The Festival of Holy Light III (IC)

Postby AHSCA » Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:05 am

To participate you must post at the OOC thread. That's also where OOC belongs.

Sunrise over the tranquil tropical islands of AHSCA as the next annual festival dawned on the faithful citizens. The long held religious traditions that had recently become a very public celebration had really become a boon for the local economy with a large uptick on tourism. While they weren't racing to build high rise hotels or multi acre golf courses anytime soon, nobody could seem to resist the semi-modern-semi-primitive world of the UIS. Where in an instant you could go from a "city" from Asia that looked like it was about two centuries old, to a dense wilderness, to a small out of the way village that you wondered if they even knew about the country they lived in, much less the outside world. Boats that seemed to be from a different era and a different world stood in the harbor. Mighty masts with billowing white sails, crafted by wood and the sweat and muscle of a few dozen people. Boats from the late turn of the 19th century that bore a singular funnel with masts for the support. Ships basically that were from an era long gone in this modern jet and space age. Each island had their own ways of celebrating and own sights to behold ahead.

AURORA ISLAND

In the Case of The Duchess Villa

Another fine morning for Marcella overlooking the crowded Aurora Square. Perched atop her overlook of her bedroom it was always a lovely sight to behold. She did her annual address to commence the festival, last night, fairly similar to what had been stated last year. This year the islands had a lot to be thankful for. Weather was so very central to how the people lived here. Perhaps more than anyone, anywhere else and the year was actually very nice for them. Only one major storm hit, over Animalpolis, which left minor destruction but no casualties. Otherwise all of them had fizzled out or missed all together. Unusual for them to not see any hurricanes. The rains were pretty moderate to average, so just enough. Most took that as a sign the rainy season to come was going to be harsh to compensate, the Black Goddess of rain, storm and night would surely want to compensate for the White Goddess' efforts. Well in the age of science Marcella looked to both prayer and science for the answers and right now it was a sort of big shrug with a 50-50 chance of either or. Well time would tell, and plenty of time to worry about that AFTER the festival.

For now it was a morning breakfast and tea with Asuna, her loyal trusted guard and also someone she'd consider a friend as well as her own handmaiden, Yoshi. Given Aurelia would certainly be wanting time with her, and vice versa, this was a good time to be with some other people she cared just as much about (outside her family anyway). She obviously spent plenty with her mother, father and sister over the last few days.

"Mmmmm, another festival is upon us ladies, exciting and wonderful isn't it?" Marcella said while sipping on her tea.

"It certainly is, Milady, a special time as always." Yoshi agreed. "More fun for you as Her Grace the Princess will be joining you yet again."

"Well that's always the big plus." Marcella agreed. "And Asuna, I imagine you have fun things planned?"

"As a matter of fact, Sayaka and I will be hanging out. Given her squeeze is still out to sea at the moment."

"Then it's off to sea for you?"

"Well given my last trip kind of went haywire so I'm just glad I got another chance at it."

"I think that's great but if something like that happens next time, please inform us right away, especially me, considering you're my personal guard and you had Noir's deputy and many citizens in caught up in that..."

"I took care of it didn't I? Don't worry! Really we'll be fine, what are the odds that we'll wander into a sudden conflict."

"You best not tempt The Dark Goddess or she might just summon the waves upon you." Yoshi cheekily responded

"Of hush, you, have another biscuit." Asuna rather forcefully stuffed a biscuit into Yoshi's mouth.

"Point still stands" Marcella flatly replied

"All right all right, IF trouble like that occurs, believe me, moment we hit port, I'll make sure to inform all the needed parties."

"Very good." Marcella set her empty cup down gently.

In the Case of Satou Fujimiya

Obviously the now renowned Kitan was busy busy as usual getting ready for their influx of guests to come, some reserved and some would likely stumble in hoping to grab a free room which usually they could manage to accommodate. Besides that for one of its former employees, Hiromi Hongo she bid farewell to the job that she enjoyed and had treated her well but she had a great ambition to now run her own little corner bakery. She had made a real name for herself as one of the cooks for the Inn but she was breaking out on her own as she secured enough money to finally open one. Here to wish her well for her inaugural opening was her former co-worker and well regarded friend, Satou. "Annnnnnd done" Hiromi chimed pulling out a freshly baked mini pie from the cooling rack. "All right you both get the first taste. The recipe is a bit experimental but I promise it'll taste great."

Satou took her first bites "It is very good!"

"Oh I'm so happy! I hope it'll sell well. But failing that, I got plenty of the other regular stuff I can make." Hiromi replied. "I'm so excited, my first festival as a business owner."

CORONA ISLAND

In the Case of Ayla

True to its namesake, yesterday gave a sight for early arrivals. A rainy morning followed by the optical phenomenon. Now the sun was out and skies blue and the perfect day for festival goers to begin celebrations. Aurora and Tsubaki Animalpolis were certainly more bustling ports that drew the tourists, while Kino being a smaller port was usually as a stop over at best or a passing by of tourists on their way to Tsubaki. Oh well, it is what it is, Coronan people were generally more reserved compared to their neighbors. Well not to say unwelcoming or unfriendly but considerably more into the "primitive" ideal. Kino wasn't lacking in amenities obviously just it wasn't as bustling or built up. Huts of various materials still lined the streets, people weren't as dolled up in kimonos or the like. It wasn't uncommon to see a row of small rice farms just down the road from the harbor. There wasn't a looming stone palace or temple down the center, just another large hut, the hut of the Island's Chief.

The "temple" was rather similar, just marginally bigger but did have some stone support. If there is one thing the people do value here above all else it is their faith. And of course little inns for people to stay were present as well, I mean it's not like NOBODY ever came to the islands, it just wasn't the biggest draw for tourists. In the port's center was a rather large statue of the current and former Chief, her late husband, Kino, the namesake of this port.

The War made Kino a hero for fighting and working to create this new nation of the UIS, having to lose his life for it but allowing his wife to escape to continue the needs of creating the UIS union, if they'd survive long enough to do that anyway. A quick basic, "You are in command now" its what is often been told and assumed and yeah that's how it went. Most looked favorably on this, some still regarded Ayla as a coward for not also giving up instead fleeing but most saw the need for her to continue the work of formation. Three of the leaders had already been captured and feared killed, though Duchess Shino Nanao made it out alive but not without some trauma left over but trauma quelled by her lovely two daughters and doting husband.

Anyway, back on Kino today, today it's a port like the others, celebrating the blessings of their Holy Mothers above, ready to welcome a batch of anyone seeking a place to stay. Chief Ayla was the same, she'd been wondering if a certain someone she met during a party back in December would be here. She did open her home to welcome him if he so desired. It was enough to get the attention of her friends, family and colleagues for certain.

"Weeeeelllll?" The high pitched teasing voice of Miela, whom really is responsible for all this when you really think of it.

"Well, what?" Ayla pushed her back as if pushing off an annoying little sibling getting up close in her personal space.

"Come on, is he here?"

"How should I know? If you forgot we don't exactly have phones here."

"Haha you know what I mean, mia amiko. You met at a party, shared a dance, invited him here did you not? Who is to say he won't be coming to see you? The tall busty dark skinned beautiful chief of all Corona, hero to the people, founder of the nation! Come on he'd be crazy to give you the cold shoulder."

"Speaking of, why aren't you with Pacifica?"

"Aha in time in time, don't change the subject, Ayla! Come on the Ladies blessed us with the quietest storm season in recent memory, there is truly the heavens at work here."

"It is...A long trip from there to here. so maybe."

"seeee that's the spirit! I tell you things can go very well if you play your cards right. Duchess Nanao betrothed a man who came to the festival did she not? Who is to say you won't do the same?"

"Miela I think you're jumping ahead here! Not to mention the age differences."

"What's a few years between true love? You were 14 when betrothed to Chief Kino."

"He was 16 then, hardly the same."

"Well he knows you're 35 right? Right?"

"I never told him my age or anything."

"Ohoho shy are we? I mean you still look like you could pass for 17 in my humble opinion and were I already not madly in love with Pacifica I'd ask you to be my date for this Festival"

"Huuuummm" Ayla couldn't help but blush at that, flattered to be adorned by all, considering she always felt more long and awkward given she was 1.85 meters tall, taller than most islanders. "Maybe I'll stroll around the village square a while. Go meet with Pacifica already." She ordered

"Fine, fine."

Back out on the village center folks had been already gathering to shop, see friends and neighbors some working to sell whatever they had didn't matter what, even full livestock could be sold, though not likely many tourists picking that up as they might smaller things like fresh picked fruits or flowers to give to a special someone. Sunflowers are certainly a big one it wasn't uncommon to see little children or grown women selling them anywhere. They kind of just grew everywhere. Young Priestesses worked to do their daily errands, gathering gifts from local vendors to offer in their own Temple to any visitors as well as returning some owed money for their goods in the past.

Hoshino Island

Hoshino was like Aurora in many ways but far smaller and a little more quaint. Villages were certainly a little more compact compared to Aurora it was still a mix and match of Corona and Aurora styles of building needs. Tabby's Point the large mountain named for a citizen who had spotted the first ships of the blockade against the Aurora Duchy which ultimately lead to the war was the tallest point. Port Aya was named in honor of the former Vicerine Aya Hoshino, also one of the co-founders of this nation. Survived the war only to lose her life in a monster hurricane a few years later. What happened to her husband, Mako? Nobody was entirely certain, he survived the storm but the loss of his wife seemed to hurt him badly that leading the island became a series of ill decisions and bad choices until finally he was removed by The Duchess and in his place his brother, Shinya was given his title. Despite being a member of the Hoshino line who had been the first appointed Viceroys of the island, he adopted a new name after his marriage to a "foreign" girl named Ya-Xi, whom was royalty on a small then unrecognized island, an island lost to nature so thought when a large volcano erupted. Since then it's likely it's been settled as Islas Malditas by the folks from Astares Amauricanum. Well maybe, honestly she couldn't be sure because her island was a spec not important enough to be noted on a map by anyone else, to find it again would be remembering the approximate location, a dangerous trip over stormy seas. Any remnants of her old home had been wiped away anyway so the past was in the past, it really didn't matter anymore.

Ya-Xi especially loved the festival, she loved the commotion it brought, people from around the islands at at home and abroad. She was as giddy as a little school girl to be honest. Running about the village square, her poor husband hardly keeping up. People would recognize her and greet her warmly and she would in return. "Good day Lady Vicerine."

"Good day! My what lovely arrangement of flowers you have!"

"Ya----" Shinya panted "Xi."

"Oh there you are!"

"Goodness I forget how fast you are."

"I figure your military training would have made you faster." She giggled

"Good day, Viceroy" The lady vendor greeted him

"Oh good day." He panted back.

"Seems like a lot of people are coming in for the festival, Milord. Exciting isn't it?"

"Oooooh I sure hope so!" Ya-Xi said "I feel like most go to Aurora or Animalpolis. I mean I get Tsubaki and Aurora have so much to see and offer as our two biggest cities but still, wish some folks would see the beauty of Hoshino."

"I'm sure they will, Milady. They only need you to bring them here with how cute you are!"

"Aahaha come now, you flatter me!"

"I think she's hoping you'll just buy out the whole stand again..." Shinya muttered a bit annoyed.

"Well Milord it is also nice to be able to compliment the Lady and Lord because I want too not because I have too."

"You're not implying --"

"Aha of course not . Just my little one is so in love with history lessons in school right now. She's telling me of everything, everything I never knew. 35 years of being on this little island, seen it all but that I didn't know much."

"Well history is important." Ya-Xi nodded, reaching into her clothing for her Credits Purse. Biting her lip from saying further about the lost legacy of her family and home she called before arriving in AHSCA. "Good to know what life was like. But I promise as long as I live and as long as the two of us rule here, every citizen will not have to be submissive."

"Kind of you, Milady. Please enjoy the Festival and all it has to offer."

In the Case of Kaori

Ships from all around pulled into shore and others still crossed the rolling seas to make it. Hoshino Island was home to the cute as buttons Kaori. Yet again she sat on her home island watching the boats roll in, watching the blue sky with the puffy white clouds moving through. Lost in her thoughts. Again with her puppet companion. It honestly made her nervous seeing so many strange faces so many strange people. Of course they meant her no harm but still it was a bit unnerving. "Huuuuum"

"What ya thinkin' about, Kaori?" Kaori parroted her puppets "thoughts"

"Just how many people are coming from all over the place."

"Maybe you should talk to some of them?"

"But they probably don't speak Hoshine or Auroran. I can't speak much Common. Plus I still can't talk to many strangers. No matter how much Matron or teacher works with me." She conversed with her little hand puppet. "Mama worries. I know she does. That's why she's working at the Temple with Matron. Maybe the Goddesses will help me."

