STE announced its participation in the 87th WorldVision Song Contest confirming previous media reports that Misha Sjelmsgur (of Warner Music Ekoz, pictured above) was being lined up to represent the country in the upcoming contest. After finding fame at 13 years old on Sjarnasoekke 2009 (Ekozian variant of 'Got Talent'), Misha has gone on to carve out a successful music career, releasing her first single ''C.U.", hitting the top ten on the Ekoesestoplistann. Her debut album reached number three on the album charts in 2018.

She will release her WorldVision entry this coming Wednesday.

Axuva Today Network [ATN] Today we announce that the Axuvian Government now recognizes The Russian Language as an Official Language, Korean and English were spoken in the beginning, but there were Russians too, russians were forgotten and their language were not recognized due to the things they did in the past, but now their language is a official language of Axuva, and there will now be 3 official languages instead of two.

As promised over on the Discord (and because I faintly remember a couple of people saying that the OOC threads should have more stuff in it than just simply sign-ups, bids and manifestos come Committee election time), I've decided to make my own list of my top five favourite entries. I don't particularly like making number-based ranking things, as evidenced by my Eurovision Again rankings where I have it as "GREAT/GOOD/AVERAGE/BAD/BOTTOM TIER". But I figured I might as well give it a go and see if I can try and make something good out of it. And anything to keep me working on my WV87 entry.

The rules here are simple. Only one song per contest and one song per nation will be allowed in the top five. In other words, there won't be two songs from, say, Ertzei Kishim in the top five nor will there be two songs from, say, WV86 in there either. Luckily I have thought ahead and made a special Honourable Mentions spoiler for songs that missed out but should still get a mention. More on that when I get to it. I will be covering songs from WVs 79-86 and picking out which five I liked the most out of them. Although WV87 will be starting on Monday, the majority of the contest will be in the New Year which is why none of the songs will be featured in this list. My criteria will be mostly based on the tunes themselves but other factors such as RP, whether or not I'd listen to it after the contest, maybe how matey I am with them, the standard and completely arbitrary really. So without further ado, here's my top five WorldVision Contest Entries of 2020. I will get names wrong but it's only because I can't capitalise certain letters. Bottom Five has been cancelled.

  • #5: ARIS MOOE - FORCE (Malta Comino Gozo, WV84). Yes, Malta Comino Gozo and I tend to trade points a lot. We're actually quite honest and candid about it. But at the same time we don't really give 12 points to each other all that much, so don't compare us to Greece and Cyprus. In fact, this was the first time I did so because I simply felt that there weren't any better entries. Seriously, this was a tune and a half and, with the amount of effort the guy regularly puts in since WorldVision 80-something, it's honestly a surprise that he had to wait this long before getting his maiden win.
  • #4: CLAUDE BOLS - MY HEART BEATS (Beepee, WV85). The first song to win the contest despite not winning with the juries. And for a very damn good reason. It's acually quite a fun song to listen to, as Arvingarna continue to play the brilliant dansband music that helped them win Melfest '93 (and come 7th in the Eurovision that same year despite not getting a single set of 12 points). A good amount of RP and some good lyrics from him. And it's Beepee, so it has the witty names and slight humour you know, expect and love.
  • #3: LES VANDALES - ON LUTT'RA JUSQU'A LA FIN (Normandy and Picardy, WV83). While it only got eight points from me at the contest, this had more of a lasting effect on me. The tune was excellent, as you would expect. And while it lacks the pre-entry stuff the other entries in this top five has, the stage RP really sets the scene and really matches the song. Overall, a worthy bronze medallist on my list.
  • #2: LORENZO - ALRIGHT (Talvezout, WV79). Not only one of my favourite host entries but also one of my favourite Kylie songs as well. I even actually considered entering it but I think that Talvezout did a much better job than what I would've done, anyway. An excellent tune first and foremost but also some good RP, some good lyrics and a worthy podium spot all-round. Also, when I was doing my scoresheet for that contest I accidentally had a nation give this 12 instead of Todlichebujoku, which was a bit awkward when I noticed my error but luckily everyone else had their own lists so it wasn't that embarrassing.
These are songs that either just missed out on my top five or weren't really that close but I've got enough positive things to say about them that I figured I should mention them here. Besides, with a fair amount of the songs mentioned in this spoiler the reason why they missed out on the top five was simply "I already had one of their songs up here". Regardless, still pat yourselves on the backs for making it this far and I hope one of your songs makes it into my top five for next year if I make one. There are in no particular order, by the way.

