@Francisco Escudeiro And @Bishop Katsuyori has said more-or-less the exact same thing in favour of his position. The fact of the matter is that neither of you are capable of actually providing any physical evidence for the validity of your respective positions, and subsequently your arguments are pretty much completely pointless. You're not going to bring him around to your peculiar brand of traditionalist Catholicism, and he's not going to convince you to adhere to what to me looks like some sort of charismatic Protestantism. You can rant at each other about how they'll burn in hell for all eternity for their heresy, but it won't make any difference.

Fr. (CDR) Tecumseh C. Piañar Bacolod, NG

The Gospel reading for today, the Feast of the Holy Family, is Lk 2:41-52, the episode on The Boy Jesus in the Temple. In the Extraordinary Form, this is the Sunday in the Octave of the Nativity; the Gospel reading is Lk 2:33-40.

In the current General Roman Calendar, the Feast falls on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year; when both are Sundays, as will the case be for 2022, La Sagrada Familia--The Christ Child, the Blessed Virgin, and St. Joseph--falls on December 30th. Prior to this, the Feast fell on the Sunday after Epiphany. The Holy Family as a subject became popular in art from the 1490s, but it was not until 1921 that a feast in their honor was formally observed across Catholic Christendom.

¡Feliz Navidad, y Prospero Año Nuevo!

Always funny seeing false christians, be it so called "progressives" who have sold themselves out to degenerate liberal democracies and rule by masses trying to corrupt the Holiness of Christmas with pagan and consumerist customs. No such thing will exist in Aureumterra no matter how much the degenerate world order tries.

@Guided Missile Maiden Ooh, nice! As for myself, I'm not looking for anybody at the moment (although, that may change if I eventually meet my "special someone"), nor do I plan to have any kids. Because then I'd have to give up my job, which I really enjoy doing, to be a stay-at-home housewife—even a government minister like me. No thanks! :D

@Bishop Katsuyori Huh? Was that comment supposed to be for somebody else?

REPLY

Francisco Escudeiro Holy Catholic State of Portugal

@Clara Österreich-Toskana You have no business lecturing a proper Christian like me, about a Christian holy day. We would not be having this conversation, if everyone could simply understand the true purpose of Christmas: a day to honor the birth of Christ, not to go on expensive shopping sprees. To put money and material possessions above one's faith to the Lord, is to worship Satan.

It is more appalling, that such is the behavior of someone, who claims to work as a medical doctor in a top hospital. Perhaps I should let your employer know, that one of their staff is a godless foul-mouthed punk with no class or morality.

@Bishop Katsuyori I assume your post was intended for me. Are you calling us pagans? I cannot speak for the heretics in Rome, but we absolutely do not worship the false Greco-Roman gods (Zeus/Jupiter, Hera/Juno, Aphrodite/Venus, Poseidon/Neptune, etc.), if that is what you are talking about. In fact, doing so is punishable by death. We worship the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and pray to the Virgin Mary and saints to receive God's help through them, but no, they are not worshipped as gods.

@David Price By that logic, thoughts and dreams also do not exist, simply because you cannot see them if you cut open a brain. The evidence for God's existence, is the fact that He speaks to people and performs miracles. And whenever a disaster or "accident" happens, from a spilled coffee to a shipwreck, or someone starts acting abnormally all of a sudden, you know it is the work of Satan and his demons.

Merry Belated Christmas guys, what did you guys do this Christmas?

I went to Sab's house to drop off some gifts and also had a small party with @Greener Beaner and her friend, Raphaelle in our apartment.

REPLY

Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Oh yeah after our little party, I went to Raphaelle's house and it was basically, me, her, and her girlfriend doing karaoke night and we were basically doing gang choruses.

REPLY

Gang Chorus = When a group of friends sing a certain part of a song together in a flashmob-esque fashion. What Alex (Greener Beaner) means when she, Raphaelle, and Raphaelle's girlfriend are doing gang choruses, is that they are singing certain parts of multiple songs together when in other parts of said songs, only one person is singing.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Sunshine Lavender:

I did absolutely nothing

Just kidding, I just walked around town because to be honest, I stopped celebrating Christmas the traditional way like 2 years ago. Now, I just celebrate it by walking around the lonely parts of town and greeting and chatting with the people there who might not have had any company on Christmas Eve.

