Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

Okay Sonic and Lee approved of my decision, Alex will be temporarily banned from the Sunny Garden server indefinitely.

@Greener Beaner: If you go on Discord and can't find my server icon, check my previous posts and this one as well, you'll know why.

OOC Italics:

Children = So Sunny's server is like an online family, a group of friends (or a community) who have close mutual relationships who are so close to each other that they (usually as a joke) decide to assign each other roles that you find in a family (mom, dad, sis, bro, aunties, grandma, etc.) and call each other a family. You have probably been in one, especially if you're in the digital art community as online families are most common there. Sunny's online family consists of Sunny as the Mom; Sab as the Dad; Bob, Jonska, Sonic, and Lee are uncles; Alex (Greener Beaner) as the only aunt of the family; non-Admin mods as the "cousins"; and non-Admin non-Mod members as the children. When Sunny says she's banning Alex "for the children" she means that she is banning Alex so that she can protect the rest of her online family (her YouTube/ Discord community) from any attacks caused by the people cancelling Alex due to recent scandals caused by her exposing 2 of Raphaelle's (her girlfriend) exes for being shit partners to the latter, this is what Sunny calls the "drama".

Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: It's okay, bestie. Like I said, I understand that you had to do it and I accept my ban if it means the server will be safe from attacks. I forgive you, but it doesn't change the fact that I feel betrayed as your best friend of almost 16 years.

Context: Sunny is 21 (turning 22 in November) and Alex is 23 (turned in March), they've been best friends since the former was 6 and the latter was 7.

@Greener Beaner: I feel shitty for doing that ;(

Can I come to the apartment just so I can give you a sowwy hug.

Sowwy = Sorry but spelled the OwO way.

@Anastasija Kladnov:
Yeah, I never did really well in any of the subjects either. Still, Chinese was by far the worst. The only reason I didn't quit earlier was because I couldn't - here you're forced to take it all the way from 5th to 10th Grade. But after I failed the second time, I basically stopped giving a shit and didn't bother trying anymore, since it was all a waste of time and drain of energy when I could be doing other things. Anyway that explains why I took and failed that class so many times, despite hating and sucking at it. It's bullshit that your ability to graduate high school and get an Abitur certificate, which is required for many jobs, hinges on one single subject.

Oh well. I guess I could always be a MyFace or WhoTube influencer. Or failing that, an "adult model", lol. We'll see.

@Mayor Viktor Kadgadvadic:
Alas, that wouldn't be possible here. You need at least a Bachelor's degree to run for office, and in fact many of our politicians have Master's degrees or more. Our president Friedrich Kwan even got his PhD from Oxford. So yeah, this is NOT the place to be if you're an under-performer - one of the unintended side effects of a meritocracy I guess.

@Reuben Solomon, MD:
I might've made that list too ... were it not for failing all my Chinese exams and being unable to get my Abitur as a result. My hope had been to become a veterinarian, but I'll just have to keep dreaming by the looks of it.

Max Schulz Tsingtau, Kiautschou

@Anastasija Kladnov:
Perhaps if she'd just put in a bit of effort, instead of sitting on her ass and playing video games all day, she would've passed high school like most people. But no, she just had to be a lazy bum and an embarassment to my Vati's family line. You'll be extremely lucky to have Kat work for you - because that's about as likely as Hell freezing over.

REPLY

@Mayor Viktor Kadgadvadic:
Our worries do not come from civil unrest, but from the alarming rate at which China is building up her armed forces, and from the ongoing Ukraine crisis. Both of which pose a threat to world peace and collective security.

@Katharina Schulz All you might have needed is a bit of guidance, still you have a dream you want to achieve. I think that should give you the motivation to try again, is there anyone you can turn to for help? If it all does not go according to plan at least you tried, as for other things I did find success in other things. I always wanted to be a musician and have found moderate success from that although, I did well have a few problems here and there so I know in my sensible mind people enjoy my stuff so I intend to write some more stuff for them. I’ve also tried modelling for a bit although in my frame of mind at the time I thought that no one wanted to look at my pictures and that I was ruining the business as a result, didn’t help there was someone at the time who was essentially telling me this and worse. At the moment I have a huge acting role in an upcoming historical drama.

So if you have a calling all I can say is pursue it.

@Max Schulz Ever given thought to asking her why she is struggling with her work? Rather than just putting her down all the time, maybe she just needs someone to talk to about things. I struggled in school due to various reasons and it was made worse by the fact that whenever I did ask it just got worse. All you need to do is let her know you’ll be there for her. Don’t worry about the family line it will be ok.

@Katharina Schulz If you were to run for office all you need is good ideas, be an independent if none of the parties nominate you. Also I don’t really think you need to learn Chinese anyways, just make sure you do what you know you’re suppose to do and eat at least eight portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Believe me healthy diet and exercise will always boost motivation.

