CONGRESSIONAL HALL SPLIT ON MILITARY INTERVENTION AS AIRSTRIKES CONTINUE

TOFINO - Lawmakers convened in Congressional Hall in Tofino today as debate around the executive use of airstrikes against West Chanchajillan regime forces, as President Moreau remains adament that Zamastanian air superiority in the ongoing offensive is the main element keeping Eastern forces with the upper hand.

Senator Adam Wolffe (GLP), one of President Moreau's most staunch critics, spoke on the floor of the Senate bashing the continuation of airstrikes after the East seized the city of Omi and became bogged down by regime artillery. He criticized the President's lack of clarity and unwillingness to share specific details on the administration's plan to deal with the Armbar regime outside of the use of airstrikes.

"President Moreau, respectfully, has no clue how to handle a crisis on this magnitude. A man who, among his accomplishments, has overseen the separation of our eastern provinces, a stagnated economy, the upstart of a violently unraveling war, and among it all he shares no clarity."

Wolffe was countered by Senator Benn Sargent (BCP) who supported the use of airstrikes, stating "Armbar has shown his destructive capabilities, and my friend Senator Wolffe seems to ignore the moral and ethical responsibility we have to ending this man's evil tyranny. Airstrikes and our commitment to support the East Chanchajillan ground offensive is our ethical responsibility."

Military officials stated that airstrikes on Tuesday, March 2nd, involved hitting key defensive and artillery positions of regime forces who have stalled the major offensive of the East just to the south of Omi. Omi was captured yesterday by East Chanchajillan forces, but the mobilization efforts have been hampered by artillery strikes from the regime. President Gideon Beor of East Chanchajilla has stated that the support of Zamastanian airstrikes has been key to the continuation of the offensive, and military officials are showing confidence that the regime retaliation will crumble.

SANCTIONS IMPLEMENTED AGAINST TOGARIA

Congressional Hall unanimously voted to implement sanctions against the Republic of Togaria, even after the government of Togaria agreed to return to peace talks in Buena Vera. Congressional Hall was not able to agree on complete sanctions on the entire organization of SEIAA, although implementation of individual nations was passed, including legislation targeted at the Royal Family of Alecburgh and the government of Cyruda.

Speaker Natasha Chastain (GLP), who issued the proposition to install sanctions, praised the rare show of bipartisanship, saying "today's vote shows how important issues can unite even the most divided legislature."

Senator William Beauvilliers (BCP), who heads the Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee, stated that the sanctions against Togaria were largely against the political leadership, the nation's military, and key economic functions. Sanctions against Alecburgh are targeted at the personal utilities of the Royal Family, specifically Queen Diana, the controversial head of state who has refused to relinquish her dramatic installment of absolute rule after ousting the democratically elected Prime Minister and parliament. Sanctions against the government of Cyruda include a hold against their agricultural exports, which force it into more domestic trade which has historically been stagnant.

Queen Diana yesterday made comments in retaliation to the proposed sanctions, calling them an "over-exaggerated response" and bashing President Moreau, who holds no authority over Congressional Hall's conduct. Even Queen Diana's SEIAA ally, President Brett Highland of Nebetia, revoked the Queen's comments and called them a "real immature act".

President Highland Under Fire For Cervil Comments

President Brett Highland of Nebetia responded today to criticism for comments he made during an administration meeting directed towards opposition leader Miranda Cervil, apologizing for what he called "off the cuff and inappropriate remarks."

In an administrative meeting at the President's residence in Lira, Highland was caught on a hot microphone making remarks about Miranda Cervil, the leader of the National Labor Party and the opposition to the Green Party, President Highland's own.

"Cervil is a piece of work. Waste of air. Her policies are basically a tenet for radicality and b******* crazy people. I hate that woman."
- Pres. Brett Highland

Madam Cervil issued her own response prior to the President's apology, stating that she was extremely disappointed in the President's remarks.

"Whether or not he was saying this in the privacy of his cabinet or in a public setting, it's insulting. It's sexist. It's blatantly offensive, and Mr. Highland should be ashamed of himself."
-Madam Miranda Cervil

The President's comments reportedly and presumptuously are stemming from Cervil's recent move in Parliament to keep Nebetia drawn into the Southeastern International Association of Adula (SEIAA) agreement, which President Cervil is reportedly trying to leave following immense disagreements in the organization. These disagreements come from an alliance with the government of Togaria, which has been hit with hard international sanctions from nations across the CCA, including Zamastan and Drambenburg.

Supreme Court Ruling Uncovers Department of Defense Scandal

Infinity - What started as a legal battle between married service members has erupted into a scandal within the Department of Defense. Ashir and Natlie Veasis have been married for 5 years and most of their time together has been spent in a fierce legal battle with the Department of Defense. The couple had served together in the same force but were assigned to different units. This is where the drama starts… After getting married the couple received notice from a military court that they were being charged with fraternization. Ashir and Natlia were both of the same rank, assigned to different units, and there were no signs of negative effects on readiness or morale. As the military court worked through the case much of the information about the two were classified. The case was moved up the chain and given the same ruling. Eventually, the Supreme Court picked up the case, unsure how the Military Court came to the decision with so much information being classified. Senator Autumn Clark of the Intelligence Committee worked to get information about the two declassified.