It wasn't just that Kaori was shy, that was part of it yes, but she also just well didn't function like everyone else. In a country really lacking the understanding of how various mental conditions work, it was interpreted as anything from just wallflower syndrome to being cursed to just not being right in the head. Well considering she did foolishly flee to a seaside cave in a hurricane a years back, thankfully saved with the combined help of a Dancerian Prince and the Matron, it wasn't surprising some regarded her as crazy. Now she was banned from there, despite it being one of her favorite spots. "Kaori, maybe put on your kimono?"

"I will later. I wanna walk around the port a bit."

"But stay away from the harbor, don't want to get in people's way"

"Mhm." Just then a sudden unlucky breeze lifted her straw sunhat from her little head and now she was having to chase after it. "Wait, Mister Hat, come back!"

ANIMALPOLIS

An island so named for it's population of Anthromimi people, generally people with a few animal characteristics and human characteristics, though some had significantly more features the vast majority were people with a pair of ears, a tail, maybe some more innate features that came out at certain times but otherwise human. It started as a sort of distant refuge some centuries back now became the most populous and largest islands both in terms of it's natural geography and population. Tsubaki had now surpassed Aurora to become the largest "city" again city in a rather dated sense because like Aurora it looked like a city from about two-centuries ago but I think you get the idea now. Anyway crowded and filled with folks eager for another great festival like any island in the chain. Millhiore Firianno Biscotti, (a silly name she chose for herself as a child) the island's Premier, was of course going to be enjoying the festivities with her husband, a great time to enjoy it with her beloved! Like the Duchess she also issued a State Address to her citizens, anyone who wished to listen could gather in the town square to hear it and once that was done she and Cinque took to roaming the streets to see some of the sights and take in the various activities people were putting on. Who knows whom they'd bump into but for now it was just a lot of wandering and chatting. It was nice, last year Cinque was away so she was by herself. Besides the lovely couple, Noir VinoCacao, AHSCA's foreign minister and a close friend of the pair was along for the walking through Tsubaki's crowded winding districts. No sign of a couple of their other friends who were present at their wedding, likely on their home of Hoshino.

"Millihi?" Cinque asked.

"Mmm?"

"Oh did Her Grace ever reply to your offer?" He asked about a dinner invite for Her Majesty. It was the case every year, every leader of every island gave an offer for the Duchess to dine with them if she wished.

"Oh as a matter of fact, she did. She wasn't certain, given she's already been offered by everyone else and obviously she has a guest of her own to entertain. But my offer still is good. And well...I'd really hope she'd consider bringing the Sultanate's Princess with her."

Noir nodded in agreement, "Well I'm sure she'd be glad to oblige if she can - wait, you're not still upset about that whole thing?"

Milli had chatted with guests from a close ally of the UIS, one of the closest to form since the end of the war. Maybe it was nothing but Millihi had kind of embarrassed herself and came off looking like a bit of a ditzy fool. Enough to maybe leave some questioning, they let HER be in charge? Well maybe, maybe not but still made her feel embarrassed. Sure, Millihi was a little silly and dreamy as far as leaders go but her heart was as big as her spirit. She loved her home, she loved her subjects, she loved talking and making friends with people.

"Noir I thought you sorted this thing out?" Cinque questioned.

"I told her, it's not as big of a thing as she's making it. She's being sensitive is all." Noir replied.

"It's not about me. If they want to think I'm a dork then let them. Well I'd rather they not but - I mean- It's about all of us. The islands, about The Duchess. What we all do as leaders of these islands comes back to her."

"A bit broad don't you think, love?" Cinque asked. "I mean is every leader held to that same?"

"I don't know, but I know history sides with the wise. Duchess Villa is wise and deserves respect most of all. So I would like to show that I too can be a respectable leader."

"I think most already know that. After all she hasn't fired you yet." Noir teased

"What?!"

"That's a joke, Millihi! I'm sure you'll be fine really. I'm sure Her Grace and the UIS is also fine in the eyes of the Sultanate. Last I checked, things were still good."

Joel Miller.
Kino, Corona Island.

Ah, the smell of the sea, mixed with the ones of the tropical jungle nearby carried by the wind... the complete opposite of what I've been used to most of my life, my nose being rather accustomed to the scents of the pines and oaks of Saskatchewan, but still pretty good.
A year ago, I was still working with my brother Tommy, managing the lumber-mill we inherited from our uncle and aunt, and me working a a carpenter (without showing off, a skilled one if I believe others.), and raising my beloved daughter Sarah. A youth error, many have said to me after her mother left me with her, when I was just 17 and her just a newborn baby. But even if all the days were not all sunshine and rainbows, I thank the Stars each day for the light she has brought in my life.
My brother Tommy, on his side, does not have children, but married Maria, a hydroelectric engineer working at the dam near our home, and soon, our group of four settled in the old house of the lumber-mill, our lives soon falling into a well-oiled routine...

...until about a year ago. Don't worry, all of you who are reading, nothing bad happened. In fact, it was the complete opposite.
On that October evening, as we had all gathered to watch the evening news on television, the opening lines were all about our country, the Federalis Imperium of Astares Amauricanum, having seized a small archipelago apparently in the middle of nowhere, called the Islas Malditas. According to a principle called Terra Nullius, we were apparently able to legally sezied these islands, and they were now in our lap.
In the following days, the Joint Departmental Agency for the Devlopment of the Islas Malditas was created, and contracts started to be opened for providers, job offerings, etc. Tommy and I chose to submit an offer for providing wood for the construction sites that would surely start to pop on these Islands, and it didn't took much time before we got a positive answer back. The Agency also offered me a job as a construction and carpenter foreman. As my sister-in-law Maria was being sent to work there by her company, I was not going alone. So, I left my now 16-year old Sarah with her uncle, and off we went to the airport, then to Guam, where a boat soon took us to the Malditas, where the first sites were being drawn. That was back in December.

Now, with the COVID having delayed us a bit, and allowing me and Maria to go back home from March to May, I was finally back on the Malditas. But this time, we were not alone. Tommy was accompanying Maria for a few months, having left the keys and handling of our sawmill to Ellie, a promising young woman of 19 and one of our employees. As for Sarah, she would have classes online for the duration of her stay with us.
Now, the Malditas looked very different from what we discovered when we arrived nearly a year ago. Construction crews like mine, as well as Seabees from the Imperial Navy, had done a great job. Although we had managed to lay the bases for a few structures here and there during the stormy season, when the dry season came again, we managed to triple the pace. A few concrete docks had been erected, as well as airfields, and although our lodgings znd the rest of the buildings we were currently using were all prefabs, the foundations of our future, definitive quarters had already been laid.

But what interests us now is not how the work on the Malditas is progressing.
Last year, the Agency passed to everyone a document written by Daniel Vincao, our ambassador in the neighboring archipelago of the UIS of AHSCA. Around this time of the year, they have a tradition of hosting a festival to honor the transition from the dry seadon to the wet season.
And so, according to our ambassador's words, the UIS are a very kice place to visit, and the tourist influx of last year, although small, apparently landed them with quite the pocket money.
So, this year, a good part of the workers of the Malditas, civilians and military, have chosen to spend some time in the UIS for the Festival of the Holy Light. Around five to six thousand of us will be visiting.

And this is why on this early morning, I find myself standing on the promenade deck, starboard side, of the ferry thzt carried us from Malditas 3 to Kino, Corona. A few meters away, two other ferries flying the Astarian flag also sail towards Corona.
"We're finally here! I'm so eager to get on land and discover what these Islands have to offer! " exclaims Sarah to my right, always being the ball of energy she has always been.
"Don't worry baby girl, " I reply as I ruffle her hair, "you're not alone in that situation. Plus, with our mountain bikes, we'll be able to cover more ground."
Since most of use used bicycles, especially mountain bikes, to get around the Malditas for our jobs, we figured it would be best to bring them with us.
"At least I hope the locals won't be afraid to see that many foreign ships coming in, with the war from 20 years ago." says my brother Tommy on the right of Sarah, an arm around Maria's shoulder.
"Don't be like that little brother, " I reply, "I'm sure the folks here will be very nice and helpful. True, we're not in the more popular areas like Aurora, but that does not mean we won't get to see fewer things.
-I agree." finishes Maria, before the ferry's horn sounds loudly, followed by a message on the PA system telling all passengers to gather their belongings, including their bikes, and be ready to disembark.
As we hear that, Tommy, Maria and I all check the back of our pants, to see if our concealed Masada 35 pistols were secured in their holsters.
That done, we leave the promenade deck, gather our bikes, and finally disembark in the small port that is Kino.
We are all dressed similarly: walking boots, cargo pants, and polo shirts or T shirts. Me, Tommy and Maria also have each a cap with the Miller Lumber-Mill logo on it. Sarah, for herself, also have a cap with her high-school logo. We also have each a bagpack on our backs.
"Good day Sir/Ma'am" says Maria as she is the first to hand her passport to the local customs officer. "Maria Miller, hydroelectric engineer, on vacation with my husband Thomas Miller, my brother-in-law Joel Miller, and my niece Sarah Miller." she says as she points to us three, as we also present our passports. "We have three concealed handguns and a baton to declare, as well as these bikes."

Staff Sergeant Abigail "Abby" Anderson
Port Aya, Hoshino

Unlike the jackass above, I'll try and keep this one short, since he already told you everything.
Staff Sergeant Abigail Anderson, but everyone calls me Abby. Currently serving in the 44th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Delta Company. As a special force operator in the Astarian Imperial Army, I've been deployed to many parts of the world since I first joined the Rangers at age 23, six years ago. But among all of them, this last one has been the most peaceful.
In July, our battalion has been sent to the Malditas to relieve the First Battalion who was part of the security apparatus. I'll admit, when I first arrived, I didn't think there would be such a melting pot of branches. Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and even a few Imperial Guards, along with all the Army men and women, including us Rangers, have been dispatched to handle the security and police duties for the construction sites. Although the Malditas may not seem like a big target, the abundance of resources, both at sea and on the Islands, and the presence of various foreign military bases in the nearby UIS made our higher-ups to deploy maybe more than the necesary amount of troops.

Anyway, since the UIS are hosting a Festival, and a good portion of us Astarians working on the Malditas have managed to check for a few days of leave, including me, I now find myszlf on a ferry sailing towards Hoshino. Accompanying me for the Festival, one of my squadmates (and friend with benefits, let's not hide it.), Corporal Owen Rekker.
"So, ready?" I ask as we prepare to leave our cabin to go ashore, checking the contents of my bagpack one last time.
-Yup" he simply replies, as he puts the final cartridges in one of his pistol's magazines, before slapping said mag in his Masada 35, racking the slide and checking that a round is chambered before tucking it in a concealed hoslter in the back of his pants.
That done, we gather our packs and passports, before exiting our cabin and going towzrds rhe gangplank, gathering our mountain bikes on the way. I wave at a few of my other squadmates, who are waiting in line to disembark a few meters in front of us.
Just like us, all the Astarian military personnel vacationing on the Malditas has chosen to wear digitalized camouflage cargo pants and combat shirts, and our branch's berets or cover on the head to help identify us better. A few feet behind us, I spot three sailors, recognizable by their blue and white digitalized- camouflage.

Once our turn to present our passports comes, we advance towards the custom officer.
"Goos morning Sir/Ma'am, Staff Sergeant Abigail Anderson and Owen Rekker of the Astarian Imperial Army, 44th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion." I say with a smile as I hand him our two passports. "We have each a concealed pistol to declare." I add with the same smile.

Meanwhile, on Aurora, Stillstando or Animalpolis, the same scenes would occur. Ferries flying the Astarian flag, unloading both civilian and military personnel, most of them carrying bikes with them, qnd handing their passports to the customs officers.
As said before, around five to six thousand of them would be visiting this year. If last's year was a tourist boom, this year was surely going to be a Big Bang.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Aurora, Aurora Island, UIS, Portside Promenade Deck of the Aurelia.

