Every year as the seasons change, islanders gather all around to give thanks to their almighty Goddesses for the season, good or bad, they deserve satisfaction and appeasement. Well this year for the most part, there was certainly plenty to be thankful for, harvests for fishing and land based agriculture were really showing a bumper crop. The weather had really been cooperative this year too, with no major hurricanes made landfall in any capacity. Some had a few close brushes but only enough to give a few heavy downpours here and there.

Despite a rather unpleasant diplomatic incident eh mostly caused by Marcella's foolishness and stubbornness, well it was slowly on the mend, though this year probably wouldn't see many visitors from the Sultanate as a result, though no travel bans were in place, tourists were certainly welcome to come and go as they please. Unlikely it would be Aurelia or anyone of their royal family would come down this year either, maybe for the best, Marcella still wasn't in much of a mood for visitors. Well tradition dictated the Duchess give a speech and give a speech she shall. This festival was about the faith, state of the people, all that, not about politics.

"My citizens, this is yet another festival upon us, a time of great thanks as we've been blessed. Of course we faced some trials of another kind but those trials are now behind us. What the year ahead will bring us will be seen but for now we join together as a people to remember the powers greater than us all, the Divine rights given to us that lead us from survival to thriving today. May our United Island States thrive for decades to come and may we all be blessed."

Short and simple, they usually were, it was like an opening ceremony to an event more than a big rallying speech or anything to that effect. Closing the glass window of her balcony she again retreated inside. This festival she was going to spend quietly, she wasn't that depressed over having to end her relationship with Aurelia, well not to say it didn't hurt but more by everything that came in the wake of it, so maybe this was a good time for a little self reflection away from everyone else. But she wasn't alone, her trusty guard, Asuna was with her, also dressed up for the festival and looking cute and off duty. Sitting down, Marcella again had to stress, "You really don't have to spend the festival with me. I'm not going to do anything crazy like kill myself."

"Hehehe of course not, Milady but still I figured you don't want to be alone no matter what you say. A festival is no fun when you're all alone."

"Still, you probably want to see your family don't you? Friends?"

"Sure but I'm still worried about you either way."

"You don't have to worry about me, I'm fine. Not to say I'm not still a little upset but time moves on, I'll move on, I just need...."

"Well here's a crazy idea, you can always come with me to Shimokeda."

"I'd stand out I'd think..."

"Well...." Asuna stood up walking behind Marcella lifting up her long hair "Mmmm if I trim it up, part it this way, put on a cute pair of spectacles on you, maybe paint a few sun spots on your face...I could see you passing as a colleague."

"Funny...Wait...You're serious aren't you?"

"It is a whole week after all, not that difficult for me to get this done in a day and set out to be there by tomorrow. Trust me most Northerners have only the vaguest implication of you from pictures, only so much you can get from a photo after all. Keep the press away from you and you don't have to spend it all by yourself. I do care about you, you know. It's more than just I'm in charge of guarding your life. In an odd way you're as close as family to me as the ones I have back home. Your sister is away and I know your mother is more meditative. I don't want you to wallow here. Join me."

"I'm not wallowing, I just --" Marcella sighed "You know, all right. Let's do it. But you really know how to cut hair?"

"Trust me, I know."

Marcella should have more confidence but somehow it was lacking until a short time later "Viola!" Asuna yanked the improptu apron away showing Marcella with a new stylish bob cut "And just remember if you don't like it, it will grow back."

"Actually, it's pretty cute! You do know how."

"Milady a family as big as mine, with boys and girls to care for, let's say my mama taught us all well. But wait, there's more."

Up next was to give her a pair of colored contacts then a pair of glasses.

"This is a bit much isn't it?" Marcella had to question

"Well one can't be too careful. That's something I certainly learned from our time in The Imperium."

"I keep telling you, you both did great in that exercise."

"I know, I believe we did good, but we can always do better. Well, Milady, if I didn't know you, I wouldn't recognize you, you're practically a new woman!"

"I guess I do look unrecognizable. Asuna, you're a master of disguise."

"I can only hope. Well then, Milady, safe to say you've committed to coming home with me?"

"Yeah, you know what, it will be fun."

"See, that's the spirit. You never know who we'll run into, after all"

"You think tourists would make their way to your home village?"

"Well you never know, we've gotten the odd duck out there before."

With that these two women set out on their journey up north.

The Kitan

Aurora's premier resort, probably the closest you'd find to a high class 5-star resort in other countries, but still considerably humble by the standards of that, the Kitan certainly couldn't say they were seeing a dip in business because of the events of the past two months. Especially true for Satou Fujimiya-Dileva, given she was married to the daughter of one Mervay's most important families. This year was a little different compared to past, including the fateful festival where she met her wife, this year she was tasked with training an apprentice. Chitose Takeda, turning 13 today actually, the first day of this festival, and working her first job, part time. So exciting for her, a first job at such a classy resort and a resort that helped so many girls before her when things were down or just those who needed income of their own in the new post-war society that the islands are. Chi wasn't down on her luck or anything but still, it was good to think about the future. Certainly her marks in school weren't good enough that she'd pursue higher education beyond the minimum, dating, marriage? Eeeeh well she was kind of shy to be honest. This was her first week, starting in the restaurant then moving over to the bath services and eventually inn keeping positions when it'd come time to shuffle the duty roster. Cleaning up from a morning group that got their start early, Satou placed her hand on Chi's shoulder. Chi really did like Satou as her mentor, honestly if she wasn't much older and already married, she may have a crush!

Describing Satou, Chi puts as, Patient, kind and always understanding. Being a newbie, she was prone to a lot of mistake certainly. "Good morning, Chi." Satou wished

"Oh good morning!"

"Did you handle a morning service?"

"Oh no, they just had me clean up until you arrived. Manager says I should shadow you some more before I really get confident and knowledgeable of the floor."

"Of course, no problem. It'll be busy today but just watch and observe and I'll also help you with ordering. Good to get much practice in." Satou's first week wasn't quite as chaotic, the Inn was popular but not like it is today, but it was easy to remember being the young rookie relying on a mentor to help her through it all. In the case of Satou's mentor, she left a few years later to pursue a chef position overseas. "Oh that reminds me," Satou had the look of suddenly recalling. "Manager wanted to speak with you a moment in the Staff Lounge."

"Oh no, what did I do this time?"

"Don't be silly, I'm sure it's nothing. Come on, I'll go with you." They walked across the mostly vacant restaurant floor to where the staff lounge was, opening the door there were already a bunch of their co-workers along with the Manager all wishing Chitose, "Happy birthday!"

"W-wha?"

A member of the kitchen staff presented a cupcake with a lone candle burning atop "Chitose," the manger spoke up "We're delighted to have you apart of our team, and now another year has passed that you've been blessed with life."

"Manager manager" A girl spoke up with a giggle "No need to get all philosophical. Gee let me do this. Chi, if I can call you Chi...Happy birthday, welcome aboard. Everyone deserves a little party on their special day, especially when it falls on our Holy Week. Congrats"

The girls all replied with a "Here here"

"Well come on, don't let the wax melt onto your desert."

Chitose blew out the little candle "Hehe thank you so much, everyone." Chitose thanked

"It's about time for your first break isn't it?" Satou asked "Take a few moments to enjoy it, we're not busy yet."

"Oh well, sure!"

"Very good." The manager nodded with a smile "All right ladies, I trust we're all ready for the first day, we expect it to be busy as usual but remember to take a moment for yourselves. Any issues, you know where to find me."

"Yes ma'am."

Hoshino Island

Neighboring Aurora, Hoshino a bit smaller but no less excited, plenty of people were super excited for the festival, no fewer than one little Kaori and her rabbit themed hand puppet, Georgie, both already dressed up in yukata. The thing to know about little Kaori is, she's considered on the "slow side" Some would say not too bright, defective but well she was who she was. A bit smarter than most would give her credit for. Again like last year, she was watching the boats come in, watching people from all over come in, wondering if the friends she made last year would also be around. Her mother again was giving her own time to the local temple, always giving thanks to the Goddesses. It probably wouldn't be long before Kaori was expected to do so as well but for now she was allowed to move around freely. "Georgie?" She asked her puppet

"Mmm what is it Kaori?" She replied to herself in a slightly deeper voice,

"Last year, I was able to talk to more people than I could have thought."

"Mmmhm, you did very good." She conversed with herself, changing her voice to mimic Georgie's presumed male voice. "Mama was proud of you, so was Matron."

"I wonder if mama and the Matron will finally get married? they really like each other, I like her. So what's keeping them?"

"Grownups are sure strange."

"They sure are. Georgie, I wonder if we'll have rain later?"

"I don't know, maybe we will."

"People will want a place to get away from the rain if it does. That's a good time to practice talking."

"It sure is. Pray for rain?"

"Well but people like going to the beach, and that would make it not fun for them. I don't want to be someone who doesn't make it fun."

"True true. I guess we let things go where they go. Only the Goddesses can make that."

"Mhm mhm. So I guess I'll pray everyone has a good festival."

"That's a good idea."

"Heeeeeey" another voice called out to get Kaori's attention, it was the voice of someone older, teens. A friend of Kaori now from school, her "special class" also like Kaori one would say not all there upstairs either. On top of that, her mother was pretty odd, running a sort of pleasure service that wasn't your ordinary kind, it specialized in well alternatives for those who were into that kind of thing. They only recently moved to Hoshino from Corona, though not malhela (dark) like most Coronan people so I guess it was odd but Coronans had hela (fair) people too, so there's that.

"Kaaaori." she came and sat next to her. She wasn't in a traditional kimono like Kaori was just a normal sundress

"Watching the boats? There are sooo many boaats."

"Plutona, hi!" Kaori waved. Even though Kaori was a young kid and Plutona a teenager, just being peas in the pod of kids who were "special" just made them bond easier than they could with most.

