Rev. Fr. Isidro Satou III, CSsR Cebu City, DH

Go to Joseph! Have recourse with special confidence to St. Joseph, for his protection is most powerful, as he is the patron of the universal Church.
- Bl. Pius IX

The Gospel reading for tomorrow, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, is Mt 1:16,18-21,24a, which begins excerpts from The Birth of Jesus with a verse from The Genealogy of Jesus. In the preconciliar form of the Mass, this is a Class I feast day; the Gospel reading for is Mt 1:18-21.
St. Joseph is the Husband of Mary, the Foster Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Patron Saint of the Universal Church. In his humility he raised the Christ Child, bringing Him up until he passed on. Such was the humility he embraced in this task that in the words of St. Paul VI (feast day: May 29th), "This is the secret of Saint Joseph's greatness, which is well in accord with his humility: having made his life a service, a sacrifice, to the mystery of the Incarnation and to the redemptive mission that is joined to it; having used the legal authority, which belonged to him over the holy family, to make it a total gift of himself, of his life, of his work; having converted his human vocation to domestic love into the superhuman oblation of himself, of his heart and of every capacity, in the love placed at the service of the Messiah germinated in his house, his nominal son and son of David, but in reality, son of Mary and son of God."

¡Viva Señor San Jose!

In the Ordinary Form, the Gospel reading for today, Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion, is Mk 14:1-15:47, which depicts The Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Mark. In the Extraordinary Form, the Gospel reading is Mt 26:36-27:66.

The reason the Sunday before Easter is called "Palm Sunday" is because palm branches were scattered in front of Christ as He made His way into Jerusalem; one may use Mk 11:1-10 (Mt 21:1-9 in the Extraordinary Form) as the Gospel passage recited during the procession with palms--a procession that will be limited in size later today for obvious reasons. Other branches are used in places that do not support the growth of palms, but the symbolism remains nonetheless.

The nation without Faith goose steps to Hell like good sons of Hitler and Stalin.
The nation that holds Authority in disdain dooms itself to the chaos of anarchy.
The nation which loses Community eventually falls apart.

New Luzon embraces Faith in a world quick to reject it, Authority in defiance to the malcontent, and Community against all who seek its demise.

Oh my stars, I just heard the most awesomest news that my favorite fantasy is gettin' the start studded movie treatment now. Tales of The Elfenryden Kingdom by Sorisana Valbalar which are a delightful series of ongoing fantasy novels. I don't know if they've made waves around the world but they are so popular here in Abetton. Unless you ask the olds who like to hold up their noses and say "Pah poppycock." Nothing wrong with the finer arts of Abetton, it's a part of our grand culture and tradition but c'mon folks, let's embrace some new artists instead of thinking we peaked in the late 19th and early 20th century. Abetton is rich with culture and entertainment, even if it doesn't always involve water colored landscapes or wordy literature. Christus resurrexit sicut dixit, Alleluia, Alleluia!

The Gospel reading for today, Easter Sunday, is Jn 20:1-9, where Mary Magdalene informs Simon Peter and the "other disciple whom Jesus loved" (traditionally identified as St. John the Apostle) of the absence of Jesus' Corpse in His Tomb. In the Extraordinary Form, the reading is Mk 6:1-7.

Easter is a time where we commemorate the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who by willingly accepting His Passion and Death made open the way of Salvation to all of humanity. Indeed, He is the Resurrection and the Life.

In last night's ceremony, when the first light appeared, We turned to it, acclaiming once, twice and thrice: lumen Christi — Deo gratias. A few weeks before the death of Jesus, this same light of his had appeared on Tabor during the conversation of the Divine Rabbi with Moses and Elijah, so vivid and joyful that it made Peter exclaim: Oh! how beautiful and joyful it is to live up here.
- St. John XXIII, Urbi et Orbi message for Easter, April 2nd, 1961

Christ has risen as He said, Alleluia, Alleluia!

We commemorate the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, where He overcomes Death and rises again. Just as Our Lord died and rose again, we should die to our old selves and rise to a new life with Him.

The War has seen changes in Visayan civil society that were previously held to be unthinkable. Among them is the deferral of the 2024 Federal Elections; the Visayan Elections Commission has ruled that current circumstances have seen the Federal Elections deferred to the nearest election year. Depending on the course of the War, this can be as early as 2026. Consequently, the positions that would be up for election, among them the Presidency, will see their terms extended; the Commission voted 3-2 to rule that this extension will not prejudice the occupants with respect to eligibility for reelection. The Supreme Court is expected to make a final decision on the matter by month's end.

