Good morning I'm Stephanie Waldorf, and welcome back to Gossip Weekly! Two days ago, we reported devastating news that terrorism strikes Area-06 once again. I will do a short and summarized a play by play of the disaster for those who weren't able to view the live coverage!

Image

At exactly 9:28 AM this morning, the city of Cerulean was shooked to its core as multiple explosives erupted from the famed and extravagant Axiom Hotel.

Within seconds after the explosion, the city ordered a mandatory evacuation of the city center to the suburbs, where the cities elite opened their chateaux to the refugees.

For a long and grueling hour, the cities fire department tried their best to tame the fire, but due to the Axiom's rapid instability, the city deemed the building a lost cause.

At 11:21 AM, the Axiom's steel beam supports at levels 13-21 failed, and the building soon collapsed. The Pearl Apartments, Les Galeries Lafayette shopping center, the Schnee Mining Companies regional Headquarters, and many other high-rises were heavily damaged.

At 5:00 PM, Officials reported 376 casualties, 82 Heartfilians, and 294 others. Among the casualties were socialites Clemensia Rhodes, Felix Grimaldi, Niklaus Pruitt, and most importantly, heiress of the Blossom Lumber Industry and all their vast fortunes, Glimmer Blossom.

At 5:48 PM, A group calling themselves the "Destroyers of Heartfilia" hacked the region's Gossip Weekly page and uploaded a video in which they claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Axiom Hotel.

Yesterday, military officials were able to locate the origins of the video and the terrorist group. Officials revealed radicals to be in a small and hidden encampment 271 Km north of Cerulean. Unfortunately, due to an unknown and unfortunate anomaly, the orders were corrupted. Instead of raiding the encampment, the corrupted order instructed the military to invade an island nation of Californis instead.

Image

It's funny because all the anger that was supposed to go towards the terrorists went towards the small island republic. Burning cities, subduing the native populace, and all the other things that would happen in a routine invasion conducted by Heartfilia. In other news, the Blossom family has agreed in a public statement that they will happily pay for the funerals for all the Heartfilians that lost their lives that day. Also, a quick reminder that a Glimmer Blossoms funeral parade has been scheduled for Wednesday next week.
Anyways, that's all we have today, I'm Stephanie Waldorf, and this was Gossip Weekly; Goodbye!

Frezko recaptures Baltás
Markus Illydichsson, FRZ

(FRZ) - The royal government has issued a statement earlier this morning regarding the successful and peaceful recapture of Cape Baltás and its surrounding areas, located in the Ossanian landmass of Meridia. The territory, first reached by some of the first Cestean explorers around the year 900, was ceded to the government of the Ossanian nation in 1766 under the Treaty of Ostore. Since then, it has also been part of the nations of Ryandory and Auruum.

Image

The area has been plagued by economic and political uncertainty following the most recent fall of the local government.
“In an effort to protect the significant cultural and political integrity of the peninsula, the inhabitants of this mountainous region have been cooperative with the Frizch government in this very special event for both of us.”, said a Frizch spokesperson. This acquisition also helps to strenghten the Maritime Free Trade Zone, as the territories' Frizch status now makes navigation between Frezko and other MFA members (the Oceani Empire and the islands of Jiqaz) easier than ever before.

Following the statement issued this morning, the Frizch flag now waves over the Baltás Peninsula once more.

Information regarding the administration of this new territory will be released in the following hours.

Skjolduri Expedition in Rusina Triggers Naval Action
Noctish Central News Agency - Sidyma, Goryevdre

Image

-----

Noctish naval forces have been put on high alert following news of Skjolduri movements into the coastal heartland of northwestern Rusina, along the vital east-west trade corridor through the Salt Sea. Naval forces in the Kotyma, Archonakadia, and Eristys have been mobilized and put on full military readiness. Two task forces of the Sintuvelic fleet have been dispatched to enforce a naval quarantine of the zone of Skjolduri military activities, to deprive the area and its Skjolduri military attachment of any supply. This force is expected to be accompanied by further contingents of the Noctish Navy in the coming days, even as other forces are establishing checkpoints in other areas of Noctish territorial waters.

An official statement was issued earlier this morning by the Secretariat of Defence, the current Secretary of Defence Porvhiria Vosdoiwak calling the Skjolduri expedition and establishment of what they call a 'military territory' in the Salt Sea "a move that serves nothing to the Skjolduri interest but presents nothing short of a direct existential and military threat to the survival of the Noctish Confederation and its territories. It is clear that this move by the Skjolduri - in establishing a territory with military presence so far from their homeland or any other theatres they are operating in - is meant to pose a direct threat to us. For what end, we do not know, but we will nip this threat in the bud while we can." The statement was accompanied by newsreel clips of Noctish naval forces now operating in that particular zone of the Salt Sea.

To halt this offensive buildup, a strict quarantine on all offensive military equipment under shipment to the Skjolduri expedition is being initiated. All ships travelling through the affected areas of the Salt Sea will be searched by naval forces of the Noctish Confederation. Any ships carrying cargoes of offensive military equipment found travelling through the affected sea zones will be ordered to turn back. Any Skjolduri ships in the zone will be detained immediately and their crews arrested. This quarantine will be extended, if needed, to other types of cargo.