@President Friedrich Focus on the main and bigger threat. Make sure that Chinese influence does not reach your shores.

@Mayor Viktor Kadgadvadic:
Define "Chinese influence", please.

Are you talking about opposing the Chinese communist state and the PRC's ideology? That I can stand behind.

However, if you meant stamping out all semblance of Chinese culture such as the language, architecture and food, that is never going to happen, and frankly sounds like it is coming from a position of racism and xenophobia. The Kiautschounese people are every bit as Asian as they are European, and both Chinese and German are official languages and are mandatory for all citizens to learn. But you will be glad to know that we continue to write in traditional Chinese like the type used in Taiwan and Hong Kong, rather than the simplified Chinese used in China.

The Schulz family has a long history of being successful lawyers and merchants, and is a well-established and highly regarded household name, in Kiautschou and all of Asia. As a representative of the family pedigree and future heir to the estate, my younger sister falls greatly short of the standards of character and comportment which are expected of all who bear the Schulz family name: leadership, responsibility, loyalty, honesty, and most of all, work ethic.

Despite all the affection and devotion that my father and I have given her, Kat has been nothing but a black sheep and a disgrace to the family, and has done absolutely nothing to earn her keep. All she does is eat, sleep, text, watch TV and play video games all day, and I always have to clean up after her because she never bothers to do it herself.

Not to mention the time Kat put our family business in the global spotlight, and not in a good way. What happened was that she was hanging out with a group of her girl friends and kissed one of them, which another one filmed and uploaded to MyFace. Since my father is very influential worldwide, the picture was quickly shared on social media, tabloids and celebrity gossip sites all over the Internet. Dad eventually managed to get most of them taken down using a team of 50 lawyers, but not before they gained millions of views, and cost our firm a ton of money in legal fees. That incident with the kiss has brought us irreparable financial harm, not to mention the reputational harm and shame it has caused our family.

My family and I are deeply indebted to Kat, literally.

@Anastasija Kladnov:
Not at my age unfortunately. You can repeat a course or grade level as many times as you need to pass it, but once you hit 16, you either have to go on to Gymnasium (upper high school), which needs an average of 3 or better and no failed subjects, or you get washed out of the system. At this rate there's no way I'd pass any of my final exams, especially Chinese, so I decided to call it quits and have the rest of spring and summer to myself.

Also, the study culture here is extremely competitive and stressful, even toxic, which is why I'm never doing it again. Maybe not as bad as in other countries like China and Korea, but still there's a lot of pressure to do well, with little time for fun and games. Apparently the best students only sleep 3-4 hours a day, due to all the studying and homework! And those who can't manage are looked down as "lazy" or "stupid", and are officially considered illiterate. But I stopped giving shits a long time ago, and there's no way I'm going back to that prison known as "school". It probably wouldn't even be legal under the Geneva Conventions, lol.

Thanks for the kind support, by the way! You've been more of a "family" to me than my actual family.

@Mayor Viktor Kadgadvadic:
You must have a Bachelor's degree to run for any kind of public office, it's law here. Party membership not relevant.

Which means graduating from university ...
Which means being accepted to university ...
Which means getting my Abitur certificate ...
Which means studying in Gymnasium ...
Which means graduating from high school ...
Which means getting good grades on all my subjects ...
Which means passing my stupid Chinese exam.

Like that'll ever happen.

@Katharina Schulz All I can really say is for you to study as much as you can, even if this has to be at home. Believe me if you give it your all and pass then things will get better, if if you don’t succeed then you know you did whatever you could to do so. I’m sure there is some private tutors who can make sure you get at least passing grades on everything. Then afterwards you can study whatever subject you want.

Thank you, I’m honoured you think that. But I do think deep down they do care about you, I just think they are stuck on the idea of how the family looks on the outside rather on the inside. If I can try I see if I can get my father to speak to yours. Also if you do need someone to talk to about how you feel, please feel free to ask.

@Max Schulz You know I highly doubt that, family is as much about love as it is about those other things. Have you even bothered to ask why she is upset and struggling? I know what of what she is going through because I have felt that way myself, still do sometimes. My family is at least as rich as yours, if not richer. But the thing is when there is no actual love and care for each other then what is the point? Now I had struggled to make myself heard and this was hurting my parents and siblings. But that was out of actual concern for my well being, yes things had been hard for a while largely due to others trying to make me look as terrible as possible in order to make me look bad and drive a wedge between us. Luckily we did manage to figure things out and we are all closer than ever. I am also getting the help and support I need from everyone while I do tend to backslide sometimes my family, friends, partner, priest and psychiatrist I know are all there for me when I need it.

Also if you don’t really care about how she feels, here is a more practical way of looking at it, give her all the help love and support she needs. The more you work on that the more she is able to do to make you all proud of her. After I started getting the support, I stated improving and achieving a lot. Maybe you should encourage her to follow her passion and to remind her that as her brother you would always be there for her no matter how hard it gets. Because that is what family is about.