  1. BIRTHE RIGHT - ALL IN YOUR MIND (Beepee, WV82). While this song is marginally better than his winning WV85 entry, I honestly felt that Claude deserved a spot in the top five for his achievement. Not to mention that I've limited this to one song from each country and one song from each contest. Regardless, this is still an excellent tune to this day that should've won Eurovision 1989 and should've finished top five in WorldVision 82. Beepee's entry for WV80 was also a good tune but since most of it would be the same as what I wrote here, I won't give it its own paragraph.
  2. TULIVISI - VENOM (Todlichebujoku, WV81). I've been quite hard on Todlichebujoku this year, with the majority of my commentary towards his songs being "meh" and, other than one or two occasions, receiving average televoting scores. But regardless, he did send a song that I actually quite liked this year and this was it. It may not have been as good as his winning entry from WV77, which would've made my top five list for 2019 if I made one, but it's still a damn good listen that you should check out to either refresh your memory or to listen for the first time.
  3. AREOPAGUS - THE LAST JUDGEMENT (Izmedu, WV80). This was an absolute epic in the ancient sense of the word. Serious, this was a song that went on for nearly seven minutes but still managed to be interesting enough to keep my attention. Not my favourite metal song of the contest but the amount of RP attached to it and the tune still keeping my attention was enough to give it a spot here.
  4. MASSEY MASSIE - SAY SOMETHING NEW (Nahlcomo, WV81). Oh boy, this received a LOT of hate during the listen-along for this contest. But I still genuinely thought it was a good tune. Incredibly calm, relaxing and just overall I can't hate it like everyone else did. Shame I was the only one to give it its only set of points that contest but at least it was better than nothing. Only an honourable mention because the studio version was better in my opinion.
  5. ROKZANA - ROUTE 99 (Polkopia, WV82). Again, another song that should've made the top five of that contest. I wouldn't say that it was my favourite of the contest or a song I'd go out of my way to listen to over and over again (but I will admit that it's a nice enough tune), which is why it misses out (it would've been my #6 or #7 for the record). But he still showed a good amount of detail and RP to prove why he's won the contest nine times.
  6. SAMARA AND IZDAR - MY LIFE FALLS APART BEFORE ME (North Alezia, WV83). I must admit that I didn't really like the song that much when I first heard it. And my thoughts kind of carried on throughout the contest. But listening to it properly time and time again kind of changed my thoughts on it. I kind of like it now and, while I won't say it's one of my favourites, it still deserves its podium finish. Besides, it also missed out because I felt Normandy and Picardy's entry that contest was much better. For the record...
  7. TESERO - THE FLOOD (Estana and Theos, WV83). Shame that Besen only managed to get one completed WorldVision entry with this puppet, as well as seemingly trying to sneak it under the table according to what someone told me on Discord, because this was a genuinely brilliant song. Sure it doesn't have as much lasting appeal as N&P's entry, which is why it's only an honourable mention, but it still deserved my 12 at the time.
  8. GORDON GLAVAS - RATNICKA PRICA (Izmedu, WV84). The only reason why I didn't give it any points at the time was because I was in the middle of a move at the time, I had no proper way of getting onto the internet and the song wasn't finished by the time I moved out of my old house. Regardless, this was still an excellent tune that I enjoyed when Izmedu played it during their NF and, while I can't remember what I gave it in the televote, I would've given it 7 or 8 points if I was able to get online properly during that time.
  9. LAUREN - FOREVERMORE (Mister X, WV86). Not as good as the other Kylie song on this list but it's still a pretty decent tune. A good amount of detail and RP and some good lyrics as well. I like it. Nothing more needs to be said, really.
  10. ESTHER WINTERBOURNE - FATE (Llalta, WV82). I'm going to be brutally honest here, as a tune this was incredibly mediocre. BUT! Due to the sheer amount of effort Llalta put into both the RP side of things and the lyrics themselves, I felt that it was worthy enough to be listed as an honourable mention. Well done, bud, you earned it. Not to mention that it's pretty much kickstarted a near streak of first-time winners, with Antahbrantahstan winning his second time before Malta Comino Gozo, Beepee and Scotatrova recorded their first ever wins in the contests after, which is another reason to give it praise.
  11. KAMOSHIDA - 100 SECONDS (Kyritakia, WV85). A brilliant bit of German industrial metal that deserved my 12 points at the time. Some good lyrics and a decent amount of RP. What's not to love? In fact, the only reason why it misses out on my top five was simply because I already had a song from WV85 in the list.
  12. EITAN CARREIRA - MELODY (Ertzei Kishim, WV84). MNEK is a musician I'm kind of growing fond of lately. Seriously, the dude's put out a few good tunes and this is one of them. And Ertzei Kishim has done it justice with some lyrics that may not be the best but certainly fit the song itself, some good stage RP and just some high quality stuff all-round. If I didn't have Malta Comino Gozo's winning entry on the list already this would've been a candidate for it.