We had actually arrived yesterday, sometime around midday, the Aurelia-class Sailing Yacht Aurelia, a vessel built on demand by Prince Damir ibn-Razia and named after his beloved daughter, namely me. She was a sailing yacht, a beautiful vessel of two thousand tons and 94 meters, built in the style of a Capall na dTonn, a Wavehorse, one of the legendary ships my mother's ancestors used to sail to distant lands.
Dad and my stepmother, Princess Yasmin bint-Atif, had refused to spoil themselves of the fun of stepping into the land of my beloved Marcella before the Day of the Festival of Holy Light and I had followed their example, but here we were, or rather should be.
Dad smiled in bemusement as I was nervous, thrilled, excited, lovesick, all of that and more, walking up and down the promenade, but always not even five steps away from the gangplank.
My father was a tall man, olive skinned and with short, brown hair, his golden eyes gleaming with mirth as he watched me - he wore a light shirt and light pants, but sturdy boots (and to be honest, I would not be surprised to find a label Property of the Utica Metropolitan Police inside of them). He was an intelligent man, a patron of the arts, and quite well-liked mainly due to his charme. It was no wonder, that he was seen as the more pleasant alternatives at state visits, when one of the children of the Sultana, he was her youngest son, came to a visit, especially when considering, that Auntie Rasha was the Lady-Commander of the Armies of the Five Deserts and Uncle Ilia the Lord-Commander of the Sultan's Navy.
I had inherited his skin tone, but my blonde hair was of my mother, a Selkie-Maiden, who my father first seduced (or was seduced by or both) and then fell in love with. My blue eyes were hers as well, brought forth by the little sapphire pendant resting on my collarbone, which also brought attention to my 'argumentation amplifiers'. Add as a bonus, that I wore a black bikini-top, a pair of matching bottoms and a pair of cargo pants, which emphasized my built pretty well, especially when one took to heart, that I practiced Mounted Archery quite successfully. I also still had my yukata, which I bought two years ago, but that would come later. One remarkable change, which Marcella might notice was, that my long hair, once going well past my rear end, was now a little bit longer then shoulder-length, having been cut down considerably.
One was unchanged, though, someone, who had been here twice before and never tired of being here: Aldhiyb, my trusty Sand Wolf. The large canine with the blue eyes had saved my life and now, that I had finished school and was doing my Service as a part of the Administration of the Khanate of Tanin, I could finally spend all the time he and I wanted to spend together. And it was a lot.
Fuck the yellow press and their nagging - who said, that a bureaucrat couldn't walk her bloody dog?!
Anyway, we were all waiting on the last of our little group, my stepmother Princess Yasmin bint-Atif, the Princess-Regent of the Khanate of Tanin. She was also, as we knew now, pregnant, by now in her 14th week. Once could see a slight bulge, where the kid was growing - either her name would be Fara or his name would be Dschafar, after Yasmin's Mother or Dad's Father, respectively.
That also meant, that Yasmin needed regular checkups and looks at by the ship's Doctor, Doctor Tabalfina. And that was, why there was this delay.
"Aurelia, you'll carve a cut into the planking.", Dad admonished me softly and I stopped, looking at him, "Nice rewards come to those, who wait for them."
"You can easily say that - you need to go to your bedroom in the evening to see your beloved with nothing but a smile on her, but Marcella..." I sighed, wistfully. "We are worlds apart, yet so close."
"You still write letters, don't you?", Dad asked.
"Every week.", I replied with a soft smile. I still had that shoe box under my bed in the Palace of the Azure Hall, filled with her replies. I reached for a pocket on my pants, a letter in it. It was my latest reply. I would deliver it personally. "I... sorry, Dad."
"It's alright. I know, how you feel.", he said and I knew, what and whom he meant: My Mam, who was waiting on us in the Mag Mell.
We were silent for a moment. I glanced down to the bottom of the gangplank, to the unfortunate man of the Tabardariyya, who was guarding the gangplank. There were a lot more tourists this year, so a bit of a precaution was necessary. While she was still along, the Harira was now only a dinghy of the larger Aurelia.
"Sorry I'm late!", we suddenly heard a voice come around the bend, "The Doctor took his sweet time... I hope, that you aren't..." The woman kissed Dad. "...too over-excited and nervous!"
And with that, my stepmother, Princess Yasmin bint-Atif, kissed me on my cheek. She was only seven years older then me, brunette, blue eyes and quite well-equipped, her long-brown hair open for today. She wore a white sun dress, topped by an equally white sun hat, sunglasses and solid shoes. Not boots like Dad and I wore them, but not sandals either.
"Me?", I asked, "Over-excited and nervous at meeting my girlfriend?"
"Right, who am I asking, Miss Cool!", Yasmin said and hugged me again. I felt the slight bulge, which told of me soon having a half-sibling. "I'm excited to be here!"
"And so am I.", Dad said and smiled, "The idea to come here for our honeymoon was excellent. Thank you for inspiring us, Aurelia."
He kissed me on the cheek.
"You're welcome.", I said, blushing. Aldhiyb was by my side, looking up at me. "So... shall we get going?"
"Lead the way.", Dad asked of me.
Happily I did - and a minute later, we were in Aurora.
It felt good to be back!

Port Aurora, Ferry Port.

After having chartered a flight on a Guairdeall with the Maor Air Transport Company, we were now finally, finally in the UIS-Proper. We had landed on the Embassy Isle, mainly due to there being no larger airport and even the seaplane ports of the different islands were apparently unsuited for a plane of this size, , then had taken a ferry to get here.
And here was breathtakingly beautiful!
Neto shall burn the work assignments we had for university, the only condition on how we could have been exempted from lessons, but... I probably should explain, who 'we' in this case meant.
First, let's start with the cub, who's idea this had been: My little sister Branwen.
She was, like me and our Father before us, a Spiorad Ainmhithe, an Animal Spirit from the Free Lands of the Selkie, her long, black hair bound back into a ponytail, her golden eyes shining. She studied Literature at the University of Fortham and as such her assignment was to write about how the Festival of Holy Light was reflected in local literature - she was a fan of Shizuka Gozen, a local writer, anyway. Still, that did not stop her from dressing to impress, especially with her massive bustline. She wore a black one-piece swimsuit, a semi-casual one, under a white bluse, the outline faintly visible underneath it. That was paired with a pair of jeans and solid shoes. Her wolf ears were more dog-like and floppy, vanishing in her hair.
I, as her older twin sister, had wolf ears, which stood high and perked on my head, twitching at every new sound. I shared much of Branwen's built, but we could not have dressed differently, mainly because I wore a black bikini, the halterneck top visible as I wore only shoes and a pair of jeans in addition to that.
Both of us carried a traveling bag and a backpack, Branwen stopping to fish her water bottle out of hers.
"Beautiful.", she said in Tafod, the language of the Spiorad. Our Dad had taught us. "It's a bit like the Archipelago, yet so much... not."
I nodded, put an arm around her waist, kissed her on the cheek. "Wonderful idea of yours. Definately worth it.", I said and nodded, "So, we have one week here before we must return. Enjoy the Festival today, clear our assignments and then enjoy the land for the rest of the trip?"
Branwen nodded. "Sure. Let's find our inn first, though."
As we made our way into Aurora, of course having shown our passports, we couldn't help but notice the many bikes and biking tourists disembarking from ferries flying a flag unknown to us.
So... mass tourism had arrived.
Best secure the history before it was trampled down by tourists.

Aonas Folracht of the Tribe of Wicklow.
Port of Kino, Corona Island.

Last year, in December, I made a promise: On my little world tour, which I did now that I was an adult, I would visit a beautiful maiden, who I met at a beach of the Oileánra-Archipelago at her home.
Ayla was her name, strong, beautiful (and, let's be honest here, busty), kind to a dork like me... I would never guess her to be older then 25 Springs. With me being of nineteen Springs, on a world tour, I could hardly wish for a more beautiful place of desire then Kino on Corona Island.
Kino was... 'primitive' was the wrong word, I thought as I disembarked from the ferry, had my first good look, leading my trusted horse Asalcloig by his reins. It was rustic, sure, but also charming. Stone buildings were not in sight, instead huts of varying sizes. I think, that I saw at least one rice farm from the ship's deck.
It was beautiful.
And with Asalcloig by his reins, I was ready to charge in - but, unlike my famous ancestor Liam the Red, I would not come to murder, plunder and pillage, but to see, explore, experience and to see a beautiful friend of mine again.
I had my long, red hair braided up, wore horseman boots of good leather and long pants, a shirt covering my muscular torso, a cap on my head - hardly the attire one would associate with a Marcach, let alone one, who had fought with his Short Sword for the Elders' Trophy in Fortham in July.
Asalcloig was a different story. The Móinteán, or Moorlander, as his race was known, was black and had no markings, a sturdy horse for the moorlands, bogs and swamps around Bodmin and Lake Iasc, later brought to the Arctic Circle and my hometown of Conall Curach. He was bridled, his saddle and reins freshly cleaned last night. His saddlebags were filled with all I needed.
He, like myself, was happy to have dry land under his hooves again, as neither of us was a born sailor. His documents were with me, in my small backpack.
A lad and his horse arrived in Kino once we cleared customs... and I was looking for a very certain green-haired woman, who had dominated my dreams for a while now.
Gods, was I crushing on her? Maybe. It was not a bad feeling, though.

Cartoonians once again look towards their friends across the sea. The United Island States have been close friends with the Democratic Republic, and many have taken to traveling to the islands for holiday (or vacation, whichever they like to refer it to). Cartoonian cruise ships and ocean liners have always entered and exited the different ports of AHSCA for years. This year, despite the current pandemic, the cruise industry has only been affected back in Spring. With strict health and safety precautions taking place at the home port and on the ships, the cruise industry is back on its feet. Just in time for the Festival of The Holy Light, which is usually the Cartoonians’ favorite time to vacation on the islands before heading back to work or school for the fall.

S.S. Fairy Tail, North Atlantic Ocean, enroute to AHSCA. September 5, 2020, 11:00 AM

The SS Fairy Tail of the Jones-Williams Ocean Lines is usually chartered to transport passengers from Port Gallagher in Cartoonia to Port Aurora in the United Island States. It is a luxurious liner with all the amenities of modern cruises and the style and decadence of old ocean liners of the early and mid-20th Century. Some of the passengers are on board just to cruise. Others are here for a nice vacation, and who needs a more fine vacation than the former chancellor herself.

Erza Scarlet finally has her break. After 10 years of being head of the government and her military service in the past decades made her relieved that she was taking a nice, long, deserved vacation. She may look 25, but in reality she is 75. Cartoonians have a long history of looking relatively younger than others. They usually don’t show age until their death. But they do show signs of stress and fatigue. Her life has been nothing but stress and hard work. From her terrible past as a slave in the Tower of Heaven, to her revolt against the cultists with Cartoonia’s help, to her military service under the Fairy Tail Wizarder Brigade, to her appointment to the Toon Point Military Academy, her appointments as General of the 7th Army, Ambassador to Japan, her civil service as secretary of labor, to her election as Chancellor of Cartoonia. She has seen everything happen in her lifetime and has been through so much. It was finally time for her to relax and enjoy this wonderful country she has heard so much about. She usually wears heavy armor, even in the summer. But today, she has on her a white sleeveless, collared, blouse with a small, blue, ribbon necktie around the collar. On the bottom she wears a blue skirt that was knee-length. She lounges on the deck chair of the ship enjoying herself, and she is happy to spend it with the one she loves.

Jellal Fernandes has known Erza her entire life, for her too was a child slave at the Tower of Heaven and since his liberation has been working hard in government to repay those who have saved him. He started off as an apprentice to a police officer, and worked his way through university earning his masters in law at the University of Cartoon University of Beika City. In the seventies he worked as a civil servant in the newly formed Department of Magic where he rose to become the head of the dark magic location and research agency. He served as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the 1980s and in the 1990s began his service as ambassador. From Iraq, India, Italy, and Canada. In 2018, he was assigned the ambassadorship to the United Island States where he has been since then, and only went out for his campaign for the office of chancellor. They have worked hard throughout their lives, and now they are able to relax for the first time in forever. Jellal would usually wear his long black coat with his civilian medals on him and a dark purple shirt, complete with gray khakis and black boots. But today he is in more casual attire, a purple tank top that shows his fine physique and gray long shorts and red flip flops.

“I’m glad you’re taking this vacation Erza. I think it would be good for your health” Jellal says.

“I’ve been working harder in the past 10 years. I Definitely deserve a vacation. I’m just glad that I’m spending this vacation with you” she replies.

“We’ve been working hard our entire lives. I think we deserve a little time off from our lives in the modern world and relax. Fortunately this nation can help in relaxation. The United Island States have accepted thousands of Cartoon tourists around this time every year”.

“I heard. It must be a nice country for one to wind down from the modern world. A little piece of heaven on earth. I expect you know this much serving as ambassador to these islands”.

“I have been on the islands a couple of times, I know some great spots on the island for us to enjoy”

“I look forward to it”.