REPLY

Mark, Painter Boy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Sunshine Lavender: I am a Sword Baptist which are basically Tokanic Christians and we celebrate the 12 days of Christmas BEFORE Christmas rather than most Christians who do it AFTER. So from the 13th to the 25th, I went to Church every single day of it.

My mom is quite religious so on the 24th at like 8 in the evening, I went to Church and then at around 9 PM I returned home to celebrate Christmas with my family. I then slept around 2 hours after midnight and then woke up just 4 hours later at 6 in the morning on the day itself because I had to go to a 7:30 service.

So in a nutshell, I went to Church on Christmas Eve as any Christian would do and then went home to have the Christmas Party and then went to Church like idk 5 hours after the party ended.

REPLY

Jake, Tetris Guy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Sunshine Lavender: Had a party with my family of course and uh if you know anything about how a lot of Estiman families like to celebrate a typical family gathering, all members basically have dinner and then chat for a bit and then for the rest of the gathering, the kids are on their gadgets either gaming or watching YouTube while the grown ups go continue the chat they had during dinner WHILE still sitting on the dinner table and most likely still eating dinner.

Of course being 15 and therefore in the former group, I just walked back to my computer and played Tetris Extreme, which is basically Rare Tree's rendition of the classic game but it's fast-paced and electronic music is playing in the background, there are levels made by the company that are in the base game but most players download levels from other players (I personally like the Caramelldansen and Nyan Cat levels that a kid at my school made)

Oh yeah Tetris Extreme is where I get the Tetris in my username, it's my favorite game

REPLY

Reese, Hacker Man Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Sunshine Lavender: Well tbh, I did little to nothing. We did have the typical gathering yes, but I was very tired from studying (which I don't understand why I'm studying, it's Christmas Break) the days before so all I could do was eat, drink soda, maybe play games with my siblings, and then drink more soda, and then go to sleep.

I had the worst Christmas ever in my entire life and the suffering that I experienced was entirely self-inflicted

By the Gods, I need to enjoy life a little more.

Well good news is the day after (which is today) was absolutely fantastic for me, my family is all worn out and sleepy and tired from all the partying on Christmas and Christmas Eve so I got to hang out with my good pals, @Mark, Painter Boy, @Jake, Tetris Guy, and let's not forget @Epo. Gus McFarland. Absolutely wonderful

REPLY

Epo. Gus McFarland Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Sunshine Lavender: My mother got me and my twin brother, Felix, a copy of Monopoly and we just spent the entire time playing a game of it from midnight until I slept

Before that, my father decided that it would be great if me, him, and Felix went on a Facetime call with my relatives who are still in Crabaiaia. Christmas is the only time this year since I've moved in with my family here in Cavirfi where we talked to our relatives on the other side of the sea and it filled me with tears of joy to get to talk with them, especially since I am in good terms with many of my cousins there and they are still in Crabaiaia and it really saddened me when I had to leave (Father said it was for our own good). So I'm happy to talk to them again even if it's through Facetime.

@Reese, Hacker Man: Don't worry, I don't play video games because I feel that it is a distraction away from my religious duties, while I don't play most board games for the same reason, so for me to be playing Monopoly with my brother is one of the few times that I'm playing some form of a game.

So how about we make a truce, a truce to maybe enjoy playing games for this week, huh?

Speaking of New Year's, how about you spend the time you wasted on Christmas to enjoy that?

Let us then ever flee this monster: various and manifold it is, and everywhere sheds its peculiar venom, in wealth, in luxury, in beauty of person. Through this we everywhere go beyond needful use; through this arises extravagance in garments, and a great swarm of domestics; through this the needful use is every where despised, in our houses, our garments, our table; and extravagance prevails. Wilt thou enjoy glory? Do alms-deeds, then shall Angels praise thee, then shall God receive thee. Now the admiration goes no farther than the goldsmiths and weavers, and thou departest without a crown, often seeing that thou receivest curses. But if thou put not these things about thy body, but expend them in feeding the poor, great will be the applause from all sides, great the praise. Then shall thou have them, when thou givest them to others; when thou keepest them to thyself, then thou hast them not.
- Excerpt from St. John Chrysostom's Sixty-Ninth Homily on the Gospel of John

The Gospel reading for today, the Feast of St. John the Apostle and Exavegelist, is Jn 20:1a, 2-8, which is part of the episode on The Empty Tomb. In the preconciliar form, this is a Class II Feast Day; the Gospel reading is Jn 21:19-24.
Of the Apostles, only John lived to the ripe old age of roughly 93-94 years, dying in AD 100; his brother, James the Great (feast day: July 25th) died a martyr in AD 44, a martyrdom recorded in the Acts of the Apostles (12:1-2). John's tomb is located in Ephesus, a part of what is now Selçuk in Turkey.

