Survive Sherechia: Earthquake in Sakhatkhorgo [IC/OPEN]

Salman arrives in Chisun palace, the rain had stopped and the fog has lifted out of the valley. He stands at the bottom of the hill leading to the top of the palace. There is a paved road that leads to the top or a stone staircase with over 200 steps. The white walls of the palace radiate across the city and give a divine aura that is unfortunately shattered by how loud and busy the street below is with food vendors and traffic.

He looks at the fascinating palace, and takes a selfie with his phone. Then he takes a look a the ancient artifacts, which looks amazing. He takes a picture of it, but without the flash of course, as it says “DO NOT USE THE FLASH WHILE TAKING FOTOGRAPHS” on the sign. He takes the pictures and heads back to the hotel. The noise of the city comes back, and he looks at the pictures on his phone. When he return to the hotel, he lies on his bed, excausted and tired.

Fortunately, both the rain and fog disappeared relatively quickly. Chisun Palace along with the Kekudo and Narasando peaks are visible. The air is still cold though despite sunlight now illuminating the valley.

After resting a few minutes, Francine decided to go out for a walk, taking advantage of the clearing of the sky. Noticing that the temperatures have dropped a bit, she puts on a feather jacket to protect herself from the cold.
Armed with a camera, she leaves the hotel and walks through the streets of Sakhatkhorgo.

The Namandak Fault, a 120 km long, 25 km deep strike-slip fault stretching east to west had reached its breaking point. 12 km beneath the surface of the mountains east of Sakhatkhorgo. The 2 rock faces slip. The northern side of the fault violently shifted east while the southern side shifted west releasing a catastrophic amount of seismic energy, this would repeat throughout the entire length of the fault with some sections moving as far as 6 meters.

As Orion hikes around the area, oblivious of the action going on underneath him and the fact that his phone cannot receive an earthquake early warning. He continues hiking across the cold, rocky landscape when he hears a loud rumble, followed by the ground violently moving side to side. A nearby seismic station records: 1.43 g's of horizontal acceleration. The shaking would last for a minute. He is the closest character to the epicenter.

The 5 story office building in front of the restaurant collapses, hitting powerlines and bringing those down, blocking the street and igniting a wooden house nearby on fire. The shaking would continue for another 90 seconds. A nearby seismic station records 0.69 g of horizontal acceleration

The entire room suddently drops by a single floor and leans 20 degrees into the street. The room, while covered in dust is intact. The 1st floor of the building has collapsed and is crushed by the upper floors of the building. A nearby seismic station records 0.93 g of horizontal acceleration.

Traffic grinds to a halt. 20 seconds later the ground violently moves side to side. Many are knocked off their feet and others find it very difficult to keep standing. A large sign falls from it's frame on the 6th floor of some building and crashes into the sidewalk. 50 seconds in and the ground is still shaking. It is now possible to stand up but a 10 story office building, 100 meters from where Francine is suddently collapses into a cloud of dust. Cracks appear on the sidewalk and it looks like waves are rippling down the road. A nearby seismic station records 0.89 g of horizontal acceleration.

Babaev, coming from another earthquake prone country, got up after sitting down to counter the shaking, and then went to check on the restaurant, he had begun to clean it up and saw the owner seriously injured and another customer with some scratches. Babaev would run over to the chemist nearby and see if he could find a doctor, in which he did as the dr needed a prescription filled for themselves, and asked the dr to help him. Babaev was told to bring them out of the building w/o moving them out of their positions, and he did as told. He'd then go over and find a hose to dampen the surrounding buildings near the burning one. He'd then find the fire dept coming and offered some assistance but was turned down to avoid too much chaos. Babaev would then check on his driver and the car, and would find the cars passenger windows cracked due to falling debris, but the driver got out as soon as he felt shaking.

Francine's lungs were on fire and she couldn't see because of the dust raised by the building that had just collapsed. She couldn't understand what had just happened.
A few seconds ago she had seen some Sherechians looking at their cell phones at the same time and moving towards the center of the street. Then the world began to shake with a series of earthquakes. The woman had fallen to her knees at the first powerful movement of the ground and, in a state of shock, at the arrival of the second earthquake.
Then some buildings collapsed that had flooded it with dust and rubble. Fortunately, she hadn't been hit by any crumbling rubble but now she was completely white from the plaster and was struggling to breathe, coughing heavily. Plus she was also half blinded. She could feel his eyes redden and water.
Around her, Francine could only hear screams but could not see anyone, both for the dust that still hovered and for the tears that veiled her eyes. She groped to move towards the center of the road in search of any other living things, but tripped over a crack in the ground. She fell forward, hitting her face on the ground. She could taste the blood dripping from her nose and into her mouth, mixing with the dust.
Panicked by now, she started screaming, asking for help in French. But his voice confounded with that of other desperate human beings.

A bucket of water won't be enough to extinguish this fire. The strong winds of the valley did not help. Someone tried to call the fire department but the phone network is overloaded. Not that it matter since the streets are blocked with debris. So much so that no fire truck could enter. There was dust all over the place as multiple buildings have collapsed nearby. At the distance, a brown ash cloud was seen due to the landsides occurring at the edges of the city.