On the other side of the ship was another character that would be of focus. He is one of the most prominent film critics in Cartoonia. A portly fellow who is currently wearing a green Hawaiian shirt and orange shorts. This man is Jay Prescott Sherman. A man who has lived how he pleased. Cracking a few jokes and reviewing movies for Philips Broadcasting. Jay has been getting a little fatigued from watching hours of movie footage, as well as staring at a computer screen for hours. His wife Alice suggested that he goes on a little vacation to clear his mind and rejuvenate himself.

“Ah yes” Jay says to himself on the deck chair, “a whole entire week without movies, without work, without Schwarzenegger. Alice was right. A vacation is what I needed”. As the Cartoonians were on deck, the Captain gets on to the intercom.

“Hello this is your captain speaking. We are close to reaching the Port of Aurora, all passengers should head back to their cabins to prepare for customs. We know you have choices for traveling abroad, so thank you for choosing a Jones-Williams Ocean Liner, the luxury Cartoon Sea Service”. The ship, as it always has done, has the port in sight. The brass quintet comes up to play a tune for the departing guests of the ship. With the passangers having their belongings ready, they are ready to take on the riches and pleasures this island nation has to offer once again.

Hyeon-Mi Il,
Port Aurora, Aurora Island

A young princess here alone, well not alone, she had her trusted guard with her, but that was it. No entourage of other people with her, just her, and that's the way she wanted it right now. She wasn't hear to visit the Duchess, though she had the pleasure to meet her once, she wasn't here for Kuronami, she was just here for herself. She couldn't help but feel the police officer inspecting her and Ji-Yun was eyeing them with a great deal suspicion. They were traveling on sort of legally gray passports. Hardly black market but not exactly 100% honest either. It fudged a few details about her, namely details that'd make it easy to find out she was a Dominion Princess. But Hyeon-Mi really wanted to keep her presence here quiet. Even though she wasn't that high ranking of a noble she still didn't want anyone making a fuss over her and certainly didn't want to make a disturbance with her presence during an important and no doubt busy time for the locals.

"Very good." The officer told them, "Welcome to the UIS and please enjoy your time with us."

"Thank you we will.." Hyeon-Mi thanked taking her bag and passport and moved along now clear of their customs check in

"Milady, I'm starting to have doubts about this."

"Come now, I'm sure it's perfectly safe here and we have nothing to worry about. I read the corruption index here is surprisingly low for a developing nation."

"Mmmm if you think so, I don't doubt you did your studies on this place. But still, I didn't like the way that officer was eyeing us."

"Well maybe my disguise isn't super full proof."

"Cutting your hair shorter, doesn't make a disguise."

"All right so it's not exactly putting on a lot, but come on, Hang-Gang is the smallest Domain of Kuronami and --" she stopped herself of saying least significant "Well anyway, point is, I'm not exactly the most public figure like Her Majesty the Empress, I really doubt anyone here is going to recognize me."

"If you say so, Milady."

Walking down the streets of Aurora Hyeon-Mi certainly put on the tourist front, admiring just how built the "city" was though again you'd think this was something of a city locked in time. "I can't believe how much this looks like a city from home, a century ago!"

"It's very pleasing on the eyes and ability to walk without having to dodge vehicles. But no less on the people."

They weave around the various crowds of people. Walking just past the Kyrenaian Princess and her family accidentally bumping shoulders with them. "Oh begging your pardon." Hyeon-Mi excused herself and it seemed no offense taken as they moved along their path. Ji-Yun glanced back a moment as they passed along before being swallowed up by the crowd "Strange, she looks familiar to me."

"Will you just relax?"

"I don't mean like somebody with ill intent, just somebody I've seen before. Sorry. Milady, I'm rather hungry, don't suppose we could go along and find something to eat?"

"That's a great idea. Why don't we deposit our bags and have something good, huh?"

And so off they went to find their Inn and somewhere good to eat.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Aurora, Aurora Island, UIS.

We cleared customs quite easily, with our real passports - no need to hide, who we were, especially since we were in media relatively often (well, Dad and I in the news, Dad and Yasmin and I in the yellow press).
So, we threw ourselves into the crowd of festivalgoers, holding each others' hands so that we would not get separated, Aldhiyb on a leash close to me. This year, the turnout was considerably larger, but with the Astarian Vessels and their passengers experiencing the glories of mass tourism, that was no miracle.
I was not a fan and I could imagine, that the couple of hundred tourists from the Sultanate, who saw the UIS as a secret tip, weren't of a too different opinion.
No.
Bad Aurelia.
No griping about anyone today - I was back in the UIS and I would soon see Marcella, so no bad thoughts! Especially not wasting them on these blokes...
Anyway, I had a simple objective: During my first festival here, I had been in a shop with an absolutely adorable young Saleswoman, who had helped her mother and her girlfriend, where I bought my Yukata and provisions. Same the year after that. Three times the charm, eh?
I wanted to show that shop to Dad and Yasmin.
And I wanted to convince Yasmin to get herself a yukata, too.
Then someone bumped into my shoulder.
"Oh begging your pardon.", the woman said and I smiled, not recognizing her, but her companion seemed familiar...
I shook my head. "No harm done, but thank you."
And with that, they were gone.
And so were we, seeking something else, most likely.

Astares Amauricanum wrote:Joel Miller.

Currently serving in the 44th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Darius Company.

The officers on duty for customs inspection were honestly rather surprised how many tourists were visiting them this year, well again Corona being rather small just honestly never seemed to draw the tourists. But still the two women officers in uniform, dark hair and dark skin alike took a brief easy look through their belongings. "Yes, welcome to Corona. You're just arriving today, it's a bit of a shame you missed what gave our little island its namesake. Well in any case, please enjoy your stay with here. One more thing, our island has asked any visitors to please sign a pledge. It's a new custom this year but enforcement will only begin next year. But as natives, we ask you to please do so." Once that was signed, done, stamped and approved they were urged to move along. "Thank you, please enjoy your stay with us."

Port Aya was certainly bustling with new arrivals. Again the same customs applied, though they hadn't yet adopted the Corona pledge but word was getting around to the other islands and it was looking like it'd be adopted nationwide soon enough but for now it was the usual business of checking their documents, giving a stamp of approval asking any added questions. "Welcome to Port Aya." The officer welcomed "I hope you'll enjoy your stay and the festival with us." She held onto her policeman's cap, as weather forecast did call for breezy but nice conditions "And mind the winds." She giggled and ushered them along.

ANIMALPOLIS

Other guests from AA would be welcomed the same polite way with officers. But that said it's not as though AA didn't draw just a few side glances from people. Another large scale military buildup in the region just as what happened 25 years prior which lead to the invasion. Granted circumstances had certainly changed but it still drew concerns. Such a survivor of the conflict years back was a young fox woman named Sakura Shin who did lose an eye but not her life a thing she was grateful for. Honestly she'd sooner wash her hands of the spectacle of a bunch of tourists arriving on her home were she now not the proud owner of a little pub in the heart of Tsubaki. Not sure why she took it, she was happy living a quiet life in nearby Misakichi but well her friend the prior owner really insisted she take this. She did take a few friends from her village with her to help build the pub's reputation with new management, including a lovely couple from the village who had experience. Hikage Sawai and her soon-to-be-wife, Ichigo, two whom had certainly been seen at the little pub and inn back in Misakichii, always seemed to find themselves where the wind was blowing. Hikage, strong, riled and spunky was always good with people, Ichigo was a bit more timid, shy and uneasy but no less pleasant to be around. Hikage set down a few heavy sacks of rice. "Well that oughta cover us for the whole thing. Heya, boss, what's up with that?"

Hikage pointed to a sign that listed the prices for dishes and drinks, pretty typical rates for any little watering hole in the middle of a major village such as this but with one added point, written in bold font. HUMAN SURCHARGE: 150 Credits. "New business policy of mine." Sakura flatly replied to her.

"Eeeh look you're the boss and running the joint here but are ya sure that's legal?"

"It is. I checked all the laws and nothing says I can't charge extra for certain needs. And well let's face it, humans, especially outsider humans, are largely responsible for all things wrong in this world today. Up to me, I'd refuse service but that is against the law."

"Eeeh, I think we're just gonna lose business on that, especially during the festival."

"Tch. Honestly if an annoying outsider is really put off by that small of a surcharge then they can go anywhere else they like. It's a free country last I checked."

"Well if you say so. Well anything else we need?"

"I think we're all set. Take a load off for a bit before we get busy. By the way, you two still planning on your wedding tonight?"

"Well reckon' long as it don't rain or thunder, why not. Ichigo has her heart set on being married during the Festival."

"Which one of you doing the walk, anyway?"

"Ichigo."

"Really? Didn't expect her of all people to do it"

"I know right?! By the Goddess I love that girl! Boss you gotta tell me ya comin to watch."

"Considering she's doing it, how could I not? So after that, then what? You two gonna hunker down through the rains and just go at it like a couple of rabbits?"

"Oh my so lewd! Hahaha as a matter of fact, we're gonna go travel. Maybe see places like Kyrenaia, Mokastana, The Freelands."

"Tch, plenty to do here, don't know why you gotta go off on the angry seas to see places that can't stand the sight of you already but it's your Credits. Just watch yourselves out there, I sure as hell aint gonna come rescue ya."

"Aww thanks for caring boss, I always knew you had a heart of gold under your rough grumpy exterior."

"Yah yah already, go rest up a bit before the rush comes in, can't have both of you tired when business needs to be done."

"Surely!"

Kyrenaia wrote:Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.

AURORA

If the family was hoping to pay another visit to The ever popular Twin Palms shop, well again they'd certainly be in luck for the booming business. In fact since Aurelia's stop in last time, business had actually been booming. Admittedly there were a fair few lookyloos to maybe see if they could catch glance of a foreign princess but still plenty were there to buy from the shop and the owners couldn't be more thrilled. There was a sign that did announce they'd be closing early tonight, but that was in the evening, morning goers had plenty of time to shop. After all Kumiko was a family woman now, a wife and of course her still little girl, Mamiko, to enjoy the festival with. Aya the co-owner hadn't yet snagged a special someone but oh well she too could use some time to enjoy the festivities. It maybe religious but it still was festive. "Welcome." Aya greeted them "Oh, wait I think I remember you." She didn't raise her voice or make a fuss but she did recognize Aurelia in particular. "Welcome back for another festival. And brought a lot of people with you huh? Well that's excellent. What can I do for you today?"

CORONA

The young man with the horse had certainly drew eyes of people who were surprised if not confused. Children especially were urging their parents to please let them see the horse maybe ride it, as unlikely a ride would be but still folks gathered around. "My my, what a lovely horse!" A young woman approached. "We don't usually see many around these parts. Not as often as oxen. Welcome, stranger." She greeted him "Don't suppose you're looking to sell? Or you just visiting hoping to ride along the beaches?"

Cartoonia wrote:Cartoonians once again look towards their friends across the sea.

With the passengers having their belongings ready, they are ready to take on the riches and pleasures this island nation has to offer once again.

Of course the ship was able to dock no issue, passengers that disembarked were inspected, had documents stamped with approval and were given the standard polite greetings of "Welcome to the islands, we hope you enjoy your stay."

Dawn Of The First Day
Aceus Elurion, King of Danceria

Port of Kino, Corona Island
CURRENT FORECAST: Humid and solitary, with a chance of horseback

A rustic island gained a rustic pair of visitors, one astride horseback like the riders of old, and one more saddened and burdened. Upon the silver-grey haired man’s back were simple robes, and much of his luggage. He regarded the rider with a smile, and kept his distance with most folk unless they approached him, his journey lay before him and spurring onward.

For who else would deign to mingle with the commoners than King Aceus Elurion, twice-visitor of the islands, who came to beseech the Goddesses and Yue, and who under cover of crowd and incognito erected small shrines across the islands in Yue’s name? Then again, who may remember him, for he was a forgettable king and man-at least if you asked him. All he did was help where he could, and prayed, and that was the purpose of his pilgrimage here. Straight to the Great Temple the older man walked.

Theomer Eorlmyn, Student, Wanderer, and Prine to Be

Ferry Port, Aurora
CURRENT FORECAST: Humid and solitary

He had never been one for the sweltering tropics, but so far, but he had to once more concede to the counsel of the Spiorad-specifically a Miss Blaidd, of Tralee descent. Yet it was also from pressure due to his Uncle, a certain Rev. Stavros Galanis who had long since mentored and guarded him, grooming him to take the throne. Apparently, the islands, especially during the time of this very festival, were a haunt for the Valarist King, who came to give meditation and prayer as a wandering mendicant. Theomer held no ill will towards His Current Majesty, though he knew his destiny was indeed to rule for the sake of the Christian populace, yet he was both pushed and pulled by factors beyond the young man’s reckoning. The sea called to their ancient Númenórean blood like an awaiting mother, and his heterochromic eyes shone the heritage of Eorl and Elurín, as much as he dared not to admit it. Yet now, those eyes shone under the summer sun, the light glinting off of the tanned body from years of hard work.