"I am. There's a lot. I wonder what their voyages were like to get here. Maybe they were fun?"

"You want to go to sea some time? Like a sailor?"

"I don't know, it could be fun. Mama tried to get us aboard the Gisella that one boat that's going all around the world, but it was way more than we could afford."

"Yeah us too. But maaama wanted to set up her new service here on Hoshino. So she decided to stay put. But our trip from Corona to Hoshino was fun, but not as long."

"Island hopping sounds fun. Mmmm maybe we could do that this festival? Or do you have something you're gonna do?"

"I don't. It could be fuuuun. What does Georgie think?"

"Georgie?" Kaori asked then switched voice "I think it might be fun but tell your mama because she'd worry if you don't."

"Hehehe that's a gooood ideaaaa. Georgie is sooooo smaaaart." Plutona giggled putting her hands together in joy and offering a hand to Kaori whether they'd go now or later would remain to be seen after all, tourists were arriving and they can always be friendly with people.

Corona Island

Most of the islands right now had good weather but Corona was having some rather rough weather today, off and on thunderstorms since last night but it rarely meant trouble for the residents who were used to it. Two of the residents, Sunplena and her daughter Gracia. Special for them because someone special was coming to this festival. Someone they met last year's festival and both grown fond of. Since then Sunplena left the family business of the shop to her parents and started making fish nets for 10 credits a piece. Only calling on her parents if she really needed something. No real reason but she felt healed from the loss of her husband, a fisherman lost to sea a few years ago. Now it was time to move on, take care of her daughter on her own steam and one day maybe marry the man she's now fallen for. Gracia helped with the nets too, good to learn to sew at her young age too. Gracia looked at the gloomy sky with concern but she was assured by her mom "Just a passing storm, he'll make it, baby."

"I hope so."

Seemed Gracia taken a shine to him just as much as her mother. But she was pretty young still, just turning 6, she was too young to remember her birth father but old enough to sail down to the Maltidas islands with her mom. Island life is strange. Another woman was working with Sunplena, named Nigeria (a hard G in her name) and her own daughter, Filipinia, not really working given she's blind but enjoying the company while buried in a custom braille book also awaiting her own special someone for the festival, though coming from a far less far away place, just a village over. Nigeria was odd, her name was odd, kind of more foreign, not native Esperanto but she'd say she was always born and raised here, so more likely her parents were migrants to the island in the pre-war days. Considered "orthodox" practitioner of Madokamisim thus meant she held to compulsory nudity. "Aaha you're so lucky, Sunny" Her own nickname for her friend. "I truly envy you."

"Aw come on, surely a bunch of people must be eager to date a lovely lady like you."

Leaning in she whispered "Well some are, but I have a big of baggage." She motioned to her daughter, not that she'd consider her teenage daughter "baggage or a burden" but a blind daughter and a barley literate woman, meant options were limited. "Ah you know how it is, I'm just uuh not ready."

"Mama," Filipinia knew and wasn't buying it "I know."

"Look it's not you baby...it's how, how did you put it to your little one, Sunny?"

"I told Gracia, if he wants to marry me at some point, I know that's an if, but if he does, well we're a package deal. He doesn't get me without getting Gracia too."

"Aww that's so sweet!" Filipina looked up aiming her face in the direction of their voices

"Gracia, I hope you know you've got a great mama. Well, of course I do too."

"Aren't we just the luckiest women alive? Though Sunny, I guess is a bit luckier than us."

"Well you'll find someone. Fili found someone she could love couldn't she?"

"Yes she did and someone who is Conservative too? There is a Goddess indeed." Nigeria joked.

Madokamisim has a few small sects, modern, those who believe like any other, Conservative, those who are more adherent to literal ideas but not as much, and Orthodox the ultra practitioners who really really uphold all the teachings of the faith, that is why entire villages are dedicated purely to being "naturalist." Sunplena was on the modern-semi-conservative side but it really didn't matter a lot of the time unless you were foreign then maybe it would but people are adaptable.

"Filipinia, when are you expecting Amika?" Her mother asked her

"She said she'd be down as soon as she could but I have to imagine the rain is making things tough on her now. You'll know her when you see her, she's got long pink hair, really long pink hair, turquoise eyes, the cutest face ever."

"That is the sound of a girl in love. I certainly can relate." Sunplena agreed. "So she's Hela then?"

"She is but that's fine. We're a United Island States now, race should have no boundaries after all."

Animalpolis Island

The large sprawling island with the biggest "city" in it, Tsubaki. Almost as urban and metropolis as you can get but it still looked like a Japanese city from two centuries ago. The people down in the largest port city were already crowding the streets, least not of all another pair of lovers, Ryoka Honda and Amiru Ishigami togehter walked the streets. Amiru in paticular munching on just whatever she could buy "Ami....Take it easy ,we have a week ahead of us. Not to mention the day." Ryoka chuckled. Ryoka in paticular was neko, cat person, Amiru was inu, dog person.

"Mmmm I love festival time" Amiru said between bites "So much good food"

"Always thinking with your stomach. I guess all dog are like that."

"Hey what's that supposed to mean?"

"I mean I've seen how inferior canine kind act whenever food is around." By inferior canine kind, she means your domesticated house pet dog as opposed to the strange evolutionary hoodoo voodoo that made the people of Animalpolis their way. Uuh a wizard did it? Or rather a Maho shojo....Anyway.

"Ryo-chan, you're soooooooo uuuuh well you!" Her tail waved around through the back of her yukata.

"Hehhee since when do you use keigo?" Keigo, seen in other Asian nations, not caught on in the UIS despite some similarities in the culture. Same case with the practice of addressing by family name over given name, just not done here.

"I think it makes it kind of cute! Chan, san, kun, sama...."

"They sound cute because they're foreign. It's rarely done here." Ryo opened up a parasol to keep the sun off, so far it was a nice day but storms were nearby on Corona, chances are they'd drift over here as well. Taking Amiru by the hand "If you can put down the kabobs a bit, maybe we can go listen to the music for a bit?"

"Yeah sure!"

Elsewhere in Tsubaki another fox woman, Roshin Tendo, AHSCA's Deputy Foreign Officer but today she was just Roshin, big sister to her youngest siblings. A family of six children, including herself, Roshin being the second oldest. The youngest two, the aforementioned twins had just turned 10, a boy, Aoi, and a girl Hikari, or just Hika in her case as she liked to shorten it to. A group of happy siblings, one happy fox family. "Aoi, Hika" Roshin presented them with a couple of charms with their names "Aww so cute!" Hikari had one of the Goddess Madokami for Aoi it was a sword and shield "wow so cool!" Each put them around their wrists to wear.

"Sis, sis!" Hikari asked "Think we'll meet some people from overseas?"

"Oh I don't know, it's a big city here, we could very well meet anyone around."

"But you're in charge of all the nation's relations with other nations! I bet lots would come see you because they see you all the time"

"Ahaha i'm only a deputy, I just help out with Miss Noir. You know Miss Noir."

"Oooh yeah" Hikari nodded

"So not many know who I am, not many see me when they meet with Noir." That'd ideally be for the best, after the last two months, last thing she wanted was to worry about business right now, now was the time to be with her family. But meeting new people can always be fun.

Nia Gwyalen, of Cefnffordd Descent.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

The Marcharnnau was one of the many ships arriving the day of the Festival of Holy Light - however, I did not spot any other Wavehorse, no other Capall na dTonn here. The iconic two masters with their trapezoid sails were favourites of some merchants and fishermen to this day, but mostly tourist traps.
Technically, this was also true for the Marcharnnau, but my Aunt knew Siona Hawylio, of Cefnffordd Descent, the owner and Captain and she had managed to get her employer's permission for a sailing trip to the UIS. Her crew would make a vacation, she would make a vacation and they had dragged us two along.
Us two, in this case, was myself of 13 Springs and Middle School and my Aunt, Blodwen Canatol, of Cefnffordd Descent. She was, like me, a Spiorad, of the animal eared folks of the Free Lands, and so old, we had to guesstimate her age by when she was first mention (450, as a Captain of forces from the Gaoglann, which aided the Last High Queen in her rebellion).
She was a busty, active, black eared woman with cat ears, her short hair whipped around by the sea breeze. She was also my closest relative among the Spiorad, apparently, and she had decided to arrange this trip for us.
I was short, blue-haired and usually described as cute.
In any case, I was eternally grateful to Aunt Blodwen and her skills in organizing. She had even our backpacks already prepared. In the two weeks, which we would spend here, we would explore Hoshino Island by foot. It would be an interesting experience for sure!
She joined me at the bow, watching the harbour and leaving the crew alone. An hour later, we would be standing at customs and in the line, travelling documents, including a certificate of vaccination, in hands.

Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork.
Port Aurora, Aurora.

Every student of the Naval School had one month of vacation, the entire September. It was before in Winter, when we would be needed as additional hands in snow and ice, and after summer, when we had training cruises and other such things.
It was a good time for us.
The plan had been for me to enjoy a vacation abroad with my parents, but Mam had to take care of sickly grandfather on short notice, his actual nurse had fallen out with an acute case of pregnancy (we were reasonably certain, that my Grandpa was not involved), my Dad had an important thing coming up on short notice.
But that was the life of a naval officer, I guess, especially when was Commodore and Commander of a Naval Station. I got off of my flight, a seaplane I had hired with some other travellers to the UIS from the Free Lands, my bag over my shoulder, aviator sunglasses on my nose protecting my red eyes. I had my black hair open, played with by the breeze, just like the light jacket, which I wore open.
Beneath that a blouse and beneath that a swimsuit completed the ensemble with a pair of denim shorts and a pair of heavy boots, which were most definately not SDF-Navy Equipment (they were).
I had a room booked in an inn, the Kitan, and I hoped, that after the long and arduous flight, I could have a nice, hot bath, where I could enjoy my time off. Then, I would conduct myself befitting of a Leading Ensign of the SDF-Navy: I would visit the cultural and historical monuments of the UIS, beginning in Aurora, drink anyone willing under the table, leave them with the tab, tour the islands for two weeks, see, what they smoked around here, and see, what the locals had to offer.
By the time I was through, there would be legends about me.
I lined up for customs.