After getting approval, information about Ashir and Natlia Veasis was open for review. Following the release of documents the Supreme Court quickly decided in favor of Ashir and Natlia Veasis but what followed was a firestorm for the Department of Defense. Documents showed that the two were a part of the Dragon Program and the two had data going back to age 11. Ashir and Natlia Veasis had been orphans recruited into the Dragon Program at age 12. President Raso immediately authorized the declassification of the programs and congress opened up a full investigation.

At the first Congressional hearing, Dr. Schroeder was the first to speak in the case. Dr. Schroeder started the Dragon Program 36 years ago. He recruited orphans from across the country to participate with the goal of establishing an elite special forces unit. Many in Congress had been given access to information about the Dragon Program and expressed their outrage. Recruitment is currently being suspended but the DoD has refused to shut down operations as there are still recruits going through training and they have deemed it essential to the Timerian military stance. Ashir and Natlia Veasis have both refused to speak on the situation stating “There’s no issue between us and the Dragon Program. We just wanted to have our marriage honored and be able to live our life together.” Neither one will be required to speak at the Congressional Hearing and they have both refused requests.

6.6 MG Earthquake Rattles Ilhaveia
Thursday morning's quake is the strongest in decades

An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck central Lutharia on Thursday, sending people rushing from their houses but drawing no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

The quake, which was felt across the country, struck close to the capital of Ilhaveia.

"I have never experienced anything like this before, I immediately left the house," a citizen told Lutharian state television.

The ZNGS said the magnitude was 6.3, while the Euronian Seismological Centre of Avergnon (ESCA) put it 6.6, revising earlier reports that suggested the tremor was as much as 6.9.

The Fire Brigade rescued a disabled elderly man from a house that partly collapsed in the village of Tsochori. Minor damage was reported at a school in the nearby village of Sarasi.

There were no immediate reports of other people trapped in buildings in the area.

Lutharian seismologists said there was a sequence of post-quake tremors and said schools should stay closed in coming days.

Lutharia is often rattled by earthquakes, most of them causing no serious damage. A quake measuring 5.9 killed dozens of people in Lutharia in 1999.

Today's quake is the strongest registered quake in nearly 4 decades.

PARLIAMENT TO VOTE ON UNIVERSAL ACCESS TO SANITARY PRODUCTS WITHIN BATHROOMS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Image
The government is set on tabling legislation that would guarantee teenagers having access to free sanitary products within their schools, 3/02/2021

Constantiopolis, Constantio - The Blanian government announced today that it was preparing legislation that would expand the access to sanitary products for teenagers within schools, as well as make the existing sanitary product schemes free. Currently, schools in Constantio do not offer any means of acquiring female sanitary products.

The existing schemes, which cover condoms as part of the reshuffling of sexual education in the 1990s, still require the students to pay for them. This has also been reported by numerous schools still practicing the required course on 'abstinence' that was put forward in a compromise of legislation between Blanian and Conservative lawmakers and the Verdusan Catholic Church.

The Minister for Health, described the updating of this legislation as "completely necessary for a healthy society". He said that the "existing measures do not go far enough" and that they were "biased to a single sex".

President Tony Blanian sponsored the bill alongside his colleague Martin Hampersvore, the Minister for Education, who described it as "utterly fundamental to the wellbeing of the youths". He stated to the Speaker that it was "fundamentally sexist" to firstly only cater to male sexual health. He then added that a "price-tag for this right, not luxury, creates an imbalance in the school system. Not only does it place poorer households, the ones who would benefit from the scheme the most, at a disadvantage -- but studies show it has created an inadvertent 'pecking order'."

Hampersvore told the assembled senators that "what you are seeing in schools is those who can afford the sexual health products are using them as status symbols".

The bill seeks to not only equalise both sexes in their acquisition of goods, but would see the sanitary products provided by the school nursing facilities 'for free'. The bill would also completely remove the necessity for the 'abstinence' classes that were added when condoms were first introduced. Whilst a government amendment rendered the classes voluntary, rather than compulsory, schools in rural areas and in some cities continue to prioritise these classes in sexual health.

Such a bill has been criticised by members of the Constantioan Conservative party and the Labour Union. CCP leader Randall Tyran criticised the bill as "encouraging sexual relations between children in the schools".

Church faculty have also expressed disapproval; and the Bishop of Constantiopolis has informed the President that he intends on "writing a scathing critique" of this legislation.

The President has completely endorsed the contents of this theoretical bill, arguing that "its time to join all other countries that have seen these kinds of progressive platforms and policies that, ultimately, lower teenage pregnancies, lower the stigma surrounding sexuality and sex, and cease the creation of social imbalances in the classroom."

Stalled Offensive Enters Third Day As Eastern Forces Struggle to Advance
The offensive south of Omi stalled when the Eastern army was met with staunch Western resistance

OMI, WEST CHANCHAJILLA - East Chanchajillan military forces are entering their third straight day of fierce fighting and very little territory gained as Western regime forces continue to hamper their movements in the second week of battle. The city of Omi has been hit with heavy barrages from regime forces, leading to a flux of refugees fleeing West Chanchajilla's fifth largest city and Eastern troops struggling to make headway in the until-now rapidly moving campaign. Zamastanian air strikes are keeping Western forces at bay, and the East has opened a second front further to the south, as well as closer to the capital city of Ivora.

President Gideon Boer stated on Thursday that the official end goal of the campaign is the toppling and capture of Frederick Armbar and his regime, which at the moment requires the seizing of the capital and largest city of Ivora. Armbar has been in hiding and has not been seen since the rocket attacks of February 23rd. East Chanchajillan and Zamastanian intelligence has been careful with what they've shared with news outlets, although most reports suggest that Armbar is still in Ivora or at least one of its immediate suburbs.

