Berengar's heart leapt slightly as he saw Ida enter. As far as he was concerned, she looked radiant.
"Ida!" he called, as he ran up to her. He flung his arms around her and hugged her tightly, not noticing Eyk for the moment.
After a bit, he broke the hug, and gazed into her eyes. He seemed somewhat worse for wear; his were a little bloodshot, and were ringed by deep circles. Some stubble had grown out as well, but still, he was recognizably the same young man who had fallen for her a year ago.

"I've missed you." he said.

Maria "Blazes" Błyskawica
Błyskawica, or 'Blazes', as her friends and family knew her, smiled as he saw Viola enter.
The two went back...not that long, actually. They had met a short while ago, in a strange, far-off Middle Eastern country of little note that had been invaded since then. They had exchanged a few words, and Viola had given her a blue ribbon; which she now wore, tied still around her arm.

Perhaps it was mere coincidence that they had met again, but she would make the most of it. She fell in silently behind Viola, before suddenly speaking; "Ey there, Viola. How you been? Who's the lad with you?"

[...]

Ida Findehoof.
"Ida!", a familiar voice called out and I smiled as I saw Berengar jog towards us and laughed into his shoulder, when he hugged me.
My smile got somber, when I looked into his eyes. They were underlined by dark circles and the stubble on his cheeks was so unlike him... he seemed so hurt, so wounded.
It reminded me a bit of my Grandfather, my Mother's Father, honestly, who once told us, that one can come home from war with all limbs and still wounded. He had been on the slopes of Mount Vellenge.
"I've missed you.", he said.
"I missed you, too.", I replied and softly put a hand on his cheek. The stubble felt weird, but his cheek felt alright. Then I decided to kiss him softly, quickly, onto the lips, no need for tongue (yet). I struggled to find words, visibly, then just pulled him back into my hug.
Eyk, meanwhile, had his back turned to us, not as an insult, but to give us privacy.

Eoin Clipthóir of the Tribe of Dundalk.
We both had a start as the woman spoke up, but Cousin Vi had turned around first.
"Blaze!", Viola called out with a smile to the woman in chainmail, "Wonderful to see you! I've been fine - thank you for getting me out of there, again!"
I smiled as she threw her arms around the other woman in a deep, heartfelt hug.
Then she added, motioning to me: "Blaze, this is Eoin, a distant cousin of mine and my date tonight."
"And only tonight, please do not get the wrong idea.", I said, well aware of my role. I bowed my head. "It is a pleasure, Miss Blaze." Rising from the bow, I extended my hand, obvious in how I held the hand, that I would breath a kiss onto the armoured back. "And thank you from my end as well."

Ahhh, okay. That made sense now. She didn't watch much of her own nation's television or cinema, let alone that of other nations. Could it cause an issue? Possibly. She knew for sure that such views into another culture would become invaluable when trying to understand the people of that nation, She would not have that window. Mass culture within the Theocracy was something more streamlined than most. "Alexandra is a beautiful name, has a ring of greatness to it. Not that the others don't. A very flowing name," she said in complimentary fashion as she drank over the question aimed at her. Her story was going to be far less intriguing and revelatory than her answer. The Imperial Shrine was not one given to winning it's political battles just yet, after all. "The Severia have been part of the Noble Dynasty of Jabasa for three thousand years. Talau is a common family name; one of the six founders of the Dynasty, martyred for the Shrine in conflict shortly after she helped found it."

Once we were inside, it was the general phase of looking around and seeing, who else was present - I had the rough feeling of being watched more intently then usual for such occassions, for but a moment, but it passed.
Still, I smiled, both of my sisters on my arms.
Looking at the women present, and being fair about the age groups (let's be honest, my sisters were pretty, but with those two adult women, who came in shortly after us, they simply could not compete yet, likewise comparing them to a teenager, who barely lost their milk teeth was unfair, too), they were the prettiest - well, with one exception.
Gisella... well, she was cute.
And pretty.
And she was dressed impeccably.
And Siham rammed her elbow into my side.
"Hey.", I made and looked at her with a furrowed brow.
"Don't stare.", she said in Kyrenaian, then looked to Aischa, "What do you think?"
"You do recognize the girl, don't you?", my other sister asked and Siham nodded. "I'm going to get something to drink. No need to overwhelm her!"
Siham grinned and pulled me away, towards Gisella.
"You know, what Mister Safir had said?", she reminded me.
I nodded. Be courteous... and see if you can't get a few nice images for the yellow press.
I took the lead for the last few meters.
"Hello, Gisella.", I greeted, switching back into English, "How do you do?"
Extending my hand, the gesture made it quite apparent, that I would take her hand not for a shake, but to lead it to my mouth and to breath a kiss onto its back. Siham, in her quite impressive dress, threw Gisella a smile and waited until approached.

