[The Selkie]

The University of Fortham

invites Students of History to attend the Summer Trimester 2021 at our University. We have a fascinating programme set up (see below) with some of the best lecturers in the world and with exciting topics to boot: Delve into the secrets of the the High Kingdom of Mountain and Forest or learn about Selkie Naval History - there are a lot of lectures and seminars to choose from!
We will take care of accomodations and student visa.
Details for applying below!

Students may take the grades from the lectures and have them recognized by their home university in accordance with the regulations of said universities. The UoF does not cover any damages to life, limb and mental health sustained during the stay in the Free Lands. Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.

Hello and welcome to Come to the Lake, there's a University!
Inspired by a recent conversation I had with a friend (thank you, PPC), I am trying my hand (again) at a University-RP, this time set at the University of Fortham, right in the center of the Free Lands.
Main focus, however, will be less the lectures (though I do plan to write some of them out, but don't worry, you'll neither have to write tests nor write seminar papers), but the social interactions, both between the foreign exchange students and the local students as well as the professors.
As this is where I feel most comfortable, the foreign students will be limited to the Faculty of History (though the Clubs are a bit more open).

The start of the IC is planned for the 16th of August, 2021.
The IC is up.

Of course, we also need...

1. No Godmodding, Meta-Gaming or similar stuff. No exceptions.

1.1. If you believe, that such an instance is occurring, please bring it to attention on this OOC in a calm manner.
1.2. ALL NPCs are controlled by me, mostly due to cultural particularities. No exceptions.
1.3. For convinience, I will play all characters from my nations from this account. For all needing a list and proof...
1.4. Be polite, at least on the OOC.

2. I am the OP, my word is law. I reserve the right to add to this list of rules or to amend rules if necessary. I likewise reserve the right to refuse any application without going into detail.
3. IC on the IC-thread, OOC on the OOC-thread. The OOC-thread is there to be used.
4. Permitted Characters:

4.1. No high ranking military or government officials. No exceptions. (Their children are fine, though.)
4.2. Please see to it, that your characters are between 20 and 25. I may grant exceptions to that rule, but only if the character is older then 25 and if a good reason is given.

4.2.1. No child prodigies. No exceptions.
4.3. Keep in mind, that your characters are under the right and law of the Free Lands. That includes a total ban on all firearms in private hands (and your people will be there as private persons, end of discussion). If I catch anyone posting anything about his characters having firearms in any form, he or she will be mauled to death by rabid Tines. And no, there will be no escape. No exceptions.
4.4. Appearance of your characters, a.k.a. IMAGE OR DESCRIPTION. Please choose pictures, that are SFW and where your character is easily identifiable. Anime-Pictures are allowed, but are under the same restrictions. You can also write a description of him or her. And it does not have to be a passport photo. Please use a maximum size of 550 by 550 pixels or hotlink and please do not spoiler.
4.5. Non-Humans: Non-Human Humanoids are permitted, the rest is not. No magic (and no, I don't care, what you call it). No exceptions.

Only exceptions to that rule:
4.5.1. Shipgirls/Kanmusu/Kansen, whichever term you prefer (and yes, one of the Professors is a Shipgirl).
4.5.2. Strike Witches Magic. You know, who you are.
4.6. You have to provide an RP-sample (a link to a RP you participated in, from the account you are applying with, showing how you interact with other players, not a post written on the fly) and answer the question “Have you read and understood the rules?” with "We don't need no education." No exceptions.

4.6.1. Only exception: Members of the region The Strategic and Economic Alliance don't have to provide an RP-Sample (though it would be appreciated because formalities). However, the answer to the rules-question is still mandatory.
4.7. Original characters only. You can use the picture of whoever you want, though (God knows I do ; )).
4.8. Maximum number of characters per player: 3. Exceptions might be granted if there is a good reason.
4.9. If your character has servants or something like that, he or she will have to live without them. No exceptions.

5. No murders. Violence only if all involved agree to it. And expect it to be dissolved quickly.

5.1. Security. Will be provided by the Free Lands, if needed by rabid Tine. If you feel the need for your character to have a bodyguard or someone of that kind, it's most likely a break of Rule 4.1.. No exceptions.

6. No military actions, declarations of war or similar stuff. No exceptions.
7. Try to avoid oneliners. I know, that it can't be avoided sometimes, but please put a bit of effort into this RP.
8. If you have questions for me or other players, ask. That's what this OOC is for!
9. The IC is planned for the 16th of August, 2021. At that point, all of your characters will be in Lecture Hall 111 of the University of Fortham's Scuab Campus. They will have arrived in the dorms the University gave them at the latest the day before and already set themselves up. We don't need to go through the entire rounds of arrival in the Free Lands and transporting everything to Fortham and so on and so on.
10. COVID: COVID is a thing that exists, the Free Lands have a handle on it, your characters will not bring a variant and are either vaccinated or recovered. No exceptions.
