Ophelia gave Marie a wavering smile as the Queen entered Alastair's room with a plastic bag slung around her wrist. Marie set the bag on the foot of Alastair's bed and rummaged through it for half a second before extracting a knit cap with a shade somewhere in the olive green family. Unfolding it, she revealed the hat's elongated ears that stuck out like fabric leaves; Ophelia, unable to help herself, giggled softly.

"Is that a Yoda hat?"

"Aye, Mom. We also got him a little scarf to drape around his shoulders."

"How funny! You and Wilhelm are really going all out on the Star Wars theme." Ophelia's eyes swept over the paper banners and the garlands that were draped all around the walls. There was one banner over the viewing window that proudly featured cutouts of R2-D2 and C-3PO, and another extending from above the door and all the way along the right wall showing Darth Vader wishing a Happy Halloween. The streamer on the wall behind Alastair showed figures of assorted characters designed to look like skeletons, while the fourth wall displayed posters of Chewbacca, Han Solo, and the Death Star.

"We wanted him to feel more at home while he is here. And...comfortable." Marie trailed off, frowned at the hat in her hands.

Ophelia turned to her son, who was sound asleep under his blankets. He still had on the black hat she had given him to keep his head warm; it was slightly askew, exposing his mop of overgrown hair. Compared to the mocha curls, his skin was practically white, and would have blended into the sheets were it not for the yellow tint.

"I may leave these with you since he is still asleep."

"'Tis perfectly fine. I can dress him when he has breakfast."

His right hand was cold, so cold, even though Ophelia was fervently rubbing it. Her husband's hand had been similarly icy toward the end.

But Allie was getting better. His brain injury was healing. He was able to remain sitting up for a few minutes at a time. The other day, he'd smiled at her a little. She hadn't seen Allie smile in months.

"Thank you--truly, for everything. You have been a blessing over the past three months." Marie hastily adjusted her purse as she addressed Ophelia with gratefulness flickering across her eyes. To be in the position Ophelia had occupied for years must be so shocking and disorienting to her, and for it to happen right after losing her father-in-law....

"If you need anything at all, do not hesitate to call me. Promise?"

"If I have the time today."

"You will stop by at some point before the ball, right? Uh, the shindig?"

"I will be with the visitation groups, so yes. My God, there are so many of them. You would think he was a tourist exhibit or something." She jogged toward Alastair's side and quickly kissed his forehead. "You are very popular, you know? Lots of your friends are seeing you today."

"He is very popular. I do not think he even knows how liked he is." Ophelia was not sure if Allie saw how much his family loved him anymore. He'd done so much to drown himself in his grief at the expense of his relationships and well-being that he was almost a stranger to her now. Her sweet, funny boy had become a wounded shell with a severe addiction and a death sentence. It had happened right before her eyes, yet she had never noticed. He'd done everything he could to hide it.

She understood now that he'd been afflicted for years. Flawless hindsight lent her a discernment whenever she reminisced about all of the times he had seemed dejected, lost in thought, or out of sorts. He had been drunk when he'd spaced out diplomatic functions, drunk when he was sworn in to accept his father's duties when he had fallen ill, drunk during the period seven years ago when he'd very nearly had a psychological break. Even at her husband's funeral, he was inebriated, his eyes a vivid cherry and his movements uncoordinated. Ophelia had believed him to be exhausted from grief the way she was, but now she realized that he was overrun by something far worse.

"Ja, many of the leaders love him." Once again, Marie gave Allie a kiss. "I will be back anon. Until then, fare the well."

"God be with you."

In his sleep, Allie shuddered. Ophelia reached out with one of her hands and drew the blankets closer to his neck. He really did look ill, with the tube protruding from his throat and the IVs embedded in his arms. There was even one sticking out of the back of his hand. But he was still Alastair, her firstborn son, her Star Wars and Hamlet-loving goofball. He needed her now more than ever to remind him that he was loved.

