I'd call June rather recent, so no problem. ; ) And I understand fully. If I may ask, what do you study?

I see. Sounds like a rather system of cultural significance. But let's say, that there is a say Musician, who is good - but not good enough to become an Idol or a Talent. Would he still have chances on the Ezharan Market?

There will be two IC-reasons: One, he simply isn't good enough. He is only a hobby-Marcach, after all. Two, he sustained an injury during training (Athena was informed, including a Selfie ; )).

As for the girl, we don't have to go frisky and to be honest, you are right, we most definately shouldn't. Remember when you were in early puberty and admired that actress, who was twice your age (or more), but dang, she was hot? Who says, that girls can't crush on people way outside of their league either? ; )

Cool. So he could have VIP-Access to the backstage areas, if you want him to.

Seeing the responses of the others, I would greatly prefer it, if Lukov and his cohorts would stay at home to guarantee a smooth run of the Festival. Besides, I would greatly prefer it, if I were to not get into trouble with the nice people with the red text...
As an IC-reason, the Free Lands might not be a member of any international criminal court, but they are known for handing people over to them or others, who might have an interest in them, should they catch them. Lukov, for example, would get a nice vacation to Allanea on the house.

@Bretteneald,@New Visayan Islands; I am inquiring about this matter because, if there’s an actual issue with it. I wouldn’t want any of your people try their luck at apprehending Lukov and his accomplices in the case Selkie is not a signatory to Amistad or the ICC. In which scenario any such attempt would technically be considered illegal under local jurisdiction.

Unless you plan on kidnaping him, Eichmann-style. In which case, I would have you know, that you need to take into account the people that Lukov would tap to tag along with him to serve as personal security for his person at the festival.

Those would be five people who are basically going to serve as his bodyguards. And unless Selkie says otherwise, every one of them will be armed, rather lightly for the occasion, but still; handguns, switchblades and collapsible batons.

Yes. Talents are generally not adults anyway since it's easier to give a youth that core Talent trait of love for their passion. Besides, their education rarely comes with substantial profits, and it's likely that there are musicians in Ezhara who weren't Talents but had grown into their career later on and Talents who ultimately chose another career because they didn't want to make their passion into a job. This can't be a perfect system, either, so it's certain that there's Ezharans who are equally as skillful but who for one reason or another don't get chosen, whether because they don't put themselves out there or controversy.

I've shown one would-be Talent of that sort, that being Eiko Michori, who's just got a really complicated thing going on overall with his acting career and his belief that it's too corrupt and selfish to properly represent the Talent name, especially since he does hold certain blackmail items as a way to increase his income for his adoptive parents. On that note, his relationship with them is also why he's insistent on saying that they love him, since it's a coping mechanism for how they've manipulated his entire career and personality for their own gain since he's the child of a familial black sheep, that being his mother. It's also why they force him to hide his mental illness, since it lets them control him much easier. And for the psych major up there, and probably everyone else reading that wonders what goes on with Shwe/Ezhara's mind, don't stab me over Eiko—
On second though, I wouldn't mind if it leads to a more accurate description. You know what they say, Caesar became delicious when he was stabbed with a fork.

The others that have shown up in other Ezharan writings are Lorenzo Quispe, who's a paintball player accused of cheating when he's just extremely lucky and good, and Miro Cairo/Gregory Xanthos, who are both writers but are both outsiders to their community, which is a bit ironic since Ezharan culture emphasizes community, but there's always exceptions.

It is an interesting system, that much is for sure. Your people might be shocked, when they hear, how informal such things are handled in the Free Lands. ; )

Oh, they probably wouldn't be terribly shocked. Even in their home collective roleplay group, there's nothing particularly like the Talent system, so they rarely expect anyone like them. It's a fairly informal system, too, anyway — there's schools of the arts and the like, but Talents have ranged from those in public schooling to those in prestigious academies, in part because of a well-funded education system. The process itself is really just whoever gets noticed by the Mascots/heads-of-state of Ezharan cities, which is not a sort of thing that I've cared to look into because of the potential questions that could arise about greedy parents (that said, Ezharan Kids Got Talent! would not be well-received because it'd be viewed as disingenuous and harmful for the development of a Talent's love for their art/skill/passion).

Those like Eiko, wherein the parents openly push their child into that role for their own benefit, are rare since Ezharan culture believes in altruistically cultivating the growth and education of future generations, which is what the Talent system is based on. Furthermore, it's not common for any of them to make any substantial income off of it, especially before high school, which is the general minimum if a Talent-musician decides to become an Idol. Darius Basho, Kaz Mansur, and Eiko Michori are probably the only three exceptions; Darius is unsure if it's because he's actually good or if it's because people pity him, but he doesn't really care and just wants to paint; Kaz is so utterly attention-seeking that he was able to show-off his way into becoming his city's Idol; and Eiko is constantly acting as a coping mechanism. But still, it's possible, but rare. ~~And spoilers, Darius is set to die "soon" in-roleplay so it'll just be two soon enough.~~

Dolgae makes a decent amount from his music, but in exchange, most of it is from this one girl who's a little obsessive over him because she finds him adorable in a younger brother sort of way. Thankfully for him and his mom, she is not following them, though maybe that lass should be more thankful she isn't. Not sure what Gyeongju would do to someone if she suspected ill intentions towards her son, but it probably wouldn't be all that wonderful—

If you decide to bring her regardless, don't forget about the City Guard. If the Mam has any complaints, she can always call for them. ; )

I knew the band before I learned about the anime, but I was wondering where the series got its name from. I'm mostly into American history. Living a half-hour Metro ride from all that DC and the Smithsonian Institute have to offer probably has something to do with that.

Oh, no, the US did some pretty nasty things, no question asked, but the Spanish weren't exactly polite either, so... yeah. Let's not discuss that particular topic in this thread.

I'm in that weird limbo in HS where I want to study history but also STEM and as such cannot make up my mind and might end up doing neither.
