BIRAT CONFLICT ILLICIT MAJOR WARNINGS, SANCTIONS, AND BANS BY MOREAU ADMINISTRATION

Image
Violent clashes between federal and rebel forces in Birat has prompted the Zamastanian government on behalf of the Moreau Administration to sanction Birat's government, issue travel bans, and warn Estoca and Timeria of intervention.

TOFINO - President Moreau and Secretary of State Vallotis signed executive action declarations today that instituted crippling sanctions on the Birat government and the regime of President Alan Meidan, as well as issuing travel bans to and from Birat and strict warnings against international intervention that breaches sovereignty of Zamastanian allies and neutral states alike. President Moreau in a released statement said that "the Meidan regime is putting millions of lives in the region at risk by his violent actions and repression of civil liberties. Additionally, the governments of North Timeria and Estoca in their intervention are furthering deepening divides and aggression by breaching the trust of international communities in the conduct of total silence and discretion with military operations."

A major offensive on Sunday and Monday by the People's Democratic Army (PDA) rebel forces has resulted in major casualties and extensive fighting, with Birat sources claiming over 7,000 deaths nationwide. The Z.I.S. believes that the true number of casualties are not as high as domestic Birat sources are stating, due to the conflicting nature of reports, but they acknowlegde that the fighting is intense and has certainly resulted in over a thousand deaths. Fighting is exceptionally violent in the city of Alicent, as well as near the nation's largest airport, Alicent International (AIXX), where Timerian fighter jets have reportedly been stationed and have conducted aerial strikes from.

Zamastanian government sources have stated that there is a humanitarian crisis unfolding as regime and rebel forces alike are conducting operations in civilian areas. Several nations have committed to air dropping relief supplies, but the Zamastanian government has avoided doing so because of the volatile nature of the conflict. Additionally, the Z.I.S. and the Zamastanian Department of Defense have stated that the line of distinction between regime forces and rebels has been difficult to discern, which translates to the familiarity of the recently concluded military operations in West Chanchajilla.

The Meidan regime came to power in a coup in 2019, after which they implemented severe crackdowns on freedom of speech and civil liberties. They became posed internationally alongside such dictatorships as Martin Saint-Yves in Ossinia and Frederick Armbar in West Chanchajilla. In June of 2020, Saint-Yves was overthrown by Zamastanian forces. More recently in 2021, Frederick Armbar was overthrown by East Chanchajillan and Parabocan forces. The Z.I.S. believes that the most recent crackdowns by Meidan were in order to quell any resistance to his regime and to consolidate his power as totalitarians nearby were being deposed.

Meanwhile, Zamastan's legislature in Congressional Hall is debating any further actions. Timeria, a key Zamastanian ally in Adula, has put Zamastan in a difficult position with their encroachment of East Chanchajillan and Avergnonian territory in order to transport their military equipment into Birat. On top of that, Zamastanian politicians have expressed concern over the involvement of Estoca in the crisis, as only recently they had introduced new mediation with Estoca in a Jyau summit.

"Estoca has historically involved themselves in situations that are threatening to national security interests," said Speaker of the Chamber, Natasha Chastain. "Whether it's their action towards Paraboca, their assertiveness on the world stage, it presents an issue that Timeria is being allowed by their government to establish a dangerous precedent in Birat." Amidst the clashes, Birat federal forces accidentally crossed the East Chanchajillan border on Monday and engaged with Eastern forces, resulting in numerous injuries on the Eastern side. There are fears that the East Chanchajillan incident will spark even more international involvement, which Moreau and his cabinet are strongly advising against.

"Of course we plead for the end of the conflict in a diplomatic manner," Secretary Vallotis stated, "but we cannot continue to see international states bringing in military involvement to this situation. War breeds war, and we've seen that today. There has been no work toward negotiation so far, and that needs to be the priority. We emplore the governments of Estoca and Timeria to stand down and leave the situation in military terms. Continue humanitarian prospects, but do not inflame the violence."

Alecburgh crisis gives Moreau foreign policy headache

Image
A bombing on Monday in Dawea, Cyruda, committed by Cambrian terrorists, claimed 7 lives.

TOFINO - Timeria's air strikes on the Meidan regime in Birat, coming amid the previously intensifying violence in South Adula have forced the world on to President Moreau's agenda amid new questions about how his emphasis on human rights applies to those in the self-declared Republic of Cambria, which is controlled by an insurgent force many have called terrorists.

It has also laid bare the extent to which the Alecburgh right has been empowered in occupied Cambria during the Prime Ministership of Benjamin Warren and now the administration of PM Sparrow Creed. Unrest there sparked wider battles, and could draw the Moreau administration more deeply into the longstanding civil conflict even after this latest seismic eruption abates.

That's a prospect President Moreau and his senior advisers would like to avoid.

They've made clear their diplomatic priorities lie elsewhere. Until now they've adopted a low-key minimalist approach in this graveyard of Zamastanian-led peace initiatives, quietly trying to restore some elements of Zamastanian policy upended by the Sakzi administration's unabashedly pro-national stance.

That has meant concentrating on repairing ruptured relations with the Cambrian citizens, and voicing rhetorical support for a viable Cambrian state as key to a lasting peace with Alecburgh. The extent of Zamastanian involvement thus far has been the deployment of a few hundred troops to Saint Croix and Bens and thinly worded statements.

But they've calculated the prospects for a new round of negotiations as bleak, and are determined to shift the focus of Zamastanian foreign policy to De Yuan. That has already led to issues, as Yuan begins to intervene in Alecburgh and deploy forces to the region.

With that said, the Cambrian government is largely controlled by a violent insurgent group who have committed terrible attacks against Alecburghian citizens and even today a bombing in neighboring Cyruda.

The sudden shifts in focus all across the world this week has seen a return to a traditional pattern. In public statements the president and his Secretary of State have forcefully repeated the standard Zamastanian formula about Cambria's right to declare independence and the right to self-defence in the face of Alecburghian aggression. The terrorist attacks by disconnected individuals, however, have thrown this stance into chaos.

While expressing concern about the mounting number of Alecburgians killed in terror attacks, Secretary Vallotis has drawn a "clear and absolute distinction" between "a terrorist organisation targeting civilians, and Alecburgh… targeting the terrorists". Moreau has seen no "significant overreaction" in the Alecburghian response to the barrage of terror, a judgment that some analysts took as an implicit green light for the operation to continue, despite Zamastanian calls for calm and demilitarization by PM Creed.