7:30 AM

The Grand Jacobean Hotel

The bleary-eyed, jet-lagged, and in many cases hungover leaders made their way to the private banquet room where they were to be served breakfast. Some had donned clothes for the day while others were still in their pajamas in spite of the hotel's dress code. Many made a beeline for the buffet tables that had been draped with white linen cloths for the food displayed in silver dishes and vessels, some immediately chose where to sit, and still others began to form a line for the waffle makers. Serving staff weaved through the patrons, doling out teabags and pouring them coffee upon each individual's request. Mimosas were brought out on silver platters for those who were of age (and all present were of age), as were small favors. Every guest received upon entrance a Shakespeare action figure that denoted which Alastair visit/tour group they were assigned; everyone who wished had a set time and cohort with whom they would visit Alastair.

Blushing through the green hide at the glass brought before her, the President grabs at her left blouse cuff and looks around for an out. She forgot to mention something somewhat important, and she's now kicking herself for it as now there's a bit of a bother.
"Oh, uh, sorry 'bout that, I suppose I oughta mention I don't drink alcohol, never have... my apologies. Would any one 'a you like to take this drink off me? I'm just gonna go see if I can grab myself a cup 'a tea..."
Kicking her legs lightly, enough to make the knee-length un-poodled poodle skirt wave a little, she awkwardly fiddled around with her clothes a little, straightening out the matching gray waistcoat and making sure her pocket square was in the right place. After all that was done with, she just sat with her fingers through the opposite finger-web waiting for a response.

Lord Bodie wanders around sleepily in his Switzerland Slippers™, and sees some food.

He groggily walks over to it and starts grabbing up some steak, his favorite.

He bit into it and was instantly reminded of home, from when he was a young boy in the Alps, and his parents would cook a nice cow for dinner every weekend.

Sylvia Lucienne Dellamorte and Julienne Victoria Dellamorte both yawned softly in sync. Earlier in the morning, they had gotten themselves dressed up for the party. Sylvia was dressed as Bernkastel, the Witch of Miracles. Julienne was dressed as Lamdadelta, the Witch of Certainty. Though they had already been awake, they were still a bit tired from the early morning.

So, naturally, after waiting in line, the two got themselves a decently-sized stack of waffles and sat down to begin their breakfast. They had also politely asked for some coffee to help themselves wake up. The twins were happily sipping their caffeine in between bites of the fluffy and fruity waffles.

Looking around, the girls found themselves eying everyone, silently rating and judging their costumes for this little Halloween party. There was quite a variety here, and they could tell that the diversity would grow once the day starts to pick up. It seemed like not everyone was in their costumes, so they were excited for the day to continue, to see how much people value the fun Halloween tradition. They were also secretly hoping that others would appreciate the efforts they put into their cosplay. They were witches and they loved witch attire. They wanted to know how others felt about magic and witches.

Figuring nothing would come of any of this, Washington just set the drink down next to another, got up, and made her way to the line, hands in her waistcoat pockets. Behind another leader she couldn't really name at all, the line was a somewhat boring slog during which she couldn't do much besides kick her heels and wag her tail a little, making sure not to yawn as she wasn't quite sure on her dental hygiene.
Right, uh, just look cool, she thought to herself. She'd been feeling extra self conscious all day; the early rise didn't help but it wasn't all that, it was just general stuff. She couldn't help that feeling, it was as natural to her as what she liked and didn't, and it wasn't too unfamiliar, but it did have her wondering if coming was the right idea. Not that she regretted it, any chance to check in on...
Oh, it was her time. She grabbed a little bit of whatever looked good, not sure what any of it was besides the meats and the ambrosia, which she made sure to make a note of for later. Ambrosia was good. She wasn't sure if she should focus on the meat as a carnivore or hope that she still had enough human to get something out of plant matter.
Shaking the idea off, she made her way back to the table, setting down in... not that spot, the spot she'd been sitting in seems to have been taken, so she moved over to the now empty spot.