As I began to settle in, get a little more at ease with the environment and many people around, I started to relax and be a little less tensed up. A bit of a bad habit of mine, I get nervous, I tense up, almost like I'm shrugging my shoulders at times. Well I was feeling fine, not bad, at ease now but as I turned around who should approach me other than Prince Mahmut ibn-Idris? Well can't say I wasn't told so that Kyrenaians would be here. I extended my hand as he reached out for it and gave a gentle kiss to it, ah he was a charmer indeed.

"Good evening, Prince." He called me Gisella rather informally, kind of odd but it didn't bother me. Marcella right now might take it as a slight, maybe it is a good thing she stayed behind. Still I felt until I was told otherwise I should probably maintain that cordialness and a bit of distance between us. I curtsied a little "I'm quite well this evening, thank you. I only just arrived at the Castle a moment ago, I'm still taking in my surroundings and hadn't noticed you were already here." I'll spare him the whole story of me being in Abetton for a few weeks now. My eyes wandered a bit, just in case I still needed to make a hasty retreat out, less I give the press more to talk about me. I did take notice someone from Holy Marsh was here, well that's a relief. "I hope you're having a pleasant evening too."

Prince Mahmut ibn-Idris.
Ah... Prince.
Formality.
That one... smarted. It might even hurt more then her looking for exits. Her formal cordialness...
"Indeed, I do. We, that means my sisters and I, have just arrived as well. Castle Liek is a splendid sight, that is for sure.", I said and gave a small, sad smile, "Okan, Prince Okan ibn-Dardan, I am sure, that you remember him, would love it here, but alas..." I shrugged, then pretended as if something came to my mind again. "Oh, my apologies, and I just mentioned them!"
I motioned to the young woman at my side.
"If I may introduce? My younger sister Siham.", I introduced, "Siham, Princess Gisella Villa of the UIS."

A moment passed, before Mariana picked up after Sophia. "So, what brings you here?"

Margot shook Mariana’s hand with a smile as the two greeted her in return. An Italian? That was interesting. “What brings me here? Honestly she kind of lost track of how long she stared at the paintings on the wall. Boy art was mesmerizing, it just made her imagination run wild. To be honest, Yukiko had considered possibly writing under a pseudonym but she'd have to balance that with government duties. She may not be THE ruling Princess but she still was meant to have some of the responsibilities with her elder brother, mother, sister-in-law, other lords and ladies of Government. It was a lot, plus when the time came to marry, she'd likely have her own Domain to be rule over. Ack, no time to think about that right now, this is a party time is now to enjoy it, but where did Momiji go? She wondered and maybe muttered out loud. There seemed to be more people here than when she and Momo arrived, a lot more people she started to move through the crowd, a lot of strange faces indeed, she wondered how many might be foreign how many might be native to this land, with her eyes darting around the room to find her sister she bumped into Sophia. "oh, I beg your pardon." Yukiko bowed with an apology.

Sophia had herself been distracted by her surroundings herself before bumping into Yukiko. "Oh!," she said on impact. After she apologized, Sophia returned the apology herself. "Oh, i'm sorry. Kinda got lost in all...this," she said, motioning to the crowd.

Mariana Giuseppe - Sophia Hillshire

Mariana seemed stunned, for a second, and then laughed. "Nah, nah. I'm not royalty. Neither is Sophia."
Sophia nodded, confirming Mariana's words. "Mister Hillshire said it would be good to meet...'proper girls'?"
Mariana cringed slightly at Sophia's words. "...yeah, whatever she said."

He forced himself to smile; it had made his day back when he had first heard it, and really, it was good news. But still, his smile looked fake. "Well, Momiji, I'm Evelyn Zaccaria, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said. "And I agree, we do have the same trek of mind, if you enjoy looking at art and getting purposefully lost that is," Evelyn smiled a tad bit by her own comment. She's always loved wandering the halls of the palace back home without any idea where she was.