PRESIDENT CHERDENKO QUESTIONS PRESIDENT RASO INVOLVEMENT IN BIRAT CIVIL WAR

Image

President Cherdenko questions President Raso of Timeria decision on military involvement in Birat, a country that is now currently in a civil war between the government forces and rebels forces called ‘the People's Democratic Army’. “I don’t know what President Raso's plan is, getting involved in another country's civil war as I would usually see this as a domestic issue rather than an international one. This can go two ways, it can blow up in her face and pretty much make this situation a lot worse than it is or it goes smoothly and the situation is sorted. I’m not condemning her decision, I will suggest that both sides in Birat should stand down and negotiate a ceasefire. It is for the future of Birat and it people.”

ADS-B at Leonrau To Boost Landings, FIR Restructuring

Image

LEONRAU - Leonrau International Airport will soon get a new ADS-B-equipped air traffic control center that will house ATC operations for the Leonrau Flight Information region (LFIR). Slated for completion in the third quarter of 2021 and to start operations three months later, the new Leonrau Air Traffic Control Center (LATCC) will become the backbone of the country’s air traffic control and coordination center for the Department of Civil Aviation’s search-and-rescue system and serve as the starting point to restructure the LFIR airspace. With the new system, the airport will become the only facility in Southeast Adula to operate four runways simultaneously, increasing the frequency of landings per hour from the current 78 to 108. In Adula as a whole, only Rhaga Capital International Airport, Emmiria, and Osea International Airport, North Timeria, support similar capabilities.

Apart from enabling surveillance coverage at a lower cost than the current radar-based system, ADS-B would help air traffic controllers locate the position of aircraft more accurately and allow ATC to implement more efficient use of the airspace, said Minister of Transport Tiong Lai.

LIA's fourth runway has operated since May 2017. The facility’s four runways each extend 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) in length.

Located at LIA, LATCC will replace the existing 23-year-old system at Ubyang Airport, 18 miles outside the city. Construction, which started in February, will cost Z$150 million.

Elsewhere in the region, Saint Croix and Bens has replaced the Doppler Omni-Directional Radio Range Distance Measuring Equipment with a Communications Surveillance/Air Traffic Management System at at Saint Elmenau International Airport in Saint Elmenau. Kynnport, Alecburgh, and Neregas, Nebetia, harbor no plans for an ATC upgrade as of now.

Chancellor Melhaven Orders Strict Sanctions Against President Alan Meidan's Government

Image

Image
Fighting throughout Birat between government and rebel forces have resulted in hundreds of deaths as violence intensifies and international warnings grow.

SAINT MARINA - Chancellor Sadie Melhaven has ordered and Parliament has passed an order that bans all travel to and from the small landlocked Euronian nation of Birat as violence erupts across the country in what is being called a civil war.

Birat regime forces under the command of President Alan Meidan, a controversial figure who ceased power in a 2019 coup, has subjected the people of Birat to intense crackdowns on social, political, and personal freedoms. Rebel forces throughout the country have sprung up in revolution to his regime, but have conducted a series of violent offenses that have left hundreds of thousands of civilians in the crossfire and thousands already dead in less than a week of intense fighting.

Additionally, North Timerian forces are intervening in the conflict, much to international disapproval. Melhaven had previously condemned Timeria's President Raso over the airstrike on an Azil nuclear facility in March, which was met with great skepticism over the validity and morality of the attack. That strike left much of Azil without power as Timeria continues to conduct operations there, and as it sees major deployments in Kossmil, San Martina, and now Estoca and Birat.

Travel is being restricted as the federal forces of Birat conduct counter-attacks on rebel held territory, catching civilians in the crossfire and resulting in at least one cross-border skirmish with East Chanchajilla, a dangerous interception of a Quetanan commercial airliner, and a brewing refugee crisis. The nation's main airport at Alicent is under threat of attack as fighting grows throughout the small nation.

Melhaven urged both sides to cease their hostilities, blatantly condemning President Meidan and issuing strict sanctions on all economic connection and diplomatic ties. The diplomatic workers of Albarine in Birat are being ordered to return home, and a 24-hour mandatory evacuation order is in place, with Albarineans in Birat encouraged to get on flights out of the country or to leave through border entrances in East Chanchajilla or Avergnon.

Despite World Cup Loss, Albarine National Team Sets Eyes On 2022
Albarine was eliminated in the Group of 32 by Durnstaal, who would become the World Cup Champions

Albarine's national team returned to the country two weeks ago in humble defeat after losing to Durnstaal in the Group of 32 World Cup round in Sulifa. Their performance, a 3-2 clinch loss against the eventual World Cup champions, was highlighted following Durnstaals finals victory over Zamastan, the favored victor. Albarine's coaching team has high hopes for 2022's World Cup, with Head Coach William Esterson and Captain Edward Teal hyping up their team's performance.

"We qualified, of course," Esterson lauded, "and we beat Oeslia 2-1. That in itself is great. We fell to the ultimate champions, that's nothing to be ashamed of. We had the most to gain by beating Durnstaal, and in the end the least to lose. Had we lost to anyone else, it would have been difficult to swallow. But we made it with an amazing team and incredible rivals."

"Our offensive game was some of the best we've historically had," said Teal. "We're going to come back next year, wherever it ends up being, and we'll perform exceptionally."

Albarine is already expected to bid for a host city slot in the 2022 World Cup, with the most likely option being Saint Marina.

Martin Urges Ceasefire Mediation, Calls on CCA to Address Birat Crisis

Image
President Gilles Martin enters a cabinet meeting to address the crisis in Birat on May 17th, 2021

President Gilles Martin is closely monitoring the developing and quickly unraveling civil war in Birat, a spokesperson said in a statement to the press. In accordance with other nations across the globe, Elbresia is suspending all trade, travel, and diplomatic contact with the government of Birat as they continue to clamp down on demonstrators and conduct violent attacks against civilian and rebel targets.

Martin urged for a ceasefire in the conflict, and called on the Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council to enact a strict response to both sides in the crisis as well as the North Timerian government, which is assisting rebels in the fight but is also conducting unmitigated air strikes.

The CCA Security Council is meeting this week to address the crisis. Elbresia's diplomats and representatives will be present in Tofino as the situation unfolds.

"We implore that all sides use caution and morality in their decisions moving forward," Martin pleaded in an address. "We do not wish anymore bloodshed or violence, not to those loyal to President Meidan, not to those loyal to the PDA, not to the innocent civilians caught in the middle, and not to the international community caught on the fringe."