Akhens-Ari, daughter of Oloughin, Caller on the Council, Bringer of the Flensing Wind, She Who Feeds Entrails to Dogs, Terror of the North, Scourge of Khevisarash, Daughter of the Unifier, She Whose Banner Guides the Thunderhead, did not understand the concept of a "costume".

Well, she did, but not in the sense these people did.

As far as she could gather, one was meant to dress as a respected figure, or some terrifying thing, in order to show off their skills in... what? That was where the notion was lost on her. And so, she had returned to the most basic idea she could think of- the war-costume. It had been difficult to explain to the people at customs as to precisely why she was attempting to bring containers of ash, paint, colored dyes, a rather large banner, a massive, peaked helmet with a flaming red mane and a cougar mask, and several long knives into the country, but once they had been elucidated as to her identity they had little problem with her carry-on. Well, perhaps they did- they'd seemed a little too frightened to judge one way or the other.

But nonetheless, she'd managed to bring the entirety of her war-outfit to this little island in the middle of nowhere, she'd managed to don the assemblage with only a little trouble- Patyu had been of great aid in that regard- and she was ready to prove once and for all that her costume was the best of all.

And then they'd left the hotel room.

And then they'd entered the lobby, where the other attendees were assembled.

And then she had had three revelations.

Firstly, none of the other leaders seemed to have understood the concept of a "costume" precisely as she had. The little girls in the dresses sharply contrasted with her own, she thought.

Secondly, this helmet really didn't breathe. Or was it that the walls were closer than before? The air felt heavy here.

And thirdly, John A. Ross was here. John Ross was here.

Well, the party wasn't for a while yet, was it? She had time to put the helmet back on, at least. She pulled it off in a single motion, letting a rather unruly mess of hair fall out behind her, threw it to a rather concerned-looking Patyu- not that she noticed the look on his face- and strode confidently towards the bar, failing to acknowledge the equally concerned looks of those around her.

It was time for some fun.

In the moment they entered the lobby, Patyu, as well, had three realizations.

Firstly, he was stunningly underdressed compared to everyone else here, wearing a tunic and furs as he was.

Secondly, it didn't really matter- on a scale of one to ten, his daily wear was about an eight to the average partygoer in this place.

Thirdly, John A. Ross was here. And Ari had already noted the fact. And she was already off for him, before Patyu could protest, before he could open his mouth, before he could do anything but lock worried eyes with a sympathetic Nate standing at Ross side, throwing the helmet into his arms and forcing him to grapple with it for a precious moment he could've used catching up to her. When he looked up again, the helmet cradled in his arms, she was already almost at Ross' side.

Oh, this wasn't going to be fun, at all.

Shoving his Donalbain action figure that he had been given, Adarsh walked dreamily towards the table to get a mug and requested for a coffee, along with a pair of fried eggs with toast. He had woke up from a nightmare the previous night, and needed a good coffee to wake up. The Indian visitor to New Carthagea for the royal wedding had written an extensive memoir of the event in detail, which Adarsh had been reading on his flight to Western Fardelshufflestein and some bizzare dream involving that and had woken up with a jolt, sweating, when he got shot with a cat girl laser in the dream.

He wore a German military uniform, as his costume for Kaiser Wilhelm II, but had forgotten to wear the pickelhaube in a hurry, which he reminded himself to get from his room after breakfast.

Sitting at the table, "Morris" set his Bernardo action figure aside and pulled his M.I.B. sunglasses off.

He remained seated, with the table in front of him bereft of any fine dish whatsoever, and proceeded to take out a photo of what seemed to be his former colleagues back in Goldonia.

"Why has it all come to this moment?" he mused, staring at the memento, which he then put back in a wallet he had brought with him.

Eventually, "Morris" stood up, left his seat, and queued up to serve himself some fine delicacies.

Had it not been for what went down that day, he would not have been here.

