As Eastertide closes, the Gospel has us anticipating the same; the Peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ He leaves with us before His Ascension into Heaven, where He seats at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. In the Confederation, the Ascension is not observed as a Holy Day of Obligation outside those communities that adhere to the Extraordinary Form; this coming Thursday, May 26th, is the Solemnity of the Ascension where it is observed as such.

At 8:21 earlier this morning, a fire broke out in New Washington, PY. The fire started at the Franklin and Ruiz Center for Regenerative Medicine and was put out before it could reach the center's hospital wing. Franklin and Ruiz is one of the Confederation's leading stem cell research facilities; speculations of sabotage has flooded online spaces when the fire first broke out, with the Fire Department of New Washington assigning a team to investigate the cause of the fire.

It seems like there's quite a number of royalty and famous people here! So I've decided to make an account too.
I am Marianna I, Queen of Jolantia. I doubt, many of you've heard of this country before, so here's a little crash course!
We're a small kingdom located between Finland, Russia and Poland, with an area of 175.000 square kilometers and a population of 5,9 million. We're named after Queen Jolanta I, our founder and first ruler. We speak Jolantian (jolanska), a Germanic language similar to Swedish, Danish and Norwegian, and to a lesser degree, English and German. Our capital and largest city is Drottningsborg and our currency is the krona (crown). Jolantia's government is an absolute monarchy, but personal freedoms are held sacrosanct and strongly protected in our laws. We aren't a member of the EU or NATO, although we work closely and have friendly relations with many of their member states. Our road traffic drives on the right side, and our trains on the left. The railway gauge is 1.524 mm. Our electrical supply is 230 volts, our calling code is +426 and our Internet code is ".jl".

The lighthouse is a historical landmark overlooking the Marquisate of Sorsogon in the Kingdom of New Luzon; Capul itself is home to one of three Coast Guard Fisheries Training Centers. Accounting for existing tensions, speculation that this was a deliberate attack have flooded online spaces.

Your family has let them in and you gave them complete control over your currency and as a result they have deliberately inflated the currency and bankrupted your people and forced them into debt. But you are ok with it because you have golden trinkets, here is an idea if you really love gold so much you should put your currency back onto the Gold Standard like we have.
I heard you grandad introduced gay into Spain because he hated morality, your family is forcing straight people to divorce and force them into gay relationships. You have Homofront in your borders and you hate Bolriegians.

Thank you! It's understandable not being aware, even Parliamentary systems can be different between countries. In our case, it is like being leader of Parliament, in my case I'm head of the particular chamber. Thus I'll get to set agendas and oversee appointments and the like. It's a great deal of responsibility. Most of the proposals usually come out the lower chamber but we too can make proposals for bills. But now that I gave you the spiel, perhaps you'll give me yours? Eager to learn more of other nations.

A scheduled naval exercise has been changed to accommodate the arrival of ships coming from the Strategic and Economic Alliance. Exercise SILVER EXARCH was originally scheduled for June 5th in the South China Sea; SILVER EXARCH has been moved up to May 29th, in anticipation of the arrival of the Nead Foiche Group of the SDF Navy, with the exercise to take place in the Western Pacific.

Arguably, the Kingdom's aim toward a reactionary state--not for nothing is the Kingdom considered a neo-feudal society--where the rule of power is the only rule worth abiding is...I'll be frank, the Kingdom has feasted on the corpse of a flawed republic, and for all the lip service it pays to the values that republic held, going deep into New Filipino society will have anyone horrified at the ethos they're trying to build there.

@HRRH Queen Ophelia Well, we don't really have an equivalent as we're an absolute monarchy. The closest thing we have to a parliament would be the Riksrådet (Council of State), consisting of myself plus my government ministers and advisors. It's responsible for proposing new bills, policies and appointments, but ultimately I have to sign off on them (which I can choose to do or not), before they can become officially valid.

The Gospel reading for today (as it is already past midnight of the 25th), the Optional Memorial of Pope St. Gregory VII, is Mt 16:13-19, which covers almost the entire episode on Peter's Confession About Jesus, the enire episode ending on verse 20. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is the Vigil of the Ascension, a Class II Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Jn 17:1-11.
Pope Gregory VII, born Hildebrand of Sovana, was Bishop of Rome from AD 1073 until his death in AD 1085. Among his closest associates was St. Peter Damian (feast day: February 21st), himself an associate of Pope St. Leo IX (feast day: April 19th); these associates would help lay the foundation for the reforms that would be named after him, although in life, he insisted that the reforms, like his papal name, were in honor of St. Gregory the Great (feast day: September 3rd).
According to the computus, where the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ is observed as a Holy Day of Obligation, today is the vigil of the same; per Mysterii Paschalis (St. Paul VI, 1969), the vigil itself starts on the night before, as Ascension is a Solemnity--the equivalent of a Class I Feast Day according to the 1960 GRC. The Confederation does not observe Ascension as a Holy Day of Obligation, thus the observance replaces the Seventh Sunday of Easter.

The motorcade of senatorial candidate Jared Anthony Oliveros was cut short by a bomb that exploded one hour ago. Oliveros himself, a candidate for the second Senate seat representing Panay, was unhurt, but six people have been confirmed killed and fourteen injured. The explosion itself occurred close to the town hall of Pandan, PY, leading to speculation that the bombing was originally aimed at the town hall as part of New Filipino harassment attacks.

In addition to my seat, the first seats representing the District of Humabon, Samar, Leyte, and Marinduque, as well as the second seats representing Cebu, Negros, and Romblon, are up for election this year; the implications are particularly horrifying if you were to ask me.