Celina Riar of the Tribe of Monaghan.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

We had been flying here with a young woman, Ensign Gualla, on a seaplane, which had then taken us further to our final destination, Port Aya. There, the pilot would pick us up again in two weeks and, a bit later, the good Ensign from Port Aurora.
Regardless, I should be in school.
Then again, when Professor Amy Socheo needed her daughter for some research project or the other, then there was not much discussion, she got me. My Mam had organized this little Mother-Daughter-Trip for the two of us while my Dad and my brother Aonghus were in Dousatel.
Her research project was more for cultural history and anthropology, unusual for a military historian like her, but it was a recommendation of one of her students. It was about the festival, recording it and its customs before they all vanished under the jackboot of mass tourism.
If a qualitative study about the quality of local beaches was there as well, we would not complain.
And like that, we got off the seaplane, travelling documents at the ready in our light jackets, bags with us. I wore no blouse under my jacket, only the bikini top in white, my hair bound back into a ponytail, my Mam had the topmost buttons of her blouse open, everyone of the right size and adventurous nature, who was not captivated by her blue eyes, would have a generous view of her 'argumentation amplifiers'. She, too, wore a bikini underneath, but our first stop would be our inn.
We needed to 'set up our research equipment', if you want, in other words deposit our bags and suitcases. But before that, customs.
Passports and certificate of vaccination were at the ready.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

S.S. Fairy Tail, en route to AHSCA. September 7, 2021, 11:00 AM

Another year has passed and once again, Cartoonia travels abroad across the sea. In the final weeks of summer break for students, and the last week of a two-week vacation for people in the workforce, Tourists and holidaymakers flock to the beautiful beaches, the scenic nature, and the quaint villages. To many Cartoonians, it was another visit to the friendly islands that are great allies to Cartoonia. It was a profitable time for the ocean liner industry in Cartoonia as well since seafaring transportation was the only permitted form to the islands. Cartoonians traveled onboard ocean liners like the S.S. Fairy Tail to arrive at these fair isles as tourists, though this ship was designed for ocean travels from the golden days of ocean travel.

Besides all that, many Cartoonians look forward to their annual trip to AHSCA, and with the rising popularity of this small island nation as a vacation destination, it is no wonder that a few interested journalists would flock and write editorials on the festival. This year, Alphonse Elric, the head journalist of “The Gallagher Herald” was given the task to write an editorial on the Festival of Light and the tourist destination that is AHSCA. It is an interesting situation too, with the ongoing incident that began months ago, but optimism runs through everyone this year, especially since almost everyone in Cartoonia has been vaccinated. This was a year to make up for travel, and Al is on the prowl looking to bolster tourism.

Alphonse wearing an orange polo and white linen summer pants stands along the rails of the S.S. Fairy Tail, getting the whiff of the salty breeze of the ocean. They are to reach their destination very soon. He carries with him a notepad and pencil to write down his findings and any interviews he conducts with locals about the festival as well as a small bronze tag that reads “Alphonse Elric, Head-Journalist ‘The Gallagher Herald’”. He hears the shutter of a camera, which belonged to one of the newest members of “The Gallagher Herald” team, Ms. Yukari Akiyama sporting a pink and red shirt and brown cargo shorts along with green suspenders. Having graduated from The Cartoon University of Ooarai with a bachelor’s in history and an associate’s degree in photography, she was hired by The Gallagher Herald as a side job to fuel her obsession with historical memorabilia. She’s a bit quirky but upbeat, and her unique ability to capture the moment with various films of photos makes her stand out above others.

“Ms. Akiyama!” Alphonse says to her, which stops the camera shutters. “I hope you have plenty of films left to take photos”.

“Of course Mr. Elric sir! I always keep spare films in my bag”. Yukari opens her bag, revealing lids of extra film. Alphonse smiles warmly.

“Ah. You are quite prepared for anything aren’t you Ms. Akiyama”.

“One hundred percent and more sir!”. Al chuckles.

“Ms. Akiyama, have you ever been out of the country before?”

“Oh, no sir. It’s my first time!”

“So is mine. You know, it’s been a few years since Cartoonians flocked to the United Island States for a vacation. I would have never thought of doing an editorial on these isles”.

“Well, there is a lot of history and beauty to these islands. I’m glad we have the week to get to know it more, hopping from one island to the other. Though I hope the people here are friendly, my mom’s friend said that some are hostile to foreigners”.

“I’m sure that it’s only a few uh… bad apples, but from others experiences, the locals here are very friendly. It’ll be a good time, despite some of the international happenings going about”.

“Yeah. A good event to offset the bad”. As the Cartoonians were on deck, the Captain gets on to the intercom.

“Hello, this is your captain speaking. We are close to reaching the Port of Aurora, all passengers should head back to their cabins to prepare for customs. We know you have choices for traveling abroad, so thank you for choosing a Jones-Williams Ocean Liner, the luxury Cartoon Sea Service”. The ship, as it always has done, has the port in sight. The brass quintet comes up to play a tune for the departing guests of the ship. With the passengers having their belongings ready, they are ready to take on the riches and pleasures this island nation has to offer once again.

"Gabriella" Reaver-51-T transport VTOL. September 7, 2021.

A new, beautfil VTOL with a gourgeous pin up lady paintjob on it, took off with one of the elite squads of men-at-arms. It quickly flew to the military exercises elsewhere. The squadmates were cleaning their guns, drinking and playing cards before deployment. Among them, there was Liam Graham, a scavenger, freelancer, sometimes mechanic. How the hell did he even end up on a military aircraft?

Well, one day he was watching TV and saw AHSCA, when he was watching news about some royal scandal. All these marriages, lineages, royal houses... to him, it wasn't exactly interesting. He watched them, and laughed at it's needless complications. Back at Sky Reaver territory, it was much more simple. Just near-anarchic republic, by the people and for the people. Where leader is elected and his ancestry barely means anything. He also say some nice sights, and thought, that politics aside, this is the place to visit. So, he made necessry bureaucratic procedures, and when it was time to get a ticket, he thought, that he could save some money on the ticket, if he just manages to persuade his friend, Battlemaster Joel "Reckless" Wang. who was a commander of a military squad, which would pass near AHSCA territory on their way to exercises, to take him with them and drop off. Since he was drunk as hell and liked Liam, he agreed.

Joel started instructing the passenger in a semi-joking manner.-"Welcome to the VTOL-51 airlines! We are the fastest and most badass airlines! You have chosen Cheapskate class ticket! There ain't no hostesses here, and our pilot really liked his whiskey and joint before flight! But hey! Ya' get, what ya' pay for! Ha!"- Squad started laughing. Liam smiles too. -"Now, here is the plan. Ya' see, we can slightly go off course for a while, by "Accident" but we gonna be quick, so we would resotre our course after first warning. We gonna drop ya' off in the water from a small height, several kilometers to the coast. Near port Aurora. Hope ya' know how to swim! If not, that's gonna be your pain in the ass! And, you'll have to find some other way back, but we are sure, you are smart guy and gonna figure something out."-Joel instructs Liam, as he inspects his items.

Liam was a pretty strong, tough looking black guy with black dreadlocks and beard. He was wearing old cargo pants, sandals and a black metal band t-shirt. He'd be hard to distinguish from the other squadmates, if he had automatic weapon and armor. But sadly AHSCA doesn't approve, when people walk around with AK-47s, LMGs or laser rifles. He didn't bring lots of items, he had his weapons, three stimpacks, waterproof smartphone, spare plasma pistol battery, an adapter cable and device, for charging his smarpthope from this battery, some weeds, booze and food in backpack, and of course money and other small neccessities.

He drank some of his alcohol, spoke with the squad and joked around, while bracing himself for a jump from a moving VTOL and afterwards, long, long swim. Yes, he was crazy, just like most other Sky Reavers. Perhaps, this disregard for common sense and frivolity is a cultural trait. Live fast, and try not to die young. YOLO and such. Still, he felt slightly uneasy about this, for a short moment, he even regretted his decision. But, there is no way back, so he overcame this fear. Soon the VTOL lovered to the several meters above the water. Hatch opened, and the time for a leap of faith had come.

"Alright dude! Flight is over! Thanks for using our airlines!"-Joel says to Liam and then turns to the squads. -"Are ya' ready kids?" - "Aye aye, captain!"-Squad yells in unison. "I can't hear ya'!"- "Aye aye, captain!" - Suddenly Joel says "Oooooh! Who is a skeleton under the sea?", as he gives Liam Graham a slight encouraging push, and Liam jumps out. The last thing he hears from the squad is "Liam Square Pants!"- Sky Reaver warriors are such humorists, the continue to sing this variant of Spongebob intro song, Liam sadly wouldn't be able to listen, as he landed in salty waters from a 10 meter height.

Aurora, Near Port Aurora

With some effort, Liam Graham pushed himself to the surface, and saw VTOL flying away to the mission. After bidding it a silent goodbye, he started swimming to the shore. With no storm, it was easier to do so. Liam was a rather good swimmer, or at least he thought, that he is, so he just stroked to the shore in a relaxed pace. "From Ashes To New - Forgotten" played in his head for some reason, until he thought about "Sabaton - Bismark". Eventually, despite being tired and stung by jellyfishes several times, he came close to something, which appears to be a beach resort. A few minutes, and he is coming out of the water, catching lots of surprised glances from the people on the crowded beach. Liam is slightly tired from the swim, but fire in his eyes indicated, that he was ready to enjoy the hell out of whatever Aurora has to offer and even more!