"Might I ask where you're from? The invitations never mentioned a guest list." She asked. She was always interested in peoples homes. Most of her friends from school were from outside of Milan and Evelyn never once stopped listening to them about what life outside the big city was like.

“Ahh. You must be high class then? That’s why I’m here as well. To meet ‘proper people of my status’ as my sister says.” Margot could sense an air of ‘I don’t want to be here’ mostly from Mariana. But to be fair, she didn’t want to be here either. “Sophia, you call your father ‘Mister’?” She asked curiously. Maybe it’s normal where they are from but she’s never heard that among her circles. Yep, we were of a branch of the Lománocht-Family and we were associated with the islands between the Mainland and the Archipelago, especially with Shella. My Father was the head of the Clipthóir Shipbuilding Company, a traditional shipyard in Shella, and Eachtara Cruise Lines Limited, too, so he had an economic standing, too.
I also knew, that Blaze was a shipgirl, Vi had told me. I knew a few, too, Marcharnnau, for example (and to be honest, I had crushed on her for a while, until she had let me down gently).

Technically, Siham was an Amira, a Princess, too, but she was not enarmoured with protocol, so she might not even have noticed her peer calling her by her first name.
"Sounds like fun.", she said, "Might I accompany you on that tour?"
We had a rough idea about what sort of business Marcella-Khana had to attend and while we would have bet on the current 'crisis', we would have been wrong. Father had an awful lot of work, too, all the time, which was why his appearances at such balls were few and far inbetween.
For a moment, I wondered what Aischa was doing - most likely watching us from afar and enjoying that.

"-and Māris," he finished, as a smaller and rather diffident hand made its way into hers. "So, what brings you here, your majesty? Any social interest, or is this strictly business, as it were?"

Daniel made his way towards the older gentleman who he recognized as a Prince of Brettenwald and two guys who were obviously his sons, they were talking with Queen Cecile of Lux Pulchrae. Calista had drilled him on some of the important guests.
He snuck a look back at Calista and Ayla who were seriously discussing something at the buffet table and continued on his path towards the small group of four.
He felt a little intimidated, Hospe tended to stay aloof to affairs outside of Oatland, so these guys probably hadn't even heard of him but on the flipside that meant they probably hadn't heard of his antics, like accidentally-on-purpose starting a fire on his cousin's yacht, which was part of the reason why Jeffrey texted him details about this party and practically kicked him out of Hospe to get him out of everyone's hair for a little while. Calista just had the misfortune to chosen as his chaperone and Ayla always stalked him anyway.
"Hello everyone, hope I'm not interrupting something private. I'm Prince Daniel, Hospe." He introduced himself as he arrived, turning to Cecile and then to the Prince."Your Majesty, Your Highness."

I smiled, not exactly what I planned on but oh well, it's fine. "Why, I'd be delighted if you'd join me, Siham. You're welcome to join us too, Prince Mahmut, if you like." Right, I can't let my nerves get to me about this, it's like I said earlier, we weren't sworn enemies now, just a bit tense. Besides sis has made amends with the Sultanate Government. I had noticed the nearby open door which lead to a corridor, I think I saw a couple of other guests head down there just a moment ago.

Cecile politely smiled as she shook the elder Kairan's hand before turning to the younger brother, shaking his hand kindly and firmly with a smile as well. After her greetings, Magnus asked a question, one which she wasn't sure the answer to. She didn't think she had the authority for "business", but why shouldn't she? Right? "Actually," she answered "a bit of both. I love social gatherings but I wouldn't mind getting to business either. Usually, my husband does that but I don't see why I cannot do so as well."

Mariana Giuseppe - Sophia Hillshire
Sophia froze, and gears seemed to be turning in her head as she remained silent. Finally, she nodded. "Yes. I do."
Mariana nodded, narrowing her eyes slightly at Margot's characterization, but not openly objecting. "Well... I 'spose you could call us...that?"

"I promise.", I said. Gods, what to do? Nothing I could do here came to mind (and get your mind out of the gutter), except... "Wanna go and explore the gardens a bit? We can catch up there."
And I can see how I can really help you., I added in my mind.
Eyk, quite honestly, was secondary and he knew it.

Eoin Clipthóir of the Tribe of Dundalk.
I smiled.
"The pleasure is mine, Miss Blaze.", I said and then added: "I am, with full name, Eoin Clipthóir of the Tribe of Dundalk. But please, Eoin is fine - Mister Clipthóir is my Father."

