough of this. If she’s gonna keep ‘borrowing’ things, I think it’s time she learned a lesson from us. What do you say, Auntie, wanna join us for a little heist in the fox’s den?”

“Hmmm… A little test on my former student I see? You’re aware that if we fail, then Brasa will pass tough love to both of us. Not too severe, but….” Catherine thought for a second. “Potentially sure! So, we’re going to grab our belongings back right? Nothing too mean spirited such as robbing Ivrea’s own items and money away. The one she truly earned to be clear.”

“As far as I know, yes,” Glacia said, crossing her arms; she wasn’t quite sure Vlad’s intentions there, to be honest. “She needs to knock it off with stealing from people who are supposed to be her allies, and maybe this’ll help her there. Besides, you helped design the realm, so you’ll know more about it than anyone else we can ask.”

“As in its whole reality.” Catherine grinned. “That said: I am its architect. The Divine Morphic nature entails that Brasa and her associated deities can change to construct whole fabrics of this place at a whim. Same with Ivrea herself on the pocket of her den. That said: spells, the rule of Brasa, and a little spark from my blessed gift can overrule it.”

“Great, that’s just what we’ll need; no cheating on her end,” Glacia giggled, “She won’t get the drop on us for this. So we’ve got some time before the big gala to plan all this; if you’re not too busy, we can spend some time working together on a plan to make sure that lil’thief pays!”

“This little cape is too easy to create. It’s mostly a small gift for a student.” Catherine replied. “Now cuddlebug, you've got my full attention, so we’ll make sure we do it right.”

—----------

As Narris, still disguised, stepped into an empty alley in Dal Riata, perhaps leaving or heading to gather intel in a bar, there was a cough behind here, where previously there had been no one. A human seemed to be standing there, his features so unremarkable as to be almost forgotten while still looking at him, and held out a hand. “Hey miss, you’re pretty pregnant. I wouldn’t go in that bar if I were you.”

“I not be going into drink, lad….just be visiting an old friend.” Narris said, looking over her shoulder at the human. Her golden eyes scrutinized him as she turned to face him, “That said, I suppose ye have a point in that I don’t belong there in this state…”

“Mmm, good lady, I doubt the father would appreciate it, anyways,” the human gave a small smile, leaning against a wall, fishing for something in his pocket. “Especially after not even knowing he had a kid for so long, huh?”

“I suppose….Wait…” Narris’s eyes narrowed as she listened to the man, seemingly unsure of him, “How do ye know about that….”

He pulled a carton of cigarettes and a lighter out of his pocket, popping one into his mouth and lighting it. “Ah, I’d offer, but… pregnant, yeah?” he slipped them back into his pocket. “I’ve been trying to quite these things damn near since I started, but that first hit is so relieving.”

Narris sighed, waving aside the smoke as she leaned against the wall. She kept an eye on the human as she spoke, “Perhaps another time, but that be beside the point….How did ye know when I wasn’t showin? More importantly, who be ye and what do ye want?”

He puffed out some smoke, but he at least blew it away from her. “Ah, well, I know a lot of things I shouldn’t. I’m kind of offended you don’t recognize me, Narris, but I suppose it has been a long, long time, hasn’t it?” He took another drag, blowing the smoke out like a stream of fire. “And I’m no dragon, just another face in the crowd to most.”

Her eyes widened as it dawned on Narris who the man was, “Really, Pen? Could ye not just skip the games and greet me like the old friend ye be? Still… I suppose it be good to see ye….even if I be curious as to why ye be here….”

“Oh come on, Narris,” Pengon replied, sighing as he seemed to almost tear away his face, revealing a half-elf with almost unnaturally green eyes. “Let me have some fun. I used to infiltrate enemy bases in disguise and steal their most valuable secrets. Now I have to make a thousand excuses and fake plans to get down to Dal Riata for two hours to find out why the fuck I’m hearing about a sword that drives its weilder insane being in the idiot fox goddesses possession.”

Narris smirked as the sylph faded, revealing the elf in her natural form. Her blue eyes stared over his form as she spoke, “Well that be the price ye pay for yer promotion, Pen. Which congrats on btw…..Now that bein said, aye…..It be turnin out that a certain sister of yer boss stole a highly cursed sword from my master. We and a few friends be aimin to get it back before she causes any trouble with it.”

“I don’t have a boss,” Pengon scowled. “Eyvel might be the public face, but by now she knows better than that. Either way, I don’t want that idiot with an artifact like that. And I don’t trust your new friends to do it right.”

“Whatever ye have tell yerself, Pen.” Narris joked, chuckling a bit as she listened, “Well I’d like to think at least some of us be capable thieves, but….we ain’t goin to be turn down help if ye be willing to aid us. Knowin ye, I assume ye already have a plan and intel put together, right?”

“Obviously,” Pengon said, tossing Narris a flashdrive. “Make every member of your team read this, then destroy it. It’s an exact itinerary of the expected party plan. Wasn’t able to get a complete security overview yet… how long do I have?”

Narris caught the drive, stuffing it into her pack, “Good to see ye still be on top of yer game, Pen. But aye….I will be sure to do that when we be gatherin next. As for that, ye have about two weeks before the mission….so ye should still have some time.”

“That’s not going to be enough… well, you know damn well my aid is a package deal, right?” Pengon said, putting out his cigarette against the wall.

“Oh Glacia’s rack…..you’ve got to be kiddin me. Ye seriously aren’t thinkin of bring her along are ye? I mean….” Narris said, sighing as she kicked the wall with her heel, “Look I like er and all, but ye gotta admit she might not be the best fit for this mission…”

“And an eight and a half months pregnant woman is?” Pengon pointed out, then sighed. “Listen, I know she might not be the best suited for a lot of things I do, but she’s my bodyguard, too. And, even more than that… there was a time I was a real asshole to her, and I’ve sworn to never do it again. So we’re a package deal, and we’ll both be there even if you don’t like it, because I want to be. And we’ll both be useful.”

“I can still be useful even bein as pregnant as I am, damn it.” Narris growled, her eyes flashing red for a moment. She sighed, shaking her head, “Fine…..I suppose ye make a fair enough point, Pen. Though i have me doubts, if ye vouch for her….Then we be allowin her to join us.”

“Not like you had a choice,” Pengon smirked. “We would’ve shown up anyways. Two weeks, huh?... I might be able to hijack their security stations by then, but no promises. Is there a meeting pre-op, or are we going in hot?”

“You can say that again….Still not like I regret it.” Narris muttered under her breath, “Just do what ye can and we’ll handle the rest once the op starts. And aye, we be havin a meetin before the mission.”

“Trinity realm, right?” Pengon asked, pushing himself off the wall. “Not entirely sure I can get into that one without an invitation. In fact, probably can’t, unless one of them decides they like Mitako… you know what, I’m going to send Mitako back with you, if she’s willing. In two weeks her and that Glacia woman should be best friends, if I’ve got her pegged right.”

“Aye, we’ll be meetin at Glacia’s manor….and I wouldn’t be worryin about. If we know Mittie, she should have no problem winnin Glacia’s friendship.” Narris said, laughing lightly as she gaven Pengon a nod.

"Right. You'll know by this evening if she's coming to Silverdale or not, I think," Pengon nodded back. "See you in about two weeks, then. If you've got any requests, use Sending, not electronics."

After weeks of meticulous planning and preparation on the part of the heist team, the date for the party had at last arrived. The team had split into two groups, with one set to attend the party as a distraction while the other would take the task of infiltrating Ivrea’s vaults. The distraction team, consisting of Glacia, Narris, Lyclyn, and Catherine had arrived at Ivrea’s grand estate a short time before the party had begun. The quartet quickly made their way through the exquisite gardens, paying little heed as they passed the vast array of multi hued trees and exotic flowers from all manner of worlds. Statues of Ivrea, Yoko, and various other kitsune seemed to keep watch on them as they made their way to the main house of the estate.

The main manor of the estate was built in an eastern style featuring a grand marble staircase that led up to a six storey home made of fine white wood. They could see numerous paper lanterns and wisps flitting over the guests, all the while their lights were reflected in a large koi ponds on either side of the staircase. As they neared the door they were halted by a stern faced kitsune with finely trimmed hair, all the while his four golden tails waved behind him. His piercing green eyes scrutinized them for a moment before his lips formed into a small, "Ah, Lady Invernos and Lady Fleischer, we have been expecting you. Her eminence is most excited to welcome you to her home. Yet before I allow you in, I trust you and your guests have your invitations?"

Glacia for her own part was wearing a dark blue dress with a snowflake pattern, giving a big smile to the kitsune, “Hiya!” She showed a silver scroll with Ivrea’s seal placed on it, “You’re looking for this, right?”

Catherine waltzed behind Glacia in a grand scarlett red dress that sparkled from the rays of light. “We haven’t forgotten it at home.” Catherine grinned as she showed her seal.

Narris wore a silver dress with a golden band around her midriff, with both shimmering in the light. She smiled as she presented another invitation, "Here ye be, me good man."

The kitsune butler nodded as he gestured in, the door opening to reveal an expansive parlor with golden floors. The party could see all manner of displays being exhibited, ranging from weapons, to scrolls and books, armors, and even large golems. Guests of all types, from draconals, azatas, and even several deities from the various mystrian pantheons milled about as they mingled and observed the displays. The butler nodded as he stepped aside, "Enjoy the party, ladies. Oh and a word of warning, you are more than welcome to observe …but do not take anything as the penalties for it are steep."

Narris nodded, giving a light chuckle as she took Glacia's arm, "We'll be on our best behavior, ye have our word. Now come on, let's see what there be to see….shall we?"

“Oh, of course!” Glacia giggled, offering her other arm to Lyclyn. “C’mon now, let’s have a lil’look, shall we?”

Catherine chuckled and grinned as she studied the many items in the gallery. The first was a mug with golden markings and depictions of Elysium. “Dah, the Drunkard Azatas. A little fun summons one to call in a whole party of Azatas to fight for you.” She then looked at a golden bracers with craving of herself, and a fire opal in the middle. “I remember this one. One of my masterpieces that I made Blake bleed his nose out.” She giggled. “So sweeties, have you seen anything else special?”

Catherine then pointed at an alien-ish silver-tinted crypothrower machine. “Oh, and there is the Frostmaker of Chione. An ice pillar created from it can survive for a day in a hot desert.”

Narris’s eye were drawn towards a platinum case containing seven pearls, whose polished exteriors shimmered in the light. A wide smile grew across her face as she drew closer, “Looks like she’s put together most of the Tempest Pearls as well. Either she plucked em off the Sarkesh lords or raided the Anchorage museums for em. Honestly, given each be a fragment of Lady Besmara’s power…I’d rather not see her get the full set.””

As they were looking around, they could hear a voice in their heads, Have you made it inside? The voice of Nialis, still shaky but able to keep ahold of all of them, said in their heads.

Don’t worry, that was the easy part, a voice came from Glacia, but sounded more masculine internally; as the elf looked over the items, her eyes turned gold as she front, “... I know this one,” Skathi said as he looked over at a golden shield, “That’s the Aegis of Sandalphon, one of the strongest shields in the world; I would think only Shieldy’s bigger one compares to it. That should belong to the Goldenhearts…”

“Aye, Nia….we’ve made it inside the party. We just be doing a bit of recon before we get started.” Narris thought as she looked to the golden shield, but was cut off by a familiar feminine voice before she could speak.

“One could make the argument that it is in the possession of a Goldenheart, but I am willing to wager you are referring to the main family, no?” said Aoife as she approached the party, her blue and white gown seeming to flutter slightly as she walked. Her violet lips formed into a smile as she waved, “It’s good to see you all, I had been wondering whether you all would actually show up given the purpose of the gala. Honestly, I do not know whether we should be impressed by her collection or disgusted by her gall in having the temerity to show off her ill gotten gains to their rightful owners. Probably a little of both would be appropriate, wouldn’t you agree, Rosa?”

A woman in a dangerously short white and pink dress turned on hearing her name, her long pink hair bouncing, beaming at the party. “Oh, hello, I’m Rosa! Sorry milady, what did you ask? I was looking to see if there were any interesting swords to examine!”

‘Skathi’ actually seemed at a loss for words for once, “Um… Aoife, who is this?”

“C’mon, now, Aoife,” her twin sister was on the opposite side, Shana wearing a short red dress, her arm around a pink-haired foxkin, “You know Ivrea, I’d bet some of these aren’t even the real deal. Some of it’s just a trap for would-be thieves, no doubt.”

“Oh I know that well enough, Shana. That said, I am also well aware that my daughter cannot resist showing off some of the genuine articles.”: Aoife giggled as she gestured to Rosa, “Well Dad, this is Rosa. She is….” the aasimar seemed to hesitate for a moment, but soon carried on, “She is an azata who came into my service a few years ago when I was conducting some research in Elysium. I suppose you could say she is more or less a mix of my assistant and occasional minder.”

“Permanent minder,” Rosa corrected with a smile. “Nice to meet you all! Occasionally Aoife gets away from me, so I apologize for any chaos she brings. Hopefully she hasn’t accidentally destroyed any houses with dangerous magical experiments yet?”

“That’s only a little experimental zone Aoife designed for such destruction.” Catherine laughed. “But nice to meet you Rosa. I imagine that Aoife is the woman you want to stick around. That said.. You can always visit my laboratory, and see the beauties I create.”

Rosa giggled softly. “This might surprise you, but I prefer to hits things with swords over doing magic! But I’m sure you have some lovely things to hit with a sword, so I’ll be sure to come if Aoife ever drops by!”

“Oh, you want to hear about times Aoife blew up someone’s home?” Shana said, “Well, get this; one time Sunny and I,” she patted her partner’s hand, “Were going to one of grandma’s vacation homes by the beach, and it turns out that someone was using it as a laboratory for alchemical experiments! And sensitive to light, so when I used my powers to light up the area… let’s just say we were lucky to have just minor burns!”

“Guh…” Skathi had been looking at Rosa for some time… no, it couldn’t be, could it? Closing his eyes, Glacia’s gray eyes appeared when they opened it, “Well, next time perhaps Aoife should leave a warning,” she giggled.

“Hrm? Is everything alright, Dad?” Aoife remarked, giving Glacia a curious look before rolling her eyes at Shana’s comments, “Oi! It was one time, sis. And for the record, that particular formula wouldn’t have been so volatile if a certain ninja hadn’t been messing with my ingredients. There is a reason I told you not to go rummaging through my alchemical supplies.”

“I think it be more than once, Aoife. I mean it may not have been blowing up a house….but I’d say that little experiment of yer’s on me mark comes close. Granted, I think ye learned yer lesson real quick with that one.” Narris chuckled as she gave the aasimar a playful nudge, all the while Aoife just sighed.

Rosa had apparently stopped listening, looking at something on the far wall, a large, curved black blade contained within a sturdy looking and clearly enchanted case, which she was soon wandering over towards, pulling Aoife with her. “Milady, this is a very unique looking sword. Do you know where it’s from? I wonder if I could borrow it if it’s the real deal.”

Okay, I have to ask, Nialis’s voice came in, seemingly still able to talk to Skathi in spite of him seemingly giving control of the body back to Glacia, what is the problem? Do you know that celestial?

What are you- Skathi was taken aback, he didn’t recall seeing anyone capable of speaking to him like this. ... alright, fine, you want to know? Rosa… reminds me a lot of my old squire and son-in-law. And given what I know… after what Solis, ‘Glacia’ took a glance at ‘Sunny’, Shana’s date, she ended up doing with my sister, I am wondering if perhaps something similar happened here… I will have to have a talk with her later if this is the case…

“If I recall….” Aoife said, leaning in as she examined the sword. Even with the enchantments and the thick glass separating her from the blade, she could still feel a faint evil aura coming from it, “Ah! Yes, this was Vlad’s blade that Ivrea absconded with following that little tussle at Mt. Aegir….Right, Narris? At least, it matches you lot’s description of it.”

“Aye, that be Vlad’s blade alright….Fafnir, was what I think he called it. Beautiful blade, but very frakkin cursed from what he said. I don’t remember the full details due to me state at the time, but I do remember hearin that Ivrea suffered quite a nasty hit from it.” Narris remarked as she looked over the blade.