This is the first island, and he plans to visit them all.

Joel Miller
Kino, Corona

"I'm back..." Is all I can mutter as I look to the shore approaching more and more from the ferry's deck.

For those who weren't here last year, a quick recap: My name is Joel Miller, I'm 33 years old. A carpenter and lumbermill manager from the Saskatchewan state of the Federalis Imperium of Astares Amauricanum, I also serve as a Captain and therefore commander of the 31st Mekaniser Jegar, 1st Company, of the State Defense Militia. (check my explanation at the end.)
I have a daughter, Sarah, who is 16 now, who I got when I was just 17, and whose mom left me with her. I also have a brother, Tommy, whose married to Maria, a hyroelectric engineer.

Anyway, I won't go back on the Malditas, how the Imperium got them thanks to Terra Nullius, yadda yadda yadda. You can check all of this here
No, what I'm going to talk now is more important. Last year, Tommy, Maria, Sarah and me visited Corona Island for the Festival. And there, something very beautiful happened: I fell in love all over again.
We met a shop owner named Sunplena, and I believe it was love at first sight. While we were a bit blushing and all towards each other, in the end, I got a date with her where she taught me fishing in the inland rivers. And the more and more she talked, the more I was enthranced. And it seemed she was not indifferent to me either, because we kissed. I also met her daighter Gracia on this day, and she got along with Sarah pretty well.

However, shortly after I got back to the Malditas, our nation got involved, alongside the nations of Iarann Grudaidh and Port Ember, in a war against the Empire of Geonal. Due to this, all our armed forces were mobilized, and Sarah had to go back to the Imperium. As for me, as I was a State Defense Militia Officer, I was instead asked to stay on the Malditas, continue my civilian job there, while also being appointed Executive Officer of the newly created Malditas First Reserve Company, made of various civilians workers who were also serving as Militiamen back home. About three more companies like this were created.

Anyway, despite the tense situation in the Malditas, and the fear we would become a potential target for Geonal Forces, war didn't come to us. This allowed me to have Sunplena and Gracia visit me some times. Her tanned skin, her golden eyes, her black hair... how I enjoyed them every time I held her in my arms.
And now, I'm going to see her again.

As I straighten my back and get off the rail, I adjust my green cap over my head. Unlike last year, this year, I chose to go in military clothing. A digitalized combat shirt in jungle camouflage, as it was issued to us in the Malditas, with the patches of the Malditas Reserve Companies and the 31st Mekaniser Jegar on the left, with the Astarian flag on the right. A pair of digitalized camouflage combat pants, and a pair of combat boots.
In the back of my pants, a concealed Masada 27 pistol with two additional mags, and a knife. And to top it all off, two large military bagpacks.

So, as the ferry finally gets in port, I get out and line for the customs, my passport in hand.
Wait just a little more my dearies, Joel is here... I think with a beaming smile as I wait for my turn.

In the Imperium, regarding the Armed Forces, there are the Reserves and National Guard. The first one regards reserve soldiers at the purely federal level, while the second one regards soldiers who are reservists at the state level, but who can be put under federal control.

The State Defense Militias, on the other hand, are reserve forces which can not be put under federal control, and therefire exist only to protect their own state and nothing else. In a strategic sense, they are made up of light infantry and armor, to fight partisans or enemy light infantry on the rear.

In Joel's case, he is part of a Mekaniser Jegar battalion, or Mechanized Hunter. Basically, infantry in wheeled IFVs.

31st Mekaniser Jegar battalion: a brown and grey crossbow pointing upwards, with a pair of oak leaves circling it, and the number "31st" at the end of the crossbow. Written above, "Saskatchewan", and below "State Defense Militia"

First Malditas Reserve Company: A palm tree above a crossed XM4 carbine and a sword, with the number "1" above.

Port Aya, Hoshino.

Port Aya, Hoshino Island

When ships pulled into port and passengers disembarked, it would be pretty easy to find their place to go for customs inspection, given Officers would shout "Welcome, please line up here for inspection!"

It was a quick search of belongings, making sure nothing that might be harmful to the UIS delicate ecosystem, though some joked whatever could possibly harm the place would likely wash away in a week or two anyway. The Officers also took a look at their vaccine cards and marked two colored stamps on their passports and with a smile handed them back "Welcome to Hoshino, please enjoy your visit with us and enjoy the festival. One more thing, we are now asking all visitors to please sign a visitor's pledge. Be mindful of the weather and do enjoy yourselves." She waved them along to go on in. Upon leaving the little customs area the whole port town of Aya awaited visitors. Much like it's neighboring port cities, it was quite a sprawl but with buildings rather condensed and maybe just a bit vulnerable but plenty of people, natives and tourists alike were already gathered. Shops and restaurants were bustling, calling out specials and deals. The great statue that stood at the center of the town honored the nation's "founders" The former Chief (or Viceroy) Masako and his wife Aya. A placard read, Our brave leaders put their very lives on the line to establish a new nation in the wake of violence. We honor the husband and wife who put it all to let the children be free.

Masako 1986- ?
Aya 1987 - 2008

Like every festival any number of flowers, trinkets and gifts were at the base of the statue including little figures of the Goddesses. Wishes, prayer cards, trinkets so on and so forth. From the same area, one could see Tabby's Point, a small mountain, not a difficult or rugged one, but high enough to stand out and catch the eyes of any wandering adventure. A wood post that gave directions to other villages North was Tabby's Point Trailhead, 5 Kilometers, Kochi, 12 Kilometers, Aya, 22 Kilometers. South of course was the harbor where they just entered, west was beachfront, east was Shoal Caves Beachfront.

Those that arrived by seaplane had to go through a few more legal hoops but otherwise, same process as those who arrived by sea.

Port Aurora

Same process as though that arrived in Hoshino, a quick check of personal belongings a request to sign the pledge and a thank you. Aurora quite a bustling place as the nation's capital and center of commerce and business. Similar a sign that pointed off to various villages and the distance towards them. Similarly there was a statue to honor the former Duchess Shino with a similar message, minus the dates of birth and death as the former Duchess was still living. Some women still roamed the streets to lure foolish tourists in who didn't listen to the warning about not engaging with streetwalkers.

More wholesome side of things had families with young children or teens enjoying their festival time together. Some admired tourists coming in, others paid no interest or mind some had disdain but they wouldn't let you know it. A real portrait of a life for islander was unfolding here before your very eyes.

The Fairy Tail was guided into port the people greeted inspected and sent along their way just as quickly. Little did they probably know. word got out a certain reporter was ready to do a write up on the festival this year and given everything that happened over the last few months, right now AHSCA could probably use some good publicity. So who to greet them was a reporter from AHSCA's own state press and UNICIM office to greet them, Amiru Yoshimoto, long black hair, dressed in a purple yukata tied by a crimson sash, moth prints and a matching hair ornament. Why moths? Well why not? They're drawn to light and what a better thing to a journalist than to be drawn to light and truth. "Good daaay" She greeted them setting off a a party popper as if they were VIPs but well hopefully they could make a strong first impression and hopefully she could be a bit of a liaison, interpreter if they needed guide just a nice spring board for information. "Mister Alphonse Elric and Miss I presume and Miss Yukari Akiyama what a pleasure. My name is Miss Yoshimoto" She handed a card to each of them, "I'm from the Office of Information and Culture. We heard a major press outlet in your country was interested in our festival and were hoping we might be of some service to you."

Of all the things Patrol Officers had grown used to, this wasn't one of them, someone swimming in? What the? Well hopefully he was okay, two police officers approached "Uh good day" One bid him with a sort of smile that was sincere but also is this guy crazy? We took a notice that you literally swam in. Must say that's quite an entrance and way to come in. Are you okay? Hopefully no serious incidents happened?"

Their radio was usual chatter, no mayday calls or reports of distress. The second officer took out her notepad to write down some details. "Welcome to Aurora" She said still looking down and writing. "Here for the festival?"

"Welcome, sir." A customs officer greeted him, taking a look over everything he had with him and stamping his passports. "Or I guess I should say, welcome back. Enjoy your time and the festival. Be safe now."

Nia Gwyalen, of Cefnffordd Descent.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

After customs, we were in Port Aya itself - a pretty city, reminded me a bit of the Archipelago. Aunt Blodwen had smiled at the oath we had to sign, and now was the time to...
"You are wondering why I smiled when I signed the oath.", the older Spiorad asked in Tafod, the language of the Spiorad. I nodded. "Because I find it ridiculous. After all, it tries to bind us by my conscience to be mindful of my environment. It holds little legal binding, but it is a pretty sentiment, have to give them credit for that... though, back in the day, if I would not have come here to be respectful of my rights and duties as guest, this whole city would already be burning."
"Back in Ribín Gorm's Days?", I asked with a small smile.
"Among others.", Blodwen said with a smile of her own, though hers was sadder. "Though most particularly Lyra Cróimiam and of the Ciardhubh-Banner. Stories for the campfire tonight."
I nodded and looked at the plaque.
"Those I can respect.", my Aunt said and indicated towards the plaque and the statue. "Not because of the nation or something, but because they risked their lives and everything for a better future for their people. Not many do that out of that reason... though, at some point, no one will admit to being a little shithead."
I giggled, then turned away. "Well, let's get going then! Before weather catches us!"
"Towards Kochi, then.", Blodwen said and we started from the wooden sign. 12 Kilometers? With the Younger Militia, we trained marching, 5 kilometers per hour. With breaks, we'd be there in three hours.