Fishin' Buddies
Re-Establishment of Republic Control Along the Border of the Skjoldurian Colony of Vinland
Proceeds Without Incident and/or Unnecessary Noise that Might Scare the Fish

Image
Fishing boats of the F.H.R. and the Skoldurian colony of Vinland mingle as they prepare for the day near the new border.

SOBABIEN—The National Commercial Fishers Union reported yesterday that the first catch brought in by boats registered to the Foundhome Republic have arrived at the reconstituted and re-certified Jolly Halibut Canning plant, located about 290KM northeast of Sobabien. While this was notable in and of itself, the monetary prize for the biggest catch that day did not go to a F.H.R. flagged vessel at all, but to one flying the colonial flag of Vinland, the overseas territory of Skjoldur that the Foundhome Republic now borders. The purchasing of fish from vessels flagged to Vinland until the Republic builds up its own fleet of commercial fishing vessels in the area was a controversial topic when first broached, but has served its purpose of preventing any hard feelings that may result from the Golden Letters Flag appearing that far north.

"They're pretty good fishers," says Gwen Trang, owner of the F.V. Sweaty Manatee, "you can see how they learned the techniques of our ancestors who used to live in this part of Epilo, and have given it a neat foreign, Strei-Ar style flourish all their own." Asked whether she thinks that having foreign flagged vessels supplying Foundhomish consumers could lead to issues, Trang answers, "I mean sure, maybe in the future. But we have to trust that everyone's gonna do what is best for themselves. For folks like us," she says, nodding towards a Vinnish flagged vessel nearby, "what's best for ourselves is not to do anything that scares the fish, you see."

Arthur Hwong, Superintendent of the Jolly Halibut Seafood Rendering & Canning Plant #1, agrees. "Well, I can't say it's bad or it's good, it just is, and so far it's working out for the best. Someday we'll have a fleet of ships big enough to take care of our own demand. Hopefully that'll get the price fer mackerel down a touch, but until then who's it hurtin' to let the Vinnies drop their catch here, eh? Here, take some cod home to the family... just stuff it in yer pockets, there ya go!"

The lack of drama over the Foundhome Republic's fishing rights mirrors a larger recovery of lost administrative territory along the border. As the lights come back on all over Northern Epilo, national leaders are hoping that the ease with which the borders with Alexandrovsk were re-established would be replicated in restoring government services in the northeastern jungles and coasts as well. The dropping of a few hundred tons of fresh fish seems to agree with that. "It was good to see," said Lt. Phen Michaelson, as he tallies tuna being unloaded. As the local representative of the Coast Guard, he assists the Department of Oceanic Conservation—part of the National Wilderness Resources Protection Bureau—in maintaining the agreed upon quotas. "We really want to get along with these people. Especially while things are getting back to normal."

The government of the Foundhome Republic has taken a minimalist approach to re-assuring the restoration of its borders, generally allowing local officials in the border territories and the Lost Lands of the interior to take a lead. However, as for larger implications, the national government is prepared to take up any slack. "We let the local governments meet the fishers of Vinland where they were," adds Michaelson, "and when it comes time for the bigger stuff, we'll let Coralaken F.D. step in." Asked whether he had met any of the native peoples of Vinland—as the Skjolduri have taken to naming ancient Dongbac—among the crews of the fishing boats, or if they were entirely crewed by settlers from Strei-Ar he turns a bit sheepish and states, "I really hadn't noticed one way or the other."

The lands that have been claimed by the Foundhome Republic represent the largest area alongside an existing border that the nation has claimed as restored to central authority ever since the Bad Day.

Spokesmen for the regional authorities say that they have been in contact with national government. The progression of events seems to indicate that going forward, the Foundhome Republic and the Skjolduri Colony of Vinland can continue a cordial and amiable relationship... fishing buddies, as it were. Asked if she would like to make a statement on the record to pass along to the Colonial Governor of Vinland, known as a "Jarl," Jarl Bjorn, or even the King of Skjoldur himself, King Kartjen, fisherwoman states, "Sure! Don't be a stranger, either of ya! Stop on by, and I'll give ya each a big old grouper or two to fry on up! Try 'em with onions and olive oil. Can't ask for better eatin'!"

Nearby, the crew of the Vinland flagged fishing boat shouted in agreement.

Rapid expansion into the desert

Postby Aexorouwyth » Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:58 pm

Aexorouwyth has attempted to rapidly expand into the desert for the precious resources. Aexorouwyth has mobilised at least 10k soldiers and 500 vehicles to the desert to negotiate with the natives. The natives refused to hand over their land, so the King ordered an invasion. The tribes stood no chance against the Aexo army, and were decimated. Aexorouwyth seized the lands that belonged to tribes that no longer exist.

Photo of soldiers marching into combat

The war to conquer the former states of the Ancedonian Empire are getting extremely expensive for both the rivals and Aexorouwyth, thus a temporary truce has been reached. The King of Aexorouwyth, King Retya the 4th, has demanded the other states to release the prisoners, in return for their prisoners back. Most of the states have released a portion of the prisoners back, and true to his word, Retya has released a portion of the prisoners.

