… "I've faced worse." he replied. "You needn't have intervened; I know a few people in the War Department and Department of State. But thank you in any case. To who do I owe the pleasure?"
Stefan bobbed his head and bowed slightly, while MacDuff glared at the retreating customs-officers.

“My name is Ceil Phantomhive, Earl of Phantomhive and the chairman of the Pacific-Oriental Steam Navigation Company, and henceforth, the owner of the ship”. His personal butler came up to him.

“Young master, these gentlemen are from the Royal Navy. You have the privilege of speaking with Colour sergeant Alexander Sharpe Macduff, a Non-commissioned officer of the Royal Marines. the man that was being harassed by the officers is Stefan Rota, a naval architect and engineer. They both are joining Rear Admiral Edwyn Alexander Byrnes, Viscount of Valentia, Baronet of Colchester-by-Sea and Thane of Fife”.

“Ah yes. Thank you, Sebastian”. Ciel turns his attention to Rear Admiral Byrnes. “Rear Admiral, your reputation precedes you. I am most impressed with your exploits during the war”.

So with that, I found my way up onto the deck. The sunshine beaming down, the salty sea air spraying my face. A smile did creep along my face, I started to calm down and feel better as I leaned across the railing to watch the sea. With luck, I might just make it.

The deck at the bow of the ship was certainly not as busy as the stern, though it still had a good crowd. In fact, not only were there stairs leading from the cargo hold to the bow deck, but there was another set of stairs leading down to the Third Class lounge area. For a poor stowaway, it was perfect to blend in. Not one piece of suspicion from anyone that she is a stowaway. That also means that strangers would friendly and say hello. It would come to pass when two girls, a light blond and a reddish brunette, walked onto the deck from the lounge.

“I told you Mikko! The dining hall is back near the stern”.

“Not my fault this ship is huge Aki. I’m more used to ferries on the Mississippi, and even back in Finland, I sailed on smaller steamships”.

“Sure, of course” she replies sarcastically. “Come on, the dining hall should be this way”. They both continue to walk, but they were distracted by the scenery of the port that they paid no attention to the ground, and suddenly Mikko tripped on the stowaway’s foot.

“Mikko! Are you alright!?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry Aki”. Her attention was at the young girl whose foot she tripped. “Hello. Sorry for tripping over your foot”.

... As he did he pulled a pipe from his breast pockets and packed it with tobacco.

Though the American alcohol industry was withering from the federal prohibition laws, one industrialist from the Cartune Isles was making headlines of becoming the richest beer baron in the world. William Hertz Duff, the owner of the Duff Brewery Limited located in Springfield of the Simpsonia Province of said isles. Since the Cartune Isles were not subjected to prohibition, his company has seen exponential growth at the start of the twenties. He sold his drinks to international markets and illegal bootleggers. He made deals with the mafia and bribed officials to look the other way. As dirty as his hands got in these dealings, his hard work shown. He was now a rich billionaire going around the world promoting his company’s beverages.

He enters the smoking lounge, with a box of Cuban cigars he got from his vacation in Cuba. Wanting to talk to people and share his cigars, he spots a man about to smoke a tobacco pipe. He walks up to the man.

“Excuse me sir. I hope you don’t mind me sitting here”.

… Edoard took a deep breath and sighed. In a series of automatic motions, he procured a cigar from his pocket, lit it, and took a long draw. At least this was a pleasure cruise, not something like one of those awful British submersible ships he had heard far too many horror stories about. So long as there were no complications, Edoard was sure he could balance out an incompetent crew.

But now he could enjoy the luxuries of a journey he was assumed to have paid for. Not only that, but there was almost certainly a couple of moronic fat-cats and aristocrats who would buy his worthless junk for a small fortune! Pleasure and riches? How could Leontiy say no to that?

“Excellent” Naofumi responds to Edoard. “We won’t be leaving for another thirty minutes or so. As I said I will give the orders to move out. Oh, and do be prepared later. We will be having lifeboat drills once we get underway”.

A steward was there to greet this man. The third class gangplank was located at the stern, but the stern’s cabins was for single women and families only, so he would have to be taken to the bow where men’s cabins were.

“Welcome aboard sir. Please, allow me to take you to the men’s cabin area of the ship, where you will be staying of course”.

... Why do they fixate on the war this much? I mean, most of them didn’t even saw the frontlines, didn’t felt the wheeze of a bullet streaming past your head, never saw their comrades fall, and yet still they have the audacity to put their hatred on me as if I’m not just a pilot but Hindenburg or Ludendorff... Truly these Americans are such a magnificently different people from us...

“Pfft. Blah blah blah goes Jerry with a Kraut name. Tell that to your Kaiser. Oh wait! He has been deposed after we whooped him for those U-Boat attacks on our merchant ships! Now get movin”. The customs officer laughed. The ships’ officers and the crew were much better in terms of politeness. As he makes his way up to the first-class entrance. He is greeted by the Chief Steward.

“Good morning sir” Kyoya says. “Welcome aboard the SS Fascination. Please allow our stewards to take you and your luggage to your staterooms immediately”.

... The two quiet down until they met this Kyoya Ootori, “Hello? We’re, uh, looking for the chief steward? We’re the new guys.”