Berengar
Berengar seemed visibly relieved at Ida's response, and nodded in response to her offer of a stroll in the gardens. Assuming Ida took the lead, he would follow her out, into the gardens. He glanced up at the night sky, and tried to make out a few stars.
"Light pollution's a pain." he muttered, trying to change the subject. "Can't make out too many stars, much less the constellations or the Milky Way."

Blazes
"Clipthóir?" Blazes' mind churned, before it dawned on her.

"...ah. I see." She shifted uncomfortably and narrowed her eyes. "...Your father's the one that operates the cruise liner company, yes?"

Victor Cui
Castle Liek

Victor decided to move toward the group with a Prusso-Pole and a Selkie in attendance; introductions would have to be made, of course, but this was not his first event. He would wait for an opportunity to introduce himself...
"Good evening, ladies," Victor said, right palm on his chest and bowing slightly, "If I may be so bold, I am Victor Cui, civil engineer. My father is Francis Cui, former President of the New Visayan Islands." Noting how one of them looked uncomfortable--something about a cruise liner company, if he overheard it right--he decided to play tactful: "My apologies, was I interrupting something?"

Just then, someone else had come by and introduced himself, a Prince Daniel of Hospe. "Good evening Prince. We just started so I don't think you 'ave interrupted much."

"Oh, good. Anyone seen any good movies lately?"Daniel laughed at his own lame conversation starter.

Duchess Calista

"So, anyway I took this online quiz..." Ayla started.

"What are you doing?" Calista asked.

"What? Me? I'm not doing anything"

"Exactly, you look terrified."

"I am not terrified! I just don't know anyone here."

Calista felt for the younger woman, she had clearly never been in this situation before. Ayla could be quite charming but her family's position in the nobility was mostly honorary and she had probably never seen these many foreign dignitaries.

"Okay, tell you what, follow me." She said taking Ayla's arm.

"Follow you where?"

"Relax, the talking is one of my favourite parts about these types of events. A lot of people's lives here are so drastically different from yours, even the mundane things to them might seem interesting to you." Calista turned to her friend. "And if I know you at all, you love to talk."

Ayla rolled her eyes but smiled."Fine, lets go."

Calista smiled to herself, Ayla was pretty chill when she wasn't obsessing over Daniel, the crazy part was only a side effect of being a Hospean noble. She led Ayla towards the other guests.

“Where are you from?”

Princess Siham ibn-Idris.
Okay, let me have a shot here for a moment.
I turned to my brother: "Say, Mahmut, can you leave us alone for a moment - gotta talk about icky girly stuff, like battleaxes, hunting falcons and skin lotions."
He looked confused for moment, but then nodded. "Sure.", he said and turned to Gisella, bowing in respect: "Gisella-Amira."
And he was off.
As soon as he was out of earshot, and I had made sure, that he was out of earshot, I decided to not give a flying damn about personal space and stepped into Gisella's.
"Listen, my dear... officially, I complimented your dress, which, by the way, really looks cute.", I told her, "Seriously, I know enough lads, who would love to have a dance with you, doubly so in that... and I am not only talking about the dork that is my older brother there." I let that one hang for a moment. "I can see, that you are uncomfortable in our presence and I have a rough idea as to why, but before I get him out of your hair for the evening, I want you to know one thing: He did not approach you to mess with you. He likes you and I can see why."
I let that one hang for a moment.
"So, when you go back home after all is said and done, tell that to your elder sister: That the UIS has at least one ally in the Sultanate due to the utter devotion and silent romanticism of a dork.", I added, "And give her the best regards of myself, my sister and of Ilkhan Idris of Sarepta. Not everyone is satisfied with how this is handled by the Sultana, especially not among the younger generations."
I ended that with a smile, bowed my head lightly.
"Gisella-Amira - see you later.", I said and turned to rejoin my siblings.

