Grand Mufti Naoto Mohammed Toyoda [豊田 ムハンマド 直人]

Accidentally forgot to update my account.

I have now been elevated to the office of Grand Mufti by HIS DIVINE HOLINESS the CALIPH-EMPEROR of Japan.

This is the highest non-hereditary priestly authority in all of Isuramu-Kyo, the Japanese branch of the worldwide Islamic religion.

In this role I will also be serving as the CALIPH-EMPEROR's personal priest and spiritual advisor.

Allahu Akbar!

It is laughable that the west always tries to tarnish Isuramu-Kyo by calling it primitive even though they could not have existed without. When they were living in jungles and worshipping mud idols, we were advancing the world with discovery after discovery; invention after invention.

Algebra and geometry? Maps and navigation? Optics? Modern medicine and surgery? Muslims came up with it all.

Try living a day without any of these and then we will talk.

OOC: Esports General is a medium-sized esports tournament that exists only in my universe, do not try to search it up, you won't find anything. Esports General is generally hosted over one day and the games hosted are three of either of the following: Valorant, Fortnite: Battle Royale, League of Legends (LoL), Minecraft Bed Wars, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, or Overwatch. It is not as competitive as other esports tournaments, the financial rewards for winning either of the three subtournaments are minimal and its mostly for recreational purposes or for less famous esports teams to train themselves for when they play in more competitive tournaments such as the LoL World Championship.

Any resemblance of the "Esports General" name to that of a real-life esports tournament is purely coincidental.

Jake, Tetris Guy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: NO WAY?! Don't they usually just stick to World One locations?

REPLY

World One: Not first world (developed) countries. First world in this sense means our real world but within the timeline of my fictional universe. There are three separate worlds in my universe that connect to each other via magnetic portals, Cavirfi is in the third one.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: They usually do and they mostly stick to Asia although they did have their 2018 edition in Seattle and they did try to have their 2012 edition in Jovene but they ended up doing the 2012 edition in Hong Kong instead and they did have their 2016 edition in Englishtown which is the first time they did a tournament outside of World One.

REPLY

Jovene and Englishtown = Jovene and Englishtown are two cities in the second world.

Jake, Tetris Guy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jonska Fretsburg: If that's the case, then doing this year's edition in Barnumberg is shocking.

REPLY

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: It is shocking but it makes sense. Last year's edition was in Manila because the Philippines allows people of a lot of nationalities to come in visa-free. We only allow Crabaiaian citizens to come in visa-free but our visas are extremely easy to get (you don't need to get permission from the government, you can just buy a tourist visa on a per-day cost basis) and I'm pretty sure some rich guy in Barnumberg decided to pay the people who host Esports General to host the thing in Barnumberg because he pretty much covered the costs of everything like renting the venue, paying for the visas of the players, accomodation, etc.

So, yeah, the 2024 edition in Barnumberg will be the first ever World Three edition by Esports General.

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jonska Fretsburg: This rich guy btw is literally the Lord of Barnumberg, I saw it on the official newspage for Esports General.

REPLY

Lord = This is the title of a regional governor in Cavirfi, they are the leaders of second-tier governments in Cavirfi's federal system and have full dictatorial powers of the region they control provided that decrees they enact are within the limits of federal law and the constitution.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: Well yeah, but he's using his own personal money that he made before coming to Cavirfi. So, I honestly don't care if he's the Lord, he's funding the event in a personal capacity not an official one.

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jonska Fretsburg: True, but then again, since it's the Lord of Barnumberg who allowed a Barbie ad to appear on one of the city buses, Mark's definitely boycotting this shit.

@Jake, Tetris Guy: Haha ofc that was the event you wanted to go to, I know you. Alright, homie, we goin' to League of Legends. Set the date: May 11, starts 8:30 PM.

REPLY

Jake, Tetris Guy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: The date of the thing is the day after the last day of school, how convenient.

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: They intentionally put the date after the last day of school because a lot of their audience are High Schoolers. In last year's edition, they hosted it on July 8 because the last day of school in the Philippines was on July 7. So, yeah, we didn't just get lucky, the convenience is by design.

REPLY

Jake, Tetris Guy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jonska Fretsburg: Jonska, are you going to watch this year's edition in-person?

