Come, ye scurvy land-lubbers and mermaids, to Broodeheim and its harbour on the sixth of November in the year 2021 – the briney deep holds only so much for lily-livered scallywags like ye, so follow your binnacle and yer common sense. Many a ship will be there, in the Old Town Harbour and in the Marinas, for ye to admire.
And if not, maybe yer coxswain steer ye towards the taverns and watering holes along the shore or ye rather dance to fiddle and song – or maybe a fair maiden catches yer eye?
So, ye shark bait, what are ye waiting for?!

Hello and welcome to A Harbour for Weary Souls!
This RP is a harbour festival in the city of Broodeheim in Ridderli, a tropical paradise and a warm place, so ideal for everyone interested in ships to take a little vacation from the winter, which might be back home. What awaits you is fun, adventure, song, dance, drink, ships from all over the world and with guests from all over the place.
You will also see a demonstration match in Chokana-Kata (think Girls and Panzer but with boats), concerts of various kinds and a few other fun things – and, of course, your characters can find their own ways to have fun, too. You also have the chance to bring your own ships (please see the rules for details), maybe even host an event of your own aboard (again, please see the rules for details).
You may also notice in the app, that I don't ask for an RP-sample this time around. This is meant to give newer players a chance to participate as well.

As mentioned, we need...

1. No Godmodding, Meta-Gaming or similar stuff. No exceptions.

1.1. If you believe, that such an instance, or a breach of any other rule, is occuring, bring it to attention here on this OOC in a calm manner.
1.2. ALL NPCs are controlled by me, mostly due to cultural particularities. No exceptions.
1.3. For convenience, I will play all characters from my nations from this account. For those needing a list...
1.4. Be polite, at least on the OOC.
2. I am the OP, my word is the law. I reserve the right to add to this list of rules or to amend rules if necessary. I also reserve the right to deny any application.
3. IC on the IC-thread, OOC on the OOC-thread.
4. Permitted Characters:

4.1. No high ranking government or military officials. This is a festival for normal people to enjoy, not a diplomatic summit. There is one exception to this rule (Mervay was invited to bring his character Queen Callista for plot-reasons and incognito), but no further exceptions then that.
4.2. Keep in mind, that your characters are under the right and law of the Republic of Ridderli. That includes a ban on all automatic firearms and all ammunition, which is not a wadcutter or paint bullet in private hands (and your people will be there as private persons, end of discussion). If I catch anyone posting anything contradicting this rule, his or her character will be mauled to death by one-eyed parrots. And there will be no escape. No exception.
4.3. Appearance of your character, a.k.a. Valid Passport Photo. Please choose pictures, that are SFW and where your character is easily identifiable. Anime-Pictures are allowed, but are under the same restrictions. You can also write a description of him or her. And it does not have to be a passport photo. Please use a maximum size of 550 by 550 pixels or hotlink and please do not spoiler.
4.4. Non-Humans: Non-Human Humanoids are permitted, the rest is not. No magic (and no, I don't care, what you call it).

Two exceptions: Shipgirls/Kanmusu/Kansen and Witches of the Strike Witches kind.
4.5. Original characters only. You can use the pictures of whoever you like (God knows, I do), but the characters themselves need to be original. No exceptions.
4.6. One character, one app. No exceptions.
4.7. If you have a number of characters, do not play them as an amorphous blob. No exceptions.
4.7. Please keep in mind, that the Old Town Area, including the Old Town Harbour, is a pedestrian zone. While horses are permitted (and will be encountered), cars are not. No exceptions.

5. Ships.

5.1. No active military vessels.

Three kinds of exceptions: Research vessels operated by the military, sail training ships and museum ships. However, the latter kind is limited to light cruisers and below (the definition of the London Naval Treaty of 1930 applies).
5.2. Vessels in general are limited to a draft/draught of nine meters (the limit of the Old Town Harbour). Yachts may be parked in one of the marinas as long as their draft/draught does not exceed seven meters. No exceptions.
5.3. No nuclear vessels. No exceptions.
5.4. If you want to host an event aboard or on the quayside nearby, note so in your app.
5.5. Seaplanes and amphibious aircraft are allowed, but please note so in your app.
5.6. You don't have to bring a ship along or host something aboard. However, if you want to bring a ship, you also need to bring a character.
5.7. To indicate, that you read and understood the rules, please answer the question of “Have you read and understood the rules?” with “Drink up, me hearties, yo-ho!”

6. No murders. Violence only if all involved agree to it.

6.1. Security will be provided by the Republic, if needed by one-eyed parrot. If you feel the need for your characters to have a bodyguard out in the open or something of that kind, it's most likely a breach of Rule 4.1.. No exceptions.
6.2. The Handmaidens' Rule applies: The character is permitted to have a servant/handmaiden/interpreter along, with his or her own app, who may or may not have a side job and the training as a bodyguard, but formally isn't. However, Rules 4.1. and 4.2. still apply.

7. No military actions, declarations of war or similar stuff. No exceptions.
8. Try to avoid oneliners. I know, that it can't be avoided sometimes, but please put a bit of effort into this RP.
9. If you have questions for me or other players, ask. That's what this OOC is for!
10. The IC will start on the 6th of November. At that point, all of your characters, ships and so, and so on will already be in Broodeheim. We don't need to go through the entire rounds of arrival in the Republic and transporting everything and so on and so on.
11. COVID: COVID is a thing, that exists. Many people in Ridderli are either vaccinated or recovered, there is already a herd immunity. You characters will either be vaccinated or recovered. They will not bring a new variant. Wearing of face masks is not mandatory, but encouraged in small areas and shop owners may ask their customers to wear a face mask. No exceptions.[/list]

I meant to say something about both that and 6.1 but just had a brain fart. To wit: would one bodyguard in civilian clothes, ostensibly serving as a friend of the family/servant/something else and potentially not packing heat in order to comply with 4.2 (as the Gardae carry Walther PPKs and I don't know whether you're extending the gun rule to semiauto) be acceptable, or is 6.1 too ironclad?

It took two assassination attempts before she took up defensive shooting; Martin was also assigned round-the-clock protection from the Visayan Marshals Service up until three months after the leadership of GDC was served several consecutive life sentences. As for the armament, considering, that we have a literal demonstration of Sensha-Do with Boats, including guns, she can keep her guns - add in, that the only people aboard will be her own crew, it's alright.
