This thread is designed to serve as a platform for discussion exclusive to the members
of the CONPAC alliance, the Covenent of Nations to the Progressive Action Congress.

It is not designed to serve as a platform for people to inquire about their membership vote status
or to petition members of CONPAC to approve their applications while they are applying to join.

If you have any comments, questions or concerns about CONPAC, its activities or its roleplays and
are not a member of the alliance, please direct your questions to our main thread, linked below.

Greetings and salutations, campers! Finally, after promising to get this little creation going for a hot minute, we finally have our official discussion thread up and running. While our main page will be reserved for applicants looking to join and the official voting, this area will become the nerve center of CONPAC business: discussing applicants, getting ideas together for our roleplays, using this as our OOC hub for roleplay planning where everyone in the group can participate equally. If we have anything going on in the CONPAC alliance, you'll hear about it here, so be sure to keep this thread in mind for future reference. Outside of potential telegrams, any business will be advertised heavily here so keep checking back here!

Point of Business: Upcoming Applicant Voting!
Probably the most important business to discuss first off is the upcoming changeover to voting on applicants who apply to join CONPAC. In the early stages, voting with only one or two members seemed to be more trouble than it was worth, and with the nature of CONPAC as a truly free platform for its members, there was very little concern about judging applicants based on anything other than their ideological design for their nation and their desire to participate with us. Having gotten a nice roster developing however, it's time for our membership to have the opportunity to have their say on who gets in. After our tenth member is approved, all future applicants will be voted on collectively in our main thread, so be ready for the changeover! Reminder: All member-states of CONPAC are obligated to take part in the voting process and cast a vote!

Point of Business: Our First Group Roleplay!
I am so very excited for this one: it's our first-ever group roleplay, the First Colloquium forum for CONPAC! The Colloquium is an open-forum for our member-states to discuss the political philosophies and structures of their countries, interact with other members and pursue diplomatic efforts with individual member-states, as well as voicing ideas about CONPAC itself - where the alliance has been, and where the alliance is going. No topic under this purview will be off the table: this is a free and open forum to discuss any concerns you may have with the group, or any ideas you have that you think might make CONPAC even more effective at serving as a representive for Progressive, Socialist and other Left-Leaning states in the international community! Since we are nearing our tenth roster member, it seems a perfect time to get our first group roleplay planning underway. This weekend, I hope to have some basic information on the IC-site of the forum, but please feel free to discuss any points of interest, ideas, or pose questions that you may have here while I get the location information packet written up. This roleplay is gonna be a gas!

Alla Ivanivna Zhuk enters with her delegation. This includes a trade representation, a military liaison unit, and an ideological system force- a group of political commissars sent to advance communism elsewhere. Lytrovia has sent them clear orders- give us an alliance, Foreign Affairs is going mad. Their mission will be to promote their ideology to everybody else.

OOC: Give us something to do while we wait. I don't know, trade alliance? New rules, maybe.

The idea of an inter-alliance trade pact is an interesting one. Did you have something specific in mind, because I think a lot of members could probably jive to that idea.

Although the Aedmeri government could budge on this topic, it should be noted that they're not entirely keen on fully opening the internal market up to free trade on a wide scale. The current strategy mostly includes an extensive political dossier of specific nations that it believes could be extremely important economic partners and countries from which they can obtain guarantees that economic exploitation is actively combatted (which is why the Aedmeri government rejects most free trade agreement requests at the Diplomatic Cooperation Initiative). It could be persuaded, given the nature of the CONPAC from the get-go, but they'd be extremely cautious moving forward on that topic.

I think something that is probably a good start is for all of us to open embassies with one another, assuming we have embassy programmes. It would solidify relations between us, ensure we have representatives at each others' nations and guarantee easier, more fluid in-character interaction. We could have a table in the OP of this thread to keep links to all of the embassy programmes of all the members to organise that initiative. Does that sound like a good idea to everyone?

Well, just so that I don't forget, I'll bulletpoint the two topics I'll be bringing up for the First Colloquium:

  • Some form of formal mechanism for trade, diplomacy and security within the alliance (think of something like a Chamber of Commerce Ministers, Chamber of Foreign Ministers and Chamber of Defense Ministers)
  • Sociocultural exchanges among member-states so as to promote leftist unity and peaceful coexistence (would be pretty cool for CONPAC HQ to hold a sociocultural-exchange festival)

Everyone is free to make suggestions and even changes regarding these topics and how these two could be implemented within CONPAC.