"Cursed? I bet it'll be fine," Rosa grinned. "I'm pretty resistant to curses, aren't I, milady?" She asked, slowly inching her fingers towards the case.

Did she really put it out in the open like that? Nialis chimed in. No, it has to be a decoy or the like, right?

Or she’s a little too confident, Skathi replied, before moving towards Rosa, “I would be careful if I were you. I don’t think our host would appreciate people touching her displays like that.”

“Rosa….You may very well be, but I would avoid…” Aoife fell silent as she saw a silver tailed kitsune in a green set of robes approach them. Her nine tails waved behind her, all the while her blue eyes watched them warily, “Your friend is right, milady. Her eminence fully welcomes her guests looking at her treasures to their hearts content, but….you are highly discouraged from touching them. After all, it would not do for one of our honored guests to be escorted out now, would it.” The kitsune gestured to a pair of azatas in white armor with lethal looking short swords that watched Rosa closely.

"Spoilsports," Rosa mumbled, withdrawing her hand and looking at the guards. "Are we allowed to touch the guards?" She asked, wrapping one hand around Aoife's. "They look very touchable."

“Oh they’re just doing their jobs, even if they are a little uptight for azatas.” the kitsune chuckled, giving a smirk at Rosa’s remark, “Still, you are welcome to try. Who knows, you might even get them to a lighten up a bit? Oh…where are my manners…” The kitsune gave a slight bow as she introduced herself, “The name is Annaisha, charmed.”

“Hiya,” It appeared Glacia had taken over once more, Skathi seemingly having receded for the the moment, “They do look quite tough, Rosa. I’m certain Lyclyn here could take them on, but that’s besides the point; seems you take security there very seriously,” she giggled.

“Annaisha? That’s curious? What brought you here?” Catherine asked.

“When one has amassed a collection of such rare artifacts and treasures as her eminence, it is only natural that one zealously guards them. Be it the measures and those you don’t see, we take every precaution necessary to ensure there are no heists here. After all, it would be a stain on Lady Ivrea’s reputation if a thief was able to steal that which she has worked so hard to procure.”Well if you must know, I am overseeing the evening for Lady Ivrea and her wife while they mingle with and entertain their guests. Essentially, it is my job to make sure that our guests are entertained and that the night proceeds without incident.”

"Awe, when will she be coming herself?" Rosa sighed. "I guess I can't ask to borrow that sword then, if she's not even here yet…" She continued, apparently bored of the guards already.

“I believe she is currently speaking with Lady Solis and Amasal a few rooms over, but she should be here soon enough. As for the sword, I suppose I could speak with her about arranging a private viewing for you later….but we can’t allow you to borrow that sword I'm afraid. Particularly not when it’s slated to be archived within the next few months.” Annaisha said, giving Rosa a curious look as if in slight disbelief.

“Ooooh, Amasal’s here?” Glacia said; the drow goddess had been a frequent visitor to her realm over the last year. “Figured she would be, and Solis… I hope she isn’t missing Niviea while she’s on her lil’trip to Rohane Alista. That said, if the sword’s so dangerous, are you sure it should even be on display like that?”

"Archive? Like you're just gonna lock it up somewhere?" Rosa asked in disbelief. "Why?"

“Rohane Alista.” Catherine shook her head. “That land is a terrible place. No magic, and all mundane limitations. Honestly I should tell Niviea to stop wasting her time there and achieve something far greater… But that’s my voice on the matter. Regardless, what kind of dangerous component does this sword hold? If you have any knowledge of it.”

“The sword gives whoever apart from Vlad that holds it horrific visions of those they love dying, with the deaths growing more grotesque over time. All in all, it not be a fun time. That not even be mentioning that it consumes magic either…”” Narris said, shaking her head.

“Yes, it will be placed in a secure vault accessible only to Lady Ivrea and her most trusted servants. Well, given its cursed nature…and the threat posed by its former owner, my mistresses decided it was too much of a danger to keep in anything but secure storage, With it there, they do not have to worry about it harming someone or some foolish thief getting ahold of it.” Annaisha remarked, giving Rosa and Glacia reassuring smiles. “You needn’t worry about it being on display for tonight. I assure you, we have taken the utmost precautions to ensure it will cause no harm to you or the other guests.”

“Ah. A cursive blade. Not something I’d want to swing around while my dear Mythra die a lot. Plus you girls too! Also hell no! I love magic.” Catherine said.

“We know, Auntie,” Glacia sighed, “Though if you ask me, you’re better off balancing your magic with a good blade… but let me tell you, I’ve had my fair share of cursed weapons. You do not want to mess with them unless you like having your soul bound to a spirit.”

"Former owner?" Rosa asked, eyes sparkling. "Dangerous how? Was it a hot guy? I love a dangerous man…"

“He was some crazed great wyrm from what I hear, but I’m not certain of the details. Lady Ivrea was rather….reluctant to describe him beyond a brief overview of her ordeal with him.” Annaisha said, sighing as Aoife rolled her eyes at Rosa’s comments. The aasimar sighed as she patted Rosa’s shoulder, “Rosa, darling….I wouldn’t bother going after him if I were you…”

Narris’s eyes narrowed at the celestial, all the while she scowled, “He be hot yes, but let’s just say that ye be better off leavin him be given he already be committed.”

“Besides,” Glacia remarked, “If you wanna meet a hot guy, Rosa, I know this other dragon man who’s the hottest guy around, he’s practically fire!”

"Now that does sound interesting…" Rosa replied. "Too bad the other one is taken, they sound like a fun combo," She sighed. "But really, you think the proper owner would bust down a goddesses door just to get this sword?"

“I doubt the former owner of the weapon is so daft as to raid the home of a goddess, let alone during a party attended by much of the Pantheon.” Annaisha said, smiling as she saw a dark skinned kitsune with nine black tails approaching. The kitsune wore a flowing red kimono with a gold and silver floral pattern, all the while the platinum decorations in her glinted in the room’s light. Her golden eyes lingered on Glacia and Narris, all the while her lips formed into a smile, “That’s to say nothing of the fact that he would be at a severe disadvantage in my home. Between the security, traps, and the realm bending to my will….he would have little chance here. At any rate, my apologies for not joining you all sooner, but Solis and I had a few matters to discuss.” the kitsune moved to embrace Glacia, Catherine, and Narris, as she spoke, “I am glad you three made it to my little Gala. Honestly, I had been wondering if you would end up showing given all you’ve had going on over the past few months….And that’s to say nothing of your upcoming little blessing, Nari.”

“You said it, Lady Ivrea. Surely no one is that foolish.” Annaisha chuckled

Glacia gladly gave Ivrea a hug, “Oh, do you really think after everything we’ve been through together I’d miss this? We went to space together, met a dragon on Titan, and went to the actual Hell together! After all that, a lil’gala sounded rather nice to me.”

Catherine joined in on the hug. “Well you’ve displayed quite the foxes charm Ivrea. Tamed a bit of a little infamous troublemaker, and now you’re here! I hope you’ve continued your studies since that grand adventure of yours.”

"Treasures to view, mingling with other deities, and all the finest food and drink you could ask for? I'd certainly say that beats going on endless missions. And aww thanks…Honestly, I am glad you came. Having a few friends here definitely makes me feel more at ease, especially with a certain mama fox here." Ivrea joked, gesturing towards Solis who was engaged in a conversation with a visibly annoyed Yoko. At Catherine's comments, Ivrea giggled, "Well I kind of have to now, Aunt Cathy, especially given that I have a city and a growing following to run. It wouldn't do for someone of my standing to go around causing visible mischief like I did in the past. Doesn't mean I still engage in my old pastimes from time to time…."

"Oh she has been doing rather well with her studies, Lady Catherine. Between her own research and Aoife's instruction, she has learned quite a lot over the past few months." Annaisha remarked.

“Oh hey, it’s Solis!” Shana waved. “Sunny, we gotta say hi to her,” she tugged her girlfriend’s arm, the foxkin having a strong resemblance to the goddess.

“So instead you cause mischief, just not visibly, right?” Glacia giggled. “Hey, I get it, just because I’m a mom now myself and have a huge following doesn’t mean I’ve stopped doing what I love.”

“Aoife gets into a lot of mischief too, maybe that’s where it comes from?” Rosa sighed. “Always running off without me and causing problems for people, aren’t you, dear?”

"From time to time, love. Though if I recall, you are quite the troublemaker yourself. I'd say I have to pull you out of the fire at least what? Twice a week?" Aoife joked as she gave Rosa a wink.

“A city building as in a hands off ‘patronage’ duties?” Catherine teased. “But I am glad you’ve done enough studies.”

Rosa pouted. "It's not my fault so many bad guys out there need to get hit with a sword!"

“Oh, I can relate to that,” Glacia winked, “Loads of baddies around. Oooh, wanna see a fun trick? Hey, Ivi, try stealing my sword!”

"You're still my favorite celestial even in spite of causing a bit of trouble." Aoife said, giving Rosa a quick kiss as she giggled

"A bit of that and sponsoring a magic academy for my petitioners, mortals, and various celestials." Ivrea joked, her lips forming into a wicked smirk as she disappeared from view, all the while Glacia could feel a faint touch on her hip as her blade moved slightly.

“Oh nooo, where did she go?” Glacia gasped. “I hope she isn’t sneaking around…”

"Try right behind you." Ivrea said, giving Glacia a nudge

"So that's how she got the sword off the hot and dangerous guy!" Rosa nodded, leaning into Aoife. "Don't try and steal my swords, though, I'll tell your mother."

“Oh no!” Glacia looked shocked as she looked at Ivrea holding her sword, “You’re simply too good, Ivi! I suppose I’ll never get it back now, huh? Aw, shucks,” she snapped her fingers, and the blade teleported out of Ivrea’s hands and back into Glacia’s. “Oopsie! Guess it’s a fickle thing, not deciding where it’ll be. Good try though!”

"Not a bad trick, Glacia. I suppose I will just have to give up my thieving ways and retire." Ivrea joked, winking as she whispered to Annaisha, "Make note of that little spell, will you Anna?*

"Oh don't worry, Rosa. Little Ivi knows better than to steal from her mother or her celestials." Aoife joked,

"She better," Rosa huffed. "I wish I was better at magic, though, a teleporting sword would be so useful for when I have to chase milady down. I wish she would stop going on adventures without me."

“I can teach you the trick someday, Rosa,” Glacia said, putting away her blade, “It’s a bit tricky to learn it… but c’mon, Aoife, if she’s your favorite celestial, why don’t you go on adventures with her? I’ve gone on them with mine and also my most loyal followers,” she said, patting Lyclyn’s hand.

“Surely, I can see Rosa as a fine companion. If quite rosy from a glance.” Lyclyn winked.

"Alright, alright….I can start bringing you on more adventures, so long as you promise to behave, Rosie. That means no charging head long into the enemy when we can hit them at range." Aoife said grinning, "And if you'd like I will even teach you a few of my spells that would suit ye."

"Aye, she seems to be a fine companion indeed. If she be anything like ye, Lyclyn…she would be most useful on an adventure." Narris chuckled out

"I will not stand behind while you pelt things with spells," Rosa rolled her eyes. "I belong on the frontline! You know, where I can use my sword… maybe I should get a mount, that would help…"

“Actually, I agree with Rosie here,” Glacia said. “There is a lot of merit for a ranged fighter and one in melee acting in tandem with each other…” she felt her head for a moment; why did she get the feeling Skathi was yelling within? “Ah, sorry… but Aoife, it’s good to play to one’s strengths in battle. I agree that sometimes a ranged assault can be better, so maybe you can also try using a ranged weapon when that’s more useful, Rosa.”

"I am not asking you to stand behind me, Rosa. Quite the contrary actually. My point was not that your approach to combat doesn't have value, but rather you need to be smart about when you choose to rush in." Aoife remarked, her smile dampening a bit, "And perhaps….I suppose I could always acquire a eidolon mount for you soon enough….but yes, Glacia does have a point…an excellent one of I say so myself."

Narris for her part remained silent, raising an eyebrow at Glacia's holding her head. She whispered, "Are ye alright, Glaci?"

"Bah, you are both wrong. Most of the time it is best to hit the enemy and defeat them without them ever detecting you." Ivrea opined

"A ranged weapon?" Rosa replied, getting a look of concentration. "I don't know why, but I feel as if maybe I do need to acquire a bow…"

Glacia’s eyes shone gold again, “... Aoife. When did you acquire the services of this celestial?”

"I told you already, dad. Rosa came into my service about fifteen years ago." Aoife remarked

“... and how did this happen?” Glacia’s voice had changed tone considerably as Skathi spoke.

"She…well she had been a…longtime companion of mine in life who couldn't bear to be apart from me in death. So…I made her into a celestial of mine to prevent her fears from coming true " Aoife said coldly, her golden eyes staring back into Glacia's own.

“...” Glacia folded her arms and frowned, Skathi having to pause for a moment. “... sometime after this gala, I am going to Brasa’s realm. And we will have a talk about this, Aoife. I will not interrupt these festivities, but you will listen to what I have to say. Do I make myself clear?”

"Yes…dad." Aoife muttered, sighing as she nodded in agreement

"Uh… hi? I'm right here," Rosa interjected. "Wait, Aoife, you created me? I don't remember that at all!"

"Rosa…This isn't the place to discuss this. Once the gala is over, I will tell you whatever you want to know." Aoife said, a pained look on her face, "And…yes…I did…"

"... later then, Aoife," Rosa said, sighing and squeezing her hand. "Anyways, this is a party! And I came here in a nice dress, you're not going to let me get bored, are you?"

"Of course not, darling. Let's go have some fun, shall we?" Aoife said, squeezing Rosa's hand in turn, "We'll see you all a bit later on…It was…honestly good to see you all."

“Take care, you two!” Glacia’s eyes were grey once more, it appeared Skathi had receded after his ultimatum to Aoife. “Have a lot of fun at the party!”

"We will. You all enjoy yourselves, you hear?" Aoife said, leading Rosa off to mingle with a group of kitsune and azatas who were looking over a weapons display

“A little nosy I see.” Catherine commented. “Not sure why Rosa needs that special attention. Deities do elevate the souls in their planes into celestial beings. So it isn’t anything special.”

“Silly Caty, there is something special about Rosa.” Lcyclyn shook her head. “I know Glacia, or Skathi, knows why.”

“Oh, um…” Glacia felt her head, “Well, I don’t know anything about Rosa personally, but I get the feeling Skathi did. He isn’t speaking to me right now, so I don’t know the full details… guess I’ll have to ask later.

Enjoying the party, are we? Nialis chimed in. The other team’s going in now, so be ready just in case.

OOC: Collab with Rohane, Dyste, and Glaristant

Vlad sat in the dingy, dark, run down bar, hood up, feet on the table, an uneaten dish of chicken in front of him, and checked his watch. Ten minutes to entry, and no one else was here yet. That was starting to get a tad worrisome, especially given the shitty state of the location, he started to worry that maybe someone had been waylaid by a mugger when the door opened, and two figures entered.

One was, arguably, the most nondescript elf to ever exist, somehow. He had dirty blonde hair at shoulder length, almond shaped and colored eyes, and no other features anyone would remember five minutes after he left. He sat down at a table behind Vlad, ordering a simple ale as he spoke softly. “They’ll arrive soon.”

“Oooh, so this is Scar Guy, huh Pen?” the other person said as they literally rolled in; they were a squirrelkin with short brown hair, a bushy tail and wearing an orange suit. “I didn’t expect us to be this early, I guess we expected to be distracted a lot!”

"I like to plan ahead," Pengon replied with a small smile. "You do tend to get ideas to test yourself, Mitako, I account for them."

"It is preferable to be earlier rather than late, Lady Mitako. Allows one to account for any unexpected occurrences" a silver tailed kitsune in a red dress said as she sat down, "Honestly…was it necessary to choose such a low tier establishment for our meeting?"

The door opened for the icy fox goddess to waltz in and gave a cold look at the trashy place. She let her tail high as she moved up to where the table was at and sat down. “You could’ve chosen a five star restaurant, you know.” She retorted. “I happen to have the money to pay for it.”

“Hiya, I’m Mitako! … oh no, Pen, there are two Fluffy Tails here! … well, um, one of you is Blue Tails and the other is Silver Tails, there we go!” the Squirrelkin seemed proud of herself.