  • #1: KOLEKTIV IDIS - EHPINSIVCI (Hafamarimet, WV86). Hell. Fucking. Yes. Sure the RP may not be as detailed as the other songs on the list. Sure the lyrics are a bit repetitive. But this, above all, is an incredibly excellent song which more than makes up for these shortcomings. It's a song that remained in my head ever since its release back in 2005, it's a song that gets you completely pumped up to do anything and it's just pure excellence all-round. While I feel like one of the bigger nations would've made it even more detailed and everything, it's still excellent enough to take my top spot.

I might not do another one next year. We'll see.

(EDIT: Fixed typo and cleared something up, fixed mistake, fixed where I got the WRONG ENTRY NAME!)

Ronen Bellegarde to represent Estogium at WV87!

Postby Estogium » Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:46 pm

Estogium participating instead of Nightom, sorry!

Brito-Estogian, Ronen Bellegarde, to represent Estogium at the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest!

Image

Meeting Ronen Bellegarde...

21-year-old Ronen Bellegarde from Araparta in the south of Britonisea is set to represent Britonisea at the WorldVision Song Contest. He's hoping he can better the 7th place the country scored last edition in Antahbrantahstan...

LISTEN TO THE SONG TODAY

Estogium is back after what has been a disastrous decade for the nation. The nation needed a break...

When chatting to Ronen on THE BIG REVEAL: Estogium, he admitted that he had submitted the song to both the Estogian and Britonish broadcasters, due to the song being written by a team of Estogians and Britons and because of his personal close connection with Estogium - with his mother having been born in Darlington. Ronen was selected to represent Britonisea, but he wasn't expected to be the entrant for Britonisea at least until 2021. The Estogian broadcaster, however, decided to get back to Ronen, wanting him to represent the country at the upcoming 87th WorldVision Song Contest and thus to the dismay of BITC, Ronen became the official Estogian act for Estogium. Ronen performed his song at the end of the show, with it going live for Estogians to stream ahead of the Friday Charts update on the 18th December. He has stiff competition in Estogians due to the Christmas period, with many songs vying to be Christmas #1 on the 25th. With the WorldVision Song Contest happening on the 16th January 2021, this was the earliest Estogium revealed their WorldVision entry for a very long time, Ronen is hoping that the early release will help get even more Estogians backing the song.

Announcements!

By unanimous vote, the Committee has agreed to make some changes to the rules:

1. Nations must be signed up before the host bid/WVC candidacy deadline, in order to vote for host bid and WVC. You can still sign up after the host bid deadline, you just won't be able to vote for bids/WVC. This is to ensure we don't have people signing up just to vote for a bid. (It's been on the OP for host bid, but we'd just like to make sure everyone is clear on it + include WVC elections)
Also, we're making it official now that those who vote in the WVC elections have to be previous WV participants- it's been implemented before but subsequently forgotten.

2. The host now gets access to the televote calculation sheet alongside the WVC! Congrats Polk, you get to be the first to be involved now!

Thanks for reading, and good luck in WV87, all!

Hi everybody! I know everyone is working hard to get their entries in before the deadline and I'm wishing all of you the best of luck in order to get that done. I just wanted to remind everyone that the Google Form is still up and running so if you have not filled this out yet, please go ahead and do so! Otherwise you will not receive a postcard.