Conquest of the Eastern Straits
Noctish Central News Agency - Motrakastru, Ikaria Province

Image

The confederal government issued a statement earlier this morning in regards to the successful and largely peaceful occupation of several islands in the Violet Sea, as well as the large Satyrin peninsula on the southern coast of Rusina. The territory, which encompasses part of the Satirin region, was formerly part of the Iryllian state, referred to in Noctish historiography as the "Violet Empire", from which the aforementioned sea derives its name. Following the mass instability, destruction, and chaos in the wake of the Great Rusinic War, the islands and peninsula became severely depopulated, albeit a haven for piracy and banditry in the Violet Sea and the Iryllian Strait.

In an effort to "protect one of the most important trade routes in the world", through which trade from Western Rusina, Archon, and Eristys flows alongside trade from Eastern Rusina, Epilo, and Diyu, detachments of mainland Noctish forces have been dispatched to ensure the islands' security and remove the threat of piracy from the region. Although part of Rusina, it is intended for the islands to be governed under a separate administration from Kotyma, the Noctish mainland, until the territories are stable and developed enough to be welcomed into Noctia's loving embrace. Occupation of the outlying islands of the Iryllian Strait also provides an ample launch-pad for anticipated future actions in the Satyrin region, a key priority for the mainland government.

It's a Bug Hunt, Man! A Bug Hunt!
The Foundhome Republic's borders may be creepy-crawling northwards, but it's entomologists who are getting antsy about
all of the new opportunities being presented.

Image
Be they as cute as the specie of moth above, or more creepy and crawly, interesting, unique, or downright bizarre and gross,
the new territories team with insects to discover.

LANGGIUA—"The national bird shouldn't be the turkey," states Central Langgtrung University Professor of Entimology Dwayne Phuong, "it should be the mosquito." Phuong, along with a number of research assistants and unsteady looking interns make their way through the deep, dark night—stringing up a fine mesh net as they go. Even as they carefully pick their way among the underbrush their small headlamps are already attracting a number of locals—local insects, that is. The number of bugs fluttering around in their lamps make it look like the team are making their way forward through a driving snowstorm. "As we re-enter areas that have been lost to the Republic since the Bad Day, we're finding that the insect population is among the first to rebound after humanity abandoned the place. It remains to be seen if this is the result of the lack of human influence—such as the loss of greenhouse factors during the worldwide population disappearances—or if it has to do with holes in the food web. In any case, it's pretty interesting to see how many species there are in these lands that the Republic is reclaiming."

In the darkness, the net comes up, and a series of arc lights snap to life. At first there are merely a few flutters and buzzes. But, within moments, the sound of a jet airliner overcomes the scene, and a swarm of insects of uncountable species come rushing in, drawn to the piercing light. "It's marvelous, simply incredible," says Lepidopterist Xuan Garrot, "I've never seen so many in one place." All Garrot must do to begin her studies is lift her hand. Within seconds her exposed flesh is being explored by three large butterflies and a brace of moths, each gently lapping at the salt on her fingers. "It was always going to be interesting to see just how the pollinating species survived after our disappearance, but this is beyond our hopes. If all humans on this planet were to disappear all at once—and never come back, unlike we did—the biological record would shrug and go 'Meh.' However, if we lost all of these pollinating insects, the devastation would be unrecoverable. This is why I'm advocating for most of these recovered territories be turned over to the Natural Park Department. Things are still very fragile, and we don't want to lose what we've just so recently gotten back."

The territories that are being reclaimed lay north of eastern and central Foundhome Republic, and represent the furthest incursion into the humid, subtropical heart of Northern Epilo—prime real estate for insects of all types. Yet, there are those who view the bugs here as more than just pretty. Some see real opportunities for research, chemical development, and pure monetary gain. Among those who are "strictly commercial" in their approach to the bugs within our new borders is Corporate Scientist and Noted Entomophobe Bill "Bugsy" Nzuyen. "AAAaaagghhh!" screams Nzuyen, racing around in the dark, any number of flies and beetles following in his wake as he points out various charts showing the unique chemicals that compose or are secreted by insects. Those secretions are presents as he bats at himself as yells "Aaagh! Aaaarrrr! Aaaghhhhh!" and rolls around on the loam of the tropical floor, kicking wildly at a report that suggests that the number of chemical compounds found in insects that have medical uses are simply staggering. Reduced to a whimpering puddle, Nzuyen curls up into a fetal position, unable or unwilling to defend himself as millipedes, ants, and termites make their way across his prostrate form and his laptop falls to the ground nearby and begins playing a pre-recorded infotainment segment about the future of the protein industry and the ease with which meat substitutes can be made from insects.

"Meat substitutes? Are you kidding me?" says intern Kanoa Turner, as he stuffs a leaf insect in his mouth. "Why would we mess with what ain't broken? The insects provided food for our ancestors just the way they are. Maybe some could be fried, but hey... oh, wait, that one was toxic. My bad." He turns away and begins vomiting violently, but his point remains valid.

"No matter what use—to the benefit of the planet or man—the new territories provide to the Foundhome Republic," concludes Phuong, "the reality is that be it our ancestors, the nations that lived here during our absence, or ourselves now, we are just tenants. In reality, it's a bug's life."