The Gospel reading for the Second Sunday of Easter, also known as Divine Mercy Sunday, is Jn 20:19-31 for both Forms of the Roman Rite; here Jesus appears to the Apostles, first without Thomas, and then with him. The Gospel reading--not to mention the chapter--ends with one of several scriptural refutations of Sola Scriptura in verses 30-31; this refutation is echoed in Jn 21:25, the last verse of the Gospel according to St. John.

St. Thomas's response to seeing the Risen Christ and touching Him ("My Lord and my God!" from verse 28 of the Gospel reading) is often echoed to this day during the Words of Institution; as the priest elevates the Host for veneration, missals going back to before the Second Vatican Council (the latest such edition dating back to 1962) explicitly suggest that the congregation say these words silently.

Rev. Fr. Isidro Satou III, CSsR Cebu City, DH

Indeed the message she brought is the appropriate and incisive answer that God wanted to offer to the questions and expectations of human beings in our time, marked by terrible tragedies. Jesus said to Sr Faustina one day: "Humanity will never find peace until it turns with trust to Divine Mercy" (Diary, p. 132). Divine Mercy! This is the Easter gift that the Church receives from the risen Christ and offers to humanity at the dawn of the third millennium.
- Excerpt from the homily of St. John Paul II for Divine Mercy Sunday, April 22nd, 2001

The Second Sunday of Easter concludes the Octave of Easter, which is treated as a single Solemnity in the General Roman Calendar. The Church celebrates this as Divine Mercy Sunday, originally based on the devotion to the Divine Mercy St. Faustina Kowalska (feast day: October 5th) reported as part of her encounter with Jesus; the Gospel reading in both forms is Jn 20:19-31.
The devotion to the Divine Mercy was actively promoted by St. John Paul II (feast day: October 22nd), who canonized St. Faustina in 2000, during his pontificate. Such was the significance of the Divine Mercy in his life that his death fell on the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday (April 2nd, 2005), while his beatification (May 1st, 2011) and canonization (April 27th, 2014, with St. John XXIII [feast day, October 11th]) fell on Divine Mercy Sunday.

The Gospel reading for the Third Sunday of Easter, also known in the Extraordinary Form as the Second Sunday after Easter, Good Shepherd Sunday, is Lk 24:35-48, which follows the Risen Christ's appearance in Jerusalem. In the Extraordinary Form, the Gospel reading is Jn 10:11-16, part of the Good Shepherd discourse.

May the Risen Christ bring us to everlasting peace.

The Gospel reading for the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also known in the Ordinary Form as Good Shepherd Sunday, is Jn 10:11-18, part of the Good Shepherd discourse. As mentioned in last week's Chaplain's Corner, this reading up to verse 16 is the Gospel reading for Good Shepherd Sunday under the Extraordinary Form. Here, Jesus describes what a Good Shepherd ought to be for His Flock: willing to go as far as laying down his life for his sheep, just as Our Lord did in the Crucifixion. Speaking of the Extraordinary Form, the Gospel reading in said form is Jn 16:16-22.

It is no surprise that Jesus used the image of a shepherd and his sheep in describing leadership to the people; sheep farming was an ideal occupation for the Jews in the Biblical era. To this day, sheep farming in modern-day Israel is among the most productive in the world. The intimate image of the Good Shepherd is a reflection of this: his sheep recognize his voice and follow him, as opposed to hired hands who only tend to the flock in pursuit of their own self-interests, abandoning them to the wolves in dire straits. Of course, it goes without saying that part of a shepherd's responsibilities involve driving the wolves away from his flock; one need only consider the iconic Machine Gun Monsignors, so named because in the 2003 Tagbilaran Riots, these priests went as far as to take up rifles and shotguns in order to repulse looters.

OOC: Hey guys, I would like to announce that after the events of Pelicula Barbara (the Barbie movie) 9 months ago. I have decided to nerf the following characters from PruCh.net: Fretz Mallsky and Maria Fretsburg are fully nerfed from active characters on PruCh.net, they will no longer be making posts here.

Mark, Alex (Greener Beaner), Raphaelle, and Ellen are partially nerfed. They will be making posts at a less frequent rate than non-nerfed characters.

Nerf doesn't mean death in this context, I just mean they are no longer active. This post will explain why.