Elbresian citizens in Birat, of which there are nearly four hundred, have been advised to return home or remain indoors until it is safe for them to mobilize and return to Elbresia or a friendly country.

Thousands of people have been killed in the fighting, which erupted violently on Monday from weeks of simmering tensions.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
SULAIMAN MEETS WITH MOREAU PRIOR TO SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING
Sulaiman travelled to Tofino to meet with President Moreau

Image
President Atticus Moreau (left) and President Akram Sulaiman (right)

RHAGA - President Akram Sulaiman is ordering humanitarian supply drops to the besieged people of Birat through the Zamastanian and East Chanchajillan corridors. In addition to the relief mission, however, Sulaiman is issuing a ban on travel to Birat as a civil war explodes in ferocity and violence. Thousands have been killed in intense clashes that have thrown off international observers.

President Sulaiman travelled to Tofino on Tuesday to meet with President Atticus Moreau ahead of the upcoming Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council meeting which will discuss solutions to address or quell the conflict. Emmiria's official position is to stand off, as there are little to no connections with the small landlocked nation. However, the implementation of humanitarian drops is a crucial element to the conduct of the Foreign Ministry.

Emmiria is put in a difficult position as North Timeria, a key ally of Emmiria's and TAFCA member, has involved itself in Birat with airstrikes and bombardments against President Alan Meidan's forces. Multiple nations have called on Timeria to stand down and pursue diplomatic resolutions rather than a military path, including East Chanchajilla, Zamastan, Elbresia, and Albarine. Emmiria's government, at least its executive branch and the President's cabinet, have declined to comment on Timeria's conduct. However, lawmakers have expressed their frustration towards Timeria, while others have called on Emmiria to support the rebels.

"The rebels are fighting against oppression," said MP Jareer al-Huq from Tarijabad, "and we stand for freedom. Shouldn't it be up to Emmiria to help?"

Other MPs have expressed the importance of staying out of the conflict, with MP Shaahir al-Hana from Qazvia saying that both sides are causing immense issues. "Of course the government of Birat is a repressive and terrible regime," al-Hana said, "but the rebels have perpetuated violence. Discussion and diplomacy failed, and so they resorted to violence. Patience is needed, the international community should open negotiations with Meidan, but the fighting needs to cease on all sides. Civilians are being killed, and by Allah's grace they'll be delivered from destruction but it takes the globe to make change."

Volovic Escapes Assassination!

Birat National News (
@BNN)
May 18th, 2021 | Argograd, Birat

Yesterday morning's major offensive by the rebels, which killed over seven thousand servicemen from both sides and an estimated 400 civilians, was met with outrage by the President in an emergency council meeting that afternoon. The President expressed his opinion that the rebels would not have succeeded in establishing a secure frontline such as the Kabulh Front without the support of Timeria. Analysts from the Ministry of Defense backed up this statement when it was later declared to the public during President Meidan's address to the nations that have taken notice of the civil war, declaring that they threaten the stability and prosperity of Birat by supporting an otherwise-worthless rebellion. During the president's speech the armed forces launched several major rocket attacks across the Rebel-Federal border into Alicent, with over 450 rockets hitting the city and causing significant damage to it, with an estimated 128 million G$ in damages and over 287 civilian casualties, with only 17 PDA servicemen killed in the attacks.

The rebels retaliated to the rocket strikes with the first ever confirmed air strike against the federal forces, with a Timerian stealth fighter dropping a 500lb bomb on two major rocket artillery positions to support an engagement by rebel forces. According to the reports, a hundred and eighty rebel soldiers assaulted the third most important rocket artillery position supported by tanks and armored vehicles, and after a two hour engagement they captured the position, along with 28 Grad rocket trucks, 2 T80-UK tanks and a federal officer, Yosif Gage. 35 federal servicemen were killed in the attack, with 297 wounded. The PDA took no casualties thanks to the federal defenders not being prepared for the attack.

Today, the PDA's political head, Alexei Volovic, and President Meidan met in the city of Kabulh after Meidan reached out to the rebel leader for peace talks. When Volovic arrived he was shot three times by Meidan himself, the bullets hitting Volovic in the stomach. He drove his way to the rebel convoy waiting outside the city, where he was evacuated to Alicent for medical treatment. While Volovic is in the hospital, his second-in-comand Kuluk Osmani will be running the rebellion. Osmani notified the men of the PDA of the attempted assassination, and tonight he announced that the PDA would no longer be willing to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

"President Meidan is not a man who knows the meaning of diplomacy. His regime was birthed by war and is secured by blood and deceit. He has so much blood on his hands, that you cannot even see the white skin underneath it anymore. The international community has condemned him and placed sanctions on his government, that I thank them for, but the belligerence of their pursuit toward a diplomatic solution only serves to prolong this conflict. If a wolf is about to attack you, don't talk sweet to it. Best kill it before it gets you."

Timerian Forces to stay in Birat
Image

Infinity News Network (
@INN)
May 18th, 2021 | Infinity, Timeria

Just today, the Department of Defense confirmed the presence of Timerian jets in Birat and their mission in support of the PDA. In a release today the Department of Defense confirmed that the Long Range Strategic Strike Group (LRSSG) conducted an unauthorized flight through East East Chanchajilla. There was discussion on cooperating with East Chanchajilla but due to the sensitivity of the operation, it was unanimously decided to move forward without their knowledge. The intelligence advisory board had ruled it “... high risk to inform East Chanchajilla on possible troops movements and current operations against BNP forces. Our board suspects that sharing intelligence with East Chanchajilla would put the LRSSG at risk.”

Currently, the Department of Defense has confirmed that there will be no more flights into Birat and that East Chanchajilla has suspended all flights including humanitarian aid. Despite this Timerian aircraft continue to operate in Birat as the PDA launches an offensive against government forces. The LRSSG is currently providing air cover for PDA offensives and precision strikes on high-value targets.

President Raso also spoke on the issue and affirmed Timeria’s cooperation with the CCA. President Raso agreed to comply with rulings pertaining to the breach of territory and illegal military movement. There is hope within the government that the CCA will see the need to remove President Meidan and not make a ruling against Timerian forces operating in Birat. President Raso stated that “Meidan is outside of diplomacy… The time for diplomacy has passed rather we like it or not.

Also in response to the harsh criticism coming from the President of East Chanchajilla President Raso has bashed him from Infinity stating that “President Boer is extremely out of touch with the needs of the people of Birat. He continues to display his selfishness and has set a precedent that will make it harder to cooperate in the future. His contentious attitude is part of the reason our board found it inadvisable to cooperate with East Chanchajilla. Before understanding the full scope of the operation President Boer had already set his sights on his political goals.”

