This is my first post here. So uh hello. Not sure what the fuss is about but everyone in town is clamoring to join this. There's not a lot about me that's interesting, from a tiny mountain village in northern Abetton, been down to Sauville a handful of times. Big city is pretty fun I guess. Theater lover, though not interested in pursuing it as a career. Decent from old royalty but that's long and complicated there. Mmm so that's it.

@Beatrix Incanto Welcome. I believe almost everyone has been signing up for this site as well. Old royalty you say? That does seem like a long and complicated history. Your first name, not to be rude, but is rather familiar as many of us students in secondary school would know in history class.

I guess so. Abetton has largely lagged behind the rest of the world in new tech but changes seem to be happening. Oh my name? Well it's maybe not as common as once was but Beatrix still remains a family name in many families across Abetton, especially among nobility, though we're not nobility, we're common like i said, but yeah my name is passed down through the family for ages and well I suspect i will too when that day comes.

JUST IN: Governor Yap has announced the imposition of a curfew for the entire province of Marinduque in light of recent attacks coming in from New Luzon. @Jalnatzic the Greatest: My dear boy, you clearly know absolutely nothing of His Majesty's undying hatred for Communism, an ideology that spits on the very foundations of New Filipino society, an ideology that seeks to destroy Faith, undermine Authority, and subvert Community. Before making such harebrained assertations, perhaps it would do you much good to learn about the Kingdom of New Luzon: her dreams of bringing home the lost and welcoming the Old Islands back into His Majesty's Embrace; the values that make her a bulwark against the moral weakness of the Modern World; how she makes no pretense of ruling in a manner her people deserve. It is obvious you know nothing of the Kingdom, nothing of His Majesty; I strongly suggest correcting that lack of knowledge.

O God, who reward faithful souls and who have consecrated this day by the martyrdom of Pope Saint John the First, graciously hear the prayers of your people and grant that we, who venerate his merits, may imitate his constancy in the faith. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
- Collect prescribed for the Optional Memorial of St. John I, Pope and Martyr

The Gospel reading for yesterday (as it is already past midnight of the 19th), the Optional Memorial of Pope St. John I, was Lk 22:24-30, the episode on The Role of the Disciples. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this was the feast of St. Venantius, a Class III Feast Day; the Gospel reading was Jn 15:1-7.
Pope John I, a native of Siena, was Bishop of Rome from AD 523 until his death in AD 526. His efforts to reconcile Arians with the greater Church led to his imprisonment, ill-treatment, and eventual martyrdom at the behest of Theodoric the Great, Arian king of the Ostrogoths in Italy, after being falsely accused of conspiring with Constantinople. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, his feast day fell on May 27th, along with that of St. Bede the Venerable (feast day under the current GRC: May 25th).

Today is the 56th anniversary of the official unification of the Gabonese Republic with the Workers' Union of the Congo. Looking out at the city of Uhurumji, I am greatly inspired by how far we've come in that time. Socialism has allowed for the development of Africa's resources for the benefit of Africans, rather than allowing them to fill the pockets of vampiric neocolonialists as occurs elsewhere on the continent. We have come far, yet we shall surely go much further. To socialism today, tomorrow and forever!

Whenever the divine favour chooses someone to receive a special grace, or to accept a lofty vocation, God adorns the person chosen with all the gifts of the Spirit needed to fulfil the task at hand.
- St. Bernardine of Siena (1380-1444)

The Gospel reading for today, the Optional Memorial of St. Bernardine of Siena, is Lk 9:57-62, The Would-be Followers of Jesus. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is a Class III Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Jn 15:1-7.
Bernardino di Siena was known as "the Apostle of Italy" for his efforts in reviving the country's Catholic faith in the 15th Century AD. A systematizer of Scholastic economics, his popular preaching was a reflection not only of his own zeal against the moral failings of his time (chief among them gambling, infanticide, and usury), but also of the hard supersessionism which, as I have pointed out in my article on St. John Chrysostom (feast day: September 13th), would serve as fodder for the antisemitism that culminated in the Holocaust. Fortunately for all of us today, the Church has abandoned the hard supersessionism that enabled said Holocaust in the Second Vatican Council.

Altogether, they pocketed the equivalent of 400$ NSD—money that was never theirs to begin with. These public servants committed a horrible crime by betraying the public trust. Most of them belonged to the secular clergy and three were laymen seriously committed to helping priests. They did not stop courageously exercising their ministry when religious persecution intensified in the beloved land of Mexico, unleashing hatred of the Catholic religion. They all freely and calmly accepted martyrdom as a witness to their faith, explicitly forgiving their persecutors. Faithful to God and to the Catholic faith so deeply rooted in the ecclesial communities which they served by also promoting their material well-being, today they are an example to the whole Church and to Mexican society in particular.
- Excerpt from St. John Paul II's Homily at the Canonization Mass of the first 25 Saints of the Cristero War, along with Ss. José María de Yermo y Parres and María of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, May 21st, 2000

The Gospel reading for today, the Optional Memorial of the Martyr-Saints of the Cristero War (Ss. Cristobal Magallanes and companions), is Jn 12:24-26, an excerpt from The Coming of Jesus' Hour. In the preconciliar form, today is a Class IV Feria, the Saturday of Our Lady; the decree Cum Sanctissima (Pope Francis, 2020) allows for the observation of this Optional Memorial in said form today.
The vast majority of the Cristero Martyr-Saints were Catholic priests executed for carrying out their ministry despite the suppression under the anticlerical laws enforced by Plutarco Elías Calles, who served as President of Mexico from 1924 to 1928 and was supported in his campaign to exterminate the Catholic Church in Mexico by the Ku Klux Klan in what can be interpreted as an example of anti-religious bigotry and racism walking hand-in-hand. To reiterate: the Cristero War is an example of the notion that anti-religious bigots and literal racists are kissing cousins.