Thanks to intensive East Chanchajillan and Zamastanian airstrikes, the West has been unable to muster any of its air force, and because of the Zamastanian air dominance, Eastern forces have been able to keep mobilized and movable throughout the course of the campaign, even as the offensive slowed with the siege at Omi. Several hundred East Chanchajillan troops have been killed since the campaign began, but estimates state that nearly two thousand regime affiliated fighters have been killed.

MEMORIAL FOR 2017 ATTACKS WILL OPEN TO PUBLIC IN MAY

Image
The north facing facade of the Egret Station memorial

TOFINO - A memorial deticated to the 438 victims of the October 18th, 2017 terror attacks in Tofino is set to open to the public in May, say officials who have overseen the memorial's construction. Located across from Egret Station, one of the sites bombed in Kingston, Tofino, the memorial features several long marble and sandstone beams etched with the names of all 438 of those killed in the attacks. Several sturdy Northern Zian oaks are planted at the site as well, and several statues of firemen and first responders have also been erected.

Many in the public are excited about the opening of the memorial, noting that it pays tribute to those who were killed and injured while also commemorating Zamastan's fight against terror. Critics, however, have expressed frustrations over the memorial, its design, and the timing of the opening. Some have expressed anger that the site was constructed and is set to open less than three years after the attacks, with others pointing to the depiction of firefighters and police officers in statues over the regular citizens killed in the attacks. Supporters point to the design of the memorial as endearing and striking, while not obstructing or sticking out obtrusively in the surrounding community.

The October 2017 Tofino Attacks, also commonly referred to as the 2017 Tofino Terror Attacks were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that took place on 18th October 2017 in Tofino, Zamastan and the city's northern suburb, Tirzah. Beginning at 21:16, five suicide bombers struck the Tofino metro subway line. This was followed by several mass shootings and a suicide bombing, at cafés and restaurants. The attackers killed 438 people, injuring another 1,690 people, almost 800 seriously. Three of the terrorists also died while the authorities continued to search for accomplices following the attacks. The attacks were the deadliest in Zamastan since the Alanis Pride Parade Bombing. Zamastan had not been on high alert since the end of the Second War in Vulkaria, during which 2 lone-wolf attacks took place at an office complex and a supermarket in Tofino and Jade Harbor that killed 8 people and wounded 22, including civilians and police officers.

The Malvarian Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying that it was retaliation for the support of the Vulkarian government in continued fights against their insurgency. The President of Zamastan, Zacharias Castovia, said the attacks were an act of war by M.L.F.. The attacks were planned in Vulkaria and organised by a terrorist cell based in Gladysynthia, aided by undercover West Chanchajillan and Malvarean regime operatives. Most of the Tofino attackers had West Chanchajillan citizenship, two were Cadairian, and some had fought in Vulkaria, but all were granted asylum under Zamastan's legislation among the flow of migrants and refugees. The attackers were overlooked as suspects initially because they had entered through East Chanchajilla and Avergnonian border checks.

In response to the attacks, a three-month state of emergency was declared across the country to help fight terrorism, which involved the banning of public demonstrations, and allowing the police to carry out searches without a warrant, put anyone under house arrest without trial and block websites that encouraged acts of terrorism. On 21 October, Zamastan launched the biggest airstrike of Operation Vulkar Rain, its contribution to the anti-M.L.F. bombing campaign, striking M.L.F. targets in Vulkaria. On 22 October, the suspected lead operative of the attacks, Ezra Pomannuk, was killed in a police raid in Arinals, along with two others. Malvare, which was found to have supported the terrorist's training while in Gladysynthia, was subject to crippling sanctions by Zamastan and much of the international community. The Zamastanian Intelligence Service also saw major overhauls, with Director Kirk Faulkman establishing anti-terrorism task forces that laid ground work for essential operations against Al-Fijar in the following years.

AIRSTRIKE HITS ARMBAR'S PALACE IN IVORA

A Zamastanian airstrike targeted and hit West Chanchajillan dictator Frederick Armbar's palace in the capital city of Ivora, as at least five large explosions rocked the Western capital overnight, as the Zamastanian aerial bombardment and East Chanchajillan military campaign continued.

For a second night, the air strikes targeted the area around Col. Frederick Armbar's compound. Zamastan is enforcing a Coalition of Crown Albatross resolution to protect West Chanchajillan civilians in the wake of the Eastern military offensive. This directive has been increased following a number of rebel uprisings against Armbar's rule.

De Yuan has said the raids were a "gross violation" of the resolution, which Shanghan did not vote for. The government of Yuan does not officially support the Armbar regime, although financial links have been connected between West Chanchajillan and Yuaneze businessmen.

Large plumes of smoke could be seen drifting over Ivora following the airstrikes. Zamastanian military officials says the palace compound has been used by the regime as a base for troops and vehicles used to carry out attacks on civilians. West Chanchajillan authorities, in their first statement since the beginning of military operations two weeks ago, say Zamastan is trying to kill Armbar and that the night-time strikes are terrorising Ivora residents.

Meanwhile, the Zamastanian Air Force said it had destroyed or badly damaged four of Col Armbar's heavy armoured vehicles near the coastal lakeside town of Casmass on Friday, and destroyed a radar station in the city of Accadia further south along the lake.