President Raso also took the time to fact-check some of the news circulating around Timerian forces across the globe. Following an airstrike in Azil President Raso has continued to reiterate that outside of reconnaissance there are no Timerian forces or operations within Azil. The Timerian troops currently in Kossmil are a part of a bilateral security operation between TAFCA members. Also, Timeria’s permanent base in San Martina is still operating under strict protocol as the situation in Southern Adula continues to unfold. To avoid any incident all nonessential operations have been suspended until further notice.

PM Leitner Defends Boer, Bashes Raso - Prime Minister Gabriel Leitner's Pushed Against Raso's Criticism of Boer Over Timerian Intervention in Birat

Staventer - Prime Minister Gabriel Leitner bashed President Aneya Raso of North Timeria, defending East Chanchajillan President Gideon Boer after Raso mocked him for his concern over Timerian intervention in Birat. Raso had previously stated: “President Boer is extremely out of touch with the needs of the people of Birat. He continues to display his selfishness and has set a precedent that will make it harder to cooperate in the future. His contentious attitude is part of the reason our board found it inadvisable to cooperate with East Chanchajilla. Before understanding the full scope of the operation President Boer had already set his sights on his political goals.”

In an address an press briefing, Leitner called out Raso, saying "Boer is acting quite wisely considering Raso's manipulation. The only breach of trust was on the side of the Timerians. Of course we want to see Meidan deposed, and the CCA should act to see him removed, but not through violence rather diplomacy. Raso is a pessimist to avoid that direction, and a fraud to insinuate that Boer is selfish. Boer is looking out for his people and East Chanchajilla's sovereignty in the midst of continuous violence against his people by an authoritarian regime to their West. Raso must recognize the ignorance in her statement."

Leitner went on to say that it's not his place to tell Timeria what to do, just as it shouldn't be in Raso's to tell East Chanchajilla what to do. "She breached his trust by encroaching on East Chanchajillan territory without consulting them, of course Boer is entitled to not cooperate in an action he deems irresponsible and dangerous. If East Chanchajilla flew across the globe, through Timeria, and bombed a neighboring country without consultation, the Timerians would be furious too. They resorted to military action without considering the diplomatic approach that would have absolutely been done with international help. That goes for the Estocan government, the rebels, everyone involved in this conflict."

Shoassau's government has remained largely on the sidelines of the conflict erupting in Birat, not wanting to involve itself in a rapidly devolving situation. Birat rebels and the federal forces of Alan Meidan have been battling with intense furosity that has caught the international community off guard. Zamastan's President, Atticus Moreau, as well as numerous other heads of state, have called for a ceasefire and have likewise condemned Timeria and Estoca for their rampant military buildup which they say has inflamed tensions in the region.

CCA SECURITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON BIRAT RESOLUTION

Image
As te civil war in Birat is growing in intensity and brutality, with thousands having been killed in clashes, the CCA Security Council will deliberate on a resolution to ideally end the conflict.

TOFINO - President Moreau approved a resolution by CCA Security Council President Tyler Gutteres to be submitted to the Security Council for debate and a vote on Thursday, which aims to curb the violent clashes engulfing the small Euronian nation of Birat. The resolution, among many things, calls for a ceasefire. The hope, according to Zamastanian sources, is to introduce a cessation in fighting, an end to foreign military involvement by North Timeria, and the introduction of more organized humanitarian aid shipments.

The nations of Zamastan, Gladysynthia, Vulkaria, Cadair, and Beleroskov are the permanent members with Veto Powers, with the non-permanent voting members being Emmiria, Utobania, Albarine, Caspiaa, Drambenburg, De Yuan, Austrolis I, Durnstaal, Quetana, and Siniapore

The Security Council will be voting by section rather than the resolution in its entirity.

At vote: Security Council Resolution 237 Proposal

Concerns: Birat Civil War

The Security Council of the Coalition of Crown Albatross, recognizing the civil war facing the people of Birat, hereby endorses the following actions (Security Council members can vote to approve all, none, or a select collection of categories);

1. Identifies the conflict as a civil war.
a. With the belligerents being that of;

Chastain predicts Birat ceasefire is 'imminent' amid growing global pressure

Image
The conflict is polarizing sides of the Zamastanian political isle, with some calling for direct support of rebels and others calling for less involvement.

TOFINO - A ceasefire in the bloody Birat civil conflict could be "imminent, possibly within 24 hours," Speaker of the Chamber Natasha Chastain told the Tofino Times on Wednesday, as world leaders dialed up pressure on both sides to end the fighting. President Meidan of Birat, however, has not commented on the possibility of a ceasefire deal.

Concerns have been growing over the worsening humanitarian situation, as the conflict raged for another violent day Wednesday, pushing the death toll to more than 4,220 confirmed -- including more than 60 children. The International Coalition Refugee Council (ICRC) said Tuesday that 11 children in Alicent between the ages of 5 and 15 had been participating in its online trauma treatment program before violent strikes killed them in their homes.

Speaker Chastain expressed outrage at what she called a "maddening, crazy exchange of bullets and missiles," and said both Birat politicians and generals, as well as PDA militants, should be held accountable.

"What they're doing is killing children and innocent civilians," she told the Tofino Times.

Marcus Schembri, a spokesperson for the ICRC, told the Tofino Times that the organization has dealt with children "who had absolutely terrifying, violent nightmares, that make them unable to function."

"The violence, there's no escape from it. This is not like going to some frontline, which you can avoid. This is the frontline coming to your bedroom," Schembri said.

Essentially, the resolution condemns the governments of Birat and North Timeria, the former of whom is ruled by Alan Meidan and has been accused of extensive human rights abuses, and the latter of whom encroached international boundaries to conduct military operations against Meidan.

The resolution also calls for a ceasefire, the introduction of peacekeepers from a neutral country, and the introduction of humanitarian aid to Birat.

HOPES FOR A CEASEFIRE IN BIRAT FOLLOWING RESOLUTION
The CCA Security Council Passed a Resolution Meant to Curb the Violence

President Baldur Hirschl stated that he hopes "a ceasefire can be peacefully implemented in Birat" following a historic resolution passed by the Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council resolution. Resolution 237, among many things, calls for a ceasefire and eventual peace talks, limits North Timerian capability to wage combat operations, and introduces the ability for humanitarian supplies to be inserted into besieged Birat areas.

Although Timerian combat capabilities have been limited, the resolution and the amended proposals adopted means they can keep their forces in the country as a precautionary measure.