He seemed to be one of a number of handsome travellers, light of hair, tall and broad, wearing swim trunks, tank top draped with a button down shirt, his swim trunks and sandals. Wide he surveyed the already crowded streets of Aurora, the tourists and the locals peddling their wares, comparing them to the shores of the River Entwash where he learned to swim, the shores of the Long Lake during his studies in Esgaroth, an even the inland Sea of Rhûn...yet never had he felt the true vastness of the Ocean Blue until now, bearing down upon a man who was so used to the wide open plains and forests of his home in Rohan. It was good to have recognized at least a single island in the midst of oceans, metaphorical and otherwise, for he found a certain Spiorad that he had the pleasure of studying alongside.

Navigating through the throngs of people, he called out to the Spiorad in question, after fumbling over the words in Tafod, clambering together a question in Selkie, and finally in English. “Miss Elin! Hey!” he smiled as he finally found his way to the lighter haired of the Blaidd twins, though he himself did not know they were related...Well, he knew Elin had a sister, he just didn’t pry more into familial affairs more than necessary.

Joel Miller.
Kino, Corona Island.

"Of course, we will gladly do so." I reply as the officers ask us to sign a pledge. After having put my passport back in my pocket, I take a ballpen out and sign the sheet, before handing the pen to Sarah who sogns it too, followed by her uncle and finally her aunt.
"Thank you very much for your welcome." says my brother to the officers as he picks up his pack again. "Don't worry, even though we seem to come en masse, our intention is not to harm this land by mass tourism. Have a nice festival." he finishes with a nod, before joining us as we get on our bikes and start to ride towards the town proper.
"So, what do you think we should do first?" asks Maria from the back.
"Well, "I reply, "why not go see the shops first? I heard that the local's craftmanship is world class, they manage to do exquisite pieces with just a few things."
"Oh yeah, super idea Dad!" exclaims Sarah with joy. "Let's do that first!" she adds before starting to pedal rapidly, gaining speed and moving away from us.
"Hey baby girl, slow down!" I call to her as the rest of us start to accelerate too, towards the town.

After a few more minutes, we arrive near what seems to be a local district. So, as all of us get down from our bikes and continue on foot, pushing them with us, we start to look for any shop that would catch our attention...

Staff Sergeant Abigail "Abby" Anderson
Port Aya, Hoshino

"Don't worry, we'll be careful." replies Owen with a large smile to the custom's officer warning about the winds. "Thank you very much Ma'am. Enjoy your festival too." I add before putting back my passport in my pocket.
As we ride on our bikes away from the port, I clearly see that the arrival of so many tourists in this place is not something the locals are accustomed to. And I can already hear the voices here and there saying that mass tourism will not arrange anything, yadda yadda. Meh, these punks will see in time that us Astarians are very respectful towards the nature, and that we know to only touch with our eyes.
"Something bothering you Abby?" asks Owen, causing me to come back to my senses.
"Nah, not something major, just thinking about how our arrival here is not something the locals are used to, and the fears that we may hurt this land with mass tourism.
*Come on, you know that's not gonna happen, quotas have been put in place for travel in the UIS, so the number of tourists will be regulated." replies my friend with a smile as he bumps my shoulder, causing me to nearly trip from my bike.
"Hey!" I shout. "Not nice man."
-Says the woman who always thinks about the bad in everything." he replies with a small smirk.
"Not always, but... meh, let's leave it aside. What do you want to do first?" I ask to change the subject.
"Well, I wouldn't mind trying a small food joint first, and then go to see a temple. What do you say?"
"Seems like a good idea." I reply, before we continue on our merry way.

A few minutes later, we arrive to what seems to be a small pub/tavern.
"Well, let's see what they have inside." says Owen as we get down from our bikes and park them near a tree, attaching them to it with a padlock. "Ready for breach Sarge?" he asks as he extends his arm towards the door to allow me to come first.
"Uh, let's not startle the locals with our military jokes shall we?" I reply with the same smirk before entering the pub...

Tess Dileva
Aurora Village, Aurora Island

AHSCA, it's like a second home for her, so many memories had been made here and so many more would be made. That was the thoughts that filled this girl's mind, she has been around here for a month or so to surprise her beloved but of course; for that she had to wait until it was safe enough and in order for her to travel without the issue of college being a problem, she had to make work assignments... Lot's of assignments.
But in the end they were worth the work, plus most of the nation was at home during the quarentine so that was the only way to kill time alongside her hobbies or spending time with her family mostly.

It was all worth if that meant to be here with the love of her life, someone that filled her with joy and was glad to have ever known. Satou was her one and only one.

However since the virus meant that any travel abroad had to be done safely and that meant that she had to first be 14 days in quarantine before leaving Mervay and another 14 days in quarantine when landing in The Embassy Isle, all of July was spend on quarentine and was recently able to get into Aurora by the last days of that month. And so she would be able to stay for august, september and if all went well, perhaps until new year if the stars allign in her favour of course.

But now let's get to the present, she was dressed with the same yukata that she bought two years ago which was always confortable to wear. Her eyes were locked on what her wife's friend and renowed chef Hiromi Hongo was taking out of her cooling rack and it didn't dissapoint, some nice mini pies that seemed delicious, they would certainly sell nice and considering her reputation from being one of the chefs of the Kitan, it might help the mouth to mouth publicity for her bakery.

As soon as she told them to try it, Tess, not wasting the opportunity joined as well on tasting a piece of the pie to find it delicious. It was worth the wait certainly.

"It's delicious!" She exclaimed before getting back to eat it before continue. "If this is the experimental recipe, then I can't wait for the defenitive one!" The Mervayan grinned at her.

Eduard De La Mercant
Port Tsubaki, Animalpolis

Finally after a few months of work, here he was, AHSCA. The entire travel was worth the wait, he really needed these vacations after having working for too long and considering how he was dressed, one could say he wasn't a doctor which were the ones that had a lot of work, Lieutenant Colonel Eduard De La Mercant from the Royal Marines of Mervay. He had been in the military ever since 12 years ago and his rank came for the time he has been in the military, he has seen action thanks to his abilities and the fact he was assigned or rather, joined in, an special unit from the Marine Corps and the Mervay Royal Navy. Thankfully tho, the massive events were little to count and most of his time in that was focused on training since there hasn't been a war around Mervay or it's surrundings for quite a long time maybe since 40 to 50 years. Of course, better be ready for if it happens.

As soon as Mr. De La Mercant landed in Animalpolis he would find himself with quite the amount of people around, after having all his stuff checked and that included showing his ceremonial sword; he found surprising the amount of Astarian tourists, which would be normal on times like this since we were in middle of the festivities and many people came for them but; the reason it was surprising was the fact that... They were all soldiers. It seemed like if all military personnel from their base at Islas Malditas or a mix of civilians and military personnel from those islands. It certainly was a surprise, and not that he did cared, everyone was free to do what they wanted and he wouldn't mind, but still; it was a surprise for sure. More considering most of the world is still recovering from the virus.

While wandering around the village, the Lt Colonel noticed the warm and charm of the island and the most populous city in all the nation from what he could read on his way here, no wonder why so many Mervayans come to the islands in general, they had a special charm that few places are able to pull off. But tourism will have to wait; first, find a place where to stay and then explore the island.

"Oh, right, you don't know each other!", I said and smiled, "Theomer, my little sister Branwen. Branwen, a fellow student of mine at the UoL and a friend, Theomer Eorlmyn."
"Pleasure to meet you, Theomer.", Branwen said and bowed her head lightly, as it was custom with the Selkie. "Though Elin is my older sister only by a few minutes."

Mid Morning, As the AHSCA lacks a full airstrip big enough for a modern land based aircraft, the only way onto the islands are naturally by sea, howeer Kyrken and wife Sojourner also have a liking of history so what a better way than to get to the islands than to book a flight on an old warbird, this one however is perfectly able to set down at the AHSCA for its time in military service it hunted U-boats, tracked and harrassed Japanese shipping as well as rescued downed airmen and it dit it with distinction for their aircraft is a Consolidated PBY5A Catalina.

Taking off from a land based airport, it was a 5 hour flight in order to grt to where they need to be, Kyrksen and Sojourner knelt on on smart leather seats in one of the aircraft's 2 blister fairings where the machine gunners used to sit as the plane cruised at a heady speed of 100mph, just a bit lower than its cruising speed of 125mph before being videoed by a local resident, the Catalina itself is a slow old bird powered by two Pratt and Whitney 14 cylinder radial engines and has a maximum speed of 196mph, a fighter from the same period would get to around 300mph, but that is not the point of the Catalina, its a tough old bird and has many virtues including the ability to loiter for long periods of time and during the second world war, 18 hour operations were but not unknown, this makes their ride to the islands more than ideal.

As the plane cruised low over the islands to give Kyrksen and Sojourner a view of the islands, its volcanoes that rose out of the ocean many, many years ago, to the rain forests and tropical forests that make up todays fauna, the area echoed to the sound of its engines purring as the white Catalina PBY5A cruised towards the harbour and its aquatic landing strip, the pilot throttling the engines back gently, after all he knew how to treat this old girl which was well into her 78th year of flying, flying her with no particular place to be and in no hurry to be anywhere, however soon it had to be that Kyrksen and Sojourner had to be down on the ground as they had to be at a festival, but whilst flying over the landscape, Kyrksen was photographing the landscape as Sojourner shot some video from the other blister fairing, that was until the pilot announced the landing however as he did so he put the plane into a steeply angled turn to give Kyrk and Sojourner along with the other guests a view of the harbour, before lining up for a final approach and then slowly decending to the water to make a smooth landing, rather than slamming the plane hard onto the water, the pilot gently let the plane float down, first the keel touched the water, then at that point the engines were brought back to idle and slowly the 78 year old white Catalina offered itself to the water to make a smooth landing.

Kyrk put his arm around Sojourner, gave her a passionate kiss
"we're here babe" he says, sofly as they reached down to pick up their luggage whilst the pilot gently threaded the Catalina towards the shoreline and a slipway, normally used to put small boats in the water, as he did so the planes wheeled undercarriage was also lowered to allow it to leave the water and become landborne for a few hours.

"I think I spotted our villa too" commented Sojourner, aka Jo

"well lets get ourselves checked in and sorted" replied Kyrksen, before exchanging details with the co-pilot so he can email him the video footage later whilst the pilot went through the post flight checks.

Corona's Great Temple was less of a singular temple structure like it's neighbors and more a complex of several buildings in this case. It'd be easy to see it as a singular building given it was the tallest structure in Kino and probably the island, that included The Chief's own residence. The people here value their faith and religion almost above all else. But it was open, doors opened to visitors to enter. The interior was quite spacious indeed, again not as elaborate as its neighbors but no less nice. Books, mats, tables and chairs lined the first building. Straight on through the center was another open door that would lead out to the garden, should he so choose. In the meanwhile the attending Priestess of the lobby greeted him. She was fairly petite, dark skinned long dark brown hair tied back in a long nice ponytail. One could mistake her for a young child were it not for her proportions in the middle. Her Priestess robe was a sleeveless variety but still bore the traits of your average Priestess here. "Welcome, sir" She greeted him. The influx of people had trickled down so he was the first new arrival in a while and it was pretty apparent he wasn't Coronan at least.

Kino

The bustling town filled with plenty of people with come and go needs. if a shop they were looking for there was a perfect little hut nestled on the corner. A welcoming sign with a happy little sun drawn on it, saying "bonvenon" scrawled in a bit messy handwriting, no doubt from a child but it was there to say "come on, we're open."

Upon entering they would see plenty of handcrafted goods, clothing displayed for men and women alike. Gear for fisherman and sailors, lanterns for your nighttime needs A few maps and guides of the island and other islands. "Oh be with you in a minute!" a woman's voice called out. Then emerged from a small door behind the counter was the said woman. A young lady dressed well...didn't leave a lot to the imagination but she was covered enough..."Oh hello!" She was a bit surprised not expecting foreign tourists. At least she assumed so given they weren't really dressed like natives and seemed to have a fair amount of baggage on them. "Welcome, see anything you like, maybe I can find something for you? Answer any questions?"

Port Aya

Upon entering the rather busy tavern they were instantly greeted by a young woman. "Good day, folks! Care for a table, maybe a place at the bar? We're pretty busy already but I think we can find you a good place."