Celina Riar of the Tribe of Monaghan.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

I had signed the pledge, too, and while my bemusement was limited, I did promise myself to stick to it. Mam had signed, too.
We were researchers, not miners.
Regardless of that, our bags in hand, we went ahead, into Aya's crowd, bustling with locals and tourists alike and while one could think the city to be a sprawling metropolis, I am a student of the Iris, near Fortham, which had a pretty similar feel to it.
For my Mam... she might compare it to Leuda.
Regardless of that, in front of the statue, we made a short break to orient ourselves and to find out hotel... which was, too, easier said then done. Mainly because, well... we didn't book one.
So, having heard of the kindness of the people around here, Mam and I resolved to approach the next temple for a place to stay. As long as it was not too demanding, we would be eager workers the likes of which they hadn't seen. We were both capable and strong women and we could work.
With a smile, we turned towards the nearest shrine.
How someone could start diplomatic troubles with these people was beyond either of us.

Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork.
Port Aurora, Aurora.

Customs was easily handled and the chicken scratch I gave under the pledge was more for my own amusement then anything else. I was not here to pillage and plunder, after all.
I did wonder, though, what would happen if my class of Ensigns would descent upon this city. They would be the politest pillagers every, that was true, and they would pay for everything, but four dozen SDF-Navy Ensigns... we could be handful, especially if one was not a person who's authority we respected or were told to respect.
Then again, we would rock up in a guided missile cruiser, seeing that the only way to bringing everyone here was a friendly port call, and the Gods alone knew, how the local powers would react. I mean, the breakup between Princess Aurelia and her girlfriend and the further diplomatic circumstances were no secret, as was, that a Kyrenaian Carrier Battlegroup, CG5, officially on anti-piracy patrol, was nearby. It made some people nervous.
The argument, that Razia-Sultana was not Kian-Sultan did little to alleviate my Dad's concerns. Razia-Sultana had her ways of striking back without striking.
Regardless of that, Aurora was a bustling city. It did not have the military presence of Wembury, the industrial backbone of Silverport or Ironcastle or the grandness of governmental pomp and circumstance of Fortham, but it had it's own, unique charme.
I found it to be warm. Maybe I'd shed the blouse, go about in swimsuit, shorts and jacket (it was rainproof, the blouse was not). Anyway - the statue of the Duchess Shino served as a good orientation, mainly because it was also the entranceway to the more wholesome, family-oriented theme park version of the UIS and the nitty and gritty parts of town, from what I had understood in that travelling guide.
I think I even saw one or two offerers of 'Additional Services'.
Naturally, my inn was the Kitan, but my interest was not the theme park version. I turned into the appropriate direction and walked, nodding to people, who looked at me with interest or admiration and even at those, who showed disdain.
I would be an officer of the SDF-Navy. Even when attacked, we would retaliate politely. And if not attacked, we would leave the other alone as long as they left us alone.
Some time later, I was at the door.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Both of them smiled. This was certainly a surprise to be greeted in a way as if they were celebrities or officials, but it would also seem that Miss Yoshimoto knew their names. Alphonse wasn’t sure if it was a visa thing in one of their departments, but it would seem that news does go far, especially since the Gallagher Herald is an international paper.

“I guess news does go around, doesn't it?” Alphonse replies, Yukari nodding and starting to take pictures surrounding her. “Hello, Miss Yoshimoto. Yes, Alphonse Elric, and Ms. Yukari Akiyama. We are from one of the many news outlets from Cartoonia, The Gallagher Herald. We are pleased to meet you and we are very interested in this festival, given that many Cartoonians choose to vacation here during the last few weeks of summer, which I believe coincides with this festival. We plan on hopping to each island during our stay, talk to locals about the festival, and hopefully by the end, we can learn a little more about this tradition. Any help and services you may provide will be much appreciated”. Alphonse reaches out in a handshake, and Yukari waves hello.

"Welcome, sir." A customs officer greeted him, taking a look over everything he had with him and stamping his passports. "Or I guess I should say, welcome back. Enjoy your time and the festival. Be safe now."

"Thank you very much, enjoy the festival too." I reply to the customs officer with a smile and a nod as they hand me back my passport and belongings.

Now out of the customs area, I start to walk in the direction of Sunplena's shop. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to surprise her? I think with a dreamy smile.
A, being in love all over again... What a wonderful feeling.

Port Aya - Hoshino to Kochi

The road to Kochi it was then, the road was easy enough to follow, early enough in the day that they'd make it before dark if they kept up a steady pace and all and the weather here was great today compared to nearby Corona and neighboring Stillestando so it'd be a great day for a walk. The walk would take them along a relatively smooth trail, occasionally passing through the wilderness of jungle land but it was still well marked and a decent road, considering it was an artery for many smaller villages to the port capital, it had to be. Though Hoshino is dotted with minor hills and peaks the terrain is still incredibly easy to circumnavigate.

In Kochi village, it was a small little agriculture village, a handful of huts, rice paddies, and a few buildings that made up the village square with the statue of the great Goddesses in the middle, a bit proactive with the Dark Goddess Homukami holding Madokami even. People gathered to pay their homage. Today three of it's residents, teens Hina Miki, daughter of a farmer father, and sailor mother, a girl who once had gone oversees to the Freelands herself a few years ago, with her mother but was home this year, she just got over an illness, not super serious but serious enough it meant traveling was out of the question. But her parents had gone, they said they'd be glad to cancel and stay but it was a good payday that even Hina insisted she and her father should take it up. Crops were harvested so most of the work here was done but with such a good year it was good time to expand on the farm, not just rice but maybe a little more livestock. This year was good, but next year could be bad, it could be good, it could be average but any farmer worth their weight doesn't put all their eggs in one basket - uh if you'll exucse the pun.

Hina was making last minute preps, adjusting her dark hair she tied back in a single braid, adding a hair ornament which was small dried palmtree leaves strung up together, like a little tiara and a flower, dressed in the cutest kimono ever, she was adorable! She looked like a doll one might collect from here even. Her parents were away this year but at least her two friends were going to spend the festival with her, Ryoka Tachibana, if she seemed familiar to some, she looked a lot like her older sister, Yoshi, whom was Marcella's handmaiden dressed in a pink kimono, and another sister, Yuriko Miki, sister of Knight Sayaka Miki, one of the closest Knights to Marcella besides Lady Asuna. Their own sisters were on Aurora but they wouldn't leave their best friend high and dry this year spending any planned travel money on new kimonos for them, color coordinated, Hina in yellow, (her favorite color) Ryoka in pink and Yuriko in blue. They wouldn't take no for an answer, maybe later they could go down to Port Aya, not like it was too far and expensive for them.

"Hina, you ready!?" Ryoka peaked into Hina's family hut to check on her

"Almost, making final touches." Hina admitted also trying to clean her glasses off.

"Well shake a leg, girl, we can get to enjoy with the other villagers before dark!" She giggled retreating outside yet again.

Ryoka and Yuriko sat back just waiting on Hina

"Think it'll rain tonight?"

"Oh it might, weather said scattered thunderstorms. Plus I have to imagine the Dark One is getting restless after a year of The Light One keeping all the hurricanes away."

"Geez just jinx us further why don't you?"

"Hey as mother says, it's just inevitable the dark will return when there's too much light and vice versa." It also so happened Ryoka's mom was this villages' High Priestess, or matron if you will. "Well maybe we'll get a few wayward tourists up this way too."

"Why would any tourists trek all the way up here? I mean really, Port Aya has more amenities for visitors than Kochi does."

"The port is always packed this time of year, we did the same when we saw our sisters last year, went out of Aurora and all the way up to Hanazawa in the North. Good to beat the crowds every so often."

"Guess if the papers say is right, tourism hasn't nosed dive after the Duchess' antics you could be right. Speaking of, Yoshi spill any good stuff?"

"Ah she never tells me anything, always Ryo, you're my sister and I love you, but I cannot betray Her Highness's confidence."

"Seems a certain princess did that already."

"Oh my..." They giggled "Not sure it was that bad but I guess it does feel pretty cold when someone you dated and loved says you may be a bit stupid for the most important job here."

"Cold as when we were in Hanazawa even"

Hina finally emerged "Ah finally ready. Sorry, I had hard time finding my cleaning cloth. Like a dummy, I took off my glasses first and then looked for it."

"Ahah, Hina what will we do with you? Well come on, we should go pray first." Off the trio went a day together and maybe with a few new friend soon enough.

Port Aya - Hoshino

Port Aya like all the major ports had its Grand Temple situated here and was the best place to go for toursists looking for room and board without the added expense of an inn and if the hassle of finding an open inn when many are filled up between the tourists and locals alike. Standing at the doors of the temple like she did every year was Matron Shiki Moru, a youthful woman whom has proudly served at this temple since she as a young child. "Welcome friends." She always welcomed anyone, whether they came to stay, or visit "Travelers from afar I take it? I hope you'll enjoy the festivities here this week"

From behind her also peeked out little Kaori again as she kept wandering the grounds of the temple, not ready to commit to the idea of island hopping just yet.

Port Aurora

Greeting at the Kitan early today was the Manager herself, Miss Tsubasa Kinoshita, the fox eared woman of an uncertain age given she was herself a The Selkie. Tsubaki is Spiorad Ainmhithe a small group among the population of the Free Lands, mostly concentrated in the Great Woods Area. But that was many centuries ago, AHSCA had been her home for quite some time now, though she wondered if any of her kinsmen ever came down here, she couldn't tell unless asked given Animalpolis had similar looking people but the vast majority (save for a handful) were mere mortal folks so unless she asked she never knew. Well today the person who came in was ordinary but that's fine with a polite smile she greeted her, "Welcome to the Kitan. Do you have a reservation or looking for an opening?" They did have a few open spots, last minute cancellations and that. "Or you simply looking to partake in our baths or fine dining today?" Usually no reservation was needed to enjoy the quality hot baths or fine eatery, but with the ebbs and flow of crowds it could be the difference between waiting and getting right in."