Birat has been facing immense conflict over the past few weeks, which have seen President Meidan's forces attacking civilian targets and rebel PDA targets alike. Thousands have been killed, and the international community has been suing for peace.

Osipovgrad Report
Pavlov Offers Support To President Meidan
May 20

Image
Osipovgrad- Vozhd Matvei Pavlov has granted his support to Birat President Alan Meidan, who’s actions during the Birat Civil War have led to sanctions, travel bans, and significant international criticism. He also criticized the ceasefire, stating that “Those traitors must be wiped off the face of the Earth, and they will be, their leaders will hang.” He also insisted that Meidan was simply doing what he had to do to preserve his country and promised that the Slavic Union would send volunteers to assist in the fighting if hostilities resume.

Increased Military Presence In Ledyanaya Region
Ledyanaya- In response to the recent unexplained attacks on military outposts in the Ledyanaya region Vozhd Pavlov has ordered an increase in military presence, and a full investigation to find out who is behind the attacks.

This increased presence has been successful, with an attempted attack being thwarted, with one attacker being shot and captured. An interrogation revealed that the attacks have been by Ledyanayan tribes, upset with the government's attempts to suppress their culture and history. The Duma has recently began voting on the ‘Ledyanaya Culture Act’ which will put a ban on numerous elements of Ledyanayan culture and attempt to remove power from the chiefs of the tribes.

SAINT RANEAU TIMES
CEASEFIRE REACHED IN BIRAT

Following a sweeping Security Council resolution, a temporary ceasefire has been agreed to

Image

Image
Fighting throughout Birat between government and rebel forces have resulted in hundreds of deaths as violence intensifies and international warnings grow.

SAINT MARINA - Chancellor Sadie Melhaven applauded both sides in the ongoing Birat Civil War, including the controversial and internationally condemned government of President Alan Meidan and the rebel forces of the People's Democratic Party, following the adoption of a temporary two-week ceasefire that Albarinean politicians hope will spur peace talks.

"While acknowledging the tragedies and atrocities his regime has allowed to occur," Melhaven stated, "I applaud President Meidan for his willingness to open a ceasefire agreement and seek peace, at least the very semblance of it. This offers a route that the world will smile upon: the opportunity for a lasting peace that holds no more death for innocents."

The Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council, of which Albarinean diplomats participated, passed a sweeping resolution that implemented the ceasefire and called on a cessation of hostilities from all sides, including the Timerians. The resolution also offers humanitarian aid to areas Birat that have been ravaged by the conflict. Thousands have been killed.

The possibility of peace talks with a neutral state, as well as the introduction of peacekeepers, is also on the table alongside the rest of the resolution.

Melhaven had previously ordered and Parliament had previously passed an order that banned all travel to and from the small landlocked Euronian nation of Birat as violence erupted across the country.

Roch Courtial's X6 Qualifies for Rio Palito Grand Prix
Roch Courtial led a surprise X6 one-two in Thursday's practice at the Rio Palito Grand Prix.

Courtial topped the second session, 0.112 seconds clear of Carlos Bas despite missing virtually the entire first session with a gearbox problem.

Bas was 0.278 seconds quicker than third place.

Courtial's performance on his home track was especially impressive, as drivers say that track time is crucial in San Beausoliel to allow them to build up the necessary confidence to push to the limit between the barriers.

But X6 looked competitive all day. Bas was continually up at the sharp end through the first session, ending it second fastest to the C77 team.

The Quetanan was then was second fastest to Albarine after the first runs of the second session, with the drivers on medium tyres, while Courtial was sixth as he dialled himself into the track.

Bas set the pace when the drivers switched to the 'soft' tyres for their qualifying simulation runs, only for Courtial, running slightly out of sync after a longer first run, to usurp him a few minutes later.

NNCNEBETIA
Ancient Emmirian bath complex found on beach in northern Nebetia

A well-preserved ancient Emmirian bath complex has emerged from the sands of a beach in northern Nebetia. The researchers from the University of Neregas (UNA) found well-preserved Emmirian baths with walls more than 13 feet high at the Caños de Meca beach in Nebetia's Andalia region, the university said in a statement.

Only two rooms have been excavated so far, with most of the site remaining untouched. UNA said the site is estimated to spread over 2.5 acres. The walls of the two excavated rooms had been covered by sand "after their abandonment in Late Antiquity," UNA said. Some medieval ceramics from the 12th and 13th centuries were also found near the baths.

At a separate UNA excavation on Andalia's Cape Manasa, at least seven Emmirian salting pools -- used to preserve food -- were found, with depths ranging from 5 feet to 6.5 feet. UNA said some "remains of Emmirian preserves" were found in two of the pools. As well as the Emmirian artifacts, they also discovered an intact prehistoric tomb at the Cape Manasa site. The university said the burial site was 4,000 years old and contained the remains of several individuals.

"It is wonderful," Varin Pozo, Andalia's culture minister, said, adding that the excavations showed that the region was "an incredibly attractive area for all types of civilizations, which endows us with incredible history." Last year, authorities inadvertently discovered a collection of ancient Emmirian containers, called amphorae, while inspecting a seafood store in eastern Nebetia.

The officers brought the finds to the attention of Nebetia's Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, which determined that the containers were likely from the Emmirian Empire and could date back to the third century.

President Brett Highland met with the archeologists and toured the site.

Osipovgrad Report
’Ledyanaya Culture Act’ Passed by Duma
May 22

Image

Osipovgrad- The Duma has officially passed the ‘Ledyanaya Culture Act’, with the bill being passed by a vote of 398-52, with a large chunk of the 52 no votes being by representatives from the Ledyanaya region, western representatives generally showing great enthusiasm for the bill, which will make a significant attempt at suppressing the culture of the Ledyanayan natives, who while are distinct enough to be their own ethnic group have often been grouped in as Slavic.

There have been many attempts to suppress the culture of Ledyanayan natives throughout the nations history, with several attempts throughout the 1800s resembling invasions of foreign nations, becoming known as the Mountain Wars, in which the Slavic military occupied Ledyanaya and committed several atrocities against the Ledyanayan natives, with the natives fighting back through guerilla warfare, eventually forcing the government to concede to the natives and allow them to maintain their traditions.