Jonska, Julie, Reese, Jake, Gus, Sunny, and Sab are the last fully active users on this platform from my account (though Julie will go inactive starting 21 May), they will be the ones talking here (plus Alex).

Everything in here is fiction, it reflects the politics of my universe. It has some references to real events but this doesn't reflect my opinions.

July 22 = The 22 July Movement was a wave of unrest that erupted across the NiceGuy world between 22 July and 19 September 2023 over the continuation of the 13-year (now 14-year) long authoritarian apartheid policies of the Commonwealth of Australia against the NiceGuy people that led to a total boycott of Australia by NiceGuy nationalist groups as well as a boycott of sponsors up to the third degree (so companies that support companies that support companies that support Australia) over the continuation of apartheid. The unrest in Cavirfi was led by Mark who faced legal prosecution (but was ultimately acquitted) by the Cavirfite authorities for challenging Cavirfi's policy of strategic patience against Australia.

Note, this does not reflect real world dynamics, Australia is not an apartheid state but for the sake of the lore, it is.

Jake got like 10 pizza boxes (no Pineapple ones thank goodness) and I ate 8 slices, I think 3 of them were cheese and the other 5 were barbecue sauce ones. I watched some movies with his family while the birthday dude himself was gaming upstairs, classic Estiman birthday party setup. It was fun, I played Monopoly with Jake's siblings and Jake's Dad gave me a non-alcoholic toast to wish me good luck as I'm about to go the Army.

@Jonska Fretsburg: I really don't understand why he keeps engaging in this boycott. He's boycotting literally everything from Krispy Kreme donuts (which don't even exist in Cavirfi) to Microsoft to Moon toothpaste, the only things he buy are shit I've never heard of from some guy with a rundown convenience store in the middle from the South side of town who overprices his shit because he knows Mark will buy all of them just to support the "victims of apartheid".

Like bro, no one except you and your guys and that Tessa girl thinks about the Barbie movie so much. Not even the movie's haters in the West remember it, move on.

Tessa girl = Tessa Van Rooyen is basically Mark's best friend in the boycott. She is an Afrikaner whose family had connections to the anti-apartheid resistance during South African apartheid and as such Mark kinda views her as his mentor.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Reese, Hacker Man: Well, it's his money his choice but yeah I find it extremely absurd how he would boycott companies that are so disconnected to Australia simply because six companies down their line support Australia. Like, bro, it's good that you're buying Batangueno coffee from Filipino farmers but damn bro, if the Barbie movie not being released would've prevented you from buying that coffee in an alternate timeline then you need to reassess why you're buying the things you buy.

@Jonska Fretsburg: I'm not into politics bro, like wth is Mark even against the Barbie movie for like I watched it with Reese and Gus and had a good time. Why is he boycotting so many companies and what's his aim?

REPLY

Epo. Gus McFarland Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: If it happens that my knowledge is accurate. The film known popularly as Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig and premiered in 2023 has Margot Robbie as the main Barbie. Miss Robbie is a citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia or was rather but important thing is she still possesses some ties of a cultural nature to it. Mark here finds this problematic as he believes Australia is committing the crime of apartheid against the NiceGuy people and he holds the worldview that the geopolitical phenomenon of soft power and attempts to reduce soft power (by boycotting Australian art and art with even a miniscule degree of Australian involvement) in order to geopolitically isolate the "apartheid regime" in Australia and forcefully end such a system are necessary measures.

Mark uses the phrase "total" to refer to his boycott because he's not only boycotting the film (and the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup which was co-hosted by the Commonwealth of Australia) but he's also boycotting the brands that sponsored the film and the sports tournament as well as he deems "all collaborators" to these companies, which he essentially means companies that support the companies sponsoring these events up to the 5th degree (so companies that support companies that support companies that support companies that support companies that sponsored these events)

REPLY

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Jake, Tetris Guy: Mark and his guys also have been screaming "Long Live Southeast Asia" in Estiman because Australia is doing some shady shit in the region. Obviously, I don't support it but I find it silly how Mark and his guy are treating this boycott like a referendum over whether Filipinos and Thais can have their own countries intact when I bet no one in Manila or Bangkok is oh so worried about Australia meddling slightly in their internal politics.

Now, if you guys are curious where my friends are. Fretz and Maria are fine but they deleted their accounts cus of the whole boycott thing (Maria watched the movie, Fretz boycotted it) and Ellen has decided to take a hiatus from the rest of the internet to work on setting up a podcast with a friend of hers, they have yet to release their first episode.