Empress Sivir Married to Gaius Octavius Trajanus, Possible Alliance with Rome? Province of Satyrin Expanded.
Noctish Central News Agency - Neustri, Neustrivos Province

Image

In a lavish, grandiose ceremony of red and blue that brought the entire capital city of Neustri to a week-long halt, our Empress Sivir Celreos was wed to Prince Octavius Trajanus, one of the many sons of the Roman Emperor. The surprise union is the result of months, if not years, of a secret romance between the two, and perhaps an even more intense period of negotiations between the two states. Many hope that the union will help usher in a new era of peace and stable relations with the Romans, a state with which we've had terse relations with over the past decades. More cynical minds, however, proclaim that no marriage between state leaders can outweigh the security risks posed by Rome - both its presence in Eristys and its influence in Rusina proper are cited as untenable threats to Noctish sovereignty. Nevertheless, the vast majority are confident that the two states - probably the two most powerful political entities in the Charter - will be able to avoid conflict between each other.

In the wake of this marriage ceremony, calls have been made for the military regency - led by the Supreme Commander Meroveu Thuza - to allow the Empress to finally, and officially, sit upon the throne. The Noctish throne has been officially vacant for the past seven decades, ever since Sivir's great-grandfather Gustavos III was overthrown by the Aveksenites, a hardline faction within the military. Officially, the country is under the thumb of a regency, merely awaiting the return of a "rightful monarch"; unofficially, however, the military junta has remained in the seat of power for the past seventy years with little change. Minor demonstrations have taken place in cities across Noctia, calling for the monarchy to be finally restored. With the rival nations of Rusina destroyed, many argue, there is now no need for a military government in power, one that has [REDACTED].

In other news, operations in the Province of Satyrin have expanded, as more land along the province's coast has been brought under the firm control of the Noctish army. Local authorities have made clear their plan to "bring Satyrin to a place of prominence" in the region, "as part of the wider Rusinic world, now led by Noctia." Inland operations are expected to begin in a few months, as Noctish forces aim to secure the northern areas of the province, a key transportation route around the Paryadric mountain chains, that define Noctia's northern borders, to the states of eastern Rusina.

Crushing Heights
Word of the Foundhome Republic Being Named Best Country in the Fifth Sovereign Charter—and the crippling depression that comes with such a heavy burden—reaches the newest territories to be Claimed by the Republic

Image

"Seriously?" A member of the Northern Research and Recovery Expedition pauses in disbelief and disappointment after being told that the Foundhome Republic has received international accolades. The rest of the nation is also attempting to deal with the frustrating development.

AARANOUTRWAR—Explorations in the newest territories claimed by the Foundhome Republic came to a standstill on Friday, as the members of the Northern Research & Recovery Expedition paused to join in with the rest of the nation in a moment of solidarity, prayer and reflection. For many of the members of the expedition, the announcement was the first time that they had heard about the tragic event that had befallen the Foundhome Republic in the previous days. Emerging from outer levels of the jungles onto the vast savannas that occupy the new territories, many of the scientists, cartographers, and associated members of the expedition had only heard the news moments ago, or were only learning of it as they entered the media tent at expedition headquarters. Many were noticeably shaken, with some sobbing being heard. All seemed disappointed and depressed.

The news that The Democratic States of the Foundhome Republic had been named "Best Nation in the Fifth Sovereign Charter" has shocked and appalled the entirety of the nation. Members of the nation's mental health community began warning citizens not to take the news personally, and that no individual could be blamed for causing such unwarranted attention and praise to be heaped upon our country. People joined together in Coralaken F.D. and marched up to Government House to implore the president not to resign. The interior director has stated that the president has not suggested that he would do so, but that he was "pretty bummed out about it."

In the new territories claimed by the Foundhome Republic, exploration comes to a standstill as the explorers, scientists, and researchers ask themselves the same question that most Foundhomians are asking: How is this possible, and how can we go on being so widely praised and applauded? "I don't know who or what the international organization is that decreed such a thing," says archeo-diplomat James Kihn, "but I wish they had consulted with us first. We could have given them plenty of reasons to rank us lower. Amirak never returns our telegrams, and I don't think we've ever even tried to speak with Cambrium. We certainly did not deserve this honor from a foreign affairs perspective."

Research scientist Kyaw Gordon wonders if the exploration of the new territories itself could have resulted in this disastrous appreciation of the Foundhome Republic. "We've made so many new discoveries here in the territories that we've reclaimed after the bad day that our scientists may have gotten big heads. We should have pointed out how far we lag behind other countries in so many areas. I really hope that we can go back to being the scrappy up-and-comer soon. It's just too much work having people countries, and a planet looking up to you all of the time."

Corporate Researcher Franklin Aung agrees. "If our exploration of these new territories is going to make it look like we're some sort of economic powerhouse, then we really need to stop and wonder about the unanticipated outcomes of everyone in the Charter thinking that we're competent at this money stuff," he says, putting away his discover gear and focusing on his reports. 'We don't want to be noticed. It's super uncomfortable."

