OOC: Permission to post here.
To: Signatories of The Global Confederation of Nations and World Parliament Participants. Dear World Parliamentarians of the Global Confederation of Nations, On behalf of His Imperial & Royal Majesty Emperor JC, Imperial Marshal of the Imperion Coalition - and of course the eleven member nations of the Imperion Coalition I am representing today - it is my honor to give a reply to the honorable Drakonk representative. To bluntly answer with utmost haste, the Imperion Coalition does not stand for nor with democracy as an institution. It in fact is rivaled to it. I'll explain why now. Democracy is the direct antithesis to traditional monarchic and imperialist cultures Imperion Coalition members hail from. Democracies are governments controlled directly by the people based entirely on majority rule. Other systems may appear similar in nature, but direct democracies for example decide their matters through majority rule via voting procedures. A traditional empire or monarchy does not follow such a system where the citizens may simply overrule the monarch or emperor. It is not rare to find such institutions within monarchies/empires however, such as the Empire who's civilian government is federalized into becoming republican in nature, but at the helm making the final decisions sits the Emperor who rules as he sees fit. Both systems are different, but not entirely repulsed by each other. So while a democracy could elect an official directly, a monarchy could as easily appoint an individual to the position they saw as beneficial to the nation. In our traditional worldview, an emperor or monarch sits at the very top not just because of their qualifications, but because of the responsibilities placed upon their shoulders. Just as democracy's highest leaders are elected into their responsibilities, our leaders are born into their exhaustive list of responsibilities. Both leaders may shoulder the weight of a nation, but only one of these leaders truly embodies his country's image in our opinion. A monarch failing his people fails at being a proper monarch, or so the saying goes. Finite majority rule is not the largest factor in a monarchist society, it's traditional norms and responsibilities that guide monarchs on their paths forward. So to summarize, the Imperion Coalition is absolutely not in favor of democracy. Democracies have the tendency to place the heads of monarchs into baskets by force historically. Not to mention tyrannies don't always have to originate from monarchies and empires, so many of the criticisms leveled from democracies that state our kind are despotic falls on deaf ears; it should be made clear that there's a clear difference between authoritarians such as despotic military dictatorships and say the rightful Emperor of TECT. While we tolerate democracies and republics whom pose no threat or malice, I should make it very clear this Coalition cares little for democratic nations and detests much of the democratic movement as a whole - for individual member nations these viewpoints will differ. Imperion itself is Marshaled by HIRM the Emperor, not elected leader by the Coalition nor are our Marshals a group of elected officials from the Coalition. Representatives such as myself act as representation within the Coalition and have a number of roles we play within the Coalition. Although we may not be the final decision maker, Representatives and the Assembly Hall make it so our nations are heard and listened to. At the end of the day all matters must pass the Imperial Marshal's desk in approval. The key to keeping this organization afloat is respecting and adhering to the responsibilities placed upon us by our fellow member nations. Though I must say as an outside observer that questioning our viewpoints on democracy is puzzling. Namely because according to what is listed, the Global Confederation of Nations is affiliated with the Glorious Communist Empire, an alliance of communist nations. Oxymoronic as their name is, their description literally states their goal is to "protect workers rights and bring forward the Revolution." That revolution is clearly aimed at certain entities historically, and they are controlled by a supreme leader whom I am sure is not a fan of democracy. It was my impression, as was His Majesty's, that the GCN was a diverse centralized hub of alliances that accepted non-democracies into its ranks and thus would be open to diplomatic relations that would be beneficial to both the Coalition and GCN. We were unaware that democratic principles were of vital importance within GCN. Regardless, I hope to have provided a satisfactory answer to the Drakonk delegation's inquiry concerning the Imperion Coalition. If there are further questions I would be happy to answer them as well. If not, the Coalition awaits your body's official response in due time. Thank you. Sincerely, Representative Kevin Mayer of TECT HIRM Emperor JC, Imperial Marshal of the Imperion Coalition The Imperion Coalition. |