REPLY

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi

If you guys are wondering, Mark himself is fine physically but mentally he's actually losing it. He moved out from his family just 3 days after turning 18 (he didn't even wait until graduating High School) and it's because his family became so dysfunctional after the movie as his mum enjoyed it and told him to stop boycotting the sponsors that he broke down crying from the ensuing argument.

I came to check on him at his apartment after Jake's birthday party and man. His door reads "This apartment is an apartheid-free zone" in Tokan and his room is just filled with portraits of Nelson Mandela and F. W. De Klerk shaking hands as well as a gallery of anti-apartheid flags. He wasn't mad at me but I could tell he was gonna go on a severe outrage if I messed any of the stuff in his apartment. I love him as a friend and all but can we all agree that this is weird?

Like oh my goodness, apartheid bad but holy moly this is just another level.

Bro cannot even get his shit together to shut off his PC when he's done, like I remember playing Roblox and I just saw his Discord activity and it said that he was playing Krita (the drawing software) for 6 days straight (like obviously he can't do that physically but just the fact that I know he didn't turn his PC off bothers me).

You don't pressure Julie to make videos with you on her Christian fasting days, there's a reason you guys only post videos of the whole gang on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Just give Mark the same kind of leniency as Julie, okay? It's not that hard.

@Mark, Painter Boy: Mark, there is no such thing as ethical consumption in the international economy. Everything we do with our coin will enable some atrocity somewhere, it is an unfortunate reality but living our lives does not make us terrible beings so long as we make sure to condemn the atrocities our coin is funding.

Mark, Painter Boy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Epo. Gus McFarland: Wow, what the hell happened to the lesser of two evils? Yeah, I know what I'm buying might also enable some bad things somewhere else. But I bet that what I buy only enables some local politician somewhere to keep taking small bribes from his people without punishment, the shit you guys bought literally enabled segregation not seen since 1994 and a regional political crisis that threatens the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Mark, Painter Boy: Stop it, just stop it! It's okay to do what you're doing. I understand you have good intentions but holy hell man, would it matter if the NiceGuy world boycotted the movie and the World Cup? The rest of the world would have just filled in the financial gaps.

Also, the financial and cultural benefits that the Barbie movie brought to Australia were overblown given that the publishers are both Crabaiaian organisations funded by the Lambda League and you know that the Lambda League has some electoral promises to start a new cold war with the West in the leadup to 2024 which they are practically guaranteed to win with a supermajority in Parliament leaving no one to stop them.

Renewed calculations from NiceGuy Watch (who originally agreed with the overblown calculations) from December 2023 indicate that the actual benefit to Australia is like 90% lower than what was originally calculated. If anything, the benefits to Australia may have been outweighed by the costs especially considering the PR crisis that you guys decided to initiate.

As for the World Cup, Australia only made like 330 million AUD from that one, that is literally peanuts to them, they won't probably even spend the money on their apartheid stuff given there are diplomatic issues with China that the Australian Defence Force probably needs extra funding to prepare for.

Mark, Painter Boy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@Jonska Fretsburg: >If anything, the benefits to Australia may have been outweighed by the costs especially considering the PR crisis that you guys decided to initiate.

Wow, how could you miss your own point. Our boycotts did do something, just not financially. I mean look at Black Flag, they literally did well in district ward elections and our doing well in their constitutencies. We created PR nightmares for every organisation that supports the apartheid regime in Australia; the Laker City and Capital Council Police, the Filipino and Thai governments, and the companies that sponsored these events now have to spend months if not years to repair their PR in Crabaiaia because they make the most money there.

REPLY

Black Flag = A Filipino nationalist, anti-Western, social democratic political party that supports moving the Philippines closer diplomatically to Crabaiaia to solve the South China Sea crisis.

District Ward Elections = In this alternate timeline, Black Flag won Metro Manila's most neglected barangays in the 2023 Barangay Elections and even won partial control of barangays around Olangopo and Angeles.

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@Mark, Painter Boy: I'm not saying your boycott did not do shit, it certainly did upend NiceGuy politics as we know it. But, the extreme lengths you will take to make sure not a single penny of yours touches Australian soil is very obssesive man. Don't you think that the degree which you take the boycott is too extreme?

REPLY

Mark, Painter Boy Barnumberg, Cavirfi

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

So I went to the grocery store to do my usual food run and I haven't seen Raphaelle in her usual counter even though I have never seen her absent from work.