This bill was passed after significant evidence was found that Ledyanayan tribes were behind the recent attacks on military outposts in the region, with Vozhd Matvei Pavlov issuing a warrant for the arrest of the chiefs of major tribes. An investigation is being launched into whether or not political exiles in the region had any factor in the attacks.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
HUMANITARIAN AID FOR BIRAT APPROVED BY CONSULTATIVE ASSEMBLY
Ceasefire is in its fourth day

Image
Prime Minister al-Karimi and members of the Labour Party walking to the Consultative Assembly

RHAGA - Hopes of a ceasefire lasting in war-torn Birat following the passage of Security Council resolution 237 are persistent in the Emmirian National Assembly, as President Sulaiman approved a bill to send much needed humanitarian aid to the people of Birat. Under a Coalition of Crown Albatross sanctioned ceasefire, to which President Alan Meidan of Birat approved only two weeks of, international humanitarian help is being allowed to be transferred into the country through neutral states.

The Coalition of Crown Albatross General Assembly is deliberating which neutral states will be best suited to deliver the supplies to the besieged people of Birat. With the exception of a few skirmishes in heavily populated areas such as the largest city of Alicent, fighting has subsided.

Prime Minister Mushtaaq al-Karimi, the Labour Party, and the Moderate Progressive Party acting as a coalition amid the flurry of debate in the National Assembly passed the legislation which provides nearly ع56 million in food, medicine, and clothing for the affected people of Birat. The Conservative Party, insistent that the efforts would be crushed if Meidan or the rebels decide to restart hostilities either before or after the ceasefire deadline, combined forces with several National Liberal Party members to vote against the proposal.

Prime Minister al-Karimi spoke to reporters following the legislation's passage, stating "this package will provide deeply needed support for the people of Birat. It's inspiring to see cooperation on this bill, but it's frustrating to see partisanship taking hold amidst developing human crisis."

VONGANE JOURNAL
PLANE CRASHES IN ALBATE NEIGHBORHOOD, 102 KILLED
Quetana Airways Flight 3641 crashed in a neighborhood of Albate

Image
Impact site of Flight 3641 in Ridia neighborhood, Albate, Quetana.

ALBATE - At least 102 people have been killed after an Toring B320 passenger airliner crashed into a residential neighborhood while on approach to the airport in the central Quetana city of Albate, officials say. At least three male passengers of Quetana Airlines (QA) flight 3641 from Napani to Albate survived the crash, a health ministry spokeswoman told the Vongane Journal.

Health officials said 97 passengers and crew members have died, while 5 were killed on the ground. Health ministry spokeswoman Patricia Bartolli told the Vongane Journal that all bodies at the crash site have been removed and are awaiting identification. Bartolli said the three survivors were being treated at the hospital in Albate, while 19 bodies have been identified so far.

Several people who were on the ground when the airliner crashed into houses in the densely populated Ridia neighborhood of Albate, adjacent to the city’s international airport, were being treated for their injuries, she added. President Antonio Brafeo sent his condolences to the families of the victims, stating that he was establishing a national investigation and committee into the cause of the crash.

“The last words we heard from our pilot were that there is a technical problem," a spokesperson for the Transport Ministry said, "and he was told on final approach that he has both runways available to him to land on. But the pilot decided that he wanted to go around.”

The plane then rapidly lost altitude and crashed short of the runway into the Ridia neighborhood, witnesses told the local media. Dense plumes of black smoke rose above houses in the narrow streets of the neighborhood, with television footage showing several houses crushed from the impact of the aircraft. 5 people were killed on the ground, with dozens injured. Parts of the plane, including the emergency exit door, were seen strewn in the streets.

YUAN BEHIND MAJOR CYBERSECURITY BREACH

Image
Cybersecurity company Valient said Apex Secure, a program that businesses often use to let workers remotely connect to their offices, had been compromised.

TOFINO - De Yuan is behind a newly discovered series of hacks against key targets in the Zamastanian government, private companies and the country’s critical infrastructure, cybersecurity firm Valient said Sunday. The hack works by breaking into Apex Secure, a program that businesses often use to let workers remotely connect to their offices. The company announced Monday morning how users can check to see if they were affected but said the software update to prevent the risk to users won’t go out until June.

The campaign is the fourth distinct and severe cyberespionage operation against Zamastan made public in recent months, stressing an already strained cybersecurity workforce. In November 2020, Yuan was suspected of a major attack on the electric grid of Euronia's west coast, cutting off power to over 300 million people in Zamastan, Gladysynthia, Caspiaa, Rio Palito, and Ruskayn. The Zamastanian government accused Drambenburg in January of hacking nine government agencies via a software company widely used by Zamastanian businesses and government agencies. In March, ZSuites and Forrester blamed Yuan for starting a free-for-all where scores of different hackers broke into organizations around the world through the company's email program.

In all three campaigns, the hackers first used those programs to hack into victims' computer networks, then created backdoors to spy on them for months, if not longer. The Zamastanian Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or ZCISA, said in a warning Sunday evening the latest hacking campaign is currently "affecting government agencies, critical infrastructure entities, and other private sector organizations."

ZCISA activated its strictest emergency powers Sunday evening, mandating that every civilian government agency scan to see if they were affected by the hack and to take actions to fix it. Though it's historically rare for it to do so, it's the second time in seven weeks the agency has issued an emergency directive after the hack.

"In recent months we have issued them with increasing frequency, which is certainly a concern and something we don't take lightly," said Jackson Dartman, the agency's deputy executive assistant director of cybersecurity.

"We at ZCISA are very concerned," he said.

Unlike the hacks on businesses, both of which had at least tens of thousands of potential victims, there's little indication that Yuan used Apex to hack a broad number of targets. But the hack is particularly significant because it enabled Yuan to gain access to several federal agencies and major Zamastanian companies for months.

"We're starting to see a resurgence of espionage activity from the Yuaneze government," Dartman said.

None of the victims have yet been made public, though that will likely change, Dartman said.

"In the coming weeks and months, we're going to have a better sense of how big of a deal this is from a national security perspective," he said.

As with the hack, Yuan deflected but did not deny responsibility. In an emailed statement, a spokesperson for Yuan's embassy in Zamastan, Liu Pyua, said Yuan is "a staunch defender of cyber security" and "firmly opposes and cracks down on all forms of cyber attacks."

Anchorhead International Airport to be Renamed After Cassious Castovia

Image
President Castovia's official presidential portrait, 2010

ANCHORHEAD - Anchorhead International Airport is being officially renamed after the late-President of Zamastan Cassious Castovia. The plan to rename the airport was unveiled today by the Alenchon Provincial Board of Transport. AIAX is an international airport under Class B airspace in Anchorhead. It is owned by the city of Anchorhead and is 11 miles (18 km) west of downtown. While being an international airport, it is one of the smaller international ports of entry in Zamastan, with a single terminal with three concourses and 35 gates. The airport averaged 5.2 million passengers in 2020.