Expedition headquarters remains silent throughout the remainder of the day, and short-wave radios cackle in the gathering dusk as members of the expedition try to retrieve more news, contact family, or just distract themselves from the depressing realization that they are now respected, contributing, and admirable. "It's almost too much to bear," says one last explorer as the lights dim around camp, and the expedition settles in for the night. "Hopefully our government will mess something up soon, or some other country will free all of their slaves or something and everyone will give them laud and honors instead."

As tension rises between several nations, Aexorouwyth quickly secures a path that directly connects to Harif, Aexorouwyth's ally in the Natufian war. Aexorouwyth met no resistance in their expansion, allowing it to be a quick process.

"We appreciate the chance to conduct the survey into this incredibly important archaeological site," agrees the young archaeologists, "but what's up with the matching team colors and trivia questions?"

LANGGIUA—The Northern Research & Recovery Expedition was proud to announce this week that it had rediscovered one of the principal heritage sites of the Lost Lands, and one of the most important cultural touchstones of the Foundhome Republic. The Hidden Temple of Olmec features greatly in the surviving history of the Lost Lands, appearing principally in the tales told by the ancestors of the indigenous peoples of the region, and being integrated into the myths of several component cultures from which the Foundhome Republic draws its lineage. Speaking to the researchers via satellite phone, the president invoked one of the ancient myths surrounding the temple when he said, "Remember, you can cheat by listening to the studio audience. They'll usually start screaming louder when one of the temple guards are near!"

The Temple of Olmec has already begun offering up several important clues about the people who once worshiped, sheltered, and conducted commerce there. Traditional techniques of archaeological discovery are being used, such as forensic botany, grid disposition, and structural erosion analysis. However, the temple itself offers up a chance to conduct brand new technique in anthropological discovery. "I've often wished that—when I've entered historic places—the walls would be able to tell me their stories," says expedition member Julia Som. "But now that it's actually happening, I actually kinda wish he'd shut up every one in a while."

Image

Junior archaeologists of the Northern Research & Recovery Expedition interview Olmec. Most attempt to discuss the importance of the socio-economic, theological, and cultural aspects of the temple and to use the scientific method to determine the validity of myths and legends surrounding the temple. Most only receive trivia questions in response.

The Head of Olmec is one of the Wonders of the Fifth Sovereign Charter. As reported in the myths of the place, the stone head has glowing eyes, and a mouth that appears to move under the correct lighting conditions. Also, the mouth also appears to speak in rhymes and clues about where to find tokens redeemable for prizes inside the temple. Currently, researchers are unable to describe the mechanism by which the head appears to do these things. "Most likely it's just the wind passing through a series of artificial pipes within the cavern behind the head filled with swamp gasses refracting through various stalactites and a stalagmites or stuff like that I guess," states acoustic pathologist Ramon Phon, adding "if we ignore him, he'll probably shut up, eventually, maybe."

As the Foundhome Republic advances north, adding additional territories lost during The Bad Day, it encounters surviving members of our heritage cultures. Some of these still reside around in and around the temple and its grounds. These include the temple guards of legend, which were reported to be cannibalistic, militaristic killing machines, devoted to the temple and to Olmec, defending its secrets to the death. Like most myths, there is more of fantasy to this than truth.

Image

A temple guard surprises a young researcher. The guard will go on to escort the researcher out of the temple before retiring to the break room to get some coffee and a doughnut and waiting for the commercial break to end.

"They were quite intimidating at first," admits expedition member Lucielle Nihm, "but after I was caught for the first time, the guard just took the golden token thing I found under the silver monkey statue in the one room, patted me on the shoulder, and escorted me out of the temple to where my research partner was waiting." The presence of the temple guards raises serious questions about how the aboriginal people of the area should be re-introduced to Foundhomian society—and if they should be left alone. However, for those exploring the temple, the more practical questions of the moment concern how to interact with these mythological figures who have suddenly become very real. "They seem cool with it," said researcher Paul Ngon, "when we were both escorted out, they said we could try to get back to the hieroglyphics we were discyphering when the next episode started—whatever that means. We waited half and hour and just went about our business."

Whatever comes of the temple, it is clear that more awaits the Northern Research & Recovery Expedition—namely all of the one-week family vacations for four to famous amusement parks that they won from Olmec.

Northern Deserts Brought into the Fold

King Chisolm II has recently appointed his son and heir Hayden as head of a recent expedition into the northern Covenen Desert, bringing the local Coven tribes into Bandiaterran control. It is wondered when this push to expand will diminish, but it seems rather unlikely that will happen soon

Animal Species in Northern Savannas are Diverse, Inspiring, and Mostly Jerks
Naturalists are amazed with the large number and vastly different kinds of animals being discovered in the Lost Lands, but are unimpressed with their social skills.

Image
A Northern Giant Pygmy Elephant swings a Jockstrap Monitor around and around before flinging it through the air for no apparent reason other than because it's an utter twat.