Kuryosi, a lone pilot of his exploration ship, tries to stay awake after observing an alternate version of Earth. He isn't all that talkative, instead focusing always on his task.

"I wonder what's going on the surface.."

While loyal, he always does wonder what's happening on the planet, though he forgets it anyways. After a while, he then got a message from headquarters which is to attend Western Fardelshufflestein halloween event, which is also technically a diplomatic mission.

After reading this, he pilots his ship to drive to the territory of WF, while keeping his ship invisible.

"This isn't bad."
It wasn't. Though it shouldn't be; from what she understood, breakfast was cooked up by royal chefs. Whether that meant chefs with the King's patronage or just having passed some sort of test, probably both, she was sure that they'd do just fine, even if most of it was pretty unlike anything back in America. It was still good.
And there her head goes, wandering off... in the back of her mind is the tune to Gilligan's Island, and in the front of it was Sam's mom's cooking, that woman could cook...
Taking out her heart shaped locket mid-scoop, she popped it open to look at an old photo of her, Sam, and little baby Ruth back in the twenty-forties, sighing and relaxing, if only for a moment as she's able to take herself back to that moment.
"If only you could see your grandson now, Sammy," she mused wistfully to nobody but herself, twitching the hand holding the locket, the same hand that's had her steel wedding band for the last 24 years.

He also have read about all of the other Fardelshufflesteins as he views them as sometimes weird or humorous.

Pentti leaned against the car we had... borrowed for the trip, while I sat on the fender. We stopped beside a food cart on the corner, near the Grand Jacobean Hotel.

We got kebabs, without even getting out of the car, asking for it from the vendor as if he offered drive-thru, and then we parked on the curb of the sidewalk, maybe 5 minutes away from the people and the commotion. It was dark, and we had to resort to the car's headlights to really see anything.

Aretha Franklin's A Natural Woman was playing through the car's speakers.

"Is it magic?" said Pentti, his mouth, like my own, now smeared with hot sauce. "Like, does Alpha just use magic to get us where we need to be?"

"If you think about it," I said. "Everything is magic, as long as you don't understand it. The Ancient Egyptians thought the sunrise was magic."

I was going to go on, but Pentti looked at me like he was going to kill me. "Don't bring up God again."

While chewing, I said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Clarke's third law."

"Nanomachines," he said. "You know how everything in Metal Gear Solid that seemed supernatural was explained by nanomachines? Is it that, nanomachines?"

I shrugged. "I don't know a damn thing. Sparks are all over that place, in any case."

"Quibble, you know anything about this?"

Quibble was this car's artificial intelligence, sort of like a cheap knock-off of KITT from Knight Rider 2000.

"There is no information on 'The Other Place'. Did you mean 'the Father's Place'?"

"You're useless, and I hate you," I said.

"There is no information on 'Uzis and Ahaytu'."

Pentti rolled his eyes.

"When we get back home, I'm going to turn you into a toaster," I told Quibble.

One multiverse time skip and onset of jet lag fueled night later...

(Morning Tunes)

"Ughhh.. Why does this nation have to be the one where we get jet lag? It wasn't bad when you were at the Olympics.." Keller woke up, as her phone alarm went off, as she woke up in bed at about 7 AM. Charlie Huxley woke up also, as she knew she needed coffee. At least, they weren't at Banija, so it wasn't taxed. Jessica Madden was still snoring, as she was sound asleep in her hotel bed. "Do you want me to help with your costume, Harrington?" Charlie asked her, where she does need to get the makeup on her. "My costume is simple. Let me help, quick."

Jessica woke up a while later, where her clock read 7:15. "Aw shit, did I overslept?" Jessica immediately asked, where her girlfriend Charlie was already dressed in her witch costume. It was a simple costume, as it was a bit like the dress she wore for the 85th WorldVision. It was a black and green dress with a skirt that didn't touch the floor, where Charlie kept her hair untouched, as she only needed to wear a pointed witch's hat. The ruby slippers were a bit of a strange touch, but apparently someone knew a reference or two. "Don't worry, we're getting ready for breakfast. I can help you with your costume."
"Ok, though where's Harrington?"
"She's in the bedroom getting ready. I helped her put on the makeup."