PRESIDENT VANBERSON CONDEMNS "ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY" BY YUAN

President Arthur Vanberson (Labour Party) has condemned De Yuan's "continuing assault on democratic institutions and the imprisonment of journalists", after Shanghan announced plans to clamp down on international news networks.

Yuan's National People's Congress (YNPC) unveiled the plans on Wednesday.

One proposal would require all journalists to be approved by a committee of members loyal to the Communist government.

The move follows the imposition of a tough security law last year.

Critics say Shanghan is crushing dissent and removing the "free press" agreement it made with the international community.

NORA, ANDALUNI - More than 30 Andaluni charities have condemned the government's decision to cut aid to multiple developing countries, following cross-party criticism.

At least £87 million has been pledged in aid to the countries of Saudi Jiddiya, Khaytan, Jaginistan, Serra Leon, and Rulani, down from £164m in 2019-2020.

A Foreign Office spokesman said the government remained "steadfast" in its support to the people of those four nations.

First reported by openGovernment, a leaked document dated last month suggests officials are considering cutting aid to Jiddiya by 67% and Jaginistan by 88%.

Aid to Khaytan could drop 58%, Serra Leon 60%, Rulani 59% and Peoratia by 60%, it says.

In a letter to Zuzana Capolva, charities say the government has made a "misjudgement" by thinking the public is happy to turn away from countries affected by poverty, war and disease.

"History will not judge this nation kindly if the government chooses to step away from the people in these struggling nations and thus destroy the Republic's global reputation as a country that steps up to help those most in need," the letter says.

Baxafamily, Nora Christian Aid, Feed Children and Loving International are among the 33 signatories.

Venancias Supporter, Jim Turchi, Announces Reunion With Rock Star Son After Five Years

It is rare to find somebody in Vitosium who does not know about Jim Turchi's controversial comments surrounding politics nowadays, especially after his support for former Prime Minister Raymond Venancias during his tenure. Others also know about the struggle his son, Nick Turchi, now Nick Fiorini, went through at the behest of many due to him being the country star's son. However, the two are set to reunite on the tenth. Until that happens, let us go back to the beginning of this story.

The year is 2010. Former "Busted Volley" vocalist, Jim Turchi, along with the rest of the band, announce their retirement after 30 years and 12 studio albums. Later that year, the world watched as Jim and his son, Nick, competed on Get Up and Dance Season 6. This gave a lot of exposure to Nick, especially, and the band he co-founded, Iron Affinity, who released their first album two years prior. After the season, the father and son duo would announce a joint band, Turchi and Son, while Nick still performed with Iron Affinity.

Three years later, Iron Affinity was now known as a successful rock band and the side project, Turchi and Son, did relatively well and had two studio albums on its own. However, it was at that point that Rhoti premiere, Raymond Venancias, announced his desire to become the next Prime Minister, going against the ever-famous former Deputy Prime Minister, John Savori III, otherwise known as John Third. While Rhoti was the only province to support the People's Conventional Party after the insane downfall of former Prime Minister Garrett de Salo and, previously, Carter Tiabbo, Raymond's promises intrigued the nation, especially the dark hearts of those that resided in many of the provinces. One of these people would end up being Jim Turchi.

While Turchi had the odd controversial statement, many excused him due to his life as a country star. However, many turned against him when Venancias spoke vicious lies about the other candidates and showed very sexist behaviour. Turchi showed an immense support, even saying on Owler, "what people don't get is that Ray V is right about everything!" Venancias pandered to the "alpha males" and the insecure, using fearmongering as a huge tactic to win favour. Jim Turchi would repeat his words and would soon become aggressive to those that opposed the would-be disgraced Prime Minister. Eventually, Nick would speak up on social media, revealing that he and his dad had a massive falling out after many arguments and Turchi and Son was now done.

What followed was Turchi's divorce with Miss Vitosium 1981, Monica Fiorini, who heavily opposed Venancias and was called sexist names by him on social media. Turchi not defending her became the final straw and the two divorced months later. Nick's focus was the next album of Iron Affinity, even dedicating a song to his parents, which became heavily controversial to Venancias' supporters due to the obvious jabs at his father, Jim Turchi. The two would have many arguments on social media, barely keeping it private.

During Venancias' second year, which became clear that he was hoping to make the country a dictatorship, Jim Turchi continued to voice his support and was, again, aggressive to those who dared oppose him. "DICTATORSHIP?! MORE LIKE KING!!!! LETS MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!!" he posted on Owler on April 2015. This led to a very shocking announcement by Nick Turchi that he was planning to change his surname to Fiorini, his mother's maiden name. A large public argument ensued with Nick denouncing Jim as his father after, and I quote, "what you did to mom". This was the last the two spoke to eachother as they both blocked the other and reportedly refused to keep in contact.

While Jim's support to Raymond Venancias was grand for the next two years, the country star soon wondered in late 2017 if Venancias was really the right person to lead the country. However, not much really came from that and the father and son duo still had no contact with each-other. Following the election of the current Prime Minister, Vincent Gatostico, Jim just wished him luck and closed his account. Just three weeks ago, Jim Turchi would re-open his Owler account and openly admit that Venancias was a horrible person and his support for somebody so awful destroyed his family. He regretted how he treated people on the social media app. Reportedly, just three days ago, Turchi would then announce that his son, now Nick Fiorini, contacted him and the two are to meet up on March 10th.

