Depends on what the connection between them and your people is. If you don't know them and they introduce themselves politely and try to talk to your guys and get to know them, then you should respond in kind or show off the assholery of the more assholery characters. If they just start blowing stuff up and don't introduce themselves, then your characters will either try to intervene or get out while they still can.

On the opposite hand, if your people know the other characters well, there's going to be a lot of "how's it going?" and "how's (thing they mentioned in the past) going?"

If the other characters do something particularly big, you might have your characters be excited/pretend to be excited and ask questions about (big thing) if it's good and run away screaming if it's bad.

imagine that you're writing your own characters. one character takes an action, and others respond to it as part of an overarching plot. for an rp, it's the same, except you're only writing the actions of a few characters instead of the whole thing. it's a collaborative story, basically.

He played the last song on his list. The song, for some reason, didn't play at all. Maybe he messed something up, he thought. But, a thought began playing in his mind, consisting of a few words:

"All I want in life is to be happy, happy.

His mood changed.

Something had been missing to him, something he didn't even know anymore. Something that was absent from his life for years, only returning every few years to lead him on, to give him a false sense of hope. Something.... relieving. Something that would have prevented his self-hatred.

Yet he didn't know what it was. He could vaguely remember what was that he was missing in his life, then he remembered his suicide note, especially this line in particular:

"I'm not happy anymore."

He was missing a permanent sense of happiness. The realization of that had hurt him severely, everything felt more mundane because of it.

And yet, he knew he had to press on. He knew that he couldn't whine and moan about it for every remaining moment of his life, and that he had to seek help eventually.

And he was prepared for it, no matter the cost.

He noticed that Katerina had begun walking towards him. She seemed to be doing a lot better now, which was a good sign to him. She noticed that he wasn't doing great, so she walked faster towards him.

Think it's alright so far, let me know if I should fix anything.