Cassious Castovia, a native of Anchorhead, was born in the city in 1949. Cassious Cartreau Castovia served as the 30th President of Zamastan starting in 1982 until his death in 2015, the longest term of any President at 33 years and 19 days. He assumed power in an emergency election after the death of President Damian Lorrie. Prior to the presidency, he served as the Governor of Zian and had additionally served on one of that state's main appellate courts.

He is widely considered to be one of the most consequential leaders in Zamastanian history, seen as a strategic diplomat and one of the most powerful leaders of his time. Castovia presided one of the largest economic surges in Zamastanian history, and he passed several pieces of legislation that improved basic civil rights for its citizens, such as the legalization of same-sex marriage in 1983 and the expansion of voting rights. Under his administration, Zamastan was one of the few countries relatively untouched by the 1998 Financial Crisis.

Despite his prowess as an economic stimulator and a champion of civil rights, he was notorious for the conflicts he engaged Zamastanian forces in; presiding over both the First War in Vulkaria and the Second War in Vulkaria. In 1984, he threatened to send troops to Cadair to fight the Republic of Prydania during the Rhyddid Crisis. He also sent peacekeeping troops to join Coalition of Crown Albatross contingents in both Verdusa and Jaginistan. His action during the Treviso Nuclear Crisis and sanctions against West Chanchajilla is sometimes considered to be the closest that the world ever came to nuclear war. Castovia's long tenure in office also ensured that he nominated 7 of the 9 justices to the Supreme Court; Roosevelt Dunn, Humphrey Bullock, Atticus Dougherty, Kacper Hogg, Shona French, Julie Beaumont, and Isaiah Mccormack.

Castovia passed away of unexpected and undetected Brugada syndrome on December 5th, 2015. His son, 25 year old real estate and tech billionare Zacharias Castovia, assumed the Presidency on January 1st, 2016.

Anchorhead is a major port city located in Zamastan and is currently the 33rd-most populous city in the country, with roughly 2.1 million people in its immediate metropolitan area. It is the largest city of the province of Alenchon before the capital of Alenchon City.

With Cyclone Vaas 300km from Barangadesh coasts, humidity drives sizzling heat
Image
About 300 kilometres from the Bangladesh coasts, Cyclone Vaas is hurtling towards Barangadesh at a speed of four kilometres per hour in a south-southeasterly direction.

Coupled with a heat wave, increased humidity in Daccas and other parts of Barangadesh under the influence of the storm system has made people suffer from unbearable heat.

Meteorologist Abdul Hamid said on Monday that temperature may drop from Tuesday with rains and thunder showers.

The maximum temperature recorded for the day was 39.8 degrees Celsius in Khuyana. The mercury in Daccas rose as high as to 37.8 degrees Celsius.

Cyclone Vaas, which would be the second storm to hit northern Ausiana in a week, is set to turn into a "very severe cyclonic storm" with wind speeds of up to 110 miles per hour (177 kph), the Barangadesh Meteorological Department said.

State authorities were aiming to complete all evacuations by Tuesday afternoon, including moving around 6,500 pregnant women into hospitals.

The cyclone is likely to compound problems for state authorities already dealing with a spike flu infections that has put health infrastructure under severe strain.

Last week, Cyclone Uktae, the most powerful cyclone to hit Ausiana's north coast in more than two decades, barreled inland killing more than 50 people and leaving a trail of destruction.

The impact of Vaas on Daccas could be substantial and will begin on Tuesday morning with drizzles and it could remain cloudy, the Times of Barangadesh reported.

Over the next 24 hours, the rain could intensify and turn into a deluge. It will be heaviest on Wednesday.

NATIONAL PRESS OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF YUAN
YUAN GOVERNMENT ADMITS TO ZAMASTAN HACK

Image

SHANGHAN - The Yuaneze government, at behest of President Xi Jingyi, boldly admitted that it was behind a cybersecurity breach in Zamastan which targeted Apex Security, a program of cybersecurity firm Valient. The Yuaneze government admitted to the breach stating that they had "coordinated a specific and directed, targeted operation to test the capabilities of the Zamastanian firewalls."

President Xi Jingyi of the People's Republic released a statement saying that he holds sole responsibility for ordering the cyberespionage to take place, but stated that the intent was not meant to cause any physical harm to the Zamastanian cyber infrastructure. "Yes, we committed the hack," Xi stated, "but this was a precise coordinated effort against a single Zamastanian business. We in no way have harmed the integrity of the infrastructure. We will gladly promote our technical prowess above that of Zamastanian protectionary measures. We understand fully the anger their officials may feel; it's not everyday in which they see their vulnerabilities exposed."

Xi maintained that Yuan was not trying to steal Zamastanian state secrets, while reinforcing the idea that Zamastan's infrastructure could now be realized through the breach. "Perhaps the Zamastanian government will take the issue more seriously and reorganize themselves, reestablishing their protection in their cyber-ware."

This is the first hack against the Zamastanians that the Yuaneze government has formally admitted to, although they have been tied to multiple other incidents of cybersecurity breaches. In November 2020, Yuan was suspected of a major attack on the electric grid of Euronia's west coast, cutting off power to over 300 million people in Zamastan, Gladysynthia, Caspiaa, Rio Palito, and Ruskayn. In March of this year, ZSuites and Forrester, a Zamastanian real estate company that has contracts in Yuan, blamed the government of Xi Jingyi for starting a free-for-all where scores of different hackers broke into organizations around the world through the company's email program.

In all three campaigns, the hackers first used those programs to hack into victims' computer networks, then created backdoors to spy on them for months, if not longer. The Zamastanian Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or ZCISA, said in a warning Sunday evening the latest hacking campaign is currently "affecting government agencies, critical infrastructure entities, and other private sector organizations," which Yuan continues to deny.

Over 200 injured as trains collide in Leonrau metro tunnel

Image

LEONRAU - More than 200 people were injured in Qolaysia on Monday when two metro light rail trains collided in an underground tunnel close to the downtown hub in the capital Leonrau, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 8.45 p.m. (1245) when one of the trains, which was empty after being repaired, collided head-on with another train carrying 213 passengers travelling in the opposite direction on the same track, district police chief Mohamad Zainal said.

Forty-seven people were severely hurt and 166 others sustained minor injuries, he told reporters. The crash occurred in a section of tunnel about 100 metres (330 feet) away from the LCC station outside the Bayrani Business District.