Pengon sighed slightly. "Yes, Mitako, there are two of them. Let's just try and keep them distinct during the job, ok?"

Vlad, meanwhile, rolled his eyes at the foxes and speaking in a low tone. "If we met in a five star restaurant, everyone in the damn plane would know our every move. Personally, it's preferable to me that they don't, seeing as we're here to steal."

"You do realize meeting in a dingy bar is likely to be just as dangerous, right? Remember she does tend to attract the loyalty of those who favor places like this…." Felice said, with a sigh as she rolled her eyes, "That said….let's not waste our time on petty disputes. We do have a job to prepare for after all."

“Right,” They were joined by Alvis, who wore a simple brown cloak over his usual attire, “Sorry, I had to take a detour after it seemed someone was tailing me…”

"Did you lose them?" Pengon asked.

“I think so,” Alvis said, “Seems even when disguised I tend to attract a certain kind of attention…”

“Oooh, is that like how you say I’m a magnet for trouble, Pen?” Mitako asked.

“Oh please. A low life scum and snotty rich men aren’t the type to report to a literal goddess. “ Yuki said. “That being said: I have prepared a special bag. A bag of holding per say that’s aura is hidden to be a small marble pouch. It should keep those with detect magic to not discover it or overlook it. Alongside a… Ahem a special case to put the sword inside without holding it around.”

"I wish I could say you were correct, but you should see some the followers she's brought into the palace." Felice said, shaking her head, "At any rate, that should come in handy once we reach the portion of the vaults the sword is being held in. Speaking of…I managed to procure some plans for the vaults from a friend of mine on the staff. From what I can glean, it seems like she is keeping the sword itself in the deepest portion of the vaults…near her most treasured valuables."

"Well, I brought the scabbard," Vlad showed off a black scabbard, surprisingly large. "This will suppress both the aura and its effects. You didn't think I walked around with that thing out in the open all this time did you?"

"It figures it's deep in. At least she isn't using it as a display piece," Pengon joked. "How are we actually getting inside the vaults in the first place, anyways?"

Felice summoned a small projector to her hand, with an etheral image of Ivrea's manor appearing. The image soon zoomed into a show a network of expansive corridors beneath the palace, connected to the upper levels via a few shafts. Gesturing to one of the shafts, she spoke, "We can access the vaults through a network of transit and maintenance corridors beneath Ivrea's manor. From what I have seen, her staff use them to transport display pieces, archival material, etc to and from her the vaults as needed. Bearing that it is highly likely there is an access point to the vaults in those corridors. Plus given several of the items she has on Friday are scheduled to be archived tonight….We can likely sneak in with one of the work crews during the transfer."

“Aww, why can’t I just go in and beat everyone up, Silver Tails?” Mitako pouted. “I’m sure between me and Strong Elf over there, we could totally do it!”

“... wait, is that referring to-” Alvis sighed, “No, the whole point is to avoid drawing attention to ourselves. That’s only a last resort for us.”

“How strict are these access points? Any identification process by any chance on their work crews?” Yuki asked.

"The access points are fairly strict given what's stored in the vaults. She's got everything from biometric to aural scanners designed to verify the work crews have proper clearance. That…is why I took the liberty of having these created" Felice said as she produced a handful of cards emblazoned with Ivrea's sigil as well as a few platinum rings, "The cards are encoded with the biometric data of a few staff who are indisposed, while the rings will allow you to take on their appearance and aura. It should be enough to get us past the access point."

"Or you can just let me handle it," Pengon rolled his eyes. "There isn't a scanner in existence I can't fool. I guess double insurance is fine, though."

“Ooooh, yeah, Pen’s the best at that!” Mitako said. “He once managed to trick one into thinking I was a kitty instead of a squirrel! You’ll see, he could probably make Strong Elf look like a Drakky Newt or Silver Tails into a Tailbold!”

"Or Scar Guy into an upstanding citizen," Pengon snarked while Vlad rolled his eyes.

“Right…” Yuki shook her head. “Once we passed through the access points and into the vaults, are there any other noticeable security measures we need to know? As in any construct entities like golems, robots, and such?”

"Yes, she will likely have a number of androids and golems patrolling the place. In addition, it is likely we will encounter all manner of traps within…probably a mix of conventional and some rather nasty hexed ones as well. That said, we may be able to avoid the latter if we do not blow our cover. From what I understand, the traps are likely going to be disabled for a short time due to the transfer tonight."

"How long?" Vlad asked, glancing over. "Five minutes? An hour?"

"Ninety minutes, after which the security systems will be fully armed." Felice remarked

"Ninety minutes, that's absurd," Pengon replied. "This job is sounding like the easiest I've ever done, what's the catch?"

“You know, the moment you say any of those words it just gets harder?” Alvis sighed.

“Ivrea isn’t sloppy that is for sure. Unless she stole the androids and golems as well.” Yuki chuckled. “Regardless, that’s where my speed will come in to move past the guards and use a few spells to distract them.”

"If we can disable the golems safely, let's do so," Vlad said. "Hate those things, too mindless."

“Oooh, I can do that!” Mitako said, waving her arms. “I know juuuuuuuust the right places to hit to make ‘em stop moving.”

"The catch is that she has likely booby trapped the displays and artifacts in the vaults, either with various curses or additional detection measures. That is why we will need to exercise caution when recovering the artifacts from the vaults. As you set one of those off, it will rearm the entire systems…traps, golems, and all."

"How are the planar defenses? Can we travel in and out using other planes at any point?" Vlad asked.

"Not within the vaults, no. She's placed special wards and runes in the walls that prevent travel to another plane within the vaults. Actually, any such attempt would likely just trigger the security or alert the guards." Felice said, shaking her head..

“The more security I hear about,” Alvis said, “The more I’m looking forward to breaking through it and taking more of what’s inside.” He seemed to be feeling a bit more aggressive, maybe that ‘gift’ the void gave him was acting out?

"Me too," Vlad nodded. "It's about time, isn't it? Shouldn't the comms guy have contacted us by now?"

You called? A voice was heard in all of their heads; Nialis was not physically present, but instead he was able to use his powers to communicate with them all. Are you all accounted for there?

I think so, Pengon mentally replied. Any news on the distraction team? Are they still undercover?

Oooh, hiya Dragonboy! Mitako ‘said’, It’s me, Mitako!

I was really hoping you wouldn’t remember that one, Nialis mentally let out a sigh, But yes, Glacia’s team is handling things well on their end. It appears that Ivrea herself is still at the gala.

Anything interesting they've seen? Vlad followed up.

Well, there’s a few artifacts up on display, Nialis replied, ... including what appears to be the sword in question?

She …cannot be that stupid as to keep it out in the open… Felice retorted

Perhaps I am giving her too much credit for the defenses. Or that she overthinks that, while willingly grab the sword on Mt Aegir without any thought behind it.[i] Yuki said.

[i]I saw it too,
Alvis added, And she’s always been really brazen and reckless, she’s even tried to steal from me several times. I’m managed to hold her off, but I dunno how long I could keep that up…

I don't actually remember it, but it's a stupid idea to handle that sword without proper training, Vlad sighed. Let’s check the vaults, and if it's not there, we improvise a new distraction.

I can inform the other team in the case that really is the real deal, Nialis replied, I’m sure they have the skills needed in the case they have to take it.

Sound like a plan then. Even if it is not the vaults, there are still plenty of treasures that could be liberated down there. Felice replied

That’s where the bag of holding comes in. All to store most light and medium weighted objects. Yuki witted.

Good, I think we all want a little payback, Vlad said. Let's go. I'll take point, with Felice and Yuki, he concluded, standing and exiting the bar.

Ooh, so I guess this means we’ll be working with Strong Elf, Pen, Mitako said, Let’s show them all what you can do, and I’ll beat up anyone who tries to mess with you!

As always, Mitty, Pengon replied. Together we can't be stopped.

Yes, let's teach that little hooligan a lesson she shan't soon forget Felice remarked, following after Vlad

Then let us proceed. We don’t have time to spare. Yuki said.

Geez, Ivrea really messed with the wrong dragon this time, didn’t she? Alvis said. It had to come to bite her in the tail eventually, I guess.

It's not like she wasn't warned about such behavior countless times….Still I suppose this will be a lesson she learns the hard way. Now come on, we need to hurry. Felice said, as she led the group through the winding corridors of the city towards Ivrea's manor. After what seemed like an eternity of walking they at last reached the side gates of the manor, seeing a group of kitsune guards performing a check on a group of workers. Felice motioned for the group take cover behind a nearby hedge, where in she began to hand out the rings and cards from earlier, "Here, put these on. They will provide you with a temporary disguise that should allow us past the guards."

Pengon rolled his eyes, pulling a medium sized bag from nowhere. "Too obvious to aura sensors. You seriously think you can hide the aura of a god, a demigod, and an ancient dragon with that?" He said, handing everyone a small bracelet. "This will suppress your auras and make them look more like normal people. And while we're at it…" He quickly moved through everyone in the group, taking a look at their ID cards before attacking their faces with a series of brushes and minorly magical implements. "This will complement the ring if they have something that sees through illusions."

“Oooh, I love these!” Mitako had one of the bracelets already, evidently Pengon made sure to give her one beforehand so she didn’t lose it. Putting on the disguise, she appeared more like a black-furred kitsune, “And now I have fluffy tails!”

“You didn’t have a big one before?” Alvis asked, putting on the items himself, resembling a more average-looking elf, but he still seemed to radiate some degree of charisma past his disguise; it seemed some things were impossible to suppress entirely.

Yuki placed the items on herself and transformed into a lesser version of herself as an arctic fox with one single tail. “Nothing too drastic, but this would do.”

Vlad put his on, actually appearing to grow taller as his hair became fully blonde, and his eyes turned brown, a pretty regular human. "... I'm not short," he insisted as he reached the average human height for Mystria.

“... nobody said anything about that,” Alvis retorted.

“Keep the dumb comments to yourself.” Yuki snapped. “We’ve a job to do.”

Felice put on her's, her hair turning black as came to resemble an average elf. Her brown eyes looked over her form, all the while she sighed, "Whatever you have to tell yourself, Vlad. That being said…let's not dally as we are on the clock."

"No need to be rude about it just cause you're down to one tail," Vlad mumbled, while Pengon put on the ring… and didn't change at all, his disguise work already perfect.

"Well, go on then," the half-elf man told the others. "Front group first. Try not to start a fight, this isn't that kind of raid."

"Remember, we are just staff here to assist with the transfer." Felice said, eyeing Vlad and Yuki.

“Right. We just have to blend in and keep the supervisor off our tail.” Yuki said.

Vlad nodded. "And accidentally lose a box or several. Whoops."

Felice shook her head, saying nothing as she led the group towards the gate. As they approached, the group could see a flickering barrier of green light flare up behind the guards, while one of them stepped forward, "Present your cards and state your business for this shift." The guard said, gesturing to a scanner to his left.

Vlad, recognizing the purpose of it, stepped into the scanner, presenting his card and speaking to the guard. "Here to haul shit for Lady Ivrea, of course," he then leaned over and in a soft voice added more. "Please don't shout about how I'm shorter than I look, my girlfriend is right there and I really don't want her to know yet," he tilted his head at Yuki as he smoothly lied.

"Oh so you're one of the poor bastards stuck with the archives crew, eh? Gods, you guys are going to have a long night….what with all that shit she's got up there in the displays. Well good luck…" the guard chuckled as the scanner beeped, all the while a green light flashed. As the guard waved him through, he whispered to Vlad, "For what it's worth, you are a bit on the taller side for a human. Though you are all short compared to us azata."

Yuki’s ears twitched as she tsk in annoyance. “We’ll get the job done regardless.” She then pulled Vlad to get a move on.

"Yes dear," Vlad replied, winking at the guard as he followed Yuki inside.

"My apologies about them. You know how trainees can be." Felice said with a mock sigh as she swiped her card, before stepping through the barrier. The barrier flickered for a few moments as the three struggled to get through, until at last they pierced it. The guard gave the three a sympathetic look as he spoke, "Sorry about that, but had to make sure you weren't some two bit thief wishing to push their luck."

Watching the three of them head through, Pengon nodded to Alvis and Mitako. “Right, us next,” he said, fishing a box of cigarettes out of his pocket and popping one into his mouth, though not lighting it yet as he approached the scanner, quickly swiping his card. “Archive Crew. Hey, any of you got a light? Mine’s been on the damned fritz all fucking week.”

“Here…you can borrow mine.” the guard said, tossing a golden lighter to Pengon, “Just don’t let the chief see ya using that. Ivrea knows she would lost her shit if she caught ya smoking near the manor.”

“Oh come on, she’s busy yucking it up with the rich and fancy,” Pengon rolled his eyes, catching the lighter and pushing through the barrier, lighting his cig as he went, though unnoticed to any but the sharpest eyed, he pressed something against it.. “One quick smoke ain’t gonna kill her. Thanks, by the way,” he continued, tossing the lighter back with a smile.

The guard caught the lighter, waving Pengon through as he returned to his post. He chuckled, “No problem but a word of warning though….Just because she’s busy up there, doesn’t mean she or her servants ain’t still watching ya. Or at least that’s what the chief says….Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me.”

“Ooooh, so it’s like she has eyes everywhere, like those ink wizards!” Mitako said. “It’s spooky!”

“You know those types,” Alvis said, “They’ll say anything to try and keep us behaved. Step one toe outta line and they’ll be on all our asses. Typical.”

“Fine, I’ll put it out,” Pengon grumbled, dropping the cigarette and stomping it out. “Man, I can’t even get my nicotine fix in this job, this is bull…”

“C’mon, you always get this way from this,” Mitako laughed as she scanned her own card, “Sorry, my fiance is always trying to catch a smoke!”

“Had to tell him off each time, too,” Alvis said, scanning his card. “He’s gonna get us all in trouble at this rate.”

"Normally I wouldn't care, but since tonight's the transfer they are going to be watching us even more than usual. You want my advice? Just hold on a few hours and get your fix after your jobs done." the guard looked back towards his watch, waving them on, "Best get moving, you all. We can chat more at the crew party after tonight's shift."

“I shoulda smoked before shift started,” Pengon complained, walking into the building the other three had disappeared into.

After a few minutes of walking, the six arrived in a service corridor where they could see a team of workers carrying polished metal cases. Others pushed both empty and carts full of figurines, books, and scrolls, up and down the corridors. Slipping behind one of the groups of workers, they could see the carts were being deposited in a massive storage room where a handful of azata were inspecting the items. The carefully looked through each cart or pallet, seemingly checking to make sure each item was in its proper place before signaling the workers. They complied pushing the carts towards a titanic set of silver doors ensconced by a flickering white barrier, all the while two polished metallic constructs stood on either side.

Felice gestured for the group to follow her to a towering stack of pallets, with the party kneeling behind them. Pointing towards the door she whispered, “Looks like that is our access point….but seems we are a tad too early though.”

“I didn’t particularly come here to actually work for this bitch, but maybe we can use it as a chance to figure out what else might be worth pocketing?” Vlad asked.

“Harsh words Vlad.” Yuki retorted. The fox goddess knew Ivrea was a friend, so outside of the payback, she preferred not to be THAT mean. “That said: that cart might carry spell books, scrolls, and summon tokens.”

“Not to mention lots of trinkets and artifacts,” Alvis’s eyes shined, “A hoard unworthy of such a thief.”

“We’re not here to steal petty trinkets and spellbooks,” Pengon reminded the team. “We’re here to nab the sword… and other significant things. So unless one of those spellbooks belong to a long dead super wizard, let’s leave them.”

“Aww, you’re no fun, Pen,” Mitako pouted. “We should nab all we can!”

“Those scrolls and spellbooks likely pale in comparison to what awaits in the depths of the vault, Yuki. Think, if she is willing to display rarities such as these, think of what valuable items she isn’t keeping available for the public to see. That is what we should be after.” Felice remarked, nodding in agreement with Pengon, “More importantly however, we need to find out how long we have until the actual transfer starts….or what we need to do to slip into the vault itself if it doesn’t start soon.”