AARANOUTRWAR—Naturalists and biologists in the Northern Research & Recovery Expedition have made several important discoveries in recent weeks pertaining to the nature and characteristics of the fauna species that live in the Lost Lands. As the expedition advances further and further into the Lost Lands and other adjoining territories that are being claimed by the Republic more and more animals that live in the savanna regions that those areas encompass are becoming known. "It's really no surprise that grazing mammals are found up here," says macro-biologist Terry Manivong. "We've seen examples of these kinds of animals playing parts in the myths and legends, artwork and decorations of many of the integral cultures that make up the Foundhome Republic. What we weren't expecting was to discover what huge pricks these animals all are. I mean, wow... they're all just [REDACTED], complete and total [REDACTED], you know what I mean?"

Asked to provide an example, investigative naturalist Catherine Xiong recites an observation she recently made. "We observed a herd of Bespectacled Zebra make their way up to an elevated area overlooking where a pack of Desmond's Elongated Hunting Dogs were sleeping in shrubs. The hunting dogs are not active during this time of exceptional heat, and were simply sleeping during the hottest parts of the day. All at once the zebra began bleating and neighing. They were all making a real racket, it was awful. It sounded like the cheap seats at Mygen Field when the Annawan Paper Tigers are down six runs in the eighth inning and the vendors are out of beer. It was that bad. The noise woke the dogs and eventually they were forced to leave the area. It would make sense if the zebra felt threatened by the dogs, but the Elongated Hunting Dogs rarely if ever hunt adult Bespectacled Zebra, and the zebra lost their prime grazing time period to do so. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that the zebra are just dickheads. Real knobs, you know? Complete bellends."

"We had been out from our camp for most of the day doing survey work," states Expedition Lead Surveyor Matthew Phommachanan. "When we returned we found that a herd of Randy Gazelle had crapped all over our campsite. Their little round droppings—the size of marbles—were just everywhere. It was horrific. They must have been holding it for days. They made a point to make sure it got into our backpacks, sleeping bags, and in our food stocks. What an utterly lousy thing to do. They even tinkled on my cans of Gumption Soda. Do you know how hard it is to find Gumption Soda, let alone out here in the lost lands? What a bunch of [REDACTED]. I hope that lions kill each of them, slowly... in front of their families."

This news comes as a bit of a blow to the Foundhome Republic's thriving Eco-tourism industry. The Republic ranks 2nd in the Fifth Sovereign Charter in terms of environmental appreciation, and 4th in tourism. "It had been my hopes that we'd be able to entice many of the tourists who come to the southern part of the F.H.R. to see the vast array of wildlife and plants in the subtropical wetlands and jungles located there to come north and see the abundant wildlife," states Lynda Keo, owner of Peaceable Kingdom Ecology Tours, "as that would have taken some of the pressure off of those ecosystems, and created new opportunities. But, look, that gazelle just tripped that antelope! Did you see that? Man! Most people aren't going to want to come see animals that are just a bunch of [REDACTED]. Or, in any case, the types of people that do aren't the type I want to spend a week on a photo safari with at any rate."

Farther along, Natural Resources Defense Council census taker Diane Nguyen sits and sighs as she reviews video footage she had taken. "I thought I had captured footage of the rare Epillian Flatulated Hippopotamus basking in the water hole, she says. "Instead I just got a video of them bullying an alligator. Jerks. I miss the Epillian Capybaras I used to work with back at the National Zoo in Coralaken F.D. . You wouldn't catch a capybara bullying anyone. Nope... capybaras be as chill as [REDACTED]."

Whatever animals are discovered in the Lost Lands, it is hoped that they will further enhance the understanding of the ecosystems that make up the area. And, also, that they won't steal our lunch money.

His Majesty Welcomes Foundhomian Leader

Postby Frezko Islands » Mon Jun 28, 2021 12:54 pm

His Majesty Welcomes Foundhomian Leader

Image

The event marks the first official visit by a foreign leader to the Frizch Union in more than five years.

GAUDE, FREZKO – Last week, King Kovro and his wife Queen Sonja received the President of the Foundhome Republic at the port of Punt tal-Punent, near the Frizch capital. The foreign leader, who is just beggining his summer vacation, arrived aboard the presidential yacht F.R.S. Breaking Dawn, which was escorted by the light cruiser F.R.S. Staggerer and joined by the Frizch R.U.S. Alboria in the city of Guadaloupe, Province of Azalea. The head of state, his translator and his security detail were greeted by the monarchs and a guard of honour and were then taken by train to the state guest house, Serravalle Palace, in the city of Gaude. After touring the guest house, the Royal Family then went back to the Royal Palace while the Foundhomians settled in.

The President visited numerous areas and neighbourhoods around the Royal Palace, with the notable exception of the famous Pineapple Gardens in Sud Vesuvius. He spent most of his free time chatting with the local population, and fruitlessly trying to learn the Frizch language.

In the mean time, the government issued a Royal Decree that elevated the Governorate of Baltás, located south of Cesta Island and home to one of Frezko's busiest ports, to the rank of a Province within Metropolitan Frezko, a decision that was celebrated by the Baltasean and Cestean Frizchen populations alike.

At around 18 o'clock, during the sunset in Gaude, a ceremony was held at the Viride Hall inside the Royal Palace in which the foreign head of state was bestowed with the country's highest honor, the Grand Collar of the Order of the Eternal Ocean, as a gesture of appreciation for what the government described as “the continued promotion and celebration of unique Epilean cultures to the international community”. The event concluded with speeches from both leaders. The ministers of State (Mario Atrahason) and Foreign Affairs (Nitoran Zerca) were also present at this event.

