HOST VOTING RESULTS!

Or "result" to be technically accurate. Yes, there's been only one bid so, by default, the host for the 92nd WorldVision Song Contest is none other than Anÿme, Darkmania! Stand up, take a bow buddy!

Anyway, as a result of this, we will be repeating what we did at the 82nd edition where there was also only one bid. Darkmania will be allowed to open the IC thread before the 26th July if he so chooses and sign-ups will still be open until the aforementioned date. In fact, this won't mean any dates will change, it just means that we just get up to an extra week of contest.

Once again, a hearty congratulations to our winner, good luck to everyone and I'm not going to quote that line.

- EJM

As the sole bidder who only bidded to prevent Placey from getting his fingers from touching WSC, you are now free to post on the IC thread.

I know the city's name is funny, but please spare the anime-jokes here.

After weeks of deliberation, Bahia Roja has a representative!

When Bahiarojenses across the nation heard the name "Suicidal Pickles", they didn't know what to expect. But as soon as the band started playing the undeniably catchy song "Wake Me Up", audiences were hooked. After their performance, "Wake Me Up" became a hit throughout Bahia Roja. The song has been dominating the airwaves and charts for three weeks and it shows no signs of stopping.

Some music critics are confused as why such a song would be elected to represent Bahia Roja. But, it seems that "Wake Me Up" found a special place in the hearts of Bahiarojenses, and besides, they don't really care about winning the contest. (Quite frankly, most of them don't even care about the contest at all).

So there you have it folks! Bahia Roja has gone with an angsty, but extremely catchy song to represent the nation. Will the risk pay off? Who cares? This is going to be fun!

Puppet (IC associated state) of Adab.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. -Nelson Mandela

Can't believe I forgot to do this last night. Shows you how on the ball I am. Oh well.

Anyway, sign-ups are now closed, so if anyone signs up now I'm afraid it won't be counted. Instead, check back in about three weeks when a link to the 93rd WorldVision Song Contest will be up.

IZMEDUAN TOP 100 ALBUMS
Letenje has fastest-selling album of the year with 'Ablaze,' first Izmeduan future bass producer to score two #1 albums on the overall chart.

Though Izmedu is no longer active in the WorldVision and World Hit Festival scenes, notable alumni from those two contests are still going strong by releasing new music for fans hungry for more material from former WV/WHF stars. Letenje, now known for bringing the once underground Izmeduan EDM scene into the mainstream, struck his original claim to fame by placing 3rd in the 41st World Hit Festival (with a record of festival appearances and productions prior to his participation). Skip to the present day, Letenje has released his major label sophomore effort, 'Ablaze,' to critical acclaim and following a targeted campaign of four singles. The hype from critics matched the commercial performance of his new release, moving an estimated 22,000 equivalent units and charting at #1 as a matter of course, enough to outsell the rest of the top 10 combined. The continued effects of the COVID pandemic (heavily impacting physical distribution as well as artist promotion) has been a consistent strain on music consumption, yet Letenje's 'Ablaze' represents the biggest sales week of any album in Izmedu this calendar year.

Ablaze's path to chart dominance reflects a continued trend that industry analysts have noted as streaming's continued dominance over contemporary music consumption in Izmedu. Historians and students of Izmeduan music history will be quick to note that the country has traditionally favored the album format, with the top 100 albums chart seeing a greater amount of sales and tracking compared to the singles counterpart. Of course, the surge of streaming and the COVID pandemic has led to streaming playing a greater role in determining chart success. Of the approximately 22,000 equivalent units that 'Ablaze' earned for the past week, about 14,000 of those units were gained through streaming, alongside 7,000 units through a mixture of direct digital downloads and individual song sales, and approximately 1,000 physical copies. (Fun fact: if streaming and digital downloads were to be excluded, 'Ablaze' would've failed to even crack the top 5!). The album has since been certified platinum and is expected to aid the flagging Izmeduan music industry in the quarter ahead.

Of course, Letenje's success in the albums chart dovetails with hotly tipped rumors about an Izmeduan return to the WorldVision Song Contest. Though the albums newswire can neither confirm nor deny the rumors, Letenje has been noted to be floating around multiple shortlists of possible contestants circulated on fan sites and leaks. Naturally, RTI has remained silent on the manner (having been tightlipped about participation since attempts at participating at the latest World Hit Festivals did not bear fruit, despite massive domestic support), but either way; Letenje's commercial success ensures that Izmeduan WV and WHF alumni are still on the sales map.