… They were of rather medium nobility, but were wealthy enough to comfortably travel America and board first class cruises like Cristofero is doing right now.[box]

“Well you are looking at him” he replies to the two. “Chief Steward Kyoya Ootori. I assume you are the new stewards. Welcome to the crew. Who may I be addressing you both as?”

“Jerries, Krauts, Austrians, they are all the damn same”. He inspected the papers and luggage, and the others patted him down like the others. He then showed him to the ship’s officer, who showed him up the gangplank and to Chief Steward Kyoya Ootori.

“Good morning sir. Welcome aboard the SS Fascination, the pride of the Pacific-Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Please allow my staff to take you and your luggage to your cabin”.

[box]... Lia walked to the customs officials and patiently waited for her turn to present her documents and second-class ticket.

The customs officer looked at her documents and others patted her down for anything illegal. The customs officer looked at her, and began to chuckle at first, then laugh out loud.

“Such a weird and funny face for a young missy like yourself. It’s all too funny”. He lets her go to officers letting people on board to second class. Not as grand as first-class, but it wasn’t as simple as third class. It was the last glimpse of Victorian and Edwardian design which was being phased out for art deco modern.

“Hello ma’am, welcome aboard,” said a kind steward. “Please allow me to show you to your cabin”.

“Oh, very well. I’ll have the purser take some cash out”. Officer Simpson finishes his negotiations with the mafia boss. The barrels of liquor have been secured and are now ready to load onto the ships supply hold. Officer Simpson gives the okay to load the cargo on to the ship’s hold. He noticed some movement on the cargo platform that was about to be picked up by a crane, but decided to ignore it. It was just probably the strong winds. His attention was at the first officer.

“Officer Lindgrin!” he shouts to get her attention. Both salute each other. “I assume that the captain has sent you to check on the cargo. Is everything in order?”

Simpson got her attention and she went over to him and saluted. "Officer Simpson. Yes he did. Things are looking orderly and okay." Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention but she didn't see the young Katase girl slip aboard into the hold. "These are some nice looking automobiles I must say." It was one of the things that really hit her the most when she came to America from her island, that so many people had these mechanical wonders. She kind of dreamed of owning one herself, it just seemed like a lot of fun to have one and drive one around. "I'll send some sailors to make sure our cargo is secure, I'd hate for all the boxes to fly around if we hit rough seas. Anyway, I'd say things are in order, wouldn't you also agree, Simpson?" She again looked over the manifest to double and triple check. "Yes, things are all in order here."

“I will be showing her highness and her handmaiden to their state room. Please take charge of looking at first-class boarding passes”.

“Of course sir”. Officer Fernandes shows them up the gangway and into the grand foyer, and once they are in the ship, stewards and stewardesses grab their extra luggage and walked down the hall to their stateroom. A spacious stateroom too, with its own living room with a dining table, its own separate bathroom, which was advertised for all first and second class, and a balcony deck, open outdoor space for one to look out into the ocean.

SS Fascination.
Princess Aurelia bint-Tarek.

From the Grand Foyer the very polite and professional man took us (and extra lugguage) into a hallway up to our stateroom. Being aboard a cruise ship was nothing new, I had been on cruisers, too (RKN Susa, a few years ago, when she had been launched and named, I got not only to do the deed, but also to tour her), but this one felt a bit special.
The crew was good, the work climate was good - not every ship could boast that.
Once in our stateroom, I realized how large it was. I admit, that I am used to luxury, even when underway, but this was, again, special. Living room with dining table, seperate bathroom, bedroom, balcony... there were Kyrenaian cruise liners, which didn't offer such luxury to anyone but the best-paying customers.
"Thank you, so far, there are none.", I said and bowed my head lightly in gratitude. "If some come up, I will seek you out, officer...?"
Meanwhile, Fara went at work checking if everything was present and accounted for.

At very least some of the Americans had the decency to treat him with respect indiscriminate of his nationality…
-Here you go, chief servant!- Manfred headed over his luggage, hoping that nothing bad will happen to it,- he had already changed a multitude of briefcases because of vandalism by hotel or train staff, and in order to help prevent this he gave the steward a tip of 20 bucks- not too much yet not too few, not to offend him and than headed for the promenade,- he wanted to have a last overview of the city just before the ship departs.

“No sir, please have a seat” he said gesturing over before transitioning to a handshake. “François Dubon.” He says as french-ly as possible, his handshake was firm and powerful, it was not the Amerique custom, but he was smart enough not to assume.

“I do hope the Cartune Isles are friendly, I must say I've rarely been so far from home. I wonce took a trip back to the old country, but it never felt as unusual as this ship does... So Mr. Duff, what’s your business? I was once a financier.”

Chief Engineer Edoard de La Puy
Engineering Department, S.S. Fascination

"Copy. Lifeboat drills," Edoard repeated. He took another puff of his cigar as he reclined in his chair. 30 minutes of leisure before the Fascination weighed from Long Beach, and Edoard was going to ensure he used all of it. Striding to his quarters, he gave his men one final message before he took his break.

"Knock on my door only if the ship is going to be in danger. Ça va?" the Chief Engineer grumbled. In response he was greeted by a flurry of silent nodding.