@Katharina Schulz Eh, just draw some squiggles that looks like it is from the Chinese alphabet. Again I never had any official qualifications. But I do know how to use my fists and know how to win a fight, so I became a boxer. Honestly you don’t need a degree to throw a punch. Nor do you need one to take care of animals, if you want to look after animals. Then do that, join a charity that looks after animals. Do you need qualifications to give hay to a horse? Or play catch the ball with a dog? You can do that anyhow so do that, then they might give you the means to fill out some paper and call it a qualification.

@President Friedrich I was on about their state and those in charge, but you should also make sure your culture is preserved. It is part of what makes us great, if you want to experience a different culture visit their country and observe.

Yevgenii Yagerenko Kiev, Ukraine.

As I have mentioned in my new address, it is our right as a nation to take revenge on our oppressors. Hence, by decree of the Duma, the Ukrainian state has legalised slavery on it's territory.

Only Moskals will be subject to it, and their labour or sales will contribute to rebuilding Ukraine from damages they have inflicted on us.

GLORY TO UKRAINE! GLORY TO HEROES!

Believe me, everything you said has been tried before. Nothing works with Kat, she is simply unteachable.

I am not the heartless monster that you make me out to be. I do care about my sister, which is why I'm letting her stay at my place until she can support herself (if that day ever comes at all) - my father would've disowned her and kicked her to the curb. But rather than being grateful for all that I've done for her, she always complains about everything or wants more. Almost every day I have to order takeout for her because she hates my cooking, yet can't be bothered to make her own food for once.

Beggars can't be choosers, but Kat is the most demanding and entitled princess I've ever known, and acts as if the world exists just to serve her. So it's no surprise that my patience with her is wearing thin. Hope you understand my frustration.

There's no point in beating that dead horse anymore, honestly. Passing is literally not possible for me at this point with the grades I have, so I decided to withdraw on my own since I would've been kicked out anyway this year, because of my age.

There is some hope though. I just got invited to be a voice actor in a new video game that's coming out. The invitation was from the CEO herself, who had seen some of my WhoTube videos and said I'd be a perfect fit for one of the characters. So excited!! I'll let you know how it goes.

@Max Schulz Apologies, maybe I was a little harsh on you. It is just when you are in that state of mind nothing seems to make you happy, might be an idea to get her some professional help. I know how she feels because I had a similar situation in my life from what she has told me. She’s still young and might end up becoming better in time, just needs a little extra support now and then.

Mercury News Mandaue, DH

As Eid al-Fitr approaches, Visayan Muslims prepare for celebrations, subdued they may be owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eid al-Fitr is the day that closes the observation of Ramadan, a period of roughly one month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset; the day itself is a federal holiday, falling on May 3rd this year.

The Gospel reading for today, the Optional Memorial of St. Pius V, is Jn 21:15-17, the first part of the episode on Jesus and Peter, the entire episode ending on verse 19. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is the feast of St. Catherine of Siena, a Class III Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Mt 25:1-13.
Antonio Ghislieri, who took up the religious name Michele when he joined the Order of Preachers at 14, was elected Pope in 1566 with the influential backing of San Carlos Borromeo (feast day: November 4th). In the six years of his papacy, Pius V would enforce the decrees of the Council of Trent, promulgating the 1570 Edition of the Roman Missal as part of efforts to standardize liturgy across the Latin Church; barring those locations where pre-1370 liturgies are in use, what we know today as the preconciliar form of the Mass was adopted throughout the Latin Rite. In addition, the victory at Lepanto occurred during his papacy, a victory attributed to the intercession of the Blessed Mother; this is why the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (actually an Obligatory Memorial according to the current General Roman Calendar; the title is a holdover from its preconciliar status as a Class II Feast Day, which is equivalent to a Feast Day in the current GRC) falls on October 7th.

@Anastasija Kladnov:
No I agree, I guess I have been a little too hard on Kat. And I apologize if I came off as a bit heated. It's just that having worked my ass off all through high school (and soon to be doing the same in university) to secure a good future career and provide a comfortable living for my family, only for them to get a free ride and avoid their share of the responsibilities, that can be incredibly infuriating, like having teammates who don't pull their weight and expect you to do their work for them.

But I will say this: I have high standards for both myself and others, and I am not going to lower the bar for anyone. I especially stand by the principles of fairness and equality. No-one should be able to gain an unfair advantage. If they want anything, they should work to deserve it fair and square like everyone else, not leech off other people's efforts.