“We should’ve taken the guise of guards or something,” Vlad sighed. “I don’t know how we’ll get the whole group in, the whole ‘can’t find the bathroom’ schtick only works for one person.”

“Thanks for being a smartass.” Yuki huffed. “That said if we need someone in, just try to get a schedule and a watch.”

“We could try and steal the schedule,” Pengon nodded. “I can switch disguises pretty easily.”

“I wasn’t being a smartass, smartass,” Vlad replied to Yuki.

“Alternatively, we could see about manipulating the guards into granting us access early. Either by faking a problem within the vault that requires our assistance….or claim it’s under orders from the chief.” Felice suggested.

“Ooooh, I could pretend to be sick!” Mitako said. “Then beat ‘em up when their guard is down!”

“Let’s… not do that one,” Alvis suggested.

“It works literally every time,” Pengon muttered. “I never understand why.”

“Wouldn’t beating up the guard just end up causing us…..Look Pengon, why don’t you try to secure the schedule? The rest of us can see if we can try to trick the guards into granting us access if you’d like.” Felice said

“Alright, can do,” Pengon said, breaking out his tool again, exchanging some of his magical items and changing the disguise until, a handful of minutes later, he looked almost exactly like any other azata there. “Hmm. This should work.”

“Not a bad trick there,” Alvis said.

“Yeah, Pen’s good at a lot of things, Strong Elf!” Mitako said, “Anything he isn’t, I do instead!”

“Like fighting,” Pengon informed them. “If nothing else I can distract the overseers. Yuki, Vlad, try to keep your lover’s quarrel to a minimum volume, would you?” He added, standing and striding off to see if he could get a peek at the schedule.

“She’s not my lover,” Vlad replied with a roll of his eyes. “Narris would kill you if she heard you say that.”

Yuki glared at Pengon. “Seriously? Keep your trap closed or I’ll slice your head off.” She growled. “Besides, I'm married.”

“HEY!” Mitako stood in front of Pengon, “No slicing heads off! Pen is just being silly, okay? I won’t let you hurt him, Blue Tails!”

“Right…” Yuki rolled her eyes. “Now let’s get back to business. We can’t waste any spare time.”

“Come on, I can’t be so bad you’d rather murder someone,” Vlad muttered.

“Let’s settle down,” Pengon said, giving Mitako a quick peck on the cheek, before actually heading off to try and insert himself in with the various overseers.

"Save your bickering for after the mission, will you two? You are going to blow our cover at this rate." Felice sighed, all the while glaring at Vlad and Yuki, "Honestly….I would expect this out of children, not a goddess and a great wyrm."

Yuki sighed deeply and rolled her eyes. She kept an eye out for any changes.

Vlad frowned, but stayed quiet for now.

Alvis chuckled a bit, “Ah, don’t let it get to you both. Save those feelings of aggression for someone who deserves it, like our raccoon host.”

"Agreed. Now let's see about getting through that door, shall we?" Felice said, nodding to Pengon.

Pengon, of course, was out of earshot, speaking with an azata holding a clipboard, pointing at it and then at the door, as the two slowly seemed to become more agitated, until the other Azata walked towards the door and unlocked it, Pengon approaching the group and clicking his tongue. "Come on, you lot, stop trying to slack. We've got a few special items to clear out, so hurry up."

"Cut us some slack, boss….We've been hauling this shit all day. Can't we take like five minutes to rest?", One of the azata complained as he leaned against a crate.

"Ugh….come on Rial, we best get back to work. Amasal knows the chief will flip if he finds out we were slacking." another remarked, all the while giving Pengon a puzzled look, "What special items? I thought we had already taken care of that earlier this shift…."

"I don't ask the boss why she changed her mind, do you?" Pengon replied. "Come on, you know better than that."

"Maybe I am just losing my mind, but I could have sworn the boss said we had everything accounted for. She should have said something…" the azata remarked his eyes narrowing at Pengon. He was about to say more, but was cut off as Felice leaned in, "This is an order directly from Annaisha. She told us that these items need to be archived right away due to their rarity. Do you really want to question an order from her?"

The azata shrugged as he opened the doors for Pengon, "Alright, alright …Honestly, I don't get paid enough to be dealing with this shit. Go on in…."

"You think we do?" Pengon muttered under his breath, walking through without hesitating. Vlad, watching closely, grabbed a cart for artifacts, pointing Alvis to another one, pushing it through quickly.

Alvis grabbed the other cart, “What cheapskates they can be, can’t pay a nice wage for us all, huh? Can’t believe they get away with that…”

"You would think, being an extremely rich goddess, and all…" Vlad sighed. "I guess they get rich by pinching pennies too…"

"Tell me about it. The damn chief and her little today hoard most of what should be going to us l. I suppose that's to be expected from a former crook." The worker sighed as he went back to work, "Good luck with those special items by the way."

“No need to concern yourselves. Azata are fickle and will move on to the next court and location once Ivrea’s work is done.” Yuki explained.

"Sounds about right. From what I've seen, most of the crew here are just temporary workers for her." Felice explained, "Now come on, we should get moving before they come back."

"Felice, you know the internal safeties best, right?" Pengon asked, falling back to join the others. "Can you direct us there quietly?"

"I should be able to for the most part, Pengon." Felice nodded as she motioned for the crew to start prepping to enter the vault, "Just be warned, she may have added some security measures since I was last inside. That said, it shouldn't be anything we can't handle."

“Ooooh, don’t worry, Pen can deal with any of that sorta stuff!” Mitako said proudly! “I mean, one time I got trapped in this laser room and he managed to get me out, I rolled like I never did before!”

Pengon sighed. "And your hair took a month to grow back properly. Let's not get an impromptu haircut this time?"

Vlad laughed. "I don't know, I could use a haircut. It's getting down past my neck, after all."

“A trim, but it is unnecessary for myself.” Yuki smiled a little bit.

"I mean, where would we even start there,” Alvis remarked, pushing back his hair which seemed to be perfectly cut.

"Probably trim it back to her neck, maybe to the ears." Felice remarked, smiling a tad.

Vlad looked at the fox then shook his head. "If my hair was that long, I'd use it to hit people in the face and distract them."

“A little crude way, but might be a worthwhile dirty trick.” Yuki winked.

"Kind of reminds me of a mage I heard about from Lady Aoife." Felice shrugged, working to deactivate the remaining barriers around the door. The massive vault door retracted a few feet into area behind the door, revealing a polished silver corridor lit by blinding white light. The sextet could hear a faint hum coming from the walls, all the while Felice beckoned then forth, "Come on. Grab those carts and let's get moving."

“Let’s get ready to roll!” Mitako said, literally rolling in.

Vlad did just as Felice said, pushing his cart in, smirking now. "This is the good shit, right? My sword is somewhere here, hopefully?"

Alvis pushed the other cart, “Yeah, or else we’ve got problems… but we’ll still be able to get some things regardless.”

"We should hopefully be able to procure quite a bit in here. Especially if the rumors I have heard are true." Felice smirked, closing her eyes as she conjured a white flame in her hand. She launched the faint more of light forward, revealing several intricate runes lining the walls and floor. They pulsed in a faint green light, seeming to glow brighter as the party drew deeper into the vault, "Clever girl. Looks like she has set up several detection runes down the main corridor here. You step on one and it will trip the alarm."

“Geez, with this many I dunno how we’d be able to get through,” Alvis said. “Got any ideas?”

“Ooooh,” Mitako waved her hands, “Me, me! I can just jump around ‘em!”

“... any ideas from someone else?” Alvis asked.

Pengon shook his head. "No, she's right. Mitako, here," he said, giving her a small, metallic rod. "You know what to do, right?"

“Yup, Pen!” Mitako pumped her fists, “I’ll show you, Strong Elf and the others I don’t remember what I call you,” she said as she took the rod, rolling into the room before leaping between two of the points, hitting both with the rod in order to dispel the magic between them.

“Huh,” Alvis scratched his head, as Mitako lept from point to point, sometimes balancing precariously on spots in order to hit all the runes on the precise points to deactivate them. “No wonder she was chosen for this task.”

"She's my most reliable partner," Pengon replied with a smile. "I don't know what I would do without her."

The runes pulsed a vibrant red as they deactivated, all the while the faint hum that permeated the air ceased. Felice chuckled lightly as the symbols disappeared, "Heh, nice job you two. That solves one problem…."

Yet the deva soon fell silent as she heard the vault door slam shut beyond them, as a secondary black door rose over it. The group could see what appeared to be seven key holes surrounding a central lock which bore Ivrea’s seal. Yet as the door locked into a place, they could hear the whirring of gears and the ticking of a clock behind them. "Not a bad guess if I do say so meself, ye lot. That proves ye be smarter than most of the two bit padfoots we get through here.” a voice cackled behind them. Looking behind them, they could see a pale skinned kitsune in a white waistcoat and pants smirking at them. He gave a deep bow, as four bronze tails waved behind him, “Too bad it won’t be enough to let ye win our little game tonight, though I suppose it be borin if it were that easy. Oh that be right, where be me manners? Emile Leblanc, Master of Ceremonies and yer host for tonight, at yer service.”

“Oh, come on!” Mitako pouted, “I did good and they just cheated, Pen! Now Mean Tails is being a jerk!”

“We didn’t cheat, Lass….Ye and Pennie there simply didn’t stop to think things through. After all, all be fair when one is playing a game with a servant of the Goddess of Mischief.” Emile chuckled, all the while giving Mitako a wicked grin.

"Figured," Pengon sighed. "Mitako, it's fine. We'll just do such a good job of wrecking his reputation he'll be lucky to be a cashier at Mr. MooCow's after this."

"So… are you gonna try and fight us or just keep us trapped in here?" Vlad asked the kitsune, drumming his fingers on the cart.

“No, I have no intention of fightin ye directly. Such violence…be unbecoming of one like me. No, I was thinking we’d play a little game instead.” Emile said, conjuring seven platinum keys into the air above them all the while he gestured to the door behind them, “Ye, like our previous guests be hear because ye thought ye’d steal from milady. In the past, we’d simply kill ya….but we thought of a more entertaining solution….force ye into a lwee little scavenger hunt. Ye win and I’ll let ye go, as well as give ye a nice little parting gift of yer choice. You lose and well, let’s just say ye become permanent additions to the collection. What do you say, ye up for the challenge?”

“I mean, technically we’re here because she stole from us,” Alvis had to point out.

“Lad, I could care less if she stole from ye or not. That be beyond what my purpose. All that matters is that ye set foot in the vault with thievin in yer heart. As such, I am obligated to try to stop ye.” Emile retorted

“A game?” Yuki snapped her finger as she vanished from sight. In a mere second, the kitsune reappeared behind Emile, and with one swift kick at the rear, she forced the man down on the ground. “Play times over kid.” She held the scythe over his neck. “Now open the door, or your head is a part of my collection.”

“KAHAHAA! Go ahead and take me head, lass. Not like I can’t get another.” Emile cackled as he grabbed the scythe with surprising force, pulling it through his neck. The kitsune fell limp as his head rolled a few feet toward Vlad. Yet as the group focused on his head, Emile’s body delivered a swift kick toward’s Yuki’s abdomen, knocking her a few feet forward. The body rose to it’s feet, and bowed. As it bowed, the party could see countless gears and cogs ticking away in Emile’s interior as the head cackled once more. Rolling back toward the body, it spoke, “Take me head, take me arm, or me tails, but it won’t set ye free. Though, I certainly will get a good laugh out of y-”

The head was suddenly crushed by a red dragon’s claw, “Sorry, but someone needed to shut him up,” the dragon turned back into Alvis, “I had to do it. C’mon now, any more ideas now?”

“Honestly, how rude! I wasn’t even finished yet.” the body said, wagging its finger towards Alvis, “Alright….Well i suppose we’re going to have to do this the hard way then!” Emile’s body let loose a low snicker.

Vlad stepped forward, grabbing the construct by the shoulder. "Sorry, but this is stupid, and you're insane," he said, flames licking at his lips as he pushed the construct to its knees. "Rest well, weirdo," Vlad added, unleashing a stream of fire into the neck hole of Emile, watching as the construct melted from the inside out, the gears quickly turning into a pool of superheated metal.

A small silver orb rolled towards the part from what was once Emile’s body, detonating in fiery blue explosion. The party could feel some of the magic drain from the air, as they heard a metallic voice echo, “Should have figured that a wyrmling such as yourself would be a buzzkill, but no matter. Whether you like or not, our little game has only just begun. See ya soon, ye wee little rats.”

Felice moved to Yuki’s side, checking on her before looking back towards Emile’s charred remains, “I knew she would have security, but this is just demented….even for Ivrea.”

"... right. Fuck the plan," Vlad said, eyes glowing red as he removed his disguise. "Smash and grab. Trigger every single alarm. If we can't take it, destroy it. And when we're done, we'll leave the way they could never stop. Ignore the stupid keys."

“Oh, good,” Mitako said, “I was getting tired of doing things the sneaky way, this is more my style!”

Alvis meanwhile had to ask Vlad, “Um, you can use your fire breath even outside of your dragon form? That’s… pretty cool, I gotta admit…”

“A small bruise, but I plan to give Ivrea a stern talk afterwards.” Yuki then looked at the door. “Now, let’s make our way through this door. I’d rather not go through a trashy slasher film with such games.”

"I'm not a fighter, anyways," Pengon sighed. "I guess this job has gone tits up. Hey, Mitako, remember the Druegar mountain?"

“You mean the one where I just punched that wall before it collapsed?” Mitako punched her fist into her palm.

“Hrm….you’re not going to get out that way..” Felice said launching a spear of light towards the door. A series of violet and indigo barriers appeared as the spear attempted to break through, eventually repelling it back towards the part and into a nearby wall, “Looks like that gear filled fuck head threw up a dozen or more barriers over the entrance.”

"Out?" Pengon raised an eyebrow. "Mittie, let's go all in if this is a smash and grab, and destroy everything inside this vault. Wanna show our new friends what happens when an internal wall meets you and you're upset at it?"

“Ooooooh,” Mitako jumped around, shadowboxing, “I’ll show ‘em what happens when you try and keep me caged up!” As she started to punch the sides of the area, the spells seemingly breaking apart as she slammed her fists against the walls of the place, “Hey, Strong Elf, got some good arms? Grab as much as you can, I’ll get us outta here!”

The wall buckled under Mitako’s strikes, the barriers dissipating with each blow until they finally gave way. The wall caved in, revealing a room filled from floor to ceiling with shelves containing all manner of artifacts. The group could see everything from swords that emitted a faint holy aura, to ancient armors, and even a few crowns and other regalia scattered. On the far end of the room, the party could see a pair of weathered statues clutching an crystalline orb that seemed to call to Yuki.

“Right away, Miss!” Alvis turned into his dragon form again to grab as much as he could, his draconic instincts kicking in as he was able to instinctually grab the treasure as it was flowing out from the blows the Squirrelkin was doing. “Geez, remind me to never make her mad!”

Yet in his haste to grab the treasure, Alvis had not seen a shelf of elixirs above the wall give way. The potions and elixirs tumbled from the shelf, crashing to the floor as several impacted Alvis’s scaly hide and seeped into it. For a moment they seemed to do nothing, but soon he felt the sensation of several blades digging into his flesh. The sensation was soon worsened as multiple points of agony erupting across his skin, all the while an intense fever took hold.

“GRAAAAAH!” Alvis yelled in pain, “Dammit dammit DAMMIT!” He fell to the ground in agony, “Why me!?”

"You were careless?" Pengon guessed. "Huh. I wonder what was in those. Too bad our daughter isn't here, huh Mittie?"

“Oopsie,” Mitako said, “Sorry… where’d Strong Elf go? Did Big Reddy there eat him up?”

Yuki seemed dazed as she approached the statues and studied the crystalline orb. “What is this…”

The orb pulsed, all the while the world around Yuki seemed to melt away. She found herself standing on a verdant cliffside overlooking a seaside city. The city itself was overflowing with magic and arcane power permeating the air, all the while celestials and mortal mages of all types milled about in its streets. In the town square, she could see two silver statues of herself and Vlad holding up the orb from which a brilliant pillar of white light shot skyward. Images of herself and the wyrm besting Ivrea, unlocking countless magical mysteries, and raising a new generation divine foxkin flashed through her head. “This is a future that can be your’s, one in which you are the unquestioned ruler of the arcane. You can achieve this future with the elder wyrm and his young protege, provided you are willing to listen to me…” a faint voice whispered in her ear.