After a while, Jessica Madden was wearing a rather risque, but still appropriate costume, which she managed to get together. To make her a little ghost-like, Madden was wearing an outfit that she once wore a concert or two ago. It came with a vest and straight tie of colors of dark blue and black. A long striped skirt with some stockings and some boots of the same color. To top it off, out of the three, Jessica was the only one with a mask. A skeleton mask over her face, though she can take it off with ease. Lastly, she wore a black top hat, while letting her hair loose. For both Madden and Huxley, they were ready.

"Harrington? You're good?" Jessica knocked on the bathroom door, where there was a nervous response. "I'm almost done! I just want to look neat..." Harrington said, until she left the bathroom. "Oh Keller, you look cute!" Madden said, as Harrington's costume was what it was supposed to be. A vampire. But maybe some things were too well done. Harrington had makeup on her to make her look more pale, where she had a set of plastic vampire fangs in her mouth. Dressed with a vest and a ruffed collar over her shirt and above her long black pants and shoes, Harrington also had a cape which was supposed to be traditional, but both Madden and Huxley didn't see any issue with Harrington's costume. "We all look good!" Madden said, checking herself in the mirror. "Come on! We have to go down for breakfast!" Madden said, as they left their rooms.

"Alright, let's see what is the current situation and aw crap.." Jessica looked to see there was already a line for breakfast. "You guys need waffles? I can get us some waffles." Charlie said to both Madden and Harrington, which both agreed. As Charlie was in line for fetching breakfast, both Madden and Harrington found their table. "This isn't so bad. This is like one of those public events. We're like cosplay." Madden said to Harrington, where she can tell that everyone was looking at each other costumes. "You're right. I think the jet lag is getting to me." Keller said, where she examined the action figure that they gotten when they arrived at the hotel. "I think this is for us?" Keller pressed a button on the back of the figure, which let out a quote from Macbeth by Donalbain.

"There’s daggers in men’s smiles." the figure would say, as Keller thought it was a bit funny, even though she never heard of Shakespeare before. "Classy."

The President woke up from his short nap after the Helicopter landed at the Hotel, and almost out on his sailor suit, yet at the last moment, he realized it was the wrong time. Putting on his best tie and suit, he looked in the Mirror at the Dashing Fellow who he was...from the Neck down. He had gotten the least amount of sleep of all the leaders since he took a Helicopter for a Dramatic Approach, only realizing by the time he arrived, everybody was asleep. He fixed his mind to the Present, fixed his collar, and headed off to Breakfast.

He, his Presidential Guard Commander who decided to tag on at the last Moment, and the Royal Family of the Great New Carthagea were all in Group F, and he watched the other Groups, specifically Group B, where his friend Bodie was at. All he took that Morning was a bunch of drinks, Coffee, Juice, and Milk. He didn't want to eat since he had Airsickness on the flight there.

He was quick with drinking them, so he waited for his Group to finish.

Getting a little Bored and Cold, he diverted his mind away from the scarce, yet satisfying feelings by asking King Christophe a question.He waited a while for the right moment and the thought of a nice question, decided the one most put out simply, and asked,

"So how are you today, sir?"

The Commander was already awake. He never went to bed. Tired, yes, but he knew he had to stay awake when....sorry, IF something strange happened, like the New Carthagean Incident, as called in Tranzoria. He looked at the clock, showered, got dressed in his Formal Outfit, for the first time in a long one, and took his Briefcase with the {REDACTED} in it.

