@Senator J. Smith: No need to be rude. All you had to do was say something like this.

"No, in fact I did not cheat on my spouse, and in fact could not have because I am not presently married. C. M. Skinner is also not married, and so there has been no infidelity."

Not to hard to say, if a bit wordy. I realize you may be feeling just slightly on edge right now, and that sometimes lends itself to defensiveness, but there is no need to go seeking enemies when the world is like as not to give you plenty without you ever asking.

Rev. Fr. Isidro Satou III, CSsR Cebu City, DH

Love is always associated with the heart. The Apostle Paul linked it precisely to that Heart which on Golgotha was pierced by the centurion's lance. In this gesture there was revealed the depth of the love with which the Father has loved the world. He has loved it so intensely "that he gave his only Son" (Jn 3:16). In this pierced Heart that dimension of love which is greater than any created love whatever has found its external expression. In it saving and redemptive love has manifested itself. The Father has given "his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (Jn 3:16). And therefore Paul writes: "I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named" (Eph 3:14-15); I bend them to express the gratitude which I feel before the revelation which the Father has made of his love in his Son's redeeming Death. At the same time I bend my knees, so that God "according to the riches of his glory may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man" (Eph 3:16). The heart is precisely "the inner man". The Heart of God's Son becomes, for the Apostle, the source of strength for all human hearts. All this has been wonderfully rendered in many of the invocations of the Litany of the Sacred Heart.
- Excerpt from the Homily of St. John Paul II, June 6th, 1997

The Gospel reading for today, the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, is Lk 15:3-7, part of The Parable of the Lost Sheep, the complete parable starting on verse 1. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is a Class I Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Jn 19:31-37.
Sollemnitas Sacratissimi Cordis Iesu falls on the third Friday after Pentecost. When it coincides with the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, as with this year, the observation of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist is moved to the day before.
The devotion to La Sagrada Corazon de Jesus as we understand it today comes from the experience of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (feast day: October 16th). In 1856, Bl. Pius IX would establish the Feast of the Sacred Heart as obligatory for the Latin Church; by 1928, the Feast would become a Double of the First Class--the equivalent of a Solemnity in the modern General Roman Calendar.

Rev. Fr. Isidro Satou III, CSsR Cebu City, DH

Our entire perfection consists in being conformed, united and consecrated to Jesus Christ. Hence the most perfect of all devotions is undoubtedly that which conforms, unites and consecrates us most perfectly to Jesus Christ. Now, since Mary is of all creatures the one most conformed to Jesus Christ, it follows that among all devotions that which most consecrates and conforms a soul to our Lord is devotion to Mary, his Holy Mother, and that the more a soul is consecrated to her the more will it be consecrated to Jesus Christ.
- St. Louis de Montfort

The Gospel reading for today, the Obligatory Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is Lk 2:41-51, which is almost the entirety of The Boy Jesus in the Temple, the complete parable ending on verse 52. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, a Class I Feast Day, was moved here owing to the 24th being Sacred Heart; the Gospel reading is Lk 1:57-68.
Twice in Chapter 2 does St. Luke (feast day: October 18th) record that Mary kept all things in her heart, that there she might ponder over them (vv. 19 and 51). Verse 35 recounts the prophecy of Simeon that her heart would be pierced with a sword--the first of Seven Sorrows. Originally, the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was celebrated on August 22nd, the octave day of the Assumption (now the Queenship of Mary, formerly May 31st); under Mysterii Paschalis (St. Paul VI, 1969), it was moved to the Saturday after the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. As an Obligatory Memorial, the celebration is only impeded when the date coincides with a Feast or a Solemnity; the last time that happened was in 2019, as it fell on June 29th, the Solemnity of Ss. Peter and Paul, and the next time it happens will be on 2028, as it will fall on June 24th, the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

Fr. (CDR) Tecumseh C. Piañar Bacolod, NG

In the Ordinary Form, the Gospel reading for tomorrow, the Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, is Lk 9:51-62, which opens Luke's Travel Narrative with two episodes: Departure for Jerusalem; Samaritan Inhospitality (vv. 51-56), and The Would-be Followers of Jesus. (vv. 57-62). In the Extraordinary Form, the reading for the Third Sunday after Pentecost is Lk 15:1-10.

Just as the Galilean ministry begins with the rejection at Nazareth, so does the travel narrative begin with the rejection by the Samaritans. In the first episode, Jesus rebukes His disciples for suggesting that the Samaritans be severely punished; here He rejects the identification of Himself with Elisha, who in 2 Kgs 1:10,12 takes the course of action the disciples ask of Jesus. The second episode has Jesus speaking of the severity and unconditional nature of Christian discipleship.

Just as by melting two candles together you get one piece of wax, so, I think, one who receives the Flesh and Blood of Jesus is fused together with Him by this Communion and the soul finds that he is in Christ and Christ is in him.
- St. Cyril of Alexandria

The Gospel reading for today, the Optional Memorial of St. Cyril of Alexandria, is Mt 5:13-19, which is the entirety of The Similes of Salt and Light (vv. 13-16) and almost the entirety of the episode on Teaching About the Law (vv.17-19, the complete episode ending on verse 20). In the preconciliar form of the Mass, today is the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a Class IV Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Jn 19:25-27.
St. Cyril of Alexandria was the 24th Patriarch of Alexandria, serving as patriarch from AD 412 to AD 444. He succeeded his uncle, Theophilus of Alexandria (r. 384-412) and was succeeded by Dioscorus I of Alexandria (r. 444-454). With Theophilus, he was present at the Synod of the Oak, with saw St. John Chrysostom (feast day: September 13th) deposed from the see of Constantinople. Cyril's spiritual fight for the title "Theotokos (God-bearer)" as the title of the Blessed Mother during the First Council of Ephesus in AD 431 is what defined him in Church history; through this he laid the foundation for Mariology as a theological study of Mary, Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

@Pandareos III: Some high court, in essence a collection of old men out of touch with time, in some backwater nation decided, that young women are not allowed to get abortions, period. Not in cases of rape and torture, not in cases of medical issues, not in any case. So, people are now worried about the poor souls, who can't afford going to places where it is legal and instead use more dangerous methods in far less clinical circumstances.
And, of course, as usual for social media, everyone's loosing their shit.