Confident that his men understood, he retired temporarily to his room until the ship was ready to depart.

Leontiy Bogdanov
S.S. Fascination, Long Beach, California

"Of course, lead the way" Leontiy replied, following the steward across the ship. Along the way he discreetly eyed up the other passengers, on the lookout for anyone who might be easy to trick as well as...appreciating the beauty of some of the female passengers. However, the number of men wearing some form of military regalia unnerved Leontiy. There was a chance they could pick apart his lies just by experience alone. Not only that, but he knew people of military backgrounds liked to swap stories with one another. Or, at least, the ones he knew once did.

Eventually, Leontiy was brought to the men's cabin. The area was simple, bland, and somewhat depressing, but Leontiy had survived worse. Besides, he wasn't here to experience a lavish lifestyle, he was here to obtain it.

“Forgive our manners sir, I’m Vic, this fella over here’s my cousin Max.” He tried his best to put at least a “proper” or less urban-esque accent. No matter how far from New York he was, New York was never far.

Max nodded and smiled at the chief “Bongiorno” he said gruffly.

“Don’t mind him none, he’s a bit...dumb. Y’know, he’s an immigrant and all that.”

Two Stooges and the Count

They followed the Kyoya to help with passengers’ luggage. Without showing it, Max’s mind was wide-eyed. His heart nearly stopped. He was here. Colonel d’Umbra. It was unlikely he’d recognize Max, but he tried to obscure his face with the brim of his cap as best he could, assisting in carrying d’Umbra’s luggage to his room.

Grazie mille. Eh...tank you very much.”

“Hey you’re Italian?” Vic smiled, proceeding to go to d’Umbra’s room.

Si ma no, Bellaluce. Lux Pulchrae in English.”

“Oh no shit-er no kidding? I’m Lux Pulchran too. Eh... como se dice? Io sono Luciano.

“Ohh. Coincidence. Now I know who to go to for help.” d’Umbra and Vic laughed. “E queste? This one?”

Before Vic could answer much to Max’s relief, they had reached the room. “Well, here you are. Benevenuto and all that. I think we have to get back to the chief, lotta passengers.” Vic bowed his head, Mad followed suit.

Before Max able to fully follow his cousin, he felt a tight grip on his wrist. “I know you.

Max looked in terror and he ripped his hand away from d’Umbra. The two heading back to Chief Kyoya.

Cartoonia wrote:Kyoya told them where the dining room was, and after that was given a nice tip. “You are quite welcome. Before you go, I must tell you all that we will be having lifeboat drills as soon as we are out at sea”. They then left to the dining saloon where first-class passengers have begun to have breakfast, and the ship’s small orchestra has begun playing a different tune, another rag by Scott Joplin, “Elite Syncopations”.

They sat down at a table, just as everyone else had. Gone were the days of large heavy breakfasts of the Edwardian era, the new standard was small light breakfasts which included the newly invented breakfast cereals (like John Harvey Kellogg’s toasted corn flakes). One of the waiter greeted them.

“Good morning ladies. I’ll be your waiter this morning. Have you all decided what you would like for breakfast. Any coffee, tea, juice to start?”

The Duvet Family

Prior to sitting, Beatrice affirmed "Of course, we'll be ready and there when the drills are to begin. Thank you again." Now seated in the dining hall listening to the merry tunes of the musicians chiming away and considering what they'd like for breakfast. Their waiter did come to take their orders and Beatrice ordered for everyone, "Good morning. Some milk tea for the two young Misses here. I'd like some black coffee if you'd please. And we'd like a plate of some blueberry muffins if you can."

Historie also made a small request "Oh and you could you please give me a lemon slice on the side with my tea, thank you so very much."

"Yes, thank you, very much." Victorique responded.

"Young Misses I'm very pleased with how your manners are. Especially you, Victorique, I know traveling this long has been quite tiresome but it seems your spirits are lifting now."

The young girls unfolded their napkins and set them in their laps.

"Thank you, Miss Beatrice. I'm sorry for getting crying earlier."

Beatrice gave a sweet chuckle "It has been a long trip, but a little more. I know how much you are missing your father and I know he's missing you. Soon enough we'll be in Cartune and soon you'll be with him to your heart's content."

"And papa will be glad to know your time as our au pair is paying off." Histoire confirmed "He was nervous about us taking this trip with just you but he's gonna be so happy knowing how well things have been going."

"Well do remember you are putting in as much work as I am by taking my lessons to heart."

"I hope papa has had a nicer trip so far than we have." Victorique ran her finger along the fine cloth of the table.

"Ah nothing phases, papa. I'm sure he finds high seas more exciting than a plate of glass."

"Well a seasoned sea captain such as your father does know how to get the most of his voyages. That said, Young Misses, I'm sure he'll be glad to tell you plenty of stories when we arrive."

The Barnes Family

They were lead along the many narrow halls and passages of this ship, overall it was a nice ship even for steerage. Sharing a cabin, she had half-forgotten but it was okay, she only hoped they wouldn't make a fuss over being a colored woman with a white child. "Oh yes, thank you for the reminder." That just made young Cordelia tighten the grip on her mother's dress a little more. The little one was shy and seemingly as innocent as can be but like her mother she was aware of how things were. "And we shall make sure we are ready for the drills."