Following the award ceremony, a state dinner for the heads of state and the Frizch government was hosted inside the Royal Dining Room, in the eastern wing of the palace.

It is said that the drink selection was composed of Frizch beverages such as Amaretto and Rum, the traditional and beloved Ritorú, water, a variety of Frizch and Shurayan wines and the real star of the menu: a very special sealed bottle of Murphy's Champagne, one of many from His Majesty's personal cellar, and originary from the former nation of the Great Anvils in North Epilo.

After the banquet concluded, the President went back to sleep at Serravalle. On the next morning, he briefly continued to roam around the city, and around 11 o'clock he met with the monarchs at Punt-tal Ponent once again. The leaders then gave their farewells and the Foundhomians boarded the Breaking Dawn.

The Royal and Presidential fleets left the city of Gaude for their next stop in Anvilia, Isle of Lure, where the leader continued his vacation in a more private and laid-back setting. The President is currently travelling to the city of Cerenalo in the Archonian Antilles, where he is expected to stay at the luxurious Hotel Grande Vittoria for an unspecified amount of time before sailing back to the Foundhome Republic.

It's Good to Be (Hosting the) King
Municipalities across the Foundhome Republic anticipate the arrival of the Royal Visit of King Kovro and Queen Sonja of the Frezko Islands.

Residents of Coralaken F.D.'s Pahsho neighborhood hurriedly finish decorating Hushan Street in anticipation of the royal arrival.

CORALAKEN F.D.—Earlier this summer, the President had his summer vacation interrupted by an unexpected and unanticipated awards ceremony. The President was awarded the Grand Collar of the Order of the Eternal Ocean, which he accepted on behalf of the Free Citizens of the Republic. The award itself was granted due to the ongoing efforts of the people of the Republic towards “the continued promotion and celebration of unique Epilean cultures to the international community”. This was the highlight of a grand tour which had been reported in earlier daily editions of the Register.

Awed by the beauty of those islands and the hospitality of the Frezkan peoples, the Home Office quickly extended an invitation to Their Majesties King Kovro and Queen Sonja to visit the Foundhome Republic as guests of the President. "This is a big thing for us," said Communications Director Robert Yuozhong as he dusted the mantelpiece in the main foyer of The People's House. "We haven't had a huge amount of contact with the other leaders of the nations of the Fifth Sovereign Charter ever since the Bad Day, so getting a visit from the monarchs of the Frezko Islands is a big step. Could you hand me the dust spray. Considering that we kinda goofed up and invited ourselves to a big dinner and tour of their homeland I think we need to do this right and be just as hospitable as they were, if not more. Yeah, that's the can I was looking for. Thanks."

Even as the Northern Research and Recovery Expedition continues to re-establish connections to lost Republic territories the path towards becoming a contributing part of the Fifth Sovereign Charter continues forward. "It's true that we are still trying to re-discover ourselves, and that we haven't even come close to regaining all of what we lost before the Bad Day," states Department of the Interior Secretary Kannika Trueland as she polishes the national silver dining set. "Yet, we can't just sit back and pretend that we aren't part of this planet. We are one of the charter's premier tourist attractions, but how often do we travel abroad. Perhaps this visit will affect trade and tourism in both directions," she adds, before spit-shining the candlesticks.

What is anticipated is a whirlwind tour that any visitor to the Republic would envy. The Royal Family will be greeted in Aaranoutrwar, which is appropriate since it is where most of the trade between the two nations is centered. It is also the home of the largest congregation practicing the Frezkan-based religion of Ocanism can be found in the Republic, and services at such have been offered to the king and queen. A private high-speed rail train will then whisk the royal visitors to Coralaken F.D. where the president's niece and daughter will host the official dinner. The following day their majesties will join the president for a two-day cruise across the Great Inner Lake. This is only the seventh time that the presidential yacht Breaking Dawn has traveled this far inland on the canal network. The yacht will arrive in Langgiua, and from there they will be taken on a guided safari to visit with the animals of the region. Finally, the presidential train will taken the King and Queen and their entourage to Sobabien, where His Majesty has been offered the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Sobabien Celebrants home game. "I'm looking forward to seeing what his curve looks like, or maybe even a splitter," Celebrants manager Casey Thawon states with a wink. "If he's any good we'll sign him up!" The Celebrant's mascot—Sammy Celebrant—had no comment but gave a big thumbs up when asked about the coming of the royal party.

Across the country, local shops and neighborhoods are doing all that they can to make the royals feel welcome. "It's not just that we want the King and Queen to feel welcome," says store owner Oliver Yiowa as he trims Coralaken F.D. shop with Frezkan and Foundhomian flags and hangs lanterns in national colors of the countries outside, "but the people who are coming from across the county who just want to catch a glimpse. We want them to see how special this is... and stay to eat in our restaurants and stay in our hotels as well!"

