The Prime Minister looked over to her husband. “David, would you be up to dancing later?” He thought for a second. “Ah, sure. Of course we probably should for the couple and all”
Back with the couple, Alexandra still seemed to be nursing her plate. Jack had decided that while most of the guests monitored their portions better, he would stay with his wife and get seconds so that Alexandra wouldn’t feel any imagined pressure that he would be impatient with the fact that his beloved was taking her time. “You’ve never been able to keep up with me, but I’ve decided that I’ll try to pass you again on the second lap anyways”, he teased. His new plate was filled to the brim. Despite the slow or even tired nature of the rest of the guests, the strong, young Marshall acted unbothered by the amount he was eating, putting on an indifferent demeanor.

"I'll let you try" she replied smiling at him., she had brought the amount of food left on her plate to about a third of what it had been when they started the meal. Seeing her husband's new plate she remarked "Let's see if you can finish that before I finish this" she said pointing towards her plate with a fork.

“Oh-ho-ho! You’re challenging me?”, he laughed. “Ok, we’ll see if slow and steady really does win the race”, he said, smiling at the fun immaturity of this competitiveness. In the time he had known Alexandra, she had figured out how to push all of his buttons, and that he was certainly the competitive type.

"We'll see" she says grinning as she begins to eat again.

Unluckily for Alexandra, Jack was one of those people who, in part thanks to years of military training and sports, had an incredibly fast metabolism. The lean Corrish Marshall had it all: turkey, ham, chicken, lobster, mashed potatoes, squash, broccoli, carrots, corn, green beans, beets, salad and bread, not to mention about three glasses of wine. He noticed Alexandra, still at around her pace, trying to keep up with him and playfully teased her.

Alexandra laughed it off and continuing eating trying to finish before Jack.

Jack was able to keep going without any slowing down in sight, until he unexpectedly ground to a halt. To his own surprise, by the time he was about two thirds through his second plate, the aching feeling of eating far too much food seemed near. Just to his luck, Alexandra seemed to have noticed the rogue groaning sound of his complaining stomach. He glanced over at Alexandra. “Well, er.. how’re you doing Lexie?”

Alexandra looks up to Jack with about a fifth of her plate left. She hears his stomach's groan and says to him "I think the better question would be, how are you doing?" she sys looking down at his stomach over to his plate and back to his face.

His face went red with embarrassment. “Well... uh.. let’s just say that the Hare is feeling a little bit winded, and the Tortoise is probably going to pass him” He thought for a second, before realizing that he didn’t want either himself or Alexandra getting sick at their own wedding. At this point, he decided that it was time to concede to his wife. “Alright, alright, alright. I give up. You win, Lexie.”, he admitted with a little bit of a smile, patting a hand on her shoulder. “I’ll never finish this.”

"Slow and steady wins the race." she says jokingly "Don't defeat yourself Jack" she says patting him back "You beat me on the first run, but you shouldn't have tried for a second." she says beginning to laugh.

He laughed back. “Yeah, well you are the rational one in this marriage. Is there any chance you could have the rest of my plate? I wasn’t joking when I said I’ll never finish it.” He looked around the room. “If not I’m sure we’ll find something to do with it”

"We'll see" she says as she returns to eating her plate, she looks at Jack's plate "I don't what we should do with your plate, maybe ask around?"

James smiled as he began to explain some of the family history "Well, we're descended from the English who immigrated to Hopal in the late-1700s to early-1800s as merchants looking for business, though we do have some Native Hopalian heritage. Let me think, my great-grandfather served in WWII pledging his allegiance to Portugal, which ruled Hopal until 1945, he later would move to Portugal after the war. But his son my maternal grandfather would remain in Hopal he would serve as a scout in the military but would later become a park ranger. My father and his father worked as goldsmiths, though my father now works within the Ministry of Culture as Assoicate Director of Preservation. He plans to retire later this year or next year, he's received job offers from Hopton College to work as a professor of Culture or History. My sister Alexandra is a school teacher and is quite good with kids. I work in the military and was very quickly promoted to Vice Marshall and served as Commander of the Forces in Sharifistan after winning a medal in a previous war in Sharifistan. Overall I would like to think we're nice people, but people sometimes are scared of us because of their pre-conceived notion of a positions. But enough about us, what about your family?"

“Well, you and your family sound delightful. Your sister Alexandra must be a passionate teacher.”, Edmund said. “That’d explain why Jack offered to live in Hopal in case she didn’t want to leave.”, Margaret Wayne (Jack’s mum) said, to which Edmund noted “But there’d be no shortage of teaching jobs for Alexandra in Corrington, I can assure you!”, he said with a hint of Corrish pride. “But anyways, our family? Well, we are also a family of English heritage, long and directly descended from General Leopold Wayne of the Corrish Royal Army, a national hero of ours from the late 1700s. We’ve mainly been a military family, though we’ve had some of scientists, an explorer and some weak ties with the nobility. Though he has the last name ‘Wayne’, myself and Jack are self-made soldiers, that is to say: we didn’t rise to our ranks with any sort of chip on our shoulders. We too often suffer from people’s preconceived notions of us, but we’re really quite ordinary when you get to really know us, as you Lionels surely will as our in-laws.”

"It seems we have a lot in common, and I'm sure we'll get along quite well. But I'm not sure Alexandra has decided where she wants to teach, or if she wants to continue to teach at all. But I would think she would want to finish the school year in Hopal before moving. What I am quite sure of however is that Alexandra has chosen the right person, and along with it an excellent family."
