Concerned about a neighbouring capitalist, anti-communist power that is prepared to invade other countries with ideologies they don’t like (as they did with Norway),
the Workers Conciliar Republic of Greater Thamesholm has devised a plan to invade The King Isle and re-establish communism.

Chairman John “Chairman Jack” Michael, chairman of the Assembly of Workers’ Councils and leader of the Democratic Communist Party has decided to invade.
The Radical Marxist Party supports this but the Christian Labour Party does not.

Due to campaigns citing the risk of invasion of their own country, 55.5% of the public approve of the war. Support is especially strong in North Thamesholm coastal communities (nearer to England and thus to Northumbria and The King Isle), merchant sailors, the traditional working-class and the armed forces.

Two aircraft carriers (totalling 1,495 sailors and 32 aircraft), protected by a total of 10 submarines head out on the channel to The King Isle.

The Han Caliphate also declares war against Greater Thamesholm. A recruitment drive for young people aged 15.5 to 17
to join the armed forces takes place (with the rules changed so that youths can be deployed in the Navy from age 16)
and the reserve officers are called up as are the Aarhus Navy and Aarhus Militia.

Greater Thamesholm has taken into account “the imperialists Turkmen Emirate’s invasion.”
Their propaganda fixates on the “terrible injustices committed by the monarchist regime ”:

- The practice of indentured servitude (“slavery under another name”).

- The deportation of gay men and radical feminists (“women’s rights activists”).

- The poor quality of high school education for the majority under a system of selective state schools.

- The death penalty for smuggling more than 12 units of alcohol (“they kill those who import a few beers”).

- the expansion of the Turkmen Emirate which occupies part of Denmark.
(“Imperialists, murderers!”).

- the ban on women assuming the throne.


In addition, Greater Thamesholm has instituted the death penalty as an option for espionage and “leading an imperialist war”.

The Greater Thamesholm Concilliar Republic actives all auxiliary and reserve units. It also drafts laws to require some form of wartime national service of everyone under 60.

These laws are currently being debated.

IC:The referendum’s result are in with the vast majority supporting such a move, everyone aged 6-60 has to register for some form of important work.

Military service is compulsory for males aged 16-39 years old except those in reserved occupations (such as medicine, nursing, law enforcement, firefighting and agriculture).
Those under 18.5 years old will be guaranteed education or training during their national service.

The Ministry of War Transport has taken over the shipping and cruise fleets and public transport whilst many other workers’ cooperatives and one-person businesses have been attached to other ministries.

The Navy meanwhile prepare to transport troops across the English Channel through territories in the North Sea owned by Nationalist Northumbria, to Scotland.