Liam finished squeezing his dreadlocks and continued. -"Since we are talkin', I wonder, if there are things I should be aware of? And what are they? The two officers are just a bit bewildered by this strange man but he seemed like he was okay. "Well that was quite a swim by the sound of it. Nia Gwyalen, of Cefnffordd Descent.
En route to Kochi, Hoshino.

"Do not tell me, that the famed Launceston Younger Militia capitulates in the face of a little march!", Aunt Blodwen teased when I asked her for a little break.
"That's not it, this stuff is about as heavy as shield and pack, but you have a speed in your step...", I replied and heaved air in and out of my lungs. "Plus, there is a stone in my boot."
Aunt Blodwen smiled a bit sheepishly and looked at the landscape - we were getting there, in two hours instead of three.
"Yeah, I've used the step I used when Ribin Gorm was my leader.", she said, attentive as we were in a part, where the path ran alongside jungle - the Gods alone knew, what was lurking in them and we only had our daggers.
I removed my boot and indeed, a little offending stone fell out.
"You ran like that through the Lake Mór Region?", I asked with a slight bit of disbelief.
"Sometimes. If we needed to be quick. Drink something, too.", she explained and did as she had advised me. "For the Battle of Gwaed, for example. We came just in the nick of time to save King Lugh's bacon... well, not the King, but his army."
I nodded, put on the boot again and took a deep gulp of my water. "Can't imagine how it was..."
"Don't try.", Aunt Blodwen said and scratched behind my ears. "Stay innocent... and oblivious to the affections of that boy you told me about..."
I blushed a deep red and a few minutes later, we were marching again, Aunt Blodwen singing a merry tune in Tafod, about how we'd poke holes in the ale barrels and drink from these holes. It was a merry tune and I, who I understood Tafod, sang along with the refrain.
Her step was a bit slower.

Nia Gwyalen, of Cefnffordd Descent.
Kochi, Hoshino.

It took around two and a half hours from Port Aya to Kochi.
We rounded the bend and suddenly, I felt Aunt Blodwen's hand on my chest, stopping me in my tracks. She grinned at the village entrance, then at me.
"You know, what I call this?", she asked in Tafod and indicated to the village, "When I was younger, this was my wet dream... an unprotected, unprepared, little village of innocent farmers... we'd break through the trees in the dead of night and within the hour, it would be alight..."
"And it is this, what they feared, that the Kyrenaians would do.", I said and began walking towards the village entrance.
"No, they wouldn't. Kyrenaian soldiers were never raiders.", Aunt Blodwen explained, "At least since the days of Ellaha Alsaalihin... which is ironic, seeing that she was a Lasite Lass... anyway, the Kyrenaians would most likely call this a target rich environment and just leave this place alone. No military value, unlike Aya, for example."
I nodded, it made sense.
We continued down the path and entered the village. There was a statue of the Goddesses in the center, one, where the dark one held the light one. For the locals, it might be provocative, but for me, it was a pretty statue, not unlike the statue of Rhiannon and Gavida in Chorn.
The villagers were paying their homages to the statues, a move, which we joined, though, granted, in the Selkie-Way of lowering our heads to the images of the Goddesses. Aunt Blodwen pulled out two incense sticks from her pocket an lit them, sticking them in an appropriate place, then bowed again.
And that was it.
"So...", I said, "...this is Kochi."

Celina Riar of the Tribe of Monaghan.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

We were greeted at the temple gates by a youthful looking woman in priestly garb, a little girl peeking out behind her. I smiled at the little lass as Mam spoke for the two of us.
"Greetings, Madame.", she spoke, "We indeed came from afar, from the Lands the Selkie call their home, to seek the treasures of knowledge and wisdom about this land, its peoples and their history." She let a beat pass, then bowed. "If it is to the liking of the Head of this Temple, we would like to ask for a roof to stay under - it should not be to your disadvantage."
I followed her move of bowing.

Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork.
Port Aurora, Aurora.

The innkeeper was a woman with animal ears on her head - and, as I had read up on the Kitan, I knew her to be a Spiorad. I lowered my head respectfully.
In Selkie, I told her: "Greetings, Milady Tsubaki, and well met. I have a reservation under the name of Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork, and if it is not too much trouble, I would love to take you up on the offer for a bath."
I rose again and smiled slightly, hoping, that she understood a word of what I had said.
Then I placed my passport onto the table, my SDF-Navy ID-Card next to it, and a credit card as well. There was more then enough coverage on the latter and the rest would make it undeniably clear, that I was, indeed, Siana Gualla.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

"Thanks." I reply to the two priestesses. "Indeed, speaking with your Matron has been very enlightening. I'll try to swing by the Temple to say hello." I add with a smile.
"So, what are you picking up?" I ask them.

From what he has spoken with other people, Alphonse has heard of the Kitan, one of the most sought out inns on Aurora Island. What they have heard, it was like many of the upscale hotels of Cartoonia, but more humble and more relaxing. And after a long travel from Cartoonia, it would be nice to but their bags down.

Kochi - Hoshino Island

As the visitors paid their own respects with incense sticks the aroma caught the attention of Ryoka whom was standing with her two friends in prayer and meditation "Mmm smell that?" She asked

"Hey," Hina objected, "I'll have you know I took a bath this morning." She pouted a bit

"No," She motioned her head over to see the newly arrived visitors and hearing This is Kochi they all smiled as Ryoka broke the ice "You're certainly right! Welcome to our little village of Kochi."

"Those incense you placed," Hina commented, "They smell nice, what kind are they? And thanks for showing some reverence to our Goddesses, that's very nice of you."

"Yeah, welcome," Yuriko nodded "what brings you fine folks up to a little farm village like this one? Most tourists stay in Port Aya. But it's refreshing to see some up this way."

Port Aya - Hoshino - At the Great Temple

Matron Moru smiled and nodded "If a place is what you need, we shall provide. Let me think a moment...Yes I have a good little place for the two of you. If you'll follow me, I'll be glad to show you a place to deposit your belongings. I assure all valuables will be well kept here, on my honor as the Matron of this Temple." She urged them to follow her beyond the lobby which is where most would gather to admire the statue of the Goddess, talk with the Priestess working about or socialize in general, into the living quarters of those who lived and worked on the grounds, the full timers. Through a series of halls and passageways where other young ladies weaved past them she lead them to a large wood door. "This is my quarters but I'm happy to lend it out for the festival."

"Matron?" Kaori was ready to question

"Not to worry, little one, I have arrangements with your own mother to let me stay with you two. That is if you would not mind as well." She patted the little girl's head. Kaori smiled and shook her head as a "No I don't mind"

"If the room is to your liking then, you are welcome to stay here. If you need something else, I'll be willing to help any way I can. Other than that, many of my young ladies and myself were preparing to have a meal together if you'd like to join us."

Port Aurora

"Lovely, welcome to the Kitan, Miss Gullad. I shall have your things sent to your room and I can have you escorted to our lovely baths. You're just in time a room opened up with a couple of guests in. Unless you rather have a solitary experience than you can always wait. In the meantime, Natsume."

Emerging from behind a curtain to a little office was another young fox lady, Natsume, "Yes ma'am?"

"Miss Gullad is in room 310, take her belongings up?"

"You got it!"

"Oh is Ren back from seeing the guests to B6?"

"Not yet, ma'am."

"No matter, I'll see her to B4 myself if she desires."

"Yes ma'am!"

"Thanks." I reply to the two priestesses. "Indeed, speaking with your Matron has been very enlightening. I'll try to swing by the Temple to say hello." I add with a smile.
"So, what are you picking up?" I ask them.

"Ah she'd love that! She had a great time chatting with you last year, says you were super interesting. Oh for us, we're grabbing up some more season essentials. Already been to six shops in the village, our own fault, kind of slept on the supplies run."

"Tondro, it's your fault." Her fellow priestess chastised "Because you kept procrastinating like you always do. It's such a bad habit of hers, always has been!"

"Hehe and here I thought the Priesthood was supposed to rid you of these old habits. Guess they die hard, hey?"

Emerging to the two young ladies with a crate was the shop owner and Sunplena's father, "Here ya go, ladies! Sorry 'bout the wait."

"Ah no problem at all, glad you still had something for us."

"Well if it isn't Joel!?" He gave a hearty slap hello on his backside "Welcome back, son! Glad you made it out again!"

“That would be lovely thank you, we would liek to place our bags somewhere. Please lead the way to the Kitan, and allow me to ask a few questions about the festival”.

Kochi, Hoshino.

We both bowed lightly, Aunt Blodwen taking over the explanation: "Where we come from, it is customary to honour local deities and spirits in the way we do, so it is appropriate to as well honour the Goddesses of this land.", she told the three, "The incense sticks are sticks of Great Woods Oak branches drowned in resin from a pine. They are used as incense since time immemorable."
"We're on a little hiking trip.", I added, Aunt Blodwen nodding. "Do you know if the local inn has a room free for the two of us?"

Celina Riar of the Tribe of Monaghan.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

"Please, that is not necessary.", Mam said as the local Priestess or High Priestess (actually, within our systems, what would be her designation?) offered us her own quarters. "We just need a place to store our stuff and to sleep, not more, mainly because we will be travelling and recording anyway."
"Mam is right, Milady Matron.", I said, "Besides, I would hate to impose not only on this temple's hospitality, but also someone else's." I nodded in Kaori's direction. "Though a meal does sound nice..."
"I agree.", Mam confirmed and smiled, "How about this - we all get something to eat and then we discuss the rooming situation?"
I nodded.

Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork.
Port Aurora, Aurora.