He intercepted the President on his way to breakfast, and walked behind him until they reached the Buffet. There, he could see all the Leaders from the Reports and even Lord Bodie, the Swiss Leader he met on a visit one day, all tired, like him, but for some reason worse. He followed the President to the table where, with his Group, he could see the New Carthagean Royal Family, including their pets. He excused himself after familiarizing the face of the King and left to get Breakfast, which for him was simply Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, and Bacon Omelettes. He has this strange thing where he can't decided food. However, this was worse because the Food was AMAZING.

Alistarlin woke up and looked at the Clock, relaxing the fact he was up earlier than expected. But he needed to force himself today. This would be the day he would meet the Fake Leader of Western Fardelshuflestien, who his friend King Alostair told him about. He got out of bed, spent over 30 Minutes PICKING a suit, and chose a good, Formal one he put on quickly. He combed his hair, and with excitement in his eyes, went Downstairs to Breakfast, where his favorite meal, Canadian Bacon and Beans, were part of the selection. All he did was grab the food before looking around at the set of people NF told him about, like Empire Swizterland Geshik, and Tranzorua. He hoped he pronounced those right.

Hr then sat down at Breakfast with his group.....which were were the leaders of the Socialist Macronesia, another Communist Nation. He sat down slowly at and stared at the Leader, Ross Johnson. Sorry, wrong name...Rosson John.

"Morris," now carrying a platter filled with various foodstuffs, returned to his table, set the platter down, took a seat, and adjusted his tie.

Taking a small bite out of a piece of smoked cod, he thought to himself:

"So far, things are looking great. It's just unfortunate that Alastair happens to be highly ill on such a joyous occasion."

He never uttered a single word despite being curious and having multiple dignitaries sitting with him at that same table.

Kuryosi then also gets notified of the groups, which he is in group B.

"Woah, WF knows our contact too? That's particularly interesting. It's also embarrassing that most of my groups are planetary leaders while i am just a ship pilot.."

The ship then hovers above at the hotel, while keeping it invisible as Kuryosi prepares to go to the surface. He also grabs his computer as a way for direct observation.

"Group E?", the president asked. "E for Etor?"

Etor Gurraniz, president of Voxija, was attending Western Fardelshufflestein's Halloween bash. He was dressed as a zombie ghost vampire Edrigu V, who was the worst monarch ever to rule Voxija. Gurraniz wondered if he went a little overboard with his costume, but expected he would receive compliments. The zombie makeup was a little smudgy, and the vampire fangs made it hard to swallow, and the ghost sheet kind of covered the faux fur robes Etor was wearing, but eh.

The president looked down at his Edgar action figure. Etor pondered for a bit, and then remembered that Edgar was a character from King Lear. But what Edgar did in that play, Etor couldn't remember. Eh. Gurraniz wouldn't bring that up. He didn't want to insult his hosts with his lack of Shakespeare knowledge.

After getting a mimosa and some food, Etor Gurraniz sat down at a table with the rest of Group E. and then he did a double take. Was that King Alastair himself, sitting here? No. Etor reviewed his knowledge of the other Fardelshufflesteins, which he read about before coming. That was King Alostair. Etor wondered if his costume, representing a terrible King, would offend all the monarchs in the room.

President Gurraniz remembered that King Alostair was Violetists. Etor didn't have anything against Violetists, not legally. Heck, he'd even given their churches tax breaks, like every other religious group in Voxija including Satanists. But personally... eh, that was a different matter.

Etor took out his vampire fangs and got ready to make conversation.

He smiled.

"Well, hi, Ari. That's a damn good costume you got."

"And what exactly are you supposed to be?"

It appeared as though Ross had hastily scrubbed a marker into his forehead.

"Mikhail Gorbachev."

"The hell is that?"

"Leader of the Soviet Union?"

"Soviet Union?"

"Ah, forget it."

She patted his shoulder consolingly.

"Be yourself, Ross."

I think this might be the definition of Hell. Am I in hell?

Nate didn't bother to sleep last night, he couldn't tell if Ross and Ari had met up in the night, he'd been bored out of his MIN

"Hey, Patyu!"