Ida Findehoof.
I nodded.
"Yeah...", I held his hand as we walked through the dark gardens and gently squeezed it. We were slow, but we also weren't out to crack any speed records. "You know, I still model for Bicíní Industries - one of the lads is a stargazer and he once invited Enya for a small trip out to a distant cliff for stargazing. Light pollution in the Free Lands really depends on where you are. Fortham and the entire Lake Mór Region or Silverport are like here, but up in the Nosey, it's beautiful at night."
I smiled. I would have to show all of that to him one day.
"Anyway... he wanted for Enya and him to be alone and romantically stargazing and you know the drill. Enya interpreted it as open invitation." I was grinning at the memory by now. "By the time he gave up on wooing Enya by trying to single her out, we were around four dozen people, including at least a dozen kiddos. He began to teach them about the stars and navigation by them and a lot of other neat stuff and us older ones listened in with interest." I smiled. "By the end of the evening, Enya kissed him on the cheek."

Eoin Clipthóir of the Tribe of Dundalk.
Ah...
"Yes, Eachtara Cruise Lines Limited.", I said and smiled. I saw her to be a more on guard then before, but I tried to not make her notice, that I noticed. If I made it... "The company was founded in response to the entrance regulations due to COVID, which only allowed people to enter after they spent at least two weeks at sea, on the same ship. So, instead of sitting around on a pompous, lumbering, fat floating polluter, my Father and us, that means my Mother, my older sister and I, had the idea of giving people, who had to do these two weeks, a little bit of an adventure along the way. Eachtara Cruise Lines Limited offers cruises as a seaman or seawoman on a traditionally built Selkie-Ship, be it as a rower on a Caogaidí or as a seaman on one of the legendary Capall na dTonn, the Selkie-Wavehorses. We pick them up in their departure harbours at international destinations, for example in Kyrenaia, and then sail to Oilean na mBeo... the odd misadventure and event might be involved as well."
I let a beat pass.
"Of course, the majority of these vessels have ship girls and if you are imagining them as pompous brats or worse, you could not be more mistaken if you tried.", I added with a grin, "Fóntar, for example, one of our Capalls and the unofficial flagship of our fleet, fancies herself as a bit of a pirate."

"Did I offend you Signorina Mariana?" Margot wondered, observing the girl's expression and tone. "Well, how about 'not poor'? Would that be more accurate? It's apparent class and wealth can be exclusive, here at least." she said innocently, noting the other peculiar looking guests at the event earlier.

Cecile half-hardheartedly smiled at the prince before answering "I don't watch movies. I can't remember the last time I saw one. On second thought, I might feel a bit interrupted." she added "I was in the middle of conversation with Lord Magnus, if he would like to continue?" she shot a side-glance at him. She actually did find herself at an impasse, she didn't want to be rude and shoo Daniel away, but she found Magnus to be potentially more important. Although she and Daniel couldn't be more than four years apart, her duties leaned her much closer to someone of the much older Brettain prince's stature.

Her response was exactly what Daniel expected, from his experience all "heir-to-the-throne" types had some similarities such as a tendency to take life way too seriously.
"Sorry, my joke was in poor taste. I too would be disappointed if important people such as ourselves gathered to discuss drivel such as movies."Daniel said, hoping he didn't sound sarcastic, when trying to be formal, he tended to lay it on too thick. He genuinely wanted them to like him, or at least tolerate him.
"Anyway." He continued. "I think I would like to hang around, Hospe has never met with anyone from your countries. I hope we can find some common ground, perhaps even make some deals."

Princess Yuki

"Oh, I'm from Katase. We're just to the east of here, a peninsula that narrowly touches Abetton's land border. "Uuh hehe sorry I guess you didn't need to know that extra detail. I'm sure you haven't heard of us, I mean we're not a big power broker in world politics, we haven't had a war in a good two centuries and well, we're just kind of ordinary. Well what about you?"

As for people I'm actually here with my sisters as well, Anna and Tieria. If you came by the food you might have seen them, but I doubt it, sometimes we're able to blend in like that. Though, I'm happy to hear that there are more people there now, hopefully our sisters won't be too bored before the main event, though mine are nothing like your sister Yukiko, Anna and Tieria can be more outgoing than anything." Evelyn said. It's been a while since she talked to someone like this, she's been held up recently with a bunch of school work that she's been missing actual conversations.

Princess Momiji

"Yeah that's fair enough, we're small fry but yeah it's very nice there! Maybe you'll come visit it some time, plenty of natural beauty and thriving cities to behold. I'm sure Yuki will be just fine, perhaps she'll bump into your own sisters and or someone else and strike up a conversation. She can be social when you get her going. She's like a windup doll sometimes, just need to turn the key a few times and off it goes."