@Sunshine Lavender: Lemme guess, you finalized the deal with her and she's working for you now?

REPLY

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Actually we finalized the deal like just over 2 weeks ago but yeah, she got her last paycheck with the grocery store and she's now officially resigned from that job.

She'll be working for me now, at way better pay than what the grocery store has to offer, that's why she took the offer.

REPLY

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Yeah bro 5400 bucks per video is insane, man. Honestly, good for her, her art as it is now is worthy of such pay and I'm glad she gets to put it to good use.

REPLY

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: There were other reasons I offered her the job. I was getting a bit annoyed at the fact that her job takes away from freetime she could spend on improving herself and time she could spend with Alex. Which, you know, it sucks when a job takes away time from your relationship with your significant other, so ofc I just had to make that offer. She was working like 6 days a week man and Alex is usually busy on Sundays so I had to find a way to give her freetime.

Though if you look at it from an hourly perspective, her job with me is 40 hours a week but that's over 4 days rather than the 36 hours she had spread through 6 days at her previous job. So, you know, it's still a positive.

We'll both be working together during those 4 days, so I will be ridiculously tired :p

REPLY

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Hey man, if you're still working that job at the toy workshop. For your own health, I suggest you quit that one too. 16 hours working is not good for you.

REPLY

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Yeah, I will. I simply can't find a way to fit that job with the one I have for Raphaelle. I will be sending a resignation letter at the end of the month so I can quit right around mid-May.

Though, you do spend 19 hours a day on both your channel and modding my server and modding my server is like an unpaid job so xD

REPLY

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: I mean your job at the toy workshop pays peanuts compared to the shit you're making animation memes and speedpaints for a bunch of random strangers in random parts of the world, so having that job was always a bit redundant.

Also lol, you got me there, though I wouldn't necessarily call being a mod on your server a job given that I spend more time browsing a bunch of other tabs I have open than actually modding the server. I will delete an occassional obvious bad faith message but that's pretty much it. The time I spend volunteering cooking food for the Eastside soup kitchen is more of a job for me than telling someone who is making fun of other people online to shut up.

REPLY

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: I mainly stayed at my job to gain experience because the animation jobs I want to take require me to have some level of experience in a job relating to art (whether it be woodworking, painting, video editing, etc.). However, I've had the job at the toy workshop for over 5 years now and most animation studios only require I have at least 3 years of job experience in the art sector. So, yeah, no reason to stay anymore, so I'm gonna quit.

I mean I appreciate the fact that you volunteer at a soup kitchen but tbh you only volunteer like once every two weeks so while it's good that you volunteer, I don't want to compare your volunteer work at the soup kitchen to modding my server which is something you're more likely to do daily. Not that I want you to volunteer daily, I don't care for as long as you're doing it, but yeah I don't have anything else that you do daily that I can compare to you modding my server

REPLY

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Fair enough with that experience bit. Now, for the volunteer thing, I only do it once every two weeks because my friends give it out more food than the soup kitchen needs every day outside of the occassional second and fourth Saturday of the month which I then fill the two gaps for. So yeah, don't wanna fill the soup kitchen with too much food that might spoil after a few days so I don't volunteer every day.

REPLY

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia (EDITED)

@Jonska Fretsburg: Yeah I did the food run partly for me and my Mom's weekly groceries but also for the soup kitchen. I spent all afternoon cooking chicken pilaf Uzbek-style and then went to the soup kitchen around 6 in the evening but I had to leave around 7 because my Mom wanted me to cook dinner. So, I went home and then cooked a filet mignon for dinner, served it up with potatoes and some rice.

REPLY

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Damn, a filet mignon, bro I would feel fancy after that (even if it's supposed to be a canvas meat for a much larger dish not standalone steak). That shit must be expensive, man.

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Jonska Fretsburg: No, you just live in Cavirfi. The country where one mid-tier 18" plain cheese and tomato sauce pizza is 50 bucks, at least that's what Bob told me.

Okay, the steak was expensive, it was 250 bucks a kilo but hey, that's a good deal by Crabaiaian standards alright? Ribeyes are like 500 bucks a kilo. A5 Wagyu is like 4000 bucks.