Yuki gazed upon the cityscape and the nearby land that appeared to be far grander than anything that Auroras City can create. The people, the potential mysteries of magic unraveled and the children. Not to mention that dragon man… Yet she frowned as there was something missing, outside of kicking Ivrea’s rear, in this city. “Listen? Hmm, then where will the Warrior Trinity fit into this path? Shield? Glacia? Flora?”

"Obviously your fellow deities would still be allied with you, though you would lead them. Your wisdom and ever growing knowledge would help guide them and your homeland to a new era…" The voice responded as a vision of Yuki standing side by side with Glacia and Shieldmaiden, above a hall of apprentices and acolytes. As the vision progressed, she saw them conversing over plans for improvements to the city and advising the leadership of Silverdale. The vision faded as the whispers once more worked their way into their mind, “If this path be your desire, then charming the dragon that accompanies you is among the first steps you must take….”

Gah! What the hell everyone sees with me and that Vlad. Yuki huffed as she glanced over to the man and then looked a little. “I doubt he… Would he truly care for someone like myself? A no-sense professional fox or a goofball animal? No no he would prefer someone else.” She shivered a bit before she decided to move on, and take the crystalline orb.

"Yuki?" Vlad asked, then shrugged. "Right, well, I don't do healing magic and Yuki seems fascinated with that orb, so… sorry, Alvis."

“Give me one moment, Alvis.” Felice said as she moved to his side, casting a few healing spells on him. The injuries from the concoctions slowly but surely began to heal, all the while the intense pain that had afflicted him receded, “There. That should at least allow you to continue on for a few more hours.”

“It-it’s a unique treasure to study and determine where Ivrea stole it from.” Yuki replied. “Now… are you feeling alright Alvis?”

“Gah…” Alvis was still feeling some pain, but it appeared that the major damage was done, “Geez… that was the worst thing to happen to me since that time I ate some undead, gah. Was sick for days afterwards. … I should be fine for now, but please let’s be careful…”

“Hey, c’mon, you were the one reckless enough to do that!” Mitako said. “But I’m glad you’re okay, Big Reddy, wherever you came from.”

"That's… you know what, not important," Pengon said. "Let's keep smashing, but this time make sure nothing is about to collapse before we go through?"

“Smash, but be sure not to charge headlong into a room before we’ve cleared.” Felice retorted

“I’ll go in last this time, then,” Alvis said, “At least then next time it won’t be me.”

“Alrighty, smashy-smashy!” Mitako rolled around, testing the walls before picking one, “Aaaaaand, here!” She did one precise punch that instantly caused part of the wall to break through.

"You know, even I'm a bit impressed by that one," Vlad said, taking a look inside the room, making sure not to poke his head too far in. "Anyone know how big this place is, anyways?"

Yuki shrugged as she went off to pick up a few other books and scrolls nearby. “I cannot say for sure.”

“From what I understand, there’s at least two kilometers worth of tunnels to cover. So suffice to say, it’s quite massive.” Felice said, once more pulling up a map of the complex as she gestured to what appeared to be a large room at the end of the tunnels, “if i had to guess, this will likely be where she is housing the most valuable of her treasures.”

"Then let's get a move on," Pengon replied. "No use sitting here with the distractions."

“Aw, sorry Big Reddy, guess I can’t sit with you anymore,” Mitako said as she rolled away.

“... he said distractions, not big dragons,” Alvis groaned, as he followed the others, hoping to avoid falling for any more traps… or at least not being the one caught in them.

While the infiltration team continued delving deeper into the depths of the vault, Glacia and company were busy mingling with Ivrea’s countless guests. They had already crossed paths with Solis and Amasal, with whom Glacia and Narris had spent a good deal of time conversing. Yet they had not just spent the party mingling, but had done quite a bit of reconnaissance on the collection displayed in the manor. From what they could tell, Ivrea had gathered a fair number of very rare and powerful magical artifacts ranging from scrolls to enchanted weapons. Yet as they perused the rooms, they couldn’t help but notice that Ivrea’s servants seemed to be keeping close tabs on them.

“Gah….can’t take a step without them damn kitsune and azata tailin us.” Narris hissed, looking behind her to see an azata scrutinizing them. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Annaisha conversing with Ivrea whose expression seemed to brighten as they spoke. She could have sworn she saw the goddess smirking over whatever it was the kitsune told her.

Catherine grimaced as she looked at the next item set and back at Narris. “I suppose our commentary draws the attention from them I see.” She thought for a second. “Perhaps we could do a little split or so?”

"Aye, it likely be beneficial if we split up for a bit." Narris remarked as she nodded in agreement with Catherine, "That should be keeping their attention scattered for a bit."

Glacia for her own part focused on speaking with other divine guests, seemingly paying little attention to the servants. That said, she was keeping an eye on everything, and if that sword was indeed the one that they were looking for, she already had something in mind for it. That said, at long as this amount of attention was focused on them, it would be tricky.

As Glacia, Narris, and Catherine meandered throughout the rooms, they could see the lights beginning to dim. They could see a kitsune clad in a red suit and top hat, brandishing a black cane summon a large crystalline orb to his side. The orb began to glow, showing the interior of the vaults as a loud crack was heard in them. The view switched to show Alvis writhing in pain on the floor, all the while Felice tended to his wounds. The kitsune gave a wicked smirk as he spoke, his voice bellowing through the air, "Lasses and Lads, Lord and Ladies, distinguished guests… Lend me yer ears and eyeballs if ye will, for it be time for tonight's entertainment. Here we be having a group of thieves braving the gauntlet to see if they can steal from a goddess. Will they succeed or fail? Who's to say, but we will find out here shortly." The kitsune said as the view in the orb shifted against showing a pair of wraiths stir to life a room over.

Annaisha for her part glared at the kitsune, saying nothing as she pulled Ivrea aside. The two entered into a heated argument in a language the party couldn't quite understand. A look of horror dawning on Ivrea's face as she looked back towards the orb.

Glacia’s eyes turned gold as she, and Skathi, was furious at Ivrea for letting this get out of hand, but she realized that she could use this to teach her the lesson she really needed, “This is the entertainment they thought would amuse us?!” A voice said in a different tone than Glacia normally spoke in, “Is this her idea of a sick joke,” a different voice rang out, seemingly from another part of the room, “Why would she do that to that poor dragon, even if they’re trying to steal things that’s a bit much, isn’t it?”

“My my…” Lyclyn frowned. “Entertainment lady Ivrea? What is this? A court of vile fey or fiends who takes pleasure from it? How cruel.”

"What? No! It wasn't meant to be that way…Emile you had said you were just challenging them to a friendly game, not a gamble of life and death…" Ivrea shit back as she looked towards the kitsune

"It not be our fault if that thick headed dragon plowed straight a case of potent toxins. The injuries from that be on him. Besides, I offered them a chance for a fair game and that there wyrlming turned me to slag. So forgive me if I be a bit…overzealous in doing the job ye assigned to me." Emile shot back his golden eyes narrowing as he glared back at Ivrea. He whispered, "Besides, if me memory serves ye did ask for this, milady. "

"So this be the sort of entertainment the daughter of the Dragon Queen and the Adventurer King finds suitable for her guests? Torture and torment of thieves over petty theft, how vulgar ye be. Truly, yer parents would be ashamed of ye for having fallen so far, Ivrea. That be saying nothing of the fact ye tolerate a scoundrel like him in yer court." Narris said, giving Ivrea a disgusted look, "Such behavior…it be unbefitting of a goddess, let alone a so called hero of Silverdale."

“It’s more exciting than the ‘party’ was!” Rosa shouted, having at some point circled back around to near Narris and Glacia. “And anyways, didn’t you hear? One of them melted that guy! I think the thieves are totally badass,” she giggled as she finished, smirking right at Ivrea.

“They are,” Glacia giggled softly, before projecting in another voice, “Yeah, they’re more heroic than the hosts even! Didn’t Ivrea steal all this stuff anyways?” Another voice rang out, “Yeah, what gives about that? We’re supposed to think they’re terrible when all of this is ill-gotten gains in the first place? Then she tortures them for trying to do the same thing? How terrible!” “If she thought hiring that psycho fox was a good idea, then she’s as much to blame as him for what happened!”

“Oh, and stole many of my items here, and put them on display.” Catherine snapped. “I do wonder, if these weren’t trinkets I crafted, but heroic items used by people but lost them… How many folks did she end up dooming to monsters and all sorts of evil? In fact… it’s heros, gods, and good beings Ivrea robbed!”

"That's enough, you two. You know damn well that the lion's share of these items were taken from evil doers, rogues, or recovered on research trips. That's to say nothing of how certain objects in the collection…" Ivrea said, nearly hissing as she retorted. The kitsune gestured to Fafnir's Fang, "Were taken from owners in whose hands they would end up causing great harm. I am not going to lie and say I am without blame here, but there is a difference between your slander and my faults. And really?! You know fulwell...Emile had acted beyond the scope of his mandate in starting this mess…"

“The responsibility falls onto YOU.” Lyclyn then snapped. “It is the hostess. No, the LADY of this house, who is in charge of who is assigned to manage positions. Now to showcase Lady Glacia’s own husband to be harmed right in front of her?! Alongside all the items you took from her and allies. What kind of FRIEND are you! You should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of people you loved and stole from them. Not to mention her best friend too!” Lyclyn pointed to the rob where Yuki faced off the wraths and seemed to struggle against them!

Glacia actually stopped her little gambit for a moment, partially in shock but also with some level of pride in her paladin’s beliefs. Joining her for a moment, she seemed to shudder, “Ivi… what did we ever do to deserve this sort of treatment from you? I tried to be your friend, and yet… you steal from us, and harm us like this…” she sniffed.

The color drained from Ivrea's face as Lyclyn and Glacia's words struck her, seemingly driving deep into her. The kitsune looked away from the pair and to the orb, watching in silence as a series of icy spears drove Felice back towards Alvis. "I…None of this was my intent…I" Ivrea choked out as spear sent the deva flying, causing the goddess to fall silent. The party could see her fighting back a few tears as she continued to watch, "I thought it was all good fun….I…I didn't want this to happen…"

"Maybe you shouldn't steal important stuff, then?" Rosa piped up, still watching the orb. "By the way, weren't there like, six of them? Half of them have disappeared."

"What a lovely performance ye two…. Honestly, I daresay it be worthy of a run on Theater Avenue. That said, such theatrics won't help yer friends there. Like it or not, they made the choice to steal from us…and they will play our little game through to its conclusion." Emile retorted, rolling his eyes at Glacia and Lyclyn's outbursts, "That said, do not blame Lady Ivrea for us doing our jobs or your friends makin things difficult. After all, this could have all been avoided had they not chosen to be so….difficult."

“Oh no, you saw through my clever ruse,” Glacia feigned shock. “I suppose I really shouldn’t be trying to mess with a goddess in her own domain.”

"Ye know…I can appreciate a good ruse, truly I do. And I commend ye for it, but don't be thinkin it will earn yet friend's any leniency. Truth be told, after their behavior tonight I be feeling a might less…sporting." Emile chuckled as hooded figures surrounded by a whirling storm of frost appeared before Alvis, shambling towards the dragon. The view on the orb shifted towards Pengon, Vlad, and Mitako being trained by twin clouds of red vapor. The vapor went to the rafters above the trio, it's mere presence causing the barriers around the walls to flicker.

The vapor shook and dissipated on the orb, revealing another Emile at the very moment a large, heavily scarred golden claw smashed him against the ground, the claw slowly disappearing back into the shape of an arm as Vlad's voice could be heard, though distorted. "You really thought this was a funny game? Man, are you a masochist or something?"

"I'll be admitting….It be fun watching ye rats wander in vain. Always searching, but never finding what ye want…" the kitsune cackled back, his face twisting into a manic grin as he gripped Vlad's wrists, the vapor swirling from the towards the dragon.

Catherine gave an unamused look as she turned towards the Azata. “Spirits of freedom! Why stand by and allow injustice to occur in your eyes? Are you helpless sheep? NO! You’re beings of goodness and heroes.” She then turned to the deities. “Same with you. A proud blazing sun and an adventurous charmer. How about we turn this little show around at this man’s face?” She then turned to Glacia. “You wanna turn this around a bit honey?”

“Oh, I’d love to, Auntie,” Glacia said, “But that mean fox goddess stole my sword,” she gestured to the case that Fafnir’s Fang was in. “Oh, well, I suppose if we must…”

Rosa giggled, pulling out a sword from under her dress. "Now this is a party worth being at! Aoife, dear, let's kick some ass!"

"I would be more than happy to assist you, my dear. Let's teach this fox some manners, shall we?" Aoife said as she summoned an icy blue rapier to her hand.

"I suppose…I can allow you to violate decorum if it means putting Emile in his place." Annaisha sighed, snapping her fingers as the case for Fafnir's Fang flew open. The blade launched towards Glacia's hand as Annaisha gave her a nod, "Please, try not to make much of a mess…."

“Aw, thanks,” Glacia sidestepped as the blade flew further at Emile; for a moment, a closer look at it would reveal that the elven goddess wasn’t actually making it up; the sword seemed… off? Rather thinner than normal. With a snap of her fingers, the sword returned to Glacia’s hand, “I really did need to retrieve this. Seems that even I couldn’t fully get around the security fully,” she giggled, holding Tizona in her hands. “Thanks for the help!”

"It be far too long since I have had this much fun. Not since me days entertaining that old Tincan of an Emperor have I laughed so much.." Emile chuckled as he summoned a mythril mace to his hand, all the while a deck of cards swirled around him, "Yer move, little elflet."

Solis let out an annoyed coo at the whole show and glared right at Ivrea. “Ho ho. I suppose this whole mastermind needs to be taught a lesson as well! Come on Amasal, let’s punish a foxie first, while the others deal with the imp.”

“Heheh, you beat!” Amasal materialized a whip and cracked it.

Solis leaped forward into the air to deliver a dive kick right at Ivrea’s side!

“Oooh, hey, Sunny,” Shana said, nudging her date, “I think this party just got a whole lot more interesting…” she concentrated and became a humanoid light dragoness, “Seems I think I might have to teach my dear daughter a lil’lesson.”

“Okie!” Sunny winked! “Let’s go smite some naughty folks alright!?”

Annaisha for her part, disappeared in a puff of a smoke only to remerge behind Solis. She blasted the goddess with several bolts of lightning. "My apologies, your highness….but I cannot very well allow you to harm Lady Ivrea."

The physical force of the lightning bolts intercepted Solis and sent her to the wall! However, the fox goddess landed right on the wall, and stood there as she stared right at Annaisha! Her tails burned bright as the sun, and the electrical damage itself… seemed to fizzle away from contact and the electric energy faded. “Oh dear… I suppose the little discipline of the child caught you on the web. Oh well.”

Her hands snapped as she conjured up both a small sun sphere and tarot card to toss at Annaisha! In a short notice the sun sphere transformed into a binding sphere of light that surrounded the kitsune, and the card burned as a barrage of solarbeams strike at her!

Annaisha was launched back by the the beams, impacting the wall with tremendous force. She collapsed to her feet. The kitsune seemed out for a few moments, but soon disappeared once more.

As the chaos broke out, the orb continued to show the vaults, where Vlad was in the process of wringing the head off another Emile, his disguise long gone.

"T…thank you…" Emile groaned out, a smile on his face as he hurled a silver key towards Vlad. The kitsune fell silent as death took him, his body soon crumbling into dust.

Vlad caught the key, shrugging to the other two as the orb switched perspective again.

Alvis for his part was seen to be injured, but still fighting against the undead with cold powers, “Hey, idiot who designed this,” the red dragon said, “I am afraid of eating zombies. Not fighting them!”

Glacia for her own part warped right behind Emile, “Hey, silly fox,” she winked, “Seems you’ve been causing all sorts of problems today. But I gotta ask, who here’s the biggest troublemaker?” She said as she struck from multiple sides at once, warping back and forth.