Patyu appeared to be carrying Ari's helmet.

"You need some help with that?"

"I think I got it..."

Ah, classic Patyu. Miserable also.

"Alright Ross, I can't stand another second of you. I'm gonna hang with Patyu."

"Oh come on Nate..."

"Ross, I will not stand for another second of you and Ari's antic-laiden relationship."

He turned to the cinnamon roll.

"Let's get breakfast. How does that sound?"

Sylvia and Julienne were happy to notice some faces they recognized in the crowd. However, they stayed mostly silent and kept to themselves as they finished off the rest of their breakfast.

Truth be told, they were quite nervous, which furthered reinforced their habits of staying to themselves. Yes, there were some familiar people, there was also a considerable amount of guests who they did not know. What would they think of the azure rose twins?

This was meant to be a fun party though, right? Surely nothing bad should happen. They had real magic anyways so they shouldn't need to worry. However, they still couldn't put off their anxiety. So, to try and keep their minds off of it, they talked to each other about the costumes people were wearing.

"Ari, that nomad, do you think she understands Halloween?" Julienne whispered.

"I don't think she knows of the traditions, but it appears she still has the spirit. Even if it's just what I assume is her normal raiding gear." Sylvia answered in a whisper after sipping some more of her coffee. "Look, there's someone dressed as Wilhelm II."

"There are some vampires and ghosts too. Oh, look, sister. Someone with a witch outfit!"

The two men found a table to sit at. Nate went and got himself a breakfast plate and sat down.

"Jesus, Nate, did you get hit with a train or something?"

"I think so, yes."

"Well, I feel you, man. Ari apparently doesn't know what Halloween means."

"Is that her regular raiding gear?"

"Yeah."

"Well, she looks good in it, that's for sure. Not in a romantic way, of course. It looks like cosplay or something."

Somebody offered Nate a mimosa; he couldn't refuse.

Ah. Refreshing.

Of course, one led to two, two led to four, and four led to insanity.

He was sober enough to know what he was saying, and too drunk to stop himself. It was like watching a movie.

"You know, my cinnamon roll, you would look cute in a sweater. I got one you can borrow... You wanna borrow my sweater?"

Silence.

What the fuck did I just say?

Ross heard this all the way across the room. Luckily Ari did not.

Patyu looked a combination of proud, confused, and disgusted.

Adarsh stirred in two teaspoons of sugar into his coffee, sprinkled black pepper over the fried eggs, buttered the toast and began to eat what was one of his favourite breakfast dishes, simple yet delicious. The fact that this particular one was made by royal chefs made it even better. He ate his food quickly, as he was much faster eating what he liked, rather than what he didn't, which he rolled around in his mouth before swallowing.

Two eggs, 5 slices of toast and a mug of coffee later, he was fully awake, and didn't feel famished any more. He could probably eat a bit more and try some smoked cod. He liked fish too, but back home, he had never had it for breakfast, but rather for lunch or dinner. He got up to get a serving of it, but was reminded of his pickelhaube that he had forgotten in his room. He decided to try the cod later and get the helmet, worrying that it would seem odd to leave the venue later when more guests had arrived.

Why he had chosen to dress up as Kaiser Wilhelm II had a reason behind it. Personally, he wasn't much of a "Kaiserboo" as the cool kids on the internet call it. But one such Twitter user by the name of @imperialgermaner909 had once posted a picture about 3 years ago, of Adarsh and the German Kaiser side-by-side comparing their resemblance, and he too couldn't help but notice the similarity, though, it was mostly because of the moustache. Whatever be it, he was reminded of this post while responding to the invite to the Fardelshuffesteiner Halloween Shindig. It was also his first time celebrating Halloween. Despite the presence of a significant Christian minority in his home town, they didn't celebrate it, and he had only read about it in books while never getting the chance to see it first hand.