"Lifeboats?" Cordelia questioned

"Yes, my dear, all ships have them you know, even the ones we sailed upon to get to here. Just not every ship is as mindful about having drills as this one seems to be, but that is a good thing that they will have one. Can you believe it? Even in the calm conditions we were blessed with nobody bothered to have them on our ships. Then again, when I was growing up, that was still such a new concept. I'm sorry, here I am talking your ear off, I know you must have much to do. So you have my thank you for showing us to our cabin. We'll be ready for our drill when time comes. I'm sorry I cannot pay much but please take this." It was one dollar all she could offer up. With that she opened up the cabin door to enter, wondering if the other family would be there or if they'd be at breakfast. Well they'd surely meet them sooner or later for now the two would stow their bags and maybe grab a small serving of something to get through the morning before their boat drills would come.

There I was, lost in my world, in my own thoughts, still just kind of taking everything in when I felt a sort of bump on my foot, it didn't hurt but I heard the sounds of thudding and crying out as someone fell to the ground. Oh, dear, I'm trying NOT to draw attention to myself. "No!" I apologized with a bow, "I'm so sorry! I must have had my feet out a little to far." I think, I feel like I was leaning over the rail a little more than I probably should. But I guess when we're in port, what does it matter if I lean in a little far. Plus I'm coming down from my rush of creeping aboard this ship.

"I'm sorry, I really am!" I profusely apologized, I did mean it of course, last thing I want is anyone to trip over my stupid feet, my tattered laced up heel boots that have carried me this far but of course I am also worried about getting caught. I mean at least if they catch me while underway they can't send me back, right? Or would they just throw me off the side like the rat I am? I swallowed, this was no time to think of that, I gotta hide my guilty face. "uuuh!" I played innocent "I am sorry. It's just, this is my first time on a ship ya know!" Well it wasn't, I took a ship to get to America from Katase, but they didn't know that! "I guess I'm just excited about being on a big boat deck and seeing the ocean beneath me. I must have been leaning too much and I clearly got in your way. So again I apologize" I think they were buying it, well I hoped. I bowed again to show my sincere apology.

Meanwhile, Fara went at work checking if everything was present and accounted for.

“Second Officer Jellal Fernandes, at your service,” he says proudly. “I shall return to my regular duties. Before I go, I’m sure the captain would like to invite you to dine with him later tonight at the captain’s table. I’ll inform the captain of your invitation”. He then leaves the cabin.

... I must have been leaning too much and I clearly got in your way. So again I apologize" I think they were buying it, well I hoped. I bowed again to show my sincere apology.

It seemed that these two didn’t suspect a thing. It wasn’t that they paid attention to anything, they just don’t care.

“Hey! No worries. It happens to the best of us. Might as well introduce ourselves. I’m Mikko, and she’s Aki”.

“Nice to meet you”.

“Say, I know we just met, but we were heading back down to the dining room. We were about to eat breakfast. Would you like to join us?”

... So Mr. Duff, what’s your business? I was once a financier.”

“François Dubon. A pleasure to meet you. I don’t think I have given my name, but yes. I am William Hertz Duff”. He shakes his hand, with a firm grip just like his. He sits down taking out one of his Cuban cigars, cutting a bit at the top, lighting a match and puffs away.

“That all sound interesting. As for me, I am in the business of alcohol. The Duff Brewery. Not that I live on the mainland of America, just the colony of the Cartune Isles. Since the local Cartune government overridden the band on alcohol, my buisness has been booming, being the soul manufacturer of beer on the isles.

Meanwhile, the musicians finished playing up the ragtime music. The dining room was now filling up with more guests, and some would want to expect some more… shall we say… classier music.

“Wow. The saloon is really starting to fill up, isn’t it Nishizumi-dono” the Cellist asks the bandleader.

“I think so too Yukari” Miho replies, “I think some of the passengers would want to listen to a different style of music now won’t they?”

“I mean, ragtimes not that boring is it?” asked the second violinist.

“It isn’t Saori, but it is nice to have a change once in a while”. She flips through the songbook, and found a good, nice piece to perform.

“Alright everyone, Wedding Dance”. And so now that band performs The Wedding Dance Waltz

“Oh, not a problem ma’am. You know, this ship has more lifeboats which could carry more passengers mind you, than what regulations had it at. The ship’s owner certainly did not want anything like what happened in 1912. Many souls lost in a tragic sinking in the Atlantic. Not enough lifeboats on a large ship like that”. When he was done speaking, the mother was bringing out a dollar, but he politely declined.

“Oh. There is no need to pay me ma’am. We are just trying to please everybody. It’s our job that everyone is satisfied with everything. If you have any more questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to find a nearby steward”. The steward leaves and the two of them entered the room, and in there was the aforementioned family the steward was talking about. It was a mother and her two boys. The mother was a young woman with chest-length chestnut-brown hair that was tied into a low side ponytail on the right side and green eyes, wearing a lavender dress. The two boys were blondes, one shorter, but older, than the other with gloden eyes, being all excited on the top bunk of their bed. The mother, being the kind person she is, she greets their new mates.