Hiromi squeed with delight "I'm so glad you both enjoy them. I really worked long and hard to get this right. If I'm gonna be successful, I really gotta stand out from the Kitan."

"I bet you're gonna do great. People loved your dishes and especially deserts there. We do miss you a lot, Hiromi."

"I miss everyone there too, especially the Manager."

"Oh my, my ears are burning." The voice of said woman they spoke of had just entered. The tall lovely Spiorad fox woman who ran the prestigious resort. "Oh, manager!"

"Good day everyone, good day. " She came and sat down at a table "Manager please try one of my newest recipes."

She took her bites "Hiromi you still have your magic touch. I know you're going to do great, I'm already trying to send a little business your way."

"Oh really, you're so kind, you don't have to."

"Come now, being cutthroat is for pirates." She turned her attention over to Tess and Satou. "Oh and Miss Dileva, how nice it is to see you again. Enjoying your time on the islands? Hope your journey here was all right. And you, Satou, you ran out in such a hurry the other day you forgot your wages." Reaching into the pocket of her kimono, she pulled out an envelope containing Satou's pay. "Oh my how silly of me."

"Can't very well enjoy the festival with empty pockets, now can you?"

"So manager, your older and wiser," Hiromi chatted serving up tea for everyone "Do you think we're going to have a really wet rainy season?"

"My dear if I could predict the weather like you think I could, I'd probably be working for The Duchess and her weather department. I know as much as what everyone else knows." Well maybe she had a few inklings but really who could say in this day and age.

"You did predict we wouldn't see any hurricanes and you were right."

"Mostly right, one did pass over Animalpolis."

"As a minor storm in the end."

"Well it was again a lucky guess. Maybe other Spiorads out there have better sense of the weather but I'm not one. I could tell you plenty of stories of things I thought I knew but was wrong on but no need to hear the dull stories of me, I really want to hear how Miss Dileva is doing. Or should I say Missus now that you've tied the not with dear Satou here. "

The big bustling port had no shortage of places to nestle down for a stay in. Some rather big inns too at varying rates but a good deal were already full but one still had vacancies for wayward travelers who weren't able to reserve well in advance or were first timers and didn't know much about the islands.

A young girl stood on the side ringing a bell to call and announce space at their inn "space, we got rooms! We got rooms! Rates at 1120 a night! Free public baths, meals included."

"Ah a yukata is what you're in the market for huh? Come to the right place. Kumiko! You have a client!" She called for her partner. "Nobody will get you fitted best like her, it helps she always wears them."

Kumiko emerged from the back setting down a box that she was ready to put out but it would wait. "Excellent, come for a fitting? I can take care of that. We have plenty ready made ones but if there's something else you'd like I can have one ordered for you, chances are it wouldn't be more than a day. Trust me my favorite seamstress has been pulling overtime on it. But come maybe see what you like, I can get you measured and fitted for one."

While he did that and Kumiko took care of Yasmin, "Now first is first, let's pick out some patterns and colors you might like. Plenty of nice looking ones, unique colors and patterns. Well her Residence is down the road but last I heard she was wandering the streets a bit so hang here maybe she'll find us given the commotion you've stirred up."

indeed a few more had gathered to really take in the sight of the man and his trusty companion who had arrived. But a police officers whistle started to disperse the crowd "Come folks, let's not block the paths and allow people to walk" She ushered. "Oh good day, sir. And Kuko."

"Bero." the two ladies indeed knew each other

"He's here to see The Chief."

"Chief Ayla huh? Last I saw her was near the Center Square. But what does this strange man have with the Chief? Unusual for our leader to have a foreign court with a guest, that is usually reserved for The Duchess."

"Ah come off it. If this guy was some crazy guy, The Chief could easily handle him."

"Mmm maybe so but I also have to be concerned for the safety of everyone else in town."

"He made it to port did he not? Then he would have easily passed any checks."

"Mmm very well. Tell you what, the three of us will find The Chief together. That way if he does something foolish and lives to tell about it, you an him can be mates on nigra insulo."

That did make Kuko swallow a bit hard but she agreed "All right, then I stake my reputation on it."

"You don't have a reputation. Very well, come along." she led them along to the town center. As promised Ayla was indeed there. Admiring the statue of her former husband as she often did. Giving it a bit of a polish on her own, "Ahem. Milady Chief."

Ayla turned about her face lit up seeing Aonas. "Aonas! You made it!"

"So you do know this man, Chief?"

"I do indeed. We met last December and well it's a long story after that."

"Then please excuse me, sir" Bero removed her cap and apologized.

A busy morning for the little island of Corona as now a decent sized water plane landed nearby. Well it was fine but a rare sight. Police dispatched to give a check and welcome the new arrivals. A small boat approached and they bid "Good morning. Papers please?"

Indeed, we saw the little hut, and the child handwriting just begged us to visit it, so that's what we did.
As we enter, a young, and I would dare say handsome young woman, appears behind the counter.
"Hello Miss." I try to say with my most charming smile. "I'm Joel Miller, this is my daughter Sarah, my brother Tommy and his wife Maria." I add as I show them, before they also say Hello. "We are Astarians working on the Islas Malditas, and this is our first time here. So since we don't know much about here, could you please help us with our shopping selection, give us a few pointers?
-Just to tell you, anything you have interests us." adds my brother with a smile of his own.

"A table if you have one please. And before we order anything, could you please bring us two glasses of a local beer if you have any?" asks Abby with a smile to the waitress.

We have plenty ready made ones but if there's something else you'd like I can have one ordered for you, chances are it wouldn't be more than a day. Trust me my favorite seamstress has been pulling overtime on it. But come maybe see what you like, I can get you measured and fitted for one."

Aya nodded in agreement for Kumiko and as well as Aurelia's father who decided to brows on his own. "Let me know if I can help you." While he did that and Kumiko took care of Yasmin, "Now first is first, let's pick out some patterns and colors you might like. Plenty of nice looking ones, unique colors and patterns. Some find the longer more formal ones a bit cumbersome so I can customize a shorter one that leaves your knees exposed and functions a bit more like a dress. " she waited for Yasmin's feedback.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Twin Palms Shop.

Kumiko appeared again, appraising Yasmin and making us aware of her offers - including a shorter Yukata, which left the knees open when compared to the longer and more cumbersome one. I knew, how cumbersome one of these dresses could be, but Yasmin...
"I'd take a long, traditional one.", she said as we followed the seamstress, leaving Dad to his fate.
"Thank you, I might come back to you on that one.", I heard him say to Aya.
And we were off.
Yasmin had a clear image in mind: She wanted, as she told Kumiko, something to bring out her eyes, so maybe something in a deep red? And while she was not against showing off her curves, she wanted a dress, that only hinted at them, leaving enough to the imagination and allure...

Aonas Folracht of the Tribe of Wicklow.
Port of Kino, Corona Island.

The commotion, as it turned out, attracted the attention of a guardswoman, Bero, as it turned out - the surprise of being under scrutiny of the City Guard nearly overrode my relief at not needing to drop, that the Ayla I was looking for was the local Chief.
A fact, which Kuko pointed out quickly.
As I bowed my head to the guardswoman in respect and politely returned her greeting, the two conversed, including the suspicion of me being cra-cra. If I were, I was quite sure, that Ayla would have a hard time with me - but I wasn't, so while the suspicion smarted, I tried to think rational.
Of course they would look out for their Chief, much like we looked out for our Elders.
We went to look for Ayla together, though, found her at the foot of a large statue, where she immediately identified me - Bero was flustered, but so was I.
Ayla was... maybe more beautiful then I remembered.
I had a hard time turning my eye away from her and onto Bero, bowing my head.
"No need to apologize, Milady Guardswoman. You were just doing your duty.", I said and rose, then turned back to Ayla, smiled. "So... considering I was suspected of having bad intentions with you, I'd rather ask: May I hug you, Ayla?"
I opened my arms wide.

Nela, Prinzessin von Zieselhaven und Elms.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

Someone wanted to impress my best friend.
That someone was Isbert, Fürst von Biberbach, a small, rich nation close to our homeland of Teressien, a charming, good-looking man, who's idea of a courtship present was a ninety meter long yacht. I had the feeling, that he was really head over heels and that this would not be the last of the things Rena would have to show... the horsewoman, currently working on her Doctor Thesis for Equestrian Medicine, had no idea how to deal with this, though.
This was, where I came in and my recommendation had been simple: A maiden voyage for the Wellenreiter. And here we were, in Port Aya, Hoshino, United Island States of AHSCA.
We had docked during the night, the two of us sleeping soundly in our bedrooms - Rena in the Master Suite, I in one of the guest suites - and now... with the Festival of Holy Light today, it was a beautiful day, the streets were bustling and two Teressian Tourists, even Princesses, would most likely pass unnoticed to but the keenest of eyes.
Rena had short, red hair, a sporty built (in other words, she was muscular, but flat as a board) and had pleasant, brown eyes. She had swapped lance and leather armour for a white, sleeveless sun dress with a sun hat made of straw, a pair of sunglasses making her look like the tourist she was. A small handbag held papers, which we had needed at customs, her wallet, the small ACS-3 Handgun, which we both had for self-defense, and a few other things. Under her sun dress, I knew, she wore a red and white tankini with golden highlights, which emphasized her few curves.
I, on the other hand, was, shall we say... better equipped, if you catch my meaning, busty, and with long, luxurious, violet hair, which was held a bit in check by a black, iron tiara. As the laterborn Princess, of a Herzogtum, where women in leadership positions were scoffed at, I had a few liberties, which also extended to the way I presented myself: I wore a pair of black hot pants and a tank top with a halterneck and a generous cleavage in the same colour, a pair of strappy heels being more like sandals in that they showed off the majority of my feet, thin straps wrapped around my ankles. I also carried a handbag, filled with largely the same things as Rena's, though I also had two swimsuits with me, one a one-piece, which one might as well also buy in a lingerie store, the other a purple bikini with sarong for a more public outing. Sunglasses were pushed up into my hair, violet eyes looking at everything around us.
Aurelia had been right, the lands of her girlfriend were beautiful.
Aya was quaint, especially when compared to a bustling industrial metropolis like Zieselhaven, and quite pretty. Tabby's Point, the mountain overlooking the island, reminded me a bit of home, though the mountains were a bit further away. I knew a bit about the history of this place, too, the Tragedy of Chief Mako.
If Isbert would come to love Rena with similar intensity?
"So...", said redhead tore me out of my thoughts, "Where to first?"
I thought for a moment. "How about breakfast?"
"But we already had breakfast.", Rena complained.
"We had first breakfast.", I corrected, then smiled, "What about second breakfast?"
"And Elevenses and Luncheon and how they're all called?", Rena countered with a good natured grin, glancing at my ample chest: "Now I know, how those two got so large - the fat had to go somewhere!"
I laughed.
"Fun aside, though...", Rena said and smiled, "...a little snack might not be too bad."
We started looking around - what would we find? A stall selling something to eat? Or a stall with something more interesting?

Kyrksen and Sojourner were expecting to be greeted on land as the Catalina, being amphibious has the ability to land on water, on land or transition between the two and the pilot was planning to come up a shallow slipway to disembark his passengers, however they came by on a launch. The only thing is, where the police officers need to come aboard is right where the propeller disc is as such the pilot gestures to the slipway where he then allows the police officers to process the papers of the passengers, being chopped up by the propellers would not be good, not for the planes propellers or the 2 police officers.

Once ashore and the propellers have stopped turning, the pilot and co pilot allow the police officers to come aboard to process the the documents.
Kyrksen hands the papers over,
"Good morning" he says with a smile, his arm around Sojourner who also hands the officer her papers.

Once papers checked, they climb down from the Catalina onto the ground, after which Kyrk takes a few photos of the Catalina sat on the hard standing, in a few hours it will be taking off again to fly back to where it came from.

Sojourner gives the officer a smile, "having a good morning?" she asks, with a smile.

Over at Port Aurora, Tricia and Nebraska were also in the process of arriving, their arrival by sea thanks to a frequent water bus that hops across between a few nations that neighbour the AHCSA, Nebraska, destinctive in the fact that she sports a bald head with 9, yes 9 transdermal spikes following the line that a mohawk style would have, and she's had them now since she was 18 and wearing a black skin tight mono-sleeve outfit and a pair of black skintight pants, Tricia on the otherhand was wearing a pair of leather pants and a tube top, topped off with a leather jacket.

Nebo scoops up her backpack, followed closely by Tricia and yes there is a travelling companion for them, a cat, the cat is clipped on a leash
"nebs, you're gonna get your head sunburned!"commented Tricia

"Nah" she replied, "I have suncream, LOTS of suncream, However lets make our way through the checkpoint" she says, pointing with her uncovered arm

together as the gangway lowers to the shore, Tricia and Nebraska make their way through to the checkpoint.