21 Foreign Journalists Arrested in Crackdown

SHANGHAN - The Yuaneze government has conducted several house raids resulting in the arrest of 21 foreign journalists following the indoctrination of new legislation limiting the use and consumption of foreign media. Among those arrested were journalists affiliated with the Versenian News Network.

Yuan has repeatedly been condemned for its crackdown on free press and expression in recent years, notably in August of 2020 when several Zamastanian and Austrolis Iian journalists and prominent lawyers were arrested without specific reason given. The ensuing diplomatic crisis was resolved upon the negotiation of their releases, and President Xi Jingyi of the People's Republic and President Atticus Moreau of Zamastan met at a summit in Sulifa to discuss the crisis.

This time, however, the arrests come following legislation passed unanimously by the Communist Party controlled People's Assembly of De Yuan that requires all journalists to be approved by a committee of members loyal to the Communist government. The move also follows the imposition of a tough security law last year that resulted in a massive crackdown against magazines and news networks, as well as personal bloggers and online social media sites. These efforts were conducted with the intent of "ceasing traitorous dissent to the People's Republic".

Jyau asked to return police officers who fled Qolaysia coup in November
Jyaueze authorities have been requested by Qolaysia's Foreign Ministry to return police officers who fled during November 2020's coup d'état attempt

Gutaai - Qolaysia has the Jyau government to return several police officers who fled the country seeking refuge after refusing to carry out orders. Jyau officials said the officers and their families had entered the country on passports in recent days.

In a letter, Qolaysian authorities asked for their return "in order to uphold friendly relations".

Qolaysian has been gripped by mass protests and strikes following a military coup last year.

Security forces have taken a hard line against the demonstrations and at least 55 deaths have been reported since the start of protests in November.

On Saturday protesters continued to defy the government of President Abiel Kennard and other politicians, gathering across the country. In the largest city and capital, Leonrau, police used tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse crowds, reports said.

There were no reports of casualties.

The letter said that Qolaysia had information about eight police officers who had travelled into Jyau.

"In order to uphold friendly relations between the two neighbour countries, you are kindly requested to detain eight Qolaysian police personnel who had arrived to Jyaueze territories and hand-over to Qolaysia," the letter read.

Man Attempts to Assassinate Prime Minister Lynne Bushore

Prime Minister Lynne Bushore is safe and in a secure facility after a gunman opened fire on her official convoy on route to Parliament this morning. One of her security officers was injured in the attack, but security fired back and killed the suspect after a brief firefight.

Bullets reportedly shattered through the windows of the Prime Minister's town car, which is when the security officer inside was injured. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Mathai Elbach, a man who had a history of unification sympathies for the Offeat Troubles.

Bushore released a statement via her office stating that she is fine and that she is extremely grateful for her security staff putting their lives on the line to defend her and her aides.

Elbach fired on the convoy as the Prime Minister left her residence around 9:30 AM. A security apparatus has been made around the residence to provide extra security in the wake of the assassination attempt.

Elbach used a “Hi-Standard revolver,” which is a restricted firearm for which he had no license to posses. It presumably is a High Standard gun, which commonly fires .22 calibre bullets, but also comes in a .357 Magnum version. They are sold with various barrel lengths, including a long model that looks like the guns in old cowboy movies.

Concerns Around Treviso Nuclear Plant Arise Throughout East Chanchajillan Command As Troops Advance
The offensive in Omi has restarted, Western forces in "organized retreat" for a last stand in Ivora

WEST CHANCHAJILLA - East Chanchajillan military forces have broken through the nearly week long stalled siege to the south of the city of Omi, and now forces who mobilized further south have begun an operation to capture Treviso and Vicalvi, the fourth and third largest cities in the country respectively. Fighting has already been reported around the infamous Treviso Nuclear Power Plant, which gained international notoriety in 1992 for a disastrous nuclear meltdown which registers as one of the worst man-made disasters in world history, as well as the worst nuclear accident in world history.

"Back at it," a high level military official stated to the Vilanja Sentinel following the start of operations near Treviso. "Our forces have performed exceptionally during the course of these operations."

The siege in Omi was broken in part thanks to extensive Zamastanian airstrikes that hammered away at the West Chanchajillan defenses. Now, military officials have stated that the West Chanchajillan forces loyal to the Armbar regime are largely in a "coordinated and organized retreat", with most intelligence pointing to what will likely be a difficult battle to take the capital of Ivora.

Frederick Armbar's residence was struck by Zamastanian airstrikes a few days ago, killing dozens of people including one of Armbar's top generals and his Minister of Engineering, Pedro Salas. Airstrikes during the weekend also targeted radar facilities, military outposts, and convoys moving too and from the West Chancahjillan front lines.

As Eastern forces move in towards Treviso, there are concerns that the Armbar regime might be committing atrocities to stall coalition forces, and there are fears they may purposefully sabotage the containment facilities at the Treviso Nuclear Plant. In 1992 the reactor, located adjacent to the city of Treviso, was strained by continuous small errors led to the overheat and shutdown of one of the seven reactors. For roughly three days, the station was simply abandoned and closed, but the building heat (unknown to the facilities employees) resulted in a combustion explosion, destroying the reactor’s core, outer walls, and damaging the two reactors next to it. The damage then increased drastically as low-pressure systems caused cold air to vent into the heated cores, causing sparks that ignited a slimmed nuclear explosion.