“Ah, hello. It’s nice to meet you. My name is Trisha Elric, these two are my boys. Edward and Alphonse”. The two boys waved hello.

… Confident that his men understood, he retired temporarily to his room until the ship was ready to depart.

… Besides, he wasn't here to experience a lavish lifestyle, he was here to obtain it.

The men, the little crew that is required to operate the oil powered boilers understood and went back to their stations. In all honesty, these men hated the way this chief engineer treated them. This man, shouting at them, wanting every last minute detail perfect, they believed was too excessive. But they suppose that it was okay for now. It was much easier than coal operated ships. They didn’t need to stoke coal, just check on the oil pipes.

The steward reached the cabin and opened the door.

“I’m sure you are aware” he starts, “you will be sharing the cabin with two other men. And as a reminder, there will be a lifeboat drill once we get underway. One more thing, breakfast is being served in the dining hall. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask”.

... She again looked over the manifest to double and triple check. "Yes, things are all in order here."

“Ah yes. These autos are more elaborate than what Ford has been conjuring up. Though I suppose if you want a cheaper automobile, I guess simplicity and mass production gets it done. Not up to Mr. Phantomhive’s tastes anyway”. With everything in order, sailors began loading everything into the cargo hold, it was now 11:30, another thirty minutes until departure.

“Ah, yes. Good. Find some sailors to secure the cargo. I’ll tell the captain that everything is in order then. While I do that, Go to the purser and tell him to grab $200, and see that man at the edge of the dock…… give him the $200”.

... he wanted to have a last overview of the city just before the ship departs.

Who else comes out onto the promenade deck than Ms. Beatrice Boopford herself. She walks up to the man looking over the city.

“Ah, Long Beach. Such a beautiful city isn’t it. Our company performed at the Byde-A-Wyle Theatre. It was a wonderful time. Oh pardon me. My name is Beatrice Boopford, actress of the stage. Buy you can call me Betty Boop. Every does”.

... “Don’t mind him none, he’s a bit...dumb. Y’know, he’s an immigrant and all that.”

… Before Max able to fully follow his cousin, he felt a tight grip on his wrist. “I know you.”

Max looked in terror and he ripped his hand away from d’Umbra. The two heading back to Chief Kyoya.

Vic. Max. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I expect you to carry our guest’s luggage. And speaking of which”. This was when the count entered the ship. “Please see to it that this man and his luggage are taken to his cabin. Don’t forget to tell him that the dining saloon is opened for breakfast, and we will be having lifeboat drills once we get underway”. And they did so and returned to Kyoya after that.

“Good lads. I think you know what to do now. You will be taking care of our passenger’s needs everyday, and we will be providing $10 + tips per month and give you room and board, down in third class. You must be working for the full day and be there for our guests”. Kyoya turned from his calm serious mood, to a more serious tone.

“Now make no mistake. If there are any complaints from our guests, I will see to it that you both are fired and transferred over to the boiler rooms. I’ll have you arrested if I hear word that you have been engaging in criminal activites. And beleive me, I have my eyes on every steward and stewardess on this ship. Understand?”.

... The younger people these days, she thought.

“The captain is busy with his duties up on the bridge” the steward said. “Is there a problem ma’am?”

"Aye, sir" She gave a salute went along to do her thing. First to find the purser as he asked of her "CO Simpson said take 200 and hand it to the man on the edge of the dock. Meanwhile, I'm gonna grab some men and head down below to secure up the cargo. Can't be too careful now." Next on her mission grab some of the sailors and some heavy duty rope. She'd been enough ships in her life to know rough seas and lose cargo make a real mess if not careful. Also it was always a good time to hunt for possible stowaways, though she missed the girl who slipped behind her this time. "Believe me, picking up a million little coffee beans was no fun task" She recounted an experience of hers to some of the sailors with her "So then on, I learned, make sure everything's good and secure." she looked at her pocket watch, still good on time to get some work done.

"No, for the most part, it's fine. I'm just... feeling a bit... insulted by the customs people when they checked my ticket."

Would the steward understand? Lia was not sure. She was well-aware that she looked out of place in second-class, even if she was wearing the best dress in her possession.

She also felt left out.

"It's not urgent," she continued. "Is there something wrong with me? I'm used to exacting comments being a tailor for much of my life, but this is something else."

The Duvet Family

"Thank you, good sir." The ladies continued speaking waiting on their morning tea and coffee and muffins and enjoying the general ambiance of the first class dining with the band really playing.

"Oh Wedding Dance." Among her various skills, Histoire was also trained in classical piano, so she recognized the tune given it was one she herself had played at some point.

"It almost makes me feel like dancing!" Victorique said with a merry voice, clearly her spirits feeling up now they were aboard and ready to have their breakfast.

That gave Histoire another good idea, should they hit stormy conditions she could also dance with Victorique to keep her occupied. "Wedding Dance is a great dance tune. Maybe when I have my debut, I'll get to have this played."

Debut in this case was being a debutante, a tradition among nobility and aristocrats of Abetton, even in some working classes could have their own scaled down versions, either way it was usually a great way for young ladies to meet potential suitors.

"You can certainly make your opinion well known, Young Miss, after all your special day should have your input."