REPLY

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: Yes, I'm already booking a ticket to watch the Minecraft Bed Wars event. I will be hopping on an early morning train from Ostry to Barnumberg on May 11 (the day of this year's edition) as I'll be participating in Sunny's upcoming Draw-A-Thon the night before, yeah I will be quite tired but I will try to sleep in the train even if the train only takes 1 hour to get to Barnumberg. The Minecraft Bed Wars event run from 12 PM to 3 PM so I will have to make sure I get out of the hotel I'm booking by 11 PM so I can take either a subway train or a city bus to the area around the venue.

@Julie, Military Fangirl: You need 3 tickets to attend all 3 events so whatever ticket you buy is specifically for the event you paid to watch.

REPLY

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: Oh okay, so I will probably book a ticket for the League of Legends event. My training is from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, so I am hoping to go home at 5:00 pm, change from my training uniform to my going out clothes, leave to take the subway to the venue at 6:00 pm and maybe eat dinner at any restaurant I can find since I would arrive quite early, then head to the venue before the League of Legends event starts at 8:30 pm.

No, before some of you are gonna ask why I didn't use the military clock, I'm not talking to soldiers, I must adjust the way I tell time accordingly.

REPLY

Going out clothes = In Trinational (Cavirfite, Crabaiaian, and Estiman) English, going out clothes refer to casual clothing that someone wears while out in public rather than at home. This originates from some Tagalog-speaking people that migrated to the three nations using 'pangbahay' (lit. for the home) to refer to clothes such as pajamas, certain shorts, t-shirts that were made of lighter materials, flip flops and light sandals, etc. which people wore while at home or simply walking in the neighborhood. While going to more urbanised financial and commercial districts required 'pangalis' (lit. for going out) which refers to casual clothes such as t-shirts made of heavier materials, cargo shorts, jeans, jackets (if it's cold), sneakers, maybe even other shoes like ugg boots and heavier sandals.

While ofc this was not some formal occassion and the clothing you were wearing wasn't formal or even informal (using the Western definition) in the slightest, you still did have to wear pangalis in some of the more upper-middle class cultures of Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Filipino migrants to the three nations eventually used that system of classifying clothes (pangbahay, pangalis, then smart casual, then semi-formal, then formal) rather than the Western casual, informal, semi-formal, formal classification so much, they began using it when speaking in English to the locals of the countries they migrated to and the locals just so happen to adapt that terminology. Which is how people of all ethnicities in Crabaiaia, Cavirfi, and Estima say "going out clothes" instead of "casual clothes" because there are two main types of casual clothes in these cultures, you'll need to clarify.

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Julie, Military Fangirl: You're so organised with your time lol, me and Jake would just eat, get in our going out clothes, wait for the time, get distracted, then leave when we realize we're gonna be late then arrive just in time or a few minutes early.

Say, do you want me to book your ticket for you? If you book your own ticket, you're gonna get a different seat from us and Jake which wouldn't actually be hanging out, so are you going to Esports General on your own or are you planning to go with us?

REPLY

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: I have to be organised with my time if I want to do well in the Army, my daily routine is strict there so I'm gonna have to adjust accordingly.

As for the ticket thing, yeah buy my ticket, if you get there early, we can chat for a bit and not be lost looking for each other.

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Julie, Military Fangirl: Yeah, organising your time makes sense given what you're going to join in a few weeks (assuming you get a good result on your medical thing). Anyways, yeah I'll buy your ticket, so yeah, I'll book for you, me, and Jake right now.

Also, fun fact about the League of Legends event, the Manila Computer Shop Bros are gonna be competing in this year's event.

REPLY

OOC: Manila Computer Shop Bros are not a real esports team, don't try to look them up, if they happen to be a real team then that's coincidental.

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: Wait, aren't those the Filipino guys that made it to semi-finals for Overwatch in Tokyo 2019 then absolutely wrecked Silvers and Golds (the British guys) in the finals for CS:GO in Bangkok 2020?

REPLY

OOC: Silvers and Golds is also not a real team, they only exist in my universe, if there is an esports team named them. I'm sorry, it's a coincidence.