The explosion allowed radiation to escape that devastated the outskirts of the city, killing an estimated 5,600 people over the following three years. The West Chanchajillan government under President Parish White tried to cover up the incident, however when scientists detected the radiation plume in the atmosphere directly above Zamastan airspace, President Cassious Castovia called the West Chanchajillan President as a show of force to block the contamination. Facing possible armed conflict over the crisis, the nation of Cadair used their pacifist stance to broker a peace treaty between the two nations, allowing for scientists to eradicate the contamination zone, evacuate citizens, and overhaul many nations' energy programs.

CRANES JOURNAL
EXCLUSIVE: MARTIN SAINT-YVES INTERVIEW
PART 1

Political Correspondent Jojuan Edmondson of the Cranes Journal traveled to Tregueux, Zamastan, to meet with former President of Ossinia Martin Saint-Yves, who is serving a life sentence in a Zamastanian prison following his capture and the length of trial which began in July of 2020 and is still ongoing, pending representatives from the new Ossinian government. Saint-Yves' regime has been accused of human rights violations such as frequent executions of citizens and political prisoners, torture, and massive censorship. He allowed criminal syndicates to operate in Ossinia, specifically drug cartels, to grow, produce, and manufacture drug products at a light tax to fund some of Ossinia's infrastructure and military endeavors, making Ossinia a drug network for international drug trading.

In 2020, Saint-Yves began ordering his armed forces and state-sanctioned pirates to attack international shipping, eventually culminating with the ZMS August Vendetta incident. This prompted the C.C.A. to remove Ossinia's seat from the General Assembly and Zamastan to launch an invasion of the island nation. He was captured by Zamastanian forces on May 27th, 2020, and put on trial during the Tregueux hearings in Tregueux. The Cranes Journal was given exclusive access by the Zamastanian government and the representatives of the interim Ossinian government to the former-President's holding cell to conduct an interview with him.

Edmondson: "Mister Saint-Yves, thank you for agreeing to meet with us. You have been in this cell for nearly a year now. Have they been treating you alright?"

Saint-Yves: "They've treated me with such impunity. My exercise is limited, my meals are bland, it's a perfect example of the hideousness of the republican regime."

Edmondson: "I've been told that they've given you the standard treatment, that means one hour of exercise a day, three nutritious meals, and you're allowed to watch television, you have sheets..."

Saint-Yves: "It's still a cell."

Edmondson: "Yes, but one could argue, and they certainly are making this argument in the case against you and your government, that you imprisoned people for far less than what you've been charged with. Not to mention you'd place them in much worse conditions."

Saint-Yves: "Capitalist propaganda."

Edmondson: "Propaganda?"

Saint-Yves: "All of it. We imprisoned terrorists and anarchists and treated them humanely."

Edmondson: "With respect, that's not one hundred percent accurate."

Saint-Yves: "Tell me why."

Edmondson: "Well, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of accounts of people who were merely activists and spoke out against you politically."

Saint-Yves: "No, they-"

Edmondson: "Yes, and the conditions of an Ossinian prison have been likened to, and I quote, "a moldy containment with no windows, rats, starvation, torture, and disease killing inmates."

Saint-Yves: "Perhaps that was one isolated example, friend."

Edmondson: "That was the main prison facility in Périnnois."

Saint-Yves: "Like I said, capitalist propaganda."

Edmondson: "Sir, there is a very clear distinction between prisons being run poorly due to mismanagement versus their purposeful deterioration. I believe, and many others believe, that your government let these facilities rot intentionally as a psychological way of destroying dissent."

Saint-Yves: "Is there a question here?"

Edmondson: "Yes, Mr. Saint-Yves, the question that I'm leading up to, I suppose, is do you think you ran your country effectively? Did you promote true socialist policies, meaning the betterment of people."

Saint-Yves: "People loyal to the cause, yes. Yes, I certainly did. Ossinia of the 80's, the 90's, the 21st Century, Revolutionary Ossinia, was lauded for our standards of living. Our recognition worldwide was superior to-"

Edmondson: "That's your worldwide recognition, Mr. President, I'm referring to your personal opinion and vision of the domestic Ossinian."

Saint-Yves: "Flawless."

Edmondson: "Flawless?"

Saint-Yves: "Perfection."

This interview will continue in Part 2 next week.

Bona Fide Housewives Legend Leaves Franchise After 11 Years

Bona Fide Housewife, Carley Hinton-Rhoames, announced her leave, saying that she is not returning to film the newest season. Since 2009, Hinton-Rhoames has spent the eleven years in front of cameras as we saw her struggles and her hilarious one liners. Not only that, we saw her grow and that growth led to the biggest change in her life in 2017.

Carley Hinton-Rhoames is the oldest child of Joseph Lee Rhoames, the founder of the highly successful hotel chain referred to as The Rhoames. The company behind it, Rhoames Hotels Inc. made the family a fortune. When we first saw Carley in 2009, she was immature, petty and overworked. In Season 2, we watched as the weight of her eventual inheritance crushed her but we also saw her overcome that in Season 5, feeling ready and accepting her responsibilities as the heiress of one of Vitosium's largest hotel chain.

One thing we really remember about Carley Hinton-Rhoames is her no-nonsense attitude. She would never hesitant to call somebody out and, unlike others, never had any moments that would peg her as a hypocrite, making her a fan favourite. Her many famous arguments with cast members like Jade Veitao, Kamilla Bond and Zia Pera also made her what fans call a "meme machine", generating hype towards the series. Alas, when Season 9 came in 2017, many figured that her leaving the show was a matter of time after she inherited the hotel chain from her father who had retired. In the most recent season, we, notably, saw less and less of her, leading to the shocking announcement that she decided to leave the franchise.