"Thank you, Ma'am.", I said and bowed my head, but kept my hands on my bags, "I'll take the bath with the other people." How bad could it be? were famous last words, so I did not say them. Besides, the sooner I got into hot water, the better for my tense muscles. Motioning to the fox girl, Natsume, I asked her to "Lead the way, please."
Once my stuff was deposited, I asked Natsume to lead me to the baths.
Room 310 would only be the room, where I slept, nothing too concerning, besides, I was curious as to how bathing around here worked. Especially once unknown people were involved.
Then again, an unknown person was a friend you did not know yet, so - let's see, what the baths had in store!
And Natsume got a little tip in the form of a silver coin, a Gil.

The waitress jotted down all orders, "Certainly, Black tea, Milk Tea and Green tea. I'll have those right out for you." She quickly went along to do so as Mr. Elric began his questioning.

"Ah excellent start. The festival is a centuries old tradition, it goes back to probably as long as we've been around as a people in these little islands of ours, with some variations over time of course. It's represents a few things, one is a tribute to our Goddesses of Madokamisim. If you need more on that, I'd more suggest hitting up the Temple. Anyway, there are many Paganistic religions that usually demand some kind of blood sacrifice of life, surprisingly Madokamisim isn't one of them, so we celebrate. We celebrate the harvests of rice, cocoa, fruits and other land based crops, the harvests of fish and marine life for consumption. We pray and give thanks and show jubilee for our blessings. The festival is also is about the change of seasons. A tropical climate like our own doesn't see a wide variety in seasons like your temperate climates would, so in the olden days, the passage of time was marked by the change of the winds. We'll be entering our monsoonal season soon, the winds have shifted that the bigger storms like hurricanes stay away but the heavy rains come with it. Of course now we use the Gregorian Calendar like everyone else."

Their cups of tea arrived for them. "Now would you like anything to eat or will it just be tea today?"

"oooh seeing the countryside huh? You're sure to have fun that way." Ryoka nodded. "And if it's an Inn you need, just off to your left here is Kochi's Traveler's Inn. I'm sure Lady Matsumae can find a room for you."

"I would think so, usually only those stopping over before making all the way to Port Aya are going to stay and I'm betting most have hit the road already." Hina agreed. "Miss Matsumae is very nice and runs it with her two granddaughters."

Port Aya

" There's no imposition truly, but if you'd like, we do ask those who stay with us to do a little light work for us. It'd be nothing too big, I assure you. Yes, please do join us for some lunch. If you're in the mood for some shellfish, crab and lobster, rice, fresh fruits, or simple trout."

Kaori held up Georgie and spoke as the puppet, "Matron is always wanting to help people so really you should do so." She continued in her own voice "And my mama will be joining the Priestess as well. She just completed her training to become full time. My best friend Plutona is waiting for us as well. And well, you can help me practice my talking. I'm getting much better at it."

"Well it seems my young Kaori here has already taken a liking to you folks. And she does like having interesting people to talk to."

Port Aurora

First was first Natsume showed the room, a cozy little spot, a window view, bed and little desk. "Lantern on the desk for your nighttime needs, water closet right there and your bed here. Well then, it's all set" Natsume patted her on the shoulder to follow her. "C'mon and follow me along, I'll get you all nice and set up." Back down stairs to the baths she guided her into the little change room that separated the hall and actual bath. "You can change and store your clothes here. Towels are here for you as well. If you be needing anything else, just ask, we staff members are always here to help ya! And if you see a cute little pink fox about yay high" she said holding her hand at about her own waist "Her name's Ren and tell her Natsume's looking for her. Thanks a bundle for the tip, yer awesome!"

Assuring she was settled in and good Natsume attended to her other duties. The bath itself was spacious and as mentioned it had a couple of others in already, a couple of young ladies from the island, up north "Ooh company! Welcome, good afternoon." Haruka said coming off the side with a bit of a splash the other girl with her, Kanata had to remind her, "Haru, don't splash it's impolite."

"oh sorry." It'd be a bit easier to see the two women through the steam up close. "But a bath with company is so much funner than without."

"You're like a little kid sometimes but I guess that's what makes you, you."

“Very interesting” Alphonse replies, as he writes down everything being said. A tradition going back to what might possibly since ancient times, which is a feat of amazement since many traditions from Cartoonia are mostly from the late 19th century. Harvest times, the changing of seasons, tributes to their god, which is something he might look into later, it sounds something out of medieval times, and it is absolutely interesting.

“Very interesting stuff. This Madokamisim sounds intriguing. I will have to check this out too”. Before he continues with the questions, the tea arrives.

Anyway, how's Fulmo?" he asks with a smile, referring to Sunplena's mother.

Back down stairs to the baths she guided her into the little change room that separated the hall and actual bath.

"Kochi's Traveler's Inn.", I repeated. "Thank you! Have a nice day!"
And with that, we went on our merry way, Aunt Blodwen nodding to the little group before she followed me with an enigmatic smile on her lips.
Run by a Lady Matsumae, it sounded a lot like a family business. We'd see, how old her granddaughters were, but I hoped, that at least one of them would be around my age.. one should add, that, while I could be called immortal for a lack of a better word, I was currently 13 Springs old.
Anyway, just to the left was the place, where we would stay the nights and declare it our base of operations for our daily hikes.
I reached the door and was about to push the handle down, when Aunt Blodwen placed a hand on my shoulder and pulled me slightly back to view the whole building: "What do you see?", she asked.

Celina Riar of the Tribe of Monaghan.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

The meals sounded delicious, but it was clear, that we would compensate them somehow. While some would ask for money, they wanted our strength and that was just fine by us - one bill less we had to convince the UoL to cover.
Anway, Kaori spoke up, first in the deep voice of a man, or as close as she could, and then with her normal voice, first as her bunny, then as herself...
"Well it seems my young Kaori here has already taken a liking to you folks. And she does like having interesting people to talk to.", the Matron explained.
"Really?", I said and fell in line next to her, "That's nice. I like talking to interesting people as well. You can find them in all shapes and sizes, too."
One should note, that I am the Captain of the Iris' Swimmer Team - and the one, who taught the kids from Elementary how to swim. Dealing with kids was my second nature by now.

Siana Gualla of the Tribe of Cork.

The room was comfortable - aboard a cruiser, I shared a room of that size with three other people, usually mixed gender, so it was comfortable to have such a large room all for myself.
We went to the bath and Natsume explained to me, how it basically worked, take off clothes, store them there, towels are there, staff is on call, sent a little vixen by the name of Ren to Natsume, I was awesome. The latter made me smile.
Let's see, how awesome I was, when she found out, what exchange ratio the Gil had to the NSD and what that was in Island Credits...
But anyway, I am afraid, that I will not go into detail about how I undressed and how I looked in my birthday suite. I entered the surprisingly spacious bath and I was indeed not alone.
Two other women were already there, Haru, the childish one, and another young woman. I smiled.
"Thank you, glad to be here. I am Siana.", I said and dropped the towel. It was impolite to wear it in the water, so it had to go as I climbed into the hot water and reclined, letting it rise to slightly above my shoulders. My sigh was one of content and relaxation. "This is nice..."

September 7th, Port Aurora
Harriet and Athena Freezis

To say she's surprised of their destination is an understatement in her testimony, she was baffled by all means that they were there when other options were available. Don't get her wrong, AHSCA is an wonderful nation and a tropical paradise she can enjoy, but; well, the Chancellery made quick note of advising everyone who planned on travel to AHSCA to be cautious of any incidents, which, in her life close to the political powers as member of an multi-billion Albat Corporate and Financial Empire, that was clearly a sign that both she and the young woman besides her knew well what it meant; that for the time being Asteria was skeptical that the failure of the Impeachment passing will be the end of the whole affair and that after the show pulled in the mediation when the Astarians in all their glory appeared univited to the negotiations, adding another link for tensions in the event, after all, it was no secret the fact that Marcella Villa appearing in an Astarian Aircraft kind of felt like an slap in the face to the government; not that they would admit it and the caution was just adviced as everyone feared it wasn't the end of it, like the impeachment attempt proved to the international community.
But still. Those that knew how it opperated, knew well, no one was happy, but; beyond the standard precedure of advicing of possible instability, they won't go out to join the hunt for the influence at the moment.

"You think the festival will go without a single worry?" A younger woman, 25 years old, beautiful and with black hair and violet eyes asked her. She was younger than her, and the current head of that economical power; smart, clever, hard working, efficient and beautiful, almost the spitting image of her when younger if it wasn't by her black hair. Athena Freezis, her daughter, the oldest of the three and current head of the Freezis Group; a woman which took the reins of it two years ago after they stepped down, one which had an stellar perfomance in all fields to get to the position there, she studied excellently and had already experience after beginning to work in the Group the moment she turned 18 officially while before that she took an intership when she turned 16; she was dead serious on understanding the company to make sure she knew where she should direct her efforts. She was dedicate and fierce after all.

She smiled lopsidedly at her daughter.

"You never know Thena, we might just have to find out." After all, it was her daughter which invited her to spend some mother and daughter time, it has been a while they did spent time together like this after all; shame Olivia couldn't join them, neither her daughter's boyfriend. He was a nice guy, handsome and very interesting.

"You never cease with that nickname huh?" Her daughter snickered at that. "But yeah, better keep our eyes open as we already passed the controls with our luggage." At least they were able to rest, and they had their stay booked for two weeks; courtesy of Olivia and trusted members of the board making sure to keep everything in check, and to see if they could take advantage of the situation economically speaking if the opportunity presents itself, but if not. Well, they came here for some mother and daughter time, and they will make the most of it!