In addition, the majority of professionals I know would simply laugh and boot her from their offices, as they should. Because, no offense, a genuine mental disorder is not the same as just plain laziness, and an official diagnosis is never given out lightly, as we don't want to encourage frivolous claims of mental health issues as an excuse to get out of fulfilling one's societal obligations. A bit of hard work now and then doesn't hurt anyone, and in fact helps build maturity and resilience.

So there is nothing wrong with Kat, she just doesn't want to apply herself. And that is something only she can change - not me or any mental health professional.

@Katharina Schulz My advice to you is to be careful, make sure you let your family know what you are doing.

@Max Schulz It's ok, I'm sure deep down she does appreciate what you have done even if it doesn't show. The thing is I'm not sure if you are aware of what is happening inside her head and she probably needs someone to have a look. Don't get me wrong people should be held to a standard and fulfil their potential and yes really it is the individual at the end who can really improve themselves. But that doesn't mean you should le her struggle, perhaps give words of encouragement. Even if it starts on something small such as her making everyone a cup of tea or washing up or even cleaning her room. It does look like you are putting her down a lot, you probably do mean that from a good place to motivate her.

@Anastasija Kladnov:
She certainly seems fine to me. Someone who is depressed wouldn't be proudly gloating on WhoTube about how she failed school, or constantly chatting and gossiping with her friends on the phone, both of which Kat always does with glee. In my non-professional opinion, those are not the signs of a mental disorder, but of a spoiled entitled princess in much need of a reality check. And again, I'd be hard-pressed to find any professional therapists willing to give her the time of day. They'd all say the exact same thing: that this is not something they can help with because it is not a mental health issue.

@Prince Starnalf Karlolov:
I agree whole-heartedly. In many cases when someone is diagnosed with a "disability" like ADHD there is in fact nothing wrong with them, it's just a lack of proper or adequate discipline. When I went to primary and high school, it was still legal for teachers to use the cane, and if you couldn't sit still in class you'd certainly get a hit with it. My generation was the last to get that punishment - when Kat was born in 2006, two years after me, corporal punishment was banned but only for those born in that year or later. You can tell who was born before or after: the later generations (my sister included) just don't have the same sense of responsibility and respect that we did. I predict this is going to be a problem further down the road, when all the competent leaders eventually retire and those kids will be in charge.

Oh, nothing to worry about! I won't be going anywhere actually, it's fully remote. And because I make WhoTube videos in my own time, I already have everything I need (microphones, recording software) at home. I think it's going to be fun!

@Hannah Lee

Things are well thanks it's nothing we can't handle and cleanup finished just in time for a few of my friends to celebrate their coming of age as adults. I'm technically old enough to qualify for that too but I'm not so ready to be deemed an adult just yet.

@Nadeshiko Minase I see. That’s good. I myself am about to turn into an adult at 16. I’ll be running my mother’s flower shop here soon.

@Hannah Lee

That sounds so nice to be running a flower shop! I work at a little village restaurant ran by a very nice older couple. You say you'll be running it soon which sounds nice and exciting. I don't know much about Phibeta so does that mean like us some of you are considered adults?

@Nadeshiko Minase Sounds fun. It is exciting! And yes, here in Phibeta, once you turn 16, you are legally an adult. Back in the 19th century, it was if one turned 14, they were considered an adult, which came about when child labor laws were first introduced, including voting age and youth parliament. Since the 1960s though, the age has gone up.

That's the same here too on most islands! Corona though, (the C in our name by the way) it's 13. But today now it's after the family as a whole agrees. So that's why I'm not yet a true adult yet. I feel mature but ready for adulthood? Nooo XD But soon enough I will be. I don't know if you get our news where you're at but I think the paper will be doing a story about it. One of those culture interest stories.

@Nadeshiko Minase I see, a familial thing is it? Well, we do get a few AHSCAian papers here. The newsstand in my town has a plethora of regional and international newspapers, though the most prominent is our very own Weston Mail. I always look forward to international press releases though. I am currently on an international kick for a while.

Aryana Zahir Kabul, Dayganistan
Eid al-Fitr celebrations will begin in Dayganistan tonight, the night of May 1st, at sunset. I hope both the people of my nation, and Muslims around the world, will have a wonderful celebration that brings joy and hope in a world that feels increasingly lacking in both. This has been an incredibly special time of year in Dayganistan as we have seen our Christian community and Muslim community both celebrate holy days within a short period, something which does not happen every year, and I hope it has brought us closer together as a nation no matter how much we may differ in religion. We have a lot to be proud of as a nation and I hope we can see that pride continue among ALL who live here regardless of your religion or the language you speak at home. In a world more divided than ever, it is my wish on this holy day that we remain united as a nation.

I will be making the presidential Eid address to the nation later this evening which will be televised, broadcast on radio, and streamed online which will likely repeat many of the same points

I've had a lore retcon in terms of national leadership and any previous posts involving President Zahir and/or her family are no longer canon. She has been retconned to be early 30s, unmarried, and with no children.