"Yes, the rumours are true," she said on social media. "Now that I am the head of Rhoames Hotels, I have become busier and busier. I will always cherish the time I had on the show but I need to move on and focus on my career. I hope you all understand."

Many fans on Owler were upset with some calling for the boycott of the show upon her leave. She told her fans to continue watching. With this, she is now the second person to not return as Zia Pera was fired in late 2020 following the reunion special.

Strike on Azilian Nuclear Facility

Image
Infinity - Last night Timerian bombers conducted an operation to destroy an Azilain nuclear facility. The facility was discovered by accident by a Timerian satellite that was observing the Treviso Nuclear Plant during the Chanchajillan Conflict. The satellite picked up an unknown measurement from inside Azil that caught the attention of an Intelligence Agent. TIA agents in Azil then traveled to the facility where they confirmed the presence of the facility. Once this confirmation was received President Raso authorized bombers to strike the facility. The mission was carried out by two B-16s that used a combination of bunker busters and fuel air explosives. The mission was a success but President Raso has increased pressure on Azil. There are reports that a planned invasion of Azil was in the works if the mission had failed. The 4th Mountain Division has been put on standby at the border and forces across Timeria have been mobilized.
President Raso has appealed to the Coalition of Crown Albatross that they place sanctions on Azil and condemn their unregulated nuclear program. President Raso has also asked nations of Adula to increase economic pressure on King Xerxes Curcian.

It is believed that a Timerian drone shot down earlier this year had breached the airspace and was downed before discovering the facility. Many within Timeria believe that SHADOW was assisting Azil in developing weapons grade uranium. It is believed that the facility was destroyed before being fully active. Many experts believe that the material would be used in a dirt bomb and detonated in a major city. This would present a major threat to nations across the globe as SHADOW expands its reach. It’s unknown exactly what the goals of SHADOW are but President Raso has continued her commitment to dismantling the organization. She has proposed that an international task force be formed with the sole purpose of countering SHADOW.

President Brafeo Commends Alecburgh's Queen Diana Decision to End Absolute Rule, Still Bashes Her "Immaturity"

VONGANE - President António Brafeo of Quetana stated early on Wednesday morning that the Queen’s decision to remove absolute power is “exactly what the world needs. Dictatorships are far too common nowadays and it looked like Alecburgh was becoming a tyrannical state. I commend her for her actions today.”

He continued to say that Quetana would lift 50% of its sanctions against Alecburgh and the rest would be lifted after the elections are held and a new Prime Minister is installed. He declined to talk at length about the Quetanan government’s stance on the controversial independence declaration by the Mandalay governor.

“That isn’t my place to discuss. If it happens, it’s beyond Quetanan control.” He went on to bash the Queen, stating “I can only speak to my personal opinion, not that of the government, but I believe that the Queen is young, immature, and unfit for leadership. She did a good thing today, but there are dozens of dead and wounded Alecburghians and her country is splitting quite literally because of her. I’m not a fan of hers. She’s a terrible leader. Again, though, today’s relinquishment is a positive step.”

National Terrorism Alert Raised As Queen Diana Dissolves Absolute Rule
The Alecburghian Monarch Established New Dates For National Election, But Concerns Around Possible Unrest Over Mandalay's Independence Surge

Image

Saint Elmenau - President Urskabau raised the national terrorism watch level for Saint Croix and Bens to its highest ever following Queen Diana of Alecburgh's dissolution of her controversial absolute rule installment. While President Urskabau issued a rare commendation of the Queen, whom he has shared severe disagreements with, he also acknowledged that the rapid reversal of her policy was "rushed and indecisive considering the circumstances."

"The Queen made the right decision, ultimately," the President said, "she had to relinquish this dictatorial rule at one point or another, so the government of Saint Croix and Bens is thoroughly pleased."

"However, there does come some stipulation with the recent declaration of secession from the people of Mandalay." President Urskabau went on to say "There has been much death and destruction in the wake of protests against Diana, so one can only assume what will happen as the country breaks apart or tries to keep itself together."

The state of Mandalay had recently declared independence from Alecburgh, sowing fears of unrest and further violence in ongoing protests that killed dozens throughout the country.

The President acknowledged the sentiment of support for the Alecburgh royal family amongst some political factions in the Saint Croix and Bens legislature, saying "There are, rightfully, many in Saint Croix and Bens who support the Queen wholeheartedly. This is completely understandable, there tends to be display of pride that comes with royalty. This is cause for concern, though. Loyalists and sympathizers to the Queen have been linked to violence before, and our intelligence points to factions within Saint Croix and Bens that may try to commit attacks against democracy supporters. That is why we have raised the terrorism watch throughout the country."

Mount Abu Eruption Larger Than Last Week's - Evacuations in Order

TEMEBOK, QOLAYSIA - Mount Abu in North Temebok, Qolaysia, erupted for the second time in little over a week, with Wednesday's eruption causing excessively more concerns from officials. President Abiel Kennard issued mandatory evacuation orders for several villages in Temebok, encompassing several suburbs of the city of Temebok itself, accounting for nearly 400,000 people.

Mount Abu, which is among the most active in Qolaysia, stands at 2,600-metres (8,530-feet) and was dormant for four centuries before erupting in 2010, killing 3 people. Another eruption in 2015 killed 17 people, while seven died in a 2016 eruption. There are so far no casualties in today's eruption, according to authorities.