"I suppose I be, but ye can't be a fool for entertaining his guests. Now…let's try to have a little laugh shall we?" Emile said, chuckling as he parried the last warp strike with his mace. He struck twice in Glacia's stomach and neck with the weapon, all the while four cards dug into her beck. Glacia could feel flames bursting forth from the card, as an overwhelming urge to laugh began to well up within her.

Glacia’s laughing turned out to be her usual giggles, “Ouchies! That does hurt, but I still find it funny, heehee! Then again, I find a lot of things funny, y’know? Like, say, what happened to that sword if mine was in the case? Silly fox, I can’t stop laughing at you, heehee!”

The kitsune cackled, striking Glacia in succession of hits across her neck and arms. With each hit, she found herself succumbing ever more to her growing laughing fit. "Ye know…It does me heart good to make someone laugh after all this time, even if it be at cost for me." Emile smiled as he launched a volley of cards towards Aoife and Rosa, all the while the Azata surrounding them began to attack the duo.

Glacia fell to the ground laughing, “HEEHEEHEE! Ooooh, you’re so funny, you silly, silly foxie! I find you hilarious!” She started to lose control as she rolled on the floor.

Rosa stepped in front of Aoife, cutting down the cards with rapid and precise swings, a smile on her face. "I always feel happiest protecting you from some hare brained idiot, dear!"

"I maybe a fool, but I am no idiot lass." Emile chuckled as the remaining cards formed into several lances, launching towards Rosa. Flames, Ice, and electricity crackled over their surfaces as the pursued the azata. Emile gave Glacia a bow, "I thank ye for allowing me to entertain you, lass. Truly, being able to do that…Well let's just say it has made me quite the happy man."

Shana, or rather Leora the avatar of Brasa, meanwhile joined Aoife and Rosa against the Azata, “Sorry for the wait, sis, Sunny and I had a lil’ trouble of our own to deal with,” blasting light at the celestials.

Ivrea for her part joined a renewed Annaisha in the fight against Solis, the two blasting her with a cone of cold and a polar ray respectively. Ivrea followed up by opening a dimension door beneath the goddess, sending her tumbling down to the floor below.

Glacia was in a giggling fit, before regaining some composure. “Oh, I’m pretty happy too, y’know. After all, I guess I distracted you long enough… Auntie, if you please?”

“Teehee! Why of course!” Catherine then pressed her hand onto Lyclyn, who wielded the Fafnir’s Fang! “I dismiss you back to your plane of existence!” Lyclyn meeped playfully as she and the sword vanished back into the Warrior Trinity Realm.

"Well don't that be a damned shame. I suppose we have failed in our main duty then." Emile chuckled throwing his hands up in defeat, before clapping for the three, "Well done ye three….Truly, masterful work.."

"Hey Grannie! Hope you don't mind a little payback!" Ivrea called out as a purple beam launched towards the sage, her form rapidly shifting to that of a toad.

“Oof!” Solis crashed on the ground and shivered. “Now that’s quite harsh but…” she grinned as a crack of a whip wrapped around Annaisha and pulled her back towards Amasal!

“Sorry dearie but it’s time to play nice.” Amasal winked as her eyes began to swirl and cast a dominate monster spell on her!

The toad croaked in hate as Solis leaped up into the air and used her sun magic to conjure up binding chains of light to tie down Ivrea!

"Well…if ye'd be excusing me…. It's been fun, but we be havin other guests to attend to. Oh and Glacia? Here be me card if you ever want to dance again.'" Emilie chuckled, giving the goddess a tip of his hat before disappearing in a whirlwind of cards. A single joker card bearing Emile's name shot towards the goddess, landing in her palm.

Annaisha for her part merely sighed, clapping her hands as the Azata came to a halt. "Alright, everyone, that's enough for tonight. I am sorry you had to do that, but I didn't want that lunatic enthralling you." the kitsune said, gesturing to the orb as Vlad appeared on it once more.

Ivrea for her part, hit Solis with another polar ray before the chains ensconced her. The kitsune hit the ground with a thud, trying in vain to wriggle free from her restraints, crying out "This isn't fair…"

“Brr…” Solis then let out a deep sigh. “Now!” She then looked at everyone. “Cease this madness at once! We’ll settle this matter soon enough! That includes your companions, Glacia. We’re going to have a talk.”

Glacia stood up, floating over to Catherine to pick up the toad, “Poor Auntie… here,” she used Shapechanger’s Gift on her aunt. “Yeah, I’ve done what I needed to,” she said, looking at the card Emilie dropped.

Glacia could see two words form on the card before it burned away, "Look Up"

The muttering around the room was interrupted by a loud slam from the orb, showing a room with only one door in the vault, Vlad alone inside as wards and barriers visibly flared to life, and frost began to form along the walls.

"Damn it …I hope he knows what he be doin wanderin into a trap like that. Gods know he doesn't hold up well to the cold." Narris said, seemingly a bit worried as she watched the orb.

“Glacia, seeing the card, looked up, “Oh, well… I suppose he’s got to have some idea on what he’s doing, right?”

Catherine, now back into her humanoid form, quickly opened up her book to chant a spell to remove any effect of the polymorph spells on her! All to keep herself from reverse back from a toad. “Guh… That was awful.” She sighed. “Welp, there goes a simple heist to a brawl. Now Brasa will be so enraged once she hears about it.”

"To be fair, Lady Catherine….I do not think she will be too cross with you given what Emile and her daughter were doing." Annaisha offered

“Yeah, um, reminder, I’m right here,” Leora waved, “Avatar of Brasa and all that? I’m totally okay with what you did, at least.”

“W-Why thanks Leora…” Catherine then narrowed her eyes at Annaisha. “This Emile fellow… What kind of nut job are you guys hired for? Like seriously?” She sighed. “But he’s one faction of the actual problems we have with Ivrea.”

Meanwhile, the orb had caught Rosa's attention, too, as she watched Vlad begin to shiver, little puffs of fire coming from his mouth but not seeming to do much. "You have a freezer room for thieves? Isn't that kinda… cruel?..."

"Admittedly, it's less we hired him and more he is a…pet of sorts Ivrea recovered from a research trip to Melmond. Essentially, he is the remnants of a Cornerian sorcerer who was shattered into several souls by an Imperial experiment. I believe the plan had been to use the pieces of him to create a sentient army of constructs. Didn't work though as the shattering rendered each soul fragment irrevocably insane." Annaisha explained, sighing as she looked to the orb., "Lady Ivrea figured given his nature, he might prove useful as a vault guardian if he could be kept confined. Essentially he would scare or keep any intruder occupied until we could respond to the break in. He only asked that we attempt to put him back together in exchange for his services"

"He's crazy, but he never really caused any major problems until tonight. Between the heist and that idiot dragon killing him, I am willing to bet he decided tonight was best opportunity to try to pursue that goal. " Ivrea muttered as she closed her eyes, "I can't say for certain…but I think that dragon killing those two bodies probably restored him to a degree. I mean, he did seem a little less insane than usual."

"it's not cruel when I have several dangerous and…very personal artifacts there. I mean halting the thieves there is better than them unleashing what lies deep in the vault," Ivrea protested

"Well, I don't think he's doing so hot," Rosa pointed at the screen, where Vlad was leaning against a wall. "Still kinda cute though, how he keeps trying…" She trailed off.

“Um, where are the others?” Glacia said, being a little more concerned now, “Shouldn’t they be with him?”

"One moment…" Annaisha said, closing her eyes as she focused on the orb. The group could see an exhausted looking Yuki, Alvis, and Felice, standing over a fallen Emile clad in heavy plate armor. By contrast, a moderately wounded Pengon and Mitako resting up against a dead clockwork dragon. Annaisha chuckled as she looked up towards the orb, "I will be damned…Looks like your friends managed to defeat two more of his bodies. If I had to guess, he managed to separate them from that Vlad fellow."

“Can’t you shut this Emile down?” Catherine asked. She looked horrified by the sight and her eyes flared up. “You’ve a remote control to deactivate him, or at least use your divine powers to I don’t know: STOP this mess?”

"Not at this stage, no. I could when he was still shattered, but not when his will is mostly intact. That's to say nothing of the fact that by the time I try, he will likely have wounded or killed your friend down there." Annaisha said, shaking her head, "I doubt even Lady Aoife or you could manage it as this stage."

"So if we can't shut em down….Then couldn't we try to at least shut off that freezer? That way Vlad at least has a fighting chance?" Narris said.

The screen was slowly becoming harder to see through, the frost in the air of the room Vlad was in growing thicker, though an occasional blast of fire erupted through it.

Vlad could hear the fair sound of bells jingling in the frost, seemingly getting closer with each passing moment. As his eyes focused, he could see the withered form of a man clad in a red jester's outfit staggering towards him. The man's withered face was pulled back into a manicial grin, all the while his golden eyes regarded Vlad. Yet when the creature spoke, it wasn't in a cackle or stilted voice but rather a calm tone, "I must say, ye be quite impressive to have made it rather than any prior thief had. I will give ye and yer friends credit, ye truly be worthy adversaries. Even more importantly, I owe you a debt of gratitude for helping to put me back together. Well almost…ye still got one more body to deal with…"

"Oh, great," Vlad said in a tone that implied this wasn't actually all that great. "You've kind of got me on the back foot, buddy, so maybe you can let me out of this icebox out of gratitude?" He requested as he slowly slid towards the floor and yawned.

“Geez, that guy never lets up, does he,” Glacia sighed, “Okay, enough of this. If we can’t shut it off, can we get there ourselves? The cold doesn’t bother me.”

"We can, but you would need Ivrea to break through the barriers." Annaisha responded as she heard Emile speak, "Well…forgive me for wasting pleasantries on ye. Still, as thanks I'll make sure yer death be quick." Emile said as he thread a deck of cards into the air, each becoming surrounded with an icy aura. They launched towards Vlad with tremendous velocity as Emile smiled wickedly, "Farewell, wyrmling. May yer eternal rest be peaceful and undisturbed by the violations of men."

“Oh, fuck you,” the wyrm replied, slamming his hands into the floor, causing a wall of fire to shoot up into the air, melting the cards as they tried to pass through it. “I didn’t want to waste my spells on this shit, but ‘wyrmling’ this and ‘eternal rest’ that… Has anyone ever told you you’re an annoying jackass?"

"Such rudness on one so young…Truly, it speaks to how poor yer upbringing must have been. Surely, yer parents would be ashamed of what a little foul mouthed brat ye turned out to be." Emile retorted as another volley of cards shot forward, all the while the room continued to grow colder.

Vlad’s eyes grew scarlet as the frost in the room began to melt, a slow but steady stream of fire shooting out of his nostrils as he began to shift. First his left hand became a claw, swiping at the jester and smashing it into a wall, grabbing the remains and smashing them again into the floor. “Do not speak of my parents, rodent.”

"KAHAHAHA!" The voice of Emile cackled as the jesters was obliterated by Vlad's assault. "the room began to creak and groan as an ethereal silver orb appeared. Six smaller orbs of different colors danced around it, before fusing into it. As the fusion ended the metal surrounding the orb was sculpted into a towering humanoid body. The figure's exterior was wreathed in clockwork, all the while its eyes pulsed a bright gold as it bellowed out, "Seven hundred years of living a shattered existence and FINALLY! I am free! Truly, I cannot thank ye enough for being so daft as to kill that wretched jester." the clockwork construct summoned flowing white and gold mage's robes to its body, all the while a massive tome appeared in its left hand. The construct mutters a few words as a veritable blizzard shot forth, freezing over much of the room.

Solis snapped her finger to unbind Ivrea, and then used a heal spell to restore everyone’s wounds to full. “Such folly is the use of a powerful ego of a mage, now gifted a great construct to one day cause mayhem.” She sighed. “Oh dear… Well, Ivrea, it is time to undo this little mistake and save Vladimir and your friends.”

"I am going to regret this….but FINE!" Ivrea said as she opened a gate behind her, the other side showing Vlad and the construct standing in an snow covered chamber. The kitsune goddess muttered a string of incantations as the barriers blocking the gate flashed violently, before vanishing altogether. Waving the others toward her, Ivrea leapt through the gate.

Glacia jumped into the gate herself, brandishing her blade as she dashed forward with an afterimage, “Hiya! Sorry, Emilie, but I don’t really find you all that funny anymore,” the legendary sword Tizona being keyed into harming constructs. “We’ve got the blade already, but I think we have some unfinished business.”

"Admittedly, I be long tired of your little routine Emile…. especially when it be hurtin me most beloved dragon." Narris said, rushing to Vlad's side, "Vlad …Are te alright? Ye not be too badly hurt are you?"

"Such as? You already have what you were searching for, do you not? Besides, I have no quarrel with you now that I be restored to me former self. Unless you be seekin to stop me from returning home, that is .." Emile remarked, looking up from his tome, giving Glacia a puzzled expression, "Something which I would advise ye not do if he value yer lives."

Vlad didn't speak for a moment, but he slowly stood, not obviously wounded, but moving slowly as he approached Emile, brushing his frost tipped hair out of his eyes to reveal an eye slowly filling with black. "I think your home is about to be a very small jar, Emile."

“Sorry, Emilie,” Glacia said, “But I kinda feel you’ve made an enemy out of the wrong people. I saw what you did to Alvis and Yuki, and while I’m a goddess of affection, I can’t exactly give any to those who have none.” Her sword flashed with several more effects, the blade turning from metal to pure energy.

The magus sighed as walls of ice began to form around Narris and Vlad. On his right, he summoned an orb showing Glacia's fellow Trinity members surrounded by a horde of armored knights and clockwork guardians. "By the time you get to me, you will be too late to save yer pet dragons over yonder. That be to say nothing of the danger your fellow deities be in from the other constructs in the vault. Yer choice: Ye can either pursue yer quarrel with me and let yer friend's suffer needlessly. Or ye can cease this madness and let me return home in peace," Emile remarked, as he stared Glacia down

Glacia looked over the dilemmas, “Really? Do you think I’d let you ever do that?” Glacia’s sword added a fire effect as she warped quickly to destroy parts of the walls before warping straight to Emilie, “A lil’ too slow for me!” She said as she struck him several times over in the span of a few seconds.

The walls, already cracked by Glacia’s strikes, broke completely as the same golden claw Emile had seen crush two of his bodies punched through it, but this time it looked almost like it was starting to decay, as black fire began to slowly spread across the floor.

Emile's body creaked with each successive sword strike, seeming to slowly but surely break apart. Yet as Glacia warped in for another strike, she heard something penetrate her armor. As she was knocked back by one of Emile's arms, she could see a short blade extending out from beneath his robe. The construct magus ignored Glacia's remarks as he saw the black flames, cursing all the while. He tried in vain to douse the flames with several ice and water spells, all the while muttering, "What in Mechanus is that damn dragon doing…."

“GAH!” Glacia doubled back in pain, it seemed that whatever that blade was it seemed to hurt her more than usual, and what’s more, there seemed to be some sort of toxin that weakened her, “Guh… really… dammit, that was sloppy of me…”

Solis then grabbed onto Ivrea as she watched the orb. “Ivrea. Fix this disaster you created. NOW. ”

As Solis commanded Ivrea, the black fire spread more, the walls shaking as the barriers began to strain and break, a low growl echoing throughout the room and out of the orb as a large black eye ensconced by off-gold scales could be seen.

Ivrea said nothing, complying with Solis as she opened her spell book. She shifted quickly into a draconic form with silver and black scales, all the while launching a blast of sonic breath towards Emile. The blast seemingly scrambled his systems for a few moments, allowing Ivrea an opening. She slammed into him with full force, breathing out multiple gouts of flame all the while. The flames seemed to have little effect at first, but gradually began to melt the construct's outer frame. Emile impaled Ivrea with the blade he had struck Glacia with, creating a sickening cracking sound as it pierced her scales. The dragoness struck back with her tail, sending the sorcerer's upper half flying towards the vault door. It impacted the door with a resounding crack, before his remains slid to the floor. His once gold eyes flickered red for a moment as they began to fade,l. "Just….wan…to ..go..home…" the construct groaned out as the life drained from him.

Catherine shook her head as she used her magic to open up two portals for both the vault and the rest of the gang to come out. “Is everyone alright!” She cried out for the first group. Yet her heart began to beat fast as she rushed into the second portal to pick up Glacia. “Glacia, are you okay?!”