REPLY

Jonska Fretsburg Barnumberg, Cavirfi

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: No, not the 50 buck pizza argument. Argh, you got me. Also, yeah I believe you when 250 bucks is good for filet mignon by Crabaiaian standards, you guys make a lot of money over there so that's peanuts by your standards. Meanwhile, Cavirfites on average can't even make more than 100 bucks a day of disposable income so 50 bucks really is a luxury unless you were rich before moving or got lucky making bank somewhere.

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

Chicken tendies are for Fridays, it's an unofficial rule I created for myself. All other days of the week are for hearty food like chicken soup, steak, goulash, pasta, etc.

Speaking of chicken tendies on Fridays, Raphaelle sent me a pic yesterday of her right hand grabbing a chicken tendy from a plate of chicken tendies and fries and man did it look delicious. I asked her where it was and she said it was Papa Plato's and I was like "oh man, I am not eating there, it's open air so the food will get cold quickly". Like, sorry, their food looks delicious and it probably is delicious but having an open air restaurant in a country with subzero average temperatures is like asking for your food to be served cold

CDR (Fr.) Tecumseh C. Piañar, VCN Bacolod, NG

The Gospel reading for the Fifth Sunday of Easter is Jn 15:1-8, part of the discourse known as The Vine and the Branches. Here Jesus refers to Himself as the Vine, with the Apostles (and, further down the line, the faithful) as the branches. In the Extraordinary Form, the reading for the Fourth Sunday after Easter is Jn 16:5-14.

With the worst of the War all but past, God willing we shall have peace once more.

OOC: Göræn syndrome is not a real disease, it only exists in my universe, don't look it up, you will not find any disease of that name.

Julie, Military Fangirl Barnumberg, Cavirfi (EDITED)

So, I was called to the Army's medical office near Fort Gutensland and they told me that if I wanted to officially begin my 1 year of Army service, I had to fill out a form regarding my medical condition. I was born with a very rare blood sugar related disease that is unofficially called Göræn syndrome (the official medical name I don't want to say because come on) which my grandfather on my Mum's side named because he was the first of two cases in the whole triworld of this disease. It's basically an inherited disease where your body is producing a normal amount of insulin by human medical standards but your body's tolerance for blood sugar is lower than most people so you actually need more insulin than the average human. It's pretty much like Type 1 Diabetes but the problem is that your body cannot accept that the normal blood sugar level is indeed considered normal for most people and so it wants a lower blood sugar than most other people rather than your body having blood sugar levels considered high for all humans.

The doctor doing my check-up told me that the Army will let me in if I can prove I didn't have ketoacidosis in the last 5 years. He told me this is the policy in place for Type 1 Diabetics wishing to serve any branch of the military except the Coast Guard (which I'm pretty sure accepts Type 1 Diabetics unconditionally as the Coast Guard is more for border patrol as we are an island instead of combat which they can engage in combat but only during wartime). I've never had ketoacidosis in my entire life, let alone in the last 5 years. In fact, I got pancreatic surgery in 2018 which forced my pancreas to produce more insulin than is normal for any human pancreas, I still need to take insulin but I only need to do it once every two to six months depending on blood sugar tests I do every month. I will staple the documents I have from my former state's Bureau of Health website about my ketoacidosis history (which the website says is blank) to my paperwork and then I'll have my Dad and the pharmacist who gives me my insulin sign the paperwork off to verify that yeah, I haven't had ketoacidosis over the last 5 years.

I'm 50/50 certain I will be put on the second or third best medical grade which you need to be the third best at minimum if you want to be deployed for combat and at least at the fourth best medical grade if you want to enlist at all. I really hope I get third at worst, I want to give the Army my best and it'd be disappointing for both sides if I turn out to not be medically fit for combat service.

@Julie, Military Fangirl: I hope you get in, it'd be a waste of your skills gained in training if your Göræn syndrome turns out to be worse for the Army than you thought.

@Jake, Tetris Guy: I really hope I get in. I owe it to the Army for saving me from the genocide back in '21 and I don't wanna disappoint them by not being able to serve because of some disease my granddad randomly developed that passed on to my Mum then to me.

@Raphaelle Cortez: I'm glad you made that reply on a Friday, which is the usual day for me to cook chicken tendies.

But still though, why do you eat chicken tendies from Papa Plato's, are they that good that they're worth eating cold?

REPLY

Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: My Dad actually worked for Papa Plato's, that was his first job there. In fact, him getting a job there was how we got our citizenship and how my family was able to move us from the Philippines to Crabaiaia when I was 2. Before he quit that job in 2008, my Mom would take me there and we would eat while we waited for him. After he quit, my family would still go there after I finished the school day because Papa Plato's is close to my parents' house (where I obviously used to live) so we would go there just because it was convenient.