As he headed out of the banquet room, he glanced around to take a look at the other guests who had arrived and were having their breakfasts, or talking with each other over drinks. It was his first visit to an international event, and as a result, couldn't recognise most of the other guests. His secretary had been away on holiday for the festival of Durga Puja, and he wasn't briefed about the other leaders, but from what he could read from the roster, he recognised Ari, the leader of a nomadic tribe, who stood out, even in a place where people dressed up for the purpose of standing out. He recognised the man she was talking to as Prez. Ross of Socialist Macronesia. The media had done extensive coverage of its recent war with New Carthagea, and Ross's face had been on the front page of the Delhi Mail for several days.

Seeing everyone else in a costume that gives people feeling of horror, he wondered whether he had made the right decision of being a historical leader, "Well, if not others, it will scare the Russians", he thought, as he proceeded to his room. After about ten minutes, he returned to the hall, now sporting a shiny pickelhaube on his head.

In line for getting breakfast, Charlie helped herself by getting some trays for both Jessica and Keller, since the two were definitely hungry. A good stack of waffles, where Charlie took some meat for herself. She didn't notice the Dellamorte sisters taking notice of her, for dressing up as a witch, but Charlie did think some of the costumes in the room looked interesting, even if there was less young people, but what can you expect?

Carrying the trays to the table, Charlie set down everything, as Jessica took a hearty sip of coffee to get her thoughts straight. "Alright. We got breakfast. I can enjoy some coffee without getting taxed by the government." Madden said, as she was letting the caffeine kick in. "So I might be visiting this Alistair guy today. Depending of which action figure we have."
"Who is this Alistair guy? He's supposed to be the King of this place?"
"Guess so. I didn't bring a tourist book to know everything about this nation, but it seems actually more peaceful than all of the other nations I visited. Reminds me of that time I was at that boarding school."

"I wondering on which costumes looks the best, besides ours." Charlie said, as she looked around the room again. Lots of costumes, though there was little to think about since the need for protein was in her mind, as she bit into a large piece of bacon, as Jessica and Keller were eating some simple waffles and other goods.

As one might infer, Patyu was not very good at saying no to things. However, he was rather skilled at changing the subject, a skill that had served him well. Of course, it was also how he'd ended up in a number of rather disturbing scenarios he'd have preferred not to be associated with- why did Aphadri ask him to help with an amputation, of all things?- but it wouldn't get him out of this one. Unfortunately.

"Uh... sure? I mean, uh... I'm not... what's a cinnamon roll?"

Ultimately, it is an absolute and unquestionable truth that comfort surpasses dignity, as Patyu so graciously deigned to demonstrate.

"Nate... you're drunk, man. And I'm not... I'm not cute, I don't, uh, think, anyways. I... just get me the fucking sweater."

He buried his head in his hands and sighed.

Across the room, Ari was smiling at Ross, who was most definitely not smiling and looking in Nate and Patyu's direction. Following his gaze, she saw a rather uncomfortable-looking Patyu slumped across their table face-down, Nate across from him wearing a stupid-looking grin and waving one hand in the air, talking about... something.

Well, that was perfectly normal, then.

She turned back to Ross, smiling, and nudged him with one arm, trying to get his attention. "Hey, so... do you... you said the, uh, the costume looked good, right? Do you think it looks better with or without the helmet?" Ari slid it on over her head and pulled back the mane so it hung behind her. "I mean, I think it's nice, but-" She paused, wiggling it off her head again and wincing as it pulled a tuft of hair along with it. "-The warpaint's a nice touch too, and you can't see it under there." Gesturing at the black-and-red markings surrounding her eyes, she smiled.

"It's really worth leaving the helmet off. And it squeezes my skull." Tilting her head, Ari grinned at Ross. "But how've you been? I mean, it's been a bit since we were, uh, together last, yeah?" She waved over one of the serving staff circling the banquet room.

"You want a drink? I was thinking I wait until later, but if you want one, I won't judge." She turned to the waiter. "I'll take a tea, though."
