King Christopher Hughes recently decreed that from now on, chewing gum shall be prohibited. This is after a recent visit to Singapore where the King was impressed by the cleanliness of the streets and when inquired why, was met with the answer that Singapore has a ban on chewing gum.

From now on, anyone caught in possession of chewing gum faces a $1,000 fine and anyone caught importing chewing gum faces a $10,000 fine. Exceptions have been made for nicotine gum, that is available for prescription only for smokers trying to quit.

Laws like this make our job easier. Here at the Decepticon Bureau of Propaganda, any media we produce serves at least one of two goals: 1 - Show that dictatorship is the best form of government, and 2 - show that Leader Megatron in particular is the best leader for our people.

One of the points that is constantly advanced by Leader Megatron is that other governments, including other dictatorships, are "too nitpicky and totalitarian for sapient beings to tolerate, at least if they have any self-respect." He goes on to say that such governments are so overly-controlling about the minutae of people's lives that they are a "threat to sapience" and are more likely to produce mindless droids than actual people.

However, it is often hard for us to explain to the people just how nitpicky, "nitpicky" really can be. Some of the examples we put forth are met with skepticism because they are so extreme.

Thanks to you, we now have a perfect example of what Megatron is talking about, and best of all, it's one that skeptics can go visit to see for themselves! That example is your nation. One that actually has a law about chewing gum, put forth under the flimsy pretense of wanting to keep the streets a micro-bit cleaner. It will be obvious to all that your government just wants to exert total control over your unfortunate subjects' lives, and is only using clean streets as a cellophane-thin pretext as an excuse to take away their agency about yet another thing.

It will be easy to contrast this with the leadership of Megatron, whose regulations are meant to ensure the actual safety and health of our culture and nation, and who is unlikely to do anything bad to you at all as long as you don't mess with him, his government, or the Decepticon Way. He actively promotes sapience, and much of this involves NOT legislating little details on the level of chewing gum, or much of anything else if the lack of a law won't result in truly drastic consequences such as the nerfing of our culture, the production of weak or defective people, or the literal physical destruction of our planet.

Because of this, we thank you. We are always looking for examples of bad dictatorial governance that we can contrast with Megatron's great leadership, and you have provided a perfect one.