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Julie, Military Fangirl: Yes, those guys, they won the finals for League of Legends in Paris 2022 but dropped Manila 2023 to try and qualify for group stage at the actual 2023 League of Legends World Championship in South Korea but they didn't make it to group stage so they're hoping to try their hand again at Esports General's League of Legends event and it just so happens that Barnumberg 2024 has a League of Legends event (Manila 2023 didn't have League of Legends apparently probably for randomisation reasons despite how much demand there was from gamers in Manila to have it up as an event).

So yeah, they'll be competing, I hope they win honestly or maybe they should make it to finals and then lose because they did say they wanted to make a few mistakes here and there to see what went wrong at the qualifying stage for the 2023 Worlds. So maybe a grand loss at the final match will probably give them a chance to analyze their mistakes and then rethink their strat.

REPLY

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: However they go this year, I hope they find a way to make it to the 2025 Worlds since they've been trying so hard to get into a major esports tournament even if it's just the group stage. So yeah, hope they make it, they're a good team but there's clearly some strats they need to rethink.

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Grand Mufti Naoto Mohammed Toyoda You know those "filthy westerners" have some good ideas. Like women's rights, secular governance, non-religious laws applied equally to all, I could go on. I think developing along more western lines might have something to do with why Dayganistan is doing pretty good and isn't plagued by civil war and political instability since our government can concern itself with more important things than beating up women for not wearing the hijab, but I'm just some guy who wants to go online to practice speaking English.

Features: near-universal gun ownership, governmental dysfunction, terrified Christinaslander Air National Guard personnel counting down the days until they rotate back home, and an eternal standoff with the last of it's former oppressors.

Grand Mufti Naoto Mohammed Toyoda [豊田 ムハンマド 直人]

emilia 'emi' anderson, Hossein Farid:

Wearing hijab has never been compulsory for Japanese women. Some states like Talibanada are stricter about it, but it is not a universal law across Isuramu-Kyo.

What is this "civil war and instability" you talk of? Japan has never been in conflict since the Great Liberation War and we are quite peaceful and safe.

Tatra_Geologist:

Many crusader states have tried and failed to plant their crosses of oppression on our lands and enslave our people; yours will be next. Unlike you Krishtoukyo worshippers we Muslims never turn the other cheek and let bullies have their way.

[OOC] Great Liberation War: A civil war wherein the Japanese government fell to Islamic revolutionaries [e.g. like Iran] but instead of a socialist republic they made it a theocratic monarchy. Still undecided on exact date.

Roleplaying as Islamic Empire of Japan

Basically Japan ruled by a Muslim theocracy that overthrew the old government in a coup.

The Gospel reading for the Sixth Sunday of Easter is Jn 15:9-17, which forms the other part of the discourse known as The Vine and the Branches and immediately follows last week's Gospel reading. Here Jesus sums up the Commandments of God The Father in three words: love one another (verse 17). In the Extraordinary Form, the reading for the Fifth Sunday after Easter is Jn 16:5-14.

How many times have we found ourselves failing to love one another? How many times have we said to ourselves that "this person deserves to be kicked down on sight" or "this institution should be destroyed and its members lined up against a wall" or "these people are plain EVIL because of their profession?" Are we really showing love to one another when we are convinced that killing off People We Do Not Like is the only option available to us? More to the point, are we really showing love to one another when we turn a blind eye to those in need? We shall find the answer as soon as we examine our consciences.

On a final note, we wish our Orthodox brothers and sisters a Happy Easter. Christus Resurrexit!

@Grand Mufti Naoto Mohammed Toyoda when the fuck did i bring up invading your country or enslaving it?

if anything that's what you've always planned, god-cultist.

you're not going to put another fucking twenty-limbed eldritch meatpile screaming for flesh and grain between us and the Greater Sky - and i dare you to try.

[ OOC: 'god'/'gods' has very different connotations in the brickverse compared to RL - almost universally negative, generally because 'gods' in the brickverse were generally the aforementioned twenty-limbed eldritch meatpiles. This is not to say that they do not have religions or deities - but the specific phrasing used thus far generally sends off alarm bells comparable, say, a Catholic witnessing someone preaching Satanism.

Generally what an Abrahamic religion would refer to as 'God', in the sense of an uncaused cause or an omniscient/omnipotent being, would be referred to in BRC and most other Elutherian nations as 'the Greater Sky/the Greater Sea and Sky'. ]