The Barnes Family

"Ahh ahh" She nodded, "I remember reading all about the sinking of the Great Titanic, truly heartbreaking. Thank you again sir." She was thankful for his help and also a bit surprised but okay with the fact he was okay not accepting tips. It seemed to be expected from first class but I guess when you're rich, you gotta show it more so whatever, it was fine.

Inside they met up with another woman along with her two sons, Edward and Alphonse. "Trisha" She said with a bright smile "What a pleasure. I'm Sara, and this is my daughter, Cordelia. Cordelia, dear, don't be shy now, say hello."

Cordelia had hid her eyes a bit behind her mother

"Hehe such a silly young girl she is." She patted her daughter's head ruffling her bonnet and Cordelia did let out a meek "Hello."

Cordelia looked about the cabin, taking in the surroundings "Mama." She quietly said

"Yes, my dear?"

"No lantern?" She asked rather confused

"No sweet, I imagine this ship is fully electrical. Miss Trisha, The ship we came to America on actually was all coal based but no electricity for those of us in steerage. How glad I was for fair seas our whole trip. Also so thankful we have a small cabin to share with just you and your boys. Oh forgive my forwardness, I may call you Trisha? Or would you rather be Madam, Missus Elrich?" She chuckled "You are welcome to call me Sara if you wish."

Port of Long Beach, California

Grigorios exited the cab to get a closer look at the vessel in the fresh air. The size and façade made him stand there with a gaze of admiration, ignorant of the driver coming up to his side with his luggage. It was a vessel worthy of being called home for seven days of his return trip to his mother country. Though, the Cartune Isles would prove just as interesting, with memories of pictures and stories of the place reminding him of the times of staying in Vadimalasca with his family. He wondered if he should stay there for several more days.

His driver now appeared at his side, throwing him off his apparent trance. After paying the tip, he neared the customs officer to present his papers.

"Good morning, sir. I hope your eyes are not too tired from looking at too many papers," he chuckled with his clear accent.

Vic and Max
“Heh...yeah sir understood” Vic answered nervously. “At least if we’re fired we’ll still have a job in the boiler.” He joked and smiled. Dismissing themselves they politely excused themselves “We’ll uh, go and help out around the ship. Sir.”

What an ass!” Max frustratingly said “How long we gonna be here?

“Don’t worry. I don’t know how long but we a place to eat and sleep for a while.”

While kissing rich ass? I’d rather be on a ship back home.” Max’s thoughts were soon hit by hard memories as he remembered d’Umbra had been on board, shaking these thoughts away.

“So I guess we just stand with our thumbs in our asses until we get called out or something.”

D’Umbra
He had watched as his former subordinate walked away. Sitting on his bed, he palmed his face with his hands and sighed deeply. “I came here for a nice drink, and some tourism. Not to be reminded of this.” He said to himself. He had taken his jacket off, finding it awfully warm. It was as good a time as any to go eat. The hall was open and others like him were around, sadly he wouldn’t have much to say , that they could understand at least.

Reaching the dining hall, he found a nice quiet seat, and although he didn’t mind music playing, he was personally more of a silence-loving person. He got ahold of a nearby steward, asking for breakfast. “What do you ‘av for the morning meal?”

“Ah, good day to you, miss! Ich bin Baron Manfred Von Kaltenbrunnergentsshfelde, pleased to meet you, miss! Ah, look at these planes… I think that they are truly beautiful!”
Manfred was not exactly who’d you call popular with women. As well as most Strolis, he was extremely romantic and at both time extremely prudish in these matters, which lead to him still being single at his years, and, to add, up, virgin. One of the main reason for this was that he never even had the time to pursue true love… Because of this, he didn’t really knew what he should talk about with a lady, mainly because during the past years the only place where he’d seen a women was when he was visiting his fallen comrades in the hospital, or while he was lying there himself for two years…

The two girls whom I had my bump in with, introduced themselves, Mikiko and Aki, wow! Names like those found in Katase, I didn't know if they were from there originally or not, I mean quite a few places in the world had similar cultures and languages as Katase, some near identical even, strange but hey, that's just the world for you. Well anyway, they invited me to breakfast, my inclination was to decline, I was supposed to be keeping a low profile, and I still needed to find a place to sleep, somewhere that wasn't the cargo hold would be ideal but as I was ready to open my mouth to say no, my stomach did the talking, growling loudly. It had been a long while since I had anything to eat, since well last night where I was fed a small meal. The girls for certain heard that, I could see the looks they were giving me like This poor girl is starving! "Well now that you mention it, I am hungry. Uuh well I'm in third class, so if that is where you're heading, I'd be willing to go."

... "Well now that you mention it, I am hungry. Uuh well I'm in third class, so if that is where you're heading, I'd be willing to go."

“It’s the only class occupying this deck, so it’s only natural. Glad you can join us”. The three of them begin to walk back inside through third class cabins to get to the dining hall. A little conversation would be appreciated.

“So, are you here with your folks? Or are you travelling alone?” asked Mikko, “Me and Aki are with another friend of ours, though she is not joining us for breakfast yet”.

“We were supposed to have another friend with us” Aki added, “We actually had the same cabin if you could believe it, but she wasn’t able to come. She had another thing she had to take care of before she could leave”.

... So Mr. Duff, traveling alone?"