Fishing vessels and other ships have been ordered to stay away from a 15 miles radius near the volcano out at sea, with concerns that billowing ash and flying rocks will cause significant damage as the eruption largely points out to the ocean.

Chancellor Melhaven Condemns Timerian Strike on Azil Nuclear Facility

Timerian bombers undertook a mission to disable a nuclear power plant in Azil, resulting in what Albarinean officials say are "severe worries of catastrophic consequences"

Saint Raneau - Chancellor Sadie Melhaven issued a rare condemnation of a regional ally, stating that the North Timerian military strike overnight that destroyed a nuclear power plant in Azil has resulted in "severe worries of catastrophic consequences."

Albarinean intelligence has suggested that the strike, despite what Timerian officials stated, may not have destroyed the radiation prone nuclear rods, which would result in subsequent uncontrolled spread of dangerous radiation.

"We support Timeria in their efforts to undermine the influence of SHADOW in the national politics of the Azil regime and to destroy their harbor," the Chancellor said, "but destroying nuclear facilities presents a major issue and major worries for our government."

Chancellor Melhaven went on to state that the nuclear facility, the only one in Azil, was extremely important to the overall power grid in Azil. Nearly 50% of the electricity in the country came from the nuclear facility while the remaining supply in the country comes from hydroelectricity, which is currently highly vulnerable due to record low rainfall and lower than normal volumes in key water reserves.

Azil is one of the few nations that still operates as a totalitarian monarchy, with King of Azil Xerxes Curcian being in power since 1978, propped up by the terrorist and crime syndicate SHADOW. King Curcian's reign has been classified by many nations, most notably Timeria and Austrolis, as a tyrannical dictatorship. Since late 2020, Timeria has conducted military operations inside Azil, mostly in the form of drone strikes, to disrupt SHADOW operations.

Albarine has placed sanctions on Azil, as have most countries in the Coalition of Crown Albatross, but Albarinean officials have maintained that their sanctions only target government entities and not the benefits of the general population.

President Highland Directs Military to Be On Alert for Terror Threats Following Queen Diana's Cancelation of Absolute Rule

President Brett Highland has ordered the military of Nebetia to be on high alert for possible terror attacks and violent unrest in the wake of Queen Diana of Alecburgh's decision to reverse her absolute rule. President Highland stated to the press that he was pleased and supportive of the Queen's decision, stating that it is a move in the right direction for democracy in a nation that has experienced much political turmoil in the past several months. He also stated that the threat posed by individuals with "immense reverence for the preservation of a monarchy" indicates possibility for violence.

The military is set to establish routine patrols throughout major cities across Nebetia, especially in the capital where the parliament is set to resume discourse this weekend. Concerns sprouted regarding terror threats after death threats were sent to multiple politicians who have been critical of Queen Diana and the Alecburghian royal family.

Other nations throughout the region have already established their own protective measures, with Saint Croix and Bens issuing a new high-level terror watch.

Jaginistan conflict: Caspiaa makes new push for CCA-led peace process

KIBUL - Caspiaan Prime Minister Ms Tullia Grönberg, Foreign Minister Hiett Markstel, and Ambassador to Jaginistan Mr Bjorn Jyamstead has made a blunt new push for a CCA-led peace effort in Jaginistan.

In a letter to the Jaginistani President, Mr Markstel called for a 90-day reduction in violence and a transitional government formed from both sides.

Mr Markstel also said no decision had been made about whether to stick to a planned Coalition troop withdrawal by 1 May.

He called on the President to show "urgent leadership".

Mr Markstel's letter, a copy of which was obtained by the Kibul Tribune on Tuesday, reflected the difficult position the Coalition of Crown Albatross finds itself in as it reviews whether to withdraw its last 2,500 troops, consisting mostly of Caspiaan, Zamastanian, Quetanan, and Timerian troops.

Mr Markstel warned in his letter that the terrorist insurgent group Al-Fijar could make "rapid territorial gains" across the country in a "spring offensive".

The level of violence in the country remains high. The past year has seen a surge in targeted killings of journalists, activists, judges, and other civil society figures - killings blamed largely on Al-Fijar.

BELEROSKOV LIFTS SANCTIONS AGAINST SEIAA AS QUEEN DIANA RELINQUISHES ABSOLUTE RULE

President Nikolai Ubotrov of the Federation of Beleroskov today lifted sanctions that had previously been installed against the Southeastern International Association of Adula after Queen Diana of Alecburgh relinquished her absolute rule mandate over the country, ending what experts called "months of dangerous and violent tensions."

The sanctions, installed two weeks ago over Togaria's withdrawal from the peace talks with Qolaysia, intended to cripple export opportunities for vulnerable SEIAA nations. Togaria reentered the peace talks, but other factors including controversial and demeaning statements from the 18-year-old monarch led Beleroskov to keep a hold on the sanctions.

Today, however, the Queen relinquished control and ordered that new elections be held to install a new government and a subsequent new Prime Minister after she ousted her democratically elected PM, Benjamin Warren, in January. Protests had ensued following her actions, and they continued to the point that the state of Mandalay issued a declaration of secession. It remains to be seen how unrest will continue or freeze, but Beleroskovian officials have stated that they are keeping a close eye on every move that the Alecburgh monarch makes. President Ubotrov called the ongoing tensions "concerning", and has stated that Beleroskov is only a "pen stroke away" from reinstalling sanctions if political violence increases or the Queen backs off from her word.
