IBA Council Elections: Update

Hi everyone! As we finally have two applications for Arts & Culture, we can move on with the vote on whether to confirm the two candidates.

The deadline for voting will be Saturday, 6 February 2024 at 23:59 GMT.

If the two candidates are confirmed, it will mark the end of the current round of IBA elections, with the next one due to be held towards the end of 2024. Otherwise... we'll have to reopen applications again.

The list of eligible nations has not changed, which means recently accepted nations may not be eligible to run. Kindly check the list at the bottom of this post to be sure.

Hi everyone! The new year is just around the corner, and that means it's time for the next IBA Council elections. This will be the 3rd time they are held, after the election of the inaugural council in 2021 and the election of the current term last year.

The IBA Council consists of 7 seats. One seat is reserved for the World Hit Festival Overseer, and another is automatically filled by a representative of the WorldVision Song Contest Committee—both positions are elected by a public vote. In this election, the remaining 5 seats will be up for grabs.

There are four roles that you can undertake as a member of the Council. If you are running for election, please declare which roles you are interested in taking, and you can pick multiple roles. The roles are as follows:

Arts & Culture: 2 seats. This role is in charge of the general IBA Arts & Culture thread, as well as the IBA Programme Exchange thread, where members can post their nation's shows and televised events for airing in other member nations.

Press: 1 seat. This role is in charge of overseeing the smooth running of the IBA's Newswire thread.

Secretariat: 1 seat. This role is in charge of the running of the main IBA thread, and therefore has the responsibility of periodically processing sign ups, posting any relevant announcements, and just in general being the IBA's go-to for general inquiries.

Sport: 1 seat. This role is in charge of the IBA's Sport's thread, which entails the management of sign ups for IBA-linked sporting events as well as general sporting discussion among iBA members.

The current composition of the IBA Council is as follows:

Arts & Culture: Llalta and Pemecutan
Press: Natanya
Secretariat: Kalosia
Sport: Britonisea
World Hit Festival Overseer: Achaean Republic

IBA Council Elections: Update

Thank you everyone who voted in the on the two Arts & Culture Candidates.

The results are as follows:

Arts & Culture
Accept the nomination of Great Britain and Irelandia: 1 vote (20%)
Re-open applications: 4 votes (80%)

Accept the nomination of Llalta: 5 votes (100%)
Re-open applications: 0 votes (0%)

Therefore Llalta will remain in his Arts & Culture seat until December 2024. Congratulations to Llalta on the re-election.

Additionally, we still have one final vacancy on the IBA Council for the other Arts & Culture seat. I (Kalosia) will continue to organize the election for this seat but am otherwise uninvolved in the day-to-day of the IBA Council.

I will review candidate applications for the Arts & Culture seats shortly after Monday, 22 April 2024 at 23:59 GMT. We will proceed with a vote if there is a candidate by then.