“Me? Why yes. I was visiting a few old friends from my college days, the California University of Pennsylvania class of 1917 we were called. We had a little reunion in Havana. A lovely place this time of year. Even got myself some of these Cuban cigars. Uh… Would you care to have one?”.

... "You can certainly make your opinion well known, Young Miss, after all your special day should have your input."

… She chuckled "You are welcome to call me Sara if you wish."

The waiter comes back as the ship continues to become more lively. He brought along the muffins and the coffee pot and teapot for the three. He poured out the black coffee into the cup for the au pair, and for the young ladies, he a well poured the milk tea into the cups, and gave a slice of lemon as per one of the young ladies’ request. He also brought along a bowl of complimentary white sugar cubes.

“Here you are. Please do enjoy”. The waiter leaves to serve other guests. And another family enters the dining hall. A blonde haired English man with green eyes enters with his two children. Both also blonde. The man’s name is Arthur Kirkland, a prosperous cotton mill owner and his two boys were Alfred and Matthew.

“Wow, there’s a lot of people papa”.

“There is isn’t there my boy. I’m sure we could still find a seat here”.

“Trisha is alright. It certainly nice to meet you Sara. And it’s nice to meet your lovely daughter too”. She waves hello to Cordelia. “I’m sure my boys will get along with her just fine” The boys nodded in agreement. “You know, most ships these days have electricity for all its passengers. Though, third class has to heat up over a coal stove, though I don’t think we will be using it that much on this voyage”. She looks over at the coal stove in the corner.

“Anyway, I’m also glad we are sharing this cabin. Heaven knows it was getting a bit lonely with just my boys and I traveling”.

... "So then on, I learned, make sure everything's good and secure." she looked at her pocket watch, still good on time to get some work done.

“Oh, for the special cargo. Certainly”. The purser brings out the cash safe, turned the crank for the combinations, and grabbed two hundred dollars out of it. “Here you go officer” he states. Once the money was handed, she goes to find two sailors, one a spanish man with brown stylized hair, and the other a Scottish man with brown hair and blue eyes. Being handed the heavy duty rope, she tells her experience on another liner.

“Och. That soonds absolutely tedious. Wouldn't ye say sae Esteban?”
(“Oh. That sounds absolutely tedious. Wouldn’t you say so Estaban?”)

“Si, sounds totally… what you English types say… crazy”.

“Ah coudnae gree wi' ye mair. 'n' dinna fash yirsel boaby. We wull hae th' cargo a' secured in th' haud, as secure as th' pacific is wide”.
(“I couldn't agree with you more. And don't worry officer. We will have the cargo all secured in the hold, as secure as the Pacific is wide”.)

As the sailors were tying up the cargo, the mafia man beside the dock was waiting for his payment, looking at his watch waiting for his payment.

... Because of this, he didn’t really knew what he should talk about with a lady, mainly because during the past years the only place where he’d seen a women was when he was visiting his fallen comrades in the hospital, or while he was lying there himself for two years…

“Baron Manfred Von Kalten… Brunner… Gentssh… fedle” Betty repeats, though trying to pronounce it properly. “A baron? Really? You must be very respected where you come from. A wealthy family probably. I bet it is absolutely charming. And you speak a foreign language! That is ever so romantic. Ya know, I lived on the Cartune Isles for most of my life, and I never have seen anyone as unique as you!” She too then looked over the skies, the new airplanes from the local air base flying by.

“These planes. Sure they look fine in the skies, but nothing will ever replace the glamour of sea travel. Can you imagine passenger planes, traversing continents. I heard they have this crazy idea of a non stop flight from New York to Paris. I don’t think it’ll happen, and if it did, they can’t compete with these fine ocean going vessels. Oh, there I go again, talking willy nilly. I often do that alot, I like to socailize with folks”.

... Reaching the dining hall, he found a nice quiet seat, and although he didn’t mind music playing, he was personally more of a silence-loving person. He got ahold of a nearby steward, asking for breakfast. “What do you ‘av for the morning meal?”

“Good morning sir” The steward says grabbing a menu for the man to see. “Today, we are serving some normal breakfast options. We have a traditional English Breakfast, with eggs, bacon, backed beans, toast, and blood pudding. Or would you like some oatmeal instead. We also have some American options. American Pancakes, Pastries including these new fangled donuts, and corn flakes, these new breakfast cereals?”.

... "Is there something wrong with me? I'm used to exacting comments being a tailor for much of my life, but this is something else."

The steward smiled. “Oh no, there is nothing wrong. You look wonderful ma’am. As for the customs officers. It’s out of the ships, and company’s control. I’ve heard we have been looking to depart from Victoria Harbour in Canada. Though, I’m not sure if they still plan to. If you want ma’am, I can send a complaint to the company’s chairman”.

... "Good morning, sir. I hope your eyes are not too tired from looking at too many papers," he chuckled with his clear accent.

Seeing how this was another white man with no signs of Germanic nor Austrain roots, he had absolutely no problem with him. After inspecting him for anything illegal, he was able to go and be greeted by an officer, who let him through first class.

“Good morning sir, welcome aboard the SS Fascination. Max, Vic. Please show this man to his cabin if you will, and please take his luggage with him”.