Eanswythe Thornton
Aurora, Aurora Island
Good god, I hated ships.
No, not literary ships, although those are bad too. I mean the tin cans meant for shunting men and material from A to B over area C given that C was a body of water. I spent most of the journey holed up in a bunk and trying not to puke.
Still, I had arrived in AHSCA. Here's hoping it would be enough.
It certainly would be enough for Alice, though. That madwoman loved ships, and had wanted to visit AHSCA for some god-forsaken reason, and somehow she had convinced me to join along.

Who's Alice? Ah, yes, time for context.

I am Eanswythe Thornton, as indicated by the little text up at the top, but for brevity's sake, please call me Eileen. You probably couldn't pronounce my proper name anyway. I was here with my friend, Alice Lipka.

We were both dressed in the dull-green uniform of our boarding school- Warsaw Royal Artillery. It's not a bad uniform; it's suprisingly comfy, but still, skirt could be longer, and the bayonets...well, they could have at least given us proper scabbards that covered the entirety of our bayonets. As it was, our leather "scabbards" were basically just the equivalent of one of those cupholders with empty bottoms, but for a blade that wasn't entirely ceremonial.

Now...for Alice. The tales I could tell you of Alice and her insanity could fill an entire novel, so I'll leave them for another time. Just know that she once got us kicked out of a tankery competition in the Free Lands by trying to smuggle in a live semi-automatic grenade launcher. To cook potatoes.

As we descended the gangplank of our ship, I wondered how we looked. Alice, for her part, was slouching a bit, and was grinning like a maniac. I probably looked too serious, but it was my job. I ran half-a-dozen T-72s, and goofing off wasn't going to make our rivals at Konigsberg Military School, Warsaw Royal Infantry, or Gdansk Naval Academy shut up.

My train of thought was interrupted by shouting from Alice.

"We've made it, Eileen!" she said, after we got onto dry land. She set down her travelling-case for a bit. "This is it!"

"Yeah..." I said, setting my own case down. "Now what?"
Alice shrugged. "Drop our shit off at an inn. We'll figure it out from there, aye?"
"...We're done for. Absolutely done for."
"Oh, come off it. Going places with no clue where we're headed is half the fun, innit?"
I rolled my eyes as we picked our cases back up, and continued on our merry way. The sun was shining, it was hot outside, we were in a tropical nation, and I was with Alice.

Sure, we were probably metaphorically screwed, but still. Good weather, from what I'd seen, and a good place, from the 5 minutes I've been in it so far, with a good friend. Life couldn't get better.
With that in mind, we linked arms, and headed inland.

Two girls, both in green uniforms, approached the customs officer, with their arms linked and carrying leather travelling-cases, as well as rucksacks. The older of the two had her face set in neutral and seemed to almost goose-step as she walked, while the other seemed more bubbly and cheerful, constantly craning her neck to catch a glimpse of the port.
At last, the two girls came to the booth. "Eanswythe Thornton." stated the older girl, setting passport down. "One bayonet.

"G'day!" greeted the younger, handing over her own papers. "Alice Lipka, one bayonet to declare."

The customs officers would notice an odd thing. Both girls wore the same uniforms, both of their visas identified them as Prussian-Poles...
But Alice Lipka had handed over an American passport.

Otulissa von Sarmaten

Salt, sea, and vomit.
Those were the three things that I had smelled for the past week, but now I was off the ship and free as a bird.
Well, nearly. Still had customs to deal with. But that should be no issue.

I was...hm. Is 'dressed to impress' the right term here, when one is wearing the uniform of an international pariah state? To be precise, the uniform of the Syrian Arab Army?
Technically, I wasn't even Syrian. My distant ancestors hailed from the same region, but we had been, more or less, genetically Prussian-Polish for the better part of a few centuries. I could still swear in Syriac and Greek, sure, but it wasn't the same, was it?

Hopefully, this land would be less...judgemental, and more willing to hear me out. I knew of the SAA's portrayal in the west, and while not entirely undeserved, I had personally never taken part in any...distateful actions.

Unless they were against a...very certain group of jihadists, but that's another story and I don't feel like telling it right now. Another time, perhaps.

I pushed those thoughts out of my mind. I was here to unwind a little, away from both family and war. Not dwell on my past actions.
I fixed my garrison-cap upon my head, and approached customs. I handed over a bunch of documentation, among them my Syrian passport.
"Otulissa von Sarmaten." I stated. "I wish to declare one M1911 pistol, and 28 rounds of .45 ACP ammuniton."

Several days before. Palo Alto, Toccamare Province.

In the coastal city of Palo Alto, a young brunette was almost unable to control her excitement. She had just got off of work and now free for the week to hit the UIS, she headed to the trolley stop and waited for the lift back to the family apartment. Arriving at the building, she ran up the stairs with a smile and eventually entered her home. She greeted whoever was present, who at the moment were her mother and father, the former cleaning up in the kitchen and the latter sitting on the balcony having a smoke.

Approaching her father, he stood up as she gave him a hug and a kiss "Hello."

"Hello mija. How are you?"

"Fine. Just something I need to ask."

"And what is it?"

"I'm...planning a vacation." she answered, trying not to look her father in the eyes. "Can I go?"

"A what? A vacation?" he took the pipe from his mouth and the shades off "Where? How long? With who? With what money?"

"To some islands for a couple days by myself with money I saved." she answered quickly. "I kinda already bought tickets."

"By yourself? To some random islands I don't know about. Well...fine, but you're not going alone."

"What? Why not?"

"Because I don't want you to." he commanded "Where's you brother? He'll go with you."

"Felix? No, he's not the vacationing type."

"And you are?" just as he said that, the door opened and in entered Felipe. "Ah, my son. I have great news."

"Yeah? What is it?" he tiredly asked as dropped himself on the couch. From the looks of it, he spent his day at the gym again.

"You're accompanying Ana on a little vacation."

"What?" he stood up quickly "I can't just pack up and go take a trip, I'm training. The Pancracio is three weeks away, and the qualifiers are a week before that."

"Then relax before the qualifiers at some islands with your sister."

"I'm not going."

Present. Aurora Island.

"I can't believe I actually came with you." Felipe said as they made it past customs. He was only met with his sister's smile. "So, what's on the itinerary?" He put on his sunglasses, completing his tropical look white tank top, grey sunhat and shorts. Letizia similarly wore a white blouse and grey shorts.

"Oh, we'll think of something."

"We? What do you mean 'we'? You telling me this whole thing is on the spot?"

"No no. Not really. I did some research. There's at least one place we can anchor down before we start exploring."

"Lead the way." Felipe. They soon headed to the Kitan.

"I'll do the English speaking." she said. Heading towards the inn, they took in the sights as they went by. When they arrived, they approached reception hoping it wasn't too full, but being a festival that's doubtful. "Hello, are you people full for today? We'd like a room."

Tsubaki

The big bustling port had no shortage of places to nestle down for a stay in. Some rather big inns too at varying rates but a good deal were already full but one still had vacancies for wayward travelers who weren't able to reserve well in advance or were first timers and didn't know much about the islands.

A young girl stood on the side ringing a bell to call and announce space at their inn "space, we got rooms! We got rooms! Rates at 1120 a night! Free public baths, meals included."

Tess Dileva
Aurora Village

And Hiromi was gonna do great for sure, there was no doubt about that she will stand out greatly without problem.

"That's gonna be assured, your reputation will help you out to stand out and from that on your delicious food will do the rest." Tess smiled at Hiromi while reassuring what her wife said. Of course she stepped back to the let the two friends talk about her leaving the Kitan and how everyone missed the chef and how she missed them, especially Ma'am Kinoshita; which speaking of rome; she had just appeared.

She noticed the girls surprised about Ma'am Kinoshita appearing out of nowhere and the Mervayan had to admit she was surprised too because of the timing. But that didn't mean to not smile and greet her since she was always friendly with her wife and her, alongside the respect she had for the woman making the most prestigious high-end resort in all the islands.

"Ohh, Ma'am Kinoshita good morning too." Tess greeted her with a warm grin while she noticed Hiromi handing her a piece of pie to taste. Which she seemed to love and even offered the chef a nice business that would help her.

Then she got her focus on Satou and Tess, asking the latter if she was having fun ever since she was back in the islands and how was her travel. But before she could answer, Tsubasa handed over her wife her wages thanks to getting off pretty quickly the other day.

After that Hiromi served tea for everyone while asking the animal spirit about the weather and if there was gonna be another storm like those of the last two years around the festival, one ending with an hurricane included to which she replied that it was mostly luck in the end as she knew as much as everyone else; even considering the fact she's from a species that pretty much is immortal.

However then her focus was focused on Tess and adding the fact that she was now a married woman, which of course made her blush as she's still happy of being reminded about the wedding.

"I'm great, thank you for asking. Luck was by his side it seemed and considering that it was a matter of time before someone else took the offer, he had to ask at least about the Inn.

"Excuse me young lady." He approached curiously to ask. "May I ask where is that Inn you're telling??"

“Amazing isn’t it”.

“That’s amazing, what is this place called?”

“They call it the Kitan Inn, very popular around these parts. Just a small walk from the port too”.

“Well then, lead the way Jellal” Erza says chipperly. And the two of them head off to the beautiful Kitan Inn. Meanwhile on the same port, Jay Sherman exchanges his money for a whopping Ѥ 750.

“At last! A vacation in the United Island States! Now what to do. I could go find an inn to stay at, but it’s not like I’m in a rush”.

‘hey, hey’ his stomach says to him (though it is mostly in his imagination), ‘How about filling me up with those tropical goodies. I haven’t eaten in 10 minutes’.

She was a bit confused why a few customers would introduce themselves, but oh well, it was not a big deal. But the indecisiveness maybe irked her a bit but she kept her composure and cool that it wouldn't be noticed. "So, come to browse eh? Need a few suggestions? Well I really can't say what it is you need because I only know that you've come to look. But I can start with the basics. If your sailors, we have gear for that, if you're just here to visit and want a little something to take back, I can suggest a few things. If you're camping out here I got things for that too. Maybe something crafted. My father does all the wood work, My mother and I sew and I know a few things about knives and firearms. IF you're looking to traverse the islands, I have maps and guides to help you there. If you're planning on living here -- " doubtful as that was, "I could give advice for that too. Let me show you what we have." Wood block carvings were on display of various types of islanders from AHSCA. "These blocks are all handcrafted as I mentioned. My papa did the carving and I painted most of the, This one is by my mother and this one by my daughter. A bit messier but I couldn't possibly refuse her asking now could i?" She beamed a smile at that. "The blocks do cost a bit but think of it like a little painting without a frame. Clothing wise, bandeaus are great, plenty islanders wear them daily with something on the bottom. I have these," She pulled out a bunch of customized fishnets "Made by a friend of mine, people find them stylish."

"Craft beer, you got it. Let's see table, hey Turi we have Table 10 open still don't we?"

The other young waitress girl stopped, "Actually I just barely sat Her Grace down so we're full up."

"Well shoot, if you don't mind waitin' a few I'm sure one will clear up. Still can bring you a drink if you like and --"

"Hang on a moment." The young voice of Shinya interrupted her "Sir, sorry it's so full but maybe you'd like to join my wife and I at our table?"

"Good Sir we don't have issue with that if you don't."

"Frankly Ya-Xi has been eager to have a conversation I don't see it being an issue. Come on, what do you say, will you join us?" He offered him to follow to the special table 10 the waitress were just mentioning.

Twin Palms Shop

"You got it!" Kumiko agreed noting to go for a full style, again showing the ones they had up on display. "These are display but if you like them enough I can take it down and sell it to you at reduced price." Yasmin informed her what she was looking for "Mmmm I think I have something you'd like, say like what I'm wearing right now? I'd say this color would look great on you if you feel red is your choice. It would bring out your eyes and contrast great with your hair. I have one ready in stock if you'd like to try it on, just follow me to the back."

With Kumiko taking care of Yasmin, Aya assisting customers it'd give a chance for Aurelia and her father to look around. Plenty of good things again this year, some new treats this time from Mervay and a few still left over from Kyrenaia. Who should enter the shop but Reina Kumiko's now wife. Dolled up and cute looking a bit timid looking but she was came to also buy a few things for herself and her now stepdaughter before stopping by to pick her up from their home and of course say hello to Kumiko. As crowds moved about in the little store she did find herself in proximity of them "Busy day isn't it?" She politely made small talk.