In the big tree outside, we caught up with some more local residents. Having already claimed their spot on Hushan Street in Coralaken F.D.'s working-class Pahsho neighborhood, we asked them what they wanted most out of the royal visit. "I wanna see his sword! Kings still carry swords, right?" David Khaiv (Age 9) asks. "I'd like to ask Queen Sonja what it was like growing up a princess!" adds his sister Jessica Khaiv (Age 7). "And I would like to ask them about the relevancy of hereditary monarchies in contemporary political and economic climates," adds their friend Gloria Khem (Age 7), "and if they'd like to see my hamster. His name is Sprinkles!"

The royal visit is truly something that all are anticipating.—R

Unprovoked attack on Aexorouwyth

Postby Aexorouwyth » Fri Aug 06, 2021 6:09 pm

An unprovoked attack on an Aexorouwythian fort by the Northerners has left many shocked and infuriated. The attack commenced at approximately 9 PM, two days ago. The attack has left 15 Aexorouwythian soldiers dead, and over 23 Northerners dead or captured. Despite being outnumbered, the Aexorouwythian soldiers managed to keep the fort from being captured by the Northerners. Many Aexorouwythians regard this as a victory, and are furious at the unprovoked attack. The fort will be repaired in a few weeks, thanks to the help of many volunteers.

Following the attack on an Aexorouwythian fort, the Empire has used this as an excuse to expand west, deeper into the desert despite the attack coming from the north. The leader of Aexorouwyth claims that this is to destroy a trade route that may or may not exist and to cut off any means of the Northerners escaping into the desert, which the leader claims would pester Aexorouwyth and other nations nearby for years, decades even. Following this claim, some citizens in Aexorouwyth have been attacking anyone with Northerner descent, despite the government emphasising to not attack them.

JIQAZ SENTINEL

Postby Jiqaz » Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:50 pm

Our sources indicate that Minister Thompson of Jioku has pushed the Executive Council to approve of his "Bandoa Project" a project to bring about to the Islinese of what once was known as Lichi Bando, having fled there after Roman claims on what they refer to as the Egg Islands. In a statement to the press, Minister Thompson is quoted saying, "Following an investigation as to international populations of the Islinese, it was found a substantial population remain in the subarctic territory that once was incorporated as Lichi Bando. As such, I am looking to bring this far flung population back into the fold."

In a poll sent to the territory by the Sentinel, as seen below, it was discovered that most of the Bandoan Islinese wish to join Jioku, and the Executive Council is expected to approve of the annexation, with the territory becoming the Jiokun province of Bandoa.

"In regard to the Bandoa Project, which of the following paths do you wish your community to follow"
Remain a separate, independent community: 1.21%
Join Jiqaz as an oversees territory, such as DuBay: 14.43%
Join Jiqaz as an independent province, such as Tungis: 17.58%
Join Jiqaz as a province of Jioku, such as Leximus is with Axrio: 66.78%

Breaking News

To See the Sea
The Northwards Push into the Lost Territories leads the Research & Recovery Corp to the coast.

CORALAKEN F.D.—It's been a long time coming. Yet, since the efforts began to restore the original integrity of the Republic's borders, members of the recovery effort have made contact with dispersed enclaves on the actual shores of the northern sea. Frantic images submitted to the Register show expedition members running down the steep slopes to the very waters of an unidentified natural harbor, each one wanting to the first to reach the waves.

"We've been working so hard... so many long months sleeping in tents," says biologist Carol Hyug, "But to see the shimmering waters, to feel the ocean breeze. It was worth it. It was worth it." She turns away as she begins to become emotional. Many in the group share her sentiment.

"We knew it was here, and each day we knew we were getting closer and closer," states cartographer Yue Williams "and the physical signs of a changing climate and a new biome were all around us for the last few days, making this so tantalizingly close! But, here we are," he adds, tossing a stone into the bay, "we've made it to the sea."

The newly reclaimed lands are quite spectacular, and allow the Republic to begin cementing a hold over its former northern coast. "It's pretty amazing," interjects expedition sociologist Ben Wei, "how different this Mediterranean climate is from the different regions of the Republic. We've gone from hot tropics, to savannas, to now having a whole new sea to explore. Pretty cool, huh?"

The territory in question is just the first of a few claims that the Republic will have to make along the former coastline, including in regions apparently inhabited by a nation which briefly existed in the area very recently. The destruction and loss of that nation remains unexplained, but it adds an air of caution to the otherwise idyllic scene. How could anything so terrible as the compete loss of a country happen in such a paradise. These are questions that the Recovery Corp will have to address as it re-establishes Republic control in the area, and seeks to bring larger population enclaves in the area back into the fold. Yet, today is for watching the waves, and for accepting some praise for a job well done to this point.

"Pretty cool, yeah," answers Williams, adding, "Anybody remember what its name is"? -R

Baniaterran Forces "Vacation" on the Coast

Following a recent military scandal, in which foreign news media claims to have seen Bandiaterran troops occupying the coastal lands north of the nation's official territory, a number of said troops, including several high ranking officials, have approached King Crisholm II in regards to the region's potential upsides if its Covenik populations and territories were incorporated into Bandiaterra proper. King Crisholm is said to have approached his advisors in regards to such an expansion, with his son, Prince Hayden, being quotes as saying, "Is there any reason not to?" None of the advisors had a comment to say, either for fear of royal retaliation or for having personal ambitions towards the coastal lands.