“Gah,” Glacia winced, “I think that was… an elfbane weapon… tipped with poison… not enough to kill me, of course, but I think I’ll be… gah, might take a lil’while to recover… but it’s not me you should be…”

The walls shook again, then cracked, then collapsed as the fire grew stronger, spreading even back through the portal, a diseased appearing golden dragon head pushing through the vaults roof as it's body quickly dwarfed everyone else in the room, roaring and letting loose a blast of black fire that burned away at the room. Something small, at least in comparison, was held tightly in its left claw as it roared again.

Whatever the dragon held in its left claw struggled to work its way free, until at last the familiar form of Narris emerged. She climbed up onto him, calling out "Vlad…you needn't do this, love. I am unharmed for now, but that will not be if ye continue like this. Same goes for our friends, darling."

Glacia stood up, in pain, “Vlad, listen. We won. We managed to get the sword back, and he’s gone now. Our plans worked… gah,” she fell down on her knees again.

“Glacia!” Catherine shouted. “Come here dear.” She then worked her way to pick up the elf.

A black pupil stared at Narris, the roaring fading out as the dragon's head lowered towards her, fire flickering in its mouth, small bursts that were slowly dying out.

Narris rested her upper body on the dragon's muzzle, rubbing it as she looked up at the pupil. She spoke softly, "Love, you can be at ease now. The threat to us be gone and we succeeded on our mission. Please….don't let the Void consume ye once again, love. Particularly not when ye have so much to live for now."

There was a soft tremor as the dragon shifted its body, the black pupil swirling with red and blue as an internal struggle seemed to conclude, the beast disappearing as Vlad, once again in the form of an elf, held tightly to Narris. "I- I thought you were hurt, I got so angry..."

Narris wrapped her arms tightly around him, nuzzling against him, "I know, but….even if I was you can't give into that thing…like you did. If not for my sake, then do not do for our daughters. Still…I. Just glad you are back."

"I… let's go home," he sighed, finally surveying the room, his eyes widening. "What did I do here?"

Catherine paused as she thought carefully. “A little flamestorm after that Emile did a nasty job on you.” She then sighed. “Come on, let’s meet up with the others and straighten matters out. We have a healer on the other side of the gate.”

“That… would be good,” Glacia panting a bit from the poison’s effects, “That construct… geez, that did a number on me… can’t believe he got me like that, must be getting rusty…”

“Glacia…” Catherine shook her head. “We haven’t expected a foe such as him to linger in the estate to begin with. To be honest: I dismissed him as a clown, but apparently Emile was rather powerful. A sloppy assumption.”

"This is all my fault," Vlad said, using the rubble to step over the fire towards Glacia. "I should've never gotten outsiders involved in my business."

“No…” Glacia shook her head, “We… chose to help. I’ll be fine in a bit,” the elf coughed a bit, a bit of bile spat on the ground, “But we all… wanted to help out. I got hurt because I messed up, not because of you.”

Catherine deeply frowned as she began to go to the portal. “Come on y’all. Let’s leave these places, and meet with the others.”

"Let's," Vlad concurred, supporting Glacia. "If we got the sword, it's time to go home…"

As the group exited the vault, Solis crossed her arms and her eyes burned as a bright sun. “Well well… Now that is all settled… There will be much needed apology and explanation from all of you.”

“... not now, Solis.” Glacia said. “Talk to Ivrea, but I need to-”

“No butts Glacia.” Solis snapped her finger. “You’ll be healed, but you and your friends NEED to hear what I say. Got it?”

Glacia frowned, “Solis… Ivrea stole items from us, and she just wouldn’t listen to anyone to stop,” she coughed more. “We didn’t intend on… that, of course, but she did need to be taught a lesson.”

“A lesson, yes.” Solis nodded. “But is this how it’d go? To cause a whole attack, while your friends dived in a vault, and almost got everyone killed?” She then decided to use her magic to heal the party’s wounds. “That was utterly reckless of you.”

Vlad released Glacia, stepping up to Solis with a scowl. "You can blame me, since it was my plan to do the heist; you can blame the fox for messing with forces far beyond her experience; you can blame the construct for setting up all this destruction, but don't think for a second I'll let you get away with blaming anyone else who came along. This got out of control, but it wasn't their fault."

“And I watched my friends and allies caught in the crossfire from this scheme in a brutal life and death matter. There was a part of the creation, organization, and execution that caused disharmony and only weakened our bonds. That is something I intend, alongside my mother and others like Shield, to correct so none of this happens again.” Solis stated.

"As much as I hate to admit it, Lady Solis does have a point in that there are multiple parties at fault here. Though with that being said, I would be lying if I said Ivrea doesn't deserve the lion's share of the blame." Felice remarked as she hefted an unconscious Ivrea over her shoulder.

Solis frowned deeply as she approached Ivrea and placed a hand on her to use a powerful spell heal spell to restore her wounds. “Yes… Oh I have a plentiful amount to say to Ivrea… That being said…” She turned to Glacia and companions. “You all will be summoned into the Twilight Circle, where each of you will receive a matter of punishment the next day. It’d be weighed from your involvement, but until then, please rest well.”

Glacia groaned, “Fine, fair enough…” she looked over as Alvis and Yuki were helping each other walk up, “If that is all, we’re heading back to my plane.” She summoned a gate with her own powers, Ivrea’s own enchantments having worn off here. “C’mon, everyone…”

Yuki let out an anguish expression as she overheard what happened. “Damn… I suppose once a thief is caught, then we’d get spanked royally.” She then helps Alvis along to the portal.

Glacia folded her arms as her eyes turned gold, “I will have to talk to Brasa about how she is raising her children,” Skathi looked briefly at Solis, “... how is Tai? Is my sister doing well?”

“Oh, I shall bring Brasa and her aspects as well.” Solis then winked. “Tailtiu? She is doing most excellent. You’ll be able to reunite with her soon.””

“... Thanks for taking care of her,” Skathi said back, “I tried to warn you about this, Glacia, but maybe you should listen to me every once in a while…” her eyes turned back to grey, “Enough, we’re heading home now…” she took Catherine’s side and helped her exit the realm.

"Aye, we will worry about the circle tomorrow….For now, let's go on home." Narris said, escorting Vlad and Felice through the portal.

Circle of Twilight

In the twinkling stars of heavenly realms shone upon the lands of great trees, forests, and grasslands. One that even the auroras danced in its beautiful splendor from the hues of magenta and yellow, to green and blue. Such is the harmony of the land, where the cold snowflakes danced yet unable to freeze away those to traverse into the fields with the flame. Beings of light and dark can meet in equilibrium. Within this sacred realm of the divine pantheon of Silverdale and its many roots across the planes lies the trees, stones, and flowers that circular down for the stage. The site of the changing gathering.

A matter of judgment.

The golden hair woman of light frowned at the sight as her fox daughter brought up the case. Was it too long before trouble started once again? It’s been eons since the last one when Lila demanded that her sister became unruly with her attacks before it shut down. Yet for this one… material possessions and artifacts of various purposes, now stolen and misused for one’s glory of a vast collection with a dangerous guardian to protect it. All with one’s retribution of a lesson fell ill. The folly of the youth of the new generation of deities with a lack of wisdom?

Camille wanted to settle this matter herself. Her angels alongside other celestials will guide the wrong doers, of various scales, to the gathering. Even fellow deities such as Shield will make sure this is the case. There won’t be any runaways here as Tailtiu’s cohort will bring them here. And so the gates are open for the arrivals to come.

Glacia led the small group in, her face not her usual happy self but rather frowning, as she was flanked on both sides by Yuki and Alvis. As the three present that were part of the pantheon, they were the ones that needed to answer for what happened there… aside of course from the thief that caused all the problems in the first place.

Followed by Glacia was Shield herself, alongside both Catherine, Brasa herself, and Aoife and Shana. Catherine herself was rather grumpy, while Brasa was quite baffled by the news entirely! Shield herself gave a look of disappointment at Glacia and was rather speechless since what happened with the heist.

Not far behind Brasa and co was a small group led by Kyara, which consisted of her, Felice, and a rather anxious looking Ivrea. Kyara's expression shifted from one of disappointment for Glacia, to one of barely restrained anger for Ivrea and Felice.

Glacia sat down, refusing to look both Shield and Kyara straight in the eyes. The one person she did look properly at was the white-haired archon by Solis’s side, the golden eyes flashing as a small smile was given, before looking straight ahead, not at anyone in particular.

Kyara sat down as well, ignoring her herald and Ivrea as they took their seats. She gazed toward Camille and her servants, all the while sizing them up.
When everyone gathered into the circle, with the new arrival of the giantess Thea, Camille finally spoke up. “Welcome my brother, sisters, lovers, and friends to this hour. It is unfortunate that we gathered under this circumstance of what occurred in the domain of Ivrea. I have seen great heroes who arose from mortality to the divine and have brought much joy to the land. However, one of us went beyond the nature of a thief to one that caused terror, and the response led to almost complete destruction of many deities. One that is unseen since the tragedy of the war where many deities fell. Words alone cannot express how terrible it was. As such…”

Camille then gestured for Ivrea to step forward. “Ivrea Snowtear. Step forward.”

Ivrea calmed herself as best she could as she stepped forward, "Y…Yes, Lady Camille?"

“We understand that you shall be known as a thief and one of deception. However, we see these abilities that were once used against those who harmed many beings to disharmony aimed its direction to rob many items from the members of the pantheon. An entire collection was created from it, and when you’re told to return what was stolen to their owners, you refuse and display it in front of your very companions to glorify yourself. I must ask: why have you done such a thing?” Camille asked.

"I…Well, if it was a mix of greed and a the thrill of it. I…hate to admit it, but it was something I enjoyed because of the rush and danger. Apart from that….It stems from.a childish desire to show off and impress." Ivrea admitted, sighing as she spoke, "Mind you…not everything in that collection was taken from my companions…"

"Excuse me for interjecting Lady Camille, but how is she tied to the near deaths of several deities? From what I had heard, that was a rogue construct…not Ivrea." Kyara interjected.
“Pardon me, but harboring a crazed machine with the soul of a Cornerian mage to turn out to be a sadistic vault guardian.” Solis then tsk. “Quite diabolical.”

“There is the fact that Ivrea consciously was aware of the mental state of the being, and when it became rogue, it was close to costing not only her life but almost everyone else.” Camille said.
"I see…That explains that peculiar soul that passed through the Court that day." Kyara remarked, casting Ivrea a disapproving glance.

“For these reasons, we cannot turn a blind eye away from these mistakes.” Camille then added. “First, all the stolen goods you gathered will be confiscated. Second, all magical powerful items, including the dangerous ones will be taken away as well. And third…” Camille snapped her finger for a magical white-collar relic with a bell attached to materialize around Ivrea’s neck. It clapped firmly and its ‘clip’ was unable to be removed. “You shall work to atone for these crimes. To aid allies and friends alike. Now, this bell will alarm anyone if you attempt to rob any items that don't belong to you from your friends and the pantheon. Alongside mortal treasures such as one from our holy grounds.”

"If I may interrupt, Camille." Aoife called out, as she stepped forward, "Most of the punishments you have handed down are fitting, but I do think removing all of her powerful magical items is a tad excessive. Particularly when Ivrea did create many of them or commissioned them for her and her followers use. If I maybe so bold as to suggest an alternative….Perhaps Catherine or I can be assigned stewardship of them until Ivi proves herself trustworthy enough to use them?"

Camille thought for a second, and then nodded. “Why of course. You shall be stewardship of what Ivrea have crafted and possess. That being said…” She then gestured for Brasa and her aspects to step forward. “There is a matter that needs to be addressed.”

Shana sighed, “Oh, here we go,” she looked to Glacia, who had her eyes closed, “Dad, if you’re listening… sorry.”

“Oh great…” Brasa pouted as she approached. “So, what’s the problem Camille?”

“I understand that due to Ivrea’s unique situation, she wasn’t able to be raised in the dragon paradise and tossed across reality. However… As much as I loved your kindness and eagerness to raise fantastic children, you’ve become far too lenient and allowed your own daughter’s tendencies to reach this point. A blind eye at worst. This has to end, as you must care for your children properly.” Camille stated.

Shana groaned, “I know, I know… I’m rather ashamed of the whole thing, to be honest. I tried to make her into a proper ninja, a defender of the people from the shadows, but resorting to this sort of thing…”
"Admittedly, I bear some of the blame as well. She took the magical skills and knowledge I had taught her, then used them for ill. It…fills me with shame to be quite honest." Aoife groaned

“Ugh…” Brasa shook her head. “How I was supposed to know Ivrea discovered a murder machine? Look, I am aware that my children have to learn by themselves and earn real world experience. That said…” She groaned. “I… look, I’ll keep an eye on my children better, and will be with my daughter better.”

“If I may.” Shield spoke up. “Allow me to speak.”

“Why yes, I’ll allow Shield to speak for this subject.” Camille said.

“The Heist…” Shield turned to look at Yuki, Glacia, and Alvis. “Why didn’t you tell me any of this?! We’re supposed to be in this together. As a Warrior Trinity and Family. However, since you brought Vlad, you’ve… Don’t you even trust us? All of you almost died to obtain a cursed sword. Why sister?”

Glacia stood up and sighed, “Sis… I truly am sorry. It was supposed to be a quick job, if it wasn’t for that construct the entire thing would’ve ended up without any fighting needed…”

“Or maybe,” a voice came from the same source, as the eyes glowed gold, “You didn’t want her to know. Because you were scared that she would just talk you out of it, maybe just go see Mythra and sort this out?”

“N-no!” Glacia gasped as her eyes turned grey, “I just… I wanted to help him out, and teach Ivrea a lesson,”

“And you could still have done both of those,” Skathi took over again, “But you wanted to… I don’t know, prove you were worth something? Seriously, Glacia, there are so many people who care about you, let them help you!”

Glacia turned back as she started to cry, “I’m… I’m sorry… I didn’t expect that to happen… if I had known, of course I would’ve asked for your help…” she held her head down as she sobbed, Alvis patting her back.

“For…” Yuki then spoke up. “Look, we’re stupid alright. We couldn’t take account of Emile but… Oh wait…” Yuki then went blue. “Oh right… Ivrea wouldn’t expect the… Oh damn.” Yuki faceplamed. As she knew while Shield wasn’t the smarter cookie, she could have easily made Ivrea overlook the angel.

"If I may…..Why did you not just come to me if you were seeking to recover the artifact? Given Cohlane is part of my realm and Ivrea is my junior, I likely could have ordered her to hand it over to you. Without the need for you lot and Ivi causing disorder in my city." Kyara interjected, glaring at Glacia and Yuki, "That's to say nothing of the fact that you needlessly put yourselves in danger and coopted my herald for your mission. Tell me Glacia, how do you think Niviea or Elysia would have felt had you ended up injured or dead? Mind you, that also ignores the terrible example it sets for them."

“Ahem!” Camille interrupted. “After what I witness: there is a serious issue of trust with the new deities and the established ones. Thereforth: I have a proposal for Glacia, Alvis, Yuki, and Ivrea. You shall temporarily cooperate with a few of us. Glacia, you shall be with me. Alvis with Airius. Yuki with Avala. Ivrea is free to help with Scathach or Lila as she sees fit. Alongside Shield who’d help with Thea or Loveblade. Lastly, one of the deities will have a request for the Warrior Trinity to work together when the time comes. Understood?”

“I… suppose that’s alright,” Alvis said. “Working with the goddess of the dragon elves… never thought I’d see the day…”

Glacia seemed to be struggling with something internally, “Skathi… are you… stop it… no…” before opening her eyes, golden, “Glacia, please, listen for once. Camille is offering you something really special here; you are getting a chance to work with the head of a pantheon personally, she can teach you so much, you will become a far better goddess as a result of this. So please, for once, just accept that you need help from someone. This is one of the most important parts of our faith; the idea that we can all work together like this.”

Glacia’s eyes turned back to grey, as she wiped away any tears she had, “... I understand. I’ll do my best to not let you down…”

“It seems acceptable enough.” Yuki gave a small nod.