Alliance rules have changed since a lot since I joined NS back in 2009 as North African Empire usually you have to have certain requirements met, before being allowed to join a international alliance being a relative new nation and a alliance member is quiet rare. The Revolutionary People's State looks forward to working with all of you in the future as a member of the CONPAC, I will also voice my support for the Aedmeri Government's idea of opening embassies between member states of course according to if all states have an embassy program.

I quite like both ideas. For the second one, Lytrovia actually does an annual cultural fair in their capital in September, so something like that?

Yeah, basically an inter-sociocultural fair but mixed with world expo (except socialist-er) :lol2:

What I mentally-pictured is each member state having kinda like a pavilion for their country, not only dedicated to each nation's traditional culture but also modern popular culture as well as characteristic political nature of how they employ socialism in practice (socialism in each nation). That way, people can take a brief look of what it's like in each member-states while combatting any reactionary xenophobia through education.

I like both of these ideas; good for both cultural and political integration in the group as well as fomenting political cooperation. We can model it off if the EU's system (minus the neoliberalism plis).

"Socialism with [nation.name] characteristics" xdd
Just realised that, for the cultural fairs (even if we don't actively RP them ourselves), it would probably also be a good idea to link everyone's factbooks and such in the OP. We can link factbooks and any other important dispatches (I, for instance, also have a dispatch on the Aedmeri constitution, which wouldn't be a bad idea to link as well) so that everyone can read the important info on all the other nations.

Quick sidebar from the roleplay discussion, had a few notes that I wanted to pass along.

First, be sure to vote in our new poll located at the top of this thread. We'll occasionally run polls for some general ideas (mostly OOC-related) that float around from time to time. This one is about the possible use of Discord since many NS groups and regions use them.

Second, I'm working on a minor tchotchke for the group roleplay coming up at the end of the month, and to complete it I need a high quality link to your nation's flag. I know that some use their main flag on their account page and some don't, so if you can telegram me a decent quality image of your flag, it'd help me out a lot.

You may also want to bump the recruitment thread, before it gets lost in the piles of other threads.

As long as we are discussing things here in this thread, our alliance recruitment thread link remains at the top, so there will be a way for people to find it. If we don't have any more recruits by the time our group roleplay begins, I'll bump it - just don't like to bump threads if I don't have to, you know?

I tell you something we can also do - if people want to telegram or share links to their factbook(s) here, I can insert them into the OP of this thread so that everyone will have a direct resource to come back to without having to thread hunt. It is a good idea to have a source of information if we begin cooperative projects.

I must confess, the one I'm working on now is pretty much bare bones, but I swear I'm trying to get going on it! The bare bones is better than no bones I guess.

Sounds like a good idea! And yeah, for sure, even things that are in-progress are better than not looking at anything! If nothing else, it ensures that we can use the right demonyms :p

Here's my National Informational Codex (fancy factbook), the Simplified Codex (NS factbook), and a copy of the Popular Constitution (if anyone is interested in reading it xd). I'm updating the three of them quite often, but the Simplified Codex is probably the least out of date of the three. If you need overall information on the country, the NIC is the way to go; the only thing the simplified version has that the full does not is the culture section referring to the cities.

Idk why I but feel that CONPAC should get an anthem. Like, I'm cool with The Internationale being CONPAC's anthem (which would be fitting), but I'll write up a Zhouranese song dedicated to CONPAC and international leftist solidarity.

I finally created an anthem for CONPAC. Basically there's two version: The Original Zhouranese version and an English-sing-able version.

Also, if everyone's wondering what tune I used for the song, it's the Anthem of the Workers' Party of Korea. But ICly, the song was composed completely for CONPAC

Btw, here's an ICly explanation of the song, it's origins and the lyrics for both the Zhouranese version and the English-sing-able version.