“My name is Ceil Phantomhive, Earl of Phantomhive and the chairman of the Pacific-Oriental Steam Navigation Company, and henceforth, the owner of the ship”. His personal butler came up to him.

"Just sent a few Germans to the bottom of the sea...That said, I suppose I must thank you again, both for your timely intervention and for this fine transport..." He paused, as if wondering if he should let him know, before deciding there was no harm in doing so. "I'm headed for Singapore and then Qingdao, same with my two companions. T'is a quiet place; only the Japanese are of any worry, and if they try a thing I'll sort 'em out quick."

The Duvet Family - First Class Dining

"Thank you kindly, Sir." they all thanked the waiter for bringing their morning breakfast out. "Miss Beatrice, isn't coffee really bitter without any cream, sugar or milk?" Victorique asked mixing together a little lump of sugar for her tea, while Histoire was happy with the tea just the way it is.

"It is, but not to worry my dear, I rather like bitter coffee. The strong kick helps me keep after you two." Beatrice looked about the room, noticing a man with two boys, his sons she assumed, looking around for a table. Well the dining did fill up fast for people clamoring for something to get their morning going and with many new passengers arriving and everything. Taking sympathy on him she had an idea and flagged over the waiter. "My good man." She handed him a five dollar bill "That gentlemen with the two boys, would you please seat them with us at our table. We have more than enough room to have a few extra guests." She thanked the waiter, and she understood, plenty of times when it was her with the girls needing a spot to sit, a table to grab and many kindly people offered their spot so it was only right to return to favor. With the man and boys sitting with them, Beatrice bid a "Good morning. I trust you'll have no issues sitting with us, beats standing around waiting for so long right? Might I introduce myself, I am Beatrice Sampson. Feel free to call me Beatrice if you desire. These two lovely little ladies with me are my charges, Historie Duvet and her younger sister, Victorique."

Histoire said "Hello, good morning."

Victorique whom taken a rather big bite of her muffin could only nod a hello.

The Barnes Family - Third Class Cabin

"Trisha it is, then and pleasure is mine." She turned to start laying out the hand knitted blanket for Cordelia's bed and her own Sara got a little chuckle, "I understand. Your boys are important to you but it's good to have another woman to talk with on such a long trip. I'm just as relieved to see a friendly face, I do tend to face discrimination with my skin and having a daughter who is white. We sailed on the SS Leigh segregated every which way, coloreds with coloreds, whites with whites. That meant Cordelia had to eat alone in white dining, use white toilets." She sighed "Honestly I'm glad they let us be in the same dormitory, I suppose it helped the ship not being as big as this one is, just enough room to squeeze women in one part and men in another. Oh anyway that's just the sad tales of me, it's a new start, I should pick up my spirits some more, yes?" She again chuckled. "So, Trisha, are you and your boys also migrating to the Cartune Islands as we are?"

“Good morning sir, welcome aboard the SS Fascination. Max, Vic. Please show this man to his cabin if you will, and please take his luggage with him”.

D’Umbra
“Oh buongiorno” he smiled at the steward. As the steward went over the options he thought about it. Breakfasts back home were usually light. Should he go for oatmeal? Maybe a pastry? But he wasn’t much of a pastry man, not in the morning at least. The English breakfast sounded nice, but not whatever this “blood pudding” was. Sounded queer. Anglos did seem odd to him. Well anyways, he decided. “Eh..I’ll ‘av the Inglese breakfast. English. Coffee too. Please.”

Vic and Max
Vic was standing idly while Max was looking around, for anything really. He found this ship rather boring despite its purpose. Carrying fat rich slobs on a booze cruise. Although a drop didn’t sound bad, maybe some rich girl here wouldn’t be bad either. His thoughts were stabbed by the calling of his name, it was that damned chief steward. More bags to carry. There were plenty more passengers so it didn’t really surprise him.

The two went to where they were called over and assisted the passenger with his bags. “Good morning sir, welcome to the Fascination.” Vic greeted the man as the two began carrying his bags “My name’s Vic, or Victor if you want. The other mule over here’s Max.” he chuckled a bit “Ya know, if you ever need anything just let us know and all that. Mind if I ask where ya from?”

Cartoonia wrote:“It’s the only class occupying this deck, so it’s only natural.

I giggled nervously as I began to follow them and continued our conversation, they were nice and sure liked chatting, well it's just I've always been a little shy but I'm nice when you talk to me. "Eheh right right so it is. Oh I'm alone erp!" I just realized I already blew my own cover story! Well I gotta salvage it to not draw suspicion now. "Well yeah I'm alone. A long story but my folks are sending for me from Cartune Islands." It's a shame I couldn't be truthful with them, they had an open spot it sounded like in their cabin but I really just can't chance it with anyone finding out I'm a stowaway. Maybe if we were at least already at open sea but in port, it'd be too easy to chase me away. "Too bad about your friend not being able to make it. Hope she'll meet you in the Cartune Islands so you can have fun!"

"I would love to," the woman said, nodding her head. "I've been wanting to travel to Canada for a while, to see the sights, but I am required to return to Diarcesia. I can make a call to a relative who lives in Canada, but I don't know if I'll get a response. How close are we to my room?"