The aftermath of super typhoon Rai has left much in need of rebuilding, much in need of cleaning. The fact that we are not alone in standing together means that we will overcome with the aid of the Christ Child.

We are currently at 74.5 million vaccinated under the National Vaccination Drive Against COVID-19.

Booster shots are available for people who have been fully vaccinated. The Directorate for Disease Control, in response to the threat of new variants, recommends that boosters be administered three months after the second dose of a two-shot vaccine and two months after a single-shot vaccine. Prior to this, the original recommendation for boosters was six months after the second dose of a two-shot vaccine and three months after a single-shot vaccine.

It is important to ensure that even as we keep ourselves and our loved ones safe from the aftermath of natural disasters such as super typhoon Rai, we maintain the measures taken to keep COVID-19 out of the Confederation.

For more information on how COVID-19 paid a visit to the Confederation, you may visit health-interior.gov.cv/2019nCoV (health-interior.gov.cv/2019nCoV-es for Spanish and health-interior.gov.cv/2019nCoV-zh for Mandarin).

Christmas is also accompanied, whether we like it or not, by tears. The Evangelists did not disguise reality to make it more credible or attractive. They did not indulge in words that were comforting but unrelated to reality. For them, Christmas was not a flight to fantasy, a way of hiding from the challenges and injustices of their day. On the contrary, they relate the birth of the Son of God as an event fraught with tragedy and grief. Quoting the prophet Jeremiah, Matthew presents it in the bluntest of terms: "A voice is heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children" (2:18). It is the sobbing of mothers bewailing the death of their children in the face of Herod’s tyranny and unbridled thirst for power.
- Excerpt from Pope Francis' 2016 letter to the Bishops on the Feast of the Holy Innocents

The Gospel reading for today, the Feast of The Holy Innocents, is Mt 2:13-18, which depicts the Holy Family's Flight to Egypt and the subsequent Massacre of the Innocents. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is a Class II Feast Day; the Gospel reading is the same in both forms.
In Spain and the former Spanish possessions (among them the Confederation as part of the antebellum Philippines), December 28th (Los Niños Inocentes) is a day of pranks, analogous to April 1st. This is a far cry from what the incident commemorates: twenty or so infant boys--given the sparse population of Bethlehem, these numbers are the most historically accurate--who by their blood became witnesses of the Infant Jesus to an unwilling world.

Hello everyone! Merry late Christmas or I guess happy early New Years to you all. I am currently suffering from terminal boredom and decided I might as well hop on somewhere new (even though I am a bit late). I thought being in the medical corps would lead me to traveling all over, encountering new situations and helping those in need. Instead I’m just kind of stuck in a small clinic in a suburb of Ji’myeon looking at fields all day.

Do you not know that the largest trees, which have required years to grow, are cut down in one hour? It is foolish to look for their fruits and yet to be unprepared for their fall. Let it be your consolation, then, that God's enemies, however honorable and exalted they may have been, shall nevertheless fade away like the smoke.
- St. Thomas a Becket

The Gospel reading for today, the Optional Memorial of St. Thomas Becket, is Mt 16:24-27, part of The Conditions of Discipleship. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is a Class II Feast Day within the Octave of Christmas; the Gospel reading for the Octave Days is Lk 2:15-20.
"What miserable drones and traitors have I nourished and brought up in my household, who let their lord be treated with such shameful contempt by a low-born cleric?" The quote from Henry II of England recorded by Edward Grim, who was present at Becket's murder, is often rendered as "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" Four knights, taking his wish for a command, went to Canterbury from Normandy to kill Becket, who died standing for Church independence from the State.

@Anastasija Kladnov I’ve been in the service for around 2 years now and have been stationed out here in Kin’Kai for 6 months. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy my time here at the clinic, it’s a gorgeous new facility with all the latest equipment it just gets a tad bit boring at times.

@Prince Starnalf Karlolov Yeah I’m definitely one of the lucky ones, one of my superiors was operating along side the Marines a couple years back down in Ssiuria and some of the stories he has from being on the frontlines are horrifying.