"We are still investigating the incident..., but we suspect that perhaps there was a miscommunication from the trains' operations control center," Mohamad Zainal said.

Videos and photos of the incident posted on social media showed several bleeding commuters and broken glass panels inside the trains, operated by Prasarana Qolaysia Berhad.

President Abiel Kennard said the collision was the first major accident in the metro system's 23 years of operation, and he pledged a thorough investigation.

SAINT CROIX JOURNAL
SCB Navy Returns Stationed at Ports
Urskabau ordered the detachments, deployed last month, to return to port as Alecburgh military action seems "unlikely"

Image

Saint Elmenau - President Urskabau ordered the six ship fleet of the Saint Croix and Bens Navy that was deployed one month ago in the wake of escalating tensions in South Adula to return to port. The SCB fleet, led by the flagship destroyer CBMV Belia, had been conducting maneuvers for the past month alongside the Zamastanian ship ZMS Artega, Albarinean vessel ANV Auerbach, and the Emmirian vessel ENVS Makhat in waters restricted to Saint Croix and Bens. At the closest, the fleet came no closer to the shore than 50 kilometers off the coast of Kalkvia and Varzo in Alecburgh.

The drills acted as a "protectionary measure," according to President Urskabau, as Alecburgh's Prime Minister, Sparrow Creed, stepped up her rhetoric against the self-declared Republic of Cambria and was prepping for a military operation against the region. However, over a month into the rhetoric, no military operations against Cambria have ensued despite continued terror attacks committed by their insurgents. Dozens of Alecburghian citizens have been killed in attacks attributed to the Cambrian resistance movement, as well as a bombing last week in Cyruda that killed 7.

The increased militarization in the region prompted widespread condemnation by international powers, despite near universal calls for Sparrow to step down her military positioning. Zamastanian, Emmirian, and Albarinean forces will remain in Beresa for an extended amount of time. President William Urskabau thanked President Moreau (Zamastan), President Sulaiman (Emmiria), and Chancellor Melhaven (Albarine) for standing with the SCB government.

"We thank our allies for their devotion to the preservation of peace and protection of the innocent," Urskabau said. "While we understand the effort that they've endured in their deployment, we cannot express the gratitude to which the people of Saint Croix and Bens hold towards the WEDA organization and its prowess."

Despite continued attacks by Cambrian terrorists, the threat of PM Sparrow's use of military action against them has become "increasingly unlikely", according to intelligence reports. There is speculation that the growing presence of international opinion on the Cambrian movement, as well as the recent events surrounding the ceasefire in Birat, which has distracted further chaos in the South Adula region. SCB government sources continue to maintain that the Alecburgh military should not strike Cambria, but also continue to condemn the Cambrian insurgents who have committed atrocities.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
PM APPROVES NEW ROUND OF YUAN SANCTIONS
Sanctions are implemented following Yuaneze cyberattack on Zamastanian infrastructure

Image
Prime Minister al-Karimi and Consultative Assembly passed legislation sanctioning Yuan tech companies

RHAGA - Prime Minister Mushtaaq and the majority coalition of the Labour Party and the Moderate Progressives, along with many members of the conservative bloc, have approved legislation in parliament that sanctions the government of De Yuan and multiple Yuaneze tech corporations. The sanctions come after a major cyberattack committed by Yuaneze hackers against Zamastan, which has received international scrutiny. Yuan's President, Xi Jingyi, admitted to the hack yesterday.

Prime Minister al-Karimi spoke to reporters following the legislation's passage, stating "Yuan is threatening the sanctity of the international community through this blatant attack on Zamastanian infrastructure. Compromised and gone are the levels of safeguard. We must make aware the consequences of this new form of aggression in the 21st century and the developing world of technology and cyber security."

President Akram Sulaiman also condemned the hack, calling it "dangerous and provocative," and endorsed the implementation of sanctions. Emmiria and Yuan have been in a prolonged war of words and economics, with tariffs and sanctions being traded on a consistent basis over the actions of each government and perceived threats. Most recently, Emmiria sanctioned Yuan for its treatment of the Pangchu Muslim community, while Yuan sanctioned Emmiria for pulling significant exports of oil and gasoline.

EMMIRIAN MODERATORS RELEASE BIRAT PEACE PROPOSAL
Days into a temporary ceasefire, a proposal for a lasting peace has been revealed by Emmirian watchdog Salem Daem

Image
The population of Birat received its first round of humanitarian aid since the implementation of a ceasefire

RHAGA - A proposal for a prolonged peace in Birat has been revealed by the Emmirian watchdog group Salem Daem (Lasting Peace), advocating for a shared government and the moderation of international peacekeepers. Within the deal, Salem Daem outlines the formation or reestablishment of a national legislature with shared legislative ability with 50% Meidan supporters and 25% PDA supporters, with the remaining 25% being of a neutral nature. This, according to the Salem Daem guideline, would allow for embattled President Alan Meidan to retain the majority of power in lawmaking affairs, but with a check and balance system that accounts for those outside his direct circle. It also ensures that the PDA, which is the rebel group battling the federal government in Birat, is able to have some influence in the new government without posing a significant threat to Meidan's hold while maintaining the semblance of democracy.

Critics of the plan have already pointed out that the Meidan government, especially Meidan himself, are accused of mass human rights abuses. Meidan ceased power in the Birat government during a 2019 coup, and has since imposed harsh brutality against the people of Birat. Initially, President Sulaiman and many legislators in Consultative Assembly called for Meidan's removal from office, but have since shifted to mediation and moderation rather than a total regime change. The hope, with the current ceasefire that Meidan agreed to, is that he has allowed an avenue for democracy.

The Salem Daem plan also calls for a constant stream of humanitarian aid to help rebuild Birat after weeks of violent clashes that have left nearly ten thousand dead across the country. It calls for 15,300 peacekeepers from a neutral state, likely Sulifa or Andaluni, to be instated in the country to maintain the peace and moderate the lasting ceasefire. Additionally, the world's major economies (specifically highlighted as Zamastan, North Timeria, Drambenburg, and Yuan) would be entitled to contribute Z$50 million each year to the humanitarian rebuilding process.

It is yet to be determined what becomes of the Salem Daem plan, as the tribulation and uneasy nature of the ceasefire and conflict as a whole is turbulent and unpredictable. The hope, according to Salem Daem, is that the plan will be implemented and amended where appropriate, and will lead to a lasting peace. It is most likely, however, that if any peace plan is implemented to lasting effect in Birat, it will be a combination of many international proposals.
