RESOLUTION 001: ON NATO-UF TENSIONS

to formally set forward the stance of the Council on rising NATO-UF tensions, which could destabilize world peace

SECTION 1: SHORT NAME
This resolution may be referred to as the 'Joint Council Resolution on NATO-UF Tensions'.

SECTION 2: THE NATO-UF CRISIS
Henceforth the NATO-UF CRISIS shall be the word used to describe rising tensions between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the United Federation.

SECTION 3: STANCE OF THE COUNCIL
(Subsection 1) The Council, RECOGNIZING the seriousness of the NATO-UF Crisis, UNDERSTANDING the possible threat to world peace and security, REALIZING the need to act diplomatically to end the crisis, FIRMLY BELIEVING in the principles of diplomacy and solidarity, hereby:

(1.2.) requests that both parties agree to a mutually accepted treaty which,
(1.2.1) recognizes the national sovereignty of all parties involved
(1.2.2) pledges to de-escalate the crisis through diplomatic means
(1.2.3) promises to begin renewed co-operation between NATO and the UF
(1.3) invites both parties to attend a second summit hosted by the Council of Nations with the aim of:
(1.3.1) developing a sense of solidarity and unity between NATO and the UF
(1.3.2) eliminating animosity between the two parties
(1.3.3) ensuring the summit is hosted with a friendly atmosphere

SYLVIA HOLMES, CNP Ambassador to the CN: "Feel free to comment or voice your disapproval or approval."

Ambassador Frank Williams, leading representative to the Council: “I disapprove of Resolution #1 in it's current form. I believe it is little more than another piece of munitions against each other for the UF and NATO. They could, in my mind, accuse the other of breaking the resolution, therefore escalating the conflict. Even if that doesn't occur, I feel it a waste of paper to sign much a none binding piece of legislation into law.”

Ambassador Frank Williams: “Well, Mrs. Holmes, it is my opinion that a resolution on the crisis should be made, of course, but that it would be best if we scrapped the current proposal for a more binding and thorough resolution.”

Rep. Ankov: Well, I have to agree with the South Olpen delegate on this one. It seems that it will not completely stop the rivalry or tensions between the 2 sides

Ambassador Sylvia Holmes: "I see, I see. Excluding the use of military force, what would you or Mister Williams here suggest? Perhaps the Council could broker a treaty between the two? Since to me it seems the problem is not the countries but their representatives. If the Council were to act as a broker, this issue would be removed."