Unfortunately, one of those buildings happened to be the 6 story Chonamkao hospital. The city's largest hospital which collapsed in a very peculiar way. The first floor is intact but all the other floors collapsed. Another building, the 4 story Karakhaido mall had its 2nd-floor collapse with every other floor being mostly intact. Fortunately, the bus system was mostly intact since most of the bus lanes and stations are located in the middle of the road, clear of any collapsing buildings. Just minutes after the earthquake, the buses were running, offering free rides for the victims.

A young male Sherechian in his late 20s approaches Francine and asks in fluent French,"are you Ok?" He just returned from learning Chemistry in France and is very fluent in the language.

Babaev would find a room that was untouched by dust and discover a few face masks to put on to prevent pollutants from getting into his lungs, he'd also begin to find ways to get out of the location and get into a more open area. Due to having gotten a phone with a satillite based connection, he'd be able to map his way around the city allowing him to find detours. His goal would be getting to a more distant airport.

I get up from the ground after the shaking and check myself for injuries thankfully i am scot free so i decide to hike to the city to help the others.

As Orion hikes to the city. He sees the culprit of the earthquake. He sees a fence that has been torn apart. With one side being 5 meters from the other side. It's getting dark and Sakhatkhorgo is still 30 Km away. Fortunately, that fence happened to be part of a farm. The farm and the small village it is in is relatively undamaged from the quake.

"Yes a really big earthquake just happen, it is quite funny" the kid said. William has landed in Lankar city. a Lakeside city in Laktsai prefecture 270 km from Sakhatkhorgo. The earthquake has caused little damage here but all train and plane services to Sakhatkhorgo have been terminated. The only way to the city is by road and even then there is no guarantee that the roads are in good condition.

Lankar city itself is your typical Sherechian town. It has all the basic amenities that a city of 45,000 people would have. It is heavily reliant on fishing due to being on the lakeshore.

When he exits the building, he sees that all the buildings near him have been destroyed.

"Find the nearest hospital that's actually intact."

"Well Mister (Babaev), I hope you don't mind a detour. Get in, we will find you a doctor."

The fluent in french Sherechian and Francine enter the rear of the car. Travel is slow, however. The streets are filled with debris, people and dead people.

"Bloody hell mate, this reminds me of the 2004 Sherechian earthquake," says the driver. "To be fair, that earthquake lasted longer but this one was a bit more violent. "

He gets the mattress from his bed and throws it to the bottom. He jumps to the bottom and survives with just a few bruises. When he exits the building, he sees that all the buildings near him have been destroyed.

However, things were about to get even worse for Salman. A 9 story office building that did not collapse from the initial event finally decided that it is its time. Salman hears a loud rumbling noise. The building next to his former hotel collapses as a cloud of dust comes right after Salman.

Babaev is traveling down the main street of Sakhatkhorgo when a Sherechian waves his hand to Babaev's car. The driver pulls over and opens the window.

"Find the nearest hospital that's actually intact."

"Well Mister (Babaev), I hope you don't mind a detour. Get in, we will find you a doctor."

The fluent in french Sherechian and Francine enter the rear of the car. Travel is slow, however. The streets are filled with debris, people and dead people.

"Bloody hell mate, this reminds me of the 2004 Sherechian earthquake," says the driver. "To be fair, that earthquake lasted longer but this one was a bit more violent. "

In french, babaev describes what he's doing and tells her to take some of this cough medicine and examines her nose as it looks off. The nose is just a little sore from all the dust in the air and Francine is given a mask to wear that'll keep it from being further inflamed. On route to the hospital, Babaev would stop at a small market still standing and buy 1L water bottles for everyone and some non perishables to eat. Theyd then arrive at the hospital a while later.

My character, a bizarre giant reptillian "bird" (that suspiciously has arms), wanders into the ruins of the city, hoping to scrounge for a good meal. The "bird" approaches a house's backyard, fences surrounding it having been knocked down, and notices that the glass sliding door to the house has been demolished.

After the earthquake, Salman immediately jumps from his bed and takes his earthquake kit. He knows that Sherechia is an earthquake prone country, so he prepared for an earthquake. He looks at his computer, which is broken. He runs to the door. Just as he is gonna run down the stairs, he realizes that the stairs have collapsed. He gets an idea. He gets the mattress from his bed and throws it to the bottom. He jumps to the bottom and survives with just a few bruises. When he exits the building, he sees that all the buildings near him have been destroyed.

However, things were about to get even worse for Salman. A 9 story office building that did not collapse from the initial event finally decided that it is its time. Salman hears a loud rumbling noise. The building next to his former hotel collapses as a cloud of dust comes right after Salman.

Salman is shocked at the sight. He thinks how many people have died there. Just as he’s going to go, he hears a faint noise. He goes near it and sees a teenage girl, extremely injured. He lifts her up. She is still conscious. She contunies whining as Salman decides to go to the Chisun Palace because his brochure he got from a “Visit Sakhatkhorgo” stand near the airplane told that the Chisun Palace has survived many earthquakes.