"It's not like I have any choice in it…." Ivrea grumbled

“Lastly…” Camille gave a sorrowful look at Glacia and then the group. “There is one last matter to settle. Vladimir the Dragon. I understand he is under your direct care, is that correct?”

“Yes…” Glacia nodded, “I have been trying to help him out with being in Mystria. It’s only been a month, so there’s still a lot to do…”

“I see… I wish for your family and the Warrior Trinity to be a part of this effort as well. My advice to you is to avoid such dangerous stunts that’d leave you into grave danger.” Camille said.

“Well, I’ll keep an eye on Glacia on that part.” Shield said. “I am her guardian after all.”

“In fairness, there is always a risk with being a warrior goddess,” Skathi spoke up, “She does need to be able to stand up to dangers when they arise… but not alone, okay, Glacia? Trust in those closest to you and you’ll be much safer.” Turning back to Glacia, she sniffed, “O-okay… sis, I’m really sorry…”

Shield gave a small nod as she walked up to Glacia. “Please… You’re just… you know…” She embraced her elven sister.

Camille then smiled. “This concludes our discussion for this hour. It’s been a stern talk, but it is something we needed to hear at this time. I thank you all for your time. Let us move in harmony.”

"Ugh….So glad that's over…." Ivrea muttered as she moved to follow Kyara and Felice, stopping only to glance back at Solis

The archon that was with Solis went towards Shana and Aoife, “Oh, Aunt Tai,” Shana said, offering a hug, “Are you doing well?”

"It's good to see you, Aunt Tai. How have you been?" Aoife said, giving her a hug as well.

“I’m fine, but…” Tailtiu looked at Glacia. “My brother… he’s in worse shape than I thought. Staying fused with her soul… it’s not been good for either of them, has it?”

"No, it has really done a number on them. Truth be told, I am worried we might see them continue to get worse if they remain fused for much longer." Aoife admitted, sighing

“If you can find a way to separate them, please let me know,” the archon said. “I want to make sure it’ll work for both of their sakes. They’ve both been through a lot…”

"I do have a few ideas, with one that is rather promising. Just need to ask him if he is up for it." Aoife said, smiling.

“My poor Skathi… As much as I tease his situation… He needs to be free.” Brasa admitted.

“In that case, contact me when you have the information,” Tailtiu said before returning to Solis’s side.

Glacia, for her own part, took Yuki, Alvis and Shield into a hug, “I still am really sorry about everything… look, whatever happens going forward, we’ll do it together, right?”

“Together Glacia. As like our times in the Mystic Guardians.” Shield smiled.

“Fair enough…” Yuki nodded as she cuddled up on Glacia.

“I mean, I feel like I’m lagging behind a bit,” Alvis sighed, “But I’ll try my best to catch up…”

“I’m sure you will, Alv,” Glacia gave him a kiss. “Let’s all go home, okay? I think I’ve had enough for quite some time…”

Ruins of Ivrea's manor, Cohlane

"Stupid Twilight Court, taking damn near everything. It's not fair…" Ivrea grumbled as she walked the halls of her newly empty home, with the once vast collection housed in it's halls now scattered. She sighed as she looked towards a table in the parlor, with it holding a few small trinkets, a a worn spell book, and a large dragon plush. Though she wouldn't admit it, she was at least glad the court had left her with her most cherished magic items. Yet as she looked over the table she could hear loud footfalls ascending the front steps of her home…

The footsteps quieted some as they got closer, slowing down, entering her home and stopping entirely. There was a rap on a pillar just inside, and her visitor, a man, apparently, shouted out. “We need to talk.”

"About what? I had thought we were done talking after the fallout from your little heist…" Ivrea said matter of factly as she glared at the man, her tone being colder than usual.

We didn’t talk at all,” he pointed out. “... or if we did, I’ve forgotten it. I don’t particularly care what some council of out of touch gods does. They weren’t effected, either by your thieving, or… Emile.”

"Even there, you're kind of late to do anything there. Emile's dead and everything that I acquired has been returned, barring a few mementos…" Ivrea sighed as she looked towards the man, her tone softening "Let me guess….Glacia or Ky sent you here to lecture me?"

“No. In fact, I think they both believe I’m asleep at home,” Vlad said, walking further into the house. “I came on my own initiative. Is that really that surprising?”

"A little bit, given I thought you wouldn’t want anything to do with me." Ivrea remarked, "So, go on….Let me guess, you're going to tell me how terrible I am for the thieving right? Or how it upsets the harmony or how I am awful friend?"

Vlad didn’t say anything, holding up an opal carved like a heart, though it clearly wasn’t from any kind of animal. “Well, you do seem like kind of a shit friend, but that can be worked on. As for stealing, hardly. That’s what half of all adventures come down to. It’s less about taking things, and more about who from.”

"I….suppose it can be….You stole that from Asyn, didn't you? I had been hoping to acquire it, but I never could get into Mund to retrieve it." Ivrea said, smirking as her ears perked up, "So, should suggest stealing from them?"

“Well, not exactly what I’m getting at,” Vlad sighed. “First things first. No more stealing at all, for awhile. You promise that, and I have an offer for you.”

"It's not like I can really refuse at this point, not with Solis and Ky keeping a close eye on me." Ivrea sighed.

"That's an agreement, as far as I'm concerned. Kid, you ended up kind of raising yourself, didn't you? Not saying your parents didn't love you, but… they didn't get to teach you all that much, really, did they?" Vlad asked.

"Let's just say that my sister and I….didn't have time to be raised by our parents. We learned everything ourselves when we came of age." Ivrea sighed, a frown spreading across her face, "But…no, they didn't."

“Thought so. I recognize some of the behaviors,” the man sighed as well, running a hand through his hair. “I… shit, this is stupid. Listen, you can’t really stay here anymore, anyways. It’s a shit place and it’s godsdamned wrecked, yeah?”

"I really do hate to say it, but the place is too wrecked to inhabit…." Ivrea sighed out, "Damn it…."

“Yeah, well. Sorry,” Vlad said. “I mean, you never should’ve kept that sword, but I didn’t want to break your house, I just wanted my sword back. So, uh… I mean, you’re basically a kid, right? Keiko could use a friend. Like, an actual friend, around her age.”

"You could have asked for it back or…..Never mind. What's done is done." Ivrea grumbled, her ears perking up at Vlad's suggestion, "It….would not be wholly inaccurate to say that., Yes. Are…are you really sure you want me to stay with you all?"

Don’t tell people it was my idea. I don’t want to get hassled… but yeah, sure. Kid, you need someone in your life who can at least teach you what enemies are too dangerous to have, if you’re not gonna learn to stop taking things altogether. And, well… maybe what you really need is a father who can be around all the time, and I’ve got nothing on,” Vlad trailed off as he spoke, clearing his throat when he finished. “Uh, so. Yeah. If you’re willing to be Keiko’s friend, and don’t mind that there’s gonna be a baby soon, we’ve got a room for you.”

Ivrea giggled at Vlad's remarks, her tails waving behind her, "I…Sure. It's not like it could do any harm."

“Well, uh, great. You need to grab anything? I want to get back before people notice I’m not sleeping. This is cutting into my bookmarked two weeks after an incident,” Vlad sighed. “And uh… sorry about the house again. Really didn’t mean it.”

"Just what's on that table." Ivrea said as she placed the trinkets and plush into a small bag, all the while the book latched onto her hip. She gave the room one last look, shrugging at Vlad's comment, "Tell you what, you can help me restore it later. For now though, don't worry about it."

“Well, maybe, maybe you’ll want to stick around,” Vlad shrugged back, holding out his hand. “Come on, I’ll take you home.”

"Maybe….just maybe…" Ivrea said, taking Vlad's hand,

He squeezed her hand, taking a step forward, and the two left the manner in Dal Riata, arriving in Vlad and Narris’ cabin in the Trinity realm near instantly. Vlad cracked his neck, squeezing her hand before letting it go. “There’s a guest room, I think, you can take it for now, until we,” he yawned for a solid thirty seconds. “Until we get something more permanent for you. For clothes and stuff… well, I’m sure Narris knows how to help with that…”

"I…Thanks. I think that should be perfect for now. Oh and you don't need to worry about clothes for….I did bring a whole wardrobe with me." Ivrea said, patting her spell book.

Vlad yawned again as he nodded, patting Ivrea on the back. “Good for you. I really do need to sleep for a couple of weeks now, so… get along with Keiko, do what Narris tells you, if she starts uh… you know what, you’re prolly too young, don’t worry about it. I’ll see about what kind of stuff we can do when I’m a bit more lucid.”

"Uh…Yeah I will keep that in mind." Ivrea giggled as she gave Vlad a smile, "Hey ..um…Thanks, I guess. Maybe once you're up, we…could go do something…"

“I can teach you,” he yawned. “How to not need a spellbook, maybe… well, that’d take awhile. Maybe we can start with something simpler. Maybe you can try helping Keiko while I sleep? Teaching is a good way to learn.”

"Yeah, it is. Dunno how much I'll help her, but I can try.” Ivrea remarked

“Good,” Vlad nodded, leaving the room, but turning to look at her for a moment. “... I hope this helps you, and us too,” he said, leaving.

Though small in comparison to the realms of Brasa and the Warrior Trinity, the demiplane of Aoife was nonetheless quite large in its own right. The realm appeared to be divided into sections, one a seemingly endless library containing Aoife's vast collection of tomes, books, and other works. By contrast, the other half of the realm appeared to be a mix of workshop for the goddess as well as her residence. Any onlooker could see half finished constructs, intricate glyphs, and floating orbs neatly arrayed north of a large lake. To the south of the lake lay a small icy manor house, guarded by ice elementals.

The sound of gears turning filled the air around the library, as clockwork creatures roamed seemingly endless rows of colossal bookshelves. The constructs gingerly placed and reorganized everything from ancient scrolls to holobooks, treating each with the utmost care. The machines performed their work tirelessly as Aoife watched on, scrutinizing their every minute motion. The goddess sighed as she watched one of the constructs stumble, all the while dropping a weathered scroll onto the library floor. "Still not quite up to speed are you, Roma? Do not worry, I will make sure to fine tune your servos before the next batch of tomes arrive." Aoife remarked, all the while the construct whirred happily. Yet Aoife did not respond, her attention fixed on the bridge leading to her workshop. Her lips formed into a frown as she saw a blue haired elf crossing the bridge, getting quite close to her. "I wish I could say I am happy to see you, but that would be a lie given why you're here," Aoife remarked, snapping her fingers as a small table and two chairs appeared for the pair.

The blue-haired elf did not have her usual smile, nor did she wear her usual blue outfits, instead opting for a light silver armor; her eyes shone bright gold. Most people would call her Glacia Invernos, but today she lay dormant, allowing the other side to take control fully. “Aoife.” The elf sat down, “Indeed, I would’ve preferred a visit to your realm under different circumstances, but we need to talk about what happened.”

Before Aoife could respond, a pink haired woman poked her head around the corner, eyes flying between the two. "Um… Aoife…"

Aoife sighed, her white and blue dress ruffling as she took a seat. She beckoned Glacia, no, her father, to sit down at the table as well. Looking to Rosa as well, she spoke, "Rosa, come join us if you will, given this involves you too. As for you dad, I hate that we have to discuss this….but there's no avoiding it after the gala. So, speak your mind and ask whatever you wish to know."

Rosa entered the room, quietly moving to stand behind Aoife, her hands bunching up her red dress revealing her anxiety. "Nice to see you again… Skathi?”

Skathi looked up, before sighing, “You know what… no, I need to do something. Glacia, you are okay with it, right?” The elf stood in silence, before nodding, “Alright, then…” using a magic spell, the elf’s facial features changed as her hair became white, her face altering as her features became… not exactly more masculine, but still different than before, and the skin becoming less pale. Tying up the hair, Skathi sat down again, “There we go,” he looked his daughter straight in the eye, “Now, Aoife. Tell me about how Rosa came into your service.”

"As I said…I created Rosa by implanting Roland's soul into that of an azata I had been working with. I had been hoping to use it as a means to resurrect Roland as he was, but I made a few errors in the process…" Aoife said, giving a pained look to Rosa before returning her gaze to Skathi, "Given I couldn't very well leave her without guidance, I took her into my service as a confidant and as my protector."

Skathi’s frown grew larger, “So it is true; this is indeed Roland.” A pained expression emerged as he looked at Rosa, “Aoife, what have you done? Didn’t you think before doing something like that?”

"I… I'm sorry, but who is Roland?" Rosa interrupted, a hand to her head. "I am Rosa! It was a shock to discover Lady Aoife created me, apparently, but I am still me!"

"N-not as much as I should have if I am being honest. Admittedly, I had been so blinded by my desire to bring him back that…Well, I did not consider the ramifications of it." Aoife said, her eyes looking down as she avoided her father's gaze, "He is, or rather was, my husband, Rosa…..as well as the man from whom your soul is taken."

Skathi facepalmed with a sigh, “Aoife… dammit all, I thought I taught you better than this. Don’t you remember what happened to my sister? She ended up losing all sense of self after that. Not to mention what happened to me when my soul was bound to this…” he looked at his side, Tizona there, “... sword… it could’ve been far worse for Roland if you weren’t lucky.”

"What was I supposed to do, Dad? Just leave him to pass into Aura or Airius's realm where I could see him rarely…if at all? Or just accept that I might not be able to be with him again?" Aoife retorted, her eyes narrowing at her father, "I understand your reservations about, but this iorlds apart from whmt happened to Aunt Tai. Let alone what happened to you…"

“IT IS NOT,” Skathi raised his voice, “Aoife, putting one’s soul in an unsuited body can cause irreparable damage to it! Why do you think I have had such difficulty with Glacia here? My soul is not suited to this mind and body, not to mention being in a sword for Gods knows how long! What you could’ve done is perhaps actually talk to Aura about this. He might’ve been willing to give you the soul, and work to restore him with you. He is part of the same pantheon as you, he is obligated to cooperate! Honestly, was I the only person in this entire family who actually understood this sort of thing?”

"Don't!" Rosa interrupted, gripping her head tightly. "Don't yell at her! Don't yell at milady!"

"Dad…Do you honestly think Aura would have given up a soul to a mere mortal? Odds are he would have brushed off my request, keeping Roland in his realm for God's knows how long. No…it was better to preserve what I could of Roland after his death, then try to bring him back in as a similar of body as I could." Aoife responded, anger seeping into her voice, "No, you were not. I understood the risks that accompanied it, but ..well they seemed minimal at the time."

"... Aoife, what does that mean? Preserve what you could of Roland? A… similar body?..." Rosa took an involuntary step backwards, fingers digging into her forehead. "Aoife… what am I?..."

"Rosa?! Are you alright?!" Aoife cried as she rushed to the azata's side, placing a hand on her shoulder to support her, "You are my beloved celestial and lover, Rosa. As for what it means….well it meant I had wanted to…save my husband if I could…but since, it failed…I.."

"I'm… just a cheap replacement?… A failed experiment?" Rosa stared at Aoife, hyperventilating, tears starting to fall, before wrenching herself free from the goddesses grasp, wings forming on her back as the azata tore out the door, spiraling off before plane shifting to who knew where.

"You are not a cheap replacement….Damn it…" Aoife growled as she felt the Azata slip away.

“Rol-” Skathi said, before the azata left, “Dammit… I just wanted to see if I could jog some memories into him, but I didn’t expect all of this…” he buried his face in his hands, “Aoife… I’m sorry. If only I was around, maybe I could’ve helped you sort through this…”

"This could have been entirely avoided had you not pushed the matter. Damn it, dad…." Aoife cursed, all the while the constructs behind her moved to tend to their mistress, " I…I just…I .Damn it…all.."”

Skathi’s scowl faded as he moved to give his daughter a hug, “I… this form is causing my aggression to rise, and my frustration must’ve caused me to lash out. … don’t worry, we’ll be able to find Rol- erm, Rosa. But please, you don’t need to do this all alone.”

Aoife said nothing as she cling closely to her father, burying her head in his chest as she sobbed. Skathi could hear his daughter whimpering, all the while the tears flowed forth unceasingly.

Skathi tried his best to wipe away the tears, all the while dealing with his own frustrations at this. If he wasn’t sharing a headspace with Glacia, maybe this could’ve been avoided…