Also you really underestimate how hot the food served at Papa Plato's is, they know that them being open air is like bad for the food given how cold this place is. So they'll serve it so hot that touching it freshly cooked is like touching the sun. I only start eating my food like after 2 minutes because the food is just that hot when it is served.

we got our citizenship = Crabaiaia does not permit work-to-residency visa programs as job security for newly-arrived migrants is not of a quality that could sustain such a visa given the types of companies that most work-to-residency visas in most countries require the migrant be hired by to get the visa are small to medium enterprises that could easily go bankrupt. As such, Crabaiaia offers immediate citizenship to migrants who got a job for any business headquartered and primarily operating in Crabaiaia provided they have the intent of living in the country. Raphaelle's family moved in 2005, under most countries' visa programs, they should've stayed in the country until between 2010 and 2015 to get citizenship. However, given that this is Crabaiaia, they got their citizenship immediately upon arrival. It is very difficult for a person seeking to migrate to Crabaiaia to find a job there, so the Crabaiaian Government decided not to make the immigration process much more of a hassle than it already is for immigrants so they instantly give them citizenship once they are hired by a Crabaiaian company meeting the immigration criteria and arrived in the country after being hired.

@Raphaelle Cortez: Makes sense and also I may have judged Papa Plato's too harshly, if the food is actually served as hot as the sun, as you say it is, I might as well try the food there.

REPLY

Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: You should try the food there, it is good.

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: I will.

Anyways, I bought too much chicken and I don't want to leave the excess chicken for Sunday's chicken noodle soup (as I generally prefer that there only be like 10 to 20 slices of chicken in a chicken noodle soup). So, I will be cooking more chicken tendies than me and my Mom are willing to eat. So I would like it if someone came over to eat chicken tendies with us.

So, Raphaelle, do you wanna come over?

@Sunshine Lavender: Hey, my love, do you wanna come over to my place to eat chicken tendies with me and my Mom?

Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: I would love to but I can't, cus I'm a bit busy today. Is it possible if I can come over like next Friday, because I'm planning to do another Draw-A-Thon after over a year of not hosting one and I would like to eat some chicken tendies before I do it.

REPLY

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: That's okay, do whatever it is you need to do. As for next Friday, hmmm yeah I will buy some extra chicken so that I have enough chicken tendies when you come over.

@Greener Beaner: Alex, how about you? Wanna eat chicken tendies with me and my Mom this week?

OOC: Turns out cutting the original post in half makes the post feel more realistic if you're roleplaying in real time.

Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia (EDITED)

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Bruh I'm vegan (I just don't like the taste of meat), I'm gonna have to say no for obvious reasons.

Hmmm who should I invite then?

Jonska Fretsburg Ostry, Cavirfi (EDITED)

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Please do not unironically invite me. Firstly, I am also vegan but this time for religious reasons (as a Buddhist, while meat isn't banned, I avoid it anyways to not disrespect the First Precept) and secondly, I am not going on a train for 1 hour from Ostry to Barnumberg then fly for 5 hours from Barnumberg to Laker City just so I can eat dinner that will probably go cold before I even get in the plane.

SABO, Student of the Cryptics Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Jonska Fretsburg: I was gonna invite you as a joke but then I realized that would actually be inconvenient for you if you did actually accept the invite. Oh well, guess I'm gonna have to invite Bob then. I'll DM him on Discord.

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: Yeah inviting your best friend who lives in another part of town to eat dinner with you makes way more sense than inviting another friend who lives in another country.

@Jonska Fretsburg: It does.

I mean you could be Belgian in that one town in Belgium that is surrounded by the Netherlands and your friend could be across the street but across the street is in the Netherlands.

@SABO, Student of the Cryptics: In that case, it does make sense to invite your friend from another country.

Elizabeth Marie Ahn Cebu City, DH

The Supreme Court has ruled 9-6 that the deferral of the 2024 Federal Elections to 2026 is not prejudicial to Constitutional mandates. With what would have been an election year marred by the Irredentist War, the majority opinion was that the safety of Visayan citizens and residents alike was of greater importance.

@Elizabeth_Marie_Ahn Good to see countries prioritize their citizens over traditional law, the progressivism of institutions is an important thing to keep eyes on.