The Proletarian Hymn of the Progressive Action Congress, also commonly referred to as the CONPAC Anthem, is the anthem of the Covenant of Nations of the Progressive Action Congress (CONPAC). Created in Zhouran on June 21, 2021 with lyrics written by Kangsi Nanrong (famous Zhouranese composer, lyricist, musical scholar and conductor of the Kuizhou-based Sukexi-Halun-Beisuna Symphony Orchestra) and music composed by Capt. Rongda Xilani (conductor of the Field Choir of the 217th Reserve Storm-Grenadier Division of the 21st Reserve Army, ZPA Ground Force), the CONPAC Anthem was composed in the style of Zhouranese patriotic music, specifically a particular type called Patriotic Parade music. Thus, in the style of Zhouranese patriotic music, the anthem is energetic and sonorous with a strong, majestic and upbeat melody, and optimistic, confident and hopeful lyrics. The first recording of the Zhouranese version was performed by the servicemen of the Field Choir of the 217th Reserve Storm-Grenadier Division of the 21st Reserve Army, ZPA Ground Force.

Proletarian Hymn of the Progressive Action Congress (Zhouranese ver.)

Putonghua lyrics:

Holy crap... I am seriously impressed! I love the idea of our own anthem, and yours is perfect. I think it gives us a certain creative flair that a lot of other alliances lack. At the end of the day, the goal is for people to have fun, share ideas and participate in group projects. If we can be one of the best multinational alliances out there, it's a huge bonus!

Sidebar, but I think one minor idea I may have for the Colloquium will be for the Novans to propose that CONPAC as an alliance sponsors the Ventana Pact, an anti-slaver treaty that basically serves as a mechanism to help impede the international slave trade as much as possible without physically nuking slave states from orbit. Since I know the person that created the Ventana Pact fairly well (myself), it's a guaranteed acceptance, though CONPAC sponsoring the Ventana Pact basically just means that our organization supports the goals of the Pact, not that CONPAC would actively be doing anything with the Pact. I didn't want to just openly say "Hey, CONPAC sponsors this" because I want it to be a group vote as far as sponsorship goes, but anyone in CONPAC that wishes to join the Pact is more than welcome to do so on an individual basis. You can take a look at it here.

Alright, here we are! Our first roleplay thread has been created; I'm still working on getting a few commits from some of our members, so here's how we'll handle the Colloquim to begin with: if you intend on participating, you can go ahead and make a post with the character(s) you intend on using in the roleplay being introduced in your own nations. After that, we'll wait a few days to see if we get any more commits before we actually start the thread proper, so use this time to brainstorm which characters you plan to use and/or create for the occasion. Once we have all the commits to the RP, the more formal, informative posts can begin!

Tomorrow, I will be posting some information about the location of the Colloquium, Castra Corinium and some of the events planned for the event during the roleplay to provide some background information that you can draw on in your posts. Until then, have a good evening everyone!

I went ahead and posted the thread I know it don't seem like much right now, but I may expand it a bit later before the others begin posting their responses. It has been a while since I last role-play on the NS forums it do believe the last one, was a war thread oh well I hope you guys enjoy the read feels kind of funny being back after all this time.

I'll try and get my post in the RP thread sometime tomorrow (hopefully). A mix of real life stuff and OP'ing a civil war thread for my puppet East Osovia (which is being redone, since the first attempt was destroying me, body and soul) has kept me from doing much else on NS of recent. Hopefully this will be a nice breath of fresh air compared to trying to herd cats in a war RP. Looking forward to it!

Renova wrote:I went ahead and posted the thread I know it don't seem like much right now, but I may expand it a bit later before the others begin posting their responses. It has been a while since I last role-play on the NS forums it do believe the last one, was a war thread oh well I hope you guys enjoy the read feels kind of funny being back after all this time.

Your post was awesome, Renova! You and Eothasia both far outdid what I got up in the OP, well done!

Catalunya and Navarra wrote:I'll try and get my post in the RP thread sometime tomorrow (hopefully).

No worries, take your time. I'd rather people write when they have time/feel like it than rush to do something; kind of like baking really, we're gold!

We have officially reached ten nations with the acceptance of the Republic of Deblar; that means from now on, new applications will have to be voted on by all the members of the group. If you plan on participating in the Colloquium thread, please let me know in the next few days so that those who are wanting to participate aren't held up waiting for those unable to attend.

Since the level of tension between the UDAF-CONPAC alliance and Laka is relatively high we would like to send an “representative” to your alliance, to present and explain our position. Of course we will not apply for an observer because we are a literal colonial state. I mean, this can create some very interesting RP situations