Finally, she was here.
It was a massive note she needed to work on, a headline that would be perfect for her and another piece of the puzzle that was the Political Crisis that AHSCA went through in the aftermath of the Diplomatic Breakdown and subsequent crisis with Kyrenaia; a story she has been closely following since it unraveled back in june with complete focus from all actors, and this time, she was able to get a note with one of the local and most influential oppositors to the Duchess.
But before going with that, she should better present herself; Viveka Adler, mostly loved to be called Irene as a nickname of hers by those close to her; a 26 years old journalist for the Asteria Tribune, a renowed news site back at home in the International Section. Her presence in the islands was an interesting mix... Work and leisure. Yeah, that sounds odd, but; when having an interwiew with Stillstando's governor in relation to the event and his surprising abstention, it does make the two mix oddly enough.
She should plan one with the Communist Senator of Aurora and the Conservative or Traditionalist of Hoshino, but right now she knew they would be the entire talk of the media, and while of equal importance; she saw the Stillstando Hawk as another point of conflict with his open disdain to the Villa Government already known and the odd abstention given.

But first of all, she has to find a Inn or somewhere where to stay, more considering she wanted some breakfast as she didn't ate anything in the cruiser that brought her here. Hopefully it doesn't take long.

Cartoonia wrote:“Very interesting” Alphonse replies, as he writes down everything being said.

“Oh, do you have any pie? I would like a slice of pie please”.

"Indeed we do have pie, all around?"

"Pie sounds great, slice of blackberry for me."

Waitress took their orders for pie, just about any flavor was offered for whatever was desired "I'll have that right out for you."

"Medieval does sound about right, we can confidently say written records go that far and written records sadly have been a bit scarce in the pre-unity days. Between storms, wars and anything else a lot of early history is lost, only survived by oral legends in scant areas of the islands. That's the best part of the festival in the modern era, we can really start writing new history of how our faith interacts with the rest of the world. The festival has only become a very tourist attraction in the last half-decade or so. I'd say most don't mind, it's a great way to share our traditions and beliefs, as Madokamisim has never been about proselytizing."

Astares Amauricanum wrote:"Hey Maro." replies Joel with a large smile to his (maybe?) father-in-law as he gives him a slap on his backside too. "Thanks, I'm happy to be here again, you have no idea. This year has been hectic as hell, especially for us military reservists in the Malditas.
Anyway, how's Fulmo?" he asks with a smile, referring to Sunplena's mother.

"Well I can imagine with everything else that's going on." He was mostly talking about the events with the Duchess, though he really didn't have strong opinions on it either way, whether Joel talked about that, something else or both would probably come out. "Ah you know the old Battleaxe she's her usual self."

"I heard that!" she said emerging from the storeroom as the shop began to clear with the rush receding like the tide. "Maro, I swear I have to chase after you to do something as much as our children. I asked you to light a lantern or two. It's going to storm again soon. Hello again, Joel, it's good to see you again. Won't you have some bread I just made? I also would like you to take some to Sunplena. I know you're really here to see her and little Gracia." She smiled handing him the basket.

Kochi's Traveler's Inn

"You're welcome, hope to see you folks around the village some more!" they waved them goodbye "They're so nice!"

"It's nice to get tourists up here."

The inn was a nice little building rather unassuming, a little sign that told you exactly that it was an Inn with a simple hurricane lantern hanging above it that would be lit up at night or in bad weather but again, it was nice and sunny on Hoshino. Upon opening the door a little black cat dashed out in a blink-and-miss-it moment followed by a younger girl chasing after it "Miidniiiight come baaack!"

A young girl's voice from inside called out "Come in, Sora, don't worry about Tama" Behind the counter was indeed one of the girls who helped run this place and indeed the same aga as young Nia, "Oh! I'm sorry! I was expecting someone else but uh welcome to the TI."

Emerging beside her was an older girl, 16, her older sister "Aho!" she scolded with a knock on her head "Keep telling you to not call it that. Welcome to the Traveler's Inn of Kochi Village. You are a couple of new faces...? Eh ahem, anyway, welcome, if it's a room you need, it's a room we got."

Port Aya

Kaori nodded in agreement "Mhmhm!"

"I'd say it's settled then, well Kaori, let's go have ourselves a nice meal with our new found friends, shall we?"

"Mmm!" She again nodded with enthusiasm

"Please come with us then." The Matron lead them along the same hallway but taking a turn before the lobby leading to the main dining hall which was crowded with the many Priestesses who either worked and lived within the Temple or nearby. "There's mama!" Kaori pointed out her mother, a tall woman with her hair tied back and partially obscuring her bad eye "Kaori, there you are!" She greeted her girl, "I heard you might go island hopping."

"Well now there's some people from faraway, so I can stay longer, mama?"

"Of course, you can always stay as long as you like. Oh, I'm Fumio and I'm this little one's mother." She greeted them "Matron, having lunch with us?"

"I'd love to. I left Fuyu in charge of the front, she can handle it."

"Good good. I'll take next coverage then."

"Lovely! Now why don't we sit and eat, freshly hauled in as I understand."

The Kitan - Aurora

"Oh isn't it delightful? I really would like to try out their unique specialty baths."

"Well just be sure we don't spend all our money here. Uh we're from far up North, it's our first time down in Port Aurora so I guess Haru is just a bit excited. Well I am too, but she's just more so."

"Siana, that's a pretty name." Haru added quickly "And it's our vacation. We had such an awesome year, we deserve to treat ourselves, Kanata."

"Oh I guess you're right on that part at least."

Port Aurora

The festival was a time of celebration and a time of rest for everyone and anyone in the islands, even leaders, from the highest of high in the Offices of Her Majesty to the minor Chiefs and Chieftesses alike. From Narima Village, the village that was in shadow of the old Kyrenaian military station was not the village's high chief, but rather third-in-command, the daughter Asahi Tamaki, aged 17, she worked with her parents, head of the village most days, but now she was here on vacation in the glorious capital. Well the shaky month (literally) had rattled enough nerves, it was good that the festival was putting people at ease, enough so that she could take her younger sister, Raia, 10 and her sister's best friend, Ouran also 10. They literally stepped off the boat like many others, a bit quicker than going overland but no less rough given the seas were a bit choppy today thanks to nearby storms on other islands. Well nothing they couldn't handle

"Wooow!" Raia practically jumped into the air. "This is the port, it's so big!"

"Amazing!" Ouran said

"Okay you two." Asahi giggled "C'mon, plenty of time to look around later, we should make sure we're settled." It was the first visit for the young ones but Asahi had been here a few times before so she was a bit more used to it and she certainly did know the city well enough she'd be able to guide anyone around would.

"Hey sis, think lots of folks going to ask you about what happened?"

"Oh I can't imagine, I doubt nobody will even know we're from Narima unless we mention it. Besides what can we really tell that everyone already doesn't know? Let's not worry about that, we're here to have fun. But we'd better have a meeting point in case we get separated "

"Mhm" They both nodded as she took their hands, most teens probably wouldn't want to hang out with their little sister and little sister's friend but honestly she didn't mind, any excuse to come down to Port Aurora was good.

Schala

This was the port city of the middle island of the chain, Stillestando, roughly translated as Truce as a historical ground of treaties between the islands but today it was like a lot of the other ports, bustling with excited festival goers from all over. Showing the influence of much of its neighbors it could be a bit hard to say what made this culturally different but one thing was apparent, it certainly had a western motif to it, Euro-esque perhaps but again still largely a time capsule. Plenty places to stay but if asked most would point the lady to the Lighthouse (the name of the inn not an actual light house). Greeted by a small girl, early teens, her right eye was obscured by a patch as well as her long silvery hair but you could also make out a scar. She was dressed in a frilly maid style dress complete with a cute mob hat "W-welcome to the Lighthouse, your b-beacon in a stormy s-sea! C-can I help you?" She smiled holding the log book and then setting it down remembering oh yeah she'd have to write in that.

Before I could reply to my Aunt's question, the whole thing with the cat happened, which led me to turning to my Aunt and telling her: "I saw a cat."
"Me, too.", she said with a smile and entered, leading us in and through the whole ordeal at the reception desk. I smiled, one of the sisters really seemed to be around my age. But as said, my Aunt took the lead, switching back to English: "And a room we need, so tere is a business opportunity for you." She let a beat pass. "If possible, a room big enough for two occupants or two seperate rooms. If the latter, they can be small, too. I doubt we will be here for much time except for sleeping."
That was right - we would be hiking.

"The pleasure is ours, Milady Fumio.", was the only thing Mam got in while the Matron led us through her Temple to where there would be... it's lunchtime soon, I guess.
Anyway, we went along with everything and I admit, that my mouth was watering upon the thought of freshly caught seafood... we had lakefood at the Iris, but that was not really the same, I think.
As we went, I turned to Kaori and her rabbit: "You are quite the curious one, aren't you?"

Speciality baths, huh... I had the money, that was not the question, but maybe not today, but tomorrow. Kanata and Haru, then, treating themselves after a rough year.
"I know the feeling.", I replied and leaned back, stretched my legs. "I am an Ensign of the SDF-Navy, you see, and this year was my Year 4 Cruise. Which means, that I spent the better part of this year on a tight, steely vessel with four hundred other people learnig how to be an officer while sailing the waves and visiting ports all over the world for goodwill port calls... and nowhere I had the time to visit such a bath, if there were such baths in the first place."

He took his seat near the bar stand and asked -"Yo, dude! What's on tap today? Mah' intuition says, ya' got some special rum, one can't find anywhere else! Am I right? And... Do ya' know about some interesting or unusual places round' here? Or perhaps any stories? I am here for the first time, and as far as I know, guides don't tell about the most interesting thingies. I can also tell something about affairs and life back home, on Sky Reaver territories, the land of the free, brave and awesome!"
Sky Reavers are retconned Skyhooked. A bunch of crazy, wild everpartying semi-anarchists, who are resistant to cold, heat and diseases, can can proccess booze like hell. MT/PMT tech. Wanna know more or have a request? It's here: https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=505973

Remember, the fact, that we are semi-anarchy doesn't mena, that ya' can go around and rob random people. We still got law and order, loose as they are.