Port Kino

"Yes, I do appreciate you being mindful of everyone and everything Officer. Be at ease and keep up your good work." Ayla praised her. That made Kuko hold her cheeks and sigh "Man the Chief is so cool"

"Haha glad to have an admirer. It's good to see you again Aonas, a hug would be lovely" she embraced him with that. "Friendly person aint he." Kuko muttered then whispered, Hey Bero, you think The Chief has found herself a new squeeze?" Bero could only shrug but if that were the case she certainly wanted to give them time to themselves.

"Well. My Chief, I bid you good day and to you sir, welcome again to Corona, please enjoy your stay with us. Come on Kuko, you can buy me lunch."

"Huh, wait why meee? Heya your horse is still a real pretty sight, I'd like to talk again later if you aint too busy with The Chief. Uh Lady Chief, good day and good festival." She nodded and ran after her police officer companion.

Ayla giggled a bit waving them off "I'm really thrilled you could make it all the way here. I know it couldn't have been an easy trip, especially with this fine fellow." She gently reached out to pat the horse's glossy coat. Not usual we get people here with their animals, unless they're traders from smaller nearby places. But can't say I mind."

Port Aya, Hoshino

The group of Teressian Tourists landed nice and sound on Hoshino and of course could take in the sights of Port Aya. A bit like Kino, the town center had a statue dedicated to its two heroes of the war, Masako and Aya. Unlike poor Kino they did live to tell the tale but Aya died some time later during a hurricane and Masako passed along the title to his younger brother afterword. But besides that, the little sunhat that poor little Kaori had been chasing down the busy streets rolled up to their feet. "Misteerrr Haaaat" the little girl came running up stopping to catch her breath. It was her favorite hat after all, she really wanted to catch it before it blew off to sea or something like that.

Strange looking people indeed but well many said the same for islanders so it was best to keep such thoughts inward. Still the people were inspected, their posessions made note of. "Very good, things are in order. Please enjoy your stay with us and enjoy the festival."

The two girls were noticed to be dressed the same, but easy to discern they were classmates. But to look fresh out of school? Well that was something else but things checked out. "One bayonet, noted. All right do be careful with your weapon. Enjoy your stay here and do enjoy the festival. "

Otulissa von Sarmaten was greeted by the attending officers. "Good day, Madam. May I please see your weapon?" She asked to give it a small inspection and make a note on the documents. "Very good, please be careful and do enjoy the Festival with us. Enjoy your stay here and the Festival."

I've seen my share in my lifetime, some I was given blame for but they do go away eventually. Well putting that aside I think it's going to be another lovely festival, wouldn't you all agree?"

They chimed their agreements with her.

"Manager, please take a few steamed buns for yourself and the staff back with you." Hiromi set out a bag for her.

"They'd love that. I know I will too. Oh Hiromi, we do miss you there, but you trained the kitchen staff up well they know your recipes down by heart"

"I'm glad things are still going well. How is it, very busy over there?"

"The morning rush is starting to come in. I rather hate to leave Ren to her self to handle check ins but I figure this would be the least busy time"

Satou nodded and spoke, "Ren is really capable and she has Natsume with her. If anything Natsume won't be pushed around by anyone."

"She has spirit that one. It's really no surprise given her time on the sea." She finished off her tea "Ladies, I do hate to drink and run but I feel I should be getting back. Hiro if I can make time I will stop by again, I want to wish you all the luck"

“That my friend can be arranged” He says to himself as he heads off to Aurora Village, going to one of the local bars to dine.

The Cartoonian guests would also be greeted by Ren at the lobby desk. "Greetings. Do you have reservations? I can see what kind of space I have if you don't. If you be needing anything to eat then we have a lovely place to eat right next door."

Aceus Elurion, King of Danceria

Port of Kino, Corona Island
CURRENT FORECAST: Humid and solitary, with a chance of horseback

AHSCA wrote:Corona's Great Temple was less of a singular temple structure like it's neighbors and more a complex of several buildings in this case.

The silver-grey man bowed low. “I thank you for the welcome. I am here to give devotion to the Goddesses and Yue, and to serve those whom they watch over.”

It was straight to the point-for a Dancerian proverb said that “the wholeness of piety is half service to the Gods, and half service to others”. The incognito king intended to become most pious indeed, and perhaps pick some of the more scholarly of the clergy in the nature of rulership, manhood, and service.

Theomer Eorlmyn, Student, Wanderer, and Prince to Be

Ferry Port, Aurora
CURRENT FORECAST: Humid and solitary

"Miss Elin! Hey!", a familiar voice called out.
Both Branwen and I turned, a smile forming on my lips.
"Theomer, hi.", I said as soon as he was close enough, "How often have I asked you to call me Elin?"
I contemplated for a moment to give him a quick hug, but my sister quickly dashed that thought: "Who's he, sis?"
"But I still am!", I said with a teasing smile and pecked my sister on the cheek, "My little puppy."

Returning the bow, he still continued to treat the Spioraid with deferment. Not as much as when they first met, certainly, but Elinn would realize by now that Theomer came from a place of quiet, nose to the grindstone farmhands. Which meant they worked hard, but knew when to celebrate harder, thankfully this was the latter time. For once the bow was returned, Theomer cracked a big grin a Elinn embraced her younger-by-a-hair sister, reminding him of the familial antics of his home. “Well, Ah decided to take ya up on visitin’ AHSCA.” Theomer continued, allowing his more ruralite dialect to seep through, “Hafta say, gorgeous beaches-if a lil’ crowded. So…” he smiled and relaxed, beginning to gradually move himself closer towards the pair. Not to insinuate anything, but to show to himself and others that they were a group. He certainly didn’t know his way around the Isles, so he would either have to rely upon the kindness of strangers or his fellow student. “...Ya came here ta’ find yer Muse, Miz Branwen?” Elinn, like any good sister talked about her “little puppy” and her accomplishments, specifically in the realms of science fiction writing. A woman who looked-and Theomer continued to remind himself, merely looked-around his age having two books under her belt was indeed an accomplishment, and it seemed like she enjoyed it.

Kino

Port Aya

Before I can reply anything to the young saleswoman, whose voice sounds like music to my ears, Sarah beats me on the spot.
"I would like to maybe try a few bandeaus first Miss, it would look good for our stay in the Malditas. What do you say Auntie Maria?" she asks to Tommy's wife.
"You're right Sarah," replies my sister-in-law with a smile. "That is if your father agrees." she adds as she turns to me with hope in her eyes.
"Hey, who am I to deny things to my daughter when she asks so nicely?" I reply as I ruffle Sarah's hair, to which she replies "Dad" with a small whine, before laughing and hugging me.
"You'll look great in that honey." I reply as I hug her back. "So Miss," I ask as I turn back to the saleswoman, "do you mind helping them in their choice of bandeaus, my brother and I will take a llok at the wood carvings meanwhile."

As I move to get closer to the wood blocks to take a closer look, I pass really close to the young vendor. And somehow, our hands touch, which causes me to feel as if I was hit by lightning and freeze on the spot. As I come back quickly to my senses and shake my head to focus my attention again, I turn to the woman. "Ehe... sorry about that." I say with a sheepish smile as I rub the back of my head, before clearing my throat and moving back to the wood block carvings.

As I take a closer look, I can feel my brother joining me at my side. However, as I raise my head to look at him, he has a sly smile on his face.
"What?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh nothing," he replies with the same smile, "just happy to see my brother falling in love again." he whispers after having cast a sideways glance to make sure the vendor, who was helping Sarah and Maria a few meters away, wouldn't hear us. And even so, given the fact we were speaking in Astarian, our native tongue, she would not have understood."
"Come on Tommy, don't be stupid. Let's take a look at these instead." I say as I motion to the carvings.
"Oh I'm not stupid big bro, just really attentive of the people around me." he replies as he looks too at the carvings.
"Man shut up!" I finish as I lightly hit him on the shoulder.

But even so, what he says is true in a way. This spark, I've never felt it before, only when I met Sarah's mom back in the day. But as I try to cast those thoughts aside, I can't help but feel a nice feeling starting to bloom in my heart.

Staff Sergeant Abigail "Abby" Anderson
Port Aya, Hoshino

As I listen to the two waitresses try to arrange the situation with the table not being available, my thoughts are interrupted by the two customers siting at said table, apparently adressing Owen. If I'm not mistaken, Ii could have sworn that I heard one of the waitresses refer to one of the customers as "Her Highness." Which means only one thing: I can not fuck this up, no matter how high those people are on the local social ladder. And as I cast a quick glance to Owen, I can see in his eyes that he thinks the exact same thing.
"Thank you Sir, we wouldn't want to intrude, but since you offer this to us, it would be very impolite to refuse." he says with a large smile and a bow of his head.
-Indeed, thank you Sir." I add as I also bow my head in thanks, before following the man to his table, where his wife apparently named Ya-Xi sits. I'm sure I've heard that name before... I think silently as we sit at the table, putting our bagpacks on the ground next to our chairs.
"Thank you Miss for having us." I say to the lady with a smile, before introducing myself. "Staff Sergeant Abigail Anderson, 44th Ranger Regiment, Astarian Imperial Army. My colleague Corporal Owen Rekker." I continue as I point to Owen with my head, as he says "Good morning. Nice to meet you Miss. Me and Abby are assigned as security to the Islas Malditas, which our country is currently in the processs of redevloping. So since we heard many good things about this Festival, we thought we would come and see by ourselves how it is. And let me tell you, even though we have only arrived, we have nothing to say but good things about your lands." he finishes.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Twin Palms Shop.

Kumiko seemed to have everything well in hand, but I saw Yasmin's scepticism in her eyes at the floral pattern - she was more someone for a solid colour, and a darker red tone, I knew.
As they left me with Dad and whichever other customers were in the shop, she told Kumiko that politely. We would wait here and wait for her to come back with the first model on the list, the classical procedure.
I decided to look around with Dad, who had found something from home and from Mervay and elsewhere - someone had been busy, I noticed with a smile.
Another patron entered, a beautiful woman, a bit timid, but still with enough courage to start idle conversation: "Busy day isn't it?"
I smiled. "It sure looks like it.", I said with a nod, "As is to be expected with a festival on. I still find it wonderful, that the staff has the time to attend individual customers, like my stepmother."
Dad nodded.

Aonas Folracht of the Tribe of Wicklow.
Port of Kino, Corona Island.

I enjoyed the hug - which man would not enjoy being hugged by a beautiful woman?
And while she dismissed her fellow Islanders, I watched Ayla. I nodded at Kuko's request: "Sure, but no promises about him letting you ride!", I joked.
And then, it was only Ayla and me.
"I'm really thrilled you could make it all the way here. I know it couldn't have been an easy trip, especially with this fine fellow.", she said and stroked Asalcloig's glossy coat. He seemed to like the attention. "Not usual we get people here with their animals, unless they're traders from smaller nearby places. But can't say I mind."
"I promised you, that I'd come, so I came.", I said simply, "It is wonderful to be here, too. Asalcloig likes it, too... though he has to be cleaned and washed. The ship's crew wasn't really forthcoming when it came to water, understandably, but his hygiene suffered." I smiled a bit forlornly. "And to be honest, mine, too."
I let a beat pass.
"But first...", I said, "...let's introduce you properly. Hold your hand out for him to smell."
I was sure, that Asalcloig would like her.

Nela, Prinzessin von Zieselhaven und Elms.
Port Aya, Hoshino.

The street had been busy, but nevertheless, my ears caught the distinctive cry of a little girl: "Misteerrr Haaaat!!", she cried.
This was accompanied by a little sun hat rolling up to our feet, me quickly snatching it up before someone stepped on it by accident.
A bit away, a little girl stood, catching her breath, looking a bit distressed and worried about Mister Hat, who had escaped her and her head.
I smiled, motioned for Rena to follow me as I approached the girl. I was 1.91 meter tall, then heels, so I would tower over the girl, which was, of course, unacceptable for the Big Sis of the Herzogtum dealing with a distressed little girl, so I squatted down, showing her the hat.
"Is that yours, my dear?", I asked softly, smiling.
Rena, meanwhile watched two steps away, smiling.

"A bit.", Branwen replied with a small smile and bow. "Though, from what we heard, it shouldn't be that crowded... must be a new development." She shrugged. "Anyway, Theomer... may I say Theo?"
We were used to being treated with deference, even if we were merely of 20 Springs. There was a reason why I had declined being served the Stobhach on the first evening at the Eseir Inn, as I was not the oldest, not by a long shot - my, absent, girlfriend was three centuries older then me, though, my Dad... he had been ancient when the mountains had been young.
Anyway...
Theomer joined our group and we happily let him.
"Where are you staying?", I asked him with a smile.
