ANNOUNCEMENTS/NEWS THREAD

Welcome to the announcements thread for the Esportivan Union. This thread serves as the headquarters for the Esportivan Union, as well as where the Union delivers regular press releases on events going on around the globe. This thread is CLOSED - Please refrain from posting here unless you are a Mod performing duties or if you have been granted explicit permission to do so.

What is the Esportivan Union?

The Esportivan Union is a pan-Esportivan alliance focusing on improving co-operation between members of the region Esportiva. While, for now, a political alliance, there are plans to expand it to encompass a Common Market, and to bring all of Esportiva closer together, building a closer, more united Esportiva on the world stage.

How do I join?

You must be a member of the region Esportiva, and have been a member of the region for at least twenty-eight days to sign up. Then, proceed to the signup thread (Coming Soon!) to fill in the application to join. The Union is dedicated to ensuring the values of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights amongst its ranks; and extends a hand of friendship to any like-minded nation in Esportiva to join its ranks.

Esportivan Union Statement on Events in Nyowani Kitara

1. The Esportivan Union is deeply concerned by the ongoing violence and conflict in Nyowani Kitara.

2. As concerned nations, we believe it is imperative to protect human rights and practice non-violent ways of resolving conflicts.

3. We call on all sides to agree to an immediate ceasefire and begin the process of solving their disagreements around the negotiating table. We call on the NKPWC, the DFLK, and the KFF to respect human rights, show genuine leadership, and protect their people rather than engaging in unnecessary bloodshed.

4. Given that this conflict has the potential to spill across national borders and affect the Pavolan region and greater Rushmore, we especially believe that action must be taken. We call on all sides to lay down their arms and agree to mediation by the Common Rushmori Community. We further encourage all Rushmori states, but especially regional neighbors, to refrain from armed intervention, which can only exacerbate the conflict.

5. This is not a conflict that may be won by arms alone, nor one that merely concerns Nyowani Kitara. This is about democracy, freedom, the rule of law, and human rights, which affect all nations. Only a regional organisation, like the CRC, can be an impartial broker and help resolve this conflict in a way that takes into account what is best not only for all Nyowani Kitarans, but for all of the region.

6. We urge all nations who wish to see this conflict end to consider a coordinated sanctions regime against individuals, corporations, and nations that funnel arms into this conflict, as the Esportivan Union may find necessary should the need arise.

7. To avoid human suffering in the short term, the Esportivan Union Foreign Aid Commission will be sending in-kind aid to Nyowani Kitarans, and we encourage all like-minded nations to do the same.

8. Only when all of Nyowani Kitara’s citizens feel safe can the process of building a free and open society begin.

Esportivan Union Statement on Joint Humanitarian Task Force to Nyowani Kitara

We have watched with increasing concern as the situation in Nyowani Kitara continues to spiral out of control. The region has become a battleground, if not a testing area, for a seemingly unending parade of nations to run guns, send troops, fund either rebels or the KPWC government, and generally turn a blind eye to the suffering of the Nyowani Kitaran people. Numerous watchdog groups have reported the severe shortage of doctors and teachers to provide civilian medical care and education as every resource is drawn into this quagmire of a conflict.

The Esportivan Union’s first concern, whether in affairs internal or external, is for human rights and the alleviation of suffering. It was with that end in mind that we pledged not to exacerbate the conflict by supporting one side or the other, but to provide humanitarian aid for the people of Nyowani Kitara. It is now apparent that in-kind aid is not enough to staunch the flow of Kitaran suffering. The time has come for direct intervention. With the failure of the leaders of the international and regional community to broker a peaceful end to hostilities, the Esportivan Union will now commit to sending humanitarian aid workers from our nations to help the Kitaran people.

-From Damukuni, 225 Damukunian Red Cross Workers, 150 educators (60 post-secondary, 90 primary and secondary). Additionally, 20 infrastructure experts from NEBUS and the Damukunian FHWA will assess the environmentally-acceptable construction of suitable roads and railroads for passengers and freight, with the aim of constructing a transport network between land-based humanitarian aid sites.

-From Grearia, 100 teachers from NGOs and 250 doctors of the Grearish Army Medical Corps, both supervised by a Colonel-rank medical officer as mission head. The Grearish shall be bringing their own medical equipment and shall be unarmed.

-From the Licentian Isles, 200 medical personnel from the Licentian Navy, a ship commandeered from the Licentian Merchant Marine to serve as a floating hospital, and LMM personnel to maintain the ship.

-From Nova Anglicana, 200 men and women of the Anglican Service Corps, divided evenly between education providers and medical workers.

-From South Newlandia, 150 men and woman from the official South Newlandian Emergency Aid Corps, including education providers, medical workers, and translators.

-From Tumbra, 100 doctors from the Tumbran Army Medical Corps

We have received assurances from all Kitaran belligerents that Esportivan Union personnel shall not be subject to harassment or violence. Given these assurances and our intentions not to further inflame the conflict, no soldiers from our respective countries shall be landed in Kitaran territory. Our personnel have no intention of participating in the conflict nor giving aid or succour to belligerents. Our concern is with the people of Nyowani Kitara. We are here to provide some small semblance of normality, an oasis of care and concern for civilians in the midst of a horrific civil war. It is without fear or favour that we commence this undertaking and reaffirm ourselves to providing additional in-kind aid and a peaceful solution to the Kitaran conflict. We urge the international and regional community to commit to peace and reject armed intervention by state or non-state actors. Nyowani Kitara is not a playground nor are the lives of its people worth less than any other. The suffering has gone on long enough.
